ALMOST HAD A REAR END COLLISION, TRANSMISSION STOPPED FUNCTIONING AND LOSS ALL POWER AT HIGHWAY SPEED, VEHICLE BEHIND ME SKIDDED BEFORE COMING INCHES TO HITTING ME. SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON AND WHILE GIVING GAS, VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO. VEHICLE HAS 34000 MILES AND CAN'T GO ON FREEWAY.
THE BEZEL AROUND THE SHIFTER (THE PART WITH THE LIGHTS SPECIFICALLY) STARTED SHORTING AND GIVING AN ERROR TO SERVICE THE SHIFTER. SOMETIMES IT WILL GO AWAY IF THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN. THERE ARE ALSO TIMES WHERE, WHEN SHIFTING, THE CAR REFUSES TO SHIFT INTO ANY GEAR AND STAYS IN PARK. MY FEAR IS THAT ONE DAY IT WILL BE SHIFTED INTO REVERSE, I WILL REVERSE AND THEN NO LONGER BE ABLE TO SHIFT INTO ANY OTHER GEAR, THUS STRANDING ME IN REVERSE.
MY VEHICLE IS AT 86,500 MILES AND THE SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE HAS COME UP ON MY DASHBOARD MORE THAN ONCE NOW AND FROM WHAT I CAN FIND, THERE IS NO SOLID OR PERMANENT FIX FOR IT AT THIS TIME. I WOULD LIKE THE BE ABLE TO FIX MY CAR AND NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THIS ISSUE AGAIN.
CAR IS AT 52,000 MILES AND THE TRANSMISSION STOPPED WORKING. DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT WENT ON, AS SOON AS I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY MY CAR WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON AND VEHICLE WILL EVENTUALLY NOT SHIFT INTO THE NEXT GEAR. HAVE SERVICED BEFORE AND IT COMES ON AGAIN.
CAR HAS HAD REPETITIVE ISSUES LOSING POWER DIRECTLY AFTER A SHARP RIGHT HAND TURN. COMPLETELY LOSES POWER FOR A FEW SECONDS BUT LONG ENOUGH TO POTENTIALLY BE REAR ENDED. I HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP 3 TIMES AND THEY CANNOT CORRECT THE ISSUE. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE FOR THE LAST 30,000 MILES AND SEEMS NO HELP IS COMPING FROM THE DEALERSHIP OR MANUFACTURER. I WAS ORIGINALLY TOLD THAT IT WAS A LOW OIL ISSUE ALTHOUGH THE OIL WAS NOT LOW. THIS IS THE V6 VERSION AND DOES NOT CONSUME OIL LIKE THE 4 CYLINDER. VEHICLE HAS BEEN REFLASHED TWICE AND DEALERSHIP IS UNWILLING TO FIND SOURCE AND FIX. I HAVE ONE PARTICULAR TURN ON TO A INTERSTATE HIGHWAY I MAKE EVERY DAY AND THE VEHICLE CONSISTENTLY STALLS ON THAT TURN. IT IS A POTENTIAL FOR A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURER. THERE IS HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE WITH THE SAME ISSUE AND YET NO RECALL OR EVEN A SERVICE BULLETIN. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE INTERVENE BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED.
AIR BAG SERVICE LIGHT IS ON. ALSO, THE SEATBELT LIGHT IS ON STATING DRIVER DOES NOT HAVE SEATBELT EVEN WHEN PLUGGED IN. VEHICLE WAS ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THIS OCCURRED.
