I STOPPED AT A STOPLIGHT AND WAS SITTING THERE FOR A FEW MINUTES. AS THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I HIT THE GAS TO GO AND IT WOULDN'T. UPON LOOKING DOWN AT THE DASH, THE ENGINE LIGHT (AND ANOTHER RED ONE) WAS ON, THE ENGINE HAD STALLED! I HIT MY PUSH TO START BUTTON AND EVERYTHING CAME BACK ON.
MY HEAD LIGHT MELTED AND THE WIRE HARNESS, I STARTED THE VEHICLE I THE MORNING AND I HAD WEIRD NOISE, I CHECKED AND HEAD LIGHT WAS OFF, I OPENED AND TO FIND OUT THE WHOLE BULB SOCKET WAS MELTED. THEN THE BREAK LIGHT ALWAYS GETS OVER HEATED AND BURNS DOWN , I CHANGE THEM ALMOST EVERY MONTH.
HEAD/TAIL LAMPS FLICKER (RAPIDLY) ON/OFF WHILE THE LIGHT STOCK IS IN THE AUTO MODE. OCCURS RANDOMLY DAY/NIGHT EITHER STATIONARY OR MOVING. LIGHTS DO NOT FLICKER WHEN LIGHT STOCK IS IN ON MODE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE PARKING THE VEHICLE AND SHIFTING INTO REVERSE, THE REAR CAMERA FAILED TO DISPLAY AN IMAGE ON THE MONITOR. ALSO, THE LIGHTS AROUND THE MONITOR AND THE GEAR SHIFTER FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS ABLE TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO PARK. UPON ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT BACK INTO REVERSE, THE GEAR SHIFTER FAILED TO MOVE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED AND OPERATED CORRECTLY AFTER A FEW MINUTES. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT A RATTLING NOISE WAS HEARD IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE FOR 15 MINUTES AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE AND DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC OR DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 800.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 15823638. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO THE LOCAL DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,494.*BF CONSUMER STATED THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS ABOUT EVERY OTHER MONTH. CAR FEELS LIKE ITS GOING TO STALL AT THE RED LIGHT WHEN YOU PUSJH ON GAS PEDAL. ON THE 2017 HYUNDAI SONATA LIMITED (NOT THE BASE OR SPORT MODELS), THE ENCLOSURE SURROUNDING THE LIGHT UNIT HAS A PIECE AT THE TOP THAT CASTS A SHADOW ON THE STREET THAT IS DISTRACTING TO THE DRIVER AND IMPAIRS VISIBILITY. THE SHADOW APPEARS TO LOOK LIKE A TAB AND CASTS A SHADOW ON THE LEFT HAND LANE LINE THAT MAKES VISIBILITY HARD AND IS A SAFETY CONCERN. WE HAVE BEEN INFORMED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT WE TOOK IT TO THAT ORDERED A REPLACEMENT HEADLIGHT UNIT THAT IT APPEARS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE DESIGN THAT ONLY APPEARS TO IMPACT TO THE LIMITED MODELS OF THE SONATA. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH, THERE ARE A NUMBER OF OTHER COMPLAINTS THAT ARE REFERENCED IN THE WEBSITE HTTPS://WWW.CARGURUS.COM/CARS/DISCUSSION-T68982_DS813530 REGARDING ISSUES WITH BOTH THE 2017 AND 2018 MODELS. WE ASK THAT THIS ITEM IS INVESTIGATED FOR RE-MANUFACTURE AND A RECALL ISSUED TO PROTECT ALL FROM THIS SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE ATTACHED A FEW PICTURES TO DEMONSTRATE THE DISTRACTION CAUSED BY THE TAB ON A FREEWAY AND IN A RESIDENTIAL STREET AS WELL AS A CLOSE UP OF THE HEADLIGHT WHICH YOU CAN SEE IS CASTING THIS SHADOW. I HAVE ALSO SHOWN A PICTURE THAT IS CAST ON THE FRONT OF A HOUSE THAT WHILE PROJECTED UP (AS WE WERE ON THE UPSLOPE OF A DRIVEWAY), VISIBLY SHOWS THE TAB THAT GETS DISPERSED WHILE ON THE ROADS.
