VEHICILE GOES INTO SAFE MODE WITHOUT WARNING AND SLOWS TO ABOUT 20 MPH PUTTING PASSENGERS IN DANGEROUS SITUATION IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON INTERSTATE.
THIS CAR HAS EXCESSIVE BURNING OF OIL AND IT IS WELL KNOWN IN THE FORUMS FOR G35 DRIVERS. THIS IS FOLLOW UP ON A COMPLAINT I JUST MADE. I HAD THE CAR'S OIL CHANGED WITH SYNTHETIC AND ALWAYS MAKE SURE IT IS CHANGED EVERY 3-5000 MILES. THOUGH THE CAR BURNED OFF NEARLY 4.25 QTS OF OIL IN UNDER 4,000 MILES CAUSING DAMAGE TO MY ENGINE, THE OIL LIGHT NEVER CAME ON THE WHOLE TIME EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE CAR. THE MECHANICS I WORK WITH INDICATED THAT THEY HAD THE SAME EXACT CAR AND HAD BLOWN 3 OF THE EXACT SAME ENGINES BETWEEN THE TWO OF THEM. THIS IS ABSURD. PLEASE NHTSA PLEASE HELP CONSUMERS THAT ARE HAVING BLOWN ENGINES DUE TO THE LACK OF COOPERATION BY INFINITI. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CRANK POSITION SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,490.

WHILE ON THE FREEWAY, THE CAR DIED WITH NO WARNING THEN TOOK SEVERAL SECONDS TO RESTART. WHEN STARTED, THE VDC, SLIP, AND ENGINE LIGHT WHERE ALL ON. CAR WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE 2 CODES FOR THE CAMSHIFT POSITION CENTER WERE GIVEN. THE CAR IS HARD TO START AND OFTEN DIES DURING IDLE TIME. WHEN CHECKING ON THE RECALL, MY VIN WAS NOT ONE LISTED, HOWEVER IT APPEARS TO HAVE THE SAME CAMSHAFT SENSOR IDENTIFIED BY INFINITI.
EXCESSIVE OIL BURNING. WHEN SPARK PLUG'S WERE REMOVED FOR TUNE UP REPLACEMENT, FOUND ONE COATED WITH OIL. LOSS OF APPROXIMATELY 1/2 QUART OF OIL PER 2 WEEK PERIOD. LOOKED UP FORUMS FOUND THAT MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD A PISTON RING PROBLEM.

THIS JUST STARTED FOR ME, I WAS DRIVING ALONG IN TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN ALL OF SUDDEN MY CAR JUST LOSS POWER AND WOULDN'T ACCELERATE. NOT YET STALLED BUT GOING ABOUT 2 MPH, I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. IT ENDED UP STALLING OUT WHEN I STOPPED, I COULDN'T GET THE VEHICLE STARTED, IT WAS ACTING LIKE IT DIDN'T HAVE GAS, BUT IT DID. A LIGHT SAYING VDC (SLIPPED) TURNED ON AS WELL AS THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON. I EXPERIENCED THE TOTAL LOSS OF POWER WHILE ACCELERATING. NEEDLESS TO SAY I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY CHARGED ME STATING THAT IT WAS ALL FIXED BUT IT DID THE SAME THING ON SATURDAY 9/12/15. 2004 IS NOT A YEAR IMPACTED BY THE RECALL YET I'M HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AS THE 2003 RECALL.

