2 WEEKS AGO PURCHASED A 2007 JEEP COMPASS. SOME RATTLING UNDER NEATH WHEN DRIVING SO TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC. THEY HAD IT HOISTED UP AND FOUND A MINOR ISSUE. BUT THE MECHANIC POINTED OUT THE FRONT CROSSMEMBER/SUBFRAME WAS RUSTED OUT. HE SAID IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. LOOKED ONLINE AND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH JEEP COMPASS AND PATRIOTS FROM 2007 AND ON. I WAS QUOTED $1600 FOR REPLACEMENT. I CALLED CHRYSLER/JEEP HEADQUARTERS AND SAID THEY WERE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED!!!!! I TOLD THEM IT SHOULD BE COVERED NO MATTER WHAT BECAUSE THEY USED CHEAP AND WEAK STEEL WHICH CORRODES FASTER IN NORTHERN CLIMATES DUE TO SALT USE ON ROADS AND IT IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE!. THE ENGINE COULD FALL OUT, THE SUSPENSION COULD GIVE OUT WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THEY KEPT REPEATING "PAST EXTENDED WARRANTY". MY 1997 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE JUST DIED 2 WEEKS AGO AND I NEVER HAD FRAME ISSUES WITH IT. I LOVED MY GRAND CHEROKEE, IT WAS WELL BUILT AND LASTED FOR 21 YEARS! I AM SO DISAPPOINTED WITH CHRYSLER JEEP RIGHT NOW. THEY WENT FROM BUILDING QUALITY PRODUCTS TO CHEAP AND EXPENSIVE. THEY KEPT REPEATING "PAST WARRANTY"

WHEN THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AUTONATION TOYOTA FORT MYERS (2555 COLONIAL BLVD, FORT MYERS, FL 33907, (239) 321-5413) FOR ENGINE REPAIRS, HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE REAR SUSPENSION CROSSMEMBER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO CORROSION. THE CROSSMEMBER WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. *TR
THE SUSPENSION ON THE 2007 JEEP COMPASS FEELS DANGEROUS. REPLACED STRUTS AND HAD OTHER SUSPENSION WORK DONE, YET VEHICLE WOBBLES LEFT TO RIGHT WHEN HITTING BUMPS. FEELS LIKE IT IS SKIDDING ACROSS THE ROAD. NOTICABLE AT LOW SPEEDS FEELS UNSAFE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
I PURCHASED VEHICLE IN FEB 2018 FOR MY THEN 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. LAST COUPLE OF REFUELS, VEHICLE WILL STALL OUT AFTER LEAVING GAS STATION. SHE LOOSES POWER, STEERING & BRAKING ABILITY WHEN THIS OCCURS. VEHICLE WILL START BACK UP DRIVE ALONG A WHILE THEN STALL OUT AGAIN. THIS HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES THEN WILL OPERATE NORMALLY TILL NEXT FILL-UP.
AFTER FILLING THE TANK WITH GAS, THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF AFTER ABOUT 1/8 OF A MILE. IT WILL JUST STALL OUT AND LOSE STEERING AND LIGHTS.
THERE'S A FUEL ISSUE, AS YOU TOP OFF THE GAS DRIVE IT A HALF A MILE THE CAR JERKS AND SHUTS OFF STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP, AFTER A FEW TIMES OF IT HAPPENING AFTER FUELING THE CAR UP. ITS DANGEROUS AND A SAFETY ISSUE. LOOKED IT UP AND A BUNCH OF PEOPLE WITH MY MODEL HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND IT HAS TO DUE WITH FUEL GETTING IN THE EVAP CHAMBER WHICH REQUIRES A FULL TANK REPLACEMENT REPORTED FROM MULTIPLE OWNERS OF MY MODEL. WHICH IS AN EMISSIONS AND SAFETY ISSUE. ITS IN MOTION LESS THAN A MILE AFTER FUELING COMPLETELY WHEN IT JERKS THEN STALLS.
