THE CONSUMER PLACED THE VEHICLE INTO PARK AND EXITED THE VEHICLE, SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE JUMPED OUT OF PARK AND INTO REVERSE, IN AN ATTEMPT TO STOP THE VEHICLE THE CONSUMER GRABBED THE STEERING WHEEL BUT WAS DRAGGED RESULTING IN BRUISES ALL OVER. NLM
AFTER SHIFTING VEHICLE INTO PARK, AND WITHOUT ANY INDICATION, VEHICLE STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS. CONSUMER WAS INJURED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK

WARPED ROTORS AT 9K MILES - DEALER TURNED ROTORS AT NO COST. WARPED ROTORS AT 16K MILES - DEALER REPLACED ROTORS AT NO COST. WARPED ROTORS AT 20K MILES - DEALER SAYS I HAVE POOR DRIVING HABITS AND THEY WILL NOT COVER THE ROTORS ANY MORE. WE WILL SEE ABOUT THAT! NEXT IS THE POWER STEERING GROAN MADE WHEN MAKING SLOW RIGHT HAND TURNS - DEALER REPLACED GEAR BOX ONCE. NOW THE NOISE IS HAPPENING INTERMITTENTLY - DEALER CAN'T FIX BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE NOISE. VEHICLE SHAKES UPON APPLYING BRAKES, PROBLEM IS WITH DEFECTIVE ROTORS, STARTED AT 8000 MILES, JEEP REFUSES TO REPLACE. NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM OTHERS WITH SAME PROBLEM. WHY IS NHTSA WAITING UNTIL A FATALITY OCCURS ?

AT APPROC 8000 MILES, PULATING OF BRAKES WAS NOTICED. WHEN COMING TO A GRADUAL STOP. AT APPROXIMATELY 10,000 CAR VIBRATED WHEN BRAKING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. I SPOKE TO THE HUFFINES SERVICE REP ON MAY 15, 2001 WHILE THE CAR WAS IN FOR A WARRANTY REPAIR , AT 15000 MILES, AFTER IT HAD LOST ALL POWER. (DISTRIBUTER PROBLEM). HE EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THE ROTORS, THRU FAST COOLING, TENDED TO WARP WITH ALL THE WEIGHT OF THE VEHICLE AND IT WAS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT FROM A SAFETY STANDPOINT AND IT WAS TYPICAL OF MANY CARS (EVEN HIS FORD DID IT, HE SAID). AGAIN, IN JUNE , 2001, I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER I BOUGHT IT FROM , ELDORADO, TO HAVE A WHINING NOISE ,. THE WHINING NOISE TOGETHER WITH THE WORSENING VIBRATION WHEN BRAKING CONCERNED ME AND TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER WHERE PURCHASED. THEY FOUND NOTHING AND ASSURED ME THAT THE VIBRATON WAS TYPIUCAL AND NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT, .HE SUGGESTED THAT IT WAS PROBABLY RELATED TO THE WAY IN WHICH I MANAGE THE BRAKES WHEN STOPPING. SINCE , THE VIBRATION HAS GOTTEN SO BAD THAT IT IS DIFFICULT TO STAY IN MY LANE STOPING AND IT IS VERY SCARY. I NOW HAVE 26,000 MILES AND AFTER RESEARCHING AND GOING TO A N INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, I DISCOVER THAT IT IS APPARENTLY A MANUFACTUERS PROBLEM WITH THE EQUIPMENT AND IN ORDER TO FIX, I MUST BUY NEW ROTORS AND PADS, PROBASBLY FOR FRONT AND BACK. I HAVE ALSO LEARNED THAT TWO OTHER FRIENDS WHO HAVE A 1999'S HAVE HAD TO HAVE THEIRS REPLACED AT VERY LOW MILEAGE. ONE OF THEM IS ON THEIR THIRD SET, AS ARE MANY LISTED ON THE NT WEB SITE. BRAKES SHOULD LAST MUCH LONGER AND WITH SUCH A DANGEROUS PROBLEM, YOU SHOULD BE CONCERNED. WHILE THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN OUT ON THE PROBLEM I LEARNED FROM THE SALES CUSTOMER SEERVICE REP AT THE DEALER THERE IS NOT YET ANY RECALL AND ACCORDING TO THE REP IT IS A TYPICAL PROBLEM. SHE IN FACT HAD HER REPLACE AT 14,000 MILES THE FIRST TIME AND THREE TIMES SINCE.. THIS IS A MANUFACTURER PROBLEM AND IT WOULD SEEM FROM A LIABILITY PERSPECTIVE THE MANUFACTUER WOULD WANT TO FIX .*AK
WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES AT SPEEDS OF 35-55 MPH THE ENTIRE VEHICLE SHAKES VIOLENTLY. THE STEERING WHEEL ALSO VIBRATES TO A POINT WHERE I FEEL I WILL LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I FIRST NOTICED THE PROBLEM AT 8,000 MILES AND I IMMEDIATELY NOTIFIED THE LES VOGEL DEALERSHIP WHO CHARGED ME $50.00 TO INSPECT THE BRAKE SYSTEM. AFTER THEIR INSPETION THEY TOLD ME THAT THE ROTORS WILL WARP WHEN THEY OVERHEAT AND CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO SHAKE AND THAT IT IS NOT A PROBLEM. NOW AT 21,000 MILES THE VIBRATING HAS INCREASED EVEN WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES AT LOWER SPEEDS. IT FEELS AS IF THE VEHICLE WILL NOT STOP IN TIME AND THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. *AK

