WHILE DRIVING UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS I HEARD A POP AND THE LEFT CORNER OF THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT FELL FORWARD. THE BASE OF THE SEAT ROCKS BACK AND FORTH NOW. WHEN VEHICLE ACCELERATES, THE SEAT ROCKS BACKWARDS AND WHEN THE BRAKE IS APPLIED THE SEAT ROCKS FORWARD. I FIRST RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN JAN 2013 AND HAVE MADE NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO HAVE THE RECALL CORRECTED TO NO AVAIL THROUGH A REGISTERED CHRYSLER DEALER. I AM TOLD THE PARTS ARE JUST NOT AVAILABLE AS OF YET. I WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES AT 45 MPH WHEN SUDDENLY THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. IT STAYED ON FOR ALMOST 10 MINUTES THEN WENT OFF, THEN CAME BACK ON AGAIN WITHIN 5 MINUTES. I WAS VERY FRIGHTENED SINCE THE RECALL NOTICE STATES THAT IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE AIRBAG TO INADVERTENTLY DEPLOY AFTER THE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON. I CALLED THE DEALER AGAIN AS SOON AS I RETURNED HOME TO ADVISE THEM AND REMIND THEM THEY HAD ME ON A LIST. HOWEVER, I WAS TOLD THE PARTS ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE, SO THEY GAVE ME A TOLL FREE NUMBER 800-992-1997 WHICH I CALLED AND WAS TOLD ONCE AGAIN THAT AS OF NOW THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE AND TO JUST CONTINUE DRIVING THE CAR. I HOPE THE AIRBAG DOES NOT DEPLOY WHILE I AM DRIVING CAUSING A HEART ATTACK OR FATAL CAR CRASH.

I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT BLEND DOORS IN THE HVAC SYSTEM ARE MADE WITH A THIN PLASTIC WHICH EASILY BREAKS. WHEN THIS HAPPENS IT DOES NOT ALLOW THE HEATED AIR TO TRAVEL TO THE DUCTS GOING TO THE DEFROSTERS AND OTHER AREAS.SINCE THIS HAPPENED TO MY CAR I HAVE RESEARCHED AND FOUND THAT THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR MANY YEARS ON THE RUN OF THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE. CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP LAST SPRING ABOUT THIS RECALL AND WAS TOLD PARTS WEREN'T IN YET. I THEN CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP ON NOVEMBER 12, 2013 AND WAS TOLD THE PARTS AREN'T IN YET. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THIS AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT ISSUE AND IT SEEMS LIKE THE MANUFACTURER ISN'T CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY. *TR

I RECEIVED NOTICE OF A RECALL FOR THE AIRBAG SENSOR ON THE 2003 JEEP CHEROKEES. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE AIRBAG MAY DEPLOY AT ANY TIME WHILE THE VEHICLE IS OPERATING. IT HAS BEEN ONE YEAR SINCE I WAS NOTIFIED OF THIS ISSUE AND THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP HAS YET TO SEND THE PARTS NECESSARY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM TO ANY OF THE DEALERSHIPS. I AM CURRENTLY DRIVING AROUND WITH MY AIRBAG SENSOR ON, AND NOT KNOWING IF AND WHEN MY AIRBAG WILL DEPLOY. THIS FRIGHTENS ME BECAUSE I CURRENTLY LIVE IN THE MOUNTAINS, AND NOT KNOWING HOW I WILL REACT TO AIRBAG DEPLOYING. ONE YEAR IS DEFINITELY AN AMPLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP TO SEND THESE PARTS OUT, ESPECIALLY FOR A RECALL LIKE THIS THAT HAS PRODUCED INJURIES. *TR
