THE AIRBAG SENOR LIGHT KEPT POPPING ON AND OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY A WEEK OR TWO. THE DEALERSHIP REPORTED THE FRONT PASSENGER IMPACT SENSOR AND OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE NEEDED REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN A CRASH AS OF LATE NOR ANY DAMAGE AND HAS BEEN IN PERFECT WORKING ORDER UNTIL THIS INCIDENT OF THE AIRBAG LIGHT.
THE CADILLAC CONVERTER WENT BAD
"TAKATA RECALL" THROTTLE BODY SENSORS. MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING MY JEEP AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE JEEP SLOWED DOWN AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND SHE BARELY HAD ENOUGH TIME TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF A 2 LANE HIGHWAY. SHE BARELY HAD CELL PHONE SIGNAL TO CALL ME TO TELL ME SHE WAS STRANDED. SHE WAS IN A DEAD ZONE BY AIR FORCE BASE AND WAS GOING ABOUT 45MPH DURING HEAVY TRAFFIC HOUR. I'M GLAD SHE WAS UNDERSTOOD SOMETHING WAS WRONG AND QUICKLY PUT ON HAZARD LIGHTS, PULL OVER, AND SHUT OFF THE JEEP. SHE MENTIONED A LIGHTING BOLT LIGHT ON BUT DIDN'T FEEL THE JEEP WAS OVER HEATING. THE BEGINNING OF 2019 I HAD A RECALL FOR THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER EFFICIENCY WHICH I DID GET FIXED AND ABOUT 4 MONTHS LATER (5SEP19) I PURCHASED A NEW THROTTLE BODY SENSOR AND THE LABOR WORK TURNED OUT TO $800. WHY WOULD THIS NOT BE PART OF THE WARRANTY OR RECALL OR IS THIS A CONTINUING ISSUE FOR OTHER JEEPS?
CAR COMEPLETELY SHUT DOWN, AND WENT LIMP WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH ON HIGHWAY. CAR WOULD NOT GO OVER 10 MPH, POWER STEERING FAILED, AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING.VERY DANGEROUS AS CAR SHUTS OFF WITHOUT WARNING AT HIGH SPEEDS. POWER STEERING CAME BACK ON AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS NO LONGER FLASHING. HAD IT TOWED; UPON ARRIVAL, CAR TURNED BACK ON AGAIN WITH NO ISSUES OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. CHECK ENGINE CAME BACK ON LATER IN THE DAY. THIS SEEMS TO BE A RECURRING ISSUE. MECHANIC WAS UNSURE IF IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH A SENSOR OR CRANKSHAFT ISSUE.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE LEFT FOOTREST SUPPORT BROKE OFF AND BECAME LOOSE UNDERFOOT WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY. IT BECAME LODGED UNDER THE BRAKE PEDAL AND I COULD NOT DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL. EVENTUALLY WAS ABLE TO USE MY FOOT TO CLEAR IT AWAY AND STOP.
FAULTY OR DEFECTIVE CAMSHAFT/CRANKSHAFT SENSORS SHUTTING DOWN OR STALLING THE VEHICLE WHILE IN OPERATION AND MOTION, WITHOUT WARNING. DRIVING, UP TO 70MPH, IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON A BUSY HIGHWAY, VEHICLE ENGINE STALLS AND RESULTS IN LOSS OF POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKES AND FORWARD MOMENTUM. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE DRIVER IS THRUST INTO A VERY DANGEROUS (AND POSSIBLY DEADLY) POSITION OF TRYING TO MANUALLY (W/O POWER) STEER AND/OR BRAKE THE VEHICLE AT HIGH RATES OF SPEED IN FAST AND DENSE TRAFFIC.
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT THIS JEEP HAS NOT LET ME ACCELERATE IN HWY TRAFFIC. OVER 40 MPH AND THEN JUST DIES ON ME.. THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEAT LIGHT COMES ON AND I CANT DRIVE BECAUSE IT DIES SHORTLY AFTER THAT.. I THINKING THERE IS POSSIBLE AN UPCOMING VEHICLE RECALL FOR TRANSMISSION.. IT IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP WHICH THE FIRST TIME NOTHING WAS FOUND FOR THE SAME PROBLEM
I GET A NO BUS THE HOW DASH LIGHTS UP NOTHING WORKS WHEN NO BUS SHOWS UP. I CANT GIVE A TURN SIGNAL I DON'T KNOW HOW FAST IM GOING. NOTHING WORKS WHEN NO BUS IS READING ON THE DASHBOARD.
