CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT A FRONT ROTORS. PROBLEM. THEY HAD TO BE REPLACED EVERY 15,000 MILES. OWNER CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER, WHO STATED THAT THE WEAR TIME WAS NORMAL. *AK

BRAKE ROTORS WARP EVERY 10,000 - 12,000 MILES MAKING STOPPING THE VEHICLE AND CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE DIFFICULT WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. *JB
DUEL CLIMATE CONTROL DOORS NOT WORKING NO HEAT ON PASSENGER SIDE OR ON DRIVER SIDE. WINDOWS FOG UP AND MAKE FOR DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS. COST 1500.00 TO REPAIR AND FIX. AT THE DEALERSHIP THEY HAVE SEEN BETWEEN 8-10 OF THESE SINCE OCTOBER 2005 AND IT IS ONLY FEBRUARY 2006. WHEN I CALLED JEEP ABOUT THE PROBLEM THE CUSTOMER SERVICE PERSON TOLD ME HE WAS "SETTING ME STRAIGHT" AND THAT HE DIDN'T CARE IF I WAS A CUSTOMER AGAIN. HE WOULD NOT LET ME TALK TO A SUPERVISOR AND HE HUNG UP THE PHONE ON ME. *NM
FAULTY DUAL CLIMATE CONTROL. *AK
ACCELLERATOR STUCK SEVERAL TIMES OVER A 24 HR PERIOD. CAR WAS A JEEP CHEROKE 2002 JEEP [XXX]. THE LAST TIME THE ACCELERATOR STUCK REQUIRED THE DRIVER TO DRIVE THE JEEP OFF THE ROAD AND HIT A TREE TO STOP THE CAR. JEEP WAS TOTALED - NO ADDITIONAL INVESTIGATION DONE BY DEALERSHIP OR INSURANCE COMPANY.*AK *JS INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
TURNED ON MY 02 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ON A COLD JANUARY MORNING, THERE WAS NO HEAT AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES. THIS PROBLEM PERSISTED FOR A WEEK AND AFTER BRINGING MY VEHICLE TO A NEARBY DEALER, I WAS INFORMED THE BLEND DOOR ACTUATOR HAD FAILED. THE COST TO REPAIR THE ISSUE WOULD BE IN EXCESS OF $1000 AND IF I HAD OPTED TO PERFORM THE PROCEDURE MYSELF THE PARTS ALONE WOULD HAVE COST UPWARDS OF $300 AND TAKEN AT LEAST 8 HOURS TO COMPLETE. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE ON ALL 1999-2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES AND LEADS TO COMPLETE HEAT FAILURE WITH EXCESSIVELY EXPENSIVE REPAIR COSTS. *TR
DT: THE CONTACT STATED VEHICLE WAS GOING THROUGH THE SECOND SET OF ROTORS IN A YEAR. WHEN THE ROTORS WERE SIX MONTHS OLD THEY HAD TO BE RESURFACED DUE TO CORROSION. THEY SERVICE ON VEHICLE WAS BEING DONE BY A MECHANIC, WHO SUGGESTED THAT THE ROTORS BE REPLACED AT THIS TIME. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. THEY OFFERED NO FREE REMEDY.*AK
THE VEHICLE'S FRONT BRAKES HAVE BEEN REPLACED FIVE TIMES IN UNDER 24000 MILES. *NM THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT CHRYSLER HAD NO FIX FOR THE PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED A FULL REFUND FOR THE MONEY HE SPENT ON REPAIRS. THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS WERE WARPED AND THE PADS WERE LOW. *SC *JB
I HAVE HEATED SEAT IN MY 2002 JEEP GR.CH.LIM. THAT HAS HAD TO BE DISCONNECTED, AS IT HEATS ON IT'S OWN, WITHOUT THE POWER TURNED ON. ALSO, THE A/C TURNS ON BY ITSELF, AS WELL. *NM
THE MANUFACTURER PUT THE WRONG SIZE TIRES ON THE VEHICLE. IT WAS TOLD TO THE CONSUMER AT 24,000 MILES THAT TIRES WERE WORN OUT. CONSUMER COULD NOT GET THE RIGHT TIRE FOR THE VEHICLE. GOODYEAR WRANGLER, ST ALL SEASON, P22575R16, 104S, WEIGHT RATING 1984 MAXIMUM. *AK.....GOODYEAR TIRES WORE OUT AT 23000 MILES. CONSUMER CLAIMED THAT HE WAS TOLD BY GOODYEAR THAT HE SHOULD GET 60000 TO 70000 MILES ON THAT TIRE. IN CHECKING FOR REPLACEMENTS BOTH B.F.GOODRICH AND MICHELIN REFUSED TO PUT THEIR TIRES ON CONSUMER'S VEHICLE. THEY STATED THAT THEIR TIRE MUST HAVE A RATING OF 106S. *AK
I HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AS BELOW. HAD IT REPAIRED AND THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY REPAIR 2 - 3 EVERY WEEK AND THEY EVEN GAVE ME A COPY OF THE SERVICE BULLETIN THAT JEEP PUTS OUT TO THEIR MECHANICS. SERVICE MANAGER SAYS HE HAS COMPLAINED TO JEEP ABOUT RECALLING BUT THEY TOLD HIM IT WAS TOO EXPENSIVE OF A PART AND NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. 2002 GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED HAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE DUAL CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM. A DOOR IN THE SYSTEM ROUTINELY BREAKS OR STRIPS AS SOON AS THE VEHICLE HAS PASSED THE MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY END DATE. ONE SIDE(DRIVERS) OF THE SYSTEM WORKS AS ADVERTISED, HOWEVER THE PASSENGER SIDE WILL ONLY BLOW EXTREMELY COLD AIR. THE COST TO RECTIFY THIS ANOMALY IS AROUND $800 AT A JEEP DEALERSHIP. CONSUMER COMPLAINT REGARDING SAFETY CONCERNS 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE BRAKING SYSTEM. *TS THE VEHICLE ROTORS WARPED PREMATURELY AND RESULTED IN VIBRATION WHILE BRAKING. *NM
VEHICLE STOPPED WHILE WHILE PULLING INTO THE DRIVEWAY ENGINE REMAINED RUNNING, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHO WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. *AK
WHEN TURNING LEFT, AND LEFT ONLY, I HEAR A SQUEALING SOUND IN MY 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE NOISE DOES NOT OCCUR INITIALLY, BUT ONLY AFTER THE ENGINE HAS BEEN RUNNING FOR A LITTLE WHILE. IT SOUNDS A LOT LIKE A BELT SQUEAL. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES, AND THEY ALWAYS SAY THERE IS NOTHING WRONG, BUT I KNOW THAT NOT ALL JEEPS MAKE THIS NOISE. EVEN SLIGHTLY TURNING THE WHEEL WILL CAUSE THE NOISE. THE DEALER SUGGESTED A POWER STEERING HOSE, BUT THEN SAID THAT WASN'T THE PROBLEM. NO CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE. SQUEAL GETS LOUDER THE LONGER THE ENGINE RUNS.*AK
CONSUMER STATED DUAL CLIMATE CONTROL FAILED. AS A RESULT, EXTREMELY COLD AIR BLEW IN. *AK
VEHICLE - 2002 GRAND JEEP CHEROKEE LTD PROBLEM - 03/14/2002, 06/27/2003 COMPLAINT - "TICKING" AND RATTLING NOISES FROM FRONT DASH AND FLOOR GEAR SHIFT AREA WHEN DRIVING WITH AND WITHOUT THE HEAT OR AIR TURNED ON. WAS TOLD THAT THE BLEND DOORS WERE OPERATING NORMALLY FOR THIS VEHICLE AND THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. 11/23/2004 HAD TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR - HEAT WAS GONE ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE. I NOTICED THAT THERE ARE AT LEAST 4 OTHER REPORTS ODI REPORTS FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM. HAPPENS WHEN THE WARRANTY EXPIRES - I AGREE - WHAT A SCAM !!!! *JB
DT: THE CONTACT STATED THE HEATER AND DEFROSTER ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WAS NOT WORKING. THERE WAS NO HEAT COMING FROM ANY OF THE VENTS ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE. THE DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS BEING THE ACTUATOR DOOR. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THIS WAS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE AND OFFERED NO FREE REPAIR. THIS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY .THEREFORE , NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE. *AK
I RECEIVED SAFETY RECALL F25-ELECTRIC RADIATOR FAN, BACK IN NOVEMBER OF 2006. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO SCHEDULE REPAIR AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A NATIONAL BACKORDER ON THE PART. I WAS INFORMED THAT I WOULD BE CONTACTED, ONCE THE PART WAS RECEIVED. I HAVE MADE SEVERAL CALLS TO THE DEALERSHIP, TO TRY AND SCHEDULE THE REPAIR AND HAVE NOT GOTTEN AN APPOINTMENT AS OF YET. *JB
