HAVING ISSUES STARTING THE VEHICLE WILL ATTEMPT TO START BUT WILL NOT TURN OVER AS IF THE FUEL PUMP OR RELAY IS NOT KICKING IN. VEHICLE WAS PARKED ATTEMPTED TO START HAS AN EXTENDED CRANK.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD GOING 45 THE ENGINE HAS CUT OUT AND WE HAVE LOST ALL POWER TO THE VEHICLE. WE NARROWLY AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT BY PULLING OVER AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS DONE THIS THREE TIMES AND IT DOESN'T SEEM TO BE DURING ANY SPECIFIC TIME, OR LENGTHY OF TRAVEL. IT HAS HAPPENED RANDOMLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE STEERING COULD SEIZE WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I PURCHASE MY 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH 5.7 LITER ENGINE IN JANUARY 2017. FOR NEARLY TWO YEARS IT WAS FINE BUT THEN IT STARTED STALLING. IT STALLED AT LEAST 15 TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR. IT USUALLY STALLS WHEN SLOWING DOWN FOR TRAFFIC OR A RED LIGHT BUT CAN ALSO STALL AFTER HAVING BEEN STOP FOR RED LIGHT, OR UPON ACCELERATION FROM A RED LIGHT~ ON RARE OCCASION IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING 40 TO 50 MILES PER HOUR. THERE IS NO INDICATION THE CAR HAS STALLED UNTIL YOU TRY TO ACCELERATE, STEER, OR BRAKE, AS THE AIR CONDITIONER AND RADIO REMAIN UNAFFECTED. I'VE TAKEN THE JEEP TO MY DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THEY FIRST THOUGHT IT WAS A FUEL PUMP SO THEY PUT A NEW FUEL PUMP IN. A FEW WEEKS AFTER INSTALLING A FUEL PUMP IT STALLED AGAIN SO I BROUGHT IT BACK AND THEY REINFORCE THE CONNECTION. A FEW WEEKS LATER IT STALLED AGAIN SO THEY HAD ME BRING THE CAR IN AND THEY ATTACHED A BLACK BOX TO IT THAT FUNCTIONS MUCH LIKE AN AIRPLANE'S BLACK BOX WHICH RECORDES DATA. I DROVE IT AROUND WITHOUT INCIDENT FOR ABOUT 5 WEEKS AND WE THOUGHT WE HAD THE PROBLEM SOLVED. OF COURSE 2 WEEKS LATER IT STALLED AGAIN SO I BROUGHT IT BACK. THEY REINSTALL THE BLACK BOX AND HAD THEIR WORK IS USED THE JEEP AS THEIR DAILY COMMUTE TRYING TO TRIP A CODE. IT TOOK A WHILE BUT ABOUT A MONTH LATER THEY FINALLY GOT A CODE FOR A WIRING ISSUE. FORTUNATELY, SINCE IT WASN'T COVERED IN MY EXTENDED WARRANTY, AND AT GREAT EXPENSE TO THEM, THEY REPLACED THE MAIN WIRING HARNESS. IT WORKED FOR ABOUT 6 WEEKS AND THEN STALLED AGAIN. THEY SAID THEY'VE DONE EVERYTHING THEY KNOW TO DO AND OFFERED TO GIVE ME A HIGH TRADE-IN VALUE FOR THE JEEP TO GET ME OUT OF THIS UNSAFE VEHICLE.
ENGINE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING, I WAS GETTING OFF THE HIGHWAY SLOWING DOWN FROM A HIGH RATE OF SPEED AND MY ENGINE JUST SHUT OFF. I D ID NOT EVEN KNOW THE ENGINE WAS OFF UNTIL I TRIED TO TURN AND HAD NO POWER STEERING OR BRAKES. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHTS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. ALL THE LIGHTS AND RADIO WAS STILL ON. I HAD TO PUT MY JEEP IN PARK THEN START IT AGAIN AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN ONE WEEK. I AM TERRIFIED WHILE DRIVING NOW THAT IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN.
