DOOR ACTUATOR, OVERHEATING, TRANSMISSIONS SLIPPAGE (OR NOT WANTING TO SHIFT AT TIMES), TAIL LIGHTS, COOLING, HEATING (OR LACK OF). *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE POLICE PULLED THE CONTACT OVER BECAUSE THE VEHICLE'S BRAKES LIGHTS WERE NOT OPERATING. THE REAR CONNECTION WAS PREVIOUSLY TIGHTENED, BUT THE FAILURE STILL PERSISTS. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 113,000.
THE GAUGES ON THE DASH - SPEEDOMETER-GAS-OIL-HEAT, ETC. WILL ALL FAIL AT THE SAME TIME - THEY WILL GO ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT - AND ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS WILL COME ON - BUT YOU CAN STILL DRIVE THE CAR - YOU JUST HAVE NO IDEA WHAT EH CAR IS DOING - AND THE POWER WINDOWS DO NOT WORK - THE CAR HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A TOTAL OF 8 WEEKS SINCE AUG 26 - THEY HAVE YET TO BE ABLE TO FIX IT - THERE ARE A LOT OF WRITE UPS ON THE INTERNET FOR THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM - AS A MATTER OF FACT JEEP HAD A RECALL FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM FOR THEIR 2002 MODEL - BUT WILL NOT DO ANYTHING TO HELP WITH THIS - KIND OF SCARY TO BE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND ALL OF THE GAUGES GO OFF. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD POPPING SOUND COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. SHE NOTICED WATER UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE AND LATER DISCOVERED THAT THE ELECTRIC RADIATOR FAN HAD BECOME DETACHED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED BY A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT HER VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA RECALL # 06V199000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM:FAN). THE ENGINE SIZE AND A VALID VIN WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 180,000.
ON A HARD STOP THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK MY JEEP THE DEALER, AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE A RUSTED BRAKE LINE THAT FAILED WHEN I MADE THE PANIC STOP. I CALLED CHRYSLER, AND THEY SAID THAT THERE WERE NO SERVICE BULLETINS OR PROBLEMS WITH OTHER JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES REGARDING BRAKE LINES RUSTING OUT AND LEAKING FLUID CAUSING BRAKE FAILURE. CHRYSLER REPLIED THAT SINCE MY JEEP WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, THEY WOULD NOT REIMBURSE ME FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE RUSTED BRAKE LINE. THIS IS NOT ONLY A FINANCIAL ISSUE, BUT A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO NOTIFY OTHERS OF THIS POTENTIAL SAFETY PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY A MECHANIC. SHE LATER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE THAT STATED SHE WOULD BE REIMBURSED IF ANY REPAIRS WERE MADE ON THE VEHICLE. TWO MONTHS AGO, SHE SUBMITTED HER RECEIPTS BY MAIL TO THE MANUFACTURER AND SHE HAS YET TO RECEIVE ANY REIMBURSEMENTS. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A SECOND RECALL NOTICE FOR THE SAME COMPONENT AFTER HER RECEIPTS WERE SUBMITTED. SHE HAS NOT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 87,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
HAZING ON INSIDE OF LENSE ON HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY. SEALED UNIT. BOTH SIDES.*AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE IS A WIRING ISSUE REGARDING THE VEHICLE'S BRAKE LIGHTS. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE HAS NO BRAKE LIGHTS AT ALL. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. SHE HAS RECEIVED TRAFFIC TICKETS FROM THE POLICE BECAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 130,100 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 129,300.
JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS DEFECTIVE TAIL/BRAKE LIGHTS. MINE HAVE BEEN REPLACED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND NOW ITS OUT AGAIN. I KNOW OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE SAME VEHICLE AND ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. *JB
2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SAFETY RECALL F25- ELECTRIC RADIATOR FAN CUSTOMER WANTS TO BE REIMBURSED FOR DAMAGE CAUSED BY THE FAN**CC CHRYSLER WOULD ONLY REPLACE THE FAN AND THE MOTOR AT THEIR COST AND THE CONSUMER WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE RADIATOR AND THE SHROUD. THE RIGHT FRONT POWER WINDOW WOULD NOT ROLL DOWN WHEN USING THE SWITCH. *JB
SINCE I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE IN 2002 I HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. MORE THAN ONCE HAS THE BRAKE/TAIL/HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT, RESULTING IN EITHER GOING TO THE DEALERSHIP OR REPLACING BULBS. ENGINE OVERHEATING HAD TO HAVE NEW RADIATOR AND FAN. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO. WHILE IDLING AT A RED LIGHT, THE CONTACT HEARD A POPPING SOUND COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. HE REMOVED THE SEAT AND FOUND THAT THE WELDING ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE REAR DRIVER SEAT HAD FAILED. THE SEAT IS CURRENTLY CROOKED AND HE IS AFRAID THAT THE LEFT SIDE WILL COME APART NEXT. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT BECAUSE THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY, THEY CANNOT BE OF ASSISTANCE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 132,296 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 131,800. UPDATED 02-01-08 *BF
BRAKE ROTORS WARP EASILY,DOOR LATCHES BRAKE DOWN,AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM MAKES NOISES AND DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. *TR
I HAVE A COOLANT LEAK THAT I CAN NOT GET FIXED. NO VISIBLE LEAK, I HAVE HAD PRESSURE TEST AFTER TEST, I HAD THE HEAD GASKET FIXED, RADIATOR CAP, ALOT OF WORK DONE ON IT AND IT CONTINUES TO LOSE COOLANT AT RAPID RATES. EVERY THREE TO FOUR DAYS I AM FILLING MY COOLANT UP. ALSO, MY REAR BRAKE LIGHTS GO OUT AND DON'T WORK WHEN MY LIGHTS ARE ON, AND I HAVE HAD THOSE REPLACED NUMEROUS TIMES ALSO!! VERY FRUSTRATING... I OWN A 2000 JEEP CHEROKEE LAREDO AND WHEN I COLD START IT THE OIL PRESSURE GOES TO A BIT OVER 40 BUT AFTER THE INLINE 6 4.0 LTR WARMS UP THE OIL PRESSURE DROPS TO ZERO AND THE CHECK GAUGES LIGHT GOES ON. I HAVE REPLACED THE OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT TWICE AND CLEANED THE OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT MOUNTING NUT AND IT HAS NOT AFFECTED THE OIL PRESSURE. I HAVE KEPT REGULAR OIL CHANGES AT 3000 MILES. I AM ALSO LOSING ENGINE COOLANT BUT CANNOT FIND A LEAK ANYWHERE IN THE SYSTEM. I HAVE PRESSURE CHECKED THE COOLING SYSTEM COLD AND IT HOLDS PRESSURE, HOT IT LOSES PRESSURE IN ABOUT 15 MINUTES. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR ABOUT 8 MONTHS NOW. I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT IT IS MOST LIKELY A CRACKED HEAD AND APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE HEADS USED ON 99 TO 01 JEEP INLINE 6'S. IF IT IS SUCH A COMMON PROBLEM WHEN IT CHRYSLER NOT ADDRESSING IT? THIS IS MY SECOND JEEP CHEROKEE, MY FIRST A 98, AND IT WAS A GREAT CAR BUT THAT ONE IS JUNK. *TR

