TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SHIFT LEVER FAILED TO SHIFT GEARS PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO REMEDY THE FAILURE AFTER AN UNKNOWN MANUFACTURERS RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THEY PROVIDED NO REMEDY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 400. MA 10/15/2015 *CN
THE CAR GAVE A MESSAGE THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED SERVICE. IT THEN DROVE A FEW MORE MILES AND THEN STOPPED ALLOWING ME TO ACCELERATE. IT WAS LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL BUT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT REV. IT DID LET ME DRIVE AGAIN AFTER SHUTTING DOWN THE CAR BUT THE PATTERN CONTINUED UNTIL WE DROPPED IT OFF AT THE DEALER. WE NEEDED TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON SEVERAL TIMES. THERE WAS ALSO AN UNKNOWN SMELL THAT CAME AND WENT. *JS
THE POWER TRAIN BUCKS HARD, DELAYS FORWARD MOTION FROM STOP POSITION, ESPECIALLY WITH A COLD START, AND IS MUCH WORSE ON COLD DAYS. HAD THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES, CALLED JEEP, AND THEY ALL TELL ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I HAVE ALSO BEEN TOLD THAT NOT ALL OF THIS MODEL JEEP HAS THIS PROBLEM, I AM ONE OF THE LUCKY ONES. PLEASE HELP ME! I AM A REALTOR AND HAVE CLIENTS IN MY CAR THAT LOOK AT ME LIKE, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOUR CAR, AND WHY ISN'T JEEP DOING SOMETHING ABOUT THIS? I DO HAVE SEVERAL INVOICES FROM THE DEALER, STATING MY COMPLAINTS, BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN CORRECTED, THEY HAVE DONE "TWO UPDATES" VIA THEIR COMPUTER SYSTEM, AGAIN, WITH NO RESULTS.
WHILE FULLY LOCKED IN PARK, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ROLLED BACKWARD, INTO A LAKE, RUNNING OVER MY FOOT, AND DRAGGING ME INTO THE LAKE, IN 8-10 FEET OF WATER. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OUT OF THE WATER, IT WAS STILL LOCKED IN PARK, BUT THE WHEELS ROLLED FREELY. *TR
WHILE SITTING ON AN INCLINE AT A STOP LIGHT, OUR BRAND NEW 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE THAT HAD ONLY BOUGHT 2 DAYS BEFORE SHIFTED IN TO NEUTRAL ON ITS OWN AND ROLLED BACKWARDS WHEN THE GAS WAS PRESSED. WE HAD TO SHIFT THE TRANSMISSION INTO MANUAL AND BACK TO AUTO SEVERAL TIMES TO GET THE GEARS TO CATCH. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS INJURED AND WE DID NOT ROLL BACKWARDS INTO TRAFFIC. AFTER THAT INCIDENT THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLUGGISH AND WOULD NOT SHIFT GEARS PROPERLY. *TR
AS DESCRIBED IN PREVIOUS PUBLISHED COMPLAINTS, THE TRANSMISSION ON MY 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE TRAIL HAWK IS MALFUNCTIONING (SOFTWARE AND/OR HARDWARE) ALMOST FROM THE START. THE LAST INCIDENT--AFTER A PREVIOUS SERVICE AT A JEEP DEALERSHIP--WAS THE WORST. WHILE SITTING AT A STOP SIGN (ON MY WAY TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE VEHICLE SERVICED AGAIN FOR "SERVICE TRANSMISSION" MESSAGE), THE "D" STARTED FLASHING AND THE MESSAGE"SHIFT TO P THEN DESIRED GEAR" APPEARED. I FOLLOWED THE MESSAGE'S INSTRUCTIONS BUT AS I SHIFTED INTO "D" THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD (SLIGHTLY INTO THE NEAR LANE OF THE CROSS STREET). IF A PEDESTRIAN HAD BEEN WALKING IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE (CROSSING THE STREET) AT THAT MOMENT HE OR SHE MAY HAVE BEEN HIT. IF A CAR HAD BEEN PASSING ON THE CROSS STREET IN THE NEAR LANE THERE COULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT. FIAT CHRYSLER DELAYED THE SALE OF THE JEEP CHEROKEE BECAUSE OF SOFTWARE PROBLEMS. IT APPEARS TO ME FROM THIS SITE --(AND OTHER JEEP CHEROKEE FORUMS) AND FROM FIAT CHRYSLER'S CEO'S OWN WORDS--THAT THE SOFTWARE PROBLEMS HAVE NOT BEEN PROPERLY ADDRESSED. NHTSA NEEDS TO ACT. *TR