UPON HITTING A POTHOLE THE TIRE A KUMHO 215/55/R17 SOLUS TA31 SIDEWALL GAVE OUT ON THE PASSENGER FRONT SIDE. THE NEXT DAY WHILE DRIVING I RAN OVER A SMALL OBJECT THE TIRE'S SIDEWALL FAILED AGAIN THIS TIME ON THE DRIVER'S FRONT SIDE. I HAD TWO BLOWOUTS IN 2 DAYS FROM ROUTINE DRIVING ON THIS TIRE. THE TIRE PRESSURE WAS @37 EACH TIME. I WAS TRAVELING ROUGHLY 45-50 MILES PER HOUR. IN BOTH INSTANCES THE SIDEWALL SPLIT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN IT SNOWED, THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM ENGAGED, THE VEHICLE PULSATED, AND TOOK 30 TO 50 SECONDS TO STOP. THE CONTACT HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING MORE THAN 10 MPH IN THE SNOW. CLASSIC HYUNDAI (8460 TYLER BLVD, MENTOR, OH 44060, (440) 266-6777) STATED THAT WAS HOW THE VEHICLES WERE CURRENTLY DESIGNED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT IF THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED THAT WAY, THEN THEY COULD NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000.
I have recently acquired this vehicle. There has been zero unrecorded recalls, and I have been told that there is an active recall on the engine in this vehicle. I am inquiring this. The car has recently been taken to my mechanic and he has told me this plus the car engine is using a excessive amount of oil. I have heard that it is possible to have the engine replaced due to the recall I am inquiring about that. On the date of the incident that has occurred. I am putting the date of the purchase of the vehicle order that is on the Pohanka buyers order.
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
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE STATIONARY ON "AUTO-HOLD", THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED RAPIDLY WITHOUT WARNING AT 40 MPH AND CRASHED INTO A FENCE. AFTER THE CONTACT RELEASED HER FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE KEPT ACCELERATING. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOORBOARD IN AN ATTEMPT TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE SLOWLY CAME TO A STOP. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO SKYLAND COLLISION IN STANTON ISLAND, NEW YORK. ISLAND HYUNDAI IN STANTON ISLAND, NEW YORK WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE CRASH AND DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE INHIVORATOR SWITCH OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND PROVIDED THE CONTACT WITH CASE NUMBER: 10776147. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 900.
CAR STARTED THIS AT APPROXIMATELY 10,000 MILES. IT "WANDERS" ON THE ROAD, AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE STEERING WHEEL FEELS LIKE IT "STICKS" AT SPEED IN THE CENTER POSITION AND IT TAKES CONSIDERABLE FORCE TO TURN THE WHEEL FROM CENTER. THIS CAUSES OVERCORRECTION IN THE STEERING AND YOU TEND TO GO BACK AND FORTH. SINGLE-HANDED CRUISING IS DEFINITELY OUT OF THE EQUATION, AS IT REQUIRES A TWO-HANDED TIGHT GRIP FOR EVEN TINY ADJUSTMENTS. MY WIFE HATES IT AND IT IS UPSETTING TO HAPPEN IN A NEW CAR. DID NOT DO THIS WHEN NEW AND DOES IT IN ALL MODES (NORMAL, ECO, SPORT).
HEADLIGHTS(LOW BEAM) ON LIMTED MODEL HAS A DARK LINE AND TWO NOTCHES. DIFFICULT TO SEE PROPERLY AT NIGHT.
