While driving the car I began to loose steering control . The car would not go in the direction I wanted to go. It was a harrowing experience but I managed to get to my destination. There My father noticed that the right front tire was rubbing the front of the wheel well. After further inspection I could see where the right lower control arm had broken free of the front subframe. I took photos of the damage from different angles .From these I could see that the top of the subframe had severe corrosion while the bottom was intact. I am thankful that I lived through this without suffering injury or death. I reached out to Infinity consumer affairs about this issue and all they could say is that the warranty was up without any concern of this being a major issue with this JX35 Infinity. I feel that a subframe should not break after only 10 Years. This is not an inexpensive car. ( photos attached)
while driving the vehicle randomly looses power to the engine and all electrical power goes off. The dash is completely without power. Engine will not accelerate and looses power steering like the engine is off. After a few moments all power is returned and engine comes back on to normal operation.
THERE IS A POIGNANT BURNING SMELL WHEN MY 2013 JX35 IS FULLY WARMED UP, STOPPED AT LIGHT OR STATIONARY. WAS ABLE TO OBSERVE CLEAR OILY SUBSTANCE ON THE RUBBER SECTION/SIDE OF THE POWER STEERING LINES WHERE IT IS HELD BY THE WHITE FACTORY CONNECTOR AT THE FIREWALL. THE SAME CLEAR SUBSTANCE TRAVELS DOWN CENTRALLY OVER THE CROSS-MEMBER AND ONTO THE HOT EXHAUST SYSTEM AND SMOLDERS/BURNS. THIS APPEARS TO BE A VERY SIMILAR PROBLEM AS THE NISSAN 2013/2014 MURANO CAMPAIGN NUMBER IS: 17V184000. DEALER HAS CONFIRMED LEAK IS POWER-STEERING FLUID AND LINE SHOULD BE REPLACED AT OWNER'S EXPENSE. OWNER'S CONTENTION IS THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD EFFECTING MY AND OTHER UNITS INCLUDING THE NISSAN PATHFINDER. ALL ARE BASED ON MURANO PLATFORM.
WHEN TURNING THE RUBBER, STRANGE SOUND IS HEARD IN THE FRONT.
THE STEERING WHEEL IS LOOSE EVERYTIME I APPLY BRAKE OR PEDAL OR TURNING CORNER. I BRING MY CAR TO DEALER THEY SAY ALL JX35 HAVE THE SAME SMALL AMOUNT OF PLAY IN COLUMN. THEY GIVE ME THE GRAND NEW ONE TO CHECK AND THE GRAND NEW ONE DO NOT HAVE THAT PROBLEM. THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING WITH THAT. I CALL INFINITI HEADQUARTER AND THEY SAID THE SAME THING, THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING WITH THAT PROBLEM ??? *TR
AFTER STARTING THE ENGINE AND AFTER THE STEERING WHEEL ASSUMES ITS DRIVE POSITION, THE STEERING WHEEL WILL HAVE A MOMENT OF FREE PLAY WHERE YOU CAN FEEL THE STEERING WHEEL JUMP AND FINALLY CATCH. I HAVE MENTIONED THIS SEVERAL TIMES TO THE INFINITI DEALER SERVICE DEPT AND THEIR RESPONSE IS THAT ALL JX35'S DO THIS. I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY CAR OR INFINITI (I30 OR M35) EXHIBIT THIS LACK OF STEERING CONTROL. I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED THIS WHILE DRIVING, ONLY ON INITIAL START-UP. *TR
OUR 2013 INFINITI JX AWD HAS EXHIBITED REPEATED LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE. THE FIRST LOSS OF POWER STEERING OCCURRED ON ABOUT AUGUST 26, 2012. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE, BUT THE PROBLEM APPARENTLY COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. ON OR ABOUT SEPTEMBER 3, 2012, THE VEHICLE AGAIN EXHIBITED A LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE ON ABOUT SEPTEMBER 4, 2012, AND WAS EXAMINED BY AN INFINITI FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN. FOLLOWING THIS SERVICE, WE WERE INFORMED THAT THE PROBLEM HAD BEEN FIXED. ON ABOUT FEBRUARY 13, 2013, THE VEHICLE AGAIN EXHIBITED A LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE. *TR
