I OWN A 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO. IN THE SPRING OF 2007, MY DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR BROKE (THE WINDOW FELL, WOULD NOT ROLL UP OR DOWN). I HAD IT REPLACED. IN OCTOBER 2007, THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO MY PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW. IN MAY 2008, THE SAME TO MY RIGHT REAR PASSENGER WINDOW, AND IN SEPT 2008, THE SAME TO MY LEFT REAR PASSENGER WINDOW. ALL WINDOWS HAVE FAILED WITHIN ONE YEAR OF EACH OTHER. THE FINAL STRAW WAS TODAY WHEN THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED AGAIN. I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO FIX THESE, AND BELIEVE THAT CHRYSLER SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL TO REPAIR THE WINDOWS. I HAVE RECEIVED AN ESTIMATE OF $347 PER WINDOW TO REPAIR THE THREE WINDOWS. I CAN'T AFFORD THIS AND EXPECT JEEP TO CORRECT THE PROBLEMS. *TR
MARCH OF 2009, I TOLD MY DAUGHTERS DAD THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WERE NOT WORKING RIGHT. IT STARTED WITH THE ELECTRICAL DOOR LOCKS THAT WORK ON AND OFF FOR DAYS. HE CAME OVER TO SWITCH CARS BECAUSE I DIDN'T FEEL SAFE IN IT. WITH IN TWO DAYS OF HIM DRIVING IT, ON HIS WAY HOME FROM WORK THAT NIGHT THE CAR CAUGHT A FIRE. I WAS STILL MAKING PAYMENTS ON A CAR I NO LONGER HAD. I COULDN'T AFFORD TO CONTINUED PAYMENT AND BUY ANOTHER CAR. SO I TRY TO PURCHASE ONLINE AND WAS SCAM OUT OF $2000.00 THAT AUGUST. I WERE PUT IN CREDIT BUREAU FOR IT AND HAD TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO PAY IT OFF. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE TODAY ABOUT THE ORC COMPUTER CHIPS. THAT CAN DEPLOY CAUSING INJURY AND YOU TO CRASH. I CALLED THE NUMBER TO EXPRESS MY CONCERN, THE PERSON THAT ANSWER HAD NO COMPASSION. HE FIRST UP DATED MY INFO AND ONCE HE LEARNED THE CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE HE HAD NOTHING ELSE TO SAY, OTHER THEN OH YOU NO LONGER HAVE THE CAR, HE GOT QUITE AND SAID THANK YOU FOR CALLING. GOOD BYE *TR

HEATING SYSTEM IN 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE FAILED. I DON'T HAVE DEFROST, HEAT. HAVE HEARD OF NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER CHEROKEE OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
MY DRIVERS SIDE FRONT SEAT CAME OFF AND FELL INTO THE BACK SEAT. IT IS HANGING LOOSE. I READ ON THE INTERNET CARSURVEY THAT JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE'S OF ALL YEARS ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM AND WANT TO KNOW WHY THERE IS NO RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 GRAND JEEP CHEROKEE. THE DRIVER-SIDE HEATED SEATS BURNT HIS LEGS. HE TOOK HIS VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM RECALL # 09V117000 (SEATS:FRONT ASSEMBLY:SEAT HEATER/COOLER). HE THEN CALLED THE JEEP MANUFACTURER, BUT WAS NOT PROVIDED WITH ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. UPDATED 01/12/10 *BF UPDATED 01/14/10. *JB
