THE LIFT GATE LATCH WILL NOT LOCK. IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE I'M HAVING TO DRIVE IT WHILE THE REAR GATE IS NOT SECURED. MY BATTERY DIED BECAUSE THE WARNING LIGHT FOR THE LIFT GATE WOULD NOT GO OFF. WHEN THIS FIRST HAPPENED THE CAR WAS RUNNING BUT IN PARK. THE LIFT GATE WAS OPENED AND NEVER LOCKED SINCE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL ODOR OF OIL DETECTED. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE OIL FILTER HOUSING WAS LEAKING. THE CONTACT CALLED FOX CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (346 GRANT AVENUE RD, AUBURN, NY 13021, (315) 252-7273) HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,281.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed however, the brake failed to engage. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the electronic parking brake needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to the same dealer and the contact was informed that the parking brake module was corroded. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 109,000.
WHEN REFUELING, THE GAS PUMP SHUTS OFF AFTER .2 TO .3 GALLONS REPEATEDLY.
VEHICLE SHUTS OFF, UNEXPECTEDLY, WHILE DRIVING DOWN A MAJOR INTERSECTION, THEN MESSAGE TO SWITCH CAR TO PARK AND RESTART.. TAKES A FEW TRIES TO RESTART
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE HEARD AN ABNORMAL POPPING SOUND COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE AS THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO MAKE THE ABNORMAL NOISES. THE AUTHORITIES WERE CALLED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO NOTIFIED HER THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V447000 (POWER TRAIN) AND THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE CONTACT INITIALLY HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO ZIMMER CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (1086 BURLINGTON PIKE, FLORENCE, KY 41042) WHERE SHE WAS INFORMED THAT SHE HAD TO PAY FOR A SOFTWARE DIAGNOSTIC, WHICH SHE DECLINED. THE CONTACT THEN HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO JEFF WYLER CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF FT THOMAS, KENTUCKY (100 ALEXANDRIA PIKE, FORT THOMAS, KY 41075) WHERE THEY DECLINED TO PERFORM THE SOFTWARE DIAGNOSTIC AND PROVIDED HER WITH AN ESTIMATE FOR THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RECALL REPAIR HAD BEEN PERFORMED PRIOR TO HER OWNING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 138,000
UPON FUELING THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE OPERATES AS IT IS INTENDED TO FOR A BRIEF MOMENT, UNTIL IDLING ON THE ROADS. THE VEHICLE WILL SUDDENLY DROP IN RPMS, AND IF IT GETS FAR ENOUGH, THE VEHICLE STALLS, DIRECTS ME TO SHIFT TO PARK, AND PRESS THE START BUTTON. IN SOME CASES, THE VEHICLE WILL START RIGHT BACK UP, BUT WITH SOME TROUBLE, OR NOT AT ALL. VEHICLE BECOMES A METALLIC VEGETABLE AND STARTS EMITTING A RICH SMELL OF PETROL. THIS ISSUE DOES NOT OCCUR WHEN CONSTANTLY DRIVING AT HIGHER SPEEDS OR AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS DRIVEN 50 MILES AFTER FUELING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE RESTARTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER WHERE THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000.
ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS I HAVE BEEN IN THE PROCESS OF DRIVING THE CAR DOWN A CITY STREET WHEN IT HAS FOR NO KNOWN REASON SHUT OFF AND BECOME IMMEDIATELY INOPERABLE. THE FIRST INCIDENT OF THIS WAS IN JUNE 2020. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A MECHANIC WHERE THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. THEY CHANGED THE OIL AND REPLACED THE BATTERY BUT GOT NO INDICATION FROM THE DIAGNOSTIC REPORT THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG. THEY SUGGESTED I TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC THAT SPECIALIZES IN ELECTRONIC ISSUES. THEY FOUND AN ISSUE IN THE STEERING COLUMN THAT THEY SAID MAY HAVE BEEN THE PROBLEM. I HAD IT REPAIRED AND THOUGHT IT WAS FIXED. THIS PAST SATURDAY (1/16/21) I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE DOWN A CITY STREET WHEN AGAIN, WITH NO WARNING, THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A MECHANIC AGAIN AND AGAIN, THEY CAN FIND NOTHING DIAGNOSTICALLY WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. I HAVE DOCUMENTATION FOR THESE ISSUES BUT IT IS IN THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT OF THE VEHICLE AND IT IS AT THE MECHANICS. I CAN PROVIDE IF NEEDED.
