ON SEPTEMBER 14, 2006, MY WIFE WAS INVOLVED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT IN OUR JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE RESULTING IN COMPLETE LOSS OF THE VEHICLE AND NON-LIFE-THREATENING INJURIES TO HER. MY TWO CHILDREN, AGES 3 AND 4, WERE IN THE VEHICLE, PROPERLY RESTRAINED IN CARS EATS AND INCURRED NO INJURIES. SHE WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, AND HIT THE REAR END OF A TRUCK PARKED IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF A THREE LANE MAJOR ROAD. THE IMPACT TOTALED THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THE AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE FAILURE OF AIRBAGS IN A HEAD-ON IMPACT AT 40 MPH WOULD SEEM TO BE A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN FOR THE MANUFACTURE AND PERHAPS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED TO DETERMINE IF THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE MODEL OR IF THIS WAS AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. *JB
9/12/06 - HAD ELECTRIC FAN MOTOR ASSEMBLY REPLACED WHILE TRAVELING BY MCGEE TIRE STORES IN TALLAHASSEE, FL FOR $535. 9/15/06 - RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE F25 FROM DAIMLER CHRYSLER FOR SAME AS REPAIR. 01/02/07 - INSPECTED BY DAYTON ANDREWS DAIMLER CHRYSLER TO VERIFY WORK WAS COMPLETED. SENT ORIGINAL REPAIR RECEIPT, DAYTON ANDREWS LETTER AND RECALL NOTICE WITH LETTER TO DAIMLER CHRYSLER REQUESTING REIMBURSEMENT FOR REPAIRS. 01/16/06 - RECEIVED A CALL FROM "RANDI" AT DAIMLER CHRYSLER STATING THAT SHE REVIEVED OUR PAPERWORK AND DETERMINED WE WERE NOT ENTITLED TO REIMBURSEMENT BECAUSE WE CHOSE NOT TO HAVE JEEP PERFORM THE WORK. SHE REFUSED TO LET ME SPEAK WITH HER SUPERVISOR AND STATED THAT SHE WAS "EMPOWERED BY DAIMLER CHRYSLER TO MAKE THIS DECISION NOT TO REIMBURSE." THE RECEIPT OF THE RECALL NOTICE OCCURRED DIRECTLY FOLLOWING US HAVING TO HAVE THIS WORK DONE WHILE TRAVELING TO TALLAHASSEE, SEVERAL HUNDRED MILES FROM HOME AND STRANDED WITHOUT A WORKING VEHICLE. WHILE WE WERE HAVING THIS WORK PERFORMED, WE WERE UNAWARE OF THIS RECALL AS WE HAD NOT YET RECEIVED THE NOTIFICATION. HOW DO WE APPEAL TO DAIMLER CHRYSLER TO RECONSIDER THIS CLAIM? I HAVE SOFT COPIES OF ALL DOCUMENTS, IN CASE "RANDI" CHOOSES NOT TO RETURN MY ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS, WHICH I CAN PRODUCE UPON REQUEST. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP.
GOT RECALL NOTICE FROM LOCAL DEALERSHIP OVER A MONTH AGO. HAVE TRIED VARIOUS TIMES TO GET VEHICLE REPAIRED BUT ALWAYS TOLD BY DEALERSHIP THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO GET PARTS. VERY FRUSTRATING.
