I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE BOTH FRONT WINDOW REGULATORS ON MY 2001 GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED WITH 45,000 MILES ON IT. BOTH TIMES THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE GOING AWAY ON VACATIONS. I HAVE A WARRANTY WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND HAVE HAD TO PAY $100 DEDUCTIBLE EACH TIME. FROM READING THIS SITE, IT SEEMS LIKE A KNOWN PROBLEM. DON'T KNOW WHY THERE ISN'T A RECALL ON THESE ITEMS. I HAVE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE TWO ELECTRONIC MODULES IN THE TRANSMISSION THAT THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME NEVER GO BAD. PAID OVER $800 FOR THESE, WHICH WERE NOT COVERED. *JB
2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED; THE BLEND AIR DOOR IS BROKEN. THEREFORE, ONLY COLD AIR BLOWS OUT OF THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR, INCLUDING THE DEFROSTER. KEEPING THE CAR DEFROSTED IN CERTAIN WINTER CONDITIONS IS DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM AND BASED ON TWO JEEP DEALERS THAT I HAVE TALKED TO (AND VARIOUS INTERNET SITES), THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR. *JB
WE PURCHASED A 2001 GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED FROM A LOCAL DEALERSHIP WITH 50,000 MILES IN MAY OF 2005. NO HEAT FROM BOTH PASSENGER OR DRIVERS SIDE VENTS. BLEND DOOR HINGES SEPARATED AND INOP. RECIRCULATION DOOR ALSO INOPERABLE VEHICLE HAD 53,500 MILES AT THIS TIME. DRIVERS SEAT HEATER FAILED AT 65,000 MILES. PCM FAILED AT 75,000 MILES AND THIS WAS THE ONLY REPAIR COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE JEEP NOW HAS 81,000 MILES AND WE HAVE HAD VIBRATION AND PEDAL PULSATION FROM THE FRONT BRAKES THREE TIMES SINCE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. *JB
MY PASSENGER SIDE AIR VENTS SUDDENLY STARTED BLOWING COLD AIR IN 2005. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE BLEND DOOR WHICH WOULD REQUIRE REMOVING THE WHOLE DASH AND COST APPROXIMATELY $800. I ASKED IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM SINCE IT APPEARED TO BE A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECTIVE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALL, BUT THAT MADE NO SENSE TO ME. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT I AM NOT ALONE IN THE PROBLEM. SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE ABOUT THIS BECAUSE MANY PEOPLE CAN'T AFFORD SUCH A COSTLY MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT REPAIR. *TR

MY HEATER AND DEFROSTER DOES NOT WORK. THIS IS KNOWN PROBLEM RELATED TO THE BLEND DOOR FAILURE WITH JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES WITH DUAL CLIMATE CONTROL. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS IN ICY WEATHER. *JB
1. WINDOW REGULATOR FAULTY: 1ST INCIDENT OCCURRED 9/2003 AT 40,000 MI; DRIVER WINDOW FELL DOWN DUE TO FAULTY WINDOW REGULATOR. ALTHOUGH WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED, MANUFACTURE REPLACED, CHARGED ME $50 DEDUCTIBLE. 2ND INCIDENT OCCURRED 11/05 AT 79,700 MI.; FRONT PASSING WINDOW, IT FELL DOWN DUE TO FAULTY WINDOW REGULATOR. DEALER STATED KNOWN PROBLEM, AS DID DAIMLER CHRYSLER, BUT TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA. WAS TOLD THAT IS WHAT EXTENDED WARRANTY IS FOR. (THEY APPARENTLY DO NOT BACK THEIR PRODUCT AND ARE NOT QUICK TO RESOLVE KNOWN DEFECTS.) 2. 12/2004 TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS (CLUTCH RING): CAR WOULD NOT GO IN REVERSE; SHIFTING ROUGH. WAS TOLD KNOWN PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD I WAS LUCKY THAT IT WASN'T THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION. REPAIRS APPROXIMATELY $600. 