MY 2002 JEEP CHEROKEE STARTED BLOWING HEAT ONLY ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AND COLD AIR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE WINDOWS WERE CONSTANTLY FOGGING UP MAKING DRIVING ONLY POSSIBLE BY LOWERING THE WINDOWS TO REDUCE FOGGING. NOW, I HAVE NO HEAT AND THE MECHANIC SAYS IT IS MY BLOWER DOORS AND THAT THIS HAPPENS TO ALOT OF JEEPS. WE HAD TO ABANDON THE VEHICLE DURING A SNOW / FREEZING RAIN EVEN LAST WEEK AND THEN COULDN'T DRIVE IT FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS DUE TO FREEZING CONDITIONS. I HAVE REPLACED THE HEATER CORE DUE TO FOGGING WINDOWS 2 YEARS AGO AND THE AC HAD TO BE CHARGED CONSTANTLY TO STAY COOL. THIS IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AND YOU FREEZE DURING COLD TIMES. I ALWAYS HAVE TO MAKE SURE PRECIP IN NOT EXPECTED WHENEVER WE DRIVE THIS VEHICLE DURING WINTER MONTHS. JEEP OWNERS NEED HELP WITH THIS...! NOW MY PASSENGER WINDOW WONT GO UP EITHER. *TR
APPROXIMATELY MID JANUARY, THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEATED SEAT CUSHION OVERHEATED AND CAUGHT FIRE. LUCKILY TURNING OFF THE SWITCH EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. HOWEVER IT LEFT A COUPLE OF INCH LONG BURN MARK IN THE LEATHER SEAT COVER. WE HAD BEEN NOTICING "HOT SPOTS" IN THE HEATING ELEMENT, AND MY WIFE HAD PLACED A FLEECE HOOD ON THE SEAT TO SIT ON. THIS ALSO RECEIVED SOME MELTING BUT SAVED HER FROM ANY BURNS. DISCUSSION WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS LEAD TO THE DISCOVERY OF A RECALL INVOLVING JEEP HEATED SEATS. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THAT MY VEHICLE DID NOT FALL UNDER THE RECALL GUIDELINES. RECALL WAS FOR '03 & '04 MODELS, I HAVE A '02. I ASKED IF THEY WOULD COVER THE REPAIRS ANYWAY AS THE PROBLEM WAS THE SAME, THEY DECLINED. I THEN CONTACTED CHRYSLER/JEEP BY PHONE. I RECEIVED THE SAME RESPONSE FROM A REPRESENTATIVE AND THE SUPERVISOR. WHEN I ASKED ABOUT AN APPEALS PROCESS THEY SAID I HAD JUST BEEN THROUGH IT BY TALKING TO THE SUPERVISOR. MY UNDERSTANDING OF THE '03/'04 RECALL IS THAT BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEATS AND SEAT BACK HEATING ELEMENTS WOULD BE REPLACED DUE TO POTENTIAL FAILURE. I AM CONCERNED THAT JUST FIXING THE "BROKEN PART" WOULD LEAVE THE POSSIBILITY OF THIS OCCURRING ON THE OTHER SEAT ALSO. I HAVE NOT REPLACED THIS AS YET. WE ARE JUST NOT USING THE HEATED SEATS. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF CHECKING ON VARIOUS REPLACEMENT OPTIONS AND PRICES SUCH AS FACTORY PARTS, REPLACEMENT WITH AFTERMARKET PARTS, ETC. I WONDER WHAT OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE BESIDES PAYING FOR THIS REPAIR MYSELF? *TR
2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, LAREDO, 4X4 I NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLES HVAC IS NOT FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY. THIS CAUSES SOMETIMES OBSTRUCTED VIEWS IN PASSENGER SIDE COMPARTMENT . THIS OCCURS EVERYDAY WHEN VEHICLE IS RUNNING I'M CURRENTLY IN THE PROCESS OF REPAIRING THIS DEFECT MYSELF. *TR

I SEARCHED THE COMPLAINTS AND CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL ON THIS MODEL VEHICLE. HAS 60 MINUTES OR THE NATIONAL MEDIA BEEN APPRISED OF THE PROBLEMS WITH THIS MODEL VEHICLE? THE AUTOMATIC BLEND DOORS TO CONTROL THE HEAT ARE BROKEN AND NOW ONLY BLOWS COLD AIR OUT OF MY VENTS, MY WINDSHIELD NOW FREEZES UP VERY EASILY AND MAKES DRIVING IN FREEZING CONDITION VERY DANGEROUS. *TR