I PURCHASED MY JEEP GR CHEROKEE SUMMIT OCT 23RD 2018 AND IT HAS HAD SUSPENSION PROBLEMS SINCE I GOT IT. IT MAKE A HORRIBLE GRINDING NOISE WHEN I EITHER TURN ON OR SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE AND IT LASTS FOR A FEW SECONDS. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND SERVICE SUSPENSION IMMEDIATELY FLASHED ON MY DASHBOARD AND WHILE DRIVING ON THE PARKWAY DOING 75 MILES AN HOURS MY CAR DECIDED TO START MAKING A HORRIBLE NOISE LIKE I WAS DRIVING ON THE WAKE UP STRIP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND MY LITTLE IDIOT LIGHT ON THE DASH WAS FLASHING THE LITTLE JEEP ICON AND IT WAS TRYING TO ADJUST THE HEIGHT AT THAT RATE OF SPEED. FOR AN OVER $60,000. DOLLAR TRUCK, I EXPECT MORE FROM IT THEN TO START TO FAIL AFTER PICKING IT UP FROM THE DEALER BRAND NEW. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY TOLD ME THAT SOME KIND OF TUBE FOR THE SUSPENSION WAS INCORRECTLY INSTALLED BACKWARDS, FIXED THE PROBLEM AND SENT ME ON MY MERRY WAY, ONLY TO HAVE THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPEN A FEW HOURS LATER. I AM BEYOND PISSED THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO MY TRUCK WITH LESS THAN THREE THOUSAND MILES ON IT. I COULDN'T SELL THIS TRUCK TO SOMEONE IN THE STATE THAT IT IS IN!!!! CHRYSLER/DODGE STEP UP AND FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM!!!!!!!!
VEHICLE STALLS WITHOUT WARNING. VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, SLOWING TO TURN. USUALLY ON A RIGHT TURN NEAR BEGINNING OF TURN. POWER ASSIST STEERING AND BRAKING DISABLED. HAS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 10-12 TIMES SINCE PURCHASED IN FEBRUARY 2019. REPORTED TO DEALERSHIP ON MARCH 5, 2019, AT WHICH TIME WE WERE TOLD IT WAS A PREVIOUS RECALL AND THEY WOULD ORDER PARTS TO REDO RECALL. INFORMED TODAY THAT A NEW RECALL WAS ISSUED, BUT NO SOLUTION IS READY. REPORTING FOR NHTSA RECORDS.*DT *TR
I WAS ADVISED DURING AN OIL CHANGE THAT POWER STEERING RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED DUE TO LEAKING FLUID. THE NHTSA DATABASE IS FILLED WITH SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS DEFECTIVE PART. WITH 10 RECALLS ALREADY ON THIS VEHICLE, PLEASE INVESTIGATE TO DETERMINE WHETHER A RECALL IS WARRANTED FOR THIS ISSUE AS WELL. THANK YOU.
ENGINE RECALL FOR TIPM
POWER STEERING LINE HAS A SLOW LEAK THAT SEEMS TO BE COMMON AMONG THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, DODGE DURANGO VEHICLES AROUND THE 2011- 2013 YEAR. VEHICLES SEEM TO BE EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE ANYWHERE FROM 40K TO 100K MILES. SOME PEOPLE HAVE HAD THESE LINES REPLACED AND HAVE STILL HAD A LEAK.
STARTING ISSUES, STARTS UP AND QUICKLY CUTS OFF. ALL LIGHTS AND POWER ARE ON. PLENTY OF FUEL IN TANK BUT NOT OVERFILLED. I THINK IT IS THE FUEL INJECTION AREA. I WORRY IT WILL JUST CUT OFF DUE TO THAT WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 3 TIMES IN THE PAST 3 WEEKS, IT IS BECOMING MORE FREQUENT.
