VISIBILITY:DEFROSTER/DEFOGER HEATING SYSTEM. MY WIFE AND I PURCHASED OUR 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IN AUGUST OF 06 WITH 38,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. WHILE SHE HAD IT IN FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE SHE TOLD THE TECH ABOUT NOISES IN THE DASH AND HE RESPONDED WITH IT SUPPOSED TO SOUND LIKE THAT. NOW 12,000 MILES LATER THE JEEP HAS NO HEAT AT ALL AND WE NEED TO PAY $1,000 TO FIX SOMETHING THAT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE WITH THE INTENSION ON KEEPING IT FOR MORE THAN 100,000 MILES. IF WE KEEP THE JEEP THIS LONG IT LOOKS LIKE WE'LL HAVE TO HAVE THIS FIXED AGAIN IF IT BREAKS EVERY 50,000 MILES. I DIDN'T SEE HEAT AS AN OPTION ON THE WINDOW STICKER. *TR
TL* - THE CONTACT CALLED REGARDING THE 2004 CHRYSLER JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO PARK, BUT THE VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING. THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY REGAINED THE POWER STEERING. THE DEALER/MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE STEERING GEAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED RECALL 03V079000 WAS FOR THE SAME FAILURE. HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN. *AK UPDATE 05/04/07*TR
CAR WAS PARKED IN GARAGE. I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, PUT THE CAR INTO REVERSE AND THE CAR LITERALLY SHOT OUT OF THE GARAGE STRAIGHT INTO A TREE. MY DRIVEWAY IS CURVED - FORTUNATELY THE TREE STOPPED THE CAR OR I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE STREET. IMPACT TOTALED THE CAR, BROKE THE GAS TANK WHICH MAY CAUSE ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES ON MY PROPERTY. IT PROBABLY TOOK LESS THAN 2 SECONDS TO TRAVEL OUT OF THE GARAGE AND THEN 54 FEET UP THE DRIVEWAY INTO THE TREE. I FELT AS IF IT WERE AIRBORNE. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
IN JUNE OF 2006, MY FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW FELL DOWN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE REPLACED AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE REGULATOR. I HAD TO PAY $200 OUT OF POCKET. THE SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED TO MY LEFT PASSENGER WINDOW IN MARCH OF 2007. THIS TIME IT COST ME OVER $400. DAIMLER CHRYSLER HAS NOT BEEN COOPERATIVE. OBVIOUSLY THIS IS A JEEP DEFECT AS THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED TO BOTH WINDOWS, BOTH OF WHICH I RARELY USE. *JB
NO HEAT
REAR PASSENGER (ELECTRIC) WINDOW FELL DOWN AND WOULD NOT GO BACK UP. I PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE (70K) WITH A $100 DOLLAR DEDUCTIBLE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO HAVE THE PROBLEM FIXED AND WAS CHARGED A $98 FEE TO LOOK AT THE PROBLEM. I WAS CALLED THE NEXT DAY AND INFORMED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY ANOTHER $98 TO FURTHER DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. WHEN I TOLD THE DEALERSHIP I WOULD NOT PAY ANYMORE MONEY BECAUSE OF MY WARRANTY, THEY DISCONNECTED THE SWITCH AND ROLLED THE WINDOW UP INSTEAD. THIS PROBLEM REMAINS UNRESOLVED. *TR
2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 4.7 V8. STALLS AT STOPS. VEHICLE THEN HAS TO BE RESTARTED BEFORE TRAFFIC CRASHES INTO YOU. JEEP CANNOT LOCATE PROBLEM AND IS UNWILLING TO AID OR CORRECT PROBLEM. VEHICLES HAS DONE THIS A DOZEN TIMES WITHIN A MONTH.
HEATER BLEND DOOR BREAKING. *JB
TL* - THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE'S FRONT ROTORS WERE WARP DUE TO POOR CALIPER DESIGN. HE NEEDED TO UPGRADE THE OE-UM ON THE BRAKE CALIPER AND DISC. WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH WITH DRY WEATHER HE APPLIED THE BRAKES, BUT THE BRAKE THE PEDAL PULSATED ABNORMALLY. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS, BUT THE PARTS WERE DIFFICULT TO FIND. HE RETURNED FOR REPAIRS TWICE, BUT THEY DID NOT DO ANY THING TO VEHICLE BECAUSE IT WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29500, AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 30300.*AK
THE RETRACTABLE LOCKING MECHANISM ON BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT REAR PASSENGER SEAT BELTS ARE NO LONGER LOCKING. INFANT CAR SEATS SECURED IN BOTH THE LEFT REAR AND RIGHT REAR SEATS ARE NO LONGER STABILIZED WITH THE SEAT BELTS. *JB
TL* - THE CONTACT CALLED REGARDING THE 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED ON 2/27/06 THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEATED SEAT ELEMENT WAS REPLACED DUE TO THE DRIVER'S SEAT CATCHING ON FIRE. THE SEAT WAS ALSO REPLACED. ON FEBRUARY 2, 2007 THE SEAT STARTED TO SMOKE. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO TURN THE SWITCH OFF BEFORE ANY FURTHER DAMAGE WAS DONE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEFECTIVE HEATED SEAT ELEMENT WAS REPLACED WITH ANOTHER DEFECTIVE HEATED SEAT ELEMENT. THE CONTACT RECEIVED RECALL 06V197000 FOR THE HEATED SEAT ELEMENT.*AK