STARTED CAR IN THE GARAGE, PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND THE DASH LIGHTS WERE BLINKING AND THE RADIO DISPLAY FLASHED AND SAID SERVICE TRANS AND THE SERVICE TRANS STAYS LIT. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE FULLER DEALER ON RT 22. SOMERVILLE NJ. GOT THE CAR BACK 8/8/14. THE TRANSMISSION CONTINUES TO GIVE ME PROBLEMS WHILE SHIFTING. AT TIME I CAN STEP ON THE GAS TO ACCELERATE AND THE CAR DOESN'T MOVE THAN ALL OF A SUDDEN WILL RUSH FORWARD. SLOWING DOWN AND GOING AROUND A TURN IS THE WORST BECAUSE STEPPING BACK ON THE GAS THE CAR FEELS AS IF IT'S GOING TO STOP THEN AT ONCE IT WILL RUSH FORWARD AS IF I WAS STEPPING ON THE GAS ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. HAD THE CAR BACK AND ON 8/21 WAS PULLING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AT WORK AND HEARD A TERRIBLE GRINDING NOISE AND LOST ABILITY TO STEER THE CAR. HAD IT TOWED AND THE DEALER CALLED THE NEXT DAY TO TELL ME THAT THE LEFT FRONT AXLE HAD SNAPPED AND WAS PROBABLY A DEFECTIVE ONE FROM THE MANUFACTURER. I WANT TO GET RID OF THE CAR BECAUSE I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT. I'M AFRAID IF I EVER NEED TO STEP ON THE GAS TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF SOMETHING, I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO AND WILL BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. TERRIBLE TRANSMISSION AND WILL BE DISCUSSING MY CONCERNS WITH MY LAWYER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE GEARS FAILED TO ENGAGE AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO LUNGE FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS WORKING UP TO SPECIFICATIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND SENT OUT AN ENGINEER TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE DID NOT ACCELERATE AND MADE AN ABNORMAL NOISE. THE FAILURE HAPPENED WITHOUT WARNING. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V293000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL), BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000.
SORRY I'M NOT SURE WHY IT DOES THIS... WHEN I'M DRIVING SOMETIMES AND I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS TO SLOW DOWN.. FOR SOME REASON MY CAR ON IT OWN.. SPEEDS UP.. I WATCH THE RPM AND THERE IS A BIG JUMP IN REV.. I'M NOT SURE WHAT THAT IS.. I ACTUALLY LURCH FORWARD. I'M SCARED THAT ONE DAY IT'S GOING TO HIT A PERSON OR GO THROUGH THE WALL OF MY GARAGE! THE SECOND THING IS MY LIGHT SWITCH I AM NOT SURE WHY BUT TWICE IT'S PUSHED INTO MY DASH BOARD .. .THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I WAS STUCK AT DUSK .. COULDN'T DRIVE.. MY NORMAL DEALERSHIP IN NORTH SEATTLE CALLED THE DWAYNE LANE IN EVERETT AND THEY TOLD MY DEALERSHIP THAT THEY WON'T DO WARRANTY WORK.. SO MY DEALERSHIP HAD TO SEND OUT A GUY FROM SERVICE AND DRIVE ALL THE WAY TO EVERETT TO DO A TEMPORARY FIX... THE THIRD COMPLAINT .. NOW AT 9500 MILES THERE'S A LEAK IN MY ENGINE COOLANT.. AND IT LEFT ME STRANDED IN EVERETT AND HAD TO BE TOWED.. BY THE WAY TRIED TO GO TO THE EVERETT DEALERSHIP DWAYNE LANE AND AGAIN THEY WOULDN'T HELP ME THIS TIME.. I HAD NO RIDE HOME AND THEY WOULDN'T PROVIDE A RENTAL CAR.. EVEN THOUGH I PAID FOR A VERY EXPENSIVE EXTENDED WARRANTY. I HAD THE CAR TOWED THE NEXT DAY TO MARYSVILLE JEEP DEALERSHIP AND THEY ARE WONDERFUL! DON'T BUY FROM DWAYNE LANE IN EVERETT!!!! THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS THE WORST IN THE COUNTRY. I'VE HEARD MANY HORROR STORIES FROM CLIENTS.. TO TOW TRUCK DRIVERS .. TO OTHER DEALERS. *TR
