SEAT BECAME VERY HOT STARTED TO SMELL LIKE BURNING .HAD TO PULLOVER TILL IT COOLED DOWN.SEAT QUIT WORKING.THE SEATS HAD PREVIOUS REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY.AROUND 2003-2004. *TR
EXTREME WOBBLE IN FRONT END HAPPENS WHEN THERE IS A BUMP IN THE ROAD. HAPPENS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. VIOLENT FRONT WHEEL WOBBLE. SPENT $1600 IN REPAIRS AND $600 ON NEW TIRES. THE ISSUE IS STILL THERE. I TALKED TO A MAN TODAY WITH A JEEP THE SAME MODEL AND YEAR AS MINE AND HE HAS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I WAS FOLLOWING HIM AT 45MPH AND HIS RIGHT FRONT WHEEL STARTED THE WOBBLE AND HE PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND I STOPPED AND TALKED TO HIM ABOUT IT. *TR
I AM CONCERNED THAT MY AFTER MARKET TOWING PACKAGE IS NOT UP TO CODE TO PROTECT MY FAMILY FROM A REAR END COLLISION. I UNDERSTAND THAT MY MODEL JEEP IS AT HIGH RISK FOR REAR END COLLISION FATALITIES. *TR
SWERVED OFF THE ROAD UP AN EMBANKMENT HITTING TELEPHONE POLE, ROLLED OVER A FEW TIMES HITTING A TREE, GUARD RAIL, THEN COMING TO REST ON DRIVERS SIDE. *TR
MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER WITH DIFFICULTY. I THEN PUT IN PARK AND WAS ABLE TO GET ENGINE STARTED AND DROVE BACK HOME. MY HUSBAND CHECKED OUT AND THOUGHT I MIGHT HAVE BUMPED THE KEY SINCE I NEED THE SEAT SO CLOSE IN ORDER TO TOUCH THE PEDALS. I HEARD ON THE TV THERE WAS A RECALL ON MODELS 2005-2007. WHY NOT ON OLDER? IF I HAD BEEN GOING ANY FASTER I MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO STEER TO THE SIDE. *TR
THERE IS A PROBLEM WHICH MOST EVERYBODY EXPERIENCES ON 1999 AND UP JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES. THE AIRBAG LIGHT AND CHIME CONTINUOUSLY , RANDOMLY. THIS LIGHT AND CHIME INDICATED THE AIRBAG IS INOPERATIVE. THIS IS TYPICALLY DUE TO A FAULTY UNRELIABLE DESIGNED "CLOCKSPRING" IN STEERING WHEEL UNDER THE AIRBAG ASSY. THIS IS VERY COSTLY TO FIX AND SHOULD DEFINITELY BE RECALLED FOR REPAIR NO CHARGE TO CUSTOMER. PLEASE RESEARCH AND YOU WILL FIND THAT THIS IS EXTREMELY WIDE SPREAD. THERE IS A FEAR THAT BAG MAY DEPLOY WHILE DRIVING DUE TO SHORT IN SYSTEM. THIS WOULD BE CATASTROPHIC. PLEASE INVESTIGATE ASAP, THIS IS URGENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THE TIPM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
MY JEEP IS DOING SEVERAL THINGS THAT IS CAUSE FOR NOT DRIVING IT BECAUSE IT CAN CAUSE A ACCIDENT. IT DOES NOT ALWAYS JUST START. I HAVE TO MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL UP & DOWN ^ THEN IT WILL START GENERALLY. WHEN DRIVING THE JEEP WILL REV UP ALL OF A SUDDEN ESPECIALLY AT STOP SIGNS. IF I DIDN'T HAVE MY FOOT ON THE BRAKES I COULD HAVE CAUSED A ACCIDENT. ALSO I WOULD HAVE TO KEEP MY FOOT ON THE GAS OR IT WOULD DIE ON ME. THESE THINGS HAVE BEEN GOING ON FOR THE LAST 2-3 MONTHS.WHEN I PUT MY JEEP IN REVERSE OR IN DRIVE IT MAKES A MAJOR CLUNKING NOISE LIKE MY TRANSMISSION IS READY TO FALL OUT. SAFETY RECALL M35/ NHTSA 12V-527. OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE FILTER CIRCUIT. TOOK MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE. IT WAS IN THE DEALER SERVICE BAY FOR IN EXCESS OF 8 HOURS AND NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE RECALL DEFECT REPAIR WAS NOT MADE. DEALER IS TUTTLE CLICK, INC. IRVINE,CA 92618