IN JANUARY OF 2013 I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM CHRYSLER #35 CONCERNING A COMPONENT IN THE AIR BAG MODULE MAY FAIL WHILE OPERATING THIS VEHICLE. I CALLED MONROE MICHIGAN DODGE CHRYSLER WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR AND THEY TOLD ME CHRYSLER HASN'T RELEASED THE PARTS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I TOOK IT BACK IN TODAY OCTOBER 31 2013 AND I RECEIVED THE SAME ANSWER. I CALLED CHRYSLER AT 1-800-247-9753 AND THEY TOLD ME THE PARTS AREN'T AVAILABLE AND THEY WOULD PUT ME ON A LIST. THIS IS TOTALLY NOT ACCEPTABLE IT SHOULDN'T TAKE THIS LONG TO TAKE CARE OF THIS SERIOUS PROBLEM. *TR
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE CAR. WITHIN THE LAST TWO WEEKS THE RIGHT FORWARD BRACKET ON THE SEAT FRAME HAS SEPARATED FROM THE SEAT HOLDER. IN RESEARCHING THE NET I FIND THAT THIS CONDITION IS RATHER WIDE SPREAD. USED FRAMES ARE AVAILABLE BUT THAT WOULD SEEM LIKE DOUBLING DOWN ON A POOR DESIGN AND SPENDING $400 BUCKS FOR AN IFFY REPAIR. WWW.JEEPSEATBRACKET.COM SELLS A REPAIR KIT THAT FIXES THE PROBLEM BUT I DOUBT IF A JEEP AGENCY WOULD INSTALL NON-JEEP PARTS AND AT 81 I DOUBT IF I COULD REMOVE THE SEAT BY MYSELF. I CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY HAZARD. BEING A MA BELL RETIREE THROUGH HABIT I DRIVE CAREFULLY BUT AND UNANCHORED DRIVERS SEAT MAKES ME VERY NERVOUS. I PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY (WHICH HAS A SMALL INCLINE) AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK. AS SOON AS I TOOK MY FOOT OFF OF THE BRAKE THE VEHICLE STARTED ROLLING DOWN MY DRIVE WAY, UNTIL PUSHED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND PUT ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND DIFFERENT PLACES, I.E WORK, GAS STATION, HOME, SCHOOL. THIS HAS NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT YET SINCE I'VE BEEN IN THE DRIVERS SEAT EVERY TIME SO FAR. *TR

A FEW MONTHS LATER, HE RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALER AND THEY SCHEDULED AN APPOINT. HOWEVER, AFTER THE CONSUMER DROPPED THE VEHICLE OFF, THE DEALER CALLED THE CONSUMER BACK AND INFORMED HIM, THEY NEVER HAD THE PART. THE CONSUMER CONTINUED TO CALL FOR MONTHS, BUT THE PART WAS STILL NOT AVAILABLE. THE AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND STAY ON FOR WEEKS AT A TIME AND THEN GO OFF, AND COME BACK ON AGAIN.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE HER VEHICLE BECAUSE SHE DID NOT WANT THE VEHICLE TO EXPLODE IN THE EVENT OF A REAR END COLLISION AND BELIEVED THAT CHRYSLER SHOULD HAVE FINISHED THE INVESTIGATION. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN BOTH OF MY AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. CHRYSLER AFTER TWO WEEKS OF TOYING WITH ME OFFERED TO 1 TOTAL MY CAR AND PAY ME KELLY BLUE BOOK VALUE OR 2 GIVE ME 1,000 DOLLARS AND WAIT UNTIL PARTS CAME IN. THEY TOLD ME HOWEVER THEY DID NOT KNOW WHEN PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE IN THE US AND THAT THEY WERE NOT GOING TO PAY FOR THE INSIDE DAMAGE CREATED BY THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYING. I HAVE TWO FAMILY MEMBERS WHO DRIVE VEHICLES IN WHICH THIS RECALL APPLIES TO. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND TO ANYONE THAT THEY SHOULD PURCHASE A VEHICLE FROM CHRYSLER. THEY DO NOT HELP AT ALL EVEN WHEN THEY KNOW IT IS THEIR FAULT. THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND ARE DOING NOTHING TO THE 700,000 PLUS PEOPLE DRIVING THESE VEHICLES. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 40 MPH ON A FOUR LANE HIGHWAY IN TRAFFIC WHEN MY CAR ENGINE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. THE BRAKES SEIZED UP, BUT I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR OFF ON THE SHOULDER. AFTER TRYING SEVERAL TIME TO RESTART THE CAR, I CALLED FOR ASSISTANCE. BY THE TIME ASSISTANCE ARRIVED, I WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR AND I DROVE IT APPROXIMATELY FIVE MILE TO MY JEEP DEALER. THEY FOUND THAT THE CRANK SENSOR WAS FAULTY AND THAT WAS WHY THE ENGINE HAD SHUT DOWN. THE COST TO REPLACE THE SENSOR WAS $275; HOWEVER, BECAUSE SHUTTING DOWN THE ENGINE CAUSED THE BREAKS TO SEIZE UP, THE BREAKS AND CALIPERS HAD TO BE REPLACED INCREASING THE TOTAL COST OF REPAIRS TO $1567. IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED WHEN THIS OCCURRED I WOULD PROBABLY NOT BE WRITING THIS LETTER. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AND I REAR ENDED A TRUCK DRIVING BETWEEN 30 AND 35 MILES PER HOUR. BRAKES WERE NOT APPLIED THERE WERE NO SKID MARKS. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. I CONTACTED JEEP SERVICE REGARDING THE ISSUE AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. I ASKED TO PLEASE SCHEDULE MY VEHICLE FOR SERVICE ON THIS RECALL AND WAS TOLD THAT NO ONE IN THE UNITED STATES HAD THE PARTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE CAR SHOULD BE RECALLED BECAUSE THE DRIVER SEAT DESIGN/MANUFACTURE IS DEFECTIVE. I FIRST NOTICED A CLICKING NOISE WHEN IN THE CAR. I BECAME ACCUSTOMED TO THE NOISE AND BASICALLY OVERLOOKED IT FOR MONTHS. ONE DAY WHEN GETTING INTO THE CAR IN A PARKING LOT I LANDED IN THE BACK SEAT. AS I WAS GETTING INTO THE CAR THE DRIVER SEAT TILTED BACKWARDS LIKE A ROCKING CHAIR AND I WAS HALFWAY DUMPED HEAD FIRST (UPSIDE DOWN) INTO THE REAR OF THE CAR. I WAS NOT INJURED. I LOOKED UNDER THE SEAT AND WAS ABLE TO SEE THAT THE SEAT FRAME IS BOLTED TO THE CAR AND THAT THE FRONT OF THE SEAT IS ATTACHED TO THE SEAT FRAME BY TWO VERY THIN "CAST IRON" BRACKETS. THE TWO BRACKETS (LEFT AND RIGHT) HAD BOTH SIMPLY SHEARED OFF AND THERE IS NOTHING HOLDING THE FRONT OF THE SEAT TO THE SEAT FRAME (THE REAR OF THE SEAT IS STILL ATTACHED TO THE FRAME). I SPECULATE THAT THE BRACKETS JUST GAVE OUT OVERTIME FROM THE SIMPLE ACTIVITY OF GETTING INTO AND OUT OF THE CAR. I WAS LUCKY THE CAR WAS PARKED AND I WAS SIMPLY GETTING INTO THE CAR WHEN THE BRACKETS GAVE OUT. IF IN FACT I HAD BEEN REAR-ENDED I EXPECT I WOULD HAVE BEEN THROWN OUT OF THE SEAT (SEAT BELTS OR NOT) AND SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED. I REPORTED THIS ON THE JEEP FACEBOOK PAGE SO OTHER FOLKS COULD BE AWARE OF THE POTENTIAL DANGER. JEEP RESPONDED TO ME ON FACEBOOK, EMAIL AND TELEPHONE BUT BASICALLY SAID IT WAS A 10 YEAR OLD CAR AND THE DEFECT WAS NOT THEIR PROBLEM - SORRY! WHEN LOOKING ONLINE TO FIND OUT HOW TO REPAIR THE SEAT I DISCOVERED WHAT APPEARS TO BE THOUSANDS OF CONSUMER COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME EXACT DEFECT. IN FACT COMPANIES HAVE BEEN STARTED TO MAKE FRAMES AND BRACKETS JUST TO FIX THIS DEFECT AND I AM FEARFUL THAT PEOPLE HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN ACCIDENT (OR KILLED) BECAUSE OF THE DEFECT. IN MY OPINION NO ONE SHOULD BE DRIVING AROUND IN A 2003 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE UNLESS THE DEFECT IS REPAIRED. *TR