FRONT END WOBBLES WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP, WHEN GOING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR. ALSO FEELS LIKE VEHICLE IS LOSING TRACTION AND HESITATES ON ACCELERATION FROM A STOP. JEEP REPLACED THE HALF-SHAFTS AND DID SOFTWARE UPDATES BUT PROBLEM CONTINUES. *TR
THE TRANSMISSION IS LATE TO PUT INTO GEAR. IT IS A VERY HARD AND LATE SHIFT. WHEN COMING TO A STOP THE VEHICLE WILL NOT GO AFTER STOP, ALMOST LIKE PUTS ITSELF INTO NEUTRAL AND WITH ENOUGH GAS WILL POP BACK INTO DRIVE. HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES WHEN COMING OUT INTO TRAFFIC MAKING IT VERY UNSAFE AND NEARLY CAUSING ACCIDENTS. *TR
WHILE SHIFTING AT LOW SPEEDS THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO NOT SELECT THE CORRECT GEAR IN THE POWER TRAIN / TRANSMISSION. MORE OFTEN THAN NOT, WHEN SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE IT SELECTS 2ND OR 3RD GEAR AND WHEN IT DOESN'T MOVE FAST ENOUGH IT SLAMS INTO 1ST. WHILE IN DRIVE TAKING OFF FROM STOP LIGHT FOR INSTANCE, THE GEARS OFTEN START WITH 2ND OR 3RD GEAR AGAIN AND WILL NOT TOO OFTEN REVERT TO 1ST GEAR, IT JUST ALLOWS FOR A VERY SLOW START. WHILE VISITING THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE, THE DEALER / SERVICE PERSON ADVISES ME IT'S A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION / GEARS EXPLODE FROM THIS VERY ISSUE AND CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT THE ISSUES BUT CONTINUE TO SEND OUT RECALL NOTICES FOR FIXES.
MY 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. IT LUNGES FORWARD, STALLS WHEN MERGING INTO TRAFFIC AND JERKS SO HARD THAT IT FEELS LIKE SOMEONE HAS HIT ME FROM BEHIND. THE DEALERSHIP HAS DONE NOTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND SAY THEY CAN'T FIX IT. THE TRANSMISSION IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I'VE NEARLY HIT VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME WHEN IT LUNGES FORWARD. THIS IS A DANGEROUS VEHICLE AND IT SHOULD BE TAKEN OFF THE MARKET.
SINCE WHEN I FIRST FLAT TOWED (JULY 2014) MY 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE BEHIND MY DIESEL PUSHER MOTORHOME THE FRONT WHEELS AND AXLES WILL WOBBLE SIGNIFICANTLY CAUSING SAFETY CONCERNS THAT THE VEHICLE WILL BREAK LOOSE OR RENDER THE VEHICLE NOT DRIVABLE. THIS OCCURS AT ANY SPEED ON UNEVEN ROADS SURFACES. IN ORDER TO STOP THE CAR FROM WOBBLING YOU MUST BRING THE MOTORHOME TO A COMPLETE STOP REGARDLESS IF YOU ARE ON AN INTERSTATE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, ON A LONG BRIDGE WITH NO SHOULDER, CITY STREETS IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, ON A STEEP MOUNTAIN PASS, ETC. I HAVE TALKED TO JEEP SEVERAL TIMES BUT CANNOT GET ANY ACTION. THEY ACT LIKE I DO NOT KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT. THEY NEVER HEARD OF IT. A RECENT ARTICLE IN FEBRUARY 2016 FAMILY MOTOR COACHING SAYS FCA KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND HAS A FIX YET WHEN I CALL I GET THE RUN AROUND. ONE PERSON SAID THAT FCA WAS DEVELOPING A KIT THAT OWNERS MAY PURCHASE SOMETIME THIS YEAR. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE A RECALL AND PARTS AND INSTALLATION PROVIDED FREE. MY CASE NUMBER AT JEEP IS 28673568. ANOTHER RV SEASON IS STARTING WITH JEEP OWNERS TOWING THERE JEEPS BEHIND THERE MOTORHOME, HOW LONG MUST WE WAIT FOR FIAT CHRYSLER AUTOMOBILES TO RECOGNIZE THIS PROBLEM AND NOTIFY JEEP CHEROKEE OWNERS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND HOW FCA IS GOING TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. NOTE: REWRITING THE TOWING INSTRUCTIONS WILL NOT STOP THIS PROBLEM.