CAR BEGAN TO SPUTTER AND RISE IN RPMS AND MISSING GEAR GOING INTO NUETRAL AND CAUSING DANGEROUS SITUATIONS IN TRAFFIC RUNS AT 2 RPMS IN IDEAL STANDPOINT NOW CAR IS LEAKING FLUIDS AND SERVICE 4WHEEL DRIVE LIGHTS ON I READ THAT THERE ARE RECALLS FOR THIS ISSUE IN OTHER KEEPS BUT NOT FOR MY VIN NUMBER AND THIS IS A MANUFACTURER PROBLEM
WHEN THE OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE GOES BELOW 20 DEGREES F , I GET A MESSAGE THAT THE AIR SUSPENSION NEEDS SERVICED. THE SUSPENSION BOTTOMS OUT. IT MAKES IT UNSAFE TO BE ON THE ROAD. WHEN THE OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE WARMS UP INTO THE UPPER 20 DEGREES IT STARTS WORKING AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW IN 2012.

THE CONTACT CALLED DAVE DENNIS CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (4232 COLONEL GLENN HWY, DAYTON, OH 45431, (937) 429-5566) WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
RED INDICATOR LIGHT LOOKING LIKE A BATTERY CAME ON ABOUT 3 MILES FROM DESTINATION. WITHIN ANOTHER MILE, OTHER WARNING LIGHTS BEGAN TO COME ON. WIPERS CAME ON (YES, THEY CAME ON, NOT OFF). THEN NAVIGATION SCREEN WENT BLANK. NEXT CAR LOST ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING. SUDDENLY LOST STEERING, BRAKES, ETC. EVEN EMERGENCY FLASHERS WOULD NOT ACTIVATE. SMELLED LIKE SOMETHING WAS BURNING. NEARBY REPAIR SHOP STATED THE ALTERNATOR HAD BURNED-UP AND KILLED THE BATTERY. REPAIR SHOP REPLACED ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY, BUT WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN WITH SMELL OF SOMETHING ONCE AGAIN BURNING WITHIN 2 MILES OF REPAIR SHOP. RETURNED VEHICLE TO REPAIR SHOP, BUT THEY ARE NOT CAPABLE OF FIXING SOME TYPE OF COMPUTER MODULE. THIS VEHICLE HAD A SAFETY RECALL (NUMBER T36). I RECEIVED AT LEAST 2 NOTICES FROM JEEP (FCA), BUT IN EACH CASE WAS TOLD PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE TO RESOLVE THIS SAFETY RECALL (ALTERNATOR DIODE THERMAL FATIGUE) [T36/NHTSA 17V-435]. I ALSO BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO JEFF WYLER JEEP CHRYSLER (SOUTHGATE, KY) WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND THEY SAID PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD NOTIFY ME WHEN PARTS BECOME AVAILABLE, BUT NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTIFICATION. NOW, THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING AS DESCRIBED ABOVE. HAD THIS HAPPENED AT NIGHT, ON THE HIGHWAY, SOMEONE COULD EASILY HAVE BEEN KILLED. IN SUMMARY, WHEN VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, WITHOUT POWER, IT WAS ON A CITY STREET, AND I WAS MAKING A TURN ONTO A SMALLER STREET WITH THE HOPE OF GETTING OUT OF TRAFFIC.
TAKATA RECALL WHILE I'M DRIVING THE VEHICLE IT WILL SHUT OFF. I WILL PUT IT IN PARK AND IT STARTS BACK UP. THIS IS UNSAFE BECAUSE I CAN BE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC OR BE IN AN INTERSECTION AND IT JUST SHUTS OFF. I'VE TAKEN IT TO HAVE A MECHANIC LOOK FOR ANY READINGS AND NOTHING IS COMING UP. IT ALSO SHUTS OFF WHILE TRYING TO START THE VEHICLE UP FOR THE FIRST TIME. IT TAKES SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, AGAIN NOTHING COMING UP WHEN TAKEN TO THE MECHANIC.THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR ALMOST A YEAR.