ENGINE STALLS AFTER REFILLING GAS TO "FULL" TANK. IT HAPPENS AFTER TANK REFILL ONLY. IT HAPPENS WITHIN A QUARTER MILE OF THE GAS STATION. TODAY IT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS IN TRAFFIC. I SEARCHED THIS ISSUE ONLINE AND THERE MULTIPLE REPORTS OF THE SAME ISSUE FOR COMPASSES AND PATRIOTS. I DON'T THINK THERE IS A DEPENDENCY ON SPEED. IT IS MORE LIKELY THE TIME AFTER REFILLING AND STARTING ENGINE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR SUBFRAME ASSEMBLY WAS RUSTED, WHICH CAUSED THE REAR WHEELS TO BEND. THE CONTACT CALLED PROGRESSIVE CHEVROLET AT 330-879-3697 (LOCATED AT 8000 HILLS AND DALES RD NW, MASSILLON, OH 44646) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 98,000.
THE VEHICLE FAILED INSPECTION LAST WEEK DUE TO X58 FRONT/REAR CROSSMEMBER BEING COMPLETELY RUSTED AND IN DANGEROUS CONDITION. APPARENTLY THIS WAS UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE THIS HAS BEEN A SERIOUS ISSUE. I WAS NOT AWARE OF THE PROBLEM NOR THE WARRANTY AND NOW I'M STUCK WITH A CAR THAT IS NOT DRIVABLE.
FUEL TANK--JEEP DEALER SAYS MY ENTIRE FUEL TANK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE TANK ONLY ALLOWS A TINY AMOUNT OF FUEL TO GO IN WHEN PUMPING GAS. THIS IS MY FIRST TIME BEING A JEEP OWNER AND IT SEEMS RIDICULOUS TO HAVE TO REPLACE SUCH A MAJOR PART.
BROUGHT MY VEHICLE IN FOR WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A BAD BALL JOINT ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE. I WAS TOLD MY SUBFRAME IS COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT IN THAT SPOT. IT'S SO BAD THAT THE MECHANIC ISN'T SURE HE CAN ACTUALLY FIX IT. I FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS SO COMMON THAT CHRYSLER EXTENDED WARRANTIES FOR EVERYONE, BUT DIDN'T OFFER A RECALL. NOT ONLY THAT, BUT THEY ONLY OFFERED THIS FOR A SET TIME OF 120 MONTHS. YOU WOULD THINK THEY WOULD HAVE NOTIFIED PEOPLE OF THIS SO THEY COULD HAVE IT REPAIRED. INSTEAD, THOSE OF US WHO HAPPEN TO HAVE AN INCIDENT AFTER THE TIME FRAME ARE NOW OUT OF LUCK AND OUT OF A LOT OF MONEY TO (HOPEFULLY) REPAIR THE PROBLEM. DISAPPOINTING TO SAY THE VERY LEAST.
DURING VEHICLE INSPECTION THE REAR CROSS MEMBER WAS FOUND TO HAVE RUSTED THROUGH. THE FRONT CROSS MEMBER HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND WAS REPLACED IN 2016 UNDER A CAMPAIGN THROUGH JEEP. NOT A RECALL THOUGH. NOW TWO YEARS LATER THE REAR HAS THE SAME PROBLEM BUT IT IS NOT COVERED BECAUSE IT HAD A TEN YEAR EXPIRATION FROM DATE OF MANUFACTURE. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT FROM JEEP AND SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD A TIME LIMIT PLACED ON IT. THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED AND REPLACED. JEEP KNOWS THEY ARE DEFECTIVE ITS JUST A MATTER OF TIME.
HAD A LOT OF BANGING NOISES OVER BUMPS. AFTER AN INSPECTION UNDER CAR, FOUND FRONT & REAR SUB FRAMES ROTTED OUT. ALSO REAR WHEEL BEARINGS BAD, BROKEN ABS TONE RINGS. REAR SUSPENSION LINKS SEIZED TO REAR SUB FRAME. I ALSO HAD TO REPLACE FRONT STRUTS & SWAY BAR BUSHINGS. (VERY POOR FOR A 10 YEAR OLD CAR)
PARKING BRAKE DOESN'T WORK AND THE STABILITY OF THE VEHICLE IS NOT GOOD IT WOBBLES AROUND TURNS AND I'M AFRAID THE VEHICLE WILL ROLL ONE DAY. THIS UNSTABLE CONDITION WILL HAPPEN ON THE CITY HIGHWAY AND CITY STREETS WHILE IN MOTION DRIVING. I PUT ON THE PARKING BRAKE AND IT DOES NOT STOP THE VEHICLE BECAUSE I CAN DRIVE IF I FORGOT I PUT IT ON WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS AND I'LL HEAR THE BEEPING GO OFF AND PUT MY PARKING BRAKE ON. I FEEL AS IF ONE DAY TO SCHOOL MY VEHICLE WILL ROCK UNSTABLE AND CAUSE ME TO WRECK EVEN THOUGH I AM VERY CAREFUL.