MY DAUGHTER WAS RETURNING HOME TO MADISON, AL FROM AUBURN UNIVERSITY, ALABAMA USING INTERSTATE I-65 NORTH. JUST OUTSIDE OF BIRMINGHAM, AL AT MILE MARKER 170 SHE HAD A BLOWOUT OF THE RIGHT REAR TIRE. THE TIRE TREAD SEEMED TO COMPLETELY SEPARATE FROM THE SIDEWALL ALL AROUND THE TIRE. THE TIRE WAS COMPLETELY USELESS. THE TIRE WAS ON A JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND WITH FULL TIME FOUR WHEEL DRIVE, WHICH WE BELIEVE HELPED MY DAUGHTER COME TO A SAFE STOP ON THE HIGHWAY MEDIAN. THE TIRE WAS A GOODYEAR WRANGLER SR A P235/65 R17 DOT MK87 DYWR 0506. WE ARE NOW VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THE REMAINING WRANGLER TIRES ON THIS VEHICLE AND IF IT IS SAFE TO CONTINUE TO USE THEM. THE HEATER ON MY 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE BLOWS COLD AIR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. *TR
PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE POWER WINDOW ACTUATORS HAVE FAILED. THE PASSENGER SIDE FAILED FIRST AND WAS COVERED BY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. A FEW MONTHS LATER THE DRIVER SIDE FAILED. VEHICLE IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD. *TR
THE WINDOWS IN THIS JEEP HAVE ALWAYS WORKED GREAT. ON DECEMBER 3TH, WE ROLLED THE WINDOW DOWN, BUT IT WOULDN'T GO UP. THE REGULATOR IN THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT WINDOW BROKE AND THE WINDOW WILL NOT ROLL UP. IT WILL SOON BE FIXED. *TR

UNINTENDED ACCELERATION OF 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, RESULTING IN MINOR ACCIDENT. UPON PUTTING VEHICLE IN GEAR IT REVVED AND ACCELERATED VERY RAPIDLY AND COULD NOT BE SLOWED DESPITE FULL BRAKE PRESSURE. INCIDENT RESULTED IN MAJOR DAMAGE TO 3 CARS (INCLUDING JEEP) WITHIN A ~40 FT RANGE. *TR

I OWN A 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED V8. SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE I HAVE BEEN BATTLING WITH NO HEAT. THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE BLEND DOOR THAT COMES WITH THE DUAL MODULE HEATING AND COOLING SYSTEM. I SELL HOMES AND PEOPLE DO NOT GET LOANS IF THERE IS NO HEAT IN THE HOUSE. HEATING ELEMENTS FOR FRONT HEATED SEATS BURNED FOAM IN BOTH SEATS. HEATING ELEMENTS NO LONGER FUNCTION CAUSING AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR. JEEP BUILD DATE OF FEBRUARY 2002. THE BLEND DOORS STOP OPERATING CORRECTLY AND THERE IS NO HEAT AND NO CONTROL OF THE AIR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE DASH. DASH NEEDS TO BE REMOVED TO REPLACE BLEND DOORS AND MECHANISMS. *TR
PRIOR TO THE PROBLEM THE VEHICLE PERFORMED AS DESIGNED AND THEN SUDDENLY A SNAP NOISE CAME FROM THE DASH AREA AND THEN THE WINDOWS FOGGED WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THE FAILURE WAS A PLASTIC COMPONENT OF THE CLIMATE CONTROL VENT SYSTEM AND THE CONSEQUENCES ARE NO HEATING OF THE DRIVERS COMPARTMENT AND COMPROMISED COMFORT & VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING. THE ONLY SOLUTION THAT THE JEEP DEALER OFFERS IS TO REPLACE THE BADLY DESIGNED EXPENSIVE PARTS WITH EQUALLY INFERIOR EXPENSIVE OEM REPLACEMENT PARTS WHICH ARE