UNKNOWN. Saw there was recall in past for rear piston but mine was not affected. But I’m having issues with the brakes. When slowing down or coming to stop when using the brake, the whole car shakes and rattles.
While driving with my wife and 3 kids the car automatically braked by itself. Lucky to be able to report this. The NTHSA doesn’t have any current recalls on my VIN. It should now this model vehicle could be causing future accidents or deaths. Hope this gets some attention asap.
While driving the emergency brake self engages causing the Jeep to come to a sudden stop.
While driving on a busy road the car could not accelerate and the emergency brake turned on by itself causing the car to stop abruptly. This has happen 2 times in 1 week.
Two issues to report. Both common and known to happen. Causing safety issues. The 1st. Wheel speed sensors either come loose or disconnected. This turns off AbS , dynamic steering and hill descent. Could be very dangerous is rainy or icy conditions. The 2nd. The Jeep radio unit starts to go out and then dies. Dealers know about the issue but have no idea how to fix other than make the consumer pay for a replacement if out of warranty. When the head unit goes out, the driver looses the ability to use the rear view camera while reversing, could be potentially deadly for kids behind a vehicle. Both issues are widely known on Jeep Compass 2nd generations and above. Just like the engines consume oil, Jeep knows about the wheel speed issue and radio issue.
ON N/B I5 BETWEEN ALBANY AND SALEM OREGON, TRAVELING WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 73MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN ABRUPTLY BRAKING ON IT'S OWN. IN A MATTER OF SECONDS THE VEHICLE WENT FROM 73MPH TO APPROXIMATELY 45MPH, AND HARD/FAST ENOUGH TO LOCK THE SEAT BELT. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY, TURNED BACK ON/OFF AGAIN, AND DRIVEN TO THE DESTINATION WITHOUT ISSUES. LUCKILY THE INCIDENT HAPPENED AT ABOUT 430AM AND THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC. HAD THERE BEEN TRAFFIC A COLLISION WOULD'VE BEEN IMMINENT AND UNAVOIDABLE.
I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, LGHT TURNED GREEN AND WENT TO PRESS THE GAS TO GO THRU THE LIGHT BUT CAR STALLED AND BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. CAR BEHIND ME ALMOST RAN INTO ME AND HAD TO SWERVE TO MISS ME. I HAD TO TURN THE ENTIRE CAR OFF AT THE LIGHT, PUSH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE SYSTEM A FEW TIMES UNTIL TGE LIGHT WENT OFF BEFORE I COULD PROCEED THROUGH THE LIGHT. THIS HAPPENED 6-7 ADDITIONAL TIMES BEFORE I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALORSHIP SERVICED THE CAR 1 WEEK PRIOR AND SAID NOTING WAS FOUND ON THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST. CAR HAS STOPPED, JUST QUIT WHILE DRIVING AND BRAKING SYSTEM LIGHT COMES ON. IT HAPPENS WHEN PARKED AND AT A RED LIGHT OR TRYING TO MOVE FORWARD OR WHILE DRIVING. VERY SCARY.
WHEN DRIVING 30 MPH MY E-BRAKE ENGAGED BY ITSELF CAUSING BRAKE TO LOCK UP AND JEEP TO TURN OFF. JEEP MECHANIC CANNOT FIND CODE OR ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT!
THE JEEP SAT FOR FOUR TO FIVE WEEKS DURING THE COVID-19 SHUT DOWN. IN APRIL WE STARTED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITH ONLY 10,870 MILES ON IT AND DISCOVERED SERIOUS PULSATING WHEN BRAKING IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND DANGEROUS VIBRATION IN THE BRAKING ALTOGETHER. LIVONIA CHRYSLER JEEP SERVICE PERSON DROVE THE JEEP AND DETERMINED WARPED ROTORS.WOULD NOT REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY. CAR SITS MONTH AFTER MONTH UNABLE TO DRIVE WHILE PAYING LEASE PAYMENTS ON THE CAR.TOOK THE CAR TO SNETHCAMP TODAY 10-12-20 FOR AN APPOINTMENT SET UP BY KRIS IN JEEP CUSTOMER CARE. DEALERSHIP WILL NOT LOOK AT THE JEEP UNLESS I AGREE TO A $65.00 INSPECTION FEE. I REFUSE TO PAY ANYTHING FOR A DEFECTIVE LEASE VEHICLE REPAIR. THE JEEP IS STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP AND SO FAR NO RESOLUTION THROUGH CUSTOMER CARE AT FCA HAS OCCURRED. NO ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES OCCURRED BEFORE THE VEHICLE SAT FOR APPROX. 4 WEEKS. WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD WARPED ROTORS DUE TO NON USE OF THE VEHICLE BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PERSON LEASING THE VEHICLE WITH ONLY 10,870 MILE ON IT?SO FAR I HAVE MADE 7 PAYMENTS AND INSURANCE COSTS PER MONTH ON A VEHICLE FOR 7 MONTHS THAT CANNOT BE DRIVEN DUE TO INFERIOR MANUFACTURER PARTS. HELP!!!!
THE VEHICLE AT ANY KNOWN TIME GOES INTO THE PARKING BRAKE MODE AND STALLS! THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE PROBLEM AND TWICE WE WERE ADVISED TO CHANGE THE OIL? STARTING ABOUT 4-5 MONTHS AGO, WHEN COMING TO A STOP OR TAKING OFF FROM A STOP (COULD BE A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN) THE PARKING BRAKE WOULD ACTIVATE ON ITS OWN, MAKING THE CAR STALL. SOMETIMES I CAN MAKE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD OTHER TIMES IT STOPS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THIS WOULD OCCUR ABOUT ONCE A MONTH RANGING FROM 5MPH TO 15MPH. STARTED AT ABOUT 34K MILES. TAKES ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES TO GET PARKING BRAKE TO GO OFF AND GET THE CAR RUNNING AGAIN. NOW JUST OVER 50K MILES IT HAS OCCURRED 3 TIMES IN THE PAST WEEK. FIRST TIME WAS TURNING LEFT AT A MAJOR INTERSECTION, PARKING BRAKE ACTIVATED MID TURN AND THE CAR STALLED, LUCKILY WAS ABLE TO ROLL TO THE OTHER SIDE AND MADE IT TO THE SHOULDER. THEN IT HAPPENED THE NEXT DAY COMING UP TO A MAJOR INTERSECTION AS I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO COME TO A STOP. PARKING BRAKE ACTIVATED, CAR STALLED, GOT A TRANSMISSION WARNING THEN A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I WAS STALLED AT THE LIGHT FOR APPROX. 5 MINUTES BEFORE GETTING THE PARKING BRAKE TO TURN OFF AND THE CAR TO START. IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE DEALER (CRESTVIEW FL DOGE JEEP RAM) AND WAS ADVISED TO BRING IT IN. DROPPED THE CAR OFF THAT EVENING. WAS ADVISED THE NEXT DAY MY OIL LEVEL WAS LOW AND THIS CAUSED EVERYTHING TO HAPPEN, BUT THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PARKING BRAKE ACTIVATING ON ITS OWN. ADVISED TO BRING BACK IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN. OCCURRED AGAIN DRIVING DOWN A SIDE ROAD AT ABOUT 20MPH 3 DAYS AFTER BEING AT THE DEALERSHIP. CAR IS SET TO GO BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW. HAVE ALSO FILED A COMPLAINT WITH JEEP, CURRENTLY WAITING FOR A RESPONSE. I'M SCARED FOR MY FAMILY/MYSELF/OTHERS ARE GOING TO BE SERIOUSLY INJURED WHEN THIS OCCURS AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED. THIS IS MY DAILY DRIVING VEHICLE AND I DRIVE ABOUT 30 MILES ONE WAY TO WORK ON MAJOR HIGHWAYS.
FIRST OFF. I HAVE A 2018 JEEP COMPASS THAT'S I GOT A FEW WEEKS AGO AND I'M NOTICING NOW THAT MY BRAKES ARE ALREADY TERRIBLY GRINDING, THE ENGINE GETS WAY TOO HOT EVEN THOUGH THE INDICATOR IS ALWAYS NEUTRAL AND NEVER MOVES EVER. ALSO THE MPG IS ABSOLUTE CRAP AND I THINK IT HAS TO DO WITH THE ENGINE SYSTEM ITSELF CAUSING PROBLEMS. I LOST 45 MILES ACCORDING TO THE INDICATOR AND REALLY ONLY WENT 12 MILES BACK FROM WORK. THAT SHOULDN'T BE RIGHT.