THE TRANSMISSION FLUID DIPSTICK BROKE OFF OF MY VEHICLE. IT IS A DEFECTIVE PART OF THE JEEP THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED AND THE COMPANY SHOULD REPLACE THESE ENGINE ISSUES WHICH HAS CAUSED AN OPENING INTO MY TRANSMISSION FLUID, WHICH CAN ALLOW UNWANTED DEBRIS/RAINWATER TO ENTER THE TRANSMISSION AND DESTROY IT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HOLDEN JEEP CHRYSLER (640 S GOVERNORS AVE, DOVER, DE 19904) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A DEFECTIVE EVAPORATIVE SYSTEM INTEGRITY MODULE THAT NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW FUEL TANK WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,392.
ON LONG TRIPS (OVER 3 HOURS) IN THE SUMMER, THE TRANSMISSION GETS HOT AND ELECTRONICALLY LIMITS THE SPEED TO 30 MILES PER HOUR. YOU CAN STAND ON THE GAS PEDAL AND ONLY THE RPM'S WILL INCREASE. THE CAR MUST SIT AND COOL DOWN BEFORE YOU CAN CONTINUE YOUR TRIP. I HAD MY CAR TOWED IMMEDIATELY TO A JEEP DEALER THAT WAS CLOSE TO WHERE I WAS STRANDED. THEY DID FULL DIAGNOSTICS ON IT AND KEPT IT FOR 3 DAYS AND COULD NOT FIND ANY EVIDENCE OF THIS ISSUE. THEY TOLD ME NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR WHEN CLEARLY THERE IS AN ISSUE.
WHILE DRIVING 50MHP ON HIGHWAY CAR WOULDN'T GO WHEN PRESSING ON GAS PULLED OVER JUST IN TIME BEFORE IT TURNED OFF BY ITSELF. WOULDN'T START AFTER TRYING A COUPLE OF TIMES WAITED 5 MINUTES THEN STARTED
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP COMPASS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH OVER RAILROAD TRACKS, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED AND WOULD NOT RESPOND WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE REACHED 6,000 RPMS. THE VEHICLE BECAME STRANDED ON THE RAILROAD TRACKS. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS POWERED OFF AND RESTARTED, IT RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION; HOWEVER, THE CHECK ENGINE AND ANOTHER UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATOR WERE ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TURLOCK CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (1600 AUTO MALL DR, TURLOCK, CA 95380, 209-250-5800) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000. *TR
WHILE DRIVING, CARS ENGINE SHUT OFF. I WOULD TRY TO START IT, SOMETIMES IT WOULD START BACK UP AGAIN I WOULD DRIVE IT AND THEN THE ENGINE WOULD SHUT OFF AND SLOWLY STOP MOVING. CAR WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THE ENGINE CODE P0335 AND P0339 CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR MALFUNCTION/INTERMITTENT. WITHIN THE SAME WEEK OF HAVING IT REPLACED, NOW I'M HAVING ISSUES FILLING THE TANK WITH GAS. GAS PUMP STOPS FILLING EVERY 0.2 GALLONS AND CLICKS. TRIED MOVING THE GAS PUMP IN DIFFERENT POSITIONS BUT STILL WON'T FILL. GAS ENDS UP BUBBLING AND OVERFLOWS EVEN THOUGH THE TANK IS ONLY AT A QUARTER TANK. LOOKS LIKE THIS IS VERY COMMON WITH JEEP COMPASSES. IT'S EITHER THE FUEL TANK TRANSFER TUBE OR NEED TO GET THE WHOLE GAS TANK REPLACED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP COMPASS. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE AND THE TRANSMISSION WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND THEN DROVE TO ALL STAR DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (11503 ST CHARLES ROCK RD, BRIDGETON, MO 63044, (314) 291-2050). THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN AN UNKNOWN RECALL REGARDING THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TWICE AFTERWARDS. DURING THE RECENT FAILURE, WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE ENGINE FAILED AGAIN. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO CENTURY DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (13500 VETERANS MEMORIAL PKWY, WENTZVILLE, MO 63385, (636) 332-2800), BUT IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 132,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP COMPASS. WHILE ADDING FUEL TO THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL PUMP WOULD CONTINUE TO CLICK OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PORT JEFFERSON JEEP (RT 347, PORT JEFFERSON, NY) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TRANSFER LINE AND FUEL TANK WERE FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
VEHICLE SPONTANEOUSLY CAUGHT FIRE IN DRIVEWAY.*DT CONTACT STATED THE INSPECTOR WHO INSPECTED THE JEEP SAID FIRE WAS DUE TO ELECTRICAL ISSUES.*JB
I PUT GASOLINE 1DOLLAR AND STOP LIKE FUELING BUT NO REAL .. FUEL TANK TRANSFER TUBE MAY CAUSE STALL
MY 2012 JEEP COMPASS HAS A DETERIORATING CATALYTIC CONVERTER PAIRED WITH AN ISSUE WITH THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. THE CAR HAS HAD DECREASED GAS MILEAGE, PERFORMANCE, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON & CONTINUAL RATTLING NOISES.
