WHILE DRIVING AND TURNING A LEFT CORNER RESULTED IN LOSS OF ENGINE POWER, POWER STEERING, AND BRAKING. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND WE HAVE STOPPED DRIVING THE FAMILY VEHICLE DUE TO THIS SAFETY ISSUE WHICH IS NOT DEEMED SAFE TO DRIVE ESPECIALLY UP AND DOWN HILLS....WE HAD TO PURCHASE ANOTHER VEHICLE SINCE THE RECALL FIX IS STILL NOT AVAILABLE AND WON'T BE FOR OVER 1 YEAR! *TR

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000.
THERE IS A SERIOUS ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH THE SUV WHICH STARTED WITHIN . THE DEALERS LOOKED AT IT, I PAID FOR COMPUTER DIAGNOSTICS AND STILL NOTHING. BESIDES ALL THE LIGHTS FLASHING ON AND OFF, THE SPEEDOMETER FLUCTUATING, ACTUALLY ALL THE INSTRUMENTS GOING ON AND OFF WHILE I AM DRIVING; ALSO, THE TEMPERATURE CONTROL PANEL DOES NOT LIGHT UP WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON. I HAVE NEVER HAD AN AUTOMOBILE WITH ALL THESE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS THAT NO ONE CAN FIX. PLEASE RECALL THIS VEHICLE BEFORE SOMEONE DIES. I TRY NOT TO DRIVE LONG DISTANCES ALONE BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. ALL THIS AND MORE HAS BEEN GOING ON WITH THE VEHICLE SINCE I BOUGHT IT IN 2010. I'VE BEEN GIVEN THE SAME ANSWER FROM MANY DEALERSHIPS AND AUTO ZONES WITH THEIR COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC READINGS. NOTHINGS WRONG WITH YOUR VEHICLE. I'M TIRED AND WANT OUT OF THIS THING. BREAKS WORK AND DON'T WORK TOO. TO ME ITS A LEMON I GOT STUCK WITH. *TR
THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS IS A COMPLAINT CONCERNING A VERY WELL KNOWN ISSUE (ONE FOR WHICH I HAVE READ MANY OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS) IN WHICH THE CARPET AND FLOOR MAT FOR THE DRIVERS COMPARTMENT OF MY JEEP COMMANDER ARE SATURATED AFTER A HARD RAIN AND I AM NOT GETTING ANY SOUND COMING OUT OF MY STEREO (LIKELY DUE TO A SHORT FROM THE WATER). THIS APPEARS TO BE DUE TO A PROBLEM WITH A CLOGGED DRAINAGE TUBE COMING FROM MY SUNROOF. I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS OTHER CARS WITH SUNROOFS AND HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED A SIMILAR PROBLEM. THIS WOULD APPEAR TO BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT ISSUE WHICH SHOULD BE ADDRESSED WITH A FULL RECALL FROM THE MANUFACTURER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND RESTARTED INDEPENDENTLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE REMEDY WAS UNAVAILABLE TO PERFORM THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
ALL FOUR DOOR HANDLES HAVE FALLEN APART, FIRST BY THE DOOR PANEL CRACKING AND GIVING WAY, THEN THE HANDLE ASSEMBLIES FELL TO PIECES OVER TIME. MY DAUGHTER RECENTLY CUT HER HAND TRYING TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE, AND THE ONLY WAY TO EXIT THE VEHICLE IS TO ROLL THE WINDOWS DOWN AND OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE HANDLES. IN MY PARTICULAR CASE, THE 2 REAR WINDOW MOTORS HAVE FAILED, SO THE REAR PASSENGERS ARE TRAPPED UNTIL SOMEONE UP FRONT LETS THEM OUT. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE FOR ALL PASSENGERS IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY REQUIRING A QUICK EXIT FROM THE VEHICLE. THE ENTIRE DOOR PANEL IS REQUIRED TO BE REPLACED IN ORDER TO FIX THIS ISSUE, QUOTES ARE ABOUT $600 PER PANEL. THIS SHOULD BE AN EXPENSE BORNE BY THE MANUFACTURER. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 07V434000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) AND 13V175000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM , POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