3. BRAKE PROBLEMS: WARPED ROTORS/CALIPERS/PADS REPLACED AT 24,000. I AM CURRENTLY ON 3RD SET OF BRAKES (JUST NOW HAVE 80,000 MI ON CAR). LAST SET DID NOT LAST A YEAR. PREMATURE WARPING, SQUEAKING BRAKES, RATTLING CAR, STEERING WHEEL, JUST LIKE THE OTHER COMPLAINTS LISTED AT NHTSA. HAVE HAD A FEW NEAR ACCIDENTS DUE TO THE SHAKING. REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE EXCEPT FOR THE 24,000 MI JOB. 4. EMISSIONS CODE ON CHECK ENGINE LIGHT: DUE TO FAULTY GAS CAP. DEALER CHARGED ME $100 FOR THE DIAGNOSTICS, AND ALMOST 18 FOR A GAS CAP. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THINK, AND FEEL IT IS SOMETHING THE MFG SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SINCE IT IS AN ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE. AGAIN, WAS TOLD I WAS LUCKY THAT IT WAS ONLY A GAS CAP?? WHY SHOULD I FEEL LUCKY WHEN I SPEND $28,000 FOR A CAR THAT HAS KNOWN ISSUES WITH THE MODEL AND THE MFG ACTS AS IF THEY DIDN'T CARE, AND TELLS ME I SHOULD PAY $2500 FOR AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. NO, THEY SHOULD FIX THE KNOWN PROBLEMS. WE PAY THAT MUCH UNDER THE MISCONCEPTION THAT THEY STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT. AS A RESULT, I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH TIRES WEARING OUT SOONER THAN THEY SHOULD AND FRONT END ALIGNMENT ISSUES. *JB
(1) NONE (2) THE HEATER TO MY 2001 GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED NO LONGER FUNCTIONED, ONLY COLD AIR FLOWED FROM THE AIR VENTS REGARDLESS OF THE TEMPERATURE SELECTED. (3) I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO A JEEP DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THE BLEND DOORS WERE BROKEN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE ESTIMATED COST WAS $1,400 AND THE EXTENDED WARRANTY I BOUGHT FROM CHRYSLER DID NOT COVER THE PROBLEM. I AM STILL SAVING UP MONEY SO THAT I CAN HAVE THE REPAIR DONE. THIS HAS CAUSED GREAT DISCOMFORT TO MYSELF AND MY PASSENGERS THESE PAST TWO WINTERS. *JB
VEHICLE BATTERY IN 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO WAS CHANGED 3 TIMES IN THE SPAN OF 9 MONTHS DUE TO BATTERY LOOSING POWER. IN JUNE 2005, THE 4TH BATTERY IN THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. PURCHASED NEW DIEHARD SUV BATTERY AND INSTALLED. ON NOV. 8, 2005, THE VEHICLES ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CAUGHT FIRE CAUSING THE BATTERY TO EXPLODE AND CAUSE OVER $4,000 IN DAMAGES. WIFE FEARS FOR HER LIFE AND LIFE OF 2 Y/O AND 6 Y/O WHO ARE TRANSPORTED IN VEHICLE TO BABYSITTER AND SCHOOL ON A DAILY BASIS. *NM
DT: CONTACT STATED THE FRONT END SHOOK VIOLENTLY. THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK FROM LEFT TO RIGHT. THE DEALER TOLD HER THE JEEP HAD BEEN BROUGHT TO DEALER AT LEAST THREE TIMES PRIOR TO THE CONTACT'S PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE FOR SAME PROBLEM, AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK UPDATED 12/7/2005. SEVERAL FRONT END PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED BUT THAT HAS NOT ALLEVIATED THE SHAKING PROBLEM. *NM
A/C DOES NOT WORK, ALWAYS COLD AIR WITHOUT HEAT. IT HAPPENED DURING WARRANTY PERIOD, IT HAD CREEP SOUND, BUT IT WENT TO BAD AFTER WARRANTY. *TR