I BROUGHT THIS IN OCT 6, 2017 AT WIN HYUNDAI IN CARSON. A COUPLE WEEK LATER, I AM HAVING TIRE PRESSURE PROBLEMS. THE TIRES IS SLIDING ON THE FREEWAY AND THE STREET. THE TIRE PRESSURE KEEPS GOING UP AND DOWN EVERYDAY. I BROUGHT THIS CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE, AND THEY SAID THAT NOTHING IS WRONG BUT SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE TIRES. LAST NIGHT, WHEN I PULL INTO A DRIVEWAY THE WHEEL WAS STRUCK UNTIL IT STOP. THIS CAR IS 2017 HYUNDAI SONATA SE. I NOTICED A DIFFERENCE WHEN YOU CHANGE TIRES BECAUSE THE TIRES ISN'T SLIDING ON THE FREEWAY AND THE STREET.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000.
ON 10-15-17 I HAD AN INCIDENT OF AN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION AS I WAS TURNING INTO MY DRIVEWAY. THE CAR MADE A LOUD VROOM NOISE AND I TRIED TO BRAKE AND THE BRAKES FAILED ME AND I PUT THE CAR INTO PARK AND IT STILL MOVED WHERE IT HIT MY GARAGE DOOR. I HAVE TIRE MARKS ALL OVER MY DRIVEWAY FROM THIS INCIDENT. I WAS DRIVING A HYUNDAI SONATA SPORT AND THE DEALERSHIP OR CORPORATE DOES NOT WANT TO TAKE BACK THE CAR OR DO ANYTHING FOR ME BECAUSE THEY CLAIM NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE BUT I KNOW THAT IS NOT TRUE.
CPSC: HYUNDAI OF ORANGE PARK, FLORIDA DID A GOODWILL REPLACEMENT OF ORIGINAL ENGINE ON MY 2007 SONATA, THE REPLACEMENT THETA ENGINE WAS INSTALLED ON INVOICE 80311 FINISHED ON 7/13/ 11 AND WAS DIRECTED BY GM DANNY HINES AND APPROVED BY HYUNDAI MA. *DT *JS
PURCHASED OUR 2017 SONATA SPORT IN DECEMBER OF 2016. IN JULY I HAD MY FIRST POWER STEERING ISSUE. WHILE DRIVING FOR NO APPARENT REASON I LOSE POWER STEERING AND CAN BARELY TURN THE WHEEL. I HAVE TO PULL OVER WITH GREAT STRUGGLE AND TURN THE CAR OFF THEN RESTART IT TO BE ABLE TO GET POWER STEERING BACK. THE LIGHT FOR POWER STEERING ILLUMINATES ON THE DISPLAY PANEL AND THEN DISAPPEARS AFTER I RE-START IT. ALONG WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL AT TIMES, BUT OFTEN JUST THE POWER STEERING FAILS. HAPPENS USUALLY AT SPEEDS AROUND 20-30 MILES PER HOUR. ONCE GOING 40. SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT DEALERSHIP STATED THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE ISSUE AND GAVE THE CAR BACK TO ME. CONTINUES TO BE AN ISSUE. ALSO HAD TO HAVE THE DISPLAY PANEL REPLACED BECAUSE ONLY ONE HALF WOULD ILLUMINATE. THE DISPLAY PANEL FAILED AFTER ONLY HAVING THE CAR 1 MONTH. TOOK OVER 3 MONTHS FOR THE PART TO COME IN SO THEY COULD FIX IT.
