WHILE DRIVING MY 2001 JAGUAR S-TYPE 3.0, THE CAR SOMETIMES SHUTS OFF, I COULD BE ON THE INTERSTATE OR ON A SECONDARY STREET THE SAME THING HAPPENS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON AND ALSO A MESSAGE ON THE DASH BOARD SAYING,( ENGINE FAIL SAFE MODE ) AND AT THAT TIME THE CAR SHUTS OFF. THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM. *JB
I OWN A 2001 JAGUAR S TYPE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LOWER THE LEFT FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW, IT FELL INTO THE DOOR AND WOULD NOT COME OUT (IT IS POWER DRIVEN). I HAD TO DRIVE AROUND FOR 3 DAYS WITH THE WINDOW DOWN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A BROKEN WINDOW REGULATOR. THEY REPLACED THE REGULATOR SINCE MY VEHICE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY.
I WAS EXITING A PARKING LOT WHEN THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT WHEEL ASSEMBLY FELL OFF OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT THE NUT THAT HOLDS THE BALL JOINT HAD COME OFF AND THAT THE BALL JOINTS ON BOTH SIDES WERE WORN OUT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THERE IS AN NHTSA RECALL, # 00V359002, REGARDING THE SUSPENSION: FRONT: CONTROL ARM: LOWER BALL JOINT. THE VEHICLE HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS AS INDICATED IN THE RECALL; HOWEVER WHEN I CONTACTED A JAGUAR DEALER I WAS INFORMED THAT IT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN. *JB
DEMAND FOR RECALL AND REPAIR OF DEFECTIVE BALL JOINT FRACTURE ON THE 2001 JAGUAR S TYPE.***NO ANSWER REQUIRED*** . *MR WHILE PULLING OUT A PARKING LOT THE VEHICLE RIGHT FRONT TIRE SUDDENLY WENT SIDEWAYS AND REMAINED STUCK IN THAT POSITION. THE BALL JOINT NUT ATTACHED TO THE WHEEL ASSEMBLY HAD COME LOOSE AND AS A RESULT THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE DRIVEN. THE CONSUMER FOUND RECALL 00V-359002 ON THE INTERNET, WHICH DESCRIBED THE FAILURE THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED BUT WAS INFORMED THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED DUE TO VIN. *NM
WHEN TURNING A CORNER VEHICLE MAKES A NOISE. VEHICLE DOES NOT PERFORM THE WAY THAT IT SHOULD, IT SOMETIMES GOES OUT OF THE LANE. THERE IS A FAULTY STABILIZER BAR ON THE VEHICLE, PER THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN.*AK
UPON PRESSING THE WINDOW DOWN BUTTON THE WINDOW WOULD MAKE A HIGH PITCHED SCREECHING NOISE, AND UPON ROLLING THE WINDOW DOWN A FEW INCHES ONE FROSTED NIGHT IT MADE A LOUD POPPING NOISE AND REFUSED TO ROLL UP OR DOWN AFTER THAT. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS WILL COST NEAR $400 TO FIX, AS THE PART MUST BE ORDERED FROM THE DEALERSHIP (THEY SAY IT'S THE REGULATOR THAT'S OUT)AND IT'S VERY EXPENSIVE,PLUS THE COST OF LABOR.*AK
WHILE STOPPED AT STOP LIGHT, EXPERIENCED CAR ON FIRE. A LADY YELLING FOR ME TO GET OUT, I SAW SMOKE DID NOT KNOW IT WAS MY CAR. *BF THE REAR BACK WHEEL HAD FIRE FLAMING OUT AND HAD GONE OUT BEFORE THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED. THE CONSUMER HAD NEW BRAKES PLACED ON THE VEHICLE WHEN IT WAS THREE MONTHS OLD AND HAD RECENTLY PLACED NEW WHEEL BEARINGS ON THE VEHICLE AFTER THE CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT LOAD NOISE. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED INFORMATION ABOUT OTHER SAME MAKE MODELS THAT MAY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. *SC
DOOR LOCKS SOMETIMES FUCNTION INCORRECTLY WHEN UNLOCKING. OCCASIONALLY ONLY THE PASSENGER DOOR WILL UNLOCK USING THE KEY FOB, SOMETIMES THE DRIVER'S DOOR WILL NOT EVEN UNLOCK W/O REPEATED PRESSES OF THE BUTTON.*AK