I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE THE JEEP 2014 CHEROKEE BECAUSE OF THE EASE OF TOWING THAT THE OWNERS MANUAL IN 2014 AND OTHER SOURCES OTHER SOURCES WE HAD CHECKED INDICATED. THERE WAS NO MENTION IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL OF ANY PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING OF A VEHICLE WHILE BEING FLAT TOWED BEHIND AN RV. THIS WAS THE BEST CHOICE FOR US AS IT WAS THE SIMPLEST VEHICLE IN MOTORHOME DIGESTIVE TOWING VEHICLES. SINCE WE HAVE EXPERIENCED A SEVERE FRONT-END WOBBLE WHILE TOWING. IN 2016 I RECEIVED A CARD IN THE MAIL INDICATING A PART WAS NEEDED ACTUALLY IT SAID TO PUT IN THE OWNERS MANUAL BUT IN READING IT INDICATED A WIRING KIT WAS REQUIRED. EXPLORE THIS ITEM WITH MY DEALER THE FIRST TIME HE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT THE SECOND TIME I BROUGHT IN A PART NUMBER THAT I HAD FOUND IN THE MOTORHOME MAGAZINE. I GAVE HIM THE PART NUMBER THEY RESEARCHED IT AND FOUND THAT THIS WAS A WIRING KIT REQUIRED FOR FLAT TOWING. MY ASSUMPTION WAS SINCE IT WAS REQUIRED IT WAS SOME SORT OF RECALL. TO MY SURPRISE IT COST ME OVER $500 AND IN CONTACTING CHRYSLER THEY REFUSE TO REIMBURSE ME OR EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE. EVEN THE 2016 LITERATURE REGARDING FLAT TOWING A JEEP CHEROKEE DID NOT INDICATE THE REQUIREMENT OF A WIRING KIT SO MY ASSUMPTION IS THEY ARE NOT ACKNOWLEDGING THIS PROBLEM. IT IS A SEVERE SAFETY PROBLEM FOR PEOPLE WHO BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FOR FLAT TOWING BEHIND AN RV. I WOULD APPRECIATE YOU LOOKING INTO THIS MATTER AND GETTING BACK TO ME WITH ANY INFORMATION OR RESULTS THAT YOU MAY FIND. THE CAR EXPERIENCES JERKY SHIFTS, IS VERY INCONSISTENT WHEN IT DOES SHIFT, AND HAS A LAG IN ACCELERATION. IT DOES NOT FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE I CAN'T PREPARE FOR WHEN IT WILL SHIFT. IF I AM STOPPING AT A LIGHT, IT OFTEN TIMES WILL LUNGE FORWARD - WHICH IS DANGEROUS IF THERE IS A PEDESTRIAN CROSSING OR SOMEONE IN FRONT OF ME. IF I AM AT A STOP LIGHT, AND ACCELERATING, THE SHIFT BETWEEN 1ST TO 2ND AND 2ND TO 3RD IS EXTREMELY SLOW, AND THEN HAS A HARD LUNGE FORWARD. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY DO NOT HAVE A SOLVE FOR IT, AND JEEP WON'T ACKNOWLEDGE THERE'S A PROBLEM. THE VALUE OF THE CAR HAS ALSO DROPPED SIGNIFICANTLY SO I CAN'T GET RID OF IT, WITHOUT BEING UPSIDE DOWN ON WHAT I OWE.