Gas cap warning light. The night it appeared, got gas filled up the car gas tank. Put cap back on tank , pulled out drove approx. 1/4 mile car completely shut down at a red light and has several times. I ask dealership about it. They cleared code. Said I could buy a new cap I did. Did not help. Have it at mechanics today for testing. He thought there was a recall for this problem but I did not find one.
OIL FILTER HOUSING LEAKS DUE TO PLASTIC MATERIAL USED IN CREATION OF PART. MAJOR ISSUE SINCE OIL SPILLS OUT ONTO THE ROADS. TRIED TO REPAIR BUT PART IS BACK ORDERED INDEFINITELY BECAUSE IT'S A MAJOR ISSUE WITH OTHER MODELS TOO.
THIS YEAR JEEP WAS EQUIPPED WITH A PLASTIC ENGINE OIL COOLER HOUSING THAT IS EASILY CRACKED WHEN THE OIL IS CHANGED. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE IT TWICE, AND IT IS LEAKING AGAIN. DUE TO SIGNIFICANT OIL LEAKS AND LOSS OF OIL IN THE ENGINE, I TOOK IT TO THE CHRYSLER AUTO SERVICE CENTER THEY TOLD ME THE "LIFTERS" IN THE ENGINE ARE NOW 'TAPPING' PROBABLY FROM LOSS OF OIL PRESSURE, AND THE COST TO REPLACE BOTH THE ENGINE OIL COOLER HOUSING, AND THE LIFTERS WILL BE ANOTHER $1,900. I'M STILL TRYING TO UNDERSTAND THE THOUGHT PROCESS BEHIND PUTTING A PLASTIC PART ON AN ENGINE KNOWING THAT HOT OIL TRAVEL THROUGH IT????
TRANSMISSION REMAINS IN 3RD GEAR WHEN SLOWING TO A STOP WHICH MAKES ACCELERATION VERY POOR WHEN TRYING TO TURN ACROSS TRAFFIC. IN 3RD GEAR THE ACCELERATION IS VERY SLUGGISH. AS YOU APPLY MORE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTS TO 1ST GEAR WITH A SLAM AND TIRE SPIN. I'VE HAD AT THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD MY VEHICLE HAD THE LATEST FIRMWARE INSTALLED AND THEY COULD DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN. THE TRANSMISSION SHOULD DOWNSHIFT TO 1ST GEAR MUCH SOONER THAN IT DOES. I SUSPECT THIS IS THE REASON THE DRIVETRAIN RECALLS HAVE BEEN HAPPENING. I ENTERED 1/13/2021 IN THE DATE BUT THIS IS A CONSISTENTLY REOCCURRING PROBLEM.
CAR STALLS AFTER REFUELING TO FULL CAPACITY. SHUTTERED AND STALLED 3 TIMES AFTER REFUELING TANK. THE CAR GIVES OFF MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS RANGING FROM TRANSMISSION TO BATTERY, DESPITE THE TRANSMISSION AND BATTERY BEING PERFECTLY FINE. ONCE THE CAR BEGINS TO STALL, THE STEERING LOCKS UP AND ALL POWER IS LOST. THE CAR MUST BE PUT IN PARK AND RESTARTED, SOMETIMES IT STRUGGLES TO RESTART
TRANSMISSION BANGS AND GOES INTO NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING. I WAS DRIVING 70 MPH ON FREEWAY AND HARD A LOUD BANK AND CAR WENT INTO NEUTRAL AND HAD NO GAS PEDAL ALONG WITH DASH LIGHTING STATING SERVICE TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE LIGHT ON. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS AND RECALLS ON THESE AND OTHER SHIFTING PROBLEMS. VERY DANGEROUS AT LEAST
OIL FILTER HOUSING IS LEAKING OIL, COULD BE A FIRE ISSUE.