I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO AND ABOUT ONE MONTH INTO THE PURCHASE, THE ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN STEADY ON AND OFF FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS. WE HAVE BROUGHT IT TO A DEALER, WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE PASS INSPECTIONS, ONCE THE CAR IS RESET THE ENGINE LIGHT GOES OFF. THE CODE THAT HAS CONSISTENTLY COME UP IS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, WHICH WE WERE TOLD NUMEROUS OCCASIONS THAT IT'S JUST A GLITCH. NOW, THE LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF AFTER A RESET AND ARE BEING TOLD THAT WE NEED TO REPLACE THE WHOLE CATALYTIC CONVERTER (WHICH I CAN NOT AFFORD) AND DON'T EVEN KNOW IF IT'S A TRUE ISSUE BEING SINCE THE ENGINE LIGHT CONSTANTLY BEING ON SINCE THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE AND NOW WON'T GO OFF AT ALL. I'M WONDERING WHY THIS CAR/VIN HASN'T SHOWED UP ON THE RECALL LIST WITH THE OTHERS WITH THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER RECALLS!!!????
TROUBLE PUTTING GAS IN JEEP, PUMP CUTS OFF AND WE HAVE TO KEEP RESTARTING IT
UPON DOING A TOTAL FILL UP OUR JEEP, IT IS NOW STALLING AND I END UP WITH NO STEERING. THIS DOES IT AT LEAST 4/5 TIMES EACH TIME WE FILL FUEL TANK UP. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS UNABLE TO STEER AND ENTIRE ENGINE SHUTS DONE. THIS HAS DONE THIS WITH MY FAMILY IN THE CAR ABOUT A MINUTE AFTER GETTING FUEL, IF NOT LESS, AND TURNING ONTO A BUSY STREET WHERE JEEP STOPPED RUNNING. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THIS HAPPENED, BOTH TURNING ONTO BUSY STREET AND WHILST DRIVING ON BUSY STREET.
TWO HOURS INTO HIGHWAY DRIVING, TRANSMISSION OVERHEATED AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ABOVE 40 MPH. TOOK THE NEAREST EXIT AND COOLED DOWN AND MADE THE REST OF THE TRIP WITHOUT PROBLEM.
WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CAR WOULD SHUT OFF AND LOST CONTROL OF STEERING AND BRAKES. COMPONENT ENDED UP BEING A CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. CAR DID NOT THROW ANY CODES FOR APPROX 4 MONTHS TO HELP DETERMINE THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO BE RECREATED EASILY. EVENTUALLY A CODE SHOWING A FAILED COMPUTER AND FAILING TRANSMISSION CAME UP. FURTHER RESEARCH SUGGESTED REPLACING THIS COMPONENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP COMPASS. WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER AND THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 106,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP COMPASS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL CONDITION IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WITH THE SUSPENSION BEING UNSTABLE. THE DEALER CHRYSLER AUTO MART (101 PIKE ST, MARIETTA, OH 45750, (740) 373-7639) WAS NOTIFIED BUT HAD NOT BEEN AUTHORIZED YET TO DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR THE VEHICLE. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE DRIVE SHAFT AND REAR END FRACTURED INTO THE BEARINGS. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT A DEALER MAY NEED TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM BECAUSE REPLACING THE BEARINGS MAY ONLY BE AN INTERIM FIX. THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF THE DEALER MAY BE ABLE TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM IF THE SAME OEM DRIVE SHAFT HAD BEEN REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE TO DETERMINE THE TECHNICAL GUIDELINES TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
THE VEHICLE JERKS ON ACCELERATION OR LOSES POWER AND THE ENGINE BUCKS AND SPUTTERS WHILE IN MOTION. WHEN ROLLING UP WINDOWS WHILE STATIONARY THE LIGHTS DIM OR ENGINE SPUTTERS. THIS HAS HAPPENED OFF AND ON FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS. ONLY RECENTLY HAS IS SCARED ME BECAUSE I WAS ABOUT TO PULL OUT INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP IN CHANTILLY, VA THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY ENGINE. MY PASSENGER SEATBELT GETS STUCK AFTER BEING ENGAGED. I HAD IT REPLACED IN FALL 2012 AT A DEALERSHIP IN WOODBRIDGE, VA. I STILL HAVE THIS ISSUE AND THE NEW DEALERSHIP WILL NOT REPLACE IT BECAUSE IT ALREADY WAS IN 2012.
