WHILE DRIVING, WHEN I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL IN ORDER TO COAST, THE CAR WILL ACCELERATE. WHILE DRIVING, WHEN I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS AND BEGIN TO BRAKE, MY CAR WILL ACCELERATE. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ON OCT 30, 2014. IT WAS A MINIMAL OCCURRENCE AND WOULD COME AND GO, BUT NOW IT OCCURS EVERY SINGLE TIME I DRIVE THE CAR. THIS DAILY ISSUE WHERE MY VEHICLE ACCELERATES WHEN IT SHOULD NOT HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE APPROXIMATELY MID-LATE NOVEMBER 2014. *JS
SINCE GETTING THIS VEHICLE IN OCT. 2014 WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH IT. THE CAR SWITCHES GEARS WHEN IT SHOULDN'T AND LUNGES FORWARD. ALSO WHEN YOU SLOW DOWN TO STOP THE CAR LURCHES AND SHAKES BEFORE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. SOMETIMES YOU CAN FEEL THE PEDAL PUMPING UNDER YOUR FOOT WHEN YOU ARE MOVING SLOWLY IN TRAFFIC. WHENEVER YOU ARE GOING UP ANY TYPE OF HILL THE ENGINE SOUNDS LIKE IT IS GOING TO EXPLODE. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASED IT NUMEROUS TIMES AND CONTINUE TO JUST BE TOLD THAT IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE'S. THERE IS ALSO A CLICKING NOISE BY THE TIRES WHENEVER YOUR MAKE A TURN. WE ALSO TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS AND THEY CLAIM THEY DIDN'T NOTICE ANYTHING. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE WHEEL IS GOING TO FALL OFF! WE SHOULD NOT HAVE THESE PROBLEMS WITH A CAR THAT HAS LESS THAN 20,000 MILES ON IT! I CANNOT WAIT TO GET RID OF THIS JEEP. I'VE HAD OLDER CARS IN THE PAST AND HAD NOT NEARLY THE AMOUNT OF PROBLEMS AS I HAVE HAD WITH THIS JEEP. IT DOESN'T FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE. JEEP IS WELL AWARE OF THIS ISSUE YET THEY CONTINUE TO DO NOTHING ABOUT IT.
PURCHASED A 2014 CHEROKEE TRAILHAWK WITH 0 MILES ON OCT 25. AT 200 MILES, AND 48 HOURS LATER I TOOK IT ONTO THE BEACH. AS SOON AS IT GOT INTO THE SAND, IT DROPPED TO 2ND GEAR AND RPMS SHOT UP TO JUST OVER 3000. CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF SECOND. TEMP WENT UP TO 230. LATER ON ALL COMPUTERS IN CAR STARTED TO FLASH LIKE WHITE NOISE. BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS GIVEN A VARIETY OF EXCUSES. BAD ABS SENSOR, LOOSE FUSE ETC. WENT TO PICK THE CAR UP FROM THE DEALER AFTER HOURS WHEN THEY WERE CLOSED. AS SOON AS I TURNED IT ON, FLASHING WHITE NOISE ON ALL THE SCREENS.I ALSO TOOK IT ON THE BEACH A DAY OR TWO LATER, AND AGAIN CAR WOULDN'T SHIFT OUT OF SECOND GEAR ON THE BEACH. THE CAR NOW BEGAN TO SHIFT VERY ERRATICALLY. IT WOULD UP SHIFT VERY FAST ACCELERATE WHEN MY FOOT WAS NOT ON THE GAS. WHEN COMING TO A STOP IT WOULD DOWN SHIFT SO HARD. WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER, (NOW WITH 700 MILES ON IT) THEY TOLD ME THEY WERE REPLACING THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION. THEY HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR 3 WEEKS TOTAL. FINALLY PICKED UP THE CAR LAST WEEK.WHEN I GOT INTO THE CAR THE ODOMETER READY 6000 MILES! I DROPPED IT OFF WITH 700.I TOLD HIM FOR THE 3RD TIME THAT I DID NOT WANT IT. I HAVE ALSO BEEN DEALING WITH A JEEP RESOLUTION TEAM FROM CHRYSLER.ITS BEEN A WEEK, THE CAR IS SHIFTING MORE ERRATIC THAN IT HAS SINCE THE NEW TRANSMISSION. THE SUNROOF LEAKS WATER, THE WINDSHIELD IS CONSTANTLY FOGGED AND LOOKS LIKE THERE IS A CLEAR COAT THAT MAY HAVE GOTTEN ON THE CAR THAT MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE WHEN DRIVING. ALSO, WHEN I TURN THE FLOOR HEAT ON, THE FRONT DEFROSTER COMES ON.CHRYSLER CONTACTED ME ON FRIDAY, AND MY JEEP HAS OFFICIALLY BEEN DEEMED A LEMON, AND I AM ENTITLED TO A REPLACEMENT. I DON'T WANT A REPLACEMENT. I WANT A FULL REFUND AND TO HEAD OVER TO THE TOYOTA DEALER. *TR