WINDOWS FOG UP DUE TO FAILURE OF HVAC SYSTEM. FAILURE IS CAUSED BY A DEFECTIVE PART AND IS NOTED IN JEEP TSB (#24-001-04). JEEP HAS REDESIGNED THE HVAC HOUSING. THE FAILURE OF THIS PART CAN CAUSE THE WINDOWS TO QUICKLY FOG DUE TO THE FAILURE OF THE SYSTEM TO BLOW AIR OUT OF THE DEFROST VENTS. OUR FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING IN THE MORNING. THE FAILED PART IS A MODE DOOR ACTIVATOR (PART OF THE HVAC HOUSING). JEEP KNOWS THAT THIS PART FAILS AND HAS SINCE REDESIGNED THE PART. JEEP IS LETTING A KNOWN SAFETY DEFECT CONTINUE WITHOUT A RECALL. MOST LIKELY THIS IS DUE TO THE HIGH COST OF COMPONENT REPLACEMENT. FORTUNATELY WE DID NOT HAVE A TRAFFIC INCIDENT.*JB
DRIVING TO SCHOOL ONE DAY AND HEAT STOPPED WORKING ON DRIVER SIDE. STARTED TO BLOW COLD AIR INSTEAD. THE CONSEQUENCES ARE THAT IT IS REALLY COLD WHEN DRIVING IN THE WINTER. I AM A COLLEGE STUDENT AND DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO FIX THE MID-CASE BLEND ASSEMBLY AND THE AIR RECIRCULATION ASSEMBLY. REPAIR SHOP COST IS $900.00. *TR
LIKE MANY, THE HVAC BLEND AND RECIRCULATION DOORS FAILED PREMATURELY, ALONG WITH THE EVAPORATOR CORE. THE FX INVOLVED REMOVAL OF THE DASH, WHICH WILL NEVER BE RIGHT AGAIN, AND APPROXIMATELY $2000 IN REPAIRS.*JB
I WALKED OUT OF MY HOUSE THIS MORNING AND FOUND THAT MY REAR PASSENGER WINDOW HAD SLID DOWN LEAVING MY 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OPEN. THIS IS THE 4TH WINDOW THAT HAS DONE THIS (INCLUDING ONE WHERE MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A PUBLIC PARKING LOT AND THE DRIVERS WINDOW AS I WAS APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT IN A BAD NEIGHBORHOOD). I FILED A REPORT WHEN THE THIRD WINDOW DROPPED AS WELL. I CALLED CHRYSLER BOTH THIS TIME AND LAST TIME AND THEY WEREN'T INTERESTED AND SUGGESTED THAT IF IT'S A PROBLEM THEN I SHOULD CALL YOU.
DT: CONTACT TOOK VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP TO HAVE YEARLY MAINTENANCE DONE. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD HIM THE TIRES WERE DRY ROTTED. ALSO, THE CHROME RIMS WERE CORRODED. THE PLATING INSIDE THE RIMS WAS CORRODED. HE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP, THEY TOLD HIM THEY WOULD REPLACE TWO OF THE WHEELS, BUT HE WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE OTHER TWO AT HIS EXPENSE.*AK UPDATED 12/27/05. *JB
BLEND DOOR ON AIR CONDITIONE/HEATER FAIED. IT COST OVER $1000 TO HAVE FIXED TO GET THE HEATER BACK OPERATIONAL ONLY TO HAVE IT FAIL LESS THAN A YEAR LATER WHICH THE DEALERSHIP WON'T WARRANTY. *AK
THERE ARE TWO PROBLEMS WITH THIS MODEL OF JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO. 1) THE TAIL LIGHT SOCKET IN THIS MODEL OF JEEPS CONSTANTLY BURNS OUT. I HAVE REPLACED THIS SOCKET NUMEROUS TIMES AT $8.00 - $10.00 EACH AND HAVE KEPT ALL OF THE BURNED OUT SOCKETS AS EVIDENCE. WHEN THE SOCKET BURNS OUT, THE TAIL LIGHTS STOP WORKING ONCE YOU TURN THE HEADLIGHTS ON. MY VEHICLE HAS AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHTS AND THIS TRULY CAUSES A BIG PROBLEM. I'VE VISITED A JEEP / CHRYSLER JUNK YARD IN MY AREA AND CHECKED EACH TAIL LIGHT SOCKET. EACH SOCKET IS BURNED OUT LIKE EACH OF THE SOCKETS THAT I HAVE IN MY POSSESSION. 2) THE OUTSIDE RAIL THAT CONNECTS THE DRIVERS SEAT TO THE RISERS BREAKS, CONVERTING THE DRIVERS SEAT TO A ROCKING CHAIR. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH THE SERVICE AND PARTS DEPARTMENTS ALL OF THE JEEP DEALERS IN A 100 MILE RADIUS OF ZIP CODE (20744) AND WAS TOLD THAT THESE ISSUES ARE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH JEEPS FROM 1994 TO 2004. I HAVE ALSO SPOKEN WITH SEVERAL FRIENDS AS WELL AS COMMON STRANGERS WHO I SEE WITH THIS SAME MODEL JEEP AND HAVE LEARNED THAT THEY ALSO HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND THE BELOW PROBLEMS. I BELIEVE THAT THIS PROBLEMS ARE A SAFETY ISSUE AND WARRANT A SAFETY RECALL. I HAVE RECEIVED TWO TICKETS ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR THE TAIL LIGHTS ALONE. I CAN UNDERSTAND HAVING TO CHANGE A LIGHT BULB EVERY YEAR OR TWO BUT NOT THE SOCKET THAT THE BULB PLUGS INTO. THIS IS A SERIOUS DEFECT THAT CHRYSLER WILL NOT ADDRESS. PLEASE HELP!*JB