WE WERE DRIVING IN THE EXPRESS HIGHWAY PR 30, AT A SPEED OF 45 TO 50 MPH, IN THE DIRECTION OF HUMACAO TOWARDS CAGUAS, WE HEARD A LOUD NOISE AT THE BACK PART OF THE VEHICLE (SOUND IT AS AN IMPACT). THE VEHICLE STARTED MAKING A LOUD NOISE. WE WERE ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE AND PARK IN THE AREA OF STOPS FOR EMERGENCIES. WHEN WE INSPECT THE VEHICLE WE NOTICED THAT ALL THE REAR SUSPENSION WAS ON THE DIFFERENTIAL AND THE ESCAPE (MUFFLE). THE TWO STRUCTURAL SUPPORTS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE REAR SUSPENSION WERE BROKEN. WE CALLED A CRANE AND WHEN WE GOT TO THE FLAT BED WE COULD SEE THAT THE CHASSIS HAD SPLIT ON BOTH SIDES OF THE VEHICLE. THE STRUCTURAL BASIS OF THE CROSSMEMBER IN THE CHASSIS WERE BROKEN. THE FORCE WAS SO GREAT THAT THE CROSSMEMBER BROKE THE DIFFERENTIAL AND THE MUFFLER. ONCE WE GET OFF THE CRANE, WE SEE THE DAMAGE, THE STRUCTURAL 2 BASE IN THE CHASSIS ARE BROKEN AND THE CROSSMEMBER IS OVER THE DIFFERENTIAL AND MUFFLER. THE 2 BASE FOR THE CROSSMEMBER, ON THE CHASSIS, COLLAPSE AND THE CROSSMEMBER BROKE THE DIFFERENTIAL AND THE MUFFLER. THE CROSSMEMBER BUSHING IN THE BACK IS BLEND TOO.
TAKATA RECALL THE AIRBAG DOES NOT WORK GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT AND AIRBAG DID NOT POP OUT. THE LIGHT FOR THE AIRBAG COMES ON AND OFF.
GRAND CHEROKEE RECALL JEEP FAILED TO MAKE US AWARE OF AN ALTERNATOR RECALL. MY HUSBAND BROKE DOWN ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD (NEARLY KILLED MIND YOU.) WE HAD OUR CAR TOWED TO OUR MECHANIC. MECHANIC FIXED THE VEHICLE, AND MENTIONED TO US THAT THE PART HAD ACTUALLY BEEN RECALLED, AGAIN THIS WAS THE FIRST THAT WE WERE MADE AWARE OF THIS. WE CONTACTED JEEP AND PUT IN A CLAIM. JEEP, FIVE MONTHS LATER, TOLD US THAT WE ARE ONLY ELIGIBLE FOR HALF OF WHAT WE SPENT ON THE REPAIR, BECAUSE OUR MECHANIC WAS ONLY 1.6 MILES AWAY FROM A JEEP DEALER. WHY WOULD I GO TO A JEEP DEALER TO PAY A PREMIUM NOT KNOWING THE ISSUE WAS ACTUALLY BECAUSE JEEPS NEGLECT TO INFORM US OF THE RECALL? HALF THE REIMBURSEMENT, DOES NOT EVEN COVER THE COST FOR THE TOW.
CAR'S TIPM HAS BEEN MESSING UP. THEY SAY THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL ON MY MODEL FOR THAT AND ANOTHER SAYS IT HAS BEEN FIXED. MY CAR WON'T START AT TIMES, MY HORN HONKS AT RANDOM TIMES AND JUST TODAY MY CAR STALLED WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE. I KNOW THE TIPM HAD BEEN A PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES BUT I CANT GET ANY HELP WITH MINE WITHOUT PAYING OUT OF POCKET. I'VE ABOUT HAD IT WITH MY JEEP.