WHILE DRIVING THE DRIVERS SEAT STARTED TO LEAN TOWARD THE PASSENGER SIDE, I SLOWED THE JEEP DOWN AND PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I DID NOT SEE ANY OBVIOUS DAMAGE TO THE SEATING BRACKETS/MOUNTS. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE AND THE PROBLEM PROGRESSIVELY GOT WORSE. THE JEEP WAS TAKING TO THE AUTO SHOP ON JAN 2, 2014 AND THE MECHANICS TIGHTENED THE BRACKETS. JAN 4 THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN AND AGAIN IS PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE. DUE TO FINANCES I AM UNABLE TO GET THE ENTIRE SEATING SYSTEM FIXED. *TR
THIS A IS KNOWN (VERY COMMON) PROBLEM ON MOST JEEPS AFTER A CERTAIN MILEAGE. THE AIR BAG LIGHT AND BELL ALARM CONSTANTLY CHIME TO LET YOU KNOW THAT THE AIRBAG IS NOT ACTIVE OR INOP, AND WONT WORK. THERE IS A PART IN THE STEERING WHEEL UNDER AIR-BAG CALLED A "CLOCK-SPRING" THAT GOES BAD ON TENS OF THOUSANDS OF JEEPS. THEY (CHRYSLER) KNOW ABOUT IT. IT SHOULD BE RECALLED,BUT THEY IGNORE THE SAFETY HAZARD AND DEFECTIVE DESIGN. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED ON ALL MODELS AFFECTED NOT JUST ONE YEAR (WHICH I THINK IS 2004). *TR
I CALLED JEEP, THEY STATED THAT VIN NUMBER IS NOT PART OF CURRENT RECALL. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO REPAIR BOTH DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SEAT WARMER SYSTEM THAT WAS NO LONGER WORKING, AND HASN'T WORKED FOR YEARS. I DISCOVERED THAT THE FACTORY INSTALLED HEATED SEATS HAD APPARENTLY SHORTED OUT AND CAUSED THE FOAM CUSHION IN THE PASSENGER SEAT TO CATCH FIRE. I HAVE NOT CHECKED DRIVERS SEAT YET. THE WIRING HAD BURNED A HOLE APPROXIMATELY 4 INCHES LONG AND 1-2 INCHES DEEP. FORTUNATELY, THE FIRE DID NOT SPREAD FAR WITHIN THE SEAT. UPON DOING AN ONLINE SEARCH, IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. JEEP REPAIRED THE HEATERS 2-3 TIMES WITHIN THE FIRST 5 YEARS AND THEY WOULD STOP WORKING WITHIN 2 YEARS, IT WAS TOO EXPENSIVE TO CONTINUALLY HAVE THEM REPAIR. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE HEATED SEAT WAS ACTIVATED AND A HIGH VOLTAGE OF HEAT PENETRATED FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE SEAT. THERE WAS A RECALL RELATED TO THE FAILURE UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V117000 (SEATS), HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD YESTERDAY IN MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND THE THROTTLE WENT WIDE OPEN ON ME, I TRIED TO GET IT TO STOP BY TAPPING THE GAS THINKING IT WAS JUST A LITTLE STUCK, BUT IT WOULD NOT STOP SO I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER, HAD TO SLAM IT INTO GEAR, GOT OUT AND RAN INTO A GAS STATION AND HAD THEM CALL 911, CAME BACK OUT AND MY JEEP WAS SHOOTING FLAMES OUT OF MY EXHAUST AND THE ENTIRE UNDER CARRIAGE WAS GLOWING RED. RESULTING IN A LOSS OF MY SERPENTINE BELT, POWER STEERING PULLEY, MELTED MY TRANSFER CASE, AND MORE THAT IS YET TO BE INSPECTED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 45 MPH WHEN MY JEEP ACCELERATED, I TRIED TAPPING THE GAS PEDAL IN HOPES THAT IT WOULD AFFECT IT. THAT DIDN'T HELP, I HAD BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE, I PULLED THE E-BREAK AND IT STILL WOULDN'T STOP AND I WAS REDLINING. I FINALLY SAW A REDLIGHT AND DECIDED TO THROW IT IN PARK AND IT ROLLED ANOTHER 50 FEET OR SO BEFORE FINALLY COMING TO A STOP. I JUMPED OUT AND RAN BECAUSE IT WAS STILL STUCK AND REDLINING. EVERYTHING UNDER THE JEEP WAS RED AND FINALLY FLAMES STARTED COMING OUT OF THE EXHAUST. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT HOSED IT DOWN FOR ABOUT TEN MINUTES BEFORE TAKING THE KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION. *TR