BOUGHT JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SEPT 2002 NEW IN JUNE 2003 ROTORS WARPED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED 10000 MILES ON AUTO THE BRAKE PADS WERE FINE.NOV 2004 ROTORS ARE WARPED AGAIN THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH CHRYSULER AND THEY WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM.AGAIN THE PADS ARE FINE.THEY ARE PASSING THIS DEFECTED ROTOR ON THE CONSUMER I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS IF I EVEN HAVE ANY TO GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED. WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM BROKE AND HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT WAS SCRAPING THE WINDOW.*AK
I'VE HAD TWO INCIDENTS WHERE I HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE ROTORS ON THIS CAR. 1ST INCIDENT WAS 8/02 AT 8,700 MILE & NOW 11/04 AT 17,242 MILES. EACH TIME AS DRIVING I WOULD APPLY THE BRAKE A STEERING WHEEL WOULD SHAKE. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND EACH TIME THEY INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS NOT A PROBLEM WITH ROTORS BEING A DEFECTIVE, BUT THEY WARPED DUE TO MY DRIVING HABITS. HOW WOULD THEY KNOW MY DRIVING HABITS. I'VE HAD SEVERAL CARS IN MY LIFETIME AND NEVER HAD THESE PROBLEMS. I ALSO HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL INJECTION. IT WAS ALSO REPAIRED BY THE DEALERSHIP. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY WERE NOT HELPFUL. CLAIMS THAT IT'S NOT A DEFECT AND HE SAID THAT THE ROTORS CAN WARP AFTER JUST ONE TRIP. I REALLY DOUBT THAT. HE WAS EXTREMELY RUDE. I GUESS WITH THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE IT'S GOING TO BE CUSTOMARY TO HAVE THESE REPAIRS DONE AFTER 8,700 MILES.*AK

GEAR ALIGNMENT FAILURE. *BF THE 4-WHEEL DRIVE DID NOT ENGAGE. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO 2 DIFFERENT DEALER AND THEY BOTH STATED THE VEHICLE WAS FINE. WHEN THE CONSUMER WENT BACK TO THE FIRST DEALER, THEY STATED THE VEHICLE DID NOT ALWAYS GO INTO 4-WHEEL DRIVE. THE DEALER STATED THE BACK TIRES WERE SPINNING, BUT THE FRONT TIRES WERE NOT MOVING AT ALL. THE DEALER CALLED THE CONSUMER BACK AND STATED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT EQUIPPED VARILOCK DIFFERENTIAL WHICH WAS NEEDED FOR THE VEHICLE TO WORK IN 4-WHEEL DRIVE AT ALL TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD VIBRATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ROTORS WERE WARPED AND THEY REPLACED THE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS. APPROXIMATELY EIGHT MONTHS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER STATED AGAIN THAT THE ROTORS WERE WARPED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED EVERY EIGHT MONTHS. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE WAS MILEAGE 12,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
LOST STEERING. TIE ROD ASSEMBLY CAME APART. THREADS STRIPPED AND ROD POPPED OUT. LOST CONTROL WITH NO STEERING. BOUNCED UP CURB, RIGHT FRONT TIRE BOUNCED OFF A TREE AND CAR WOUND UP OFF THE ROAD. DAMAGE INCLUDED STEERING ROD AND LINKAGE, BEARING, BENT FRONT DRIVE AXLE, TIRE, WHEEL AND MORE.*AK
2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SE- BRAKE VIBRATIONS AND FRONT END SHIMMERS WITH HIGH SPEED BRAKEING WITH ONLY 28000 MILES. DC AND JEEP WARRENTY WILL NOT COVER NEW BRAKE ROTORS AND PADS TO RESOLVE ISSUE.
WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD PUMPED UP AND DOWN AND THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD SHIMMY UP AND DOWN AND TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT. THE HIGHER THE SPEED THE WORSE THE PROBLEM. WHEN I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP I INSISTED THAT THE SERVICE MANAGER TAKE A RIDE WITH ME. HE ONLY HAD TO DRIVE IT A SHORT DISTANCE BEFORE HE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. HE SAID THE ROTORS WERE WARPED. I ASKED IF THAT WAS NORMAL, ESPECIALLY WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE. HE TOLD ME THAT IT WAS AN ONGOING PROBLEM THAT CHRYSLER NEW ABOUT. WHEN THE ROTORS HEATED UP THEY WERE NOT COOLING DOWN PROPERLY DUE TO A DEFECT WHICH IN TURN CAUSES THE ROTORS TO WARP. HE SAID THEY INSTRUCTED TO TELL OWNERS THAT THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO WEAR AND TEAR AND THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY, THEREFORE PASSING THE EXPENSE ON TO THE CUSTOMER. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT IF THE CUSTOMER COMPLAINED TO CHRYSLER, AND ONLY THEN, WOULD CHRYSLER FIX THE PROBLEM AT NO CHARGE AND WOULD PUT THE REPAIRS UNDER A "GOOD WILL WARRANTY". THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID HE WOULD NOT PUT ME THROUGH THE TROUBLE AND AUTOMATICALLY PUT IT UNDER THE "GOOD WILL WARRANTY". ESPECIALLY SINCE I HAVE HAD NUMEROUSE OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE JEEP SINCE THE FIRST DAY I DROVE IT OFF THE LOT. I'VE HAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON 4 TIMES. EACH TIME IT WAS A DIFFERENT DEFFECTIVE PART. I'VE ALSO HAD ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WHICH CAUSED THE DOME LIGHTS TO FLASH ON AND OFF, ALL SORTS OF BEEPING NOISES AND NUMEROUS OTHER DISTRACTIONS IN THE INTERIOR. IT'S ALSO LEFT ME STRANDED ON THE NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL AND STEERING WHEEL PULSATED WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE ROTORS WERE PREVIOUSLY REGROUNDED AT THE DEALER, HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,131 AND CURRENT MILEAGE IS 32,899. 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH DEFECTIVE BRAKE ROTORS. CUSTOMER STATES THAT SHE HAS HAD THE BRAKES REPAIRED AND REPLACED ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS. CONSUMER WANTS REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE REPAIRS. *KB
THE RADIATOR ELECTRIC COOLING FAN SUFFERED A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. THE FAN BLEW APART WITH A LOUD BANG AS CAR WAS PLACED INTO DRIVE TO LEAVE A PARKING LOT. THE OWNER THOUGHT HE HAD HIT SOMETHING AND CHECKED THE EXTERIOR OF CAR. THE DISINTEGRATION OF THE FAN BLADE BLEW A HOLE THROUGH THE RADIATOR FAN SHROUD WHICH WAS PROBABLY THE LOUD BANG. THIS CAUSED COOLANT TO OVERHEAT AND AIR CONDITIONER TO STOP FUNCTIONING WHEN CAR WAS STATIONARY. THIS WAS NOT NOTICED ON HIGHWAY WHERE MOST DRIVING IS DONE AND CAR WAS