INEVITABLY GOING TO BREAK AGAIN. DIAGNOSTIC / REPAIR QUOTE $1600.00 I SOUGHT ADVICE / INFO REGARDING MY PROBLEM AND DISCOVERED ON MY OWN A COMPANY IN TEXAS WHICH MAKES A RELIABLE / PERMANENT SOLUTION FOR THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE POORLY DESIGNED DUAL CONTROL VENT & RECIRC SYSTEMS. I BOUGHT AN AFTER MKT REPAIR KIT FROM A TEXAS CO. HEATERTREATER.COM FOR $225. THE SUPERIOR DESIGNED PARTS ARE IMPERVIOUS TO BREAKAGE LIKE THE OEM JEEP COMPONENTS AND WILL NOT REPEAT THIS TROUBLE IN MY VEHICLE LIKE THE ORIGINAL PARTS. I BOUGHT MY 02 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IN 05 WITH ABOUT 50,000 MILES ON IT. SOMETIME IN 08 THE BLOWER MOTOR STARTED WORKING OFF AND ON. AFTER ABOUT 3 YEARS I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THE MOST LIKELY CAUSE WAS THE BLOWER MOTOR RESISTER. AFTER CHECKING, I NOTICE THAT THE RESISTOR HARNESS HAD BEEN MELTED. I DID SOME MORE RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THIS WAS QUITE COMMON. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM BECAUSE THIS IS A SERIOUS FIRE HAZARD. IF THE WIRES WERE HOT ENOUGH TO MELT THE PLASTIC SHEATHING, WHAT'S TO STOP IT FROM CAUSING A FIRE IN AN UNSUSPECTING CONSUMER'S JEEP? I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO HAVE CAUGHT THIS EARLY ON, BUT IF I WASN'T, THE COST OF "WHAT IF" IS NOT ONE I, MY WIFE, OR CHILDREN ARE WILLING TO PAY. *TR
HAVE A 2002 OVERLAND JEEP AND THE HEAT HAS GONE OUT ON IT FOR A SECOND TIME. VERY EXPENSIVE TO KEEP FIXING AND WAS TOLD THIS IS COMMON FOR THIS VEHICLE. *TR
BLEND DOORS FAILED ON 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. CANNOT GET HEAT, DEFROST WINDOWS, ETC. THIS HAPPEN TO OUR JEEP AT 80,000 MILES, BUT I HAVE HEARD FROM MANY JEEP OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, SOME HAPPENING AS SOON AS 40,000 MILES. THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE IF ONE CANNOT PROPERLY DEFROST WINDOWS. COST IS $1,200 TO REPAIR PER DEALERSHIP. *TR

I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC, THE DIAGNOSIS IS BROKEN BLEND AIR DOOR AND RECIRCULATION DOOR, ESTIMATE $1200.00. *TR
MY 2002 JEEP CHEROKEE LIMITED HAS 64,000 MILES ON IT. THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING. TOOK IT TO JEEP DEALERSHIP. COMPUTER HOOK UP INDICATED A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD IT NEEDED A NEW "TORQUE CONVERTER." HAD THE TORQUE CONVERTER REPLACED. WHEN REPLACING THE "TORQUE CONVERTER", I WAS TOLD THE TRANS. PLATE WAS BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. REPLACED PLATE. COMPUTER NOW SAYS THE 02 SENSOR IS BAD. REPLACED 02 SENSOR. WHILE GETTING TO THE 02 SENSOR, WAS TOLD A BOLT WAS RUSTED TO TRANS. COOLANT LINE AND BROKE A HOLE IN IT. HAD THE COOLANT LINE REPLACED. NOW THE JEEP STALLS! HAD TO DRIVE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH ONE FOOT ON THE GAS, ONE ON THE BRAKE TO KEEP JEEP RUNNING AND NOT TO CAUSE AND ACCIDENT! NOW I'M TOLD MY SPARK PLUGS NEED REPLACING AND FUEL SYSTEM CLEANED. REPLACED SPARK PLUGS, FUEL SYSTEM WAS CLEANED AND REPLACED THE IDLE AIR CONTROL MOTOR!!! JEEP STALLS WHEN PUTTING INTO REVERSE OR DRIVE! WHY IS THE JEEP STALLING????? I'VE ALREADY DUMPED A PILE OF MONEY INTO IT AND IT'S WORSE OFF THAN WHEN I TOOK IT IN THE FIRST PLACE! *TR
