The electronics in the doorhandle were corrupted, and broke. This cause a short in the system, making my car lock and unlock itself uncontrolled, thereby draining the battery. The car could not be jumpstarted for this reason because the battery was perpetually drained. It required being towed, and the remedy took several months. This is completely unreasonable, for a small freeze to totally "brick" an off-road vehicle because of a doorhandle issue.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE COSMETIC PANEL ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR THAT WENT FROM THE BOTTOM TO THE TOP OF THE WINDOW, FLEW OFF WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 65 MPH. THE CONTACT CALLED THE LANDERS CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF NORMAN DEALER (405-321-8228, 481 N INTERSTATE DR, NORMAN, OK 73069) WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A KNOWN ISSUE. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 52,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