VERY LOUD "CLUNK" NOISE IS HEARD IN THE WHEELS WHEN DRIVING, AND I AM TOLD IT'S THE BALL JOINT/SUSPENSION THAT'S THE CULPRIT. HAVE YET TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM FIXED BUT I UNDERSTAND IT'S A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT COULD CAUSE ACCIDENT IF THIS PORTION BREAKS.*AK
OWNER OF A JAGUAR S-TYPE 4.0, 2001, 54,000 MILES : A WARNING LIGHT CAME UP INDICATING "SHIFT GEAR FAILURE". THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AS PER THEIR REQUEST TO INVESTIGATE THE SITUATION. AFTER 3 DAYS I WAS TOLD THAT A NEW TRANSMISSION WAS NEEDED. I ASKED HOW A RELATIVELY NEW CAR, VERY WELL KEPT (EVERY SERVICE WAS DONE ON TIME AND AT THE DEALERSHIP) COULD HAVE THIS MAJOR PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS TYPE OF CAR FREQUENTLY HAVE THIS PROBLEMS. JAGUAR IS REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION WITH A REFURBISHED ONE FOR A COST OF $2240.00 PLUS TAX. WHAT CAN I DO TO GET SOME OF THIS EXPENSE BACK. DO I HAVE A VALID CLAIM ? IT IS JUST HARD TO SEE AN EXPENSIVE CAR LIKE THIS HAVE THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM AND SINCE THE INSURANCE EXPIRED (50,000 MILES) JUST BE TOLD TO TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT. ACTUALLY I WAS TOLD THAT JAGUAR WAS DOING ME A FAVOR BY PROVIDING SUCH AN INEXPENSIVE TRANSMISSION THAT THEY TIPICALLY COST ABOUT $6,300.00. *AK
POWER ADJUSTED SEATS ONLY WORK OCCASIONALLY, AS SOMETIMES WHEN THE BUTTON IS PRESSED NO SOUND IS HEARD AND NOTHING HAPPENS AND SOMETIMES IT WORKS AS NEEDED. HE DRIVER'S SEAT BACK WILL NOT STAY ATTATCHED EVEN AFTER HAVING THE DEALERSHIP PUT IT BACK ON FOR ME A COUPLE OF TIMES, IT FALLS COMPLETELY OFF, EXPOSING THE WIRING AND COMPONENTS IN THE SEAT.*AK
LOWER BALL JOINT FAILURE ON 2001 JAGUAR S-TYPE. THE LEFT FAILED@ 52,000 MILES, THE RIGHT FAILED @ 68,000 MILES. *NM *NM
AFTER DRIVING ON A FREEWAY IN DOWNTOWN LA, ARRIVED IN A PARKING STRUCTURE. SUDDENLY AFTER A BIG BANG, THE FRONT LEFT OF CAR COLLAPSED AND STOPPED. IT SEEMED THAT THE BOLT FOR FRONT AXLE SHEARED OFF, AND THE COMPONENT OF THE AXLE (A-ROD?) PUSHED INTO THE TIRE RIM. TWO MONTHS AGO THE CAR SEEMED UNSTABLE DURING THE DRIVING AT SPEED ABOVE 30 MPH. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP IN NOVEMBER (2000 MILES BEFORE THE INCIDENT). THE DEALER INDICATED THAT A BOLT WAS LOOSE AND THEY TIGHTENED IT UP. HISTORICALLY, THIS CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SHIP AT NUMEROUS OCCASIONS FOR THE REASON OF INSTABILITY DURING THE DRIVING AND EACH TIME WE WERE TOLD THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. THE INCIDENT HAS RESULTED IN SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE AND CAUSED A RELEASE OF GASOLINE LEAK. IF THIS INCIDENT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED 10 MINUTES EARLIER, THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN IN A FREEWAY AT A SPEED OF 60 MPH. THE SUDDEN FAILURE WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN FATALITY AND WITH THE GASOLINE LEAK, IT WOULD HAVE CREATED A MAJOR DISTASTOUR. THE CAR HAS 37,000 MILES AND IS JAGUAR S, V8. THE TIRES ARE ONLY TWO MONTHS OLD. THE PROBLEM WAS RECOGNIZED AND THE ACTIONS TAKEN WERE INADEQUATE AND COULD HAVE RESULTED IN DEATH, IF OCCURED 10 MINUTES EARLIER. THE CAR HAS BEEN PURCHASED FROM AND MAINTAINED BY BAUER JAGUAR IN SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA. *AK