SERVICE SHIFTER
MY 2016 JEEP SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT APPEARED THEN THE NEXT THING I HAD NO ACCELERATION ON THE EXPRESSWAY. SEEMS LIKE THERE WAS NO POWER ON THE GAS PETAL AND THE CAR WAS JUST NOT GOING. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF RUSH HOUR AND COULD NOT GET OFF THE EXPRESSWAY. AFTER A COUPLE OF MINUTES OF ME PRESSING DOWN ON THE GAS PETAL IT FINALLY WORKED. I IMMEDIATELY GOT OFF THE EXPRESSWAY. ON THE WAY HOME EVERY TIME I WOULD STOP THE SAME THING WOULD OCCUR, BUT THIS TIME I WOULD TURN OFF AND ON THE VEHICLE AND IT SEEMED TO RESET AND WORK AGAIN. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOP WERE THEY SAID IT WAS TCM WHICH THEY UPDATED/RESET, BUT THEY ALSO TOLD ME THIS WOULD HAVE TO BE DONE EVERY COUPLE OF YEARS BECAUSE CHYSLER DOES UPDATES AND UNFORTUNATELY WE HAVE TO PAY THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THIS UPDATED FOR US OR WE WILL HAVE ISSUES. WELL I HAD EVERYTHING UPDATED THEN AFTER A COUPLE OF HOURS WITH MY VEHICLE ONCE AGAIN THE "SERVICE TRANSMISSION" LIGHT REAPPEARED. NOW THEY ARE SAYING IT IS THE TCM THAT NEEDS TO REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 58,470 MILES, THIS IS RIDICULOUS THAT WE HAVE TO PAY FOR THESE UPDATES AND THAT THE VIN NUMBER IS NOT ON THE LIST TO HAVE THESE ISSUES FIXED BY CHYSLER. I HAVE READ UP ON THIS AND I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO. IF I WOULD HAVE KNOWN HOW MUCH TROUBLE I WOULD HAVE WITH A JEEP/CHYSLER PRODUCT, I WOULD NEVER HAVE BOUGHT IT.
CAR SHUT DOWN IN MIDDLE OF ROAD, HAPPENED FEW MORE TIMES, CAR IS CONSUMING GAS IN LESS THEN 700 MILES, MECH SAYS ITS A ENGINE ISSUE, I HAVE TO REFILE EVERY FEW DAYS, CAR IS STRUGGLING TO MOVE, I FEAR SHUT DOWN AGAIN IF I DO NOT FILL IN A DANGEROUS LOCATION
My emergency parking brake module failed. The module would then engage the emergency brake randomly causing it to stick and create a very dangerous situation. I was able to get the brake to disengage and drive to the dealer for repairs. The repair took awhile and was expensive. I’m extremely fortunate I wasn’t driving when it happened, and I went immediately to the dealer. This was an incredibly unsafe situation as the brake will engage even when driving. My Jeep was stuck in front of the dealer where I parked it with the brake fully engaged. They came to get me to show them how I got the brake to disengage and move the vehicle into the shop. The brake module is in an unfortunate place with no protection from water damage. A leak (probably from the rear sunroof drain coming unattached) caused my damage. Jeep has known about this defect for a long time. My damage was in fall 2020. I’m just now reporting it because I’m having emergency parking brake issues again only 2.5 years later. This is extremely unsafe and Jeep must be held accountable.
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS MOVED FROM PARK TO ANY OTHER GEAR, ALL GEAR INDICATOR LIGHTS, LIGHT UP AS WELL AS A MESSAGE DISPLAYING "SERVICE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER". THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON ISSUE THAT NOBODY CAN SEEM TO GET A STRAIGHT ANSWER AS TO HOW TO CORRECT THE ISSUE.
2016 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHEN STARTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP, CAR STARTS TO MOVE THEN HESITATES AS IF SHIFTING TO A HIGHER GEAR, WAY TO EARLY. RPMS GO UP THEN TRANSMISSION SHIFTS BACK DOWN TO CORRECT GEAR, CAUSING JERKING REACTION AND THEN RUNS NORMALLY. THE ONLY GOOD THING IS THAT THIS PROBLEM COMES AND GOES. PROBLEMS STARTED AROUND 2018 WITH AROUND 15000 MILES.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED SHE PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SAT FOR A WHILE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO RESUME DRIVING, THE VEHICLE HESITATED. THE CONTACT STATED SHE DROVE THE VEHICLE TO HER RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000.