1) THE SHIFTER LIGHTS CAME ON DRIVING IN FROM TOWN TO MY HOUSE, APPX. 10 MILES, TOOK A PICTURE OF ALL THE LIGHTS ON ON THE SHIFTER. 1-5-2021. WIFE TURN OFF AND ON AT HOME AND LIGHTS DIDN'T LIGHT UP AFTER THEY RESET. HAVE NOT TAKEN IN TO DEALER AS OF1-6-2021. 2) THE DOME LIGHTS STOP WORKING, ALL OF THEM, TOOK IT IN TO DEALER, THEY SAID THE DRIVER VISOR HAS A SHORT SO AS LONG AS I LEAVE THE FUSE TO THE DRIVER SIDE VISOR OFF THE REST OF THE LIGHT WOULD WORK, NEW VISOR COST OVER $500 SO I OPTED TO WAIT TILL I COULD AFFORD IT, I HAVE THE BUMPER TO BUMPER EXTENDED WARRANTY, PAID EXTRA $4500 AS LONG AS I OWE THE DARN THING I THOUGHT IT WOULD FIX THING LIKE THIS, NO IT DOES NOT. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE VISOR WIRING ISSUE BUT MINE WAS NOT COVERED. 2 MONTH LATER DOME LIGHTS HO OUT AGAIN?? CALL DEALER AND TELL ABOUT IT, SAY REPLACE THE LEFT SIDE VISOR FUSE, TRIED IT BLOWS OUT, CALL AGAIN, THEY TELL DON'T REPLACE FUSE ANY MORE?? LEFT WITH NO DOME LIGHTFOR NOW. 3) TRANSMISSION SHIFTING ISSUE IN MOUNTAINS, GOING UPHILL, HAD TO PULL OVER TO SLOWLY RESTART THE SHIFTING PROCESS, MINE YOU THIS WAS A REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION COVERED BY WARRANTY, THIS INCIDENT ISSUED ONLY ONCE AND STARTING SHIFTING OK,DIDN'T TAKE TO DEALER, ALMOST LIKE WHAT FOR, THEY WON'T DO NOTHING BUT RESET. IN CONCLUSION IF I COULD RETURN AND GET SOME RETURN ON IT I WOULD, EVEN AT A LOSS MOSTLY LIKELY TRADING IN FOR A HONDA.TOO DANGEROUS FOR MY WIFE TO DRIVE. NEVER AGAIN NO CHRYSLER PRODUCTS.JEEP WAS A VERY BIG DISAPPOINTMENT.
Transmission shifts extremely hard not only while driving, but while foot is on break - feels as though someone is rear-ending you. The vehicle wants to launch on it's own. I've taken it to the dealership several different occasions. The last trip to the dealership for the problem, the service manager felt what I was describing when he drove it - however, because no codes have popped up they are unable to fix and diagnose the problem as they do not know what is causing it. No warning lights come on, no messages. This occurs DAILY while driving my vehicle. It's very unsafe as I have come extremely close to hitting the car in front of me.
AFTER SPENDING $1,400 DEC 2020 AT THE PUTNAM, CT, JEEP, DODGE, DEALERSHIP, ON THE NEW SHIFT, $300 BEING SOFTWARE UPDATE, AND HVAC ISSUE........NOW MY VEHICLE JUST SHUTS DOWN WHILE I AM DRIVING. THE SHUT DOWN HAPPENS FIVE MINUTES AWAY FROM HOME, RIGHT IN THE SAME SPOT, EVERY DAY. ONCE IT SHUTS DOWN, I AM STUCK THERE, WAIT A MINUTE AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. IT BEGINS TO START IN A STRAINED SORT OF WAY. I LIVE IN A RURAL AREA SO NOT TOO BAD AND NOW I DO NOT LEAVE MY NEIGHBORHOOD ON THE HUGE HILL SIDE SEEING THERE IS MORE TRAFFIC, THE CAR WILL BE STUCK ON THAT HILL WHICH IS A MAIN TRAFFIC STREET. THIS ENGINE TURNING OFF HAPPENS EVERY TIME I TAKE THE CAR OUT IN THE MORNING. SEEMS LESS IF I WARM IT UP FIRST AND DRIVE REALLY SLOW AS THIS HAS HAPPENED BEGINNING OF JANUARY 2021 AND I AM TRYING TO DEAL WITH IT. I AM A SENIOR CITIZEN (NOT WORKING) SO I GO ON ERRANDS OR APPTMTS IN THE MORNING. BEGAN JAN 4TH 2021 AND CONTINUES.