MY 2000 JEEP CHEROKEE LAREDO HAS BEEN SWAPPED-IT SEEMS TO BE A SIMPLE PROCEDURE FOR ONES IN MY AREA , THE VEHICLE PASSES AS THE ONE I PURCHASED BUT SEVERAL THINGS ARE DIFFERENT, I WOULD LIKE SOMEONE TO PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS MATTER. I HAVEN'T WENT TO THE POLICE ABOUT THIS MATTER, BECAUSE I NEED SOMEONE WITH THE KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE SPECIFICS IN THIS MODEL/MAKE VEHICLE TO BE ABLE TO PROVE WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE JEEPS IN MY AREA, I DON'T WANT TO BE DRIVING AROUND IN A STOLEN VEHICLE THAT THE VIN #S HAVE BEEN CHANGE ON, THIS VEHICLE IS NOT THE VEHICLE I PURCHASED, THE MAN AT THE DEALERSHIP EVEN REMEMBERS CERTAIN THINGS BEING DIFFERENT THAN THEY ARE NOW. *TR
NOTICED TRUCK RUNNING HOT WHEN SITTING IDLE. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP, AND THEY ADVISED HIM OF A FAULTY COOLING FAN MODULE. REPLACED COOLING FAN MODULE, AND ONE MONTH LATER TRUCK RAN HOT AGAIN AND WAS LEAKING. TRUCK CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. TRUCK DID NOT FALL UNDER CURRENT RECALL FOR COOLING FAN MODULES. WOULD LIKE TO REQUEST A FULL REFUND FROM MANUFACTURER. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE HAS TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL DOWN TO THE FLOOR IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. SHE REPLACED THE BRAKES AND CYLINDERS ON THREE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS DUE TO SQUEAKING NOISES AND THE INCREASE IN STOPPING DISTANCE. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED THE SQUEAKING AND SCREECHING NOISES WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH AND GREATER. THE MOST RECENT FAILURE OCCURRED ON MAY 16, 2007. THE VIN, PURCHASE DATE, AND ENGINE SIZE WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 112,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
AIR CONDITIONER (A/C) BLOWING COLD AIR OUT OF ONE SIDE. *AK
BRAKE LIGHTS NOT WORKING ON JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, HAVE NOTICED THIS ON OTHER JEEP'S FROM 1999 TO 2001 AND FROM RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET. *AK
THE RESISTOR THAT ALLOWED THE BLOWER MOTOR TO WORK THE AIR CONDITIONER /HEATER MELTED THE WIRING HARNESS AND THE RESISTOR ITSELF, WHICH AT ANYTIME COULD CAUSE A FIRE ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS MEANT THERE WAS NO AIR CONDITIONING OR HEAT FOR THE AUTOMOBILE NOR DEFROSTER SYSTEM. THE COMPANY WAS ON A BACK ORDER FROM WHAT I WAS TOLD BY 1400 PARTS. THE JUNK YARDS DID NOT HAVE THIS RESISTOR, AND AFTER $180 AT NAPA I WAS ABLE TO GET ONE, AND THAT WAS HARD TO FIND ,AND I DIDN'T KNOW HOW LONG THIS ONE WILL LAST. AFTER RECEIVING THE PART THE BOX CONTAINED A HARNESS AND RESISTOR, THE HARNESS HAD ABOUT 10 PLUGGING TO WHERE I BELIEVE I WILL HAVE TO TEAR THE WHOLE DASHBOARD APART JUST TO CONNECT THIS HARNESS. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR A FIRE HAZARD. AND TELL ME WHY CHRYSLER ISN'T SELLING THIS PART.*AK
BLEND DOOR FAILURE ON 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. CLIMATE CONTROLS NO LONGER WORK, INCLUDING DEFROST/DEFOG VENTS, CAUSING DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. *AK