THE INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON THAT READ 'SERVICE SHIFTER'. THEN THE P R N D LIT UP AT THE SAME TIME IN RED.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON WITH ALL THE GEAR LIGHTS LIT UP TOO. VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN LIGHTS FIRST CAME ON. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE SERVICE DEPT. SAID THAT THE SHIFTER BOX AND WIRES NEED REPLACED. SERVICE DEPT. SAYS CHEROKEE ARE KNOWN FOR THIS. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 49700 MILES.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD IT FIXED BEFORE. LIGHT CAME BACK ON WITHIN 3 MONTHS AFTER GETTING IT FIXED. I SAW A POST ON FACEBOOK ABOUT A LADY THAT HAD IT HAPPEN TO HER 2017 CHEROKEE. SHE STATED THAT THE LIGHT CAME ON RANDOMLY WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING AND THAT HER WHEEL LOCKED IN PLACE AND THE CAR SPED UP AND SHE CRASHED. CHRYSLER IS INVESTIGATING THE ISSUE. THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENS TO ME WHILE DRIVING. THE LIGHT COMES ON RANDOMLY.
FUEL PUMP FAILURE CAUSING EMMISION PURGE TANK TO FILL WITH FUEL CAUSING $1700 REPAIR BILL. TRANSMISSION SHIFTS WITH SUDDEN JERK UNEXPECTEDLY ALMOST CAUSING WHIP LASH.
LIGHTS ON DASH TURNED RED AND SAYS SERVICE SHIFTER. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 6-8 MONTHS AGO AND NOW AGAIN TODAY
SERVICE SHIFTER. ALL LIGHTS COME ON. HAVE TO PULL OVER AND TURN CAR OFF SO CAR DOESN'T LOCK UP
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MILES PER HOUR, MY VEHICLE DINGED AND THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAY SHOWED SERVICE SHIFTER. I LOOK AT THE GEAR SHIFT, WHICH WAS STILL IN DRIVE, AND ALL THE LIGHTS WERE ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED REPEATEDLY OVER THE PAST YEAR OR SO AT RANDOM TIMES: ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE DRIVING, WHILE AT STOP SIGNS, WHEN STARTING THE CAR FOR THE FIRST TIME OF THE DAY. SOMETIMES I WILL GO WEEKS WITHOUT A PROBLEM, OTHER TIMES I WILL GO MINUTES. THE CURRENT WORK AROUND IS TO SHUT THE CAR OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHTS COME ON BUT ONCE YOU SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF THE NEXT TIME YOU START THE CAR IT'S OF IT COMES ON AND COMES OFF. ALL LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER LIGHT IN RED AND STAY ON. VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE AND I WAS DRIVING IN THE CITY.
SERVICE SHIFTER ISSUE, REPLACED THE SHIFTER 3 TIMES AND PROBLEM KEEPS COMING BACK MONTHS LATER
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the 4-Wheel drive warning light had illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer and diagnosed with a defective power transfer unit. The dealer also informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V343000 (Power Train). The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and informed that contact that recalls were VIN specific and that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The vehicle remained in the possession of the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
I HAVE 43,000 ON MY 2016..WAS DRIVING HOME ON THE FREEWAY AND MY SERVICE TRANSMISSION WARNING CAME ON AND NOW SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON....SOUNDS LIKE A COMMON PROBLEM
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON AT AROUND 29K MILES OR SO. HAD IT SERVICED AT A JEEP DEALER WITH MY MAXCARE WARRANTY AND I'M NOW AT 33K MILES AND THE SERVICE SHIFTER CAME BACK ON. I'VE READ ON FORUMS THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE. I'M PAYING A LOT OF MONEY FOR THIS CAR AND IT'S RIDICULOUS TO HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS ISSUE AFTER GETTING IT FIXED. THE FIRST TIME THE LIGHT CAME ON IT WASN'T READING THAT IT WAS IN PARK. NOW IT COMES ON WHENEVER I'M DRIVING. I'VE READ THAT THIS ISSUE HAS CAUSED SOME PEOPLE TO HAVE TO REPLACE A TRANSMISSION.
