I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE ON AUGUST 13, 2014 FROM DICK SCOTT DODGE USED VEHICLE DEPARTMENT. IN JANUARY 2015, THE CAR WOULD NOT START AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO DICK SCOTT DODGE. THE STARTER HAD TO BE REPLACED ON THE VEHICLE. TODAY, MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AGAIN AND HAD TO BE TOWED YET AGAIN TO DICK SCOTT DODGE FOR REPAIR. THERE IS A PENDING RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE THAT CANNOT BE COMPLETED AT THIS TIME DUE TO THE PARTS NOT BEING AVAILABLE. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS MODEL AND YEAR VEHICLE HAS BEEN KNOWN TO HAVE FAULTY STARTER ISSUES. *TR

I WAS NOTIFIED OF A RECALL EARLIER THIS YEAR CONCERNING THE WIRELESS IGNITION NODE (WIN). WHEN I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD THAT THE PART IN QUESTION WAS ON BACK ORDER (PART # R57XBN) AND WAS TOLD TO CHECK BACK TO SEE WHEN THEY WOULD COME IN. ABOUT THREE OR FOUR WEEKS AGO I STOPPED IN AT BOB AND CHUCK EDDY, 4850 MAHONING AVENUE, AUSTINTOWN, OHIO AND SPOKE WITH SANTANA WILLIAMS WHO MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR ME TODAY AT 9:30. WHEN I ARRIVED TO DROP OF MY VEHICLE I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WAS NO APPOINTMENT FOR ME. I THEN EXPLAINED THE ISSUE AND HANDED HIM HER CARD WITH MY APPOINTMENT INFORMATION ON IT. I WAS THEN TOLD NOT TO WORRY THEY WILL TAKE CARE OF ME. AT THIS POINT THE PERSON I WAS TALKING TO DISAPPEARED FOR A WHILE AND UPON RETURNING INFORMED ME THAT THE PART WAS NOT IN. HE THEN GAVE ME THE PART NUMBER AND TOLD ME TO CALL EVERY WEEK UNTIL IT CAME IN AND THEN THEY WOULD SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. IT APPEARS THAT THE PLAN IS TO JUST KEEP PUTTING IT OFF UNTIL I GET AN ACCIDENT OR JUST TRADE IN THE VEHICLE.

I WAS PARKED AND WHEN I TURNED THE KEY IT STUCK AFTER THE CAR TRIED TO START BACK IN THE ACCESSORY POSITION. I ASKED THE DEALER HOW LONG BEFORE THE DETAILS AND PARTS WOULD BE IN. WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE JEEP SHUT OFF. NO POWER AT ALL. WHEEL LOCKED AND WE ABOUT CRASHED. THOUGHT MAYBE THE IGNITION KICKED BACK. (RECALL). NOPE THERE WASN'T ANY POWER AT ALL AFTER TRYING TO RESTART THE JEEP. CALLED THE DEALER. THEY SAID CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE WIN FAILING AND ARE AWARE OF THE TSB BUT REFUSE TO RECALL THE JEEPS BECAUSE THEY SAY IT'S TOO EXPENSIVE TO RECALL ALL THE VEHICLES AFFECTED BY THESE ISSUES. SO TO RECAP.... WE ALMOST CRASHED THE JEEP AT 55MPH WHICH WOULD HAVE KILLED MY WIFE, OUR YOUNG TWIN BOYS, AND MYSELF. BUT FOR CHRYSLER TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES WOULD BE TOO EXPENSIVE. SO AFTER A $200 TOW BILL AND 2 HOURS IN -20 DEGREES IN AN OHIO WINTER WITH NO HEAT THE JEEP STILL WON'T START. AFTER A LITTLE BIT OF RESEARCH I'VE HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THE CHRYSLER ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS ARE VERY POOR AND ANY STATIC ELECTRICITY WILL SHORT THEM OUT. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THESE ISSUES BEFORE SOMEONE LOSES A FAMILY MEMBER OR THEIR OWN LIFE. I WILL GLADLY SELL THIS VEHICLE BACK TO CHRYSLER FOR THE AMOUNT I PAID. I HAVE PAID 10K AND OWE 9K STILL. PLEASE FORCE THEM TO DO SOMETHING! ANYTHING AT ALL!