THE RACK AND PINION STEERING IS LEAKING AT 75,000 MILES. AFTER BEING QOUTED 2600 DOLLARS FOR THE FIX, I DID RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT MOST OTHER JEEP OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM IN LOW MILEAGE JEEPS ALSO. CONTACTED JEEP WITH NO RESPONSE. THE ISSUE HAS BEEN NOTED TO CAUSE THE JEEPS TO BECOME UNRESPONSIVE AND DANGEROUS AS STEERING BECOMES USELESS.
VEHICLE LOSES ALL POWER WHEN SLOWING DOWN OR STOPPED. LOSE ABILITY TO STEER. HAVE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE.
VEHICLE HAS SAID SERVICE AIR SUSPENSION NUMEROUS TIMES. TOOK TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND THE MECHANIC CANT FIND ANYTHING WRONG OR REPLICATE THE ISSUE. NOW CAR IS STUCK WITH THE FRONT SUSPENSION ALL THE WAY AT THE BOTTOM AND THE BACK IS STUCK IN A HIGHER POSITION. HEAR AIR COMPRESSIONS IN THE BACK OF THE CAR, AIR SUSPENSION IS TRYING TO ACTIVATE BUT WONT MOVE. IS ABLE TO DRIVE AT VARIOUS SPEED. ATTEMPTED TO RAISE AND LOWER AT PARK, NEUTRAL AND MOVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS FROM 5-60MPH. WAS WARNED TO NOT DRIVE UNLESS NEEDED TO BECAUSE VEHICLE COULD LOSE CONTROL EASILY. *CAR IS UP TO DATE ON RECALLS AND SERVICE REPORTS. SEEMS LIKE A BIG SAFETY ISSUE
The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V813000 (Electrical System). The contact took the vehicle to local dealer and had the recall repair completed. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that after the repair, the vehicle would intermittently fail to start. The contact stated that the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to start the vehicle on the second attempt. The contact took the vehicle back to the local dealer however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated he continued to experience the failure. The contact took the vehicle back to local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the fuel pump to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 72,500.
ALTERNATOR FAILED DUE TO RECALL. I WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THIS UNTIL AFTER HAVING FAILED AND NEEDING TO BE TOWED AFTER BEING STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. ALL THE CARS FUNCTIONS HAD COMPLETELY FAILED. THE CAR WAS UNABLE TO BE MOVED TO A SAFE PLACE, DOORS WERE LOCKED, LEAVING MY DOGS LOCKED AND GATED INTO THE CARGO AREA UNTIL LOWING ASSISTANCE ARRIVED. SINCE THE ALTERNATOR WAS FIXED I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE VISITS TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPLACEMENT OF BATTERY, JEEP FAILING TWO MORE TIMES WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, NEEDING ADDITIONAL TOWING ASSISTANCE. MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTIONS CONTINUE TO OCCUR, INCLUDING: FORWARD COLLISION WARNING, "BRAKE WARNING FLASHING FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE PASSENGER SIDE HEAT FAILED NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. ALL OF THE SEAT HEATERS WITHIN THE VEHICLE HAVE FAILED NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. MOST RECENTLY THE DRIVERS SEAT MOVE FORWARD FUNCTION HAS STOPPED WORKING, MAKE THE VEHICLE DIFFICULT AND UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS IT IS NOT AT THE APPROPRIATE DRIVE DISTANCE. CONTACT TO DEALER TO DISCUSS FIXING ISSUES AS THEY ARE ELECTRICAL AND MOST LIKELY DUE TO RECALL OF THE ALTERNATOR. JEEP DEALER DECLINED THAT IT WAS A RELATED ISSUE AND THAT JEEPS ARE KNOWN FOR THESE ISSUES. CAR IS FELT TO BE UNRELIABLE AND UNSAFE TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE AT THIS POINT WITH THE UNKNOWN REASONS AND CAUSES FOR THE RECURRENT MALFUNCTIONS.