LATER AFTERNOON, I HAD TROUBLE ENGAGING THE TRANSMISSION INTO REVERSE. I WAS FINALLY SUCCESSFUL ENGAGING THE TRANSMISSION AND HEADED HOME (50 MILES OF BACKROAD/HIGHWAYS). ABOUT 1/2 MILE FROM HOME, THE "MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT" APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD, FOLLOWED BY THE "TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE WARNING LIGHT". IN ABOUT 500 FEET I ARRIVED AT AN INTERSECTION AND STOPPED. WHEN I ACCELERATED AWAY FROM THE INTERSECTION - THE ENGINE REV'D (RPM'S JUMPED) BUT THE CAR WOULD BARELY MOVE. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT IN THIS CONDITION THE REMAINING 4 BLOCKS TO HOME. I CALLED A TOW TRUCK AND THEY TOWED TO THE DEALER. NOTE: THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER HAD DIFFICULTY ENGAGING THE TRANSMISSION TO MOVE THE VEHICLE OFF THE STREET. THE DEALER HAD THE VEHICLE FOR 8 DAYS. THEY ADVISED THEY FOUND OLD CODES, BUT COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY INSTALLED A SOFTWARE UPGRADE ON THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE AND RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO ME. THE CAR NOW SEEMS TO SHIFT "ROUGH". *TR
AT A HIGHWAY CRUISING SPEED, WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS RELEASED AND THE CAR IS ALLOWED TO DECELERATE ITSELF WITHOUT PRESSING THE BRAKE, AT CERTAIN DOWNSHIFTS THE CAR WILL EXPERIENCE A JUMP IN ENGINE RPM OF 1000 AND THE CAR WILL LURCH FORWARD AND ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. THIS IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS WHEN GOING AROUND CURVES OR IF THERE WERE ICE ON THE ROAD OR THE CAR WERE HYDROPLANING. CHRYSLER JEEP HAS NOT RELEASED A FIX OR A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE AND IT IS BEING SAID THAT IT IS NORMAL FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO DO THIS. I BELIEVE IT IS A DANGEROUS CONDITION WITH HIGH POTENTIAL FOR ACCIDENTS UNLESS FIXED. *TR
TRANSMISSION SLIPPING AND BANGING. SLIPS AT START FROM STOP
WHILE SLOWING DOWN, WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, AS THE CAR APPROACHED 20 MPH, THE RPM SUDDENLY INCREASED AND THE CAR ACCELERATED. MY FOOT WAS NOT ON THE ACCELERATOR. I TESTED THIS MULTIPLE TIMES AND IT OCCURRED EVERY TIME!! ALSO, THE CAR HAS SHIFTED ROUGHLY SINCE THE DAY WE TOOK IT HOME. IT IS GETTING WORSE. I HAD TO APPROACH TRAFFIC LIGHTS MORE CAREFULLY TO ASSURE I WAS FAR ENOUGH BEHIND OTHER DRIVERS SO IF THE CAR LURCHED (IT DOES), I WOULD NOT HIT THE CAR IN FRONT. I AM NOT CERTAIN, BUT IT FELT LIKE THE CAR WAS ALSO DOING THIS AT ABOUT 70 MPH. I DID NOT HAVE A CHANCE TO TEST THIS MUCH. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE TRANSMISSION MUST BE REPLACED!!! THE CAR IS 7 MOS OLD. THEY SAID THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE, SO THEY DO NOT KNOW WHEN I WILL GET MY CAR BACK!! OMGOSH! I WANT A NEW CAR! WHEN I GET THIS BACK, I WILL LIKELY TRADE IT. *TR