OVER THE PAST 6 MONTHS AT RANDOM THE BRAKE LIGHTS SEEM TO BURN OUT. IT MIGHT BE THE LEFT SIDE ONE WEEK AND THE RIGHT THE NEXT. NEW BULBS OFTEN LAST BETWEEN 1 HOUR AND 3 WEEKS. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THAT ELECTRICAL WIRING PROBLEMS ARE OFTEN VERY HARD TO FIX. *NM
UNABLE TO CONTROL DIRECTION OF HEAT/COOL TO VENTS. DEALER DIAGNOSED BLOWER AIR DOOR FAILURE . REPLACEMENT WAS OVER $800. I DO NOT HAVE THE OLD PARTS. *AK
TL* - THE CONTACT HAS A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE ON 10/11/2006 AND ON SEPTEMBER 1, 2006, SEVERAL HOURS AFTER HAVING A FULL SERVICE CHECK UP FOR A BROKEN B SEAT BELT THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 75 MPH AND THE ELECTRIC RADIATOR FAN BLADE SEPARATED AND WENT THROUGH THE RADIATOR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS CAUSED THE ENGINE TO OVERHEAT, CRACKING THE ENGINE'S HEAD, AND SEIZING THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT EVERYTHING HAPPENED INSTANTLY, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SUDDENLY BEGIN SMOKING AND LOSE POWER, EVEN THOUGHT THE CONTACT WAS ACCELERATING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN LOCKED, AND THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO COAST TO A STOP, AND LATER HAD IT TOWED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WEATHER WAS IN THE 100 DEGREES ON THAT DAY. SHE PAID $2100 TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE , AND THAT THE DEALERSHIP WANTED TO SETTLE WITH HER FOR $700. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE BRACKETS ON THE FRONT DRIVER SEAT HAVE SNAPPED TWICE, CAUSING THE SEAT TO ROCK AND SLIDE FRONTWARDS AND BACKWARDS. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY DID NOT EXPLAIN HOW THE BRACKETS SNAPPED. HE BELIEVES THAT HE WILL NOT BE SECURED PROPERLY IF A CRASH OCCURRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 170,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE PLASTIC FAN BLADE SHATTERED AND BROKE INTO PIECES, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO OVERHEAT. THERE WAS A NHTSA RECALL, # 06V199000, REGARDING THE ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING: COOLING SYSTEM: FAN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN.

REPLACEMENT OF BRAKE ROTORS/PADS & SHOCK PROBLEMS. *JB
I AM THE OWNER OF A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. ON THURSDAY AUGUST 10, 2006, MY ELECTRIC MOTOR DRIVEN COOLING FAN EXPLODED, CAUSING DAMAGE TO MY SHROUD AND PUNCTURING TWO HOLES IN MY RADIATOR. THIS HAS DONE SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO MY CAR. IT IS UNDRIVEABLE UNTIL ALL OF THESE COMPONENTS ARE REPLACED. I CONTACTED DAIMLER CHRYSLER'S 800 NUMBER AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOT A RECALL ON THIS PART. I CALLED MY LOCAL JEEP DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE SAME. I HAVE PULLED UP LETTERS FROM THE DIRECTOR OF VEHICLE COMPLIANCE AND SAFETY AFFAIRS FROM DAIMLER CHRYSLER STATING THERE WILL BE A RECALL TO REPLACE ALL COOLING FANS, AND EQUIPMENT. I AM VERY UPSET OVER HOW I WAS TREATED AT DCE OVER THIS MATTER. THERE WAS NO ASSISTANCE GIVEN OTHER THAN, TO CALL BACK LATER ON IF I RECEIVED A LETTER. THESE PARTS ARE VERY EXPENSIVE, AND I FEEL THAT IF THERE IS A RECALL,....... THEN THIS MATTER SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF, AND NOT DONE SO OUT OF MY POCKET. *NM