CAR STALLS AFTER FILLING UP GAS TANK...APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND IS HAPPENING TO MY DAUGHTERS CAR AND SHE WAS ALMOST IN A BAD ACCIDENT DUE TO THE CAR STALLING WHEN PULLING OUT OF A WAWA GAS STATION. THERE IS APPARENTLY A NEED TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK DUE TO A VAPOR LOCK ISSUE WHICH CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF AND IS HAPPENING IN MORE THEN ONE TYPE OF THEIR VEHICLES... THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT IF NOT RECALLED AND THE COMPANY IS HELD ACCOUNTABLE WILL LEAD TO DEATH.
I BOUGHT THIS CAR FOR MY DAUGHTER USED AND THE FUEL MILEAGE WAS POOR. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR TO MULTIPLE SHOPS AND EVEN A DODGE DEALER WHO DID NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM CORRECTLY. I FOUND A NEW GARAGE THAT WAS VERY HONEST AND THEY FOUND THAT THE VALVE INSIDE THE GAS TANK THAT CONTROLS WHERE THE FUEL GETS TRANSFERRED TO WAS FAULTY. THIS CAUSED GAS TO BE SENT TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND VAPORS TO BE SENT TO THE ENGINE CAUSING THE CAR TO STALL WITHIN A 1/8 A 1/2 OF A MILE AFTER FILLING THE TANK. THE CAR WOULD BASICALLY SHUT DOWN AND STALL OUT CAUSING CONTROL ISSUES. THIS ALSO CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE CONVERTERS AND ALSO THE COAL FILTER ON THE GAS TANK. IT HAS TAKEN MANY DEALERS TO FIND ONE THAT COULD DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND AFTER ABOUT $3000 IN REPAIRS IT IS FINALLY BEING FIXED. THIS FAULT IN THE VALVE COULD CAUSE A FIRE WITH HEAT IN THE CONVERTER AND IS VERY DANGEROUS. I HAVE SEEN A LOT OF INFORMATION ONLINE WITH OTHER DODGE COMPASS CUSTOMERS HAVING THIS PROBLEM AND THE ONLY WAY TO FIX IT, IS TO REPLACE THE GAS TANK. THE OTHER OPTION IS TO NEVER FILL UP YOUR GAS TANK. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN THAT I BELIEVE SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO.
I RECENTLY TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A LOCAL SHOP BECAUSE OF LOUD CLUNKING NOISES. THEY STATED THAT THE REAR SUSPENSION IS TOTALLY ROTTED OUT AND THE CLUNKING WAS BASICALLY THINGS SHIFTING AROUND UNDERNEATH. HE TOLD ME IT WAS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE AND SAID IT IS NOT SAFE TO BE ON THE ROAD. HE ALSO STATED THE FRONT IS ROTTED AS WELL.
I BOUGHT THE JEEP COMPASS AROUND JULY OR AUG. NO SOONER THEN I BOUGHT IT IT WOULD JERK WHEN I WOULD TAKE OFF. THEN MY RPMS WOULD REV UP. LILE ITS NOT SHIFTING THE RIFHT WAY. ALSO MY JEEP HAS A HARD TIME GOING UP HILL. I DON'T FEEL LIKE MY JEEP IS SAFE AND IT SCARES ME. ALSO MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON TODAY.
REAR DRIVER SIDE SUSPENSION RUSTED AWAY FROM FRAME. SUB FRAME EXTREMELY RUSTED NEEDS REPLACED PER JEEP DEALER CAR WANDERS NOW AND ROLLOVER FEAR. CONTACTED FIAT CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE. DENY ISSUE IS THERE'S SINCE OUT OF WARRANTY. INTERNAL MEMO ALLOWED FIXING OF ISSUE UNTIL FEB 21, 2017. BUT SINCE I WAS UNAWARE THERE WAS A SAFETY ISSUE UNTIL FAILURE HAPPENED APPRX MID AUGUST 2018.