I PURCHASED A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IN 2005 FROM A USED CAR DEALER IN ALBUQUERQUE. AT THAT TIME NO RECALLS OR REPAIRS OF ANY SAFETY RELATED DEFECTS WERE REVEALED TO ME. I RECEIVED A RECALL IN NOVENBER 2006 FOR COOLING FAN THAT I HAD ALREADY HAD DONE . DAIMLER/CHRYSLER REIMBURSED ME FOR SOME OF THE REPAIRS DONE. ON 4-17-07 I WAS NORTH BOUND ON UNSER APPROACHING LADERA, TRAFFIC WAS STOPPED AT THE RED LIGHT. I WAS TRAVELING THE SPEED LIMIT WHICH WAS POSTED AT 35 MPH. I PRESSED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO BEGIN SLOWING DOWN AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I THEN SLAMMED MY FOOT DOWN ON THE PEDAL IT WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I REAR ENDED A LARGE PICKUP AT THE INTERSECTION. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, AND I DID NOT THINK THE SEAT BELT ENGAGED UNTILL I HIT THE STEERING WHEEL WITH MY STERNUM. MY INJURIES WERE MINOR, AND I ELT THE INJURIES OF THE PERSON I HIT WERE ALSO MINOR. THE REASON I BELIEVED THISWAS SO BECAUSE I WAS KNOCKED UNCONSICIENCE. AFTER SOME ADVICE FROM AN ATTOURNEY I CHECKED ONLINE FOR ANY SAFTY RELATED RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. I WAS NOT SURPRISED TO FIND MANY. RECALL # 200002004 WAS A SEAT BELT RECALL, RECALL # 20060313 WAS A BRAKE SYSTEM RECALL, AND RECALL # 19991202 WAS A AIR BAG RECALL. THERE WERE MANY MORE I AM SURE YOU WERE AWARE OFF. MY CONCERN WAS FOR ANYBODY ELSE THATWAS DRIVING ONE OF THESE VEHICLES WITH THEIR FAMILIES IN THE CAR. IF MY WIFE OR DAUGHTER HAD BEEN IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME I AM SURE THEIR INJURIES WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE SEVERE. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS VEHICLE, IT WAS NOT SAFE. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE EXTERIOR, TAILGATE AND BRAKE LIGHT BULBS WERE INOPERABLE AND MUST BE REPLACED FREQUENTLY. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WERE FREQUENT TAIL LIGHT FAILURES WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL JEEP. ON APRIL 15, 2007 THE TAIL GATE BULB LIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. HOWEVER, ITWAS CURRENTLY INOPERABLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE 163,000. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. ON APRIL 12, 2007 THE VEHICLE BEGAN SMOKING UNDER THE HOOD AND PROCEEDED TO CATCH ON FIRE WHILE BEING WARMED UP. THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT CAN RETRIEVE A POLICE AND FIRE REPORT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE UNKNOWN. *AK
TODAY WHILE DRIVING THE 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED THE HEATER STOPPED SENDING WARM AIR TO THE PASSENGER SIDE DEFROSTER AND HEAT OUTLETS, HAS DUAL ZONE CONTROLS. I SUSPECTED IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THEGATESWHICH CONTROL THE AMOUNT OF WARM AIR TO ENTER THE PASSENGER CABIN. UPON RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET IT APPEARED THIS WAS AN IDENTIFIED DEFECT AFFECTING MANY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OWNERS. THE PROBLEM WAS APPARENTLY NOT CORRECTABLE WITHOUT REPLACING THE GATES"AND ACTUATORS. I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP, AND THEY ACKNOWLEDGE DIT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM , AND HAVE RECEIVED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ON THE ISSUE. ESTIMATED REPAIR COST WAS $1100 PLUS. IN MY OPINION MANUFACTURING DEFECTS SHOULD BE COVERED THROUGH A RECALL AND AT NO EXPENSE TO THE OWNER. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO. WITHOUT WARNING, THE DRIVER'S SEAT CAME OFF TRACK. THE SEAT FRAME DETACHED FROM THE TRACK AND RIPPED A PIECE OF METAL UNDERNEATH THE SEAT. THE FAILURE WAS NOT CAUSED BY ANY FORCEFUL ACTION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT CHRYSLER WILL NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE REPAIR COSTS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 92,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. UPDATED 08/08/07. *JB
DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR ON BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER(FRONT) SIDE FAILED. UNABLE TO OPEN WITH KEY ALONE. MUST PRESS KEYLESS ENTRY AND ALSO TURN KEY. ACTUATOR MAKE GRINDING/QUACKING NOISE WHEN KEYLESS ENTRY USED. NO REPAIRS ATTEMPTED AS YET. DEALER COST IS APPROX $ 250 PER DOOR. FRONT ROTORS WEAR EXCESSIVELY AND QUICKLY. RESULTS IN VIOLENT AND DANGEROUS SHAKING OF VEHICLE WHEN BRAKING FROM MID-RANGE SPEEDS (40-45 MPH). HAVE HAD ROTORS POLISHED TWICE WITHIN 8 MONTHS. *JB
I HAVE A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. SINCE JULY 2004, THERE HAS BEEN PROBLEMS WITH THE POWER DOOR LOCK SOLENOIDS, ONE AFTER THE OTHER. AS OF THIS REPORTING, I HAVE HAD TO HAVE ALL THE POWER LOCK SOLENOIDS REPLACED, INCLUDING THE BACK HATCH WHICH WAS REPLACED THE MONDAY PRIOR TO THIS WRITING. THE PROBLEMS STARTED WITH THE REAR DOOR SOLENOIDS, LEFT DOOR FIRST, THEN THE RIGHT. PROBLEMS WERE SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH WITH THE REAR DOORS THAT THEY COULD NOT BE OPENED FROM THE OUTSIDE AFTER THEY FAILED - ONLY FROM THE INSIDE BY MANUALLY UNLOCKING THE DOOR (THE OUTSIDE DOES NOT HAVE A KEY SLOT). I HAVE INCURRED ALMOST $2,000 IN REPAIR COSTS OVER THE LAST 30 MONTHS REPLACING THE MECHANISMS. THE SAME REPAIR SHOP REPLACED ALL FIVE UNITS, AND ALL FIVE REPLACEMENTS ARE CURRENTLY FUNCTIONING. THEY FURNISHED ME THIS WEBSITE TO CONTACT DUE TO THE TROUBLE THAT I HAVE SEEN.*AK
AFTER CRACKLING A WEIRD AIR ISSUES IN MY JEEP THE CLIMATE CONTROL SUDDENLY STOPPED FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY ALL TOGETHER. THISWAS GOING TO COST ME ROUGHLY $1,200 TO REPAIR, AND I READ ON THE INTERNET THAT THERE WAS MORE THAN ONE INCIDENT. AFTER 52,000 MILES SOMETHING CALLED A BLEND DOOR EFFECT TOOK PLACE. IF I KNEW THIS BEFORE I BOUGHT MY JEEP I WOULD HAVE AVOIDED IT LIKE THE PLAGUE.*AK
I HAVE A 2000 GRAND CHEROKEE JEEP LIMITED THAT I PURCHASED NEW. IT WAS FAIRLY OK UNTIL 2003 AT ABOUT 60K MILES. THAT'S WHEN THE RADIATOR STARTING LEAKING. IT WAS REPLACED IN 2003 AND ANNUALLY THEREAFTER (5 REPLACEMENTS) WITH THE LAST ONE IN MARCH 2007. ADDITIONALLY, I HAVE HAD SEVERAL WATER PUMPS PLUS REPLACING THE HEATER CORE. THE DEALER SAYS THEY CAN'T FIND THE CAUSE FOR THE RADIATORS TO CONTINUE TO BREAKDOWN EVERY YEAR WITH LESS THAN 10K AND UNDER 12 MONTHS EACH TIME. I BELIEVE THE JEEP HAS AN INHERENT FLAW IN THE COOLING SYSTEM DESIGN. CHRYSLER CONTINUES TO IGNORE THE PROBLEM AND WILL NOT PAY FOR ANY FUTURE RADIATORS WHICH ALMOST ASSUREDLY WILL BREAKDOWN AGAIN IN THE NEAR FUTURE. *JB
