I WAS DRIVING 50 MPG ON HIGHWAY 1 TO ALASKA THROUGH CANADA, AND MY SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED WITHOUT ANY REASON, AND MY BELTS BLOCKED. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND AFTER 10 DAYS THEY TOLD ME THAT MY CAR WAS IN 52 DEGREES ANGLE AT THE MOMENT OF DEPLOYMENT AND THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR IT. THERE IS EVEN A LITTLE SCRATCH ON MY CAR AND I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT WHEN IT HAPPEN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE WAITING AT A TRAFFIC SIGNAL, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED AS THE VEHICLE STARTED TO JERK VIOLENTLY. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, WHO THEN REPLACED THE CAM PHASER, VALVE BODY CASTING, SENSOR CASTING AND THE COIL RETURN. THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 14,954.
IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASE, I NOTICED A DEGREE OF SLUGGISHNESS DURING TRANSMISSION SHIFTS AND LACK OF ABILITY TO REACH 9TH GEAR USING THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE MODE. 9TH GEAR IS UNATTAINABLE. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION "LEARNS" TO AN INDIVIDUAL'S DRIVING STYLE; BE PATIENT. AT 3775 MILES 4 AUG. 2014, I RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND THEY DID, AS THEY TERMED IT, A SOFTWARE UPDATE; BUT THE UPDATE DIDN'T REALLY FIX THE PROBLEM. ON 09 APR., 2015 I AGAIN RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT. THEY REPORTED THAT THEY HAD PERFORMED A REPROGRAM OF TRANSMISSION AND POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULES (R01 18-R0-11-84 0.5 & 18-RO-11-52 0.8). SINCE THEN, MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN PERFORMING EVEN WORSE. APPROACHING AN UPHILL INCLINE, THE TRANSMISSION DOESN'T DOWNSHIFT UNTIL IT NEARLY STOPS; THEN IT SUDDENLY AFTER 3-5 SECONDS, LUNGES FORWARD. ALSO I EXPERIENCED A NEAR 'T' BONE MISS, AS I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP SIGN BECAUSE. THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO BE STUCK IN A HIGH GEAR AND WOULDN'T RESPOND EXPECT IN A SLUGGISH WAY THAT ONLY GOT ME IN THE WAY OF APPROACHING TRAFFIC. BY AGGRESSIVELY PUSHING ON THE GAS IT EVENTUALLY SHIFTED AND BOLTED OUT OF THE WAY OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I CONTACTED THE DEALER ABOUT THIS, AND WAS TOLD THERE IS ANOTHER SOFTWARE UPDATE DUE ABOUT THE END OF JUNE 2015. I CONTACTED THEM AGAIN DURING THE WEEK OF 6 JULY, BUT WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NO UPDATE. FRANKLY, I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. IT JUST ISN'T SAFE BEHAVING IN THIS UNPREDICTABLE MANNER. I'VE GIVEN IT ENOUGH MILES TO ALLOW THE TRANSMISSION/DRIVETRAIN TO LEARN MY DRIVING HABITS. WHEN I DO DRIVE IT, I'M RELUCTANT TO HAVE ANYONE ELSE IN THE VEHICLE. THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT ANY GOOD IN THE JEEP THAT I PURCHASED. THE JEEP IS STALLING AND HESITATING TO CHANGE GEARS AND IT IS AN AUTOMATIC. WHEN I AM PROCEEDING TO LEAVE FROM A STOP SIGN THE JEEP WILL START TO GO AND THEN IT ACT AS IF IT DOESN'T KNOW WHICH GEAR TO CHANGE TO. WHILE DRIVING, THIS JEEP WILL ACT AS IF IT IS CHANGING GEARS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE AN ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL IN ORDER TO TOW 4500 POUNDS AS STATED IN THE OWNERS MANUAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT AN ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL WOULD NEED TO BE INSTALLED IN ORDER TO REPAIR VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 900. UPDATED 05/19/14 MA THE CONSUMER STATED THIS WAS A REPAIR ISSUE. NORMALLY, THERE IS A PLUG AVAILABLE TO INSTALL AN AFTER MARKET BRAKE CONTROLLER. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT EQUIPPED WITH THAT OPTION. UPDATED 05/27/2014 *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND JERKED VIOLENTLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 14,000.