WHILE PARKING THE VEHICLE, THE PARKSENSE FEATURE DISABLED ON ITS OWN. IMMEDIATELY THEREAFTER, THE RED LIGHTNING BOLT INDICATOR LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASH, WHICH HAS BEEN KNOWN TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL, GLOW PLUGS, SWIRL MOTOR FAILURE (LOW PRESSURE IN RAIL OR FUEL RAIL PRESSURE MALFUNCTION) AND ALSO SPEED SENSORS. THE VEHICLE THEN REVVED UP ON ITS OWN WITHOUT ACCELERATION WHILE MY FOOT WAS POSITIONED FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THAT, THE WORD "TRANSMISSION" APPEARED ON THE DASH, THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, THEN THE COLLISION INDICATOR AS IF A CAR CRASH HAD OCCURRED, WHICH IT HAD NOT. FINALLY, THE POWER STEERING BECAME VERY STIFF. DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP IT WAS PURCHASED FROM AND THEY SAID THE CODES WERE UNKNOWN LIKE HIEROGLYPHICS. LEFT VEHICLE THERE. THE FOLLOWING MONDAY THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THERE WERE 3 SOFTWARE UPGRADES THAT WERE NEEDED ON THE VEHICLE, HOWEVER, THOSE UPGRADES DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. TECHNICIAN ALSO INFORMED ME THE CAR WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND THEY DIDN'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT THEMSELVES AND GOT OFF OF THE HIGHWAY DURING A TEST RUN. THE TECHNICIAN FURTHER EXPLAINED THE VEHICLE HAD 3 TEST RUNS AND FAILED ALL 3 AND IT WAS BEYOND THEIR EXPERTISE SO CHRYSLER ENGINEERS WOULD BE CONSULTED THIS WEEK. LASTLY, THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED ME I "MAY BE AHEAD OF A RECALL ISSUE." THE CAR IS 5 AND HALF MONTHS OLD. I ORDERED THE CAR, MEANING, I HAD IT MADE/BUILT FROM THE MANUFACTURER. IT WAS NOT A CAR PURCHASED FROM THE LOT. THEREFORE, NO OTHER DRIVERS OF THE CAR AND IT IS BRAND NEW. IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE CHEROKEE HAS BEEN OUT OF PRODUCTION FOR MANY YEARS UNTIL THE 2014 RELEASE. AS A SIDE NOTE, I REMEMBER AN INCIDENT THAT OCCURRED THE WEEK PRIOR WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD DIFFICULTY SHIFTING GEARS (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). INSTEAD IT STALLED AND REVVED ON ITS OWN. *TR
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO BACK MY 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE 4X2 INTO A PARKING SPACE BETWEEN 2 PARKED CARS ON THE LEFT SIDE OF A ONE WAY STREET, THE CAR SLID TO THE LEFT SLAMMING THE LEFT REAR QUARTER OF MY CAR INTO THE RIGHT FRONT OF THE PARKED CAR CAUSING DAMAGE TO BOTH CARS. I WAS ATTEMPTING TO BACK UP INTO A SPACE ON A SLIGHTLY INCLINED STREET. I HAD TO APPLY SOME EXTRA POWER TO MY JEEP. HOWEVER IT WENT SIDEWAYS INSTEAD OF STRAIGHT BACK INTO THE PARKING SPOT. I THOUGHT I DID NOT PLAN THE MANEUVER CORRECTLY BUT WHAT HAPPENED IS THAT MY REAR LEFT TIRE LOST TRACTION TO THE ROAD WHICH MADE THE CAR TRAVEL SIDEWAYS INSTEAD OF STRAIGHT. I HAD REPORTED SOME RUBBING NOISE COMING FROM THE TIRES EARLIER IN THE WEEK AND SOME MINOR PLY IN THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE DEALER. THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE RUBBING NOISE AND REPORTED FIXING THE STEERING WHEEL. I PICKED UP THE CAR ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT PROBLEMS WERE STILL THE SAME. I AM GUESSING THAT THERE IS A MAJOR FLAW IN THE ESC THAT MADE THE CAR PERFORM IN THAT FLAWED MANNER. THE ESC LIGHT CAME ON AFTER THAT HIT AND WOULD NOT GO OFF. THE STEERING WHEEL NOW MORE CROCKED. AND THE REAR LEFT WHEEL LOOKS LIKE BENT. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER ON MONDAY BUT THEY WOULD NOT CONSIDER LOOKING AT IT UNTIL THE ACCIDENT IS FIXED. SO NOW IT IS IN THE SHOP. *TR
IF HELD CONTINUOUSLY, CRUISE CONTROL WILL JUMP FROM SINGULAR SPEED INCREASES/DECREASES TO 5 MPH AT A TIME RESULTING IN A LOSS OF SPEED CONTROL OR TO DESCRIBE IT ANOTHER WAY, UNINTENDED ACCELERATION OR DECELERATION. *JS