DRIVEN ON A 700 MILE TRIP BEFORE FAILURE WAS DETECTED. IF HOOD HAD BEEN OPEN AT TIME OF THIS FAILURE AN INJURY COULD HAVE OCCURRED TO INDIVIDUAL IN VICINITY OF SHROUD. THE OWNER REPLACED BOTH FAN AND SHROUD AS DEALER WAS TOO BUSY THE DAY FAILURE WAS DISCOVERED. NO OTHER ENGINE DAMAGE HAS BEEN NOTICED. THE JEEP 5 STAR DEALER SHOWED NO INTEREST IN THIS FAILURE. A MEMBER OF A GOLFING FORE SOME TOLD ME THAT THE SAME THING HAPPENED ON HIS 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE A MONTH LATER AT APPROXIMATELY THE SAME MILEAGE. HIS COOLING FAN DISINTEGRATION PUNCTURED A HOLE IN HIS RADIATOR. MY PARTS WERE THROWN OUT WITH TRASH BUT DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHS OF DAMAGE ARE AVAILABLE. *JB
MY JEEP EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID 06V199000 PRIOR TO THE RECALL. AT THE TIME, I CONTACTED CHRYSLER TO SEE IF THIS WAS WARRANTED PART. THEY ADVISED ME IT WAS NOT AND THAT I SHOULD HAVE THE CAR REPAIRED ON MY OWN. IN 6/06, I SAW THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE RECALL. I HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER NUMEROUS TIMES REGARDING THE RECALL AND BEEN TOLD THAT MY VIN # IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND THAT THEY CANNOT HELP ME. WHAT RECOURSE DO I HAVE TO BE REIMBURSED FOR MY OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES FOR A PRODUCT FAILURE THAT WAS RECALLED? *JB
BOUGHT A NEW 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE [XXX] THE FT. BRAKE ROTORS HAVE WARPED FOR THE SECOND TIME IN 30,000 MILES. DRIVING WITH THESE WARPED ROTORS CAUSES THE STEERING WHEEL TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND BRAKE APPLICATION AT THE WHEELS TO BE UNEVEN. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION ESPECIALLY ON WET OR ICY SURFACES. THE DEALER REFUSES TO REPLACE THE ROTORS UNDER WARRANTY. A CALL TO CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE PRODUCED THE SAME RESULT, NO WARRANTY REPLACEMENT. THE DEALER & MANUFACTURER INSIST ON CALLING THIS A "WORN BRAKE" PROBLEM WHEN IN FACT IT IS THE RESULT OF DEFECTIVE BRAKE ROTORS. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THE FT PADS & ROTORS WERE REPLACE ONCE ALREADY UNDER WARRANTY AT 11,000 MILES DUE TO WARPED ROTORS, THE PADS AT THIS TIME SHOW LESS THAN 50% WEAR. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM THAT EFFECTED 1996 GRAND CHEROKEES, THAT DEFECT RESULTED IN AN OFFICIAL RECALL AND REIMBURSEMENT FOR THOSE WHO HAVE PAID TO HAVE THE DEFECTIVE ROTORS REPLACED. I FEEL THIS SERIES OF GRAND CHEROKEE WARRANTS THE SAME RECALL. WHILE IDLING A FIRE STARTED WITH THE WIRING UNDER THE DASHBOARD. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
VEHICLE VIBRATED. DEALER STATED THAT ONCE THE ROTORS GET WET THEY CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO VIBRATE.*AK
