The vehicle was later taken to the dealer for maintenance, and while at the dealer, the contact was informed that there were nails in the tires and that the tires needed to be replaced. The contact checked the sticker on the door panel for the tire information. The contact stated that the sticker indicated that the wheels were 18-inch rims. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to install the new tires, and the contact was informed that the rims on the vehicle were 17-inch rims. The vehicle was purchased at a CarMax dealer, and the contact asked why the 17-inch rims on the vehicle. The contact was informed that the ride would be better with the 17-inch rims and tires. The rims were not replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000.