MAC HAIK DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM; 10/15/2014 - VISITED SERVICE CENTER FOR INSPECTION TO CONFIRM RECALL AFFECTED MY JEEP. THEY INDICATED THAT IT DID AND WOULD ORDER PARTS FOR REPLACEMENT. 03/05/2015 - STILL NO PARTS OR REPAIRS COMPLETED, CALLED DEALER ON 3 OCCASIONS IN THE LAST 5 MONTH AND THEY STATED THAT PARTS ARE STILL ON ORDER. *TR
EVER SINCE THE FIRST UPDATE TO THE TCM, THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN SLIPPING AND THEN GRABBING. MORE THAN ONCE, IT HAS SLIPPED WHEN I HAD TO PULL OUT INTO FAST MOVING TRAFFIC. THE LAST TIME, I NEEDED TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC. AS I PUSHED ON THE ACCELERATOR, THE RPMS INCREASED, BUT THE SPEED DIDN'T. THE ENGINE RPM'S SPUN UP TO AROUND 6000 RPM AND I WAS ONLY TRAVELLING 15 MPH. ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE TRANSMISSION GRABBED. THE WHEELS CHIRPED AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. I WAS NEARLY HIT FROM BEHIND DUE TO THE FAILURE OF THE JEEP TO ACCELERATE PROPERLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE FLAT TOWING THE VEHICLE WITH THE RV AND DRIVING OVER VERY ROUGH TERRAIN AT 25 MPH, THE JEEP WOULD WOBBLE OUT OF CONTROL. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT WOULD LOSE CONTROL OF THE RV. WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AFTER IT HAD BEEN TOWED, THE STABILITY CONTROL AND STEERING WARNING LIGHTS WOULD ILLUMINATE. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE, BUT WERE UNABLE TO RESOLVE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 290,006. UPDATED 01/20/16*LJ *TR
WHEN DRIVING THE CAR AND YOU STEP ON THE BRAKE AND THEN TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF OF THE BRAKE, THE CAR STARTS TO ACCELERATE EVEN THOUGH YOU DON'T PUT YOUR FOOT BACK ON THE GAS. THE CAR ALSO TAKES ALONG TIME TO DECELERATE WHEN YOU PUT YOUR CAR GENTLY ONTO THE BRAKE AND THEN TAKE IT OFF OF THE BRAKE, IT JUST SEEMS TO MAINTAIN THE PREVIOUS SPEED FOR ABOUT 20 SECONDS. *TR
AS HAS BEEN REPORTED BY OTHERS, MY JEEP CHEROKEE HAS BRAKE FOR NO APPARENT CAUSE ON THREE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THE "COLLISION IMMINENT" TONE HAS SOUNDED AT THE SAME TIME. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT OR LOSS OF CONTROL AT THE TIME THIS HAPPENED, BUT IT WAS DISCONCERTING. ON TWO OTHER OCCASIONS, THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED, BUT THESE WERE TRIGGERED BY A CAR LEAVING THE ROAD TO THE RIGHT SIDE, TO TURN AT AN ANGLE INTO A STREET THAT BRANCHED OFF THE ROUTE I WAS ON. ALTHOUGH THE CAR WAS CLEARLY OUT OF THE PATH OF THE CAR, APPARENTLY THE COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM THOUGHT THAT MY CAR WAS CLOSING ON THE OTHER CAR TOO QUICKLY, AND AGAIN SOUNDED THE WARNING AND SLOWED THE CAR DOWN. AGAIN, THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS WITH CONTROL OF THE CAR, AND NO ACCIDENT, ALTHOUGH DRIVERS BEHIND ME HAD TO SLOW DOWN BY ABOUT 15 MILES PER HOUR BELOW THE SPEED LIMIT. I HAVE LEARNED TO LEAVE SOME EXTRA DISTANCE BETWEEN ME AND CARS TURNING OFF FOR JUST THIS REASON. *TR
THE CAR FAILS TO ACCELERATE WHILE DRIVING. IT WILL DOWNSHIFT HARD AND THEN FEEL AS IF I AM GLIDING ALONG. WARNING LIGHTS HAVE COME ON WHILE DRIVING AND THEN GO OFF WHEN PULL OVER TO STOP. IT HAS TOTALLY STOPPED WORKING ON TWO OCCASIONS-NO POWER-THEN MAGICALLY STARTS AGAIN. THE TRANSMISSION HAS ALREADY BEEN REPLACED ONCE AND IT STILL HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS. IT HAS BECOME A SAFETY ISSUE AS I NEVER KNOW IF IT WILL ACCELERATE IN TRAFFIC. THE DEALER HAS BEEN TOLD SEVERAL TIMES. NOW THERE IS A RECALL AND THE REMEDY IS NOT YET AVAILABLE. IT IS VERY SCARY TO DRIVE.