MY 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ALSO HAS THE ACCELERATION PROBLEM (WITHOUT NOTICE) WHEN SHIFTING FROM OR TO PARK. I'VE HAD A DOZEN INSTANCES INCLUDING SOME WHILE STOPPED BEHIND OTHER VEHICLES AT A RED LIGHT AND WHEN I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE THE CAR WANTS TO SURGE FORWARD. DUE TO FAULTY ROTORS, CALIPERS, AND BRAKES WHICH RESULTED IN THE WELL DOCUMENTED SHIMMY IN 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDOS, I HAD THE DEALERSHIP REPLACE ALL COMPONENTS AT 70K MILES. NOW AT 121,000; THE SHIMMY IS SO BAD AT 40 MPH THAT I NEARLY LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. LOOKS LIKE ANOTHER EXPENSIVE BRAKE JOB TO CORRECT AN INHERENT JEEP DEFECT. *JB
2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, HAD OVERHEATING ISSUES. HAVE HAD WATER PUMP, COOLING FAN, COOLING FAN RELAY REPLACED, STILL A PROBLEM. THOUSAND OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. *TR
THE ENGINE SIMPLY STOPS WITHOUT WARNING. I HAD TAKEN IT TO DEALER AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. FOUR DAYS LATER WHILE DRIVING TO THE DEALER IT DIED ON A 6 LANE STREET. I WAS IN OUR OTHER VEHICLE AND TOWED IT TO THE DEALER MYSELF. IT HAS BEEN 6 DAYS AND I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THEM. *JB
ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM FAN BEGAN CAUSING VIBRATION TO THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAN ONLY ENGAGES WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER IS ON. *NM
COOLING FAN RELAY MODULE FAILURE IN 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE THIS RELAY IS A PERSISTENT SOURCE OF FAILURE IN THIS VEHICLE. IN 90K MILES I AM ON MY 3RD AND THE DEALER PARTS AND SERVICE KNOW THIS PROBLEM WITH GREAT FAMILIARITY. IT APPEARS THIS COMPONENT HAS INADEQUATE COOLING PROPERTIES. EITHER IT IS UNDERSIZED FOR THE LOADER REQUIRES A LARGER HEAT SINK TO BETTER DISSIPATE HEAT. WHAT MAKE ITS A BIGGER PROBLEM IS THE LOCATION UNDER THE BATTERY TRAY REQUIRES SIGNIFICANT DISASSEMBLY TO ACCESS REPLACEMENT. DO I HAVE ANY RECOURSE WITH THE MANUFACTURER? *JB
THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SUDDENLY FAILED. THIS HAPPENED 4 TIMES, 3 TIMERS WHILE VEHICLE AS RUNNING AND TWICE AFTER THE DEALER "FIXED" IT. *JB
THE BLEND AND RECIRCULATION DOOR ASSEMBLY IN MY 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED FAILED. THIS LEADS TO A LOSS OF HEAT AND DEFROSTER. I LIVE IN MINNESOTA SO WITH NO DEFROSTER THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD. MY WINDOWS WON'T DEFROST AND WILL SUDDENLY FOG UP WITHOUT WARNING. I CAN SUDDENLY LOSE ALL VISIBILITY. *JB
TL*- THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER REGARDING HER 2000 JEEP CHEROKEE REGARDING THE ELECTRIC RADIATOR FAN. THE CONTACT STATES THAT SHE HAS HAD THIS REPAIR DONE ON THE ENTIRE ELECTRIC RADIATOR FAN BACK ON JULY 27,2006. THE CONTACT STATES THAT SHE SENT A LETTER TO CHRYSLER REGARDING THIS REPAIR ORDER AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WILL NOT REIMBURSE HER FOR HER REPAIR ON THE ENTIRE ELECTRIC RADIATOR FAN. THE CONTACT SAID THAT CHRYSLER SAID THEY WILL NOT REIMBURSE HER BECAUSE THE MOTOR WENT BAD INSTEAD OF THE BLADE, BUT IF THE BLADE HAD GONE BAD THEY WOULD HAVE REIMBURSED HER. THE CONTACT WOULD LIKE TO HAVE REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE PARTS AND LABOR BUT WOULD BE HAPPY IF CHRYSLER WOULD REIMBURSE HER FOR THE PARTS. THE CONTACT HAS A PROBLEM THAT CHRYSLER STATED THAT THEY SAID, IF THE BLADES HAD SHATTERED AND CREATED MORE DAMAGE TO THE MOTOR REIMBURSEMENT WOULD BE IN ORDER. THE CONTACT HAS PROVIDED THE INVOICE OF REPAIR AND THE LETTER TO DAIMLER CHRYSLER ABOUT THE REIMBURSEMENT FOR REPAIRS. UPDATE 05/04/07*TR