HEAT/VENTILATION SYSTEM FAILING TO TEMPER AIR IN CABIN PROPERLY DUE TO DEFECTIVE BLEND AIR DOOR MECHANISM. *NM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO MISFIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE CAM SHAFT POSITION SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
I OWN A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED WITH 66,000 MILES. IN AUGUST 2006, THE AC QUIT FUNCTIONING WHEN AIR TEMPERATURES EXCEEDED 85F. AFTER A RECALIBRATING, EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE. BUT WHEN THE TEMPERATURE DROPPED THE PASSENGER HEAT FAILED WHILE THE DRIVERS SIDE CONTINUED TO FUNCTION. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE "BLEND AIR ASSEMBLY" PER THE TSB - AT MY EXPENSE. DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM SO THEY RECALIBRATED THE SYSTEM AGAIN. WORKED FOR ABOUT 1 MONTH. THEN NO HEAT ON THE DRIVER SIDE WHILE PASSENGER SIDE HAS HEAT FROM THE TOP VENT BUT NOT THE LOWER. THE RIGHT SIDE BLEND DOORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE & SYSTEM RECALIBRATED 4 TIMES- AGAIN AT MY EXPENSE. STILL NO HEAT ON DRIVERS SIDE OR LOWER PASSENGER SIDE. KEEPING THE WINDSHIELD IS PROBLEMATIC IN POOR WEATHER CONDITIONS. SERVICE MANAGER SAYS HE ISN'T GETTING ANY HELP FROM DAIMLER CHRYSLER. AS TEMPERATURES HAVE BEEN BELOW ZERO THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. *JB

I OWN A JEEP GC LIMITED, LAST WEEK THE HEATER FAILED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE VENTS, AND HAVE NOT BEEN RESTORED YET. *JB