I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN NOVEMBER FROM CHRYSLER STATING THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. RECALL #P57, AN ISSUE WITH THE IGNITION. THIS COULD CAUSE LOSE OF ELECTRICAL FEATURES WHILE DRIVING, INCLUDING LOSE OF POWER, STEERING, BRAKES, AND COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF CRASH. THE CATCH IS THERE IS NO PART AVAILABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. LUCKILY MY CAR DIDN'T CRASH, HOWEVER IT DID FAIL TO START. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED (80 MILES) TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS THE RECALL. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND CHRYSLER AND THERE IS NOTHING ANYONE CAN DO TO HELP ME. MY CAR, THAT I TAKE VERY GOOD CARE AND KEEP ON TOP OF ALL MAINTENANCE, IS NOW A SITTING DUCK. NO ONE CAN GIVE ME ANY INFORMATION ON WHEN A PART MAY BE AVAILABLE AND NO ONE CAN HELP ME TO GET A CAR SO THAT I CAN GET TO AND FROM MY JOB AND LIVE MY DAILY LIFE. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED REPEATEDLY THAT CHRYSLER IS "WORKING DILIGENTLY" TO COME UP WITH A SOLUTION. TO ME IT SEEMS CRAZY THAT THEY CAN'T COME UP WITH A PART TO FIX AN IGNITION! THERE ARE IGNITIONS IN EVERY CAR! AT THIS POINT I CONSIDER THIS SITUATION GROSS NEGLIGENCE AND CHRYSLER COULD BE PUTTING SOMEWHERE AROUND 300,000 DRIVERS AT RISK OF DEATH BECAUSE THEY CANNOT AND WILL NOT FIX THIS PROBLEM. I DON'T LIVE VERY CLOSE TO MY WORK AND THERE IS NO PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION. MY CAR IS A NECESSITY IN MY LIFE AND CHRYSLER HAS TAKEN THAT AWAY FROM ME AND OFFERS ME NO SUPPORT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE STARTER AND BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS SIMILAR TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V567000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.

ON DECEMBER 24, 2013, MY 2008 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE STOPPED IN A PARKING LOT IN BUFFALO AND THE IGNITION KEY WAS NOT WORKING. I WAS STRANDED IN THE COLD IN THE MIDDLE OF NIGHT. THE JEEP WAS TOWED TO THE JEEP DEALER. THE DEALER ORDERED THE PART AND FIXED THE CAR WITH A NEW PART TO FIX THE IGNITION PROBLEM. IN JANUARY 2015, I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE ABOUT IGNITION KEY AND MAILED THE CLAIM FOR REIMBURSEMENT WITH THE PAID RECEIPT OF REPAIR PERFORMED ON 1/6/2014. I HAVE MAILED TWO LETTERS FOR REQUEST FOR REIMBURSEMENT, BUT I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY RESPONSE OR PAYMENT FROM JEEP CHRYSLER. THANK YOU.
WHILE ON THE FREEWAY MY JEEP'S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHUT OFF. AS A RESULT OF THE SYSTEM FAILURE, MY STEERING WAS LOST AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO LOOSE ACCELERATION. WHILE IN MOTION THE VEHICLE WAS HEADING INTO A TURN ON THE FREEWAY. I WAS ABLE TO STEER THE CAR IN ORDER TO AVOID A WALL BUT I WAS FORCED TO DRIVE OFF THE ROAD. WHEN THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER THREE ATTEMPTS. *TR
WHILE ON AN INTERSTATE EXPRESSWAY, ENGINE IGNITION CUT OUT, LOOSING POWER. BY SHIFTING TO NEUTRAL & USING THE FOB-KEY, ENGINE WAS STARTED WHILE MOVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED REPEATEDLY ABOUT SIX TIMES LATELY. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE DEFECT IN THE IGNITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY. CONTRARY TO CHRYSLER INFO (P57; NHTSA 14V-567), I BELIEVE THE FOB-KEY WAS IN THE "RUN" DETENT POSITION WHEN THIS EVENT OCCURRED. (CHRYSLER SAYS THIS PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN THE FOB-KEY PASSES THE RUN POSITION AFTER STARTING). EITHER WAY, THE IGNITION SWITCH IS PROBABLY FAULTY. CHRYSLER HAS NOT MADE AVAILABLE AN IMPROVED IGNITION KEY ASSEMBLY PER THEIR PROMISE, AND CURRENTLY THE OLD IGNITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY IS BACKORDERED, SO I CAN NOT AFFECT ANY CORRECTIVE ACTION. LOSS OF POWER IN A CONGESTED TRAFFIC SITUATION, OR DURING MANEUVERING CAN CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL AND A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I SEEK A TIMELY REMEDY TO THIS UNSAFE SITUATION. *TR
PROBLEM STARTED WITH THE KEY FOB NOT RELEASING WHEN TRYING TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AND WILL STICK BETWEEN THE IGNITION AND AUXILIARY POSITIONS. I HAVE TO WAIT FOR 10-15 MINUTES OR DISCONNECT THE BATTERY CABLES IN ORDER TO REMOVE THE KEY FOB AND LOCK MY VEHICLE. NOW THE KEY FOB WILL MOVE TO THE AUXILIARY POSITION OR IN BETWEEN THE AUXILIARY AND ON POSITION WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS CAUSED THE ENGINE TO STALL AND ALMOST CAUSED ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE.