MY 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAD A DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION CABLE. THIS MORNING WHEN I MOVED THE TRUCK FROM THE DRIVEWAY, I PUT IT IN PARK AND PROCEEDED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ROLL DOWN THE ROAD. I QUICKLY REACTED AND ENGAGED THE PARKING BRAKE. I HAVE TWO SMALL CHILDREN AND MY WIFE USUALLY DRIVES THE TRUCK. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING, THE RESULTS COULD HAVE BEEN DEVASTATING. *JB
I WAS NEVER TOLD THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH 1999-2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES AIR CONDITIONING UNITS FAILING?! WHY HAS JEEP DONE NOTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM!?! I AM NOW STUCK WITH A JEEP THAT HAS UNCONTROLLABLE AIR CONDITIONING MALFUNCTIONS.. I AM VERY UPSET WITH JEEP. *JB

AIR COND. AND HEATER DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY AIR IS BLOWING OUT THROUGH THE TOP.
APPROXIMATELY 5 YEARS AGO, THE HEAT STOPPED WORKING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF MY 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THEN LAST YEAR, THE HEAT AND A/C STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY. THIS MAKES FOR VERY DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS AS VISIBILITY IS GREATLY REDUCED AT TIMES. ITS TOO COSTLY FOR ME TO REPAIR MYSELF. IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM FOR MOST OF THESE VEHICLES AND I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY SOMETHING HASN'T BEEN DONE ABOUT IT. ALSO, THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT HEATING ELEMENT STOPPED WORKING AFTER IT APPARENTLY SHORTED OUT, LUCKILY, NO FIRE OCCURRED. AND THE HYDRAULICS THROUGH OUT THE VEHICLE HAVE STOPPED WORKING AND I NOTICED THIS WHEN FIRST THE HOOD CAME DOWN ON MY HEAD AND THEN THE REAR WINDOW! I'VE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE ENGINE AND IT WAS DUE TO PROBLEMS WITH THE COOLANT/HYDRAULIC FAN...AT A PRICE TAG OF $4000.00... *TR
MY AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY DURING FRONT END ACCIDENT IN WHICH BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER WERE INJURED. ALSO REAR PASSENGER SAFETY BELT DID NOT LOCK AND CAUSED CHILD IN BOOSTER SEAT TO HIT THE BACK OF FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. CHILD HAD FACE AND EYE INJURIES. *NM
TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAD A FAILURE IN THE BLOWER MOTOR CONTROL MODULE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAD THE BLOWER MOTOR CONTROL MODULE REPLACED 2 YEARS AGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 20 MPH THIS VEHICLE COMPARTMENT FILLED WITH SMOKE. HE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THEREWAS A LARGE NUMBER OF VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, AND THEY COULD NOT GET THE PART IN FAST ENOUGH TO MAKE ALL OF THE REPAIRS. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY HAD 15 BACK ORDERS FOR THE BLOWER MOTOR CONTROL MODULES. THE CONTACT WOULD LIKE NHTSA TO BE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM.*AK THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS A MINOR FIRE. UPDATED 03/15/07. *JB