SHUTTERING AND POOR VEHICLE CONTROL AT 70 MPH SLOW DOWN TO FULL BRAKING. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM. THE ROTORS HAVE BEEN TURNED, AND NOW NEED TO BE REPLACED AT 38,000 MILES. I THINK THAT AFTER READING ALL THE COMPLAINTS ON BRAKES FOR THIS VEHICLE, THAT THIS PROBLEM NEEDS SOME ATTENTION. *AK

WHILE TRAVELING 40 MPH AND MERGING ON HIGHWAY IT REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AT ANY TIME. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
DEALER CONTACTED BECAUSE BRAKES PULSATING AND UNEVEN STOPPING. DEALER REPLACED ROTORS WERE WARPED.DEALER SAID ROTORS WERE WARPED DUE TO HEAT GENERATION . THIS IS BEEN GOING ON FROM THE TIME I HAD THIS CAR TILL TODAY WITHOUT RESOLUTION. CHRYSLER KNOWS ANOUT IT AND DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO OTHER THAN REPLACE THE ROTORS WITH THE SAME ROTORS AND THE SAME THING KEEPS HAPPENING EVERY 3-4 MONTHS SINCE I OWNED THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE REPLACED THE ROTORS 4 TIMES KNOW AND MY CAR STILL HAS WARPED ROTORS AND CHRYSLER DOES NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO. WHEN I BRAKE IN HUGH SPEEDS ABRUPTLY THE SHATTERING IS SO INTENSE THAT I MIGHT LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I DO NOT KNOW TO WHOM TO TALK TO FIX THE PROBLEM. OTHER PEOPLE I HAVE TALKED TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SAME CAR. WE ARE GOING TO CREATE THE WARPED ROTOR CLUB. WHILE DRIVING 50MPH, WITHOUT WARNING, WHILE APPLYING BRAKES VEHICLE WILL VIBRATE VIOLENTLY. ALSO, STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SHAKE. *AK
I BOUGHT MY 2000 JEEP CHEROKEE NEW IN 2000, CURRENTLY HAVE 27,000 MILES ON IT AND ABOUT TO HAVE THE ROTORS REPLACED FOR THE 4TH TIME. ROTORS WARP EVERY 5000 TO 6000 MILES TO A POINT WHERE THE CAR IS UNDRIVEABLE. THE DEALER CONTINUES TO DENY THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE JEEP AND THE ROTOR WARPING IS DUE TO STOP AND GO DRIVING, WHICH IS IDIOTIC.*AK
UPON TURNING IGNITION TO START THE POSITION. GEAR AUTOMATICALLY SHIFTED INTO REVERSE. ALSO, OIL IN TRANSFER CASE WAS BURNED VERY BADLY. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
THE ROTORS ON THIS VEHICLE NEED TO BE RESURFACED AT 20,000 MILES. DEALER WILL NOT DO SO UNDER WARRANTY, EVEN THOUGH MANY JEEP OWERS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH THEIR VEHICLES. MECHANICS ALL BUT ADMITTED IT WAS A CHRONIC PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND A RIP OFF TO CONSUMERS. THIS IS MY 2ND JEEP PURCHASE, BUT WILL BE MY LAST IF RESTITUTION IS NOT MADE. VEHICLE IS TOO NEW TO NEED THIS KIND OF MAJOR WORK DONE TO IT FOR IT'S MILEAGE.*AK