WHEN AT HIGHWAY SPEED DURING HOT WEATHER AND A/C ON THE TRANSMISSION OVER TEMP LIGHT COMES ON AND CAR STARTS TO SLOW DOWN. I PULL OFF THE PAVEMENT TO ALLOW THE TRANNY TO COOL. TRUCKS AND CARS JAM TO THE LEFT LANE TO OBEY THE LAW. CARS JAMB UP AND SOMETIME A TIRE SQUEAL HAPPENS. I TALK TO JEEP AND THEY SAY BECAUSE THAT CONDITION IS DESCRIBED IN THE MANUAL IT DOES NOT WARRANT A FIX BY THE ADDED WARRANTY COMPANY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. AND MY SAFETY NEXT TO THE STALLED CAR IS DANGEROUS. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES, ALWAYS WHEN DRIVING DURING HOT WEATHER ON HIGHWAYS.
WHILE DRIVING MY JEEP IT JUST STALLED ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CITY ROAD WITH NO WARNING AT ALL THE CAR DOESN'T TURN OFF IT JUST WON'T DRIVE ANYMORE WHEN I PUSH ON THE GAS PEDAL SO I JUST PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURN THE CAR OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON AND IT DRIVES IT DOES THIS A LOT TO ME WHILE I AM DRIVING IT.
MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER WAS RETURNING HOME FROM WORK ON A BUSY CITY STREET WHEN SHE WAS STARTLED BY A LOUD ABRUPT NOISE. SHE LOOKED OVER AND SAW THE PASSENGER-SIDE ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT HEADREST HAD SHOT OUT. QUITE SHAKEN, SHE ARRIVED HOME TO TELL ME SOMETHING HAD HAPPENED IN THE CAR. UPON EXAMINATION OF THE HEADREST, IT WAS CLEAR THAT IT HAD NOT 'DEPLOYED' OR 'TRIGGERED.' THE CLAMPS THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO RELEASE THE BAR WHEN DEPLOYING WERE STILL IN PLACE, HOLDING THE BAR. INSTEAD, THE PLASTIC THAT HOLDS THE BAR IN PLACE HAD BROKEN, ALLOWING THE HEADREST TO VIOLENTLY SHOOT OUT. FORTUNATELY, NO ONE WAS IN THAT SEAT AT THE TIME. AND EVEN MORE FORTUNATELY, IT DID NOT HAPPEN ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WHILE MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING, AS THE RESULTS COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. I CALLED THE JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER, THINKING THAT THEY WOULD HELP REMEDY THE SITUATION AND WANT TO KNOW THAT THIS CAN HAPPENED. TO MY DISMAY, THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY WOULD DO. I WAS TOLD TO TAKE IT TO THE NEAREST JEEP DEALERSHIP AND PAY TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. NATURALLY, I WAS STUNNED AT THEIR INDIFFERENCE TO SUCH A SERIOUS FLAW IN THEIR VEHICLE. A WRITTEN MESSAGE TO JEEP WAS NEVER RESPONDED TO. I CALLED A JEEP DEALERSHIP, BUT THEY TOLD ME TO CALL JEEP. CLEARLY WHAT HAPPENED TO THE HEADREST SHOULD NOT HAVE. IT SEEMS THERE IS A FLAW IN THE DESIGN THAT ALLOWED THIS HAPPEN. I ONLY HOPE JEEP TAKES RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS PROBLEM AND ADDRESSES IT BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED'OR WORSE.