WHILE MY SON WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT THE ACCELERATOR ON OUR 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LTD SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. YOU CAN SEE THE SKID MARKS FROM HIM APPLYING THE BRAKES BUT IT WENT FULL THROTTLE AND TOOK IT INTO A CONCRETE WALL. THE JEEP HAS BEEN TOTALED. THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT DOOR LOCK OF MY 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE FAILED IN SUCH A MANNER THAT THE DOOR COULD NOT BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE OR THE OUTSIDE. THIS TURNED OUT TO BE ONLY A INCONVENIENCE FOR ME, HOWEVER IF THIS HAPPENS DURING AN EMERGENCY SOMEONE COULD BE TRAPPED INSIDE THE CAR. *JB

2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, THIS IS THE THIRD OCCURANCE THAT MY HEATING/COOLING SYSTEM HAS FAILED SINCE I PURCHASED MY JEEP IN AUGUST OF 1999. THE LATEST PROBLEM IS THE BLEND DOORS AND RECIRCULATION DOORS. THE DEALER COST TO FIX WAS ABOUT $900.00. AFTER SEVEN YEARS I WOULD THINK THAT CHRYSLER COULD MAKE A HEATING/COOLING SYSTEM THAT WOULD NOT BREAK EVERY 2.5YEARS. *NM
DUE TO PULSING OF THE BRAKE PEDAL AND VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL THE DEALER TURNED THE ROTORS AND REPLACED THE PADS AROUND 20,000 MILES (WE PAID THE BILL). THE ROTORS AND PADS WERE REPLACED AGAIN AROUND 40,000 MILES BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. ON A TRIP TO THE STORE THE RIGHT FRONT CALIPER WOULD NOT TOTALLY RELEASE PULLING HARD TO THE RIGHT AND HEATING THE ROTOR / PADS TO THE POINT OF SMOKING. THE RIGHT FRONT ALUMINUM WHEEL RIM WAS TOO HOT TO TOUCH; THE CALIPER AND ROTOR WERE REPLACED WHICH REMEDIED THE PROBLEM. *JB
AT 7:20 THIS MORNING WHEN I STARTED THE JEEP, THE HEADLIGHTS AND TAILLIGHTS AND DASH LIGHTS DID NOT WORK. THE HIGH BEAMS WORKED ONLY WHILE I HELD THE SWITCH ON. THEY WOULDN'T STAY ON. TURN INDICATORS WORKED. DROVE SON TO SCHOOL AND CAME HOME. TOOK JEEP MANUAL INSIDE TO LOOK UP FUSES. DISCOVERED THERE ARE SEPARATE FUSES FOR LEFT AND RIGHT SO I DOUBTED IT WAS THE FUSE. DECIDED I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE THE JEEP TO THE DEALER. WHEN I WENT BACK TO THE GARAGE ABOUT 7:35, THE LIGHTS WERE ON (I HAD LEFT THE SWITCH ON BY MISTAKE, AND THE LIGHTS ON ALARM DIDN'T SOUND WHEN I LEFT THE CAR). NOW WHEN I OPENED THE CAR DOOR, THE LIGHTS ON ALARM BELL RANG. I TURNED OFF THE LIGHTS AND TURNED THEM ON AGAIN. I TURNED ON THE HIGH BEAMS. EVERYTHING WAS WORKING NORMAL. CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY REALLY CAN'T DO ANYTHING AS LONG AS EVERYTHING IS WORKING. SURELY THIS HAS HAPPENED TO SOMEBODY ELSE. I DON'T WANT TO BE DRIVING BACK FROM THE AIRPORT SOME NIGHT AND HAVE THE LIGHTS GO OUT. *NM
3 OF MY DOORS HAVE TO BE EITHER MANUALLY LOCKED OR UNLOCKED. THE KEYLESS FUNCTION NO LONGER WORKS CORRECTLY FOR THEM. BOTH PASSENGER DOORS DO NOT UNLOCK WITH THE KEYLESS/ELECTRONIC FOB, THE DRIVERS DOOR DOES NOT LOCK WITH THE KEYLESS/ELECTRONIC FOB, ONLY MANUALLY. ANYTIME THE KEYLESS/ELECTRONIC FOB IS USED A NASTY GRINDING NOISE COMES FROM 1 OR MORE OF THE DOORS. *TR
