WHILE DRIVING MY CAR IT SIMPLY CUT OFF - WENT DEAD. I HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD WITH NO POWER STEERING. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED WITH THIS VEHICLE. ONCE OFF THE ROAD - I AM ABLE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART. THIS HAPPENS FOR NO REASON. I HAVE HAD THE CAR IN THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO EXPLANATION WHAT IS HAPPENING. *TR
I WAS PULLING OUT OF A GAS STATION, WHEN MY COMMANDER STALLED. ITS THE SECOND TIME IN TWO MONTHS THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED. I LOOKED ONLINE AND FOUND THAT HUNDREDS OF COMMANDER OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WATER WAS LEAKING INTO THE VEHICLE. ALSO, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PCM NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 136,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND EVERY LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. UPDATED 10/3/12 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE 2006 V-8 MODELS WERE RECALLED, FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE ELECTRONICS WERE THE SAME IN BOTH VEHICLES, EVEN THOUGH HE IS A V-6. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICHLE IN AUG OF 2012 AND HAVE BEEN HAVING ELECTRICAL ISSUES THAT HAVE CAUSED MY VEHICHLE TO SHUT OF WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE ALSO HAD ISSUES WITH STARTING BECAUSE THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS FAILING.I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND THERE ARE ALREADY MANY COMPLAINTS ON THIS VEHICHLE WITH THE SAME ISSUES I'M HAVING. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS VEHICHLE AFTER SPENDING THE MONEY TO PURCHASE IT WITH 44,000 MILES ON IT AND HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT ISSUES WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, DASH LIGHTS, AND BATTERY. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BEFORE ENTERING THE VEHICLE, SHE NOTICED THAT THE WINDOWS WERE FOGGY AS IF MOISTURE HAD BEEN INSIDE. IN ADDITION, THE CARPET WAS FOUND TO BE WET AND PUDDLES OF WATER WERE INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE DRAINS NEEDED TO BE CLEANED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO A DEALER WHERE THE DRAINS WERE CLEANED AGAIN. THE FAILURE RECURRED OVER THE COURSE OF SEVERAL MONTHS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 95,821.
VEHICLE STALLED WHILE EXITING PARKING LOT. IT HAS STALLED A FEW TIMES PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT AND CONTINUES TO DO SO. THE DEALERSHIP COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS, WHO DETECTED THAT THE FAILURE WAS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR HANDLE FAILED. THE ENTIRE DOOR PANEL HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE REAR DOOR HANDLES ALSO FAILED BUT WAS NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DENIED ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
WHILE DRIVING AT APROX 45MPH, WITH NO WARNING MY JEEP STALLED OUT LEAVING ME WITH NO POWER ANYTHING. AFTER 5 MINUTES STARTED UP WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. TRIED TO GET IT TO MY HOME ABOUT 5 MINUTES AWAY STALLED AGAIN WITHOUT WARNING. DID MANAGE TO GET IT HOME THIS HOWEVER IS NOT THE ONLY TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED,STARTED HAPPENING IN MAY 2012 SAMETHING. HAD IT TOWED TO DEALER WHICH THEY CHARGED ME $234 TO FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT AND 11/2WEEKS WITH NO VEHICLE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS HOW AT ANY SPEED VEHICLE STALLS WITH NO WARNING!!!!! I SHOULD ADD I JUST HAD THE FLASH RECALL DONE ON THE VEHICLE FOR THE OTC MODULE ON 4/13/12. *JS

THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 08V203000 (POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM, PCM)). THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE TAKEN APART IN ORDER TO DETERMINE IF THE MANIFOLD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND FILED A COMPLAINT. JEEP COMMANDER 2006 COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN, STEERING LOCKED UP AND THE BRAKES LOCKED UP, WHILE GOING IN MOTION. COULD HAVE BEEN IN A FATAL ACCIDENT. HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE REACHING DESTINATION. DEALER STATED THAT THE CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC SHOP, WHO RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND STATED THAT THERE WAS A FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM AND THE EMISSION RELATED POWER TRAIN ELECTRONIC UNIT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 08V203000 (POWER TRAIN: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: CONTROL MODULE (TCM, PCM)). THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE PCV VALVE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. AFTER THE REPAIR, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR AND THE MAT SENSOR WERE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. IT RE-STARTED IMMEDIATELY AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP AND TURNING THE IGNITION OFF AND BACK ON.

WATER LEAK RIGHT SIDE A PILLAR WET FLOOR MAT ALSO WATER DRIPPING DOWN FROM FRONT OF THE SUNROOF AND BEHIND CONTROLS ON THE DASH STEREO SCREEN FLASHES ON AND OFF CANNOT READ SCREEN.