YESTERDAY MY JEEP ENGINE TURNED OFF TWICE WHILE DRIVING ON CITY ROADS. THIS HAPPENED IN THE MORNING ON MY WAY TO WORK AND AT NIGHT ON MY WAY HOME FROM DINNER. LUCKILY THIS HAPPENED ON CITY ROADS EITHER BEFORE GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY OR AFTER GETTING OFF THE HIGHWAY, AS I TAKE THE HIGHWAY DAILY FOR WORK. CONINCIDENTSLLY BOTH INSTANCES HAPPENED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO TURN RIGHT. I DID NOT HEAR THE ENGINE TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING, BUT NOTICED BECAUSE AS I WAS ATTEMPTING TO TURN THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING. THE RADIO, DASH AND INTERIOR LIGHTS NEVER FLICKERED OR TURNED OFF WHEN THE INGINE STALLED. AGAIN, LUCKILY I WAS NOT AT A HIGH SPEED WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND PUT ON MY HAZARDS AND WAS ABLE TO SLOWLY COME TO A STOP WITH THE BRAKES BUT THEY WERE VERY SLOW TO REACT. I PUT THE CAR BACK IN PARK AND STARTED IT RIGHT UP BOTH TIMES. VERY SCARY EXPERIENCE TO HAVE THE ENGINE JUST SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC AND PANIC TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT FROM OCCURRING.
HAD TO HAVE ALTERNATOR AND BATTER REPLACED AT 54,000 MILES. TWO WEEKS AFTER COMPLETING THIS REPAIR, THE BATTER LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING. AFTER TURNING OFF ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS, WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO REPAIR SHOP. UPON INSPECTION BY THE MECHANIC, THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE WAS NO LONGER WORKING. THE MECHANIC HAD TO REPLACE THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE. IN ADDITION, 3 DAYS LATER, THE ALTERNATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED AGAIN DUE TO THE FAILURE OF THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE.
WHILE DRIVING LOCALLY ON A CITY STREET, HEARD A LOW WHINING SOUND, FOLLOWED BY THE DASHBOARD BATTERY WARNING LIGHT BEING ILLUMINATED. SOUND INCREASED AND DECREASED WITH VEHICLE SPEED. DROVE IMMEDIATELY HOME, LESS THAN A MILE, PARKED THE VEHICLE, OPENED THE HOOD AND ISOLATED THE LOCATION OF THE WHINING SOUND TO THE ALTERNATOR AREA. AT THIS TIME I COULD ALSO SMELL A BURNING ODOR (BEING AN ELECTRICIAN).I PUT A METER TO THE BATTERY TERMINALS AND RECORDED A VOLTAGE OF 11.5,INDICATING THAT THE ALTERNATOR HAD FAILED. THERE WERE NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF SMOKE THAT I COULD SEE AS THE TIME WAS ABOUT 9PM. BUT THE SMELL OF AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE WAS CLEARLY PRESENT.
JEEP WAS HAVING BRAKE PROBLEMS. REPLACED ALL THE BRAKES THIS SPRING AND STILL HAVING A PROBLEM. TOOK THE JEEP IN TO THE DEALER IN JUNE TO HAVE THE BRAKE BOOSTER LOOKED AT, SAID IT WAS FINE. SINCE THEN THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN GETTING WORSE. TODAY I CRASHED INTO THE FRONT OF MY HOUSE. THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKE BOOSTER, LIKE I TOLD JEEP BACK IN JUNE. THIS SAME THING IS HAPPENING ON MANY OTHER JEEPS. PLEASE SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE. UNKNOWN CAUSE OF OVERHEATING. AUTHORIZED SERVICE PERFORMED BY DEALER. UPON INITIAL DIAGNOSIS OF VEHICLE NO CODE WAS PUT OUT WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY IN ACTIVE OVERHEAT MODE. MULTIPLE INVESTIGATIONS PERFORMED BY SERVICE TECHS WERE PERFORMED.
