THE DASH BOARD LIT UP AND COULD NOT START THE CAR. ELECTRICAL IN THE CAR WHILE DRIVING WAS LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE ON THE DASH BOARD. FOUND THAT THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE WAS NO GOOD. ALSO FOUND OUT ONLY SOME CARS ARE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL NOT ALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH ATTEMPTING TO SLOW DOWN, THE BRAKES FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE CONTACT APPLIED FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL AS THE VEHICLE COASTED TO A STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE CONTACT REQUESTED THAT THE VEHICLE BE INSPECTED BY AN INSPECTOR FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE INSPECTOR WAS NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE OR DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS NOT NOTIFIED BUT THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE CONTACT WAS INCLUDED IN RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V154000 (SERVICE BRAKES AND SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). JEEP HARD TO START WHEN ENGINE IS COLD DUE TO FAULTY TIPM AND FUEL RELAY. JEEP WILL ATTEMPT TO START, BUT WILL NOT TURN OVER. JEEP LOSES THROTTLE AND DIES AT IDLE. *TR
WAS DRIVING AND THE VEHICLE STOP ON THE HIGHWAY, GOT OUT OF THE WAY FROM TRAFFIC. I TRIED TO START THE VEHICLE BUT IT TRY TO TURN OVER. I LET GO OF THE KEY IT WAS STILL TRYING TO START BY ITSELF. IT FINALLY STARTED I DROVE IT HOME. I TRIED TO START THE JEEP IT JUST TURN OVER WITHOUT STARTING LET GO OF THE KEY IT STILL TRYING TO START ON ITS OWN. I CALLED THE DEALER AND TALKED WITH SERVICE DEPT, SERVICE ADVISOR NAME IS [XXX] . HE TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN. I DROVE IT TO THE DEALER ON 9/23/14. GOT MY CAR BACK ON 9/26/14. I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE TIPM, {TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE}. I GOT A RECALL NOTICE FROM CHRYSLER GROUP, SAFETY RECALL NOTICE. CHRYSLER CHARGED ME $1,307.48 TO REPLACE THE TIPM. THEN I HAD TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE BRAKE BOOSTER HAD IT FIXED THE SAME TIME FOR THE TIPM. I GOT HOME WITH THE VEHICLE I WHEN TO THE STORE GOT UP THE STREET THE BRAKES WHEN TO THE FLOOR. IT FRIGHTEN THE HELL OUT OF ME. GOT THAT FIXED THEN THE BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON PLUS NO BRAKE LIGHTS, LOOKS LIKE I WAS RIDING MY BRAKES, HAD TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER AGAIN. ON FRIDAY, 9/19/14, MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ALMOST KILLED ME. I WAS DRIVING BETWEEN VA AND NY VIA I-81 FOR A FAMILY FUNERAL. I STOPPED HALF-WAY THERE FOR LUNCH AND THEN EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM STARTING IT. HITTING THE START BUTTON, IT WOULD NOT START, AND WOULD NOT STOP TRYING TO DO SO - IT KEPT CRANKING AND WOULD NOT STOP UNTIL I OPENED THE DOOR. IT DID THIS 3-4X, AND THEN IT STARTED. IT HAD NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE. I CONTINUED ON, MORE CAUTIOUSLY. AN HOUR LATER, WHILE PASSING SEVERAL BIG RIGS, PART OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING. I LOST POWER STEERING, ACCELERATOR FUNCTION, AND MY DASH LIT UP - AND THE ENGINE CONTINUED RUNNING AND EVEN REVVED DESPITE THE LACK OF THE ACCELERATOR. MY BRAKES ALSO DIDN'T WORK FOR APPROX. 