STARTED THE CAR AT THE HOUSE AND DROVE 1 MILE TO THE GAS STATION. SHUT THE CAR OFF TO FILL THE TANK. TRIED TO RESTART AND IT WOULD NOT START UNTIL I PUSHED THE GAS IN. WHEN IT STARTED SMOKE POURED OUT THE BACK. TOOK IT ACROSS THE STREET TO A MECHANIC AND THEY SAID THE ENGINE WAS TRASHED. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE JEEP DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT IT. THEY SAID THE SAME THING THAT THE MOTOR WAS TRASHED. I PAID THE DODGE DEALER TO TEAR DOWN THE ENGINE SO I COULD KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE VALVE IN THE 4TH CYLINDER HAD SLIPPED DOWN INTO THE MOTOR AND DESTROYED THE PISTON AND CYLINDER WALL. HAVE TO HAVE A NEW ENGINE INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE IS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER WITH THE 5.7 HEMI AND ONLY HAS 77,000 MILES ON IT AND FROM WHAT I HAVE RESEARCHED AND TALKING TO MECHANICS THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN. THIS PART SHOULD NOT FAIL IN THIS MANOR. HAVE GOTTEN NO RESPONSE FROM CHRYSLER AND AM TAKING ON THE COST OF THE REPAIR MYSELF. IF I WAS HARD ON THE MOTOR IT WOULD BE ONE THING BUT IT WAS ONLY DRIVEN TO WORK BY MY WIFE. WE ONLY PUT MAYBE 20,000 MILE ON IT SINCE WE BOUGHT IT. I AM AWARE THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED IN OTHER VEHICLES AND WHO KNOWS HOW MANY WERE REPAIRED BY CHRYSLER, UNDER WARRANTY. I WILL BE INTO THIS VEHICLE ABOUT 40,000 DOLLARS AFTER THE NEW ENGINE IS INSTALLED AND I THINK CHRYSLER BARES PART OF THE BLAME AND SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. ALSO, THE DOOR HANDLE ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WAS CRACKED AND BARELY FUNCTIONAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO OFFERED TO FILE A REPORT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 119,000.
ENGINE STALLING! HI, MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER WITH 71K ON IT HAS BEEN STALLING A LOT LATELY AND THE ENGINE LIGHT GOES ON. IT STARTS RIGHT AWAY BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON. I TOOK IT TO MY DEALERSHIP & THEY REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER, BUT LESS THAN 50 MILES LATER IT STALLED AGAIN. THIS HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAY WHERE I WOULD LOSE POWER AND FIND IT HARD TO CONTROL THE CAR. I KNOW THAT A LOT OF OWNERS COMPLAIN ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE AND THE DEALERSHIPS SEEM TO BE PUZZLED BY IT AS WELL. JEEP HAS TO FIND A SOLUTION TO THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS IN AN ACCIDENT. JEEP SHOULD ALSO COVER THE COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE SEVERAL SERVICE COSTS. I'VE SENT THE SAME TO JEEP/CHRYSLER CORPORATION AND HAVE YET TO HEAR FROM THEM. MY CAR IS CURRENT ON ALL RECALLS ISSUED SULFER. I SUGGEST THAT JEEP BE FORCED TO BUY BACK ALL THESE COMMANDERS AND SAVE THEMSELVES A BIG HEADACHE. *TR

THE VEHICLE THEN STALLED COMPLETELY. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WERE NOT SURE WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 109,000.
AS IN MANY PREVIOUS YEAR MODELS JEEP HAS ALLOWED ITS COMMANDER TO BE MANUFACTURED WITH INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES ATTACHED TO VERY THIN AND BRITTLE PLASTIC DOOR PANELS. THIS ALLOWS THE DOOR HANDLES TO BREAK LOOSE FROM THE PANELS AND MAKE THE HANDLE INOPERABLE. IN ORDER TO EXIT THE VEHICLE YOU HAVE TO OPEN THE WINDOW AND USE THE OUTSIDE HANDLE. THIS CONDITION OBVIOUSLY CAN PRESENT A VERY UNSAFE SITUATION ESPECIALLY IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION . IT HAPPENS TO ALL FOUR DOORS AS TIME GOES ON SO THAT IT BECOMES DANGEROUS NOT ONLY FOR THE DRIVER BUT ALL THE OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE. JEEP HAS NOT FOUND IT IN THEIR BEST INTEREST TO RECOGNIZE THIS OBVIOUS DEFECT THEREFORE YOU MUST GO THRU A LONG COMPLICATED PROCEDURE TO MAKE ANY TYPE OF CLAIM WITH NO GUARANTEE OF A RESOLUTION IN YOUR FAVOR. I WOULD SUGGEST THIS CONDITION BE DETERMINED A DANGER TO THE OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT OR DIES BECAUSE THEY CAN'T GET OUT THE DOOR. IN READING VARIOUS COMPLAINTS AT JEEP COMMANDER.COM THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF THE SAME SCENARIOS PLAYING OUT IN THE SAME MODELS THAT JEEP MANUFACTURES. PLEASE TRY AND HELP CORRECT A SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS OVERSITE IN THE DESIGN AND PRODUCTION OF THESE VEHICLES. THANK YOU *TR