PRIOR TO 06-06-14 @115,616 MILES BEGAN NOTICING ISSUES WITH VEHICLE NOT STARTING. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS VEHICLE WOULD START. HOWEVER KNOWING THIS WAS A RE-OCCURRING ISSUE THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SERVICE DEPT. TO BE INSPECTED (DEALERSHIP OF PURCHASE AND ALL MAINTENANCE/REPAIRS PERFORMED AT SAME LOCATION). 23 POINT INSPECTION PREFORMED, STARTER WAS CHECKED OUT AND FOUND TO BE BAD. THE STARTER ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. 12-29-14 @ 121,251 MILES REGULAR MAINTENANCE PROGRAMED FOLLOWED (I.E.) LUBE, OIL AND FILTER. 23 POINT INSPECTION PREFORMED FOR THE 120,000 MILES SERVICE: REPLACED THE AIR FILTER AND PCV VALVE, FLUSHED THE COOLING SYSTEM, REPLACED REAR WIPER BLADES, REMOVED THROTTLE BODY AND CLEANED, INDUCTION SERVICE, REPLACED THE FRT CRANK SEAL, CLEANED AND REPLACED THE SERPT BELT. REPLACED THE FRT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS. 01-13-15 @ 121,854 MILES VEHICLE TAKEN TO SERVICE DEPT. DUE TO ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON AND FLASHING WHILE DRIVING TO WORK THE DAY BEFORE. VERY ALARMING SITUATION RELATED TO ENGINE LIGHT ON AND FLASHING, VEHICLE SEEMING TO HAVE POOR ACCELERATION AND NOT WANTING TO PICK UP ANY SPEED EVEN WHEN GAS PEDAL PRESSED. TESTED AND CHECKED, TRACED FOUND #3 INJECTOR, WIRING AND CONNECTOR "CHEWED UP". THE INJECTOR AND CONNECTOR ASSEMBLY WERE REPLACED. SYSTEM RETESTED. 05-11-15 @ 124,424 MILES PERFORM LUBE, OIL AND FILTER AT SERVICE DEPT. 06-29-15 @ 125,572 MILES VEHICLE'S ENGINE LIGHT ON. TAKEN TO SERVICE DEPARTMENT. 3 OR 4 CODES ON DIAGNOSTIC TEST. COULD BE ENGINE MISFIRE OR TRANSMISSION. CODES CLEARED TOLD TO BRING BACK IN IF ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AGAIN. NEXT DAY ENGINE LIGHT BACK ON AND VEHICLE BACK TO SERVICE DEPT..INJECTOR #4 BLEEDING:REPLACE INJECTOR, SPARK PLUGS AND PREFORMED INDUCTION SERVICE. "NOTHING YOU COULD HAVE DONE TO PREVENT IT HAS TO DO W/ SEALS INSIDE ENGINE." TEMP SENSOR IN TRANSMISSION REPLACED, TORQUE CONVERTER REPLACED.
FIRST ANNOYANCE WAS THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. IT FAILED TO OPEN THE DOOR AT AROUND 45,000 MILES. THEN THE REAR PASSENGER INSIDE DOOR HANDLE JUST CRUMBLED OUT OF NOWHERE AROUND 47,000 MILES. THEN AROUND 50,000 MILES THE BRAKES 'FELT DIFFERENT' WHEN BRAKING AND IT FELT TO HARD TO PRESS DOWN ON THE PEDAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE BRAKE PEDAL FELT HARD AS A ROCK THEN THE ABS WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND AFTER A DIAGNOSIS I WAS TOLD THAT IT HAD TO BE REPLACED. WHENEVER WE WENT THROUGH A PUDDLE OF WATER ON A TURN THE JEEPS STEERING WOULD LOCK UP AND JUST KEPT MOVING FORWARD & NOT TURNING.