VEHICLE PURCHASED 3/20/14 AC/HEATER UNIT SMELLS FOUL, BLOWS MOLDY AIR INTO THE CABIN AND DRIVER'S AND PASSENGERS FACES THIS PROBLEM BEGAN UPON PURCHASE WAS COMPLAINED ABOUT AT ALL SUBSEQUENT SERVICES, THEY SPRAYED FRIGI-FRESH INTO UNIT , WHICH MADE PASSENGERS SNEEZE, THAT ONLY LASTED MAYBE A WEEK, THEN PROBLEM RETURNED DEALER FINALLY CHANGED CABIN FILTER AFTER 2 1/2 YEARS, HOWEVER PROBLEM RETURNED, THEY CHECKED DRAIN PLUG, IT WAS CLOGGED AS WELL, SO THEY UNCLOGGED HOWEVER, THIS PROBLEM STILL EXISTS TO THE PRESENT, 2/2018, BLOWING BACTERIA RIDDEN AIR INTO THE OCCUPANTS FACES, UNABLE TO RELIABLY USE THIS EQUIPMENT WITHOUT NOXIOUS FUMES CONTAMINATING THE CABIN DEALER NOT PRO-ACTIVE IN REMEDYING THIS PROBLEM SERVICE INVOICES ARE AVAILABLE
THE PROBLEM WITH CHOPPY SHIFTING WAS APPARENT AS SOON AS I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE. SOON AFTER LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP, MULTIPLE LIGHTS LIT UP AND THE SHIFTING WAS ABRUPT AND THERE WAS A FIRE SMELL. UPON RETURNING TO THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A SOFTWARE "GLITCH," WHICH THEY REPAIRED. SINCE THEN, FOR ONE YEAR, THE CAR CONTINUES TO HAVE CHOPPY AND INCONSISTENT SHIFTING. IT IS A VERY TEMPERAMENTAL AND DIFFICULT VEHICLE TO DRIVE. THE LATEST SOFTWARE PATCH, INSTALLED ON 3/29/15 MADE SHIFTING FROM START UP TO FIRST/SECOND GEAR WORSE. THE CAR IS BEING RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 4/13/15 FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION. *TR

THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE REFRIGERANT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, ADDITIONAL FAILURES OCCURRED. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FAILED, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHEN CRUISE IS SET AT ANY RATE OF SPEED VEHICLE HAS THE TENDENCY TO SPEED UP TO 10-20 MPH ABOVE SET SPEED. ESPECIALLY WHEN GOING DOWN HILL OR ON LEVEL SURFACE. *TR
THIS CAR HAS BEEN LOOKED AT BY CHRYSLER GROUP LLC FOR STEERING/TRANSMISSION ISSUES 4 TIMES SINCE MARCH 22,2014. THERE HAS BEEN TWO SOFTWARE UPDATES THAT HAVE NOT CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. THERE IS A SAFETY ISSUE DRIVING THE VEHICLE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS REALLY HURT OR KILLED. *TR
CAR JUST STOPPED ON HIGHWAY. SINCE THEN 7 INCIDENTS, CHECK TRANSMISSION, ENGINE LIGHT ON,CAR GOING OUT OF GEAR AND NOT MOVING. INTO SERVICE 3 TIMES, NOW [XXX] HAS HAD IT FOR 2 AND 1/2 WEEKS AND CHRYSLER WILL NOT LET THEM PUT IN NEW TRANSMISSION, KEEP PUTTING PARTS IN AND THEN ANOTHER PROBLEM COMES UP. CHRYSLER'S NEW 9 SPEED TRANSMISSION STARTED ALWAYS SPEEDING UP WHEN I WOULD LET OFF THE GAS AND EXPECT THE VEHICLE TO SLOW DOWN, EVEN WHEN I JUST WANTED TO SLOW DOWN WHILE COMING TO A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. WHEN I HIT THE BRAKE THE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY THEN SLOW DOWN. IT SCARED ME WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD ACCELERATE ON IT'S OWN. SHIFTING GOT VERY JERKY AND UNEVEN SEEMED LIKE COULD NOT DECIDE WHICH GEAR IT SHOULD BE IN. WHILE ON THE FREEWAY IN LAS VEGAS THE MESSAGE CENTER SAID"SERVICE TRANSMISSION AND THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. WHEN I WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE FREEWAY THE TRANSMISSION SOUNDED LIKE IT HAD SAND IN IT, A VERY LOUD GRINDING SOUND AND THERE WAS NO POWER TO MOVE THE VEHICLE. I DID GET IT TO COAST INTO A SAFE LOCATION TO WAIT FOR THE TOW TRUCK TO COME AND GET THE VEHICLE. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS VEHICLE HAD A PROBLEM THE FIRST TIME WAS AT 3,000 MILES. HAD THE SAME MESSAGE ON THE MESSAGE CENTER, AGAIN I COASTED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND CAME TO A STOP. AT THIS TIME THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENGAGE SO THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. IT WAS TOWED TO A JEEP DEALER WHERE THEY SAID THE COMPUTER NEEDED AN UP DATE FOR THE TRANSMISSION, THEY DID IT AND OFF WE WENT NOT KNOWING THAT WE WOULD BE LEFT SITTING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD A SECOND TIME. I DID NOT SEE A COMPLIANT FOR THIS TYPE VEHICLE ON YOUR COMPLAINTS BOX AT THIS WEB-SITE BUT I HAVE ENTERED THIS COMPLIANT WITH YOU BEFORE. *TR
ON OR ABOUT MARCH 10 2014 WHILE DRIVING MY NEW CHEROKEE AT ABOUT 2000 MILES I FELT A WOBBLE WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A COMPLETE STOP,SEEMED TO BE FRONT RIGHT SIDE OF VEHICLE SHIMMY AND THEN STOP.AS DAYS WENT ON I NOTICED IT MORE AND MORE. SEVERAL WEEKS AGO I DID AN INTERNET SEARCH FOR MY VEHICLE HAVING A WOBBLING ISSUE AND FOUND THE JEEP CHEROKEE FORUM WITH A HANDFUL OF OTHERS WITH SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THERE 2014 CHEROKEES ALSO,THIS MADE ME VERY WORRIED THAT THERE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM.THE VEHICLE WOBBLES SIDE TO SIDE MOST OF THE TIME WHILE AT ABOUT 1700 RPM IN 2ND GEAR AND THEN SEEMS TO STOP WHEN THE TRANS ENGAGES INTO 3RD.SPEED VARIES FROM ABOUT 10 TO 15 MPH.DEALER COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM,WOBBLE IS LIGHT AT TIMES OR CAN BE VERY NOTICEABLE AS TO MAKE YOUR LEGS SHIMMY SIDE TO SIDE,WOBBLE SOMETIMES GOES AWAY ONLY TO START TO SHIMMY AGAIN HOURS LATER.I CURRENTLY HAVE 3300 MILES. WHILE TRAVELING ON A TRIP, I NOTICED I WAS LOOSING SPEED WHILE GOING DOWN A 4 LANE ROAD. I LOOKED AT THE CONTROL CENTER AND THE MESSAGE WAS "SERVICE TRANSMISSION AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON". I WAS LOSING SPEED SO PULLED OFF ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE ENGINE HAD QUIT RUNNING AND THE JEEP WOULD NOT GO INTO ANY GEAR. WE WERE IN THE DESERT 40 MILES FROM NO WHERE! CALLED A TOW SERVICE THEY TOOK US TO THE NEAREST JEEP DEALER. NEXT MORNING THE DEALERSHIP CALLED AND SAID OUR JEEP WAS READY TO GO. SECOND TIME JULY 14, 2014 WHILE TRAVELING ON A 2 LANE HIGHWAY I NOTICED I WAS LOSING SPEED. THE MESSAGE CENTER SAID " CHECK BATTERY" AGAIN THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN AS I WAS MOVING TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. CONTACTED THE SERVICE DEPT. OF OUR DEALERSHIP. WAS TOLD TO WAIT 10 MIN. THEN TRY TO START THE JEEP. IT DID START AND WE MADE IT BACK HOME. THIRD TIME, NOV. 20, 2014 WHILE TRAVELING NOTICED THE JEEP WOULD SPEED UP WHEN I LET OFF THE ACCELERATOR TO SLOW DOWN OR COAST. IF I APPLIED THE BRAKE THE JEEP WOULD THEN SLOW DOWN. NOTICED EVERY TIME I LET OFF THE GAS THE JEEP WOULD SPEED UP NOT SLOW DOWN. ABOUT 30 MIN. MORE OF TRAVELING TIME