THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000. WHILE DRIVING AND SPEEDING UP TO SWITCH LANES, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS FLOORED ALONE AND THE CAR TOOK OFF SPEEDING. I ATTEMPTED TO TAP ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BUT THAT DID NOT WORK SO I THEN PUMPED THE BRAKES A FEW TIMES BEFORE IT SLOWED DOWN. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 25 MPH BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO SWITCH LANES AND WHEN THE PEDAL GOT STUCK THE SPEED WENT UP TO 60 MPH.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE HAS A TENDENCY TO EITHER NOT CHANGE GEARS (REV UP) OR EVEN SLIP INTO NEUTRAL. IT'S CREATING A SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED. AT TIMES I AM ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TURN VEHICLE OFF AND SHIFT IT BACK IN GEAR WHICH SOMETIMES I HAVE TO DO IT MORE THAN ONE TIME.
CAR ACCIDENT OCCURRED AND 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. CAR WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY HIGHWAY IN A 40 MPH ZONE. COLLISION OCCURRED AT 30 MILES PER HOUR. JEEP REAR-ENDED A STOPPED VEHICLE AND NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. DRIVER OF JEEP SUFFERED HEAD CONTUSION AND MULTIPLE BROKEN BONES IN HAND.
TAKATA RECALL - AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY WHEN THE JEEP HAD A HEAD TO TAIL COLLISION.

I BOUGHT MY VEHICAL USED IN JUNE. (2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED WITH 160,000 MILES) I TOOK IT BACK TO DEALER WHERE THEY TOLD ME THE BATTERY HAD ISSUES AND THEY "FIXED" THE PROBLEM. I'D BE DRIVING AND IF I CAME TO A STOP I WOULD LOSE ALL POWER AND MY ENGINE WOULD TURN OFF. AT A DRIVE THROUGH, IT WOULD DIE, AT A STOP LIGHT, DIE. IN OCTOBER MY ISSUES STARTED UP AGAIN. NOW THE SAME THINGS ARE HAPPENING BUT EVERY LIGHT ON THE DASH LIGHTS UP, FLASHES/FLUTTER/FLICKERS, HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF, RADIO SHUTS OFF, HVAC SYSTEM SHUTS OFF, BUT ENGINE WILL RUN FOR ABOUT 20MIN THEN I LOSE ALL POWER WHERE EVER I AM, I'LL BE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY GOING 55MPH AND THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF. PULLING INTO THE STORE ENGINE SHUTS OFF. ON MY WAY TO WORK ENGINE JUST SHUT OFF WHILE GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. COASTED AS FAR AS I COULD TO GET TO A SAFE PLACE TO STOP. NOW IT WON'T START AGAIN.

THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY FORCE TO THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE OVER TO A PARKING LOT. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE RESTARTED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN BEFORE THE CONTACT ENTERED A MAJOR HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE DEALER STATED THAT THE REMEDY DID NOT PREVENT THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS WAITING ON APPROVAL FROM THE MANUFACTURER TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 2 MPH, A LOUD ABNORMAL NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WERE ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE AND CONTACTED PORTERVILLE CHRYSLER. DESPITE THE RECALL NOTICE ABOUT INCREASED RISK OF OCCUPANT INJURY AS WELL AS THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE A COLLISION WITHOUT WARNING, THEY SAID THEY HAD NO PARTS TO REPLACE THE ONES CAUSING THE ISSUE, AND THEY HAD NO IDEA WHEN THEY WOULD. THEY CLAIM TO HAVE HAD PARTS ON ORDER FOR OVER A YEAR BUT NONE HAVE BEEN RECEIVED AND THAT THEY COULD NOT HELP ME OUT BY COMPLYING WITH THE RECALL NOTICE.
THE LOCAL DEALER SAYS CHRYSLER CORPORATION HAS NOT MADE THE REPLACEMENT PART AVAILABLE FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH. I HAVE RECEIVED TWO SAFETY RECALL NOTICES IN THE PAST YEAR AND CHRYSLER IS APPARENTLY STILL NOT SUPPLYING DEALERS WITH THE REQUIRED PARTS.
SPEED CONTROL ACCELERATION. DRIVING ON INTERSTATE RETURNING FROM VACATION, CRUISE WAS SET AT 70MPH. WHEN APPROACHING A SLOWER VEHICLE, CRUISE WAS DEACTIVATED AND REACTIVATED WHEN PASS WAS COMPLETED. WHEN REACTIVATED THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT STOP ACCELERATING. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 YEARS AGO AND EVER SINCE I TEST THE CRUISE CONTROL THE PROBLEM OF OUT OF CONTROL ACCELERATION PERSISTS. THE OUT OF CONTROL ACCELERATION CAN BE STOPPED BY STEPPING ON THE BRAKES OR MANUALLY TURNING OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL. I HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT IT AND THEY CANNOT DETERMINE WHAT THE CAUSE IS. I CANNOT EVEN DISABLE THE CRUISE CONTROL WITHOUT EFFECTING OTHER ELECTRONICS. I AM AFRAID TO ALLOW ANYONE ELSE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE IN THE EVENT THEY WOULD UNKNOWING USE THE CRUISE CONTROL AND GET INTO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
SPEED CONTROL ACCELERATES OUT OF CONTROL WHEN SET. HAPPENS CONSISTENTLY WHEN CRUISE IS TURNED ON AND SET BUTTON IS PRESSED. THE ENGINE WILL REV TO 6000 RPM +. MUST DEPRESS BRAKE OR TURN OFF CRUISE SWITCH IN ORDER TO STOP THE ACCELERATION. STARTED HAPPENING WHILE TRAVELING ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AND SPEED CONTROL WAS SET TO POSTED SPEED. VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED ON OPEN STRETCH OF HIGHWAY AND COULD ONLY BE SLOWED DOWN BY TURNING OFF THE SPEED CONTROL. THIS COULD HAVE A DISASTER IF IT HAPPENED IN HEAVIER TRAFFIC.

THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN GIVEN TO THE DEALER TWICE FOR THE 14V-438 SAFETY RECALL SPANNING 2014-2015 AND TWICE IT HASN'T BEEN FIXED. IT'S NOT THE DEALERS FAULT (APPARENTLY) BECAUSE WHOEVER IS SUPPOSED TO BE SENDING THESE PARTS IS NOT DOING SO. FIRST ATTEMPT, THE DEALER HAD NO PARTS BECAUSE CHRYSLER HADN'T SENT ANY PARTS FOR THE RECALL. SECOND ATTEMPT COULD NOT BE COMPLETED BECAUSE CHRYSLER DID NOT SEND ENOUGH PARTS, IT TAKES THREE I'M TOLD, TO MAKE THIS REPAIR. SO YOU GUYS KEEP SENDING ME THESE RECALL THINGS, I KEEP TAKING THE CAR IN, BUT CHRYSLER OBVIOUSLY DOESN'T CARE ENOUGH TO FIX THE POTENTIAL PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY WON'T SEND THE PARTS TO THE DEALER. BUT WE ARE SUPPOSED TO TAKE THESE RECALLS SERIOUSLY ?? CHRYSLER DOESN'T. THEY NO DOUBT ARE HOPING I'LL SELL THE CAR BUT IR'S A 9 YEAR OLD(NEW) VEHICLE WITH ONLY 22000 MILES ON IT AND IS IN CHERRY CONDITION. I BOUGHT IT NEW AND "IT" WILL PROBABLY OUTLIVE ME.

WHILE DRIVING 7 MPH DOWN A RESIDENTIAL STREET GOING STRAIGHT AND HAVING THE RIGHT OF WAY ANOTHER DRIVER IGNORED STOP SIGN AND DROVE INTO MY JEEP WITH A FORCE AND SENT THE JEEP TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STREET. AIR BAGS NEVER INFLATED, AND DOOR LOCK WOULD NOT LOCK WITH REMOTE ANY LONGER AND CAR LOOSES LIGHT, AND ENTIRE DASH BOARD, AC AND HEAT ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK. "TAKATA RECALL" I WAS INVOLVED IN A SIDE IMPACT AUTO ACCIDENT, AIR BAGS NEVER INFLATED AND I WAS INJURED. I WAS DRIVING AS A MOTORIST WENT THRU A STOP SIGN AND PUSH THE JEEP INTO THE OTHER LANE OF TRAFFIC, I WAS GOING STRAIGHT ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, MY VEHICLE HAS SHOWN SYMPTOMS THAT APPEAR TO BE RELATED TO THE RECENT CHRYSLER IGNITION SWITCH RECALL. ONE PERSISTING PROBLEM IS WHEN I AM DRIVING WITH MY HEADLIGHTS ON, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS (DASHBOARD, RADIO, AND CLIMATE CONTROL ILLUMINATION) AND ALL EXTERIOR LIGHTS (HEADLIGHTS, TAIL LIGHTS, AND ANY OTHER ILLUMINATED POSITION LIGHTS) WILL RAPIDLY FLASH ON AND OFF. CURRENTLY, MY REMEDY FOR THIS PROBLEM, WHEN IT IS HAPPENING, IS TO TURN ON THE TURNING INDICATOR WHICH APPEARS TO RETURN THE LIGHTS TO NORMAL. MORE RECENTLY, WHILE LEAVING MY NEIGHBORHOOD, ALL OF MY DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND THEN THE DASHBOARD WENT DARK ALL TOGETHER. THE REMEDY FOR THIS PROBLEM WAS TO TURN THE CAR COMPLETELY OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN. LAST BUT NOT LEAST, WHILE TRAVELING ABOUT 65 MPH ON A HIGHWAY, MY KNEE BUMPED THE IGNITION KEY WHICH SWITCHED THE CAR TO THE ACCESSORY POSITION, RENDERING THE CAR POWERLESS.