ON SATURDAY 9/16/17 I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT SITTING STILL WHEN MY CAR STALLED AND WENT DEAD. I LOOKED AT THE DASHBOARD AND SAW THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. THE BRAKE WAS FROZEN AND BEFORE I COULD RESTART THE CAR IT ROLLED INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. THERE NO DAMAGE TO HER JEEP. HOWEVER MY CAR HIT THE SPARE TIRE AND RACK ON THE BACK OF HER TRUNK, CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE HOOD OF MY CAR, THE GRILL AND LOWER BUMPER. WE DID NOT EXCHANGE INFORMATION, AS SHE DID NOT HAVE DAMAGE TO HER CAR, SO SHE LEFT THE SCENE. I DROVE THE CAR HOME (2 MILES FROM MY HOUSE) AND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME TO BRING THE CAR IN. I BROUGHT IT IN THE SAME DAY. RAYMOND, THE SERVICE AGENT CAME OUTSIDE TO SURVEY THE DAMAGE AND I TOLD HIM WHAT HAPPENED. HE WENT TO TALK TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AND LATER CAME OUT AND SAID THEY WILL TAKE THE CAR AND PUT IT ON THE MACHINE TO GET A DIAGNOSTIC READING TO SEE WHY THE CAR STALLED. THEY GAVE ME A LOANER CAR AND I LEFT. ON MONDAY, 9/19/17, I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER I GOT OFF WORK AND WAS TOLD BY RAYMOND THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG THUS FAR. HE SAID HE WANTED TO KEEP THE CAR ANOTHER DAY OR TWO TO TAKE IT FOR A DRIVE AND TRY TO SEE IF IT WOULD STALL AGAIN. I AGREED AND ASKED RAYMOND TO ALSO CHECK THE FUEL INJECTORS, FUEL PUMP, FUEL REGULATOR, AS MY FRIEND WHO IS A CAR MECHANIC SUGGESTED TO ME THAT THIS CAN CAUSE A CAR TO STALL ALSO. HE SAID OKAY. ON TODAY, WEDNESDAY 9/21/17, RAYMOND CALLED ME AND SAID THEY TOOK THE CAR OUT FOR A DRIVE AND IT DID NOT STALL, NOR COULD THEY GET A READING THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG WHEN THEY PUT IT ON THE MACHINE. HE SAID HE COULD NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THE CAR WOULD STALL. I ASKED FOR A DIAGNOSTIC REPORT AND HE SAID HE COULD ONLY GIVE ME A COPY OF THE SERVICE TICKET. I AM AFRAID THAT THIS CAR COULD STALL AGAIN AND WHAT IF IT HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING -- IT COULD BE MUCH WORST DAMAGE AND BODILY HARM. PLEASE HELP!
SECOND COMPLAINT, THIS PROBLEM, THIS VEHICLE. WHEN ENTERING BUSY ROADWAY FROM SHOPPING CENTER (9/13/2017), AT SPEED OF CA. 10 MPH, POWER STEERING CEASED WORKING. WAS ABLE TO WRESTLE VEHICLE TO ROADWAY SHOULDER. VEHICLE TAKEN TO DEALER (DELRAY HYUNDAI, DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA) AS WAS DONE FOLLOWING FIRST COMPLAINT. DEALER UNABLE TO ACCEPT VEHICLE UNTIL AT LEAST NEXT WEEK DESPITE DRIVER SAFETY CONCERN PROTESTS.
DRIVING TO WORK VEHICLE LOST POWER IN PARKING GARAGE, DURING BUSIEST TIME AND LOT OF TRAFFIC IN GARAGE. CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS COASTING, PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL AND NOTHING, THEN FLOORED THE PEDAL AND IT REVVED UP ENOUGH TO GET ME UP THE RAMP INTO A PARKING SPOT. ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. THANKFULLY THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN ON THE FREEWAY. TOWED TO DEALERSHIP, THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG, THE CAR IS STILL IN THE SHOP.
ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, EACH WHILE DRIVING A VERY LOW SPEED (AT OR ABOUT 10 MPH), THE POWER STEERING FAILED. ONE INCIDENT WAS IN SUPERMARKET PARKING LOT, THE OTHER TWO INCIDENTS ON A PUBLIC ROAD WITHIN A CORPORATE PARK. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, HYUNDAI DEALER, BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. VEHICLE WAS KEPT BY DEALER TWO DAYS, DRIVEN BY QUALIFIED SERVICE PERSONNEL AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, BUT REPLICATION OF DRIVER COMPLAINT NOT EXPERIENCED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2017 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH AND TURNING TO THE RIGHT, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND SURGED FORWARD.