I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE AND PUT $423 INTO THE FRONT END REPLACING ROTORS, BRAKES, WHEEL BEARINGS, HUB ASSEMBLY AND CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS ONLY TO TAKE IT TO A GARAGE TO FIND OUT WHY IT WAS STILL IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE SAFELY. I WAS TOLD BY TWO DIFFERENT GARAGES THAT IT ISN'T SAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE THE STRUTS AND WHOLE FRONT END IS DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR THAT WOULD COST MORE THAN THE VEHICLE IS WORTH. ALSO THE CAR DEALERSHIP HAS REMOVED THE AIRBAGS AND NOW MADE IT NONSTICKERABLE. YOU CAN'T DRIVE IT WITHOUT THE VEHICLE FEELING LIKE THE FRONT END IS GONNA FALL OUT AND IS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE STEERING.
STARTED HEARING A LOT OF NOISES IN THE FRONT END, TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC. HE SAID THE FRONT CROSS MEMBER WAS RUSTED IN 2, WHICH WAS CAUSING EVERYTHING TO ROCK. NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. HE SAID THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM FOR A LONG TIME WITH CHRYSLER PRODUCTS.
I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE A LITTLE OVER A YEAR NOW, BOTH FRONT TURN SIGNAL LIGHT COVERS HAVE FALLEN OFF EXPOSING THE TURN SIGNAL LIGHT FIXTURES. BOTH FELL OFF WITH IN A MONTH APART.
RE:FRONT FRAME CROSSMEMBER. THESE PARTS WERE INSPECTED AS OK IN 2014 BY DEALER PER THE CHRYSLER WARRANTY EXTENSION LETTER ABOUT FRAME ROT. IN JULY 2018 ROT AND DETERIORATION DISCOVERED BY OWNER THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN THERE PRIOR TO THE WARRANTY EXTENSION EXPIRATION IN JULY 2017. THE WARRANTY EXTENSION PERIOD WAS TOO SHORT AND CHRYSLER SHOULD HAVE HAD THE VEHICLES RE-INSPECTED FOR DETERIORATION THROUGHOUT THE WARRANTY PERIOD. I AM WANTING A FAIR RESOLUTION TO A NOW DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH MY VEHICLE.
TODAY WHILE LEAVING A DRIVE THRU MY CAR STALLED AND THEN WENT BACK TO NORMAL, I PULLED INTO A PARKING SPACE 20 SECONDS AFTER LEAVING THE DRIVE THRU WINDOW AND PUT MY FOOT ON THE BREAK. ABOUT 5 SECONDS AFTER THAT MY CAR HAD JUST DIED. I PUT IT IN PARK, AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND IT STARTED UP WITH NO ISSUES AND I DROVE HOME WITH NO ISSUES (ABOUT 20 MILES FROM MY HOME). THIS HOWEVER IS NOT THE FIRST TIE BUT THE THIRD TIME IN LESS THEN A MONTH OF OWNING IT. THE FIRST TWO TIMES HAPPENED AFTER I FILLED MY CAR UP COMPLETELY WITH FUEL. TODAY MY CAR WAS BETWEEN ONE QUARTER AND HALF TANK. I HAD NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ON EITHER. THE CAR SEEMS TO ACTUALLY DIE WHENEVER I AM AT A COMPLETE STOP.
