2006 JEEP LIBERTY SPORT FUEL OVERFLOWS OUT OF FUEL FILLER TUBE WHEN FILLING GAS TANK NO MATTER HOW SLOWLY THE TANK IS FILLED. *TR
THE WINDOW REGULATOR ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW SUDDENLY BROKE WHILE DRIVING AS I WAS ROLLING UP THE WINDOW, CAUSING THE WINDOW TO CRACK WHILE HALFWAY DOWN. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. LAST TIME IT WAS ON A LEFT, REAR WINDOW. I BROUGHT IT TO TYSON'S JEEP IN VIRGINIA AND THEY SAID IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM BUT NOT PART OF A RECALL. THEY REPLACED THE REGULATOR AND THE GLASS, COSTING ME APPROXIMATELY $500. THE PARTS WERE AVAILABLE, BUT ARE OF THE SAME DESIGN, SO THE PROBLEM COULD REOCCUR AT ANY TIME. *TR
ALL WINDOWS FALLING OUT OF JEEP LIBERTY 2006>2007 DUE TO CHEAP PLASTIC CONNECTOR. ALL WINDOWS AND REGULATORS HAVE TO BE REPLACED. JEEP HAS PUBLISHED A BULLETIN TO THEIR DEALERS ABOUT THE PROBLEM BUT THERE IS NO RECALL. COST APPROX $2,000 PER VEHICLE IN PARTS AND LABOR. YOU CAN REALLY SEE THE SCOPE OF THIS PROBLEM ON EDMUNDS.COM JEEP LIBERTY WINDOW PROBLEMS. I PERSONALLY KNOW AND COMMUNICATE WITH 60 PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD ALL THEIR WINDOWS FALL OUT, SOME TWO >>THREE TIMES.*TR
WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK, THE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM FAILS TO STOP DELIVERING FUEL AFTER TANK IS FULL; THUS RESULTING IN FUEL OVERFLOWING THE TANK AND ONTO THE CAR EXTERIOR, GROUND, ETC. THIS OCCURS REGARDLESS OF THE SPEED AT WHICH THE FUEL IS DELIVERED INTO THE TANK. THIS HAS OCCURRED THROUGHOUT OUR OWNERSHIP OF THIS JEEP, AND THE INCIDENT DATE REPRESENT THE APPROX. DATE OF PURCHASE. THIS SAME ISSUE WAS OCCURRING IN THE 2008 JEEP WRANGLERS (OF WHICH I OWN ONE) AND WAS SUBJECT TO A RECALL. UPON THE RECALL REPAIR (NEW TANK, ETC), THE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED. PRIOR TO THE 2006 JEEP LIBERTY, WE OWNED A 2003 JEEP LIBERTY, WHICH DID NOT HAVE THAT ISSUE. *