SO FAR, I HAVE EXPERIENCED THREE ISSUES WITH MY BRAND NEW JEEP CHEROKEE 2014. 1. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION, THE VEHICLE VIBRATES/WOBBLES, WHILE AT LOW FIRST GEAR SPEEDS. 2. WHEN BREAKING TO STOP, A BRIEF SURGE OF ACCELERATION HAPPENS JUST BEFORE THE STOP COMPLETES. 3. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM ANY SPEED, THE VEHICLE HESITATES WITH A JERKINESS BEFORE SHIFTING INTO GEAR. I PLAN TO BRING THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP, BUT, RESEARCH TO DATE INDICATES THERE ARE NO RESOLUTIONS FOR THESE ISSUES. I HAVE OWNED THE JEEP CHEROKEE FOR LESS THAN THREE WEEKS. *TR
THERE ARE SIGNIFICANT SHIFTING PROBLEMS WITH THIS MODEL AND TRANSMISSION. VEHICLE HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES AND ISSUES ARE STILL UNRESOLVED. THIS SEEMS TO BE A MUCH LARGER PRODUCT ISSUE WITH THIS 9 SPEED TRANSMISSION AND JEEP / CHRYSLER IS CURRENTLY DEFLECTING THE ISSUE AS A COMPUTER PROBLEM. *TR
THE TRANSMISSION ON OUR JEEP HAS BEEN IN 4 TIMES FOR THIS REPAIR AND THEY ADMIT IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE SOFTWARE. THE PROBLEM IS A HESITATION BETWEEN GEARS. IT HAPPENS WHEN YOU PULLOUT TO PASS AND IT TAKES 3 TO 4 SECONDS FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO RESPOND TO THE GAS INPUT AND THEN IT TAKES OFF BUT IT IS TO LATE AND YOU HAVE TO BRAKE AND GET BACK IN LINE. IT ALSO HAPPENS IN SNOW OR ICY CONDITIONS WHEN YOU ADD GAS IT DOESN'T RESPOND AND FEELS LIKE IT IS IN NEUTRAL AND THEN KICKS IN AND YOU LOSE TRACTION. THIS HAPPENS WHEN ENTERING A DRIVEWAY UPHILL ALSO. I'VE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS RESPONSE FROM A VEHICLE BEFORE AND FEEL IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
THIS IS A FOLLOWUP COMPLAINT TO (ODI NUMBER) 10618847 & (ODI NUMBER) 10620977. TODAY WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC THE 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE I WAS DRIVING STOPPED ACCELERATING WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND DISPLAYED A SERVICE TRANSMISSION ERROR AND MESSAGE SAYING TO PUT THE VEHICLE INTO PARK. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALSO CAME ON. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP THIS TIME AS THE ONE I PURCHASED FROM WAS OUT OF RANGE FOR JEEP ROADSIDE ASSIST. THIS IS CLEARLY A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND JEEP HAS NOT BEEN HELPFUL GETTING IT RESOLVED THUS-FAR AS THIS IS THE THIRD TIME IT HAS OCCURRED IN AS MANY MONTHS. *TR

FOUND 3 FAILED LUG BOLTS WITHIN 1/8TH OF A MILE. THREADS STRIPPED OUT AND HAD EXCESS METAL MATERIAL IN THEM AS WELL, NOT NO BREAKAGE OR SHORTENING OF LUGS. BRAKE ROTORS WAS LOOSE AND MOVABLE BY HAND BUT I DON'T KNOW IF THAT WAS PRIOR OR DUE IMPACT AND DRAGGING ON THE GROUND. *TR

I HAVE A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE TRAILHAWK, AND WHENEVER I TRY TO QUICKLY SLOW DOWN, THE CAR ACTUALLY ACCELERATES DURING THE DOWNSHIFT - BETWEEN 25-20MPH. THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM BECAUSE IT HAPPENS UNEXPECTEDLY AND WHEN YOU MOST NEED THE BRAKING - ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE ON AN INCLINE. THIS IS WHY I HAVE HAD MANY CLOSE CALLS AND HAVE ALMOST REAR-ENDED MANY CARS NOW. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER, AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. READING VARIOUS FORUMS, THIS SEEM TO BE A WIDESPREAD ISSUE WITH CHRYSLER 9 SPEED TRANSMISSIONS THAT THEY'VE RECENTLY RELEASED. PLEASE, PLEASE MAKE THEM FIX THIS ISSUE. THE FIRST INCIDENT IN OCTOBER JEEP CAME TO COMPLETE STOP ON HIGHWAY.ALSO WOULD ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. IT WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. THEY DROVE IT SENT INFO TO CHRYSLER THEY SAID IT NEEDED TRANSMISSION REPLACED. WAS IN SHOP 22 DAYS. DEC.30 2014 TOWED BACK TO DEALERSHIP, FOR SEVERAL ISSUES. WOULD NOT TAKE OFF WHEN YOU