2024 Ineos Grenadier Complaint Log

While driving my Ineos Grenadier in the middle of the Arizona desert, the steering suddenly became difficult to control due to a tie rod nut coming loose. The vehicle began wandering and required constant correction to maintain control, creating a serious safety concern in a remote area far from immediate assistance. There were no warning lamps, messages, or alerts displayed inside the vehicle before or during the incident. Just one week prior, the steering and front end components had been inspected by an authorized dealer during service, and no issues were identified at that time. Upon inspection after the incident, the tie rod hardware was found loose, which could have resulted in a complete loss of steering control if not caught in time. This appears to be a known issue within the Ineos Grenadier community involving steering and tie rod hardware concerns. The failure presents a significant safety risk to vehicle occupants and others on the road, especially during off road or remote travel where recovery and emergency services may not be readily available.

Windsheild experienced a thermal crack that followed the length of the windscreen defrost vent. The crack began at each end of the vent traveled up about 2 inches and went horizontally across to the other end of the vent. Outside temps were in the single digits and it was snowing. Windscreen defrost was on max in order to provide visibility.

HVAC system is erratic and can blow VERY hot air when set to cool, so hot that it burned the top of my feet while driving and forced me to exit the freeway and shut the vehicle down. This failure is random, and properly written fault-tolerant software should NOT allow this condition to happen; it would be better to shut the system off than to cause blisters on people's feet or blowing 140+ deg air when it is only 110° outside. Also, the HVAC system, when malfunctioning, cannot be turned off... it continues to blow hot air. I have taken it to the dealer 3 times with no HVAC resolution, and have been waiting for Ineos to provide a solution.

The contact owns a 2024 Ineos Grenadier. The contact stated that while taking his children to daycare and driving 35 MPH, several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was hesitating while driving. The contact pulled into the parking lot. The contact stated that there was an abnormal chattering sound coming from the tires. The contact stated that the disc brakes had seized. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 7,500.

While traveling on a rough road I experienced a side curtain airbag deployment on our Ineos Grenadier. There was no impact or roll over. There was only one person in the vehicle, the driver, yet both the drivers side and passenger side airbags deployed along with the drivers seatbelt locking mechanism. The airbags never deflated, leaving the driver trapped in the vehicle. To exit the vehicle a knife had to be used to deflate the drivers side airbag. Over one hour later the passenger side airbag had never deflated and also required a knife to puncture it. If there was an actual roll over and water was involved, I fear that the occupants of the vehicle could not get out. Something is faulty with this system.

There appears to be some electrical malfunction that causes the air conditioning to produce exceptionally hot air. It can only end when the air conditioning system is turned all the way off. This is a known problem in the owners groups that many people are experiencing. One of my friends just measured the temperature at 192° blowing out during air conditioning setting. I am having something similar And this must be fixed as it is dangerous

The contact owns a 2024 Ineos Grenadier. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the A/C was activated; however, there was extremely hot air blowing out of the vents. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the vents were extremely hot and that the air temperature from the rear vents was recorded at 175 degrees. In addition, the air temperature from the front vents was recorded at 132 degrees. The contact burned his right hand while recording the temperature from the vents. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with an A/C system failure. The contact was informed that the A/C system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was being repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 11,000.

AC Electrical System - Vehicle will only blow full Hot air, regardless of the temperature control setting. This has happened many times since ownership (Dec 2023) with many visits to dealership without resolution.

The HVAC controller failure causes risk of burn to passengers. When operating the HVAC system on Air Conditioning, the system will direct heat from the engine bay without any temperature management resulting in hot engine air being sent through the HVAC system and out to the vents. In some circumstances the hot air is only sent through the rear vents and other times the system sends hot air to all vents with a high variability of when this occurs. In one experience, the hot air was only sent to the rear vents causing the rear vent’s metal knob to become very hot and resulted in my child burning their hand on the knob. The dealer has confirmed the issue on my vehicle and has ordered parts under warranty (currently on backorder for 30+ days) to resolve. The issue of the HVAC unit blowing hot air is common to many Ineos Grenadier vehicles according to the dealer and is also commonly raised on Grenadier vehicle forums. The immediate safety risk occurs when the heat is not apparent to the driver because the controller is only directing heat to the rear and the vent knob becomes a burn-point for passengers. This issue can occur regardless of the temperature setting on the driver controls whether being on auto or manual and the temperature setting of the HVAC set as cold air. My vehicle is available for inspection if requested.