ENGINE OVER-HEATS WHEN VEHICLE IS SITTING STILL AND IDLING. THE FAN DOESN'T START WHEN THE TEMPERATURE RISES. THIS LEADS TO EXCESSIVE HEAT BUILDUP AND POSSIBLE ENGINE DAMAGE. THE FAN MOTOR IS BEING REPLACED FOR THE SECOND TIME AND THE CONTROL MODULE FOR THE THIRD TIME. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE FAN MOTOR IS DRAWING TOO MUCH AMPERAGE. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IN THE PAST YEAR. *NM
THE EVENT LEADING TO THE WINDOW REGULATOR BRAKING WAS USE OF THE WINDOW. THE REGULATOR FAILED AT 32,485 MILES. THE WINDOW WOULD NOT STAY UP. THE JEEP DEALER WAS ABLE TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM WITH NEW PARTS. I HAVE FOUND WHILE LOOKING THROUGH THE NHTSA WEBSITE THAT THIS IS YET ONE MORE EXAMPLE OF CHRYSLER'S POOR QUALITY COMPONENTS THAT I CAN LOOK FORWARD TO REPLACING REGULARLY JUST AS I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE WARPED ROTORS EVERY 12,000 TO 15,000 MILES. *JB
DT: IN TWO WEEKS HAD BOTH FRONT WINDOW MOTORS REPLACED. THE FIRST ONE WAS THE PASSENGER SIDE AND CURRENTLY THE DRIVERS SIDE. DEALER REPLACED THE PASSENGER SIDE MOTOR ,AND THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALER FOR THE DRIVERS SIDE. MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN CONTACTED YET.*AK
I PURCHASED A NEW JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO IN MAY OF 2001. IN JULY 2005, I NOTICED A PULSATION IN THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN DECELERATING FROM HIGHWAY SPEEDS GREATER THAN FORTY MPH. THE DEALER SAID THE ROTORS WERE WARPED, AND RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS. THE COST WOULD BE OVER $300.00. THE CAR HAS 13,00 MILES. BUT IT IS OVER 3 YEARS OLD, SO REPAIRS ARE NOT COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTY. THIS PROBLEM IS VERY COMMON, AND APPEARS TO BE LINKED TO THE CALIPERS AS WELL AS THE ROTORS. REPLACING THE CALIPERS WITH DESIGN, AS WELL AS THE ROTORS AND PADS REPORTEDLY ELIMINATED RECURRENT PROBLEMS. IS A RECALL JUSTIFIED TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM? *JB
MY BRAKES WERE REPLACED AT APPROX. 8,000 MILES, 12,000, 18,000 AND 25,000 I ONLY DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO WORK. THE MANUFACTURE REPAIRED IT THE TIMES FOR FREE. I BELIEVE THE VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE COME WITH A HEAVIER BRAKING SYSTEM. I SPENT ON 07/02/2005 ABOUT $450.00 TO REPAIR THE BAKES MYSELF. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THE NEXT BRAKE JOB I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE ALL FOUR ROTORS.
FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW FALLS INTO DOOR BECAUSE OF BROKEN REGULATOR. REPLACED 6 MAY 2005. FRONT DRIVER SIDE WINDOW FALLS INTO DOOR BECAUSE OF BROKEN REGULATOR ON 25 JUNE 2005.
STEERING WHEEL STARTS SHAKING VIOLENTLY WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE RODE AT 50-60MPH. THIS HAPPENS AT RANDOM WITH NO WARNING, FORCING YOU TO PULL OFF THE ROAD TO AVOID LOSING CONTROL. HAVE TAKEN VEHICLE IN TO TRY AND DETERMINE THE PROBLEM AND THIS HAS NOT BEEN DETERMINED. THIS IS STILL OCCURRING AND HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS REPORTS ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. ALSO ONE STATE IS ATTEMPTING TO FILE A CLASS ACTION SUIT OVER THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND THEY HAVE DOCUMENTED MY COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. ALSO THEY SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRIC WINDOWS IN THESE VEHICLES, THE ROTOR FAILS AND THE WINDOW WILL CANNOT BE PUT UP OR IT WILL GO DOWN BY ITSELF. HAVE HAD 2 WINDOW ROTORS REPLACED WITHIN ONE WEEK.