THE UNDERNEATHETH IS ROTTED AND THERE WAS A SECRET RECALL! BECAUSE AS A OWNER OF A JEEP I EVER GOT A LETTER AND IF YOU LOOK ONLINE ALMOST EVERYONE WITH THIS YEAR JEEP HAS THE SAME PROBLEM
REPLACED FRONT TIE RODS, SWAY BAR LINKS AND PASSENGER SIDE CONTROL ARM 1 YEAR AGO. NOTICED LOTS OF NOISE AND VIBRATION COMING FROM UNDER THE FRONT OF THE CAR. BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER WAS TOLD IT NEEDED DRIVER SIDE CONTROL ARM AND REAR CONTROL ARMS BUT THE CROSS MEMBER AND SUB FRAME WERE SO RUSTED OUT HE TOLD ME THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD STILL BE UNSAFE TO DRIVE EVEN WITH NEW PARTS. THE COST OF REPLACING THE CROSS MEMBER AND SUB FRAME WOULD MORE THAN EXCEED THE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE
I EXPERIENCED A TIRE BLOWOUT ON I-70 WHILE TRAVELING AT 60MPH. FORTUNATELY, NO CARS WERE AROUND AT THE TIME OR IT COULD HAVE KILLED ME OR CAUSED SERIOUS HARM TO MY CAR OR ANOTHER. I HAVE BEEN STRUGGLING WITH TIRE ISSUES FOR SOME TIME, BUT THEY COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHY. I HAVE HAD A PREVIOUS BLOWOUT AS A RESULT OF THE INSIDE EDGES OF THE TIRES WEARING OUT TOO QUICKLY. AFTER HAVING MY CAR TOWED TO A TIRE SHOP DURING THIS INCIDENT, THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE REAR SUBFRAME IS RUSTED THROUGH AND CAUSING THE TIRES TO WEAR ON THE INSIDE EDGES. THEY STATED THE FRAME WILL NEED TO BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED BEFORE AN ALIGNMENT CAN EVEN BE MADE. THEY RECOMMENDED I GET IT REPAIRED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE SINCE IT IS UNSAFE. . THEY ALSO TOLD ME TO CHECK WITH JEEP ON RECALLS. I HAVE CALLED JEEP THREE TIMES NOW. THEY STATED THEY WERE AWARE OF AN ISSUE AND THEY HAD EXTENDED A WARRANTY ON IT BUT I WAS OUT OF THAT WARRANTY WHICH EXPIRED LAST YEAR. THEY ORIGINALLY SAID THAT IT IS POSSIBLE THEY WOULD FIX IT OUT OF WARRANTY, BUT I WOULD NEED TO GET AN APPOINTMENT AND FOLLOW UP WITH THEM. I CALLED THEM BACK AFTER THE LOCAL SHOP REFUSED TO HELP ME. THEY STATED THAT I HAD TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST DONE. I TOLD THEM I WAS UNHAPPY WITH THIS SINCE I DIDN'T FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS AND DRIVE AN UNSAFE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHICH IS NOT CLOSE TO ME. THEY THEN INFORMED ME THAT THEY ARE ACTUALLY NOT GOING TO HELP ME AT ALL BECAUSE THE WARRANTY IS EXPIRED. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AND I HAVE FOUND DOZENS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE. PLEASE TELL ME WHY THIS IS NOT A RECALL. I COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN KILLED BY THIS ISSUE. I HAVE HAD NEAR MISSED FROM BLOWOUTS TWICE NOW, WHICH I NOW KNOW WERE A RESULT OF THIS. FURTHERMORE, THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR AND BUYERS DJOUKD BE MADE AWARE BEFORE PURCHASE. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL WITH ALL EXPENSES COVERED. I AM REALLY UPSET THAT IT IS NOT.
FILLED GAS TANK. AFTERWARDS ENGINE STALLED IN TRAFFIC.