TL* - THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACTS VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO ENGAGE THE BRAKES, WHICH ALMOST CAUSED A COLLISION ON THE HIGHWAY. NO MATTER HOW HARD HE APPLIED THE BRAKES THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP IMMEDIATELY. THIS FAILURE OCCURRED ON TWO OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE GAS PEDAL AND BRAKE PEDAL WERE TOO CLOSE TOGETHER AND HE WAS ENGAGING BOTH AT ONE TIME. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE CONTACT HAD SPOKEN TO SEVERAL OWNERS AND THEY ARE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE. FAILURE OF CLIMATE CONTROL "BLEND DOOR MECHANISM. THIS IS THE 2ND JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE I HAVE OWNED AND IT HAS HAPPENED TO BOTH VEHICLES. WHEN IT FAILS, YOU CANNOT CONTROL THE A/C OR HEAT ON EACH SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. REPAIRED ON BOTH VEHICLES AT A COST OF $1650 AND $1500 RESPECTIVELY. THE FIRST VEHICLE IS NOW BROKEN AGAIN, WHICH WILL COST ANOTHER $1500-1700 TO REPAIR FOR THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
I HAVE CLOD AIR BLASTING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE, EVEN WHEN THE HEAT IS ON, AND NOISES COMING FROM THE UNDER SIDE OF THE DASH. THE DEALER TOLD ME IT WAS THE BLEND OR DOOR AS SOON AS A I CALLED AND THEY EVEN KNEW WHAT IT WOULD COST TO FIX IT. I ASKED IF THIS WAS COMMON SINCE HE SEEMED TO KNOW IMMEDIATELY THEY TOLD ME KNOW, BUT WHEN I WENT TO THE DEALER TO GET FIXED I OVERHEARD A CONVERSATION OF ANOTHER JEEP OWNER WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, I PAID OVER $1200 TO GET THIS FIXED. *JB

A FEW WEEKS LATER THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AS HAVING A CRACKED FUEL LINE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT IWASCONCERNED WITH THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HAS NOT PICKED UP THE VEHICLE FROM THE DEALER, AND STATED THAT THE DEALER REFUSED TO SPEAK TO HER. *AK

THE DEALER REPLACED THE TRANSFER CASE, ROTORS, AND THE BRAKE PADS ON THREE OCCASIONS; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 97,000.
THE BLEND DOORS IN MY CHRYSLER 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAVE DETERIORATED AND FALLEN INTO THE PLENUM BOX WHERE THEY ARE HOUSED. I HAVE LEARNED FROM THE DEALERSHIP THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT BY THE CHRYSLER ENGINEERS. MY WINDOWS FROST UP DO TO NOT HAVING ANY HEAT CREATING A DANGEROUS SITUATION DUE TO THE FACT I CANNOT SEE OUT MY WINDOWS . THE DEALERSHIP AND REPAIR SHOPS WANT OVER A THOUSAND DOLLARS TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE FELT A PINCH ON HER LOWER BACK NOTICED A HOLE, AND A RED GLOWING ILLUMINATING LIGHT FROM THE SEAT. THE CONTACT TURNED THE HEATED SEAT SWITCH OFF AND ATTEMPTED TO PUSH ON THE SEAT TO REMOVE THE RED GLOW. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TURN THE TEMPERATURE DOWN. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE SEAT AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS A RECALL 06V197000 FOR THE HEATED SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, AND THERE HAVE BEEN NO FAILURES SINCE THE REPAIR. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 28,000. *AK
SINCE PURCHASED IN 3/06, 2004 GC V8 WHILE IDLING, REPEATEDLY DIES, OR NEARLY DIES BUT RECOVERS ONLY TO CAUSE A LURCHING FORWARD IF IN GEAR. WILL DIE IN GEAR OR IN PARK AND I AM ABLE TO START IT AGAIN RIGHT AWAY. DEALER, AFTER THREE TRIES CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. MAY GO TWO WEEKS WITHOUT HAPPENING, MAY HAPPEN TWICE IN ONE DAY. *NM
ENTIRE CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM DIED. INCLUDES HEAT AND DEFROST SYSTEM. WE HAD A HIGH OF 38 DEGREES THIS WEEKEND WITH SNOW AND ICE AND WAS UNABLE TO DEFROST MY WINDOWS WHILE DRIVING. *JB

WHEN THE CONTACT PARKED AND EXITED THE VEHICLE, IT SPONTANEOUSLY SHIFTED INTO REVERSE, AND ACCELERATED BACKWARDS, STRIKING THE SIDE OF THE RESIDENCE WITH THE FRONT LEFT DOOR OF THE VEHICLE. IT WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER, WHO WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO NOTIFIED