COMPLAINED TO DEALER AT 9,000, 20,000 AND AGAIN AT 34,000 MILES AS WELL AS NUMEROUS TIMES WHILE AT DEALER FOR OIL CHANGES. ALWAYS TOLD THIS IS JUST HOW VEHICLE BRAKES UNTIL 34,000 WHEN TOLD THAT ALL PADS NEED REPLACEMENT AND ROTORS ARE WARPED. CHRYSLER REFUSES TO PAY OR ACKNOWLEDGE DEFECT DESPITE MY RECORD OF COMPLAINTS. RE: DRIVE SHAFT, VEHICLE CLUNKS AS STOPPING AND TAKES A LONG TIME SWITCHING GEARS. COMPLAINED AT 5,000, 9,000, 20,000, AND 34,000. DRIVE SHAFT SUPPOSEDLY REPLACED AT 5,000 AND 9,000 MILES, ALTHOUGH INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DOUBTS UPON REVIEW. CHRYSLER CONSIDERING ANOTHER REPLACEMENT AFTER 34,000 MILE COMPLAINT.*JB

NOW REPLACEMENT ROTORS ARE DOING THE EXACT SAME THING, BUT WORSE. VEHICLE IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY. VEHICLE HAS BEEN DRIVEN PRIMARILY ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS. ADDITIONALLY I HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS WITH MY 1996 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. *AK
I READ THROUGH EVERY SINGLE COMPLAINT ON HERE REGARDING JEEP ROTORS, AS I TOO AM IN THIS BATTLE WITH FAULTY BRAKES. WHAT'S IT GOING TO TAKE FOR YOU TO MAKE CHRYSLER RECALL THE 2000'S AND UPGRADE TO BETTER ROTORS AND PADS? IS IT BECAUSE WE ARE ALL CHECKING "NO" TO THE INJURIES AND FATALITIES CATEGORIES? OH I KNOW MAYBE WHEN SOMEONE YOUNG CELEBRITY DIES OR SOME CHRYSLER EXECUTIVE'S WIFE OR CHILD. I'M TIRED OF BEING TOLD ITS THE DRIVER BRAKING HABITS. THIS IS ONLY THE 8TH CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED FROM AGE 18 TO NOW 45. I TAKE GOOD CARE OF MY CARS AND HAVE NEVER BEEN IN A WRECK. DURIN THE FIRST 5000 MILES I FELT A THAT THE BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE ROTORS WERE WARPED. THEY WERE REPLACED UNDER THE WARRANTY. AT ABOUT 10000 MILES IN AUGUST OF 2001 I FELT THE SAME PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD THE ROTORS WERE WARPED. I WAS TOLD THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN, THAT IS NOT CORRECT THEY SHOULD LAST AT LEAST 30000. THEY REPLACED THEM BUT CHARGED ME HALF PRICE. NOW AT 16000 MILES, NINE MONTHS AFTER THE ROTORS WERE REPLACED I AM TOLD THAT THEY NEED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THIS IS A PROBLEM AND THE DEALER SHIP, CLAIR JEEP IN WEST ROXBURY, MA IS NOT HELPFUL AND TOLD ME THAT I DON'T DRIVE THE JEEP ENOUGH AND IF I DID THAT THIS PROBLE WOULDN'T OCCUR. I BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE CALIPERS THAT ARE CAUSING THE ROTORS TO WARP.*AK

THE FRONT ROTORS WERE REPLACED AT APPROX. 12000 MILES, 24000 MILES AND AGAIN AT APPROX. 36000 MILES. DEALER STATES THAT THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM IN OTHER LIKE VEHICLES. ALL REPAIRS WERE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY SO FAR.*AK

CONSUMER STATE WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL AT HIGH SPEED STEERING WHEEL WOULD SLIP OUT OF CONSUMER HAND AND THE BRAKE PEDAL VIBRATE. VEHICLE WAS SERVICE BY DEALER TECHNICIAN NOTICE PROBLEM WITH BRAKE SYSTEM. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. TS