PRESSED GAS PEDAL AFTER 2 ATTEMPTS IT LUNGE AND BEGAN MOVING , DRIVING IN TRAFFIC PRESSED THE BRAKE AND IT DID NOT SLOW DOWN INSTEAD IT SPEED UP AFTER PRESSING BREAK HARDER IT SLOWED. FEW DAYS LATER IT WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT SOUNDED LIKE IT IN FIRST GEAR.THEY ONCE AGAIN REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AND UPDATED THE SOFT WARE . THE DEALER KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR A WEEK. A DIAGNOSTIC TEST REVEALED A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. ONE MONTH LATER, AS SHE WAS PULLING OUT ONTO THE MAIN ROAD, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AGAIN. SHE MANAGED TO GET THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. A DIAGNOSTICS TEST REVEALED THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF, DUE TO LOW OIL. THE CONSUMER CLAIMED THE VEHICLE WASN'T SCHEDULED FOR AN OIL CHANGED FOR ANOTHER 1,000 MILES. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONSUMER TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK WITHIN 3,000 TO SEE IF THE VEHICLE WAS BURNING OIL. *JB
AFTER 1000 MILES OF DRIVING THIS VEHICLE THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT SHIFT FROM PARK TO PARK TO REVERSE ONE TWO OCCASIONS. DURING THIS TIME AFTER EVERY TIME . I DECELERATED WITH OUT APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE GAS PEDAL THE VEHICLE WOULD ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN WHEN AUTOMATICALLY SHIFTING FROM 5 GEAR TO 4 GEAR AND INCREASE 1000 RPMS AND ABOUT 3 MPH BEFORE SHIFTING TO 4 GEAR AND FINALLY DECELERATING. *TR
THE JEEP CHEROKEE HAS A PLASTIC SKID PLATE UNDERNEATH. THE FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED WHEN I HIT A PUDDLE OF WATER, PULLING THE FRONT EDGE OF THE SKID PLATE LOOSE. AT THAT POINT, ANYTIME MY SPEED REACHED 45MPH IT WOULD VIBRATE, MAKING A VERY LOUD NOISE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND TOOK IT IN THE NEXT MORNING. THE TECH SAID HE SEES THIS ALL THE TIME, THE PLATE IS HELD ON WITH PLASTIC BOLTS. THEY REPAIRED IN 30 MIN, NO PAPERWORK. THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN IN FEB2015. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND ASKED THAT THEY RE-SECURE THE SKID PLATE. I WAS ADVISE IT WAS DONE. IT HAPPENED AGAIN IN MAR2015, AND I RETURNED TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP FOR THIS PROBLEM, ALONG WITH SEVERAL RECALLS. I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD PUT METAL SCREWS IN TO REPAIR IT. THE 4TH TIME IT HAPPEND WAS JUNE2015, MILEAGE APPX 7500. THIS TIME WAS MUCH WORSE THAN PRIOR, AS WHEN THE SKID PLATE CAME LOOSE, THE PLASTIC WAS FLIPPED UNDER SO IT WAS DRAGGING THE GROUND AT ALL TIMES (NOT JUST VIBRATING AT INCREASE SPEED).

I KEEP MY HEADLIGHTS ON THE AUTOMATIC SETTING AT ALL TIMES. APPROXIMATELY 4-5X'S SINCE OWNING THIS VEHICLE I HAVE GOTTEN IN AND THERE WOULD BE NO LIGHTS. THE 1ST TIME I THOUGHT IT WAS A BLOWN FUSE AND REALIZED THAT THE HEADLIGHT KNOB WAS TURNED TO THE OFF POSITION. I THOUGHT SOMEONE MUST HAVE SWITCHED IT, BUT AFTER THE 3RD TIME IT HAPPENED OVER A NUMBER OF MONTHS I CALLED THE DEALER WHO SAID THERE WAS NO WAY THAT COULD OCCUR WITHOUT SOMEONE SWITCHING IT BECAUSE THE KNOB HAS TO BE PHYSICALLY TURNED.I WOULD TEND TO AGREE WITH HIM BUT THE KNOB IS LOCATED IN A PLACE WHERE IT WOULD BE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO HIT IT WITH YOUR KNEE OR OTHERWISE CHANGE IT WITHOUT KNOWING. UPON TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO PULL TO THE SHOULDER, THE ENGINE WOULD SIMPLY REV RPMS BUT PROVIDED NO POWER, EVEN AFTER TRYING TO SHIFT BETWEEN NEUTRAL AND DRIVE. AFTER GETTING TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND TURNED BACK ON, AT WHICH TIME THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT WAS STILL ON, BUT THE VEHICLE WORKED AGAIN. JEEP HAS UPDATED SOFTWARE 3 TIMES. CONDITION HAS NOT CHANGED.