I AGAIN GOT THE MESSAGE "SERVICE TRANSMISSION WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT ON. I GOT OVER TO THE SIDE OF A 6 LANE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AND CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK AGAIN WAS TAKEN TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP. AT THAT POINT 12, 967 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. SIX DAYS LATER WHEN THE DEALERSHIP GOT AROUND TO THE DIAGNOSIS ON THE JEEP THEY SAID IT NEEDS A NEW NINE SPEED TRANSMISSION. WE WERE HOME AT THAT TIME 460 AWAY FROM WHERE WE HAD TO LEAVE THE JEEP WHEN IT QUIT RUNNING. BEING STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF A ROAD IN A NEW VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE BUT UNACCEPTABLE PERFORMANCE FOR A NEW VEHICLE. *TR
VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO DEALER FOR SAME ISSUE 4 TIMES. THE INFORMATION REFLECTED INDICATES THE FIRST TIME THAT WE BROUGHT THE CARE IN. INITIALLY WE TOOK THE CARE IN BECAUSE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTING ROUGHLY AND WOULD SOMETIMES DELAY BEFORE ENGAGING GEAR WHEN PRESSING ACCELERATOR. AFTER VEHICLE REPROGRAMMED AND RETURNED TO CUSTOMER IT WAS BEING DRIVEN ON FREEWAY AT NORMAL SPEEDS WHEN THE CHECK TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON, TOLD DRIVER TO PULL OVER AND THE VEHICLE LOST ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. VEHICLE COASTED TO SIDE OF FREEWAY AND WAS TOWED TO DEALER WHO ATTEMPTED TO FIX VEHICLE. VEHICLE RETURNED TO CUSTOMER, A SHORT TIME LATER VEHICLE HAD SAME ISSUE ON FREEWAY. AGAIN TOWED TO DEALER WHO AGAIN ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR VEHICLE AND REPLACED TRANSMISSION. A COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AGAIN VEHICLE EXHIBITED SAME EXACT BEHAVIOR. WAS TOWED TO DEALER AWAITING RESOLUTION OF ISSUE. THIS PROBLEM REPRESENTS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY HAZARD. REVIEW OF SIMILAR INCIDENTS ON THIS WEBSITE AS WELL AS OTHER WEBSITES INDICATES THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM THAT TENDS TO OCCUR AT HIGH RATES OF SPEED WHEN A COMPLETE LOSS OF VEHICLE POWER IS DANGEROUS TO BOTH THOSE DRIVING THE AFFECTED VEHICLE AND THOSE ON THE ROAD. *TR
A JEEP AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP CHANGED THE ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER FOR MY VEHICLE. ABOUT 15 MINUTES AFTER I TOOK MY VEHICLE FROM THE DEALERSHIP, THE INCIDENT HAPPENED ON A HIGHWAY. "SERVICE TRANSMISSION" WARNING SHOWED UP FIRST, THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON, AND SOME ELECTRONIC FUNCTIONS WERE DISABLED, WHICH INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FORWARD COLLISION WARNING, THE PARKSENSE, THE LANE SENSE, AND THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL. THE ESC ACTIVATION / MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT WAS ON. THERE WAS LOUD RATTLING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE, AND THE VEHICLE WAS SHAKING WHILE MOVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAD A DIFFICULT TIME MOVING THE VEHICLE OFF THE HIGHWAY. AFTER I PARKED ON A SURFACE ROAD, I FOUND NO ENGINE OIL WAS REGISTERED ON THE DIPSTICK. THE LEAKED OIL WAS SPLASHED OVER THE VEHICLE'S EXTERIOR. IN PARTICULAR, IT COVERED THE PARKING SENSORS AND THE REAR WINDOW, WHICH DISABLED THE ELECTRONIC SAFETY FEATURES AND GREATLY REDUCED MY VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLES BEHIND ME ON THE HIGHWAY WERE ALSO SPLASHED BY THE LEAKED OIL AND WERE BEEPING AND/OR CUTTING IN MY LANE TO COMPLAIN. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THAT THE RUBBER RING THAT SEALS THE CARTRIDGE HOUSING OF THE OIL FILTER WAS BROKEN, CAUSING THE ENGINE OIL LEAK. THIS O-SHAPED RUBBER RING COMES WITH THE OEM OIL FILTER THAT WAS INSTALLED WHEN THE OIL FILTER WAS CHANGED. THE ENGINE WAS DAMAGED. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT NO TEST DRIVE IS REQUIRED TO CHECK IF THERE IS A LEAK FOR OIL CHANGE SERVICE. THREE OTHER JEEP DEALERSHIPS CONFIRMED THIS CLAIM. I BELIEVE THERE IS A DESIGN DEFECT IN THE OIL FILTER SEALING THAT CAN CAUSE LIFE THREATENING ACCIDENTS. I BELIEVE JEEP DOES NOT INSTRUCT THEIR AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP TO IMPLEMENT AN OIL FILTER CHANGE PROCEDURE THAT ENSURES A PART DEFECT LIKE THIS WOULD BE DISCOVERED BEFORE THE VEHICLE LEAVES THE DEALERSHIP. *TR
VEHICLE HAS SHIMMY IN RIGHT FRONT WHEEL WHEN PULLING OUT FROM A COMPLETE STOP OR TURNING RIGHT AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED, I.E. 2ND GEAR, 10-20 MPH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS. AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR, IF THE VEHICLE WERE ON AN INCLINE, IT WOULD OCCASIONALLY SHIFT OUT OF GEAR INTO NEUTRAL AND ROLL BACKWARDS. THE CONTACT HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW. THE WARRANTY WAS FOR UNLIMITED MILES FOR UNLIMITED YEARS. POWER TRAIN: TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN MAKING A LARGE THUG WHICH MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE YOU GOT HIT BY A CAR OR PUTS A DELAY WHICH YOU THINK THE CAR STALLS. NOW THE TRANSMISSION IS MAKING LOUD NOISES AND WITH A INCREASE OF TEMPERATURE. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE WE'VE BOUGHT THE CAR. AFTER THAT I HAVE HAD IT IN SEVERAL TIMES FOR A VIBRATION FROM THE FRONT FROM TAKEOFF & TURNING BEGINNING BEFORE THE FIRST OIL (APPROXIMATELY 2000 MILES)CHANGE THEY KEPT TELLING ME THEY DIDN'T FEEL IT. ON 6/25/14 THEY SAID IT WAS COMING FROM THE PTU AND REPLACED IT, BUT IT CONTINUED WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE NEXT FEW TIMES THEY CONTINUED TO STATE THAT THEY DIDN'T FEEL IT, ON 7/29/14 THEY STATED THAT THEY WERE REPLACING BOTH FRONT AXLES PER STAR WHEN WE PICKED IT UP IT STILL HAD THE SHIMMY, THEN ON 8/15/14 I WAS PULLING OUT ONTO A MAJOR HIGHWAY FROM A COUNTY ROAD & THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE THE VEHICLE WOULD SIT & REV WHILE I WAS PARTIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY THIS TIME THEY FOUND THE RIGHT AXLE OUT OF PTU TOO SHORT & REPLACED AGAIN, SINCE THEN EVERY TIME I CALL OR GO IN THEIR I GET THE SAME RUN AROUND THEIR WAITING FOR A FIX FROM CHRYSLER. IT ALSO HAS A HABIT OF HOLDING IN 7TH GEAR AT SPEEDS UP TO 80MPH IN LEVEL TRAVEL ON THE FLORIDA TURNPIKE AND OTHER HIGH SPEED LEVEL ROADWAYS IN CENTRAL FLORIDA. THE LUNGES AND VIBRATION ARE AN ESPECIALLY NERVE WRACKING DAILY EXPERIENCE IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC.

THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS WHEN I WAS MERGING ONTO A HIGHWAY AND THE CAR LOCKED. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED, THE BREAKS LOCKED, AND MULTIPLE DIFFERENT MALFUNCTION LIGHTS CAME ON INCLUDING THE ENGINE LIGHT AND MY CAR SAYING TO CHECK THE TRANSMISSION. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON, AND NO LIGHTS WERE ON SO I DROVE IT TO THE NEXT EXIT TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY. AS I WAS TRYING TO GET INTO A PARKING LOT IN 5 O'CLOCK TRAFFIC, THE CAR ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN THEN LOCKED UP AGAIN. I ENDED UP HAVING TO GET A NEW TRANSMISSION OWNING THE CAR FOR LESS THAN A MONTH. SINCE THEN THE CAR HAS HAD RANDOM MOMENTS OF ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN AND WHEN I HAVE REPORTED IT TO JEEP ARLINGTON THEY WOULD SAY NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR. SINCE THEN, MY CAR HAS HAD 3 OTHER SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHERE IT HAS LOCKED UP AND/OR ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN AND HAVING TO GET IT TOWED TO JEEP; ALL REPORTEDLY BY JEEP HAVING TO DO WITH MY TRANSMISSION. ONE OF THOSE TIMES OCCURRED AGAIN ON A BUSY STATE ROAD DURING 5 O'CLOCK TRAFFIC AND AN OFFICER HAD TO STAY BEHIND ME UNTIL A TOW COMPANY CAME.

I PURCHASED MY NEW JEEP CHEROKEE ON 2/2/2014. FROM VERY SOON AFTER I BEGAN DRIVING IT, I WAS AWARE THAT THERE WAS AN UNUSUALLY HIGH AMOUNT OF NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END WHEN THE CAR WAS GOING MORE THAN 30 MPH OR SO; IT SOUNDED AS IF THE CAR HAD A PROPELLER. I RETURNED THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP THE FOLLOWING DAY (I RESIDE ABOUT 35 MILES AWAY). AT FIRST, THEY THOUGHT IT WAS A TRANSMISSION NOISE, BUT IT WAS SUBSEQUENTLY DIAGNOSED AS A BAD WHEEL BEARING. AFTER A NEW BEARING WAS SHIPPED OVERNIGHT FROM DETROIT, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE BEARING ON THE OTHER FRONT WHEEL WAS ALSO BAD AND REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. I AM CONTACTING NHTSA BECAUSE BAD BEARINGS ON BOTH FRONT WHEELS SUGGESTS TO ME THAT THERE IS MORE THAN COINCIDENCE INVOLVED, AND THAT OTHER NEW CHEROKEES MIGHT BE SIMILARLY AFFECTED IF A WHOLE PRODUCTION RUN OF DEFECTIVE BEARINGS HAVE BEEN INSTALLED ON THIS MODEL OF VEHICLE. I AM AWARE THAT BAD WHEEL BEARINGS, IF IGNORED, CAN EVENTUALLY LEAD TO CATASTROPHIC FAILURE, BEARING SEIZURE, AND LOSS OF WHEELS AND/OR VEHICLE CONTROL. *TR