10 SECONDS. THE ROAD CURVED, AND I ALMOST LOST CONTROL AND FLIPPED THE JEEP TRYING TO AVOID THE BIG RIGS, WHICH WERE SLAMMING ON THEIR BRAKES ALL AROUND. ULTIMATELY, I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER WITH NO ACCIDENT OR DAMAGE AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. AFTER 15 MINUTES, IT RE-STARTED, AND I WAS ABLE TO GET TO MY DESTINATION WITH NO OTHER PROBLEMS. UPON ARRIVAL, HOWEVER, I EXPERIENCED THE SAME THINGS WHILE TESTING IT AT VERY LOW SPEEDS ON BACK ROADS. AFTER THE FUNERAL ON SATURDAY, I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP, WHERE IT STILL IS UNDERGOING DIAGNOSTICS. I HAD TO TRAVEL BACK TO VA ON SUNDAY, AND NOW HAVE TO RENT A CAR, DEAL WITH LONG-DISTANCE REPAIRS WITH AN UNKNOWN DEALERSHIP, AND TRAVEL BACK TO NY TO GET IT ONCE REPAIRED. THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED IT SOUNDED LIKE A TIPM ISSUE, WHICH I HAVE LEARNED JEEP/CHRYSLER KNOW ABOUT, BUT HAVE NOT RECALLED. I HAVE PREVIOUSLY EXPERIENCED MINOR ELECTRICAL ISSUES (FLASHLIGHT NEVER WORKED, MULTIPLE BACK BULBS, ETC), WHICH THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED MAY INDICATE TIPM ISSUES SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE, BUT WERE ALWAYS DEALT WITH AS ISOLATED REPAIRS. MY JEEP BECAME INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT TO START. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND IT WAS A TIPM ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP REWIRED THE FUEL PUMP CIRCUIT TO TIPM WITH A STAND-ALONE OUTSIDE RELAY. THIS NEW RELAY IS USED TO TURN-ON THE FUEL PUMP. *TR

DRIVING IN TO WORK AND COMPLETING A CORNER (VEHICLE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 30MPH) WHEN ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING (ACCESSORIES STAYED ON). NO WARNING LIGHTS PREVIOUS TO THE INCIDENT OR AFTER. LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. WAS ABLE TO MUSCLE CAR AROUND THE CORNER AND COASTED TO A STOP. VEHICLE IS PUSH BUTTON START SO I PUSHED BUTTON TO TURN ACCESSORIES OFF, THEN ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE CAR. RESTART WORKED WITH NO WARNING/PROBLEM LIGHTS. COMPLETED DRIVE IN TO WORK WITH NO OTHER PROBLEMS. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED. CALLED DEALER (ZIEGLER KALAMAZOO) AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED AND GOT SOONEST AVAILABLE SERVICE APPOINTMENT (ONE WEEK FROM DAY INCIDENT OCCURRED). CALLED CHRYSLER TO REPORT INCIDENT AS WAS TOLD THEY WOULD MAKE A NOTE IN MY "FILE", BUT COULD/WOULD NOT TAKE ANY OTHER ACTION. CHRYSLER RECOMMENDED WORKING WITH THE DEALER. *TR

MY JEEP WOULD NOT START. I CHECKED ONLINE AND FOUND MANY PEOPLE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM HOWEVER SOME SAID THAT WHEN THEY GOT THE VEHICLE TO START IT WOULD SUDDENLY QUIT RUNNING WHILE DRIVING. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO EXPLAINED THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION TO THE FUEL PUMP WAS THE PROBLEM AND THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE TIPM. THE SERVICE WRITER SAID THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS MORE PREVALENT ON THE 2011 MODEL. IF IT IS TRUE THAT THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PART AND THAT THE FUEL COULD SHUT OFF AT ANY TIME, THIS CERTAINLY SEEMS LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
FILING A COMPLAINT BECAUSE JEEP/CHRYSLER HAS FAILED TO REMEDY A RECALL SITUATION IN A TIMELY MANNER. RECEIVED NOTICE MAY 2014 ON NEED TO RECALL BRAKE BOOSTER, HAVE ATTEMPTED TO SCHEDULE REPAIR SINCE THEN BUT TOLD THERE IS A NATIONWIDE PARTS SHORTAGE AND AM ON A WAITING LIST. WAS TOLD THIS WON'T BE AN ISSUE UNTIL FREEZING WEATHER, BUT LIVE IN NORTHERN MIDWEST AND FREEZING WEATHER IS NOW - STILL NO PROMISE THE PARTS WILL BE IN ANYTIME SOON. *TR

VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. DEALER REPLACED FUEL PUMP RELAY, MENTIONED MANY PEOPLE WERE HAVING THIS ISSUE AND THAT CHRYSLER MAY HAVE/NEED TO RECALL SO KEEP RECEIPT. SUSPECT IT MAY BE THE TIPM. *TR
HELLO, I WAS BROWSING THE INTERNET AFTER RUNNING INTO THE FAULTY TIPM WITH MY 2011 GRAND CHEROKEE. I PURCHASED A CERTIFIED PRE OWNED VEHICLE FROM BUHLER BITTER DEALERSHIP IN HAZLET NJ IN LATE JANUARY/ FEB 2014. THIS PAST FRIDAY I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE PROBLEM LOOKED AT. IN RETURN I WAS GIVEN A BILL FOR OVER 1,500 DOLLARS TO FIX THE ISSUE. THEY TOLD ME THE ISSUE WAS NOT A RECALL AND WAS NOT COVERED BY THE LIMITED WARRANTY I WAS GIVEN. WHEN YOU PUSH THE START BUTTON IT DOESN'T START BUT IF YOU PUSH IT 3 TO 4 TIMES AFTER HESITATION IT STARTS AS LONG AS YOU PULL YOUR FOOT AWAY FROM THE BRAKES BUT A MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT HE HEARS THE FUEL PUMP COMING ON AND STAYING ON EVEN THOUGH THE CAR ISN'T RUNNING. I CALLED CHRYSLER ON MONDAY THE 15TH OF SEPTEMBER AND ACCORDING TO THEM AND THE LOCAL DEALER I HAD TO PAY TO REPAIRS AND IT SOUNDED LIKE A TIPD PROBLEM OR A FUEL PUMP OR THIS OR THAT BUT I HAD TO BRING IT FOR THEM TO LOOK AT AND THEY WILL GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE. I HAVE A GOVERNMENT VEHICLE TO DRIVE TO WORK AND BACK AND I HAD TO DEPEND ON OTHER PEOPLE TO GET TO PLACES AND USE THE JEEP WHEN I HAVE TO YET IT TAKES A FEW MINUTES TO GET IT STARTED UNTIL I CAN FILE A COMPLAINT AFTER ALL THE VEHICLE HAS LOW MILEAGE AND SOUNDED LIKE A DEFECT. THANKFULLY I HEARD ON THE NATIONAL NEWS YESTERDAY THAT THEY ARE RECALLING THE 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE FOR THAT SAME PROBLEM AND AFTER READING OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THE SAME YEAR VEHICLE IT WAS LIKE SEEING A CARBON COPY OF MY COMPLAINT. WHAT HAPPENED TO ME AND MY CHILDREN WHEN THE JEEP STALLED ON CAMP KANATA RD. IN WAKE FOREST, NC WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN. IT FRIGHTENED ME MAINLY FOR MY CHILD. I CURRENTLY HAVE A TIPM ISSUE WHICH CAN SOMETIMES MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO START MY CAR. IN ADDITION, IT CAN CAUSE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING. THE FUEL PUMP NOT TURNING OFF THE AIRBAGS NOT DEPLOYING OR DEPLOYING RANDOMLY THE ENGINE STALLING WHILE DRIVING THE HORN GOING OFF AT RANDOM TIMES. I HAVE A 7 YEAR OLD SON AND I USE THIS VEHICLE EVERYDAY AND I CAN NOT AND WILL NOT PUT MY LIFE, MY SON AND OTHER DRIVERS LIFE AT RISK BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. NOW I HAVE THIS ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT IS NOT SAFE AND I DON'T WAN TO CAUSE ANY DAMAGE TO ANYONE OR MYSELF BECAUSE MY JEEP STALLS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY MY AIRBAGS GO OFF WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSE ME TO HURT SOMEONE OR MYSELF. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF, THE LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING AND THERE WAS NO POWER TO THE VEHICLE. I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO DIE!!! I JUST GOT AN 'INITIAL' RECALL NOTICE WHICH STATED THAT THERE STILL WAS NO REPAIR FOR THIS PROBLEM - EVEN THOUGH IT WAS SAID TO BE THE CAUSE OF POTENTIAL CRASHES AND STALLS MID-DRIVE. AS I HAVE A SMALL CHILD IN THE CAR WITH ME EVERY TIME I DRIVE, I AM EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS AND NERVOUS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THE RISK I AM TAKING BY CONTINUING TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE WITHOUT A REPAIR.