TRANSMISSION SHIFTS ERRATICALLY. WHEN STOPPING AND STARTING AT A STOP SIGN, TRANSMISSION MAY NOT ENGAGE, THEN ENGAGES WITH A HARD BANG INTO GEAR. OTHER TIMES WHEN SLOWING DOWN AND THEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE, TRANSMISSION MAY NOT ENGAGE QUICKLY ENOUGH. TRANSMISSION IS DANGEROUS AS ONE DOES NOT KNOW IF THE TRANSMISSION WILL ENGAGE WHEN NEEDED, ESPECIALLY WHEN NEEDED TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF OTHER VEHICLES. CAR HAS BEEN INTO JEEP DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES, OPENED A CASE WITH JEEP, TOLD THIS IS NORMAL OPERATION FOR THE TRANSMISSION. THE JEEP ACCELERATES WHILE SLOWING DOWN WHEN AMPLE PRESSURE IS APPLIED TO THE BRAKES. HAD TO SWERVE OFF THE ROAD ONTO THE SHOULDER TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE BRAKES NOT ACTING TIMELY AND THE VEHICLE STILL ACCELERATING DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION. THE BRAND NEW VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO CHRYSLER TWO TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM AND THEY CAN'T 'DUPLICATE' THE PROBLEM. WAS INFORMED 'THE TRANSMISSION IS A LEARNING TRANSMISSION AND WILL ADJUST TO THE DRIVER AND TO WAIT UNTIL FIRST OIL CHANGE AT 3000 MILES TO SEE IF THE PROBLEM PERSIST". THE PROBLEM IS STILL VERY PRESENT AND EVEN WORSENING. NOW, WITH ONLY 1800 MILES ON VEHICLE THE TURN SIGNALS ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THE RIGHT TURN SIGNAL STICKS, STAYS ON OR RANDOMLY TURNS ON. WHILE THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL IS NOT WORKING AT ALL. WHILE DRIVING MY BRAND NEW VEHICLE (NOT EVEN TWO MONTHS OLD) HAVING TO USE HAND SIGNALS TO COMMUNICATE WHEN TURNING LEFT. THE 3RD TIME HE REPRODUCED THE PROBLEM - AND REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION VALVE-BODY AND PERFORMED ADAPTIVE LEARNING. THIS TOOK NEARLY 2 WEEKS. A WEEK LATER - THE TRANSMISSION FAILED NEAR THE SUMMIT OF MT. WASHINGTON NH. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AND SHE FELT THAT THE CAR HAD NO POWER - THE GEAR WAS IN MANUAL, 1ST GEAR. I TURNED THE CAR BACK DOWN AND STARTED DESCENDING. THERE SEEMED TO BE NO ENGINE BRAKING AND THE BRAKES STARTED TO SMOKE AND LOOSE GRIP. I HAD TO STOP NUMEROUS TIMES TO LET THE BRAKES COOL. THE CAR IS BACK AT THE DEALERS. THEY HAVE BEEN ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM - CHRYSLER ADVISED THEM TO PUT GREASE ON A CONNECTOR AND DRIVE THE CAR A BIT. IF THE PROBLEM DOESN'T REPEAT - THEY WANT TO RETURN THE CAR TO ME AS IS. CHRYSLER'S INCOMPETENCE WILL GET SOMEONE KILLED - THIS COULD HAPPEN CROSSING A RAILWAY. TURNING LEFT AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, OR GOING DOWN A LONG DESCENT. *TR
WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (68 MPH) AND SLOWING DOWN, THE GEARS ON THE 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE DOWNSHIFTED, RESULTING IN AN INCREASE IN SPEED, DESPITE PRESSURE BEING APPLIED TO THE BRAKES. THIS OCCURS WITH THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WHEN BRAKING CHANGE GEARS FROM 4TH TO 5TH GEAR. THE SHIFT INTO 4TH GEAR IS FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY BY A 500+ RPM INCREASE IN THE ENGINE. IF HEAVY, CONSISTENT PRESSURE IS NOT APPLIED TO THE BRAKE, THE CAR WILL ACCELERATE 1-2 MPH. IF HEAVY, CONSISTENT PRESSURE IS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE, THE CAR SHIFTS VIOLENTLY AND THE CAR "LURCHES" FORWARD DUE TO THE INCREASE IN RPM. *TR

UPON RESTART VEHICLE WOULD TRAVEL APPROX 10-15 MILES BEFORE VEHICLE WOULD AGAIN NOT SHIFT AND HAVE TO BE TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. THIS CYCLE REPEATED NUMEROUS TIMES AND ON SUBSEQUENT DAYS. *TR