I HAD A LOW OIL LIGHT AND DECIDED TO CHANGE THE OIL AND SPARK PLUGS. WHEN I REMOVED THE SPARK PLUG I FOUND OIL POOLING IN THE SPARK PLUG TUBE AND SAW AN OBVIOUS LEAK IN THE VALVE COVER SEAL. THE OIL LEVEL HAD REACHED 1CM ABOVE THE CONNECTOR IN THE BOOT. THIS CAN POTENTIALLY CAUSE AN ENGINE FIRE WHILE DRIVING. THE VALVE COVERS CONTAIN BAD SPARK PLUG TUBE SEALS. THIS ALLOWS A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF OIL TO POOL IN THE SPARK PLUG TUBE. WHEN THE OIL REACHES THE SPARK PLUG BOOT IT CAN IGNITE AND CAUSE ENGINE FIRES AT HIGH SPEED. *TR
DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH AND MY ENGINE STALLED WITH ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS ON. I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE WITH NO POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. TURN THE IGNITION KEY OFF AND WAIT A COUPLE OF MINUTES TO START THE ENGINE. THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT STAYED ON. THE DEALER RAN DIAGNOSTICS AND DETECTED A BAD CAM SHAFT SENSOR. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR THE MOST RECENT FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WERE UNAVAILABLE.
THE VQ35DE INFINITI G35 ENGINE CONSUMES OIL QUICKLY. ROUGHLY ABOUT 1QT/1000 MILES. THIS CAR WAS BOUGHT USED IN 2009 WITH 35,000 MILES. OIL CHANGES WITH FILTER AND PLUG HAVE BEEN MADE HABITUALLY EVERY 3,000 MILES WITH MOBIL 1 SYNTHETIC 5W-30 OR 10W-30 DEPENDING ON THE SEASON. I SEE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AMONGST OTHER VQ35DE USERS ON BOTH THE INFINITI G35 AND NISSAN 350Z. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY SOMEONE, BECAUSE INFINITI DOES NOT SEEM TO BE DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT EITHER. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON 93 SOUTH IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC WHEN MY CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. I WAS STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. I IMMEDIATELY THREW ON MY FLASHERS WHILE OTHER CARS WERE WHIZZING BY ME AND CALLED THE STATE POLICE TERRIFIED I WOULD BE HIT AND UNABLE TO MOVE. AFTER I HUNG I UP I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED THE KEY TO OFF. AFTER A FEW MORE MINUTES UNABLE TO BEAR SITTING THERE, I TURNED THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND IT STARTED. I CALLED BACK THE STATE TROOPERS AND WAS TOLD TO JUST GET THE CAR TO A SAFE SPOT AND CALL A TOW TRUCK, I HAD AAA. I DID AND HAD IT TOWED HOME. I HAD IT BROUGHT BY TOW TRUCK THE NEXT MORNING TO MY MECHANIC WHO INFORMED ME I HAD A FAULTY CAM SENSOR. HE SUGGESTED I BRING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP SINCE THESE WERE BEING RECALLED UP UNTIL 2003. I DID AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS JUST THE ECM THAT NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. I INSISTED THAT I WAS CONCERNED I COULDN'T GO THROUGH ANOTHER INCIDENT LIKE FRIDAY NIGHT. THEY CALLED MY MECHANIC AND CALLED ME BACK SAYING THEY WOULD REPLACE THE CAM SENSOR FOR $400. I THINK THEY SHOULD BEAR THE COST OF THE CAM SENSOR AS THIS WAS NO FAULT OF MY OWN AND COULD HAVE KILLED ME. *TR ## VIN FAILED ##
THE VEHICLE STARTED HESITATING AND STALLING FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I WOULD BE DRIVING FOR VARIABLE AMOUNTS OF TIME, FROM 5 TO 20 MINUTES, WHEN THE ENGINE POWER WOULD JUST CUT OUT. THIS WAS AT STOPLIGHTS, WHILE DOING HIGHWAY SPEEDS, AND EVERYTHING IN-BETWEEN, THERE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE ANY CONSISTENT REASON. BASED ON RESEARCH ON VARIOUS WEBSITES, IT APPEARS TO BE A CAMSHAFT OR CRANKSHAFT SENSOR. ONLY THE SENSOR, NOT ANY MECHANICAL FAILURE. THIS IS A SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS FLAW WHEN A SENSOR CAUSES YOUR VEHICLE TO STOP WORKING WHILE DRIVING IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AND OTHER HIGHLY DANGEROUS TIMES. *TR
FIRST, ON 07/28/2012, AT ABOUT 60 MPH WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, NOTICE THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE SORT OF STALLED (SAW THE TACHOMETER DROP COMPLETELY) FOR 1 SECOND AND RESUME OPERATION. CONTINUE DRIVING BUT THE SLIP, VDC AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON. CONTINUED DRIVING THE CAR TO MY DESTINATION, WHICH WAS LESS THAN A MILE FROM THIS INCIDENT. AFTER A WHILE, TRIED TO START THE CAR AND IT WOULD NOT START. IT TOOK A FEW TRIES AND FINALLY DID. DECIDED TO GO BACK HOME AND AS I WAS EXITING THE FREEWAY AT ABOUT 45 MPH (THANKS GOOD) THE CAR'S ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF (THANKS GOD WAS EXITING THE FREEWAY (DON'T WANT TO THINK WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED WITH CARS COMING RIGHT BEHIND ME AT ABOUT 70). WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AFTER A FEW MINUTES AND CONTINUED DRIVING SLOW (ON THE STREETS) TO MY DESTINATION. THE CAR NOW STARTS OK AFTER A WHILE BUT SUDDENLY DIES. TOOK THE CAR TO A REPAIR SHOW AND IT SHOWS A P0335 CODE (CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR). MY MECHANIC SAYS, VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS CARS. ***SAME RECALL AS IN THE 2003 MODEL YEAR*** WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR, FOR SOME ONE TO DIE IN A CAR ACCIDENT FOR NISSAN'S FAILURE TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM THAT WAS REPORTED IN THE 2003 MODELS???