THE TRANSMISSION HAS HAD ISSUES SINCE I GOT THE CAR, THE DEALER HAS DONE SEVERAL SOFTWARE UPDATES BUT NONE COMPLETELY SOLVE THE ISSUE. THE CAR FEELS LIKE IT WOBBLES WHEN IT ACCELERATES FROM A STOP AND THEY CANNOT SEEM TO FIX THIS PROBLEM OR ADMIT THAT THERE IS ONE. ALSO, WHEN YOU TURN THE STEERING WHEEL IT MAKES A GRINDING OR WHINING NOISE AND I HAVE BROUGHT IT BACK TWICE FOR THIS. THEY JUST GREASE THE SYSTEM AND IT STAYS QUIET FOR MAYBE 10 MILES. I'M CONCERNED THAT THIS COULD LEAD TO A MUCH BIGGER ISSUE IN TERMS OF SAFETY IF IT LOSES STEERING TO SOME DEGREE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON INSPECTION, HE NOTICED THAT THERE WAS CONDENSATION BUILD UP IN THE HEADLIGHT HOUSING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NORMAL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200.
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE ON DECEMBER 17TH SINCE I HAVE HAD IT.. IT JERKS VERY HARD WHILE DRIVER LIKE IT IS SWITCH GEARS WHEN I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER SHIP CHERRYHILL TRIPLEX PUT ON MACHINE NOTHING WRONG BUT THE JEEP IS STILL DOING IT. 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE LIMITED V-6 4X4. PURCHASED NEW. VEHICLE WOBBLES IN 2ND GEAR. MOST NOTABLE ON FAST ACCELERATION. IT HAS CONTINUED TO DO SO SINCE PURCHASE. CHRYSLER DEALERS NOTIFIED, BUT HAVE NOT SUGGESTED A FIX. *TR
SINCE THE PURCHASE OF MY NEW 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE THE TRANSMISSION HAS SHIFTED ROUGH WHEN IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, GETTING STUCK IN THE LOWER GEAR AND THEN FINALLY SLAMMING INTO THE NEXT HIGHER GEAR CAUSING THE CAR TO JUMP FORWARD - EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN IN CLOSE TRAFFIC! IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC UP TO 15-20 MPH AND IT SEEMS LIKE IT WILL NOT SHIFT NO MATTER HOW MUCH I ACCELERATE THEN IT RELEASES SUDDENLY. ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE HIGHER GEARS IT SEEMS TO SLIP ONLY OCCASIONALLY. THE REAR SEAT BELTS ALSO HAVE CONSISTENTLY "LOCKED UP" REMOVING ALL SLACK UNTIL YOU HAVE TO PULL OVER AND STOP THE VEHICLE, TURN IT OFF, UNBUCKLE THE BELT LET IT ALL THE WAY BACK IN AND THEN REATTACH IT. YESTERDAY 4/28/14 IT DID THIS AGAIN TO MY GRANDDAUGHTER, WHEN WE FOUND A PLACE TO PULL OVER IT WOULD NOT LET US UNBUCKLE THE LAP PIECE OR GIVE HER ANY SLACK IN THE SHOULDER STRAP TO GET OUT OF IT, I WAS FORCED TO PULL INTO A RECYCLING CENTER AND BORROWED A KNIFE FROM ONE OF THE WORKERS TO "CUT" THE BELT IN HALF SO IT WOULD RELEASE HER. BOTH REAR SEAT BELTS DO THIS ON EVEN ROADS WITH NO SORT OF INCLINE OR BUMPS! I WILL BE CARRYING A POCKET KNIFE FROM NOW ON, WHAT IF WE WERE IN A ACCIDENT OR NEEDED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE QUICKLY??!! DEALERSHIP SAID THEY WOULD ORDER NEW BELTS AND HAVE THEM INSTALLED, I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO TAKE IT IN TOMORROW FOR THEM TO DIAGNOSE THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM & SEAT BELT PROBLEM. I WILL FOLLOW UP WITH THE REMEDY OR LACK THEREOF. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS NOW AT 8700 MILES. *JS