Excessive play with the transfer case shifter. Shifter was in locked position (4 High). Transmission was in Park. Hand brake was disengaged. Transfer case was actually not locked into gear and truck roll on it own. Had to move shifter around to get the transfer case back in gear. Other problem w/ the shifter (A) it would stuck in 4 High, not able to to change into 4 High Lock, 4 Low, or 4 Low Lock (B) it would not secure in other positions except 4 High.

The exterior door handle button on all 4 passenger doors becomes stuck and prevents the door latch from functioning properly when the door is closing as it fails to latch to the receiver mechanism on the door frame. This has occurred on both left and right rear passenger doors on my INEOS Grenadier and hundreds of others have reported this issue as well occurring with all 4 doors. On Saturday, [XXX] we were going to an event and a friend we picked up closed her left rear passenger door. The dash panel showed no issues (door ajar, etc.). While driving down the road and going into a turn, the left rear passenger door opened up fully and the passenger, had she not been using her seat belt, could have fallen out of the vehicle when she (by instinct) went to reach for the interior door handle and close the door. It required the right rear passenger to grab the left rear passenger (a [XXX] woman) to prevent left rear passenger from getting hurt, falling out, etc. Later that day in the driveway we attempted to replicate the issue but could not. On [XXX], when opening the right rear passenger door, the exterior door button stuck when pressed in and remained stuck, preventing the door from "locking" or allowing the latch to make contact with the receiver mechanism. The dash panel never displayed door ajar or alerted with any type of warnings. I was able to exit the driver seat and quickly identified the door button was fully pushed down and locked into position and I could open/close the door with no locking occurring over 10+ times of opening/closing door. I pushed button several times and it remained stuck in the depressed state. I had to with my fingers move it left to right, up down, etc. before it popped out and then began functioning normally again. On [XXX], while driving at a slow speed and not in the vicinity of other vehicles, I heard a sudden cracking noise and noticed a crack had appeared on my windshield. I subsequently took the vehicle to SafeLite Glass Repair, where they informed me that the glass required replacement. Upon reviewing the INEOS FORUM, I observed that numerous owners have experienced the same crack in the same location without any indication of impact. The consensus among forum members is that these are stress cracks. I provided the attached .pdf documentation to INEOS; however, they declined to address this issue under warranty insisting there was impact. It is not realistic that MANY cars have cracks in the same exact place. I can confirm with certainty that there was no impact causing the crack. My driving speed was insufficient, and there were no objects around that could have impacted the windshield. The resulting crack in the windshield poses a potential safety risk by obstructing the driver's view. The vehicle has been inspected by both SafeLite Glass Repair and our INEOS dealer (MileOne INEOS in Maryland). The issue was also reported to corporate INEOS by the dealer, but corporate INEOS has declined to cover it under warranty. In response to whether there were any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure: No. The crack appeared suddenly on [XXX], while driving at a slow speed. Well known fault is the door opening buttons stay pushed in. Ineos dealer solution is either to dust them graphite dust (which does provide temp relief) or strike the outer door body with fist to free the door (which does relieve the acute condition. Recently while driving with a passenger in the front of the car while making a left curve at normal speed the passenger door flew open. My passenger was strapped in by seat belt but was leaning on the door arm at the time and was left unsupported to her right and fell towards the road. Only stopped from falling out by the belt. There was no visible or audible warning that the door was not securely locked but the button was stuck in so the door would not latch. I believe that Ineos have a fix and should be made to install on all vehicles. three out four doors are effected by this problem.