PURCHASED A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED JEEP CHEROKEE FROM LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP WITH 11,000 MILES. ON SECOND DAY OF DRIVING, NOTICED THAT AS THE CAR SHIFTS FROM SECOND TO THIRD GEAR (USUALLY AROUND 17MPH THE ENTIRE CAR JOLTS / SURGES FORWARD. AT TIMES WHEN THIS HAPPENS, I HAVE ACTUALLY THOUGHT I HAVE BEEN BUMPED INTO BY THE CAR BEHIND ME, ONLY TO QUICKLY DETERMINE IT IS THE TRANSMISSION. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE INTO SERVICE 3 TIMES. FIRST TIME, RE-FLASHED TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. SECOND TIME, TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE FAILED TO ACCEPT PROGRAMMING AND SO WAS REPLACED. THIRD TIME, THEY RE-FLASHED THE CONTROL MODULE AGAIN AND SAID THERE WAS NOTHING MORE THEY COULD DO TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE UNTIL CHRYSLER PROVIDES FURTHER DIRECTION. THIS IS NOT ONLY A NUISANCE, BUT A SAFETY CONCERN. IT DISTRACTS THE DRIVER FROM FOCUSING ON THE ROAD AND EVERY TIME I ACCELERATE FROM A STOP I AM REMINDED THERE IS SOMETHING NOT RIGHT WITH THIS VEHICLE - BUT WITH APPARENTLY NOTHING THE DEALERSHIP CAN DO TO FIX IT. TRAVELING TO WORK TOUCHED THE COMMAND BUTTON ON THE STEERING WHEEL AT THAT VERY MOMENT THE RADIO, SCREEN, BLUETOOTH, UCONNECT SYSTEM LOST POWER. THE RADIO SHUT OFF AND THE CENTER SCREEN THAT CONTROLS MANY SAFETY FEATURES OF THE CAR WENT BLANK AND WOULD NOT COME BACK ON. I HAD TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOOK IT IN IMMEDIATELY TO RESOLVE THE ISSUES. I TOOK DELIVERY OF MY NEW 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE ON SEPTEMBER 16, 2014. RIGHT FROM THE START I STARTED HAVING TRANSMISSION ISSUES. CHRYSLER JEEP SAID THAT THEY WERE GOING TO OPEN A "CASE FILE" ON THE CAR AND TO RETURN THE CAR TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP, AND EXPLAINED WHAT THE REPRESENTATIVE HAD TOLD ME. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THAT THERE WAS NO "CASE FILE" OPENED ON MY VEHICLE AND THAT NOBODY FROM CHRYSLER JEEP HAD CONTACTED THEM. A COUPLE WEEKS LATER I RECEIVED A CALL FROM CHRYSLER JEEP SAYING THAT THE CASE FILE WAS "CLOSED" BECAUSE "I FAILED TO TAKE THE CAR IN TO THE DEALERSHIP". LAST TUESDAY (FEBRUARY 3RD) AFTER A REALLY BAD SNOWSTORM I WAS DRIVING HOME WHEN THE PERSON IN THE LANE NEXT TO ME BEGAN SLIDING INTO MY LANE. I BEGAN APPLYING BRAKE BUT IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT I NEEDED TO APPLY POWER TO GET AHEAD OF HER. WHEN I CAME OFF THE BRAKE AND APPLIED HEAVY POWER THERE WAS NOTHING THERE. THE ENGINE REVVED UP BUT THE CAR DIDN'T GO ANYWHERE. THEN THE VEHICLE DROPPED INTO GEAR AND LURCHED REALLY BAD, AND THE BACK END OF THE CAR STARTED TO SPIN AROUND ON ME. ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE FRONT TIRES STARTED DIGGING IN AND WHIPPED ME STRAIGHT. I WAS TOTALLY OUT OF CONTROL AND IT SEEMED LIKE THE TRANSMISSION HAD A MIND OF ITS OWN. LUCKILY I DIDN'T HIT ANYTHING BUT DID END UP IN A PARKING LOT. AFTER SITTING FOR A SECOND (AND THE PERSON WHO ALMOST STRUCK ME STOPPED TO SEE IF I WAS OK), I PUT THE CAR BACK IN GEAR AND DROVE BACK OUT ONTO THE STREET AND IMMEDIATELY A "4-WHEEL DRIVE NOT AVAILABLE" ERROR MESSAGE CAME ON. THIS CAR IS DANGEROUS. CHRYSLER JEEP HAS SHOWN ONLY SUPERFICIAL INTEREST IN FIXING THE PROBLEM. IT SHOULDN'T BE DRIVEN ON SNOWY ROADS. I HOPE THAT SOMEONE WITH THE AUTHORITY TO DO SOMETHING CAN ADDRESS THIS MAJOR ISSUE BEFORE PEOPLE START GETTING KILLED. THIS IS BEYOND A "LEMON" ISSUE. *TR UPDATED 4/12/16 *JS

WHEN I DROVE THE JEEP TO THE DEALER THE PROBLEM GOT DO BAD I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BREAK DOWN. I DROPPED IT OFF AND LATER FOUND OUT IT WAS THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT.