THE TRANSMISSION IN SHIFTING FROM FIRST TO SECOND HAS A VIBRATION. TOOK IT IN TWICE AND THEY MADE SOME SORT OF ADJUSTMENT. NOW IT STILL HAS VIBRATION AND THE SHIFTING IS WORSE FROM SECOND TO FIRST DOWNSHIFTING. YOU HAVE TO COME TO ALMOST A COMPLETE STOP BEFORE IT WILL DOWNSHIFT TO FIRST TO GET UP A HILL. NOW WHEN YOU STEP ON THE GAS TO PASS SOMEONE THERE IS A LONG HESITATION BEFORE IT SHIFTS TO GO FASTER. TERRIBLE TRANSMISSION ON A BRAND NEW VEHICLE I JUST WASTED FORTY THOUSAND DOLLARS WHICH I HAVE TO PAY OFF FOR THE NEXT FOUR YEARS.
MIRROR (SIDE VIEWS) ARE TOO SMALL FOR ADEQUATE VISIBILITY, DEALERSHIP OFFERS NO AFTERMARKET MIRRORS THAT ARE LARGER. HEAD RESTRAINT CAUSES A POSTURE THAT IS POOR FOR DRIVING AND RESULTS IN PAIN IN NECK, BACK, AND HEAD. HEAD RESTRAINT INTERFERES WITH REAR VIEW.
VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW. JEEP CHEROKEE 2014. SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT COMES ON. VEHICLE WILL SUDDENLY NOT ACCELERATE. THIS OCCURS RANDOMLY AND CREATES A VERY UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITION. MOST ESPECIALLY WHEN MERGING INTO TRAFFIC.CHRYSLER IS AWARE BUT WILL NOT RECALL. 2 UPDATES SO FAR. VEHICLE CONTINUES TO EXPERIENCE THE PROBLEM. *TR
THE FIRST ISSUE AROSE AS THE VEHICLE WAS BEING BACKED OUT OF A DRIVEWAY. WHILE STILL IN MOTION, THE VEHICLE PRODUCED AN AUDIBLE AND VISUAL COLLISION ALERT WITH NO OBSTRUCTIONS PRESENT. THE VEHICLE STOPPED SUDDENLY, PARTIALLY IN THE ROADWAY, SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL AND SHUT THE MOTOR OFF. IT WAS NECESSARY TO CYCLE THE VEHICLE THROUGH STOP-ACCESSORY-RUN AND BACK TO ACCESSORY BEFORE THE VEHICLE COULD BE PLACED IN PARK. ONCE IN PARK, THE INFORMATION CENTER (EVIC) READ "BATTERY VOLTAGE LOW". AFTER RETURNING TO THE STOP POSITION THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR (MIL) REMAINED ILLUMINATED. SCROLLING TO THE BATTERY STATUS ON THE EVIC SHOWED A READING OF 13.9V, WITHIN A NORMAL RANGE. THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN DRIVE AND OPERATED PROPERLY, EXCEPT FOR THE MIL FOR 24-HOURS WITH MULTIPLE STARTS AND STOPS. THE FOLLOWING DAY, UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, AGAIN AN AUDIBLE AND VISUAL ALARM SOUNDED AND THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY, WITH THE EVIC READING 4-WHEEL DRIVE UNAVAILABLE. IT THEN CHANGED TO ADAPTIVE CRUISE UNAVAILABLE, THEN FORWARD COLLISION WARNING UNAVAILABLE. AN INDICATOR LIGHT WITH AN EXCLAMATION MARK STATED THAT SERVICE WAS REQUIRED. AGAIN, THE VEHICLE WAS CYCLED THROUGH THE STOP-ACCESSORY-RUN SEQUENCE WITHOUT THE BREAK DEPRESSED TO RE-SET THE ELECTRICAL SEQUENCING. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND ONLY THE MIL REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN ABLE TO BE PUT IN GEAR AND RETURNED TO SERVICE. BOTH OCCURRENCES TOOK IN EXCESS OF ONE MINUTE TO RETURN THE VEHICLE TO OPERATIONAL, AND HAD THEY HAPPENED IN AN ACTIVE TRAFFIC AREA, WOULD HAVE LEFT THE VEHICLE A SITTING DUCK FOR ONCOMING VEHICLES. THE VEHICLE FROM THE TIME WE PURCHASED IT FROM THE DEALER HAS HAD A TRANSMISSION SHIFTING PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM SHIFTING HAPPENS BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR AND ALSO WHEN YOU GO TO STOP. RECENTLY WHILE DRIVING THE TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO SLIP AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ENGAGED CAUSING US TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE ENGINE WAS REVVING BUT THE TRANSMISSION WAS NO LONGER ENGAGED. VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED WHICH WE THEN PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND MOVED ONTO THE ROADWAY AGAIN. I HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR THIS TWICE BEFORE. ON THE FIRST VISIT THE DEALERSHIP SAID TO JUST DRIVE IT AND IT WILL SMOOTH OUT. ON THE SECOND VISIT THE DEALERSHIP GAVE US THE FIRST SOFTWARE UPDATE WHICH WAS DONE IN APRIL OF THIS YEAR, BUT IT ONLY LASTED AROUND A MONTH OR TWO. UPDATE ON MY VEHICLE.....I JUST HAD TO TAKE MY VEHICLE BACK IN ON 6/22/14 AND HEARD BACK FROM THE SERVICE CENTER ON 6/23/14. APPARENTLY SOMEHOW MY PASSENGER SIDE AXLE BROKE WHICH CAUSED THE LOUD BANG AND MY VEHICLE TO STOP RUNNING AND/OR FROM GOING INTO GEAR. THEY ARE NOT SURE WHAT CAUSED THIS OR WHY. NOW THEY HAVE TO REPLACE IT. I GOT MY VEHICLE BACK ON 6/25/14 AND IT DOES NOT DRIVE THE SAME, DOES NOT HAVE THAT SMOOTH SHIFTING LIKE IT DID BEFORE, AND CAN STILL HEAR A VERY FAINT CLINGING SOUND WHEN DRIVING. WE'VE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS IS NORMAL OPERATION BY CHRYSLER. NO, IT'S NOT! WE ALSO HAD THE TRANSMISSION CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO GO INTO LIMP HOME MODE, ALMOST TOTALLY SHUT DOWN ON US WHILE DRIVING. WHILE PREPARING THIS COMPLIANT, WE DID RECEIVE CONFIRMATION FROM THE DEALERSHIP THAT CHRSYLER WOULD BE SENDING A REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION FOR THE VEHICLE. THIS SUBJECT AUTOMOBILE IS EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS THAT APPEAR TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND THROTTLE CONTROL. THE PROBLEMS ARE DESCRIBED AS: 1.A SUBTLE CHATTER IN THE TRANSMISSION WHEN ACCELERATING SIMILAR TO CLUTCH CHATTER. THIS OCCURS IN LOWER GEARS. THIS BEHAVIOR IS WORSE WHEN TURNING HARD LEFT/RIGHT WHEN TRANSMISSION IS UNDER AN ACCELERATION LOAD. 2.THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING (UP AND DOWN SHIFT) CAN BE DELAYED AND VERY ABRUPT. IN GOING UP A HILL, THE THROTTLE RESPONSE IS DELAYED WITH A FOLLOWING ABRUPT, HEAD JERKING DOWNSHIFT. SIMILAR ABRUPT SHIFTS WHEN UPSHIFTING 3.THROTTLE RESPONSE CAN BE ABRUPT (SURGES FORWARD) AT LIGHT THROTTLE APPLICATION. THIS IN ITSELF IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN BEHIND A CAR AT A STOP. AS THE CARS IN FRONT MOVE FORWARD, A SLIGHT THROTTLE RESPONSE CAUSES THE CAR TO LURCH FORWARD AND ACCELERATE FASTER THAN THE CAR IN FRONT. THIS HAPPENED TO ME SEVERAL TIMES. SLAMS INTO GEAR CAUSING CAR TO VIOLENTLY JERK FORWARD OR BACKWARD. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE CAR MUST BE STOPPED AND TURNED OFF THEN RESTARTED IN ORDER TO DRIVE AGAIN. THIS FIRST OCCURRED WHEN DRIVING OFF THE DEALERS LOT WHEN THE CAR HAD 12 MILES. THE CAR WAS KEPT AT THE DEALERSHIP AND A NEW TRANSMISSION WAS INSTALLED A MONTH LATER. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RESURFACED AGAIN AND AGAIN. EACH TIME WE WERE TOLD IT WAS A SOFTWARE GLITCH AND EACH TIME IT HAS RESURFACED. TOWING THE JEEP 4 WHEELS DOWN BEHIND MY 38' DIESEL PUSHER MOTORHOME, THE JEEP STARTED JERKING BACK AND FORTH QUITE VIOLENTLY, ENOUGH TO CAUSE A SERIOUS SHAKING IN THE REAR OF THE 30,000 LB. MOTORHOME. BROUGHT THE VEHICLE(S) TO AN IMMEDIATE STOP, CHECKED BOTH VEHICLES CAREFULLY, AND COULD FIND NO CAUSE. CONTINUED ON WITH NO SHAKING OR PROBLEM. ABOUT FOUR HUNDRED MILES FURTHER, AFTER A 90 DEGREE TURN AT LESS THAN TEN MPH, IT DID IT AGAIN. ONCE MORE I BROUGHT THE RIG TO A COMPLETE STOP, AND THEN CONTINUED WITH NO SHAKING. ON MY 5000 MILE TRIP THIS OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY SEVEN TIMES. THE ONLY APPARENT COMMONALITY WAS THAT IN MOST CASES THE JEEP HAD GONE OVER A ROUGH PATCH (RAILROAD TRACK. RAISED BUMP IN ROAD, TOWED OVER A CURB) AND MOST EVENTS OCCURRED AT SPEEDS UNDER 30 MPH. I HAVE FOUND THERE ARE OTHERS OTHERS TOWING THE NEW STYLE JEEP CHEROKEE WHO ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. I AM NOT NEW TO TOWING; I HAVE TOWED OTHER JEEPS OVER 200,000 MILES WITH NO PROBLEM. I TRULY BELIEVE THERE IS A FAULT WITH THIS VEHICLE.

I TRIED IT AGAIN AND WHEN I PUT IT IN DRIVE THERE WAS NO CLUNKING SOUND BUT WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BREAK I STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS AS IF I WAS IN NEUTRAL. I LIVE IN A RURAL AREA SO ALL OF THIS WAS OCCURRING ON A 2 LANE ROAD WITH LITTLE TO NO SHOULDER AT 7:15AM, SO THE TRAFFIC WAS AT ITS HEAVIEST. IT WAS VERY SCARY BECAUSE I HAD NO WARNING AND NEITHER DID THE CARS BEHIND ME. MY CAR LITERALLY JUST STARTED TO SLOW OUT OF NO WHERE. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED TWICE BECAUSE OF THIS. I THEN DECIDED TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE THAT HAPPENED WITH THE OTHER 3 TIMES, IS THAT I WAITED LONG ENOUGH FOR THE CAR TO ENGAGE ONCE I PUT IT IN DRIVE. SO I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE MYSELF TO THE DEALER THOSE TIMES. I PLAN ON TAKING THIS TO JEEP/CHRYSLER AS WELL. *TR
THIS IS THE SECOND RECALL THAT WE HAVE HAD ON THIS VEHICLE IN LESS THAN A YEAR. HERE IS THE NEW REAL INFORMATION. SUMMARY: CHRYSLER GROUP LLC (CHRYSLER) IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011-2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND DODGE DURANGO VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM JANUARY 5, 2010, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 8, 2013. THE SUBJECT VEHICLES HAVE A BRAKE BOOSTER WITH A CENTER SHELL THAT MAY CORRODE AND ALLOW WATER TO GET INSIDE. WE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY STATED THEY WILL CHECK THE BREAK BOOSTER, BUT IF THERE IS NO CORROSION, THEY WILL NOT REPLACE IT. HERE IS MY QUESTION. WHAT HAPPENS IF THERE ISN'T ANY CORROSION NOW WHEN IT'S CHECKED, BUT IT BECOMES CORRODED 6-12 MONTHS LATER? I DON'T FORESEE THE DEALERSHIP TELLING US TO COME IN EVERY