LOUD CREAKING SOUND COMING FROM ITS UNDERSIDE WHEN YOU TURN ON YOUR VENTILATION. THERE CREAKING FROM THE DASH SECONDS AFTER SHUTTING THE ENGINE OFF. THERE STRANGE NUMBERS POPPING-UP ON YOUR CLIMATE CONTROL DISPLAY. COLD BLOWS FROM ONE SIDE OF THE DASH EVEN WHEN THE HEAT IS TURNED ON. *NM

NO SPECIFIC EVENT LED TO THE FAILURE. TURNED THE CAR ON ONE DAY AND THE HEAT/DEFROST SYSTEM NO LONGER WORKED. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS A CLICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER, WHO DETERMINED THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOOSE ALONG THE COLUMN AND NEEDED TO BE TIGHTENED. AFTER THE INITIAL TIGHTENING OF THE STEERING WHEEL, A LOUD, POPPING NOISE WAS HEARD WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE TILT WHEEL KNOB NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTERWARDS, THE PROBLEM PERSISTED, AND THE DEALER DETERMINED THE STEERING WHEEL NEEDED TO BE TIGHTENED AGAIN, AND DUE TO THE LOOSENESS IT CAUSED THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG TO FAIL WHICH WOULD ALSO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED. UPDATED 01/10/07. *JB

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE MOTOR TO THE ADJUSTABLE PEDALS BECAME INOPERABLE CAUSING THE ACCELERATOR AND BRAKE PEDALS TO BE OUT OF ALIGNMENT. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL MOVED DOWN AND THE BRAKE PEDAL MOVED UP. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE MOTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
2004 GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED 43,000 MILES NO HEAT ON PASSENGER SIDE. PURCHASED USED AT 38,000 MILES FROM CHRYSLER DEALER. FLORIDA RESIDENT AND DID NOT TRY HEAT UNTIL DECEMBER. *NM
LOCKS FAILED IN DECEMBER OF 2006. CANNOT LOCK UP THE CAR. DEALER CHARGED ME 100.00 DOLLARS TO TELL ME THAT THE UNIT INSIDE THE DOOR FAILED. WANTS 500.00 DOLLARS TO REPAIR IT. THE CAR IS A 2004 MODEL JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL FOUR GOODYEAR P225/75R16 TIRES HAVE DEVELOPED A CRACK AROUND THE RIM. THE CRACKS HAVE BEGUN TO GROW LARGER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CRACKS ARE NORMAL. THE VEHICLE DOES NOT DRIVE DIFFERENTLY. THE DOT NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 21,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000.

2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 'BLEND DOOR' BREAKS CAUSING NO HEAT TO GET TO THE WINDSHIELD FOR DEFROSTING. DEALERSHIPS STATE IT IS A $1200 - $1500 FIX AND IT IS VERY COMMON FOR THIS PROBLEM TO OCCUR ON MOST TRUCKS OF THIS MODEL YEAR. IN WINTER MONTHS YOU CANNOT DEFROST YOUR WINDSHIELD OR GET HEAT TO THE INTERIOR. THIS FIX IS A MECHANICAL FLAW, NOT AN OWNER ISSUE YET CHRYSLER MAKES YOU PAY TO REPAIR THEIR FAULTY ENGINEERING. *NM
WHEN DRIVING MY 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IN COLD WEATHER WITH RAIN OR ANY MOISTURE ON THE WINDSHIELD THE HVAC DUCTS WILL BLOW COLD AIR ON THE WINDSHIELD CAUSING THE WINDSHIELD TO FREEZE QUICKER WHILE DECREASING MY VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE TENDS TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM 7 OUT OF 10 STARTS AND SOME TIMES RESETS IT SELF ONLY WHEN THE JEEP HAS BEEN SITTING FOR AT LEAST 3 TO 5 HOURS. THE DEALER CLAIMED IT WAS IN WORKING ORDER BUT I TOLD THEM THERE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT CAUSED ME TO NEARLY HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME WHILE DRIVING WHEN THE WINDSHIELD INSTANTLY STARTED TO FREEZE UP. LUCKILY I KEPT SPRAYING WASHER FLUID TO CLEAR THE WINDOW IN TIME BEFORE I GOT INTO A MAJOR ACCIDENT. *JB