DT: THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP. THEY SAID THERE WERE FEW PROBLEMS WITH IT FROM THE MANUFACTURER. TOOK TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP BECAUSE THE OWNERS MANUAL SAID THAT IT COULD BE FROM TRANSMISSION SLIPPING. *AK THE ORIGINAL PARTS ON THE TRANSMISSION WERE REPLACED DUE TO FAILURE. *JB
HEATING SYSTEM WORKED FINE UNTIL WARM AIR SUDDENLY STOPPED BLOWING OUT OF VENTS. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT THEY PROBABLY DO ABOUT 3 OR 4 A WEEK. TOTAL REPAIR BILL WAS $780. I DIDN'T HAVE THIS KIND OF MONEY AND IT APPARENTLY WAS NEVER RECALLED, JUST TSB. IT HAS BEEN TWO WINTERS NOW DRIVING WITH EXTREMELY FOGGED WINDOWS DUE TO NO HEAT. JEEP HAS DONE NOTHING TO HELP WITH THIS HUGE EXPENSE. *JB
I HEAR A HONKING NOISE AND FEEL VIBRATIONS WHEN MAKING SLOW LEFT HAND TURNS (EX. PARKING). THE SLOWER AND TIGHTER THE TURN, THE LOUDER THE NOISE AND THE MORE VIBRATION. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AT LEAST 4 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT.
PLASTIC BRACKET THAT HOLDS METAL WIRE END IN PLACE THAT SUPPORTS A ROLLED UP REAR PASSENGER DOOR WINDOW SNAPPED CAUSING THE WINDOW TO FALL INTO THE DOOR. THE WINDOW REGULATOR PIECE WAS REPLACED AT A COST OF $240.00. ONE WEEK LATER, THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR SUFFERED THE SAME FATE. VEHICLE HAS 41,000 MILES ON IT. PLASTIC PIECE DOESN'T SUPPORT THE POWER OR TORQUE THAT THE MOTOR IS PUTTING ON IT.
BRAKE ROTORS WARP APPROXIMATELY EVERY 4,000-5,000 MILES. THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED 6 TIMES UNDER WARRANTY AND ARE READY FOR THE 7TH. THE 1ST TIME THEY WERE REPLACED, THE CALIPERS WERE REPLACED ALSO UNDER A TSB. BACK BRAKE ROTORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE - ONCE AT MY COST & ONCE UNDER WARRANTY. DEALER & MANUFACTURER NO LONGER WISH TO ASSIST IN REMEDYING THE PROBLEM. THEY SEEM TO THINK THEY HAVE REPLACED THEM ENOUGH TIMES, EVEN THOUGH THE PROBLEM CONTINUES TO OCCUR. I'VE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AT THIS WEBSITE. WHEN IS CHRYSLER GOING TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE DESIGN DEFECT?

HAD FRONT BRAKE ROTORS REPLACED TWICE DUE TO WARPING AND DC PAID EVENTUALLY AS WARRANTY OR GOOD FAITH BY DC OR DEALER (LAST WAS DUE TO NEW SERVICE BULLETIN); BRAKE ROTORS STILL WARPING IN SERVICE AT 39,000 MILES--DEALER REFACED ROTORS AGAIN (3RD TIME) AND AT MY REQUEST REPLACED REAR BRAKE PADS--NOT WARRANTY WORK OR GOOD FAITH; I HAD TO PAY $400. DEALER ADMITS ROTORS STILL MAY ONLY LAST 5,000 MILES SINCE DC JEEP HAS POORLY UNDERDESIGNED THE BRAKING SYSTEM. WHY WON'T DC JEEP FIX PROBLEM AND REIMBURSE FOR REPAIRS TO INFERIOR EQUIPMENT?