MONTH TO CHECK IT OUT. SO WE JUST HAVE TO PLUG ALONG DRIVING EVERY DAY UNSURE IF OUR BRAKES WILL WORK OR NOT. THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND MAJORLY UNSAFE. AT 1300 MILES, OUR BRAND NEW JEEP CHEROKEE BEGAN TO WOBBLE BETWEEN 15-20 MPH WHILE ON A TRIP. WE STOPPED AT THE CLOSEST JEEP DEALER, WHO KNEW RIGHT AWAY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS- WARPED AXLES FROM THE FACTORY. WE WERE TOLD IT WAS SAFE, AND RETURNED HOME. OUR DEALER REPLACED THE AXLES. NO FIX. THE WOBBLING BEGAN TO GET WORSE. TOOK TO DEALER. REAR ENGINE MOUNT REPLACED (TORQUE STRUT). NO FIX. RETURNED TO DEALER. DEALER HAD NO CLUE. THE REGIONAL CHRYSLER REP DROVE IT, WHO SUBSEQUENTLY HUNG UP THE PHONE ON ME AFTER TELLING ME THAT I NEEDED TO CHANGE HOW I DRIVE, AND THIS IS NORMAL FOR THIS VEHICLE. I ASSURE YOU- THIS IS NOT NORMAL! NOW WE ARE STUCK. DEALER WON'T FIX, OR REPLACE. STAR CASE IS ALL BUT CLOSED ON US. I AM AFRAID TO OPERATE THIS VEHICLE. AN "UNKNOWN" WOBBLE IS A SERIOUS SAFETY RISK TO MYSELF, MY FAMILY, AND OTHER DRIVERS. AFTER SCOURING THE INTERNET, AND SEEING THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM, I BELIEVE THESE VEHICLES NEED TO BE TAKEN OFF THE ROAD UNTIL THE "UNKNOWN" WOBBLE PROBLEM IS CORRECTED. *TR
JEEP TRANSMISSION DOES NOT SHIFT SMOOTHLY IT POUNDS INTO GEAR AND DOESNT SHIFT AT TIMES.THIS HAS HAPPENED ALOT.INCIDENT HAPPENED IN JULY 2014 WHEN WE WERE DRIVING IT STALLED CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND TRANSMISSION LIGHTS ( MAYBE SAME ) CAME ON AND WE WERE NEARLY HIT ON ROAD BY ANOTHER CAR.HAPPENED AGAIN TOO A FEW TIMES CALLED JEEP THEY SAID TO DRIVE IT DOWN TO DEALER AND THAT THEY WERE HAVING NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH JEEP CHEROKEES,.WE OPTED TO HAVE IT FLAT BED WITH A TOW TRUCK TO DEALER AS IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. CAR IS IN SHOP ALMOST A WEEK AND DEALER CALLED SAYS THEY REPROGRAMED TRANSMISSION AND IT IS BEING TEST DRIVEN AT DEALER BUT STILL BANGS INTO GEAR AND IS ROUGH THEY ACTUALLY SAY IT WILL NEED TO GET USED TO DRIVER AND STOP THUDS INTO GEAR.UNREAL ! THEY ACTUALLY SAID THIS WITH A NEW 37,000 SUV. ITS CLEAR THIS JEEP MODEL WAS NOT TESTED RUSHED TO MARKET AND IS A SEVER SAFETY ISSUE.WE ARE ACTUALLY AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS JEEP ! *TR
WHILE PULLING ONTO A STATE HIGHWAY, MY REAR LIFTGATE OPENED ON ITS OWN, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS SHUT AND LATCHED WHEN I INITIALLY TOOK OFF. THERE WERE NO WARNING BEEPS OR LIGHTS BEFORE OR DURING THIS EVENT. MY 35 POUND DOG WAS THROWN OUT ONTO THE HIGHWAY. *TR
WHILE WAITING AT A STOP LIGHT AFTER IT TURNED GREEN I PUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL AND I HEARD A POPPING SOUND. THERE WAS NO RESPONSE ON THE PEDAL SO WE PUSHED IT OFF THE ROAD. CALLED A TOW TRUCK AND IT WAS TAKEN TO THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS A FAILED TRANSMISSION. A NEW TRANSMISSION WAS SHIPPED FROM DETROIT AND INSTALLED AFTER 3 WEEKS. WHILE RESEARCHING THIS NEW 9 SPEED TRANSMISSION I DISCOVERED THE FLEET ONE TRANSMISSIONS OFTEN FAIL. *TR