SHIFTER NEEDS SERVICE WARNING LIGHT
AFTER FILLING UP THE GAS TANK, VEHICLE WILL BUCK AND STALL WHILE DRIVING CAUSING A SIGNIFICANT HAZARD TO THE OCCUPANTS. THIS OCCURS EVERY TIME WE FILL UP THE TANK. WE STOP FILLING AFTER THE FIRST CLICK SO WE DO NOT OVER FILL THE VEHICLE. AFTER READING, THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE.
THE VEHICLE HAS A "WHISTLE" ON STARTUP WHEN IT'S COLD. GOES AWAY AFTER A MINUTE OR TWO. SOURCES SAY IT COULD BE THE IDLER PULLEYS BUT I'M NO MECHANIC.
PTU failed at 20,000 miles (vehicle is driven only a few thousand miles per year). Had PTU replaced by dealer (at full dealer charges), but the problem persists and dealer now wants to replace the differential. This appears to be the exact problem meant to be covered by the 2018 (not certain of date ?) warranty extension to 8yrs/150,000, which assessment was confirmed by an independent repair shop. However the vehicle was manufactured a few months prior to the 2014 starting date of such extension and Jeep/Chrysler refuses to cover it. Because the vehicle is outside the covered period, I never received the warranty extension notice and have only just learned about the extension.
After my recalls were addressed with a dealership. I picked up my car and had no speedometer when I turned my car on. And it warned me to service shifter. This is on the start up after recall corrections. Later it started to act like it was trying to shift. Mostly under load conditions driving along. In or out of cruse. It acted like water in the gas,, but that's not the problem. It also started to shift funny slower than it did before. The lights blink on the shifter and and manual will not engage or show up on screen. Could it be caused by my shifter lights?
OIL FILTER ADAPTER FAILED. SLOW OIL LEAK AND THEN GARAGE FLOORING UNDER VEHICLE WAS FULL OF OIL. GOT VEHICLE TO MECHANIC AND HAD 1 QT LEFT. MECHANIC ALSO HAD A DODGE VAN GETTING THE SAME REPAIR, SAME PART, SAME PART #. SEEMS TO BE A BIG PROBLEM WITH KEEP, CHRYSLER, DODGE PER MECHANIC AND INTERNET. ALSO WHEN AT EITHER A STOP OR EVEN TRAVELING ON ROADWAY, VEHICLE BECOMES JERKY AND HAVE TO EITHER PUT IN PARK AND THEN BACK TO DRIVE OR VEHICLE HAS TO BE RESTARTED. BATTERY CAN DRAIN FROM 13.9 DOWN TO 12.7 WHEN THIS IS HAPPENING. THIS CURRENT BATTERY IS THE 4TH BATTERY FOR THIS VEHICLE.
MY HUSBAND WAS SITTING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND ACCELERATED WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN. AS HE PROCEEDED THROUGH THE INTERSECTION THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD POP NOISE AND THEN THE ENGINE WENT TO A HIGH REV AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. HE COASTED DOWN A HILL WITH NO POWER AND WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A PARKING LOT. A FEW MONTHS BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION FAILED, I HAD NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE KEPT JUMPING WHILE I WOULD HAVE MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. WHEN I HAD MY OIL CHANGED AT THE DEALERSHIP LAST FALL, I ASKED IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS AND EXPLAINED HOW THE VEHICLE WOULD JUMP - AS IF I HAD BEEN REAR-ENDED - AND I WAS TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE WAS UP-TO-DATE ON ALL RECALLS. I ONLY HAD 59,082 MILES ON MY VEHICLE WHEN THE TRANSMISSION FAILED.
JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR FROM PRIVATE OWNER, I ASKED OF ANY RECALLS, SHE TOLD ME NONE AT ALL. DIDN'T EVEN HAVE IT A WEEK AND TRANSMISSION STUCK IN NEUTRAL AND COULDN'T REMOVE THE KEYS.
CONSTANT TRANSMISSION ISSUES/ JERKS AND HARD THRUSTS. BEEN IN JEEP DEALERSHIP MANY TIMES WITH COMPLAINT. SAME ISSUES NOW OUT OF WARRANTY. NOW AS OF DEC 25 2020, VEHICLE WENT COMPLETELY DEAD , CAME BACK ON AND NOW THROWS ALL SERVICE LIGHTS ON DASH AND VEHICLE WILL NOT MOVE OUT OF GEAR. HAVE TO DISCONNECT BATTERY TO PUT INTO PARK/NEUTRAL TO MOVE OUT OF WAY. UNDRIVEABLE . THIS 2014 LATTITUDE HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE AND AN UNSAFE VEHICLE FROM THE BEGINNING. UNFORTUNATELY I WAS UPSIDE DOWN ON FINANCE OR IT WOULD HAVE BEEN GONE. NOW WITH IT ALMOST BEING PAID OFF I AM IN FINANCIAL RUIN OVER THIS ONCE AGAIN. UNSAFE VEHICLE.
MY TRANSMISSION SHIFTS HARD, CLUNKS INTO GEAR, JERKS, SOMETIMES DOESN'T RESPOND TO ACCELERATION. I HAD IT COMPLETELY REPLACED WITH BILLION AUTOMOTIVE VIA SERVICE MANAGER MIKE LAVIN IN 2018. THE NEW TRANSMISSION IS ACTING EXACTLY THE SAME WAY.
ON A ROLLING STOP OR BUMP STOP THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT DOWNSHIFT AND STAYS IN 3RD GEAR. ACCELERATION IS DANGEROUSLY SLUGGISH, AS YOU STEP HARDER ON THE GAS AS TRAFFIC APPROACHES THE TRANSMISSION SLAMS INTO 1ST GEAR OR GOES INTO NEUTRAL. I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO THE DEALER MANY TIMES. HAVE ALL THE LATEST FLASH UPDATES. THIS TRANSMISION IS DANGEROUS !!!
I HAVE TO HAVE MY PTU AND ACTUATOR REPLACED DUE TO FAULTY SPLINES. THERE IS A RECALL BUT SOME HOW MY VEHICLE IS NOT IN THAT RECALL. EVEN THOUGH THE SAME ISSUE HAS HAPPENED TO MY 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE TRAILHAWK. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE PTU SPLINE WORE COMPLETELY OFF. I HAVE TALKED TO OTHERS ABOUT THIS RECALL AND EVEN LATER YEARS 2015 AND ON HAVE BEEN RECALLED. NOW I'M OUT OF POCKET $1200 FOR A FAULTY PTU FROM THE FACTORY. I THINK IT'S TERRIBLE THAT JEEP IS SENDING THESE VEHICLES OUT THE DOOR KNOWING THAT THIS AN ISSUE.
WHILE EITHER SLOWING TO A STOP OR ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE "JERKS", OR "LUNGES". THOUGH I APPLY THE PEDALS SMOOTHLY (GRADUALLY), THE CAR MOVES AS IF I WERE PUMPING THE BRAKE AT ~1 SECOND INTERVALS. BECAUSE THE CAR IS IN DRIVE AND MY FOOT IS NOT ON THE BRAKE, THIS CAUSES DRIVERS BEHIND ME TO GET AWFULLY CLOSE (AS MY BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT SIGNAL THAT I AM STOPPING). THIS HAPPENS CHRONICALLY (>1X /WEEK).
THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE SHIFTER. WHEN I'M DRIVING I GET ALERTED THAT THE VEHICLE IS UNABLE TO SHIFT GEARS UNLESS IN PARK AND I'M UNABLE TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE. I HAVE TO STOP THE VEHICLE, TURN IT OFF AND RESTART. A FEW MINUTES AFTER DRIVING THE SAME THING HAPPENS ALL OVER AGAIN. BEFORE THIS HAPPENED, A FEW MONTHS BACK THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON BUT THEN WENT AWAY.
I WENT TO GET MY OIL CHANGED AND WAS TOLD AND SHOWED (IN PICTURES TAKEN BY THE ATTENDANT) THAT MY VEHICLE HAS SEVERAL OIL LEAKS. THE ATTENDANT ALSO TOLD ME THAT IT WAS A POSSIBILITY THAT THE VEHICLE COULD CATCH ON FIRE BECAUSE OF THE OIL LEAKS. I WAS THEN ASKED IF I HAD HAD ANY MECHANICAL WORK DONE ON MY VEHICLE AND I REPLIED NO SINCE I HADN'T HAD ANY WORK DONE OTHER THAN MAINTENANCE. THE MANAGER THEN TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD BE VERY ANGRY AND TAKE MY VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE IT SEEMED LIKE THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION WERE NOT PUT TOGETHER PROPERLY WHICH IS WHY I HAVE SEVERAL OIL LEAKS.
I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR LOST POWER AND STOPPED. THE CAR TURNS ON BUT WILL NOT DRIVE AND THEN EVENTUALLY SHUTS DOWN .
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE TRANSMISSION INADVERTENTLY SHIFTED TO THE NEUTRAL CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LOSE MOTIVE POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THE CAUSE AS AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE. ADDITIONALLY, THE TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE WAS REPROGRAMMED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V447000 (POWER TRAIN). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000. *BF VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPAIRED.*JB
CAR WHILE RUNNING OR DRIVING JUST STALLS FOR NO REASON. ALL ELECTRICAL GOES OUT AS WELL. ALSO MIGHT JUST NOT START - ESSENTIALLY DEAD. OPEN FRONT DOOR AND CLOSE IT AND THE CAR STARTS AGAIN. IT HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY OVER THE LAST 3 MONTHS. MECHANICS ARE ALL OVER THE PLACE ON THE CAUSE.
THE PTU AND ACTUATOR WENT OUT DUE TO THE SPLINES ON THE PTU. WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS OUT OF THE DATE FOR THAT PTU. EVEN THOUGH THE ISSUE HAS OCCURRED BEFORE AND AFTER THIS MODEL YEAR.
IN MOTION ON FREEWAY, VEHICLE LOST ALL DRIVABILITY...POWER TRANSFER UNIT HAD TO BE REPLACED. ONE AND A HALF MONTHS LATER, WHILE ON MOTION THE VEHICLE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE PUT INTO PARK. POWER TRANSFER UNIT HAD TO BE REPLACED A SECOND TIME.
KEEPS SAYING SHIFT TO PARK, THEN DESIRED GEAR. RUNS RUFF AND THEN DIES. RESTARTED IT 5 TIMES. THE TAILGATE WAS FIXED ONCE AND ONLY WORKED FOR ABOUT A WEEK. CHANGED THE FUSES AND IT STILL DOES NOT WORK WHEN YOU PRESS THE TAIL GATE BUTTON ON THE KEY FOB, OR INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE SPEEDOMETER FLASHES ALL THE TIME.
VEHICLE IN MOTION AFTER FUELING. EVERY TIME I FILL MY TANK, MY JEEP STARTS BUCKING AND SOMETIMES NONE RESPONSIVE, IT ALSO SHUTS OFF WHEN I COME TO A STANDSTILL. WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING, I CAN FLOOR THE ACCELERATOR AND THE RPM STAYS THE SAME. THE BEHAVIOR IS ONLY ON A FULL TANK, AFTER 50 MILES IT STOPS. DANGEROUS AS WHEN I AM IN MOTION THE JEEP STALLS REGARDLESS OF THE SPEED I AM GOING AT.
2014 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE 4 CYLINDER, BATTERY WENT COMPLETELY DEAD THEN CAME BACK IN A HOUR, THEN SHIFT (ZF 9 SPEED TRANSMISSION) GOT STUCK IN NEUTRAL. THE ONLY WAY TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE WAS TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY SEEING IT WAS THE WEEKEND. TODAY 12/3/20, TOLD THAT JEEP DEALERSHIP SOFTWARE FIXED THE SOFTWARE ISSUE, BUT I WAS TOLD THAT I MUST HAVE BROKEN THE SHIFT WHILE TRYING TO GET IT INTO GEAR (NOT TRUE) AND MUST PAY $300.00 FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC BESIDES THE ENTIRE HVAC SYSTEM HAD TO BE REPLACED (WHICH MEANT "NO HEAT" IN THE CAR OR VENTING WHICH WAS ALREADY BROKEN BEFORE INCIDENT BUT WE HAD NOT NEEDED ANY HEAT. WHEN THE CAR GEAR STUCK, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN MOTION AND I COULD NOT SHUT THE ENGINE OFF SO THE BATTERY HAD TO BE DISCONNECTED. SO COST OF DIAGNOSTIC, NEW SHIFT ENTIRELY, AND NEW HVAC SYSTEM AND THE CAR DOES NOT HAVE 100,000 MILES YET.*DT CONSUMER STATED DEALERSHIP IS CURRENTLY WAITING FOR NEW SHIFT TO REPLACE THE BROKEN ONE.*JB
THIS IS MY SECOND COMPLAINT. I HAVE HAD NO FEEDBACK FROM MY FIRST COMPLAINT WHICH BOTHERS ME SINCE IT A SAFETY RISK TO ME AND MY FAMILY. RECENTLY I REPLACED THE BATTERY. I ALWAYS LET THE CAR WARM UP BEFORE DRIVING AT THE START OF THE DAY AND HAVE OBSERVED THE CAR STALL SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNING. FORTUNATELY I HAVE AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT FROM BEING REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME AND THROUGHOUT THE DAY. MY SERVICE AT THE DEALER IS UPTO DATE AND THEY HAVE NOT INDICATED ANY ISSUES. PLEASE ADDRESS THIS SAFETY RISK IMMEDIATELY.