WE'RE GETTING THE 'SERVICE 4WD' WARNING AGAIN. THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED.
WHEN TURNING, LEFT OR RIGHT MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE STALLED. IT EMITTED A DING SOUND AND FLASHED THE MESSAGE 'SHIFT GEAR TO PARK FIRST'. THE BATTERY LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE ENGINE SHUT ITSELF OFF. I LOST POWER STEERING AND ACCELERATION. IT HAS HAPPENED 7 TIMES SINCE DECEMBER 2019, SOMETIMES MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY. I SUSPECT THE OIL LEVEL BEING LOW IS THE CAUSE. BUT I HAVE NO INDICATION THAT THE OIL LEVEL GETS LOW.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WITH A FRIEND, HAD MY CRUISE CONTROL SET AND THE CAR STARTED SPEEDING UP, I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO DISENGAGE AND IT DIDNT SO I PRESSED CANCEL ON THE STEERING WHEEL IT JUST KEEP GOING, I KEEP TAPPING THE BREAK PEDAL, FINALLY IT JUST WENT OFF,I ASKED MY GIRLFRIEND IF SHE FELT THAT, SHE SAID YES I THOUGHT YOU WERE DOING IT, I WONDERED WHAT YOU WERE DOING..I HAD A RECALL ON MY CAR EARILER FOR THE CRUISE CONTROL AND TOOK IT IN BUT IF THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE IT WASNT FIXED PROPERLY. I CALLED JEEP AND THEY SAID SINCE THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE ID HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR..I BELIEVE THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE.. THERE ARE ONLY 21683 MILES ON MY CAR..
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT APPEARS ON MY DASHBOARD INTERMITTENTLY. THIS USUALLY OCCURS WHEN I'M EITHER PARKING MY VEHICLE OR WHEN IT IS IN PARK. IF I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART IT GOES OUT FOR THE TIME BEING. I DON'T KNOW IF THE FREQUENCY WILL INCREASE ON HOW MUCH THIS LIGHT WILL CONTINUE TO COME ON.
SERVICE SHIFTER ISSUES, THIS IS MY FOURTH TIME NEEDING TO REPAIR/REPLACE THE BEZEL AND HARNESS.. DASH SAYS SERVICE SHIFTER AND ALL LIGHTS FROM PARK, DRIVE, REVERSE ETC LIGHT UP RED WHILE DRIVING AT WHICH TIME MUST PULL VEHICLE OVER AND RESTART TO RESET IT UNTIL REPAIRED. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME 4 TIMES NOW BEGINNING IN 2016, 2017, 2019, AND AGAIN NOW IN 2020. I SEE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ON LINE WITH THIS ISSUE AND WOULD LIKE TO SUGGEST PERHAPS PUTTING OUT A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE.
Vehicle hesitates, vibrates, looses momentum, shutters, almost stalls when ac to touched since the day I bought it at napelton jeep in palm beach fla. I was told it’s a jeep thing. The engine roars to like like it’s fighting to start. A fan sound will go on and off non stop effecting the power and rpm’s. A loss of power happens and then the car goes back to normal after a completely shaking the cab vibrating and shuttering
2016 JEEP CHEROKEE ON THE HIGHWAY RANDOMLY LOSE POWER AND WOULD NEED TO PULL OVER RESTART FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO REENGAGE. THIS SEEMS TO BE RECALL, HAD THE WORK DONE IN MICHIGAN WHILE ON VACATION DUE TO THE DANGERS OF DRIVING IT BACK HOME TO TN. DEALER DID NOT MENTION IT COULD BE A RECALL AND HAD ME PAY FULL AMOUNT.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the gear shifter error message was permanently displayed on the instrument panel. Additionally, the information from the speedometer, fuel gauge and other features were not available due to the failure. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who replaced a gear shifter wire and bezel, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 50,000.
I RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION A FEW TIMES SAYING SERVICE TRANSMISSION. THE LIGHT WOULD STAY ON FOR A DAY THEN GO AWAY. UPON THE THIRD TIME OR RECEIVING THIS MESSAGE I NOTICED MY CAR STARTED SHIFTING HARD WHILE ACCELERATING. I HAD SOMEONE CHECK MY CODES AND I RECEIVED 3 CODES. B10E9, B10EA, AND P1DB7. I HAVE READ SO MANY SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE AND I NOTICED MY VIN IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. I ONLY HAD THIS CAR FOR 2 MONTHS BEFORE I GOT ANY OF THESE MESSAGES AND STARTED HAVING THESE ISSUES. I CAN'T AFFORD TO FIX THIS AT THE MOMENT AND IT'S REALLY STRESSFUL TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY CAR. ITS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. PLEASE HELP.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND DROVE TO HER DESTINATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SMOKY MOUNTAIN CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM LOCATED AT 556 HIGHLANDS RD, FRANKLIN, NC 28734, (828) 369-5003, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING THE BRAKE MODULE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT, CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO DEALER HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 68,000.
I WAS DRIVING HOME AND HAD TO COME TO A FULL STOP DUE TO A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE ENGINE JUST SHUTS DOWN, AND THERE'S A MESSAGE TO SHIFT THE CAR TO DESIRED GEAR. THE CAR WAS ON DRIVE BUT DID NOT RESPOND. I SHIFTED GEARS FROM DRIVE TO PARK AND GOT NO RESPONSE FROM CAR. IT ALSO SEEMED TO INDICATE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS ENGAGED, BUT IT WAS NOT. HAD TO TURN OFF CAR COMPLETELY (ON A THREE LANE STREET), AND TURN IT BACK ON AGAIN. I GOT THIS CAR 4 MONTHS AGO, BOUGHT IT USED WITH 36,000 MILES ON IT AND HAD NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS. NOW I SEE THIS IS A RECURRENT PROBLEM ON MANY CHEROKEES, AND I'M SO DISAPPOINTED THAT FCA HAS NOT LOOKED INTO FIXING THIS ISSUE. I WILL HAVE TO TAKE TO A DEALER.
A PIN FELL OUT OF THE SHIFTER WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY CAUSING IT TO MALFUNCTION
45695 MILES "SERVICE SHIFTER" SHOWED UP ON THE DASHBOARD.I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND ALL THE SHIFT LIGHTS WERE ON.
WITHOUT WARNING MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE WILL STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I HAVE CHECKED THE OIL AFTER THIS OCCURRED AND THERE WAS VERY LITTLE OIL LEFT. NO INDICATOR LIGHTS CAME ON AND THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 35-45 MPH AND WHILE MAKING LEFT TURNS. THE OIL IS CONSISTENTLY CHANGED AT 5000 MILES AND THIS OCCURS AFTER ABOUT 2000 MILES
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON WITH THE MESSAGE SERVICE TRANSMISSION. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY CLEARED THE CODE THEN TEST DROVE IT BUT WAS UNABLE TO RECREATE THE CODE. THE CODE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME AND GONE SEVERAL TIMES SINCE THIS INCIDENT. EVERY TIME THIS HAPPENS WE ARE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY AND ARE IN 7TH OR 8TH GEAR.
I WAS DRIVING FOR ABOUT 20 MILES. STOPPED AT A STORE FOR 5 MINUTES, TURNED THE CAR OFF . GOT BACK IN THE CAR AND THE SERVICE AIRBAG SYSTEM LIGHT CAME ON. THEN IT WENT OFF AND ON FOR THE 20 MILE RIDE HOME. THEN IT STAYED ON ALL THE TIME. CALLED THE CAR DEALER AND TOLD THEM ABOUT MY PROBLEM. SAID THAT IT WAS PROBLEM DEFECTIVE. MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE JEEP. WAS TOLD THAT THE INTERMEDIATE SEAT CONNECTOR UNDER THE SEAT WAS BAD. THAT THE PINS RE MAKING A POOR CONNECTION. HAD TO BUY A NEW HARNESS.