MY JEEP COMMANDER DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEAT BELTS DO NOT LOCK INTO PLACE CORRECTLY. TO GET THEM TO LOCK YOU HAVE TO PRESS AND HOLD IN THE RED RELEASE BUTTON, THEN TO UNLOCK THE SEAT BELT YOU HAVE TO PRESS THE RED RELEASE BUTTON. NOW AS OF NOVEMBER 22, 2012 THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT IS HARD TO LOCK INTO PLACE EVEN WHEN PUSHING THE BUTTON.THE ALARM GOES OFF AS IF IT IS NOT ENGAGED AND THE LIGHT ON THE DASH LIGHTS UP AND CHIMES CONTINUOUSLY. I CALLED CHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403 ON NOVEMBER 26, 2012 AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE ARE NO RECALLS. I WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE IT IN AND PAY FOR A DIAGNOSTIC AND THEN CALL BACK AND MAYBE SOMETHING CAN BE DONE. SHE GAVE ME A REFERENCE NUMBER, BUT SAID THAT SHE IS STILL CLOSING THE CASE. WHEN THIS HAPPENED I LOOKED ONLINE AND FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD BE HANDLED PROPERLY BY CHRYSLER SINCE IT IS A DEFECT. I HARDLY EVEN DRIVE THIS CAR AND HAVE HAD OLDER CARS WHICH I DROVE MORE OFTEN THAT NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES. WITH THIS SAME VEHICLE I HAD TO DEAL WITH THE STALL ISSUES FOR SEVERAL MONTHS BEFORE IT WAS FIXED. EVERY TIME I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO HAVE IT HAPPEN WHILE THEY HAVE IT TO DIAGNOSE IT. I HAVE HAD A WRANGLER IN THE PAST TOO THAT HAD PROBLEMS. *TR
SECOND ROLL SEATBELT PLASTIC RED CASING AROUND THE RELEASE BUTTON BROKE FIRST ON PASSENGER SIDE REPLACED THAT ONE THEN ON DRIVERS SIDE THIS CAUSED SEATBELTS TO UNBUCKLE EASILY WITH A SLIGHT TUG OF BELT VERY DANGEROUS WITH SMALL CHILDREN. *TR

ON JUNE 25, 2012 WHILE DRIVING W/B ON I10 ON MY WAY TO A APPOINTMENT IN BALDWIN PARK, CA. MY HUSBAND ANALYZED THE CAR WITH A HAND HELD DEVICE WHICH GAVE HIM A MANUFACTURER CODE OF "U1411". HE DROVE ON SURFACE STREETS TO THE LOCAL DEALER SERVICE FOR DIAGNOSTIC, NO PROBLEMS WERE FOUND? EVERYTHING WAS FINE? DRIVING IT HOME THE ISSUE CONTINUED? MY HUSBAND REDIAGNOSED THE ISSUES AND IT SEEMS TO BE A "FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH" THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE CONTACT'S LEG WAS RESTED AGAINST THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WHEN SUDDENLY, THE INTERIOR PLASTIC DOOR HANDLE FRACTURED. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE DOOR HANDLE EXHIBITED THE IDENTICAL DEFECT. IN ORDER TO EXIT THE VEHICLE THE WINDOW MUST BE RELEASED DOWNWARD TO ACCESS THE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE TO ASSIST WITH THE OPENING OF THE DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT EACH DOOR PANEL WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN A NEIGHBORHOOD STREET AND RE-ADJUSTED MY SEATING POSITION. WHILE DRIVING, MY KNEE SLIGHTLY BUMPED THE KEY AND TURNED OFF MY CAR WHILE IT WAS IN DRIVE. THERE ARE REPORTS ALL OVER THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE WITH JEEP COMMANDERS. THIS NEEDS TO BE REVIEWED FOR RECALL AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE CHECK PARK ASSIST WARNING STARTED TO FLASH INTERMITTENTLY WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. WHEN THIS OCCURRED, ALL GEAR INDICATORS ON THE DASH WOULD LIGHT UP AT THE SAME TIME. THERE WAS INITIALLY NO OTHER INDICATION THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR. EVENTUALLY, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE DEALER DIAGNOSED IT AS NEEDING A NEW TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. THE SAME EVENTS OCCURRED WITHIN 2 WEEKS OF INSTALLING THE NEW MODULE. DEALER REPLACED IT AGAIN AND SAID THE PART WAS FAULTY. THE SAME EVENTS OCCURRED AGAIN WITH THE NEXT MONTH. DEALER WAS UNABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM AND RESET THE COMPUTER/WIPED THE ERROR. IT OCCURRED AGAIN AND PROGRESSED TO THE CAR LOOSING ACCELERATING POWER WHILE DRIVING AND/OR SHIFTING IN TO LOWER GEARS FOR NO REASON. NEW DEALER THIS TIME, SAYS THAT IT IS THE SHIFTING CONTROL MODULE. REVIEW OF THE ISSUE ON-LINE SHOWS A LONG HISTORY OF THIS PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH I AM FORTUNATE ENOUGH NOT TO HAVE IT HAPPEN WITHIN A FEW YEARS OF OWNERSHIP. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PASSENGERS WHEN THE CAR SHIFTS DOWN AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND/OR ACCIDENTS BECAUSE THE DRIVER NO LONGER HAS CONTROL OF ACCELERATION. *TR