IN OCTOBER OF 2020 WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MY JEEP SHUT OFF AND LOST ALL MOTIVE AND ELECTRIC POWER. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND THE BRAKES APPLIED THEMSELVES. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING, DOING ABOUT 40-45MPH. A MESSAGE CAME UP THAT SAID PUT VEHICLE IN PARK AND TURN OFF. AFTER DOING SO MY WIFE WAS ABLE TO TURN THE VEHICLE BACK ON AND GET HOME SAFELY. WE TOOK OUR JEEP INTO TO BE LOOKED AT BY THE DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID THEY FOUND A CODE FOR LOW VOLTAGE BUT THE BATTERY WAS GOOD, JUST LOOSE CONNECTIONS. . NO OTHER CODES WERE PRESENT. THEY ALSO STATED THAT THEY FOUND LOOSE GROHND CABLES TO THE CHASSIS AND PCM, BOTH WERE TIGHTENED. ON 11/18/2020 AFTER FILLING MY GAS TANK, I TURNED ON TO THE FRONTAGE ROAD AND MY JEE AGAIN LOST ALL POWER. GAVE ME A MESSAGE THAT VEHICLE MUST BE STOPPED BEFORE SHIFTING GEARS.
AUTOMATIC DOWNSHIFTING ROUGH, OFTEN WILL STAY IN HIGHER GEAR WHEN DEFENDING, CAUSING JARRING WHEN TURNING AS THE VEHICLE HAS TO JUMP FROM 5TH GEAR TO 2ND WHEN MAKING THE TURN. DOWNSHIFTING IN GENERAL IS ROUGH AND UNPREDICTABLE.

SEVERAL CODES CAME UP AND WERE ADDRESSED BUT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. CODES WERE U0131, U0418, U0131-87, U0415 AND U0428. NO ISSUE UNTIL CAR WAS SERVICED FOR THE LATEST RECALL. CAR WITH DEALER. SAY IT'S A COMPLETE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM REPAIR. NOT ONCE HAVE I HAD AN ISSUE WITH MY CAR IN 4YRS UNTIL DEALER SERVICED IT FOR STEERING WHEEL RECALL.

TRANSMISSION FAILED DRIVING DOWN A TWO LANE HILL INTO TOWN AT 35-40 MPH. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TRANSMISSION DID NOT WANT TO RE-ENGAGE AFTER COMPLETE STOP. FELT LIKE TRANSMISSION WAS STARTING OUT IN 5TH OR 6TH GEAR. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER. DEALER HAS ESTIMATED REPLACEMENT OF TRANSMISSION TO $5000. THAT'S 25% THE PURCHASE PRICE OF THE VEHICLE. IF TRANSMISSION PURCHASED FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE, IT STILL HAS TO GO BACK TO DEALER FOR COMPUTER PROGRAMMING.

AFTER INSPECTION I FOUND MY TRUNK FULL OF WATER AND FOUND MY BRAKE CONTROL MODULE FULL OF WATER AND CORRODE IT. I CALL THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY NEVER HEARD ABOUT ANY ISSUES LIKE THIS AND THERE IS NOT RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE, AFTER CHECKING ONLINE LOOKS LIKE IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS CAR MODELS AND I CANT BELIEVE IS NOT A RECALL FOR WATER GETTING INTO YOUR JEEP CHEROKEE TRUNK. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD FOR DRIVERS BECAUSE THIS CAN HAPPEN EVEN WHEN YOU DRIVING YOUR CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. I HOPE NHTSA LOOK INTO THIS SAFETY ISSUE AND HAVE IT RESOLVE WITH JEEP.