CONSOLE SUDDENLY DISPLAYED 'SERVICE SHIFTER' MESSAGE WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH ON HIGHWAY. IT WAS DRY OUT. ALSO ALL SHIFTER LIGHTS PRND LIGHTS ON SOLID. I'M AT APPROX 70,000 K. AFRAID TO STOP IN RIGHT ON EMPTY HIGHWAY LATE AT NIGHT, I DTOVE TO NEAREST SERVICE BEFORE SHUTTING OFF ENGINE. RESTARTING CLEARED ERROR. AS I WAS ON A LONG ROAD TRIP, CONTINUED ON. THIS ERROR OCCURRED FOR SECOND TIME, APPROX 2000K LATER. RESTARTING AGAIN CLEARED. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN SINCE. SAW ONLINE HUNDREDS WITH SAME ISSUE AND NO CLEAR FIX OR RECALL. JEEP NEED TO ADDRESS THIS ASAP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED ROUGH IDLING. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO QUIRK CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (830 PLAIN ST, MARSHFIELD, MA 02050) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT CYLINDER NUMBER 3 FAILED AND THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS DIAGNOSED THAT LOW COMPRESSION ON CYLINDER NUMBER 3 SHOWED INTERNAL FAILURE WITH DTC NUMBER: P0303 (CYLINDER #3 MISFIRE). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 68,000.
WAS TURNING LEFT AND VEHICLE SHUT OFF MIDTURN WAS NEARLY REAR ENDED TOOK JEEP IN SHOP DIDN'T FIX WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY ALSO WAS DRIVING WHEN ALL JEEP INSTRUMENT WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND LOST ALL POWER COASTED TO A STOP RESTARTED, SHIFTING BECAME SLUGGISH MOTOR STARTED KNOCKING TOOK TO SHOP TO GET FIX SPEND OVER 2000 BUCKS TO GET FIX NOW THEY WANT 7000 BUCKS FOR ENGINE
ENGINE BURNS TO MUCH OIL. OIL LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON UNTIL ALMOST COMPLETELY OUT OF OIL. CAR STOPS SUDDENLY AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE. AN ERROR MESSAGE WILL POP UP TELLING YOU TO PUT YOUR CAR IN PARK AND YOU'LL HAVE TO TRY TO START IT A COUPLE TIMES AND IT WILL TURN OVER BEFORE START.
"SERVICE SHIFTER" WARNING MESSAGE APPEARS AND ALL POSITIONS ON THE SHIFTER CONSOLE ARE LIGHTED (P, D, R, ETC.). ALMOST ALWAYS HAPPENS AT HIGHWAY SPEED. MOST OF THE TIME, BUT NOT ALWAYS, STOPPING VEHICLE AND TURNING OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN CLEARS THE MESSAGE. OCCASSIONALLY REQUIRES MULTIPLE POWER OFF/ON CYCLES TO RESTART WITHOUT THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" MESSAGE.
"SERVICE SHIFTER" WARNING COMES UP ON THE DASH PERIODICALLY. BEEN HAPPENING OVER THE LAST YEAR. SOMETIME IT'S A FEW DAYS OR MONTHS BEFORE IT COMES BACK ON. CONTACTED LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP WHO SAID NOT TO BRING IT IN UNTIL THE WARNING IS CONSISTENT. ALSO, DEALERSHIP SAID THEY CAN'T CHECK THE WARNING UNLESS IT'S ACTIVE. THE WARNING GOES AWAY IF THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND BACK ON. WARNING HAS COME ON WHILE BOTH IN MOTION AND STATIONARY. SEARCHED NUMEROUS WEBSITES AND IT APPEARS ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE. WHY ISN'T THERE A RECALL ON THIS? SEEMS LIKE NO ONE REALLY KNOWS HOW TO FIX IT.