I OWN A 02 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED. FIRST IT STARTED OFF WITH ONLY HOT AIR ON MY DRIVERS SIDE AND FREEZING COLD AIR ON MY PASSENGER SIDE, NOW ITS JUST COLD ALL AROUND. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID ITS A PROBLEM WITH THE BLEND DOOR SYSTEM AND IT WOULD COST OVER 1000 DOLLARS TO FIX. WHEN I LOOKED ONLINE TO FIND A QUICK FIX FOR THE PROBLEM I LEARNED THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS SHOULD BE DEEMED A MANUFACTURES DEFECT. *TR
IN THE FALL OF 2008, MY SON AND MY WIFE EXITED THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AND CLOSED THEIR DOORS. WITHIN A SECOND OR TWO, BOTH OF THEM HEARD A BANG BUT SAW NOTHING WRONG, AS THEY WERE BOTH AT THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AND UNABLE TO SEE THEIR SIDE WINDOWS. AFTER RETURNING TO THE VEHICLE, MY SON NOTICED HIS WINDOW WAS NOT UP AS HE HAD LEFT IT. HE WAS UNABLE TO RAISE THE WINDOW NORMALLY SO A COLD TRIP HOME FOLLOWED. A QUICK INVESTIGATION REVEALED A FAILED WINDOW REGULATOR. SINCE I WAS NOT GOING TO PAY SOMEONE A RIDICULOUS AMOUNT TO REPLACE THE PART, I DID IT MYSELF AFTER FINDING A WINDOW REGULATOR AT A LOCAL PARTS STORE. SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT OPERATING WHEN THE FAILURE OF THE WINDOW REGULATOR OCCURRED, SAFETY WAS NOT AN ISSUE RELATIVE TO OPERATION. HOWEVER, SINCE THE FAILURE WAS UNDETECTED AT THE TIME, OR IF IT HAD HAPPENED AFTER WALKING AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS OBVIOUSLY A SAFETY ISSUE RELATIVE TO AN UNSECURED VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS OPEN TO ANYONE OR ANYTHING WANTING TO ENTER IT. IT ALSO CREATED A POTENTIAL FOR FURTHER DAMAGE FROM INCLEMENT WEATHER. IN AUGUST 2009, THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED. THE DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOWS HAD BEEN LOWERED TO HELP COOL THE INSIDE PRIOR TO DRIVING. WHEN THE WINDOWS WERE RAISED, ONLY THE FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW RESPONDED. THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW WOULD NOT RAISE. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN HOME WHERE I REPLACED THE WINDOW REGULATOR. THE SAME PART FAILED IN BOTH INSTANCES. THIS PART IS OBVIOUSLY INSUFFICIENT FOR ITS PURPOSE. A FAILURE OF THE WINDOW REGULATOR AND SUBSEQUENT DROPPING WINDOW COULD EASILY CAUSE ENOUGH DISTRACTION TO INITIATE A MOVING INCIDENT. WHOEVER OWNS THE JEEP TRADEMARK THESE DAYS NEEDS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND ISSUE A RECALL BEFORE THERE IS AN ACCIDENT, A DRIVER RETURNS TO A RANSACKED VEHICLE OR WORSE, THERE IS A CAR JACKING BY AN UNKNOWN AND UNINVITED PASSENGER. *TR
MY WIFE WAS ON HER WAY HOME FROM WORK WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY OVERHEATED. THE COOLING FAN BLADES HAD DISINTEGRATED, BLOWN THOUGHT THE TOP AND BOTTOM OF THE FAN SHROUD AND INTO THE RADIATOR CAUSING LOSS OF COOLANT. THE FAN SHROUD ASSEMBLY, THE RADIATOR AND THE ENGINE HEAD GASKET ALL HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO OVERHEATING OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