The brake warning light came on as the vehicle was failing. It did not give me any warning prior, I was leaving my driveway to go to the market when this light indicator came on and my brake I could tell was failing because I had put my foot all the way down on the floor, so I decided to not go to the store and back in and I was having trouble all the way down my driveway with the brake my boyfriend examined the vehicle and underneath the front and rear axle. Both the line had holes in it so that was from the line rubbing against the wheel well and that was the way the car was built so when he went to go check the brake fluid underneath the hood. The reservoir was completely empty, and there was brake fluid gushing everywhere down the driveway because I went to go look out front and there was just brake fluid everywhere. I would’ve if I would’ve went to the store, I would have not had brakes and I live in an area where there’s a lot of hills. I could’ve not only hurt myself, but have hurt someone else.

The rear differential cover is made from lightweight stamped metal. It hangs lower than the differential housing itself and includes a lip that can easily catch on obstacles. This design makes it particularly vulnerable to damage when driving on rough terrain, such as Class 4 state roads. A compromised differential cover may lead to fluid leaks, which can ultimately result in catastrophic failure of the rear axle assembly.

Vehicle doors are swinging open while driving with no warning. Door does not then latch close. This has happened with multiple doors at various times. All times passengers were seated where the door has swung open, including adults and children. We contacted the dealership multiple times without any concern or help with the issue. Was told our sales person no longer is with them. Prior to purchasing the vehicle we had a concern getting the vehicle to the dealer for service due to living out of state. We were told they would come get the vehicle for service. We now have a vehicle that we purchased 5 months ago and is not drivable. We were told to drive the vehicle 5 hours to the nearest dealer.

I have a 2024 INEOS Grenadier with the factory installed Tow Package. While the Grenadier does not offer an Electric Brake Controller as an an option, they do market the vehicle as being pre-wired to accept aftermarket controller thereby allowing the vehicle to pull the maximum tow weight of 7600 pounds. The problem is the wiring does not conform to US requirements with regard to the brake signal trigger and as a result it is not possible to activate the brake controller. This is a known manufacturing defect affecting every Grenadier sold in the US. I have contacted INEOS regarding this matter and this is their reply: Hi [XXX] , Thanks for contacting INEOS Automotive. I have heard back from the relevant team and our team are aware of the issue. Unfortunately there was no ETA given for this but there are plans to look into this issue further. Please don't hesitate to contact us for any further assistance. Best regards, INEOS Automotive Customer Care Team This is not an acceptable response for addressing a manufacturing defect. In vehicles like mine, which are fitted with the auxiliary battery, the battery can burp acid through a breather tube. this tube is located in a place where the acid will be discharged onto the brake lines. At that exact spot, there is a rubber bumper secured with cloth tape on those brake lines, and when the acid soaks into the cloth tape, the tape serves to hold the acid directly against the brake lines. Even after apparently only one day, the acid destroyed the tape and the rubber, and stripped the paint coating off the brake lines. I found it before it caused an issue, but the train location for the battery breathers is a problem. - My picture and forum post, also - [XXX] U.S.C. 552(B)(6) INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The body Control Module has been found faulty in numerous vehicles that affects the power windows, headlights, locks, Air condition, etc. Currently the manufacturer cannot reprogram new replacement module as they do not have a software capability.

1. When the fuel tank is filled up, it triggers an Engine Warning Light which has to be manually reset for other functions (like cruise control to operate). I've been waiting 4 months for a fix. 2. After numerous attempts, the dealership is unable to have the installed recommended break Controller (Redarc) successfully send a break signal to the towing wiring harness, meaning that I cannot tow vehicles safely in line with the vehicle's advertized specifications. I have left my vehicle with Mossy Inneos Houston and said I don't want it back until it can safely tow trailers as advertized.

The rear door handles of the vehicle get stuck in the open position and do not always latch. When driving the vehicle the doors then swing open. Clearly this is a tremendous safety hazard. The dealer has tried to fix it, but has done so unsuccessfully.

Driving at highway speeds--55-65 mph--the vehicle is all over the road. I am very concerned that there is a problem with the steering engineering making this vehicle dangerous on highways (as opposed to off-road).