VEHICLE ACCELERATES WHEN PUTTING ON BRAKES. THIS HAPPENED ON AT LEAST SIX (6) DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THIS GENERALLY HAPPENS IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. THE WORSE INCIDENT INVOLVED APPLYING GREAT PRESSURE ON THE BRAKES TO THE POINT WHERE THE WHEELS WERE SPINNING (BURNING RUBBER), AND THE ONLY WAY TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP WAS TO SHIFT THE GEAR INTO NEUTRAL.*AK
DEALER REPLACED HEAD GASKET. AT VERY LOW MILES. CONSUMER STATED, THIS VEHICLE EVERY MONTH HAS HAD ONE PROBLEM. *AK
CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO ENGAGE THE SHIFT LEVER INTO DRIVE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. *AK
THE CONSUMER IS HAVING TROUBLE MOVING THE GEAR FROM PARK TO DRIVE ESPECIALLY WHILE ON AN INCLINE. THE VEHICLE HAS TO BE MOVED OR SHAKEN FROM THE OUTSIDE IN ORDER TO RELEASE THE GEAR. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT THE CAUSE WAS UNDETERMINED. *JB
THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION WHILE AT A STOP. THE VEHICLE THAT HIT THE CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING OVER 30 MPH YET THE DRIVERS AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. CONSUMER'S VEHICLE RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TOTALING APPROXIMATELY $15,000. *PH *NLM

CONSUMER WAS AT AN INTERSECTION MAKING A LEFT TURN, AND ANOTHER MOTORIST HIT HER ON DRIVER'S SIDE OF DOOR. VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND RAN INTO A TREE. UPON IMPACT, DUAL AIRBAGS DIDN'T GO OFF. ALSO, DRIVER'S SIDE SEATBELT DIDN'T HOLD HER IN. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK
CONSUMER EXPERIENCED A TIRE BLOW, THE TIRE SIDE WALLS CRUMBLED, CONSUMER HAS SINCE EXPERIENCED TWO MORE TIRE FAILURE THE FRONT PASSENGER AND BACK PASSENGER TIRES, ALL THREE TIRES HAD SIDE WALL COME APART. ( PIRELLI P-ZONE/ 235/50 ZR17 96W).*JB
IN 2001, THE YEAR I BOUGHT THE CAR I HAD A CRASH WHERE I LOST THE COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE CAR. I JUST READ THAT THERE WAS A RECALL OF SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER BALL JOINT WHICH CAN CAUSE THE CRASH. I AM CERTAIN THAT THIS CAUSED MY CRASH AND DUE THIS I WAS UNDER ENORMOUS TENSION FOR 6 - 8 MONTHS. MY CAR WAS IN BODY SHOP FOR 6 MONTHS WHICH CAUSED ME LOT OF PROBLEMS IN MY DAY TO DAY LIFE. *JB
AFTER STARTING VEHICLE AND SHIFTING GEAR EITHER IN DRIVE OR REVERSE VEHICLE COMMENCED TO ACCELERATE AT 3000 OR MORE RPMS. THIS PROBLEM HAD OCCURRED ON THREE OCCASIONS. TAKEN TO THE DEALER SHOP, AND THEY INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE PROBLEM.*AK *JB

INTERIOR REAR VIEW MIRROR IS MOUNTED TOO LOW, THE VIEW OF THE ROAD TO THE RIGHT OF THE CENTER IS BLOCKED, CONSUMER STATES THIS PROBLEM ONLY EXISTS ON JAGUARS EQUIPPED WITH RAIN SENSING WINDSHIELD WIPERS, MIRROR IS MOUNTED TO THE WINDSHIELD BASE BY ONLY A SPHERICAL JOINT, THE JOINT PERMITS ANGULAR ADJUSTMENT FOR THE MIRROR TO AIM TO A PARTICULAR FIELD OF VIEW. *SLC
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY RATE OF SPEED VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUTSDOWN WITHOUT WARNING, CAUSE UNKNOWN. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
WATER ENTERED THE TRUNK WHERE THE BATTERY AND ELECTRIC BOX WERE LOCATED, WHICH CAUSED THE ELECTRIC BOX TO SHORT OUT. *JB
UNDERCARRIAGE IMPACT CAUSED THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. *MR THE CONSUMER STATED HE RAN OVER AN OBJECT IN THE ROAD, POSSIBLY A ROCK OR A PIECE OF CONCRETE ABOUT THE SIZE OF A FOOTBALL WHICH CAUSED THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG TO DEPLOY. *SCC *JB