VEHICLE STALLS OUT AFTER ACCELERATING 25 MPH
AFTER I PUMPED GAS INTO THE CAR, AS SOON AS I EXITED THE GAS STATION AND ENTERED ON THE STREET THE CAR ENGINE GOES OFF, NO POWER STEERING, NO ACCELERATION. I PULL OVER TO THE RIGHT AND PUT THE CAR ON PARK AND RESTART THE CAR. IT WAS OK. I WAS HESISTANT TO GET ON THE FREEWAY SO I DROVE TO A EMPTY LOT TO SEE IF IT HAPPEN AGAIN AND SURE ENOUGH AS SOON AS I TRAVEL A FEW YARDS, THE ENGINE GOES OFF AGAIN. SCARY IF IT HAPPENS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY WITH LOTS OF TRAFFIC.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. JAMES SERENITY GREENVILLE (3064 US-82, GREENVILLE, MS 38703, (662) 332-7231) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDIES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
FUEL SYSTEM RELAY: THE FUEL SYSTEM RELAY WITHIN THE TIPM BECAME CORRODED AND THE CAR WILL NO LONGER START. HAD TO GET IT TOWED TO THE DEALER AND FACING A $500 REPAIR CHARGE NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT TO USE. THIS IS THE EXACT SAME ISSUE SEVERAL OTHER COMPASS DRIVERS ARE FACING. CHRYSLER DID NOT INCLUDE THIS VEHICLE IN THEIR RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE (ONLY CHEROKEE'S AND DODGE DURANGO'S WERE INCLUDED).

AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC INSPECTED AND DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000. *TT *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY JEEP ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENGINE STALLED. NO WARNING. NO OTHER ISSUES. I TRIED TO RESTART AND MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL {ETC} LIGHT CAME ON. THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER, BUT KEPT TRYING TO START UNTIL I TURNED KEYS TO OFF. I WAITED 10 MINUTES AND TRIED IT AGAIN. IT STARTED, HOWEVER THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME WITHOUT ANOTHER INCIDENT.
FIRST MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON AND I STARTED TO LOSE POWER. I BROUGHT THE CAR INTO A DEALERSHIP TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG, THEY SAID IT WAS A 4TH CYLINDER MISFIRE (THIS CAR IS A 2012 JEEP COMPASS, ONLY 84,000 MILES), SO THEY REPLACED THE ENGINE BLOCK. THEY HAND ME THE CAR BACK, I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM OF NO POWER. NOW THEY ARE CLAIMING A SENSOR IS FAILING IN THE TRANSMISSION AND I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE TO TUBE COMPARTMENT OF THE TRANSMISSION. NOT SURE THE EXACT SENSOR THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT THOUGH.
2012 JEEP COMPASS CHECK BALL ISSUE I HAVE A 2012 JEEP COMPASS WITH 59,000 MILES ON IT. DURING A FUEL STOP TWO WEEKS AGO, I DISCOVERED THE NOZZLE WOULD SHUT OFF AFTER FUELING FOR A FEW SECONDS. TO ENSURE IT WASN'T THE NOZZLE AT THE FUEL PUMP, I TRIED 3 OTHER PUMPS AT DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS. SO, I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET A DIAGNOSIS. THE MECHANIC SAID THE CHECK BALL VALVE IN THE FUEL TANK IS STUCK AND THE ONLY WAY TO HAVE THIS ISSUE REPAIRED IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUEL TANK. THE TOTAL COST WITH THE NEW FUEL TANK AND LABOR WILL BE $1,600. JUST TO HAVE A SECOND OPINION, I TOOK IT TO A WELL RESPECTED LOCAL MECHANIC IN MY TOWN AND HE TOLD ME THE SAME THING. I KNOW THE SMALLER JEEPS, LIKE THE COMPASS, HAVE HAD FUEL TANK RECALLS IN THE PAST BECAUSE OF VENTILATION ISSUES AND THE ROLL OVER VALVES. THERE WERE A LOT OF PEOPLE ON JEEP FORUMS COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS. SOME FOLKS WERE ELIGIBLE FOR RECALLS AND SOME WERE NOT. THE OTHER FUEL TANK ISSUE I READ ABOUT WAS THE ISSUE I AM HAVING WITH THE CHECK BALL BEING STUCK AND HAVING TO PAY FOR A NEW FUEL TANK. PERSONALLY, I THINK IT IS RIDICULOUS AND I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE, THAT A PERSON HAS TO PAY TO HAVE AN ENTIRE NEW FUEL TANK INSTALLED BECAUSE A COMPANY IS MANUFACTURING VEHICLES WITH DEFECTIVE FUEL TANKS. SO, WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I DRIVE A HUNDRED MILES AND THE NEW FUEL TANK CHECK BALL GETS STUCK? DO I HAVE TO GO BACK TO THE MECHANIC, PAY $1,600 AND HAVE THIS PERSON INSTALL A NEW TANK EVERY TIME THE CHECK BALL GETS STUCK? IT'S SENSELESS THAT THE CONSUMER HAS TO WORRY ABOUT A VEHICLE'S UNRELIABILITY BECAUSE OF A MANUFACTURER'S FLAW AND THE COMPANY NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I CALLED JEEP CORPORATE AND THEY SAID THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING TO HELP ME. I WANTED TO LET THE NHTSA KNOW THAT THE FCA CAR COMPANY IS CONTINUING TO SEND FLAWED PRODUCTS OUT THE DOORS OF THEIR FACTORIES AND IGNORING THE ISSUE.