THIS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING IN BUSY INTERSECTIONS. IT ALSO OCCURRED WHEN THE CAR GOT TOWED BACK TO DEALERSHIP.

UPON FIRST STOP OF DAY-ONLY ON FIRST STOP, THE BRAKES STOP VEHICLE EXTREMELY HARD, IF NOT WEARING SEAT BELT-YOU WOULD IMPACT WINDSHIELD. AFTER TRAVELING FOR 10MIN BRAKES WORK CORRECTLY, THIS HAS BEEN GETTING WORSE - VEHICLE IS AT DEALER NOW AND HAS BEEN FOR TWO WEEKS-WITH NO CORRECTIVE ACTION YET.

A WHITE SUBSTANCE ENTERED THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE WHEN THE CRASH OCCURRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED WHIPLASH, UPPER AND LOWER BACK PAINS, AND SHOULDER AND NECK PAINS. MEDICAL TREATMENT WAS RECEIVED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V523000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC), BUT THE CONTACT DID NOT RECEIVE A NOTIFICATION. THE DEALER (MOSS BROTHERS CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM, 1100 S E ST, SAN BERNARDINO, CA 92408, (909) 884-8255) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE CRASH AND STATED THAT THEY DID NOT INSPECT COLLISION DAMAGES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE INSURANCE COMPANY WAS NOTIFIED OF THE CRASH AND HAD NOT YET DIAGNOSED THE COLLISION DAMAGES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SECOND DEALER (VICTORVILLE MOTORS, 14617 CIVIC DR, VICTORVILLE, CA 92394, (760) 733-8484) FOR OVER A MONTH WHILE WAITING FOR A RESPONSE FROM THE MANUFACTURER TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER RESPONDED BY EMAIL, WHICH INDICATED THAT THEY WOULD SEND A TECHNICIAN TO THE DEALER TO INSPECT AND DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED.
