THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V813000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) BUT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. VEHICLE DIED WHILE DRIVING 8/21/2020 ON HWY 68 AND AT HWY 74 AT 27265 NC WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH THROUGH A CONSTRUCTION ZONE. HAD IT TOWED OFF THE ROAD TO ME HOUSE THEN TOWED TO THE DEALER. COULD NOT GET IT OFF THE ROAD DUE TO CONSTRUCTION. HAD TO LEAVE IT IN THE ROAD UNTIL FLAT BED SHOWED UP. ENGINE BEGAN TO SHUTTER THEN STOPPED. WOULD NOT RE-START AT ALL. SOMETIMES WOULD START LIKE IT WAS ONLY RUNNING ON 1 OR 2 CYLINDERS BUT THEN WOULD NOT CUT OFF ALL OF THIS HAPPENED DURING 5 O"CLOCK TRAFFIC.FILLED A COMPLAINT EARLIER ON THIS VEHICLE ABOUT STARTING ISSUES EXACTLY LIKE THIS. THE RECALL ON THIS ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED BY JEEP BEEN WAY TO LONG FOR THEM TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. IT IS AT THE DEALER AND I ASSUME IT WILL COST ME A PRETTY PENNY BY THE TIME IT IS DONE. THEY SEEM TO ALWAYS FIND A WAY TO GENERATE A BILL EVEN ON A RECALL. I AM SO TIRED OF DEALING WITH JEEP. THIS OEM SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO LET THIS GO THIS LONG. I WORK FOR VOLVO ANOTHER OEM COMPANY AND WHEN WE HAVE A MQR (QUALITY ISSUE) IT IS THE TOP OF THE LIST TO BE RESOLVED AND DELIVERED TO THE CUSTOMER. I QUESS IT TAKES INURY OR LOSS OF LIFE AND A LAW SUIT TO GET IT TO HAPPEN.
2011 JEEP GC OVERLAND DIES WHILE ON A CURVE. POWER STEERING NOT OPERATING, ENGINE NOT RUNNING. WILL RESTART BUT HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN ONE WEEK. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE IN HIS DRIVEWAY FROM A SHORT DISTANCE, THERE WAS A ELECTRICAL BURNING ODOR COMING FROM THE VEHICLE ALONG WITH SMOKE. THE CONTACT THEN DISCOVERED THAT THE COOLANT OVERFLOWED TO THE ALTERNATOR WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER (VISION AUTOMOTIVE GROUP LOCATED AT 920 PANORAMA TRAIL S , ROCHESTER, NY 14625) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PCM FAILED CAUSING THE COOLANT TO OVERHEAT AND REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR, THE DRAIN TUBE AND THE BATTERY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS EXPLAINED THAT THE ENGINEERING OF THE DRAIN TUBE FOR THE COOLANT OVERFLOW TANK WAS DESIGNED TO BE DIRECTLY ABOVE THE ALTERNATOR AND IF THE COOLANT OVERFLOWS IT WOULD COME IN CONTACT WITH THE ELECTRIC ALTERNATOR CAUSING A POSSIBLE FIRE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT IF HE WOULD HAVE DROVE A LONG DISTANCE HIS VEHICLE WOULD HAVE ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE AND SUGGESTED THE CONTACT CALL NHTSA AND GET A SERVICE MANUAL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 127,000.

FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS I HAVE EXPERIENCED HARD STARTING. I BELIEVE THIS IS DUE TO THE RECALLED FUEL RELAY.THE RECALL IS FROM NOV 14,2019 MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBERV62 NHTSA RECALL NUMBER19V-813. LAST NIGHT THE VEHICLE JUST STOPPED AFTER STARTING IT WHILE SITTING AT A GAS STATION. IT APPEARS THAT THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORST. UP UNTIL NOW, THIS HAS ALWAYS BEEN A RELIABLE VEHICLE. VEHICLE HAS STALLED A NUMBER OF TIMES ALSO HAS FAILED TO START MANY MANY TIMES. VEHICLE HAS STALLED ON CITY ROAD BELOW 50 MPH HAD TO PULL OFF AND ATTEMPT TO RE-START. HAS STUMBLED ON HIGHWAY A NUMBER OF TIMES. HARD START SETTING STILL IS A COMMON ISSUE UNDER MANY CONDITIONS. THE SO CALLED FIRST RECALL PLACING AN EXTERNAL FUEL RELAY HAS BEEN DONE DID NOT FIX ANYTHING. THIS VEHICLE IS A HAZARD IN MANY WAYS. IF IT FAILS IN A BAD LOCATION IT COULD LEAD TO LOS OF LIFE OR INJURY. ALSO IF THE NEED TO START THE VEHICLE AT A MOMENTS NOTICE IS NEEDED, IT WOULD BE AN ISSUE IN MOST CASES. I FIND IT UNACCEPTABLE THAT JEEP HAS NOT REPAIRED THIS ISSUE. WILL IT TAKE LOSE OF LIFE OR INJURY TO FORCE THEM TO REPAIR THE ISSUE??? FCA RECORDS INDICATE THAT YOUR VEHICLE VIN # [XXX] WAS INCLUDED IN PREVIOUS SAFETY RECALL P54 (NHTSA14V-530) OR SAFETY RECALL R09 (NHTSA 15V-115). MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IS NOW EXPERIENCING THE ISSUES THAT ARE DISCUSSED IN THE SAFETY RECALL V62 FUEL PUMP RELAY FAILURE. SEEKING A SECOND OPINION, THE CONTACT WAS THEN ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO A NEARBY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO THEN DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WITH A DEFECTIVE ALTERNATOR. THE ALTERNATOR WAS REPAIRED BY THE MECHANIC. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 115,000. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ALSO DISCOVERED THAT HER VEHICLE HAD BEEN PLACED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER :19V813000(ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. STARTED HAVING A TRANSMISSION SLIP IN 2ND GEAR REPAIR SHOP LOOKED THINGS OVER AND SAID TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS A LITTLE LOW AND I WAS LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID DUE AC CONDENSER GOING BAD. HAD IT REPLACED, NO MORE LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID BUT TRANSMISSION STILL ACTING UP NOW. WAS TOLD IT WAS MOST LIKELY DUE TO THE LEAK AND TRANS FLUID GETTING LOW. AFTER READING UP I GUESS THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. OBVIOUSLY THESE A/C CONDENSER UNITS ARE FAULTY. NOW I HAVE A TRANSMISSION THAT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDABLE IF JEEP WOULD HAVE LET OWNERS KNOW ABOUT THE AC CONDENSER ISSUE OR MADE THAT A UNIT THAT HAS TO GET REPLACED AFTER SO MANY MILES.

I BOUGHT THIS CAR FROM LICCARDI CHRYSLER DODGE RAM IN GREEN BROOK, NJ IN FEBRUARY, 2020. IMMEDIATELY, THE CAR ENGINE STALLED, TURNING OFF POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKES, AND GAS. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO LICCARDI, THEY CLAIMED IT WAS THE OIL PAN LEAK AND I SPENT $2,000 ON REPAIRS. SINCE THEN, THE CAR HAS STALLED 4 TIMES, COMING TO A STOP. STILL, LICCARDI REFUSES TO ADMIT THE PROBLEM, SAYING THEY CAN NOT DUPLICATE IT AND THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF A RECALL OR A REMEDY FOR A RECALL. I AM OUT OF OPTIONS AND DESPERATELY NEED HELP. *TR

AT FIRST WE THOUGHT IT WAS THE KEY FOB SO WE TRIED TO GET A NEW FOB AND COME TO FIND OUT IT IS NOT THE FOB CAUSE IT DID THE SAME THING WITH A NEW FOB PROGRAMMED TO IT. ON 4/10/2020 I WAS IDLING IN GEAR IN A FAST FOOD DRIVE-THRU LANE. I COULD HEAR AND FEEL THE ENGINE START TO SPUTTER. I PUT THE CAR INTO PARK AND TRIED APPLYING GAS TO KEEP THE ENGINE AT A HIGHER REV. AFTER ABOUT A MINUTE THE ENGINE STOPPED. I TRIED MULTIPLE TIMES TO GET THE VEHICLE TO START BUT ALL IT DID WAS TO HAVE AN EXTENDED CRANK TIME WITHOUT IT STARTING. I WAS ABLE TO GET SOME HELP TO PUSH IT OUT OF THE WAY OF OTHER VEHICLES. AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES OF SITTING I WAS ABLE TO START IT AND DRIVE IT HOME. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE OCCURRENCES OF THIS ISSUE. THE LAST TIME WAS WHILE I WAS ENTERING AND TURNING IN A BUSY INTERSECTION. ANOTHER TIME WAS WHILE I WAS 25 MILES DOWN A DIRT ROAD. I INFORMED ASMA THAT MY JEEP HAS STALLED WITHOUT WARNING SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING- SEVERAL OF THE TIMES WERE WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS INFORMED BY ASMA THAT THERE IS NOT A PERMANENT FIX, HOWEVER BECAUSE I WAS EXPERIENCING ISSUES, I COULD TAKE IT TO MY DEALERSHIP FOR A TEMPORARY FIX. ON 1/22/20, I TOOK MY JEEP TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE TEMPORARY FUEL RELAY PART PLACED ON MY VEHICLE. WHILE AT THE DEALERSHIP I WAS WARNED THAT SINCE THE PART IS ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX, THEY COULD NOT ESTIMATE HOW LONG IT WOULD BE BEFORE I EXPERIENCED ISSUES AGAIN. ON SATURDAY, 2/1/20 WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN MY JEEP ONCE AGAIN STALLED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. OF NOTE, WHEN THE ENGINE STALLS WHILE DRIVING IT ALSO CAUSING THE POWER STEERING TO GO OUT. SO DURING THIS PARTICULAR INSTANCE ON 2/1/20 WHEN THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN, I WAS FORCED TO DRIVE UP OVER A CURB TO AVOID GETTING HIT DUE TO VEHICLE DECELERATION AND LOSS OF POWER STEERING. WHEN I ASKED IF I WOULD BE REIMBURSED BY JEEP AND/OR FCA, SHE STATED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO SUBMIT A CLAIM FOR POSSIBLE REIMBURSEMENT. TWICE IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS, MY VEHICLE EXPERIENCED AN UN-COMMANDED ENGINE SHUT. BOTH TIMES MY VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT OR ABOUT 50 MPH DECELERATING TO AN APPROACHING RED LIGHT. I WOULD RECEIVE A (FCW LIGHT INDICATION AND AUDIBLE WARNING, RPM WOULD READ ZERO, NO POWER STEERING, AND NO POWER ASSISTED BRAKES). I WOULD PUT MY CAR IN PARK ONCE I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP THEN RESTART MY VEHICLE AND ALL SYSTEMS WOULD READ NORMAL.
TWO RECENT EVENTS, WHEN BRAKING IN SLOW TRAFFIC THERE WAS SUDDEN ACCELERATION WITH FOOT ON BRAKE. EVEN WITH STRONGER AND FORCEFUL BRAKE PRESSURE THE JEEP WAS STILL MOVING AND WANTING TO KEEP GOING WITH ENGINE REVVING. HAD TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AND THEN ENGINE QUIT REVVING AND THINGS RETURNED TO NORMAL. I HAVE THIS JEEP 10 YEARS AND AM VERY FAMILIAR WITH IT. NEVER ANY WRECKS. NO MEDICAL PROBLEMS. THE FLOOR MAT WAS NOT INTERFERING WITH ANY PEDALS. THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOT AWARE OF ANY RECALLS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BUT THEY SERVICED THE THROTTLE-BODY AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT. THIS APPARENTLY WAS NOT THE PROBLEM AS THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION WHEN BRAKING OCCURRED A SECOND TIME. IN GOOGLING THIS PROBLEM A BLOG MENTIONED THIS COULD BE THE JEEP BRAKE-BOOSTER WHICH HAS BEEN RECALLED AND WAS REPLACED ON MY JEEP 2 YEARS AGO. GOOGLE BRINGS UP THIS SUDDEN ACCELERATION AS A COMMON SEARCH BUT NO CLEAR ANSWERS. I KNOW ABOUT THE TOYOTA ACCELERATION PROBLEM IN THE 1990'S, THAT THEY NEVER FOUND OR ADMITTED ANYTHING MECHANICAL AND ASSUMED IT WAS GRANNY USING TWO FEET. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY A MECHANICAL PROBLEM WITH MY 2011 JEEP. WILL TAKE TO DEALERSHIP BUT THEY ALREADY SAID THEY AREN'T AWARE OF THIS BEING A JEEP DEFECT. I REGISTERED THIS COMPLAINT WITH JEEP CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY SAID IF THE DEALERSHIP CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM TO CALL THEM BACK AND THEY WILL WORK WITH THE DEALERSHIP TO RESOLVE THIS. THEY WORRISOME THING IS THEY WILL DO SOMETHING FOR $1000 AND THEN I HAVE THIS BRAKE/ACCELERATION OCCUR A 3RD TIME AND IT CAUSES A CRASH!

THE DEALER FX CAPRARA CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM - WATERTOWN 18476 US-11, WATERTOWN, NY 13601 (315) 788-7400, WAS CONTACTED BY PHONE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO A RECALL. THE DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V813000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE DEALER IN TURN STATED THAT PARTS FOR THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND A CASE WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER THEN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE DEALER WOULD BE INFORMED OF THE PROCESS FOR ORDERING THE PART TO FACILITATE THE REPAIR. THE DEALER WAS THEN CONTACTED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO SUCH PROCESS FOR ORDERING RECALL REMEDY PARTS. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PURCHASE THE PART FROM A THIRD PARTY HOWEVER, THE DEALER DECLINED TO PERFORM THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE REMAINED AT THE DEALER WITH THE REPAIR STILL PENDING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 145,000.