WHILE COMING TO A STOP, AT A LIGHT IN HEAVY RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, UPON APPLYING THE BRAKES FELT SHARP JERK IN STEERING WITH A LOUD SNAP NOISE. NOT KNOWING WHAT IT WAS WHEN LIGHT CHANGED AND I PROCEEDED FORWARD APROX. 2-3FT WHEN CAR CAME TO A SUDDEN STOP JERKING TO THE LEFT. IMMEADIATELY PLACED CAR IN PARK AND LOOKED OUT DRIVER SIDE WINDOW TO SEE FRONT LEFT WHEEL ANGLED BACK APROX 35 DEGREES AND JAMED INTO FENDER WELL. CALLED TOW COMPANY AND POLICE ARRIVED TO DIRECT AND DIVERT TRAFFIC, NO POLICE REPORT MADE BY POLICE BECAUSE NO INJURIES OR OTHER VEHICLES INVOLVED. TOW TRUCK DRIVER & POLICE BOTH STATED I WAS FORTUNATE, BECAUSE HAD I BEEN GOING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN IT HAPPEND IT COULD BEEN VERY SERIOUS AND/OR FATAL TO NOT ONLY ME BUT OTHERS AS WELL. CAR TOWED TO NEAREST REPAIR SHOP WERE IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT SUBFRAME ASSEMBLY HAD ACTUALLY RUSTED/ROTTED THROUGH ON LEFT FRONT END OF VEHICLE AND BROKE WITH EVERYTHING ATTACHED TO IT (STEERING LINKAGE, LEFT AXLE, TIE ROD, ETC.) COMING LOOSE. RESEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND THERE HAND BEEN A SERVICE BULLETIN 23-012-14 ISSUED FOR FRONT AND REAR CROSSMEMBER CORROSION AND LOOKING AT OTHER FORUMS (IE MYJEEPCOMPASS.COM) AND SAFECAR.GOV AS WELL. CONTACTED JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE GIVEN CASE #34535927.HAD TO PAY TO HAVE CAR TOWED AGAIN, THIS TIME TO A JEEP DEALER TO INSPECT AND CONFIRM SUBFRAME FAILED. WHEN I ASKED WHY THERE WASN'T A RECALL INSTEAD OF JUST A SERVICE BULLETIN THAT NOBODY SEES EXCEPT THE DEALER I COULD NOT GET A STRAIGHT ANSWER. JEEP DID AGREE TO COVER CROSSMEMBER REPLACEMENT AFTER CONFIRMED, BUT NOT TO PAY FOR THE PARTS THAT WERE DAMAGED FROM THE FAILURE OF THE CROSSMEMBER WHICH CAME TO $844.81 I HAD TO PAY. I THINK THAT WOULD BE A SMALL PRICE FOR THEM TO PAY IN LIGHT OF WHAT THE COST COULD AND WOULD HAVE BEEN TO THEM FOR SERIOUS INJURIES AND/OR FATALITY RELATED TO THEIR KNOWN DEFECT. NOW I GET STUCK PAYING FOR THEIR DEFECT.
CAR STALLS AFTER FILLING TANK EVERY TIME. RUNS ROUGH THEN STALLS AND POWER STEERING CUTS OUT, LOCKS UP ON THE ROAD. WHEN RESTARTED IT STALLS AGAIN SEVERAL TIMES. VERY DANGEROUS ON THE HIGHWAY IN A HEAVY TRAFFIC.
THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN PROBLEM A LOT ( WHEN I GOOGLED IT ). THIS IS 100% GOING TO GET SOMEONE HURT OR MULTIPLE HURT !!! THE FRONT CROSS MEMBER AND FRONT SUB FRAME IS TOTALLY RUSTED OUT TO THE THE POINT OF AFFECTING ( STEERING AND STABILITY ) !!! WHAT ARE YOU GUYS WAITING FOR ???????? SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT WITH THIS SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE !!!!!!!!!!!
"TAKATA RECALL" EVERY TIME I HAVE TO DRIVE MY 2007 JEEP COMPASS I AM SCARED FOR MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF MY CHILDREN. I HAVE HAD THE WHOLE CONTROL ARM AND TIE RODS REPLACED IN MY JEEP JUST A FEW MONTHS AGO DUE TO VERY LOUD SQUEEKING IN THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE, IT MAKES THE SOUND WHEN DRIVING SLOW OR FAST, ANY TINY MOVEMENT SUCH AS GETTING IN AND OUT OF THE VEHICLE WHILE NOT RUNNING MAKES THE LOUDEST SQUEAKING SOUND! ITS LIKE NAILS ON A CHALKBOARD! I ALREADY HAVE TO TAKE IT BACK IN DUE TO THE SAME SOUND THE FIX LASTED ABOUT 2 WEEKS! THERE IS SOMETHING MAJORLY WRONG WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL!

OUR 2007 JEEP COMPASS HAS BEEN STALLING COMPLETELY (ENGINE SHUTS OFF) SHORTLY AFTER WE FILL UP THE GAS TANK. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR AROUND ONE YEAR. IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING OR STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, LESS THAN A MILE FROM THE GAS STATION, USUALLY WITHIN A FEW MINUTES OF PUMPING THE GAS. WE FEAR FILLING UP THE TANK TO THE TOP BECAUSE THE CAR HAS STALLED IN LANES OF TRAFFIC. IN THE BETTER CASES, IT STALLS AT A RED LIGHT. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION. WE WERE ENCOURAGED TO FILE THIS REPORT AFTER CORRESPONDING ONLINE WITH OTHER JEEP OWNERS WHO EXPERIENCED THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE.