WITHIN 10 DAYS OF THE PURCHASE OF MY NEW JEEP CHEROKEE TRAILHWAK I WAS TRAVELING SLOWLY THROUGH A PARKING LOT AND APPROACHED A SPEED BUMP. AFTER TRAVELING OVER THE SPEED BUMP I DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR WHEN I NOTICED THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND THE TRANSMISSION SOUNDED AS IF IT WAS GRINDING AND ALMOST AS OF SOMETHING WAS LOOSE. THAT PARTICULAR ISSUE ALWAYS HAPPENS WHEN TRAVELING OVER A SPEED BUMP. I'M NOW 7 MONTHS INTO OWNERSHIP AND THE TRANSMISSION IS VERY SLUGGISH. HESITATION IS NORMAL WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP AND REALLY NEARLY CONSTANT. WHEN THE CAR WAS NEW I JUST ASSUMED IT WAS A SLOW/SLUGGISH TRANSMISSION BUT AFTER READING MUCH FEEDBACK I UNDERSTAND NOW IT IS VERY COMMON. *TR
WIFE WAS DRIVING NEW VEHICLE TO WORK TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH. VEHICLE STALLED. TRIED TO RESTART AND THE EN DRIVE ON. SERVICE TRANSMISSION APPEARED IN DASH. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE DRIVE INDICATOR WAS FLASHING. VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN. RESTARTED AGAIN AND VEHICLE MOVED ROUGHLY STUCK IN ONE GEAR ACTING LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL AGAIN. DEALER WAS CALLED TO COME GET THE VEHICLE FOR SERVICE. THE DEALER COMPLETED UPDATE FOR DRIVEABILITY. NO OTHER PROBLEMS FOUND AT THAT TIME. BEGAN TO NOTICE ROUGH SHIFTS SOMETIMES AROUND 8000 MILES. I WAS DRIVING IN TOWN ON 06/21/2015 AND CAR STALLED HOLDING UP TRAFFIC. SAME SCENARIO OF STUCK IN ONE GEAR,CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON,SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT ON AND THE DRIVE INDICATOR FLASHING ON AND OFF. HAD TO RESTART TWICE AND LIMPED HOME. TAKING BACK TO DEALER TODAY. MILEAGE 14889.
MY JEEP CHEROKEE DEVELOPED AN OBVIOUS SMELL IN THE SPRING OR 2015. I DID NOT SMELL THE MOLD PROBLEM UNTIL THIS POINT, AND THE JEEP SMELLED DURING THE FIRST 10 MINUTES OF RUNNING THE A/C, AND THEN THE ODOR WOULD DISSIPATE. THE DEALER COULD NOT SMELL THE ODOR, AND THEY SPRAYED A DEODORIZER IN THE INTERIOR VENTS. AFTER THE DEALER SPRAYED THE DEODORIZER, THE SMELL COMING FROM THE VENTS WAS UNBEARABLE. I COULDN'T BREATHE. I TOOK THE JEEP BACK FOR THE SECOND TIME, AND THE SERVICE PERSON ADVISED THAT HE HAD NEVER SMELLED ANYTHING SO BAD, AND THAT HE CALLED CHRYSLER, AND CHRYSLER WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND IT WAS MOLD. HE SAID THAT CHRYSLER WAS SENDING A KIT TO CLEAN THE A/C WITH CHEMICALS. DURING THE TIME THAT I DROVE THIS JEEP, I BECAME VERY ILL, ALL SYMPTOMS THAT ARE CONSISTENT WITH MOLD EXPOSURE.