FRONT DRIVER SIDE WINDOW WENT DOWN AND WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. NOW ALL THREE REMAINING WINDOWS ARE DOWN. ALL THREE WENT WITHIN THE SAME MONTH. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A FACTORY DEFECTIVE PROBLEM AND VERY EXPENSIVE. CHRYSLER SHOULD RECALL AND COVER THIS ISSUE AT THEIR EXPENSE. *TR

THIS IS IN REGARDS TO THE BLEND DOOR ISSUE ON JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE MODELS THAT HAVE THE DUAL CLIMATE CONTROL. THE FACT THAT THIS ISSUE IS IMMINENT IN NEARLY EVERY ONE OF THESE VEHICLES IS DISTURBING ENOUGH IN ITSELF, BUT WHAT IS DOWNRIGHT UNACCEPTABLE IS THAT THE AVERAGE COST TO REPAIR RANGES FROM 1000.00-1300.00!! THIS ISSUE IS SO PREVALENT THAT 3 DIFFERENT JEEP SITE FORUMS HAVE HAD SO MANY JEEP OWNERS BRING THIS UP THAT IT HAS BECOME A POSTED ISSUE. I HAVE RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2002 MODEL AND, KNOCK ON WOOD, HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE. I WAS GETTING READY TO GO TO WORK. IT WAS COLD AND I NEEDED TO TURN ON THE HEAT. I TURNED THE HEAT ON AND ALL I GOT WAS COLD AIR, THE ENTIRE 30 MILES THAT IT TAKES FOR ME TO GET TO WORK. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS MY BLEND DOORS AND THAT IT WOULD COST $1500. *TR
I WAS APPROACHING A STOP SIGN TRAVELING ABOUT 30MPH IN MY 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR, THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. AFTER THE REPAIR, THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE ADDITIONAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE NORMALLY OVERHEATS AND SHUTS OFF. THE MOST RECENT FAILURE OCCURRED ON SEPTEMBER 23, 2008. THE VEHICLE WILL BE TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 35,358.

SEEMS TO ME THAT NOT ONLY DOES JEEP KNOW THERE IS A FACTORY DEFAULT WITH THEIR JEEPS, THEY RIP PEOPLE OFF BY CHARGING EXORBITANT AMOUNTS OF $$ TO FIX SOMETHING SIMPLE. I SEARCHED THROUGH YOUR DATABASE AND THERE ARE PAGES AND PAGES OF COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS DUE TO STRAIN ON THE BLOWER MOTOR DRAWING HIGH AMPS BECAUSE THE COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS JEEP IS WITH THE AC "BLEND DOORS" WHICH WAS THE FIRST PROBLEM FOR ME....AS WITH MANY JEEP CHEROKEE OWNERS. IT COSTS OVER $1000 TO FIX A SIMPLE PROBLEM WITH THE BLEND DOOR BECAUSE THE ENTIRE DASH HAS TO BE REMOVED! BROUGHT MY 02 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IN NOVEMBER 2007 HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE HEAT MODE BLOWING COLD OUT THE PASSENGER SIDE VENTS. TO STOP THIS AND MAKE THE PASSENGER SIDE FEEL THE HEAT I HAD TO TAPE UP THE VENTS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. WELL SUMMER OF 2008 BEGAN SO I REMOVE THE TAPE FROM THE VENTS. WITH THE AC ON THE AIR FLOW WAS WEAK THE AS WAS RECHARGED THE DRIVER SIDE BLEW COLD, BUT PASSENGER SIDE WAS WEAK. AROUND AUGUST TURN ON THE AC NOTHING BUT A VERY WEAK AIRFLOW FROM BOTH SIDES. THE POSSIBLE VILLAINS BLEND AIR DOORS AND THE AIR RECIRCULATION DOOR. COST FROM DEALER TO REPAIR 1,000.00 TO 1,200.00 THE WINTER OF 2008/ 2009 IS APPROACHING NO HEAT AND *NO DEFROST.