SAFETY RECALL WAS DONE INCORRECTLY, LEADING TO BRAKES FREEZING UP. DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE PAPERWORK SHOWING THAT THE RECALL HAD BEEN DONE ACCURATELY. ACCORDING TO RECALL T59/NHTSA 17V-572 A VACUUM TEST SHOULD HAVE BEEN COMPLETED. IF THE BOOSTER DID NOT PASS TESTING, THE BRAKE BOOSTER SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED. THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS NOT REPLACED, ALLOWING MOISTURE TO ENTER AND FREEZING UP. IMAGES OF THE CORRECT INSTALLATION SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN IN ORDER TO BE SUBMITTED FOR THE RECALL. THE JEEP WAS IN A SHOPPING PLAZA, MOVING FROM PARKING LOT TO ANOTHER WHEN THE BRAKES FROZE UP. ENGINE STALLS WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT WARNING. THIS STARTED IN NOVEMBER 2018 AND HAS HAPPENED 5 TIMES SINCE. HAVE TAKEN IT TO 3 DIFFERENT REPAIR SHOPS AND STILL NO RESOLUTION. THERE WAS A RECALL BACK IN 2015 #15V-115 TO FIX THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WHICH COULD CAUSE THIS TO HAPPEN. SERVICE WAS DONE PER THE RECALL. HAVE AN ACTIVE CASE WITH JEEP (FIAT) BUT THEY HAVE BEEN NO HELP AND KEEP SENDING US THE JEEP DEALER. DIAGNOSTICS HAVE BEEN DONE 3 TIMES TO NO AVAIL. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE AS THE VEHICLE DIES WHILE DRIVING AND THE STEERING LOCKS UP AS WELL AS THE BRAKES. EACH TIME THIS HAPPENS THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION GOING ABOUT 40MPH. HAS HAPPENED WHILE GOING STRAIGHT AND WHILE TURNING. THE RADIO STAYS ON AND NO WARNING LIGHTS APPEAR ON THE DASHBOARD.

OUR 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND HAS STARTED CUTTING OFF WHILE IN DRIVE, WITHOUT WARNING. THERE ARE NO INDICATOR LIGHTS ON AND THE RADIO CONTINUES TO PLAY AS NORMAL. THE ONLY WAY YOU KNOW THE VEHICLE IS OFF IS BY LOOKING AT THE RPM DISPLAY NOW AT ZERO OR BECAUSE YOU CAN NO LONGER USE THE POWER STEERING. I'VE NOTICED LATELY THAT WHILE MAKING TURNS IN MY OVERLAND SUMMIT WITH A 5.7L HEMI, THAT THE JEEP WILL STALL OUT AND DIE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MANEUVER. THIS ONLY HAPPENS WHEN MAKING TURNS. The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact that while starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal clicking sound coming from the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle lost power and would not immediately restart. The vehicle restarted after waiting for a while. No warning light was illuminated. The local dealer was contacted but was unable to schedule the recall repair due to the parts not being available. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. WHEN SLOWING THE VEHICLE IT WILL JUST SILENTLY SHUTS OFF. THIS HAPPENS USUALLY AT THE SAME 5 PLACES, 3 OF THEM WHEN SLOWING TO MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN IN AN S TURN AND THE OTHER 2 GOING STRAIGHT SLOWING TO STOP TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ACROSS TRAFFIC. I FEEL LIKE IT'S A COMBINATION OF BRAKING, STEERING WHEEL AND WHEN ITS SHIFTING INTO 1ST SINCE I'M EITHER IN A STOPPING SITUATION OR S TURN SITUATION. WHEN THIS HAPPENS I LOOSE STEERING AND BRAKES CAUSING ME TO GO INTO THE OPPOSITE LANE OF TRAVEL HEAD ON. THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS ON THE ALTERNATOR FOR MY VEHICLE BUT MINE HAS NEVER BEEN INCLUDED. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR A SENSOR THAT HAS BEEN COMPLETED BUT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE, MY CHANCE FOR A HEAD ON COLLISION IS VERY VERY SCARY. DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED NO OPEN RECALLS FOR JEEP, HOWEVER CONFIRMED THAT FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS REPLACED UNDER RECALL PRIOR TO VEHICLE PURCHASE. READING OTHER RECALLS ON NHTSA I SEE THERE WAS A LARGE RECALL, WITH SAME SYMPTOMS, FOR THIS MAKE AND MODEL OF VEHICLE FOR EXTERNAL RELAY FROM TIPM TO FUEL PUMP. DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THIS RECALL DOES NOT SHOW FOR MY VIN AND CANNOT FIX VEHICLE WITH RECALLED PART EVEN IF I PAY FOR IT. THEY ADVISED I REPLACE TIPM AND FUEL PUMP AND MAYBE IT WILL WORK. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT PROVIDED.