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS FUEL LEAKING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE WHILE PARKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER, WHO DETERMINED THE LEAK ORIGINATED AT THE ROLLOVER VALVE. THE FUEL TANK WAS REPLACED, WHICH CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. THERE WAS A NHTSA RECALL# 00V195000, WHICH PERTAINED TO THE FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN. MAIN ENGINE WIRING HARNESS INSULATION MELTED AT THE CONNECTORS TO THE FUEL INJECTORS CAUSING MULTIPLE FUEL INJECTOR MISFIRES. THE PROBLEM CAN BE CORRECTED WITH NEW CONNECTORS TO THE INJECTORS HOWEVER CHRYSLER CORP. ONLY SELLS THE ENTIRE HARNESS AT A COST OF $1800.00.*JB

IN JULY 2007, HE RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR THE ENGINE COOLING COOLING SYSTEM: FAN NHTSA (CAMPAIGN #06V199000). HE WOULD LIKE TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE REPAIR. DAIMLER CHRYSLER SAFETY RECALL F25-ELECTRIC RADIATOR FAN**CC THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND AN UNKNOWN PART WAS FIXED. ABOUT A MONTH LATER WHILE ON VACATION THE VEHICLES ELECTRIC FAN BROKE AND DAMAGED THE RADIATOR. THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL FOR THIS FAILURE SEVERAL MONTHS LATER AND SUBMITTED AND INVOICE AND CREDIT CARD RECEIPT AS PROOF OF REPAIR/PAYMENT. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT HE WOULD ONLY BE PARTIALLY REIMBURSED FOR THE REPAIRS. *NM
DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AND IT FELT LIKE I RAN OVER SOMETHING. MY WIFE NOTICED BLACK PIECES HITTING THE PAVEMENT BEHIND US. DROVE THE REST OF THE WAY HOME AND WHEN I PULLED IN THE DRIVEWAY I SAW STEAM COMING FROM UNDER MY HOOD. I LET IT COOL AND FOUND OUT THAT THE COOLING FAN WAS IN MULTIPLE PIECES. ONE PIECE WAS JAMMED BETWEEN THE RADIATOR SHROUD AND THE RADIATOR. I ALSO NOTICED THAT MY RADIATOR WAS LEAKING FROM TWO SPOTS WHERE IT LOOKED LIKE THE FAN PARTS HIT THE RADIATOR. LOOKED ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER : 06V199000. CALLED JEEP CORP OFFICE AND THEY DIDN'T KNOW OF THE RECALL AND WOULD NOT OFFER TO FIX SINCE I HAD 86K MILES. SAID I COULD BE REIMBURSED IF MY JEEP S/N WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND THAT I WOULD RECEIVE A POST CARD. THE JEEP DEALER WAS OUT OF MY BUDGET TO REPAIR SO I BOUGHT A NEW FAN ASSEMBLY AND A NEW RADIATOR AND REPLACED IT MY SELF. I WAS JUST LUCKY BECAUSE I WAS ON VACATION AND PLANNED TO DO A TUNE UP ON THE JEEP THE NEXT DAY. *JB
MY 2000 GRAND JEEP CHEROKEE LARADO HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRIAL SYSTEM. ALL THE DASH LITES ARE ON AND THE SPEEDOMETER DOSNT WORK. IT HAS BEEN AT A JEEP DEALERSHJP FOR ALMOST A MONTH. THEY CANT FIGURE OUT WHATS WRONG WITH IT. THEY FIRST REPLACED A COMPUTER MODULAR AND I PICKED IT UP AND THE NEXT DAY I STILL HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS. I TOOK IT BACK AND THEY REPLACED THE SAMETHING AND TOLD ME IT WAS FIXED AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN AFTER PAYING OUT 980.00. I TOOK IT BACK A THIRD TIME AND THE COMPANY TOLD THEM TO CHANGE THE GROUND WIRES AND THAT DIDNT FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY ARE OUT OF IDEAS. THE RIGHT TALE LITE KEEPS GOING OUT ALSO. SO THEY JUST PUT A NEW ONE IN. THIS WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AS WE HAVE CHANGED LITE BULB SEVERAL TIMES. THE REAR WINDOWS WILL NO LONGER WORK ALSO. THEY SAID THEY CHANGED THE FUSE AND FIXED THE PROBLEM BUT IT WASNT FIXED. THIS COULD LEAD TO A TICKET FOR NOT GOING THE SPEED LIMIT OR ACCIDENT FROM SPEEDING, ALSO A REAR END CRASH AS THE TAIL LITE GOES OFF WHEN YOU APPLY THE BRAKES.