I WAS DRIVING ON SR 70 WHEN I FELT MY JEEP SLUGGING THEN I LOOKED AT THE GAUGE AND NOTICED THAT IT WAS ALL THE WAY TO THE BOILING POINT. THEN I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BECAUSE I WASN'T SURE WHAT HAD HAPPENED. CALLED MY DAD HE CAME AND LOOKED AT MY JEEP AND FOUND THAT THE FAN HAD BUSTED WE HAD BEEN ABLE TO PUT ENOUGH WATER IN IT TO GET IT TO WAL-MART WHERE WE CAME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT IT HAD A HOLE IN THE RADIATOR. THERE WAS PIECES EVERYWHERE FROM THE SHROUD. THE NEXT DAY HAD IT TOWED TO FIRKINS IN BRADENTON IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY SO I ENDED UP PAYING $1131.45 FOR THIS TO BE FIXED. NOW EVER SINCE THIS HAS BEEN FIXED MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON FOR AWHILE THEN GOES OFF. THIS HAPPENED WITH THE FAN ON 8/17/04 NOW BOTH POWER WINDOWS IN THE BACK ARE NOT WORKING JUST THE OTHER DAY MY SON GOT OUT OF THE JEEP SHUT THE DOOR AND DOWN CAME THE WINDOW NEITHER OF THE BACK WINDOWS WORK HAD IT CHECKED OUT AND IT WILL COST ME 300.00 PER WINDOW FOR THE BEARINGS WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT THE FRONT ONES. I THOUGHT WHEN I BOUGHT THIS BRAND I WAS GETTING A GOOD VALUE BUT TURNS OUT ALL I HAVE HAD IS A NIGHTMARE. *NM
AIR CONDITIONER FAN STOPPED, THOUGHT I HAD IT SET WRONG, CHANGED THE SETTING, STARTED WORKING AGAIN. COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER IT STOPPED AGAIN. THEN IT WOULD WORK INTERMITTANTLY. CALLED DEALER AND THEY SAID CHECK FUSES AND RELAYS, CHECKED OK. CALLED THEM BACK, THEY SAID CHECK WIRING HARNESS FOR MELTDOWN. CONNECTOR AND WIRES GOING TO THE BLOWER WERE MELTED. THEY SAID I NEEDED TO SCHEDULE AN APPT. THEY DID NOT TELL ME TO DISCONNECT WIRES OR THAT I NEEDED TO WORRY ABOUT POSSIBLE FIRE. A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER ON MY WAY HOME, SMOKE STATED COMING OUT OF DASH ON PASSENGER SIDE, I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. JUMPED OUT AND RAN AROUND TO OTHER SIDE, OPENED FRONT DOOR TO SEE WHAT WAS SMOKING AND FLAMES WERE COMING FROM UNDER THE DASH. RAN TO BACK DOOR AND OPENED TO GET FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND THE SMOKED KNOCKED ME DOWN. CRAWLED AWAY FROM VEHICLE AND STUMBLED TO HOUSE AND CALLED 911. I AM SO THANKFUL MY FAMILY WASN'T WITH ME ESPECIALLY MY 4 YEAR OLD IN HIS CAR SEAT. THE THOUGHT OF IT TERRIFIES ME. I AM STILL HAVING NIGHTMARES OF FIRE AND AM VERY PARANOID OF FIRE. DIAMLERCRYSLER CORP. REFUSES TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY EVEN THO IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRENTY. HAVE SEVERAL WITNESSES TO THE MELTED WIRING HARNESS.*AK
DEALER REPLACED AT 14,000 MILES THE FRONT ROTORS AND PADS. AT 20,000 MILES FRONTS ROTORS WERE RESURFACED, AND AT 26,000 MILES ROTORS WERE RESURFACED ONCE AGAIN. *AK
SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKES HAVE NOT BEEN "RIGHT". I TOOK IT IN A FEW TIMES TO BE TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG. I WAS IN 2 ACCIDENTS, WHERE THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP, AND REAR ENDED EACH VEHICLE. WHEN I BRAKED AT SPEEDS OVER 50 MPH, THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE SHOOK. IN AUG. 04, I CALLED THE DEALER AGAIN TO COMPLAIN, AND WAS TOLD THE BRAKES ARE NOT UNDER WARRANTY (2002 GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO - 26000 MI) I FINALLY TOOK IT TO MY PRIVATE MECHANIC, WHO TOLD ME THAT HE HAS REPLACED NUMEROUS BRAKES ON THIS MODEL - THEY SEEM TO BE OUT OF ALIGNMENT FROM THE START. MY INSURANCE COMPANY DROPPED ME - TOO MANY OF THE SAME ACCIDENTS IN THE LAST 2 YEARS, AND AM NOW PAYING HIGH RATES, AS A RESULT. *JB
2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED TAKES OFF BY ITSELF WITH A HUGE POWER SURGE. HAS HAPPENED WHEN PLACED IN "DRIVE" AND IN "REVERESE." EXCEPTIONALLY DIFFICULT TO STOP. HAS HAPPENED ON 5 OCCASIONS WITHOUT WARNING.*AK
APPLYING BRAKES LIGHTLY AT SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 45 MPH CAUSES VEHICLE TO VIBRATE EXCESSIVELY AND PULL OFF A STRAIGHT LINE. THE VIBRATION HAS BEEN INCREASING FOR SOMETIME BUT THE PULLING CAUSED ME TO HAVE A MECHANIC INSPECT THE VEHICLE DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS IF THE BRAKES WERE REQUIRED IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. THE JEEP SERVICE CENTER CLAIMED WARPING OF THE ROTORS AS THEY HAVE FOR ALL OTHER CASES. THIS SEEMS TO BE A DEFECTIVE PART.*AK
AT 26,164 MILES THE RIGHT STOP LIGHT BULB WOULD NOT FUNCTION. THIS WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. AT 54,538 MILES THE LEFT STOP LIGHT BULB WOULD NOT FUNCTION. THIS WAS REPLACED AT A COST OF $191.40. THE ORIGINAL LAMP ASSEMBLIES ARE DEFECTIVE AND A SAFETY HAZARD. THE MFG. HAS EVEN REDESIGNED THE REPLACEMENT LAMP ASSEMBLY. ALL LAMP ASSEMBLIES SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPLACED AND OWNERS THAT PAID TO HAVE THIS SAFETY HAZARD CORRECTED SHOULD BE REIMBURSED. *JB
AIR CONDITIONER WAS NOT BLOWING COLD AIR. DEALERSHIP SERVICED VEHICLE. AND TECHNICIAN NOTICED THAT EVAPORATOR CORE MALFUNCTIONED. *AK
VEHICLE FRONT WHEELS SHIMMIED VIOLENTLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED. VEHICLE HAS ONLY 20,000 MILES AND IS A 2002. DEALER SAYS NOT UNDER WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH IT HAS A 3YR, 36,000 BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. DEALER STATED FRONT ROTORS ARE WARPED AND NEED REPLACED AT MY COST. *LA
THE FRONT BRAKES WORE OUT PREMATURELY AT 13,000 MILES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, AND TO THIS DATE THE COMPLAINT HAD NOT BEEN RESOLVED. AN INDEPENDENT SHOP INDICATED THAT THIS WAS A VERY FREQUENT PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FIXED. *AK THE VEHICLE HAD WARPED ROTORS. THE SITUATION DETERIORATED OVER A PERIOD OF TIME TO THE POINT WHERE THE BRAKES WOULD CONSTANTLY VIBRATE AND SHAKE AT ANY SPEED. *SC *JB
WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDETERMINED SPEED VEHICLE STALLED. THIS CAUSED CONSUMER TO DRIFT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE RADIATOR PLASTIC FAN FAILED. *AK