4 TIMES IN THE LAST 3 WEEKS, THE LAST TIME JUST TODAY, AS I WAS DECELERATING AND TURNING RIGHT WHILE GETTING OFF HIGHWAYS ONTO EXIT RAMPS, THE STEERING WHEEL FELT LIKE IT LOCKED - THE POWER STEERING TURNED OFF, AS DID THE POWER BRAKES - I HAD TO COAST, AND THE RPMS SHOWED 0, ALTHOUGH ALL THE LIGHTS WERE STILL ON. I WAS FORCED TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK - WHILE STILL ON THE EXIT RAMP - TURN OFF THE CAR AND TURN IT ON AGAIN TO GET IT TO DRIVE NORMALLY. WHICH IT DID, AS IF NOTHING HAD HAPPENED. BUT IT'S UNNERVING AND CERTAINLY UNSAFE, AND A QUICK SEARCH ON THE INTERNET REVEALS IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN QUITE FREQUENTLY TO OTHER JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2012 DRIVERS.
RACK AND PINION STERLING DEFECT NEED TO BE REPLACED 12500 MILES ONLY ON CAR
I've tried 6 times in 3 years to get my recall done since I learnt of my fuel relay . Now according to my mechanic my catalytic converter is messed up due to waiting on the recall. The first 3 times was back ordered, the 4th time I went to my appointment and was told there computers were messed up just needed to see the car to still be on recall list. 5 and 6th time they never got part in. This recall is messing up my car. My check engine light will not go off due to the converter due to the fuel relay. If my check engine light is on I can't remote start it in cold weather . When will I be able to actually get my recall done before it messes up more of my car.

THE TRUCK CONTINUES TO STALL WHILE OPERATING AND DOES NOT TURN OVER WHEN TRYING TO RESTART. THIS PREVENTS A QUICK REACTION TO BEING STALLED WHEN SLOWING TO ENTER OR EXIT AT AN INTERSECTION. ON MOST OCCASIONS, THE CAR WILL NOT START AND CONTINUES TO CRANK WHEN EITHER USING THE PUSH START, MANUAL KEY FOB, OR AUTO START. IT CANNOT BE MOVED ONCE STALLED. IF YOU ATTEMPT TO RESTART TOO QUICKLY OR AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, IT WILL FLOOD. THIS SAME ISSUE WAS INCLUDED IN A PREVIOUS RECALL FOR THE FUEL PUMP RELAY. HOWEVER, IT DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THE SAME BEHAVIOR IS EXPERIENCED AND IS VERY DANGEROUS. TO PROVIDE HISTORY OF FAILED RECALLS, THE BRAKE SHIELD RECALL WAS CORRECTED BY TWO SEPERATE RECALLS AND WAS ALSO A VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT PREVENTS DRIVER CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE WHEN STOPPING. THE STALLING OCCURS WHEN COMING TO A STOP OR STOPPING, AND WHEN PERFORMING STRONG TURNS. THESE TYPES OF TURNS ARE DONE FREQUENTLY AT INTERSECTIONS WITH ON COMING TRAFFIC. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE THE ABILITY TO RESTART THE VEHICLE TO ESCAPE THE DANGER.