PURCHASED '01 JEEP NEW. DRIVER SIDE HEATED SEAT DID NOT WORK FROM DAY ONE. HEATING ELEMENT REPLACED AT 1,400 MILES BY DEALER. APPROXIMATELY 2004/60K PS HEATED SEAT STOPPED WORKING. APPROXIMATELY 2005/90K WHILE DRIVING DRIVER SIDE HEATED SEAT BECAME UNBEARABLY HOT AND SMOKING. PULLED CAR OVER, TURNED OFF SWITCH, HAVE NOT TURNED ON SINCE FOR FEAR OF CAR FIRE. *JB
I HAVE A 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE THAT I PURCHASED NEW. WITHIN THE LAST MONTH I HAVE HAD TWO POWER WINDOW FAILURES. THIS CAR IS PRIMARILY DRIVEN BY MY WIFE AND HAS ONLY OPENED AND CLOSED THE WINDOWS ON OCCASSIONS. THIS APPEARS TO BE A DEFECT IN THE POWER WINDOW MECHANISM.
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE ALL FOUR WINDOW REGULATORS OVER A PERIOD OF TIME FROM APRIL 2005-AUGUST 2007. I WILL BE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND MY WINDOW STARTS SLOWLY DROPPING. THE ONLY WAY TO THEN RAISE THE WINDOW IS TO PAY AROUND $466 TO REPLACE THE REGULATOR. CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS BEEN NO HELP. *TR
I'VE BEEN HAVING CONTINUING PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES AND ROTORS ON MY 2001 JEEP CHEROKEE WHICH I PURCHASED NEW. THE ROTORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES DURING 2002/2003 AND NOW THE PROBLEM HAS SURFACED AGIN. FRONTEND OF VEHICLE SHIMMIES WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED, STEERING OF VEHICLE IS IMPAIRED. DEALERSHIP STATES THAT THE BRAKES ARE A DESIGN FLAW AND ARE "RECOMMENDED TO BE REPLACED BUT NOT RECALLED" . COST OF REPLACEMENT IS $800.00 FOR NEW BRAKES SYSTEM PACKAGE FROM JEEP/CHRYSLER. ALSO STEEL BRAKE LINES ARE RUSTED/ROTTED.
THE O-RINGS IN THE FUEL PUMP HAVE APPARENTLY FAILED ACCORDING TO HUFFINES JEEP IN PLANO, TX. THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THE O-RINGS SINCE 1999. I DO NOT FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS OF AN OBVIOUSLY FAULTY PART. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 65,000 MILES ON IT.*AK
VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE. OWNER WAS CONCERNED THAT DRIVER'S SEAT WAS MAKING NOISE, AND RESULTS SHOWED THAT FRAME ON THE SEAT BROKE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, WHICH COULD NOT PROVIDE PROPER SAFETY IF THE VEHICLE WERE TO BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT.*AK...*AK
CONTACT STATES: "FAN BURNOUT" ALSO EXPERIENCING BRAKE AND WATER PUMP LEAKAGE. THESE PROBLEMS OCCUR ONLY WHILE DRIVING LONG DISTANCES. ALREADY REPAIRED THE FAN OUT OF POCKET. HAS YET TO FIX WATER PUMP LEAK OR BRAKE ISSUE, A RECURRING PROBLEM .
THE REAR HATCH, DOOR AND GLASS, WILL NOT OPEN. IT BEGAN SELECTIVELY UNLOCKING AND NOW NO COMPONENTS WORK. THE ONLY WAY TO ACCESS IT IS BY REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY AND IT NO LONGER OPERATES. I ALSO CANNOT REPAIR MY TAIL LIGHTS DUE TO IT NOT OPENING.*AK

CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT A BRAKE ROTOR PROBLEM. TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, AND WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS POSSIBLE THAT THE PADS WERE DIFFERENT FROM THE PADS THAT WERE RECOMMENDED FOR THIS VEHICLE, GIVING THE DRIVER A SPONGY EFFECT WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, WHO WAS NOT TRYING TO REMEDY THIS BRAKE ROTOR PROBLEM. *AK