THE TRANSMISSION DIPSTICK TUBE IS BROKEN IN IN 5 YEARS WITH LESS THAN 42000 MILES! NO ONE TOUCH IT, JUST TODAY AFTERNOON, AFTER I FILLED THE GAS, I FOUND SOMETHING STRETCH OUT IN THE FRONT UNDER THE COVER, I LOOK CLOSELY, A TUBE! I OPEN THE COVER, AND FOUND THE TRANSMISSION TUBE HAS BEEN BROKEN SOMETIME! NO ONE HAS TOUGH INSIDE, AND THERE IS NO ACCIDENT IN MY CAR. THE JEEP COMPASS DESIGN MUST HAVE DEFECT, I SEARCH ONLINE, MANY PEOPLE HAVE SAME PROBLEM! ALSO, COULD NOT PULL UP THE WINDOWS, BUT COULD PULL DOWN THE WINDOW, THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM HAS DEFECTS.
MANY OF THESE VEHICLES HAVE A PROBLEM WITH A ROLL OVER VALVE, RECALL NHTSA 12V14200, THE TANK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. MY VEHICLE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. IT DOES NOT ALLOW ME TO PUMP GAS PROPERLY DUE TO A DAMAGED ROLLOVER VALVE AS STATED BY MY MECHANIC. HOWEVER, MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN TE RECALL. IT SHOULD BE INCLUDED AND I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. FILES CAN BE UPLOADED BY REQUEST. RESEARCHED THE INTERNET AND MANY OTHER JEEP COMPASS VEHICLES HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.

VEHICLE STARTED MAKING A THUMPING NOISE IN REAR END AND STARTED TO GET WORSE. IT ALSO HAD A HIGH PITCH WHINING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR END. I HAD JUST REPLACED THE REAR BARRING SO I DIDN'T THINK IT WAS THOSE THAT HAD STARTED TO GO BAD WITHIN 3 MONTHS OF REPLACING THEM. I TOOK IT TO GET LOOKED AT AND THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THE WHOLE REAR END WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED BEFORE IT SNAPPED IN HALF WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THE CRADLE ARMS AND EVERYTHING THAT WAS ATTACHED TO IT WAS RUSTED, PITTED AND CRUMBLING IN HIS HANDS. THE FRAME WAS RUSTED COMPLETELY THROUGH. HE TOLD ME I WAS LUCKY I DIDN'T HIT A POT HOLE BECAUSE THAT IS ABOUT ALL IT WOULD HAVE TAKEN TO BREAK IT. THE HUBS AND BARRINGS WERE ALSO RUINED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AFTER INSTALLING THEM LESS THAN A YEAR AGO.
TRANSMISSION TEMP LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR LOST SPEED AND MADE FUNNY WHINING NOISE. WE HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND WAIT TILL LIGHT WENT OFF. IT WAS A WARM DAY, ABOUT 94 DEGREES AND DRIVING IN WY. SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN IN KS ON A WARM DAY. THE AC WAS BEING USED. I'VE SEEN MAY REPORTS OF THIS HAPPENING TO OTHER CARS WITH THE CVT. I WANT JEEP TO REPLACE THE TYRANNY.

IT IS NOT JUST JEEP WRANGLERS WITH DEFECTIVE TIPMS. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE MINE REPLACED TWICE IN THE LAST 18 MONTHS AND 32000 MILES. SINCE I DRIVE MY VEHICLE FOR WORK AS A MAIL CARRIER THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM FOR ME. IT HAS STRANDED ME BOTH TIMES IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY HIGHWAY.
