THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW FELL OUT OF THE TRACK; I TRIED ROLLING THE WINDOW UP BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE WINDOW REGULATOR HAS BROKEN. APPARENTLY, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH OLDER JEEP LIBERTY MODELS AND FROM WHAT I HAVE READ, THE REGULATOR IS MADE OF PLASTIC INSTEAD OF METAL AND THE PART IS MADE TO BREAK OFTEN. I AM TIRED OF FIXING THE PROBLEM AGAIN AND AGAIN!

IN MARCH I TRIED TO ROLL UP MY FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW AND IT MADE AN AWFUL SOUND AND THEN DROPPED ALL THE WAY DOWN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE CABLE BROKE AND IT COST ME $300! A MONTH LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED WITH MY BACK DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW AND ANOTHER $300! LAST NIGHT I WAS PULLING INTO MY GARAGE AND WENT TO ROLL UP THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW AND WOULDN'T YOU KNOW...THE SAME THING HAPPENED! 3 WINDOWS IN 6 MONTHS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! JANUARY 8, 2013 GOOD MORNING. IT WAS VERY ANNOYING WHEN MY PASSENGER'S FRONT WINDOW DROPPED INSIDE THE DOOR. IT WAS AND WASN'T OKAY WHEN THE PROBLEM FIRST AROSE. I WAS VERY CONCERNED. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO MY DAD TO SEE WHAT HE KNEW ABOUT IT OR COULD DO. HE WENT TO THE PICK AND PULL JUNKYARD AND GOT A PLASTIC REPLACEMENT WINDOW TO HOLD ME OVER UNTIL I COULD GET IF FIXED, WHICH I DID ABOUT 3 WEEKS AFTER THE PROBLEM OCCURRED. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED ON JANUARY 8, 2013 AND I GOT IT FIXED ON JANUARY 29TH, ONLY FOR THE OPPOSITE FRONT DRIVERS WINDOW TO DO THE EXACT SAME THING TWO DAYS AFTER I GOT IT OUT THE SHOP. WELL THIS TIME, MY DAD PLACED A 2 BY 4 TO HOLD IT IN PLACE. AND NOW ONLY ABOUT 2 MONTHS LATER MARCH 28, 2013 MY BACK PASSENGER WINDOW HAS SUFFERED THE SAME FAITH. BACK ON FEBRUARY 5, 2013 I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE CHRYSLER DEALER BECAUSE THEY CONTACTED ME ABOUT A RECALL, AND AT THIS TIME I EXPLAINED MY INCIDENT TO THEM; THEY STATED THEY HAD MAYBE A FEW CONCERNS ABOUT THE WINDOW REGULATOR, BUT THAT IT WASN'T ENOUGH TO RAISE AN EYEBROW ABOUT. I UNDERSTAND WHY THAT WOULD NOT BE AN EYEBROW RAISER. IN LESS THAN 3 MONTHS, I HAVE HAD 3 OF MY CAR WINDOW TO JUST DROP INSIDE THE DOOR OF MY VEHICLE AND THE DEALER DOESN'T THINK THAT THIS IS CALL FOR A RECALL, OR SEND OUT NOTICES TO JEEP DEALER AND WORK ON THE RESPONSES RECEIVED TO THEN DETERMINE IF THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE OR NOT? A WEEK LATER THAT I WAS DRIVING, AND STARTED TO HEAR AIR AROUND ME, AND NOTICED MY FRONT DRIVERS WINDOW WAS SLOWING DROPPING INTO THE DOOR. I HAD THAT FIXED AND A FEW MONTHS LATER IT DROPPED AGAIN. I HAD IT FIXED BY MEANS OF HAVING A 2 BY 4 PLACED UNDER THE WINDOW BECAUSE I COULD NOT AFFORD A SHOP. JOINING IN THE LARGE NUMBERS OF JEEP LIBERTY OWNERS, I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE JANUARY 2012 WITH APPROX. 86000 MILES. THE DRIVER'S SIDE PASSENGER WINDOW WAS ALREADY INOPERABLE DURING NEGOTIATIONS AND DEALER REPAIRED. WITHIN MONTHS, THE DRIVER'S WINDOW FAILED WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, WHICH HAS BEEN A THORN IN THE SIDE OF MANY WHO OWN(ED) THIS MODEL - WEAK PLASTIC PART INVOLVED IN THE WINDOW MOTOR, CAUSING THE GLASS TO FALL INTO THE DOOR AND DIFFICULT, COSTLY REPAIRS. CHRYSLER HAS NOT BEEN MADE TO HELP THE CONSUMER IN THE HISTORY OF THIS WIDE-SPREAD ISSUE. PLEASE CONSIDER ACTION? THE COST TO REPAIR EACH WINDOW IS NOT INEXPENSIVE. *TR

REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW SLIPPED DOWN INSIDE THE DOOR. UNABLE TO SECURE THE VEHICLE. ON 07/01/2012 FRONT DRIVER SIDE WINDOW SLIPPED DOWN INSIDE THE DOOR. AGAIN, VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND UNSECURED. THESE PARTS ARE EXPENSIVE IN ADDITION TO THE LABOR COST TO HAVE THE REPAIRS MADE. INABILITY TO SECURE THE VEHICLE IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND WEATHER CONDITIONS COULD CAUSE ADDITIONAL DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. ON 01/02/12 MY PASSENGER FRONT WINDOW FELL DOWN AND WOULD NOT ROLL BACK UP. NOW, SINCE THAT TIME, ON 03/16/12 MY DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW HAS FELL DOWN TOO AND WILL NOT ROLL UP. WITHIN, TWO MONTHS BOTH OF MY WINDOWS HAVE FAILED. THERE IS SOME KIND OF MALFUNCTION GOING ON HERE. DOES THIS MEAN IN FOUR MORE MONTHS, THAT ALL OF MY WINDOWS WILL FAIL? IN DECEMBER, 2011, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW OF MY JEEP LIBERTY FELL SUDDENLY WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE SUDDEN AND UNEXPECTED OCCURRENCE NEARLY CAUSED ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR. I FELT FORTUNATE THAT I WAS DRIVING WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND NOT ONE OF MY CHILDREN. HAD I BEEN AN INEXPERIENCED DRIVER, THE SUDDEN SHOCK OF THIS OCCURRENCE WOULD HAVE CAUSED ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR. I TAPED THE WINDOW UP AND CONTINUED TO DRIVE IT. TWO WEEKS LATER, THE REAR WINDOW ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUDDENLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY FELL. AT THAT TIME, MY DOG NEARLY FELL OUT OF THE CAR. IN THE SPRING OF 2012, AFTER DRIVING AROUND WITH TAPED UP WINDOWS FOR FOUR MONTHS, I TOOK THE CAR TO A JEEP DEALER. THE REPAIR COST ME $850.00. THIS PAST SPRING, THE SAME THING HAPPENED WITH THE WINDOW ON THE RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING WITH DOOR STOPPERS SHOVED INTO THE WINDOW TO HOLD IT UP. HOPE I DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT A GRANDCHILD FALLING OUT! I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET AND THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS VERY ISSUE! THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE A CHEAP PLASTIC PART IN THE WINDOW MECHANISM. MANY JEEP LIBERTY OWNERS ARE SAYING IT IS NOT WORTH FIXING THEIR WINDOWS ANYMORE, BECAUSE THEY FIX THEM AND THEN THE WINDOWS JUST FALL AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN. JEEP WINDOW REGULATORS ARE DEFECTIVE. THE DRIVER'S WINDOW MADE A LOUD NOISE AND FELL INTO THE DOOR. ESTIMATED REPAIR AT THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP WAS $300 - $400 FOR A SMALL PLASTIC PIECE. WITHIN SIX MONTHS, THE REMAINING THREE WINDOWS REGULATORS HAVE FAILED AND ALL WINDOWS ARE NOW HELD IN PLACE WITH A PLASTIC ZIP TIE DUE TO THE HIGH COST OF REPAIR/REPLACEMENT AND CHRYSLER'S REFUSAL TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR FAULTY DESIGN OR BELOW STANDARD EQUIPMENT. BEING UNABLE TO OPEN THE VEHICLE'S WINDOWS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY HAZARD FOR SEVERAL REASONS. CERTAINLY DO NOT WANT TO BE PULLED OVER AND NOT COMPLY WITH AN OFFICER'S REQUEST TO ROLL THE WINDOW DOWN - AND IF YOU OPEN THE DOOR INSTEAD OF ROLLING THE WINDOW DOWN - THAT WILL BE PERCEIVED AS A THREAT TO THE OFFICER AND ONLY LEAD TO A BAD SITUATION. THERE ARE SO MANY JEEP OWNERS WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT, PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS MATTER FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL DRIVERS SINCE CHRYSLER IS IGNORING THEIR RESPONSIBILITY. *TR