CHRYSLER ISSUED A SAFETY RECALL P41 / NHTSA 14V-438 AND SENT NOTIFICATION IN JUNE OF 2014. 15 MONTHS HAVE PASSED AND I HAVE BEEN CALLING PERIODICALLY. I WAS INFORMED THE MANUFACTURER IS NOT YET MAKING THE PART. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE VEHICLE CAN INTERMITTENTLY SHUT DOWN DURING OPERATION. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE AND TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER FOR INVESTIGATION PRIOR TO RECEIVING THE RECALL NOTICE. TO HAVE SUCH AN ISSUE, NOTIFY OWNERS AND THEN NOT BE ABLE TO PROVIDE A RESOLUTION OR AN ANTICIPATED DATE IS UNACCEPTABLE.
RE: IGNITION SWITCH RECALL (P41): I AM NOW GOING ON 2 YEARS WITH A FAULTY IGINITION SWITCH THAT HAS BEEN RECALLED. WHEN I LAST CONTACTED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP (LARRY H MILLER JEEP, RIVERDALE, UTAH) I WAS INFORMED THEY DO HAVE THE PARTS FOR THE RECALL, BUT THEY "DO NOT HAVE THE SPECIFIC PART" FOR MY JEEP. HOW LONG IS IT REASONABLE TO WAIT FOR A RECALL TO BE DEALT WITH? I JUST WANT MY JEEP FIXED AND I GROW TIRED OF LARRY MILLER AUTO GROUP SENDING ME MAILINGS SAYING THEY WILL BUY BACK MY JEEP AND PUT ME IN A NEW CAR. HOW LONG MUST ONE WAIT FOR A RECALL TO BE FIXED?
MY JEEP HAD AN N23 RECALL PERFORMED AT PARK JEEP IN BURNSVILLE, MN. AFTER THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED, THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM LOW RANGE BECAME INOPERABLE. A MESSAGE APPEARS ON THE DASH: 'SERVICE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE'. I NOTIFIED THE DEALER ABOUT HIS ISSUE. THEY PERFORMED SOME REPROGRAMMING THAT THEY SAID WOULD FIX THE ISSUE. THIS REPROGRAMMING DID NOT WORK, AS THE ISSUE HAS RETURNED, AND MY FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM IS NOT OPERATING AS EXPECTED. I NOTIFIED JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND THEY HAVE NO SOLUTION FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE DEALER HAS NO SOLUTION FOR THIS PROBLEM. ABOUT 500,000 GRAND CHEROKEES AND COMMANDERS THAT HAVE THIS FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM ARE AFFECTED. NO ONE CAN GUARANTEE THAT IT WILL NOT AFFECT NORMAL OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE. AND NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THE SYSTEM CAN DO IN TRAFFIC ON IT'S OWN WITHOUT WARNING TO THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE. THE N23 RECALL PERFORMED BY MY JEEP DEALER HAS CREATED THIS PROBLEM, AND IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURER NOW. CHRYSLER/JEEP NEEDS TO PROVIDE A PROPER REPAIR SO THAT THE OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES CAN COUNT ON THEIR JEEPS TO PERFORM AS THEY WERE REPRESENTED TO PERFORM WHEN PURCHASED, AND WITH THE KNOWLEDGE THAT THE VEHICLE WILL PERFORM IN A SAFE MANNER WITH NO UNEXPECTED LIMITATIONS OR ACTIONS AS THEY ARE DRIVEN ON THE PUBLIC ROADS. I HIT THE KEY WITH MY KNEE AND THE CAR TURNED OFF. I WAS ON ROUTE 50 IN MARYLAND. LUCKILY I WAS GOING FAST ENOUGH, APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, TO PULL THE CAR OFF THE HIGHWAY TO A SAFE SPOT. AT FIRST I THOUGHT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE CAR. I WAS ABLE TO SEE THAT THE KEY, IN THE IGNITION HAD BEEN PUSHED TO THE OFF POSITION. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR WITHOUT ISSUE. I JUST LEARNED OF THE CONCERN AND I THOUGH IT IMPORTANT TO REPORT THIS. *TR