NOTHING HAS HAPPENED AT THIS POINT, HOWEVER I AM VERY CONCERNED WITH THIS FUEL TANK ISSUE. I HAVE 3 SMALL CHILDREN THAT RIDE IN WHAT WOULD BE THE MOST DANGEROUS PLACE SHOULD I GET RE-ENDED AND HAVE A FIRE/EXPLOSION. I THINK IT IS ABSURD THAT THEY ARE REFUSING THE RECALL OR OFFERING A FIX. I CANNOT AFFORD TO GO BUY A NEW VEHICLE AND HAD I KNOWN ABOUT THIS ISSUE, I CERTAINLY WOULD HAVE NEVER PURCHASED IT. I SEEN ON THE NEW THE GAS TANK FOR A RECALL I WOULD LIKE MY NAME PUT ON A LIST OF OWNERS THAT HAVE THIS JEEP SO WHEN RECALL COMES OUT SOMEONE WILL HAVE MY NAME TO SEND RECALL TO. THE SEAT BRACKETS IN MY JEEP STARTED TO BREAK APART AROUND 2013, NOW THE BRACKETS ARE ALMOST COMPLETELY BROKEN APART. I AM DRIVING WITH THE SEAT LEANING AND ROCKING BACK AND FORTH THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I'VE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THERE IS NO RECALL. THEY TRANSFER ME TO A NUMBER WHERE I CAN FIND OUT ABOUT RECALLS THEY ALSO SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THIS PARTICULAR MODEL. IN MY RESEARCH I FOUND OUT THAT THERE ARE SEAT BRACKET PROBLEMS WITH JEEPS AND THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR
1. I'LL BE DRIVING AND THE JEEP WOULD JUST CUT OFF ON IT'S OWN. 2. AFTER DRIVING FOR AWHILE THE JEEP WILL TAKE UP TO 15 MINUTES TO START. 3. THE DRIVER SIDE BRAKE LIGHT KEEP BLOWING, I HAVE TO CHANGED THEM CHANGE THE BULB ABOUT EVERY 3 DAYS.
PASSENGER SIDE WARM AIR FLOW FROM HEATER STOPPED. ONLY COLD AIR BLOWS OUT. DRIVER SIDE IS OPERATING FINE. EVIDENTLY THE AIR BLEND DOOR HAS FAILED. THIS APPEARS TO BE A CHRONIC PROBLEM WITH THIS JEEP VINTAGE. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY A RECALL HAS NEVER BEEN ISSUED FOR THIS COMMON DESIGN FAILURE. THE FIX IS VERY EXPENSIVE AND INVOLVES REMOVING THE WHOLE DASH. HOWEVER, MOPAR EVEN MAKES A REPAIR KIT FOR THIS ISSUE KIT #K6855685AB, THAT DOES NOT INVOLVE REMOVING THE DASH. JEEP SHOULD BE FORCED TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES AND CORRECT THEIR DESIGN FLAW. *TR
I WAS DRIVING IN THE RAIN GOING THE SPEED LIMIT. MY JEEP HIT A POOL OF WATER ON THE SURFACE OF THE HIGHWAY AND STARTED TO SKID AND HYDROPLOANE. THE NEXT THING I KNEW IT WAS FLIPPING OVER AND LANDED ON THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. I WAS LUCKY TO BE WEARING MY SEAT BELT. I WAS SUSPENDED UPSIDE DOWN BY MY SEATBELT. I WAS ABLE TO UNBUCKLE IT AND CRAWL OUT THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW WHICH WAS COMPLETELY BLOWN OUT. SECONDS AFTER I GOT OUT OF THE CAR IT BURST INTO FLAMES AND THE ENTIRE VEHICLE WAS ENGULFED AND BURNED COMPLETELY INSIDE AND OUT. THERE WAS NOTHING LEFT OF IT BUT BURNT FRAME. AS SOON AS THE CAR CAME TO A STOP UPSIDE DOWN, I SMELLED GAS AND JUST A MINUTE OR TWO LATER THE CAR WAS TOTALLY BURNED UP. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEATING ELEMENTS MALFUNCTIONED AND RECOMMENDED THAT THE ELEMENTS BE REPLACED. SUBSTANDARD TEVES CALIPERS ON THE FRONT BRAKES CAUSE BRAKE PEDAL VIBRATION WITHIN 5000 MILES. RESOLUTION IS TO REPLACE THE TEVES CALIPER WITH AN AKEBONO CALIPER. THIS WAS COVERED IN A TSB, BUT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT, THE CONTACT NOTICED A LARGE AMOUNT OF WHITE SMOKE EMITTING FROM THE TAIL PIPE. THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE READING INCREASED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHO STATED THAT THE HYDRAULIC FAN MODULE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. ADDITIONALLY, THE HEAT WOULD NOT ACTIVATE. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE BLEND DOOR WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE BLEND DOOR WAS REPLACED BUT FAILED A SECOND TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. DUE TO THE BLEND DOOR BREAKAGE/FAILURE, VISABILITY IS AFFECTED BECAUSE THIS CAUSES THE DEFOGGER/DEFROSTER SYSTEM TO NOT WORK PROPERLY. THIS CREATES POOR VISABILITY AND A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR

DRIVER'S SEAT LH SEAT BASE FRAME CRACKED THROUGH AND BROKE OFF. SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH A LOT OF JEEP MODELS. DRIVERS SEAT BECAME A "ROCKING CHAIR" WITH POTENTIAL TO BE THROWN FROM THE VEHICLE DURING A CRASH OR LOSE CONTROL OF VEHICLE IF SEAT COMPLETELY COMES OFF THE FRAME. WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN RECALLED ALREADY WITH THE LARGE NUMBER OF VEHICLES IMPACTED? *JS
FOR THE PAST YEAR MY 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO LIMITED HAS BEEN OVERHEATING IF WE IDLE FOR MORE THAN 1-2 MINUTES. AS LONG AS THE RPMS DON'T GO OVER 2000 IT WILL HAPPEN. I WENT ON A TRIP LAST MAY UP A CANYON. DROVE ABOUT 50 MILES TO THE CANYON AND ALL WAS FINE. WHILE GOING UP THE CANYON SPEEDS STAYED BELOW 20 MPH BECAUSE WE WERE FOLLOWING MY IN-LAWS AND THERE WAS QUITE A BIT OF DUST THE AC WAS OFF I DIDN'T NOTICE THAT THE TEMPERATURE GAGE WAS RAISING. WHEN I NOTICED IT, I GUESS IT WAS TOO LATE. I STOPPED THE JEEP AND HOPED THAT IT WOULD COOL DOWN. AS I LIFTED THE HOOD. THE TOP POPPED OF THE COOLANT RESERVOIR AND SPRAYED COOLANT EVERYWHERE. I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM BECAUSE I WAS GOING FAST AGAIN. I PUT MORE COOLANT IN IT AND IT STILL OVERHEATS AT DRIVE-THRU'S AND IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. I HAVE TO TURN IT OFF. IN FACT WHEN I GOT IT REGISTERED THEY LEFT THE JEEP RUNNING AND THE COOLING SYSTEM RESERVOIR TOP POPPED OFF THEN. THEY TOLD ME TO BE CAREFUL AND ADD COOLANT ASAP. I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST ME, BUT LOOKING AND ALL THE OTHER PROBLEMS I REALIZE THAT THIS IS SERIOUS. THE ELECTRICAL IS ALSO SHODDY. I THINKS IT'S BECAUSE THE COOLANT HAS LEAKED ALL OVER THE WIRES. MY MAIN COMPLAINT IS THE COOLING THOUGH. YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT YOUR CAR OVERHEATING IN SLOW//STOPPED TRAFFIC. *TR

THIS IS OUR SON'S VEHICLE AND WE ARE CONCERNED ABOUT HIS SAFETY IN THIS VEHICLE. IN MUCH RESEARCH, THERE ARE MANY, MANY MORE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE AND REAR PASSENGERS SIDE BOLTS ON THE FRAME OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT HAVE PULLED THROUGH THE FRAME, CAUSING A CONSTANT ROCKING AND CAUSING THE SEAT TO LEAN VERY FAR BACK.