CAR STALLS AFTER REFUELING. PROBLEM BEGINS A FEW MINUTES AFTER FILLING THE TANK. I HAVE TO SIT AT THE GAS STATION AND TRY KEEPING IT RUNNING BEFORE LEAVING, IT IS NOT SAFE IN TRAFFIC. IT ONLY DOES IT AFTER REFUELING. I AM TOLD I NEED TO REPLACE THE GAS TANK TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THEY TELL ME GAS IS GOING BACK INTO THE CHARCOAL CANISTER MESSING WITH THE COMPUTER. A BAD VALVE IN THE GAS TANK, REQUIRING THE ENTIRE GAS TANK TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE BEEN DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE AND FINDING A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE IT IS NOT JUST A JEEP COMPASS ISSUE.

HAPPENS AFTER 90-95% OF FUEL FILLUPS. HAS BEEN HAPPINING FOR A FEW MONTHS NOW, HAVE NOTICED IN INTERNET FORUMS THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO OTHER DRIVERS AS WELL OF THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE WHILE DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SEIZED WHILE TRAVELING AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED AND THAT THE CHECK ENGINE AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS WERE CONSTANTLY ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL SINCE OWNING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DARCARS CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF MARLOW HEIGHTS (5060 AUTH WAY, CAMP SPRINGS, MD 20746) WHERE THEY INFORMED HER THAT IT WAS BEST TO DISPOSE OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE EXTENSIVE DAMAGE THAT NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT LINKED HER FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V234000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT THEN FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
MY 17 YEAR OLD SON WAS DRIVING HOME FROM SCHOOL. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE FRONT END OF HIS JEEP COMPASS PULLED LEFT AND WAS VERY HARD TO STEER AND GRINDING VERY LOUD. THE FRONT LEFT TIRE WAS POINTING OUT AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS OFF CENTER. I TOOK IT TO THE GARAGE AND THE MAIN CROSS MEMBER RUSTED THROUGH AND BROKE. I CONTACTED JEEP AND THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS AN EXTENDED 10 YEAR WARRANTY ON THIS PARTS DUE TO THE SAME ISSUES. HOWEVER, THE 10 YEAR WARRANTY RAN OUT IN JULY 2016. IF THEY KNOW THAT THERE ARE ISSUES AND ALREADY EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR 10 YEARS; WHY DON'T THEY MAKE IT RIGHT ON ALL THE VEHICLES.
WHEN YOU FEEL THE VEHICLE THE VEHICLE WILL CUT OUT AND STOPPED IN TRAFFIC AFTER READING ON SEVERAL WEB SITES THIS IS NOT A ISOLATED INCIDENT THIS IS A MAJORITY INCIDENT. IT ONLY HAPPENS AFTER YOU FILL THE TANK FULL IT WILL STOP WITH NO WARNING AND MESA FOR 10 TO 15 SECONDS BEFORE IT'LL RESTART AGAIN. IF THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS SOMEBODY'S GOING TO GET KILLED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS 4X4. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD, THE TRACTION INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR SUBFRAME WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CALLED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 105,000.
CAR STALLS AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK.
WHEN I FILL UP THE GAS TANK ON MY 2007 JEEP COMPASS IT STALLS SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE NEXT FEW MILES. I'VE READ THE BLOGS ON THE WEB AND IT APPEARS TO BE A FAILURE OF THE FUEL TANK ROLLOVER VAVLE. THE ONLY FIX APPARENTLY IS TO REPLACE THE GAS TANK AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $1,2000. I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR FOR MY 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND IT HAS STOPPED ON HER IN TRAFFIC TWICE AFTER FILLING UP THE TANK. LUCKILY SHE ESCAPED BEING HIT BY AN ONCOMING CAR. THIS IS SO WRONG! THIS IS A DEFECT AND A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ESTABLISHED TO FIX THIS ISSUE.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.

I SEARCHED ONLINE AND IT TURNED OUT THAT MANY JEEP/CHRYSLER OWNERS HAVE THIS ISSUE AND THERE WAS A RECALL FOR JEEP COMPASS 2011/2012 FOR THIS ISSUE BUT OTHER MODELS.