AIR CONDITIONER (A/C) WILL PUT OUT HEAT WHEN ON FULL COLD AND NEAT WILL PUT OUT COLD WHEN ON HEAT MODE. AIR WILL NOT BLOW OUT VENTS OR DEFROST BUT BLOWER MOTOR IS WORKING . STARTED ACTING UP LAST YEAR AND STILL DOES IT. *TR
COOLING FAN IS CRACKED ON 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE STARTING TO VIBRATE. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH ON DRY ASPHALT ROAD CONDITIONS, THE WHEELS LOCKED UP. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNALS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SERVICE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THAT CALIPER LOCKED. THE SERVICE DEALER RECOMMENDED THAT THE CONTACT CALL NHTSA FOR POTENTIAL RECALL INFORMATION BEFORE PROVIDING REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT AGREED TO KEEP THE OLD PARTS AFTER THE REPAIR.
THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT BECAME DISENGAGED FROM THE FLOOR MOUNT BECAUSE A 2 1/2 " SECTION OF THE METAL SEAT FRAME INCLUDING THE MOUNTING BOLT FRACTURED AND BROKE AWAY FROM THE FRAME SO THAT THE 2 1/2" SECTION AND THE BOLT ARE STILL ATTACHED TO THE FLOOR MOUNT, BUT THE SEAT IS NOT. I REQUESTED THAT THE MANUFACTURER REPLACE OR REPAIR AS A SAFETY ISSUE, BUT BOTH THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER SAID IT WAS BEYOND THE WARRANTY PERIOD AND THEY COULD NOT. THEY FAILURE APPEARS TO BE FROM METAL FATIGUE. THE SEAT HAS NEVER BEEN SUBJECTED TO UNUSUAL STRESS OR WEIGHT. I AM THE ONLY DRIVER AND WEIGH ~180 LBS. THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT THAT WOULD HAVE PUT ADDITIONAL FORCE AGAINST THE SEAT. THE SEAT JUST STUCK ONE DAY SO YOU COULD NOT MOVE THE SEAT FORWARD OR BACK, AND THE SEAT BEGAN TO SQUEAK WHICH APPARENTLY WAS DUE TO THE FRAME CONTAINING THE MOUNTING BOLT BREAKING. *NM
TL*- THIS COMPLAINT IS REGARDING NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER : 06V199000. THE CONTACT STATES THAT SOMETIME IN THE BEGINNING OF JULY, WHILE STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION HE HEARD A LOUD NOISE. HE PULLED OVER AND COULD SEE THAT THERE WAS ANTI-FREEZE LEAKING FROM HIS VEHICLE AND ALSO THAT HIS ELECTRIC FAN CAME APART. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND PAID FOR THE REPAIR. WHEN IN OPERATION THE SURGE OCCURS AND WOULD MOVE THE CAR FORWARD IF BRAKES ARE NOT APPLIED. SURGE CAN ALSO BE FELT WHEN DECELERATING AND BRAKING. INTERMITTENT BUT PERSISTENT PROBLEM FOR START UP AND OPERATION. DOES NOT OCCUR OFTEN ENOUGH OR FOR LONG ENOUGH PERIODS TO CATCH ON DIAGNOSTICS. 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO - PLASTIC HEADLIGHT COVERS DETERIORATE AND BECOME CLOUDY CAUSING A SEVERE REDUCTION IN NIGHT TIME VISIBILITY. I TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER WHO SAID THEY HAD A SPECIAL SERVICE @ $ 89.95 TO RESTORE HEADLIGHTS. SERVICE WAS NOT SUCCESSFUL. I CALLED CHRYSLER FOR ASSISTANCE AND THEY SAID IT WAS "NOT A KNOWN SERVICE ISSUE." THE SENIOR STAFF AGENT @ CHRYSLER STATED HE COULD NOT HELP ME. HE STATED THAT ONLY RECALLS ARE KNOWN SERVICE ISSUE AND CHRYSLER HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF THIS PROBLEM. I ASKED WHY WOULD THE DEALER OFFER A SPECIALIZED SERVICE TO CORRECT AN UNKNOWN PROBLEM ? HE INDICATED THAT THERE NO SPECIAL HEAD LAMP RESTORATION SERVICES BEING OFFERED BY CHRYSLER AND IT MUST BE LIMITED TO MY LOCAL DEALER. HE STATED THAT UNLESS THERE WAS A RECALL BY NHTSA THERE WAS NOTHING HE COULD DO. I CALLED LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER AND SPOKE WITH SERVICE MANAGER AND HE ADVISED ME THAT THIS WAS A LONG STANDING PROBLEM AND CHRYSLER, PLUS EVERYBODY SOUTH OF THE MASON DIXON LINE WAS AWARE OF HEADLIGHT COVER FAILURE ISSUE. *JB
THE ORIGINAL FAN ON OUR 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE EXPLODE ON US WHILE ON THE ROAD, BROKE INTO MANY PIECES AND DAMAGED THE SHROUD. WE BOUGHT AN AFTER MARKET FAN TO FIX THE PROBLEM. END OF JUNE 2006 WE TOOK IT TO ALLEN SAMUELS CHRYSLER JEEP DEALER TO HAVE IT PERMANENTLY FIXED SINCE IT ACTED LIKE THERE WAS STILL A PROBLEM. WE PAID ALMOST $1000. RIGHT BEFORE THANKSGIVING WE GOT A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL FROM CHRYSLER ON THE FAN BEING RECALLED AND FOR THE PEOPLE THAT ALREADY HAD THE PROBLEM FIXED TO SEND IN THE ORIGINAL RECEIPT FOR REIMBURSEMENT. SO WE DID MAIL IT ALL IN AND WE GOT A PHONE CALL FROM CHRYSLER DENYING THE CLAIM SINCE HANS AT ALLEN SAMUELS CHRYSLER JEEP TOLD THEM THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY THE AFTER MARKET FAN. SO I CALLED HANS TO ASK HIM WHY HE TOLD CHRYSLER IT WAS CAUSED BY THE AFTER MARKET FAN IF WE ORIGINALLY CAME IN WITH THE BLOWN UP ORIGINAL FAN AND A BROKEN SHROUD AND THERMOSTAT. HE SAID IN THEIR SYSTEM IT STATES THAT THEY REPLACED THE AFTER MARKET FAN BECAUSE IT WAS NOT BLOWING ENOUGH AIR. WELL THAT IS WRONG, BUT UNFORTUNATELY HANS WAS NOT WILLING TO BE HELPFUL AND TAKE CARE OF THE MATTER. HE ALSO TOLD ME HE SPOKE WITH MY HUSBAND WHEN WE BROUGHT THE CAR IN AND TOLD HIM WE HAVE TO HAVE A NEW RADIATOR TO KEEP THE CAR FROM OVER HEATING AND HE WAS THERE WHEN THE TECHNICIAN TOLD MY HUSBAND THE SAME THING. THE PROBLEM IS, I WAS THERE TOO AND THAT IS NOT WHAT THEY TOLD US. ABOUT THE AFTER MARKET FAN, IT WAS REPLACED BECAUSE THE ORIGINAL FAN EXPLODED, IF THAT WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED WE WOULD HAVE NEVER NEEDED AN AFTER MARKET FAN AND WE WOULD NOT BE IN THIS SITUATION, BUT CHRYSLER AND HANS DON'T SEE IT THAT WAY. I BELIEVE IF THERE IS A RECALL ON A PART AND WE ALREADY HAD IT HAPPEN TO US AND WE PAID OUT OF POCKET WE SHOULD GET OUR MONEY BACK. WE ALSO HAD A STEEL BRACKET ON THE DRIVER SEAT BRAKE AND CHRYSLER DOES NOT SEE IT AS A SAFETY HAZARD THEREFORE THEY WILL NOT REPLACE IT. *JB

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE A SNAPPING SOUND CAME FROM UNDER THE HOOD. AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND LIFTING THE HOOD THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THE FAN BLADES WERE FRACTURED. THE FAN BLADES DETACHED FROM THE FAN BASE AND WERE LODGED IN VARIOUS AREAS UNDER THE HOOD. THERE IS A NHTSA RECALL, # 06V199000, REGARDING THE COOLING SYSTEM FAN. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.

