The contact stated while driving approximately 50 MPH, the vehicle erroneously shifted into neutral(N) and stalled inadvertently. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road. The vehicle failed to restart. The message "Service Required - Do Not Shift Gears - Visit Dealer" was displayed temporarily. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer and it was diagnosed and determined that the auxiliary battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