DRIVING NORTH FROM DETROIT WITH MY UNCLE,PASSING A SEMI ON I 75 AT ABOUT 70-75. THE ENGINE JUST QUIT,LIKESOME TURNED THE KEY OFF. GOT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD,PUT VEC. IN PARK STARTED BACK UP DROVE HOME. TOOK JEEP TO AL SERRA,S THE 29 TH GOT IT BACK 6/2/14 FOUND NO REASON WHY IT SHUT DOWN. JUNE 15 TH WHEN DRIVING ON BRISTOL ROAD AT 45 MPH IT QUIT AGAIN,TOOK IT BACK TO AL SERRA,S 2DAYS LATER GOT IT BACK,STILL COULDN'T FIND CAUSE. *TR
THE SPEED CONTROL ACCELERATED AND KICKED INTO OVERDRIVE. IT JUMPED FROM 65 TO 80 IN JUST A MATTER OF SECONDS. I HAD TO HIT THE BRAKE AND TURN OF THE SPEED CONTROL. IT NOW DOES IT ALL THE TIME WHEN THE CRUISE CONTROL IS ENGAGED. *TR
ALL THE LIGHT ON MY DASH BOARD HAVE BEEN FLICKERING ON AND OFF FOR THE PAST TWO MONTHS. IT DOES NOT SEEM TO AFFECT MY ENGINE HOWEVER IT WILL COMPLETELY TAKE ALL GAUGES TO ZERO WHILE I AM DRIVING. I DROVE IT LAST NIGHT AND WHEN IT HAPPENED IT KILLED MY ALL MY LIGHTS. I CAN HEAR A CLICKING SOUND WHEN THE FLICKERING HAPPENS. IT DOESN'T CLICK CONTINUOUSLY BUT ENOUGH TO MAKE ME VERY UNEASY. *TR
IN TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS DURING A FULL STOP AND SECOND TIME WILL REDUCING SPEED TO A STOP 2006 JEEP COMMANDER 5.7 HEMI ENGINE WILL STOP RUNNING AND LOOSE ALL ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE VEHICLE, POWER BRAKE WILL BECOME HARD AND ALSO THE STEERING. VEHICLE'S POWER WILL COME BACK UP AFTER SEVERAL TRIES IN THE IGNITION. *TR
ALL INTERIOR HANDLES ARE CRACKED OR BROKEN, SHOULD THERE BE AN ACCIDENT OR FIRE,THE OCCUPANTS MAY NOT BE ABLE TO EXIT THE CAR, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN MOST COMMANDERS. CHRYSLER IS WELL AWARE OF THIS , THEY SHOULD RECALL THE JEEPS AND CORRECT THE PROBLEM< BEFORE PEOPLE GET KILLED. *TR
THE CAR INTERMITTEDLY SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. DIAGNOSTICS LIGHTS FOR WHOLE DASHBOARD WILL COME ON. THE CAR SHUTS OFF AT LEAST 1 TO 2 TIMES PER MONTH.

DRIVING HOME FROM WORK YESTERDAY, WHEN MY STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY LOCKED AND TRUCK STARTED DYING, AND I ALMOST HIT A GUARD RAIL . TURNED THE ENGINE COMPLETELY OFF AND TRIED TO TURN THE ENGINE BACK ON, BUT MY TRUCK WOULD NOT START. HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO THE DEALER THAT DAY 04/25/2014. RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALER ON TODAY'S DATE 04/26/2014; TRUCK NEEDS A NEW TIPM MODULE. A NEW TIPM MODULE WAS JUST PUT IN MY TRUCK AT THE SAME DEALER A FEW DAYS SHORT OF A YEAR AGO (04/27/2013). PROBLEM IS SO COMMON WITH CHRYSLER THAT THE MODULE IS ON BACK ORDER (NATIONALLY). THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE AND IT IS SERIOUSLY DANGEROUS! THEY SAID THEY WERE WORKING ON GETTING THIS SOFTWARE TO A REPAIR SHOP HERE HOWEVER, AFTER I DIDN'T HEAR FROM THEM FOR SIX MONTHS I CALLED BACK AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULDN'T HELP ME AND I HAD TO TAKE MY JEEP TO THEM ON THE MAINLAND.