COOLING FAN BLADE SEPARATED ON MY 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SUV WHILE I WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE BLADES ALSO MADE A HOLE IN THE SHROUD SURROUNDING THE FAN. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE STARTING THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS A LOUD BANG. THE AIR CONDITIONER HEATED UP QUICKLY, WHICH WAS ACCOMPANIED BY A SMELL OF SOMETHING ELECTRICAL BURNING. SOME PLASTIC WAS ALSO NOTICED ON THE GROUND WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC SHOP, WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE COOLING FAN HOUSING HAD DISINTEGRATED AND STRUCK THE RADIATOR. THIS CAUSED CREASES IN THE RADIATOR. THE FAN HOUSING WAS REPAIRED BY THE MECHANIC. THERE IS A NHTSA RECALL # 06V199000 WHICH RELATES TO THE COOLING SYSTEM FAN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS PICKED UP FROM THE DEALERSHIP AFTER A SCHEDULED TUNE UP ON 6-15-06 AND DRIVEN LESS THAN 10 MILES WHEN A NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. UPON INSPECTION, THE ENGINE FAN WERE OBSERVED TO BE FRACTURED. AS A RESULT, HALF OF THE PLASTIC BLADE STRUCK THE CONTACT'S COLLAR BONE AND THE OTHER HALF WENT THROUGH THE RADIATOR. WHILE DRIVING AWAY FROM THE SCENE OF THE INCIDENT THE HEAT TEMPERATURE ELEVATED OVER 260 DEGREES AND THE RADIATOR WAS DRY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP WHO DETERMINED THE FAN ASSEMBLY UNIT HAD DETACHED, PENETRATING THE RADIATOR AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIR SHOP ALSO DETERMINED THE SAME FAN ASSEMBLY WAS USED FOR THE 4.0L AND THE 4.7L. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY DRIVEN 3-5 MILES AFTER THE FAN FRACTURE WHEN THE ENGINE FAILED. THERE IS A NHTSA RECALL, #06V1999000, REGARDING THE ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING: COOLING SYSTEM: FAN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED AND EXPLAINED THE VIN AND THE SIZE OF THE ENGINE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.

MY LOCAL JEEP DEALER ADVISES THAT MY 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO WITH 19,000 MILES HAS BAD BRAKES, BAD ROTORS, BAD CALIPERS, LOOSE BELTS (GOODYEAR TIRES) AND IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. HE SAYS THAT IS WHY WHEN I ATTEMPT TO BRAKE IF I AM GOING OVER 40 MPH THAT THE FRONT VIBRATES OR IF I ATTEMPT TO DRIVE AT 55 MPH THE ENTIRE CAR VIBRATES TO THE POINT THAT I FEEL A LOSS OF CONTROL. ON JUNE 10, 2006 MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO 2000 WAS BEING DRIVEN WHEN THERE WAS A LOUD POP UNDER THE HOOD. UPON INSPECTION THE FAN AND SHATTERED AND PUT HOLES IN THE RADIATOR, HOSES, SHROUD, AND OTHER PLACES ON THE CAR. MY HUSBAND DID ALL THE REPAIRS AND I STILL HAVE ALL THE OLD PARTS. AFTER WE HAD REPLACED THE FAN, RADIATOR AND HOSES WE FOUND OUT ABOUT THE RECALL IN THE LOCAL PAPER. UPON CALLING DAIMLER CHRYSLER I WAS TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND THAT BECAUSE I HAD NOT TAKEN MY JEEP TO A DEALER FOR REPAIR I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET REIMBURSED FOR THESE EXPENSES. *NM

THE BRAKE ROTORS ON MY 2000 JEEP CHEROKEE KEEP WARPING. I HAVE HEARD MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM FROM OTHER JEEP OWNERS. I ALSO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY ELECTRIC WINDOWS FAILING. ONCE AGAIN I HAVE HAD OTHERS TELL ME THE REGULATORS ON THE WINDOWS FAIL OFTEN WITH THE JEEPS. *NM
CAR WAS PARKED. WHEN STARTED THERE WAS A CRASHING SOUND UNDER THE HOOD. THE ELECTRIC FAN BLADE BROKE LOOSE AND BROKE THE FAN SHROUD AND PUNCTURED THE RADIATOR. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THIS FITS THE PENDING RECALL NUMBER F25. I REPORTED THIS TO CHRYSLER AND HAVE HAD NO REPLY. THE REPAIR COST $1300.00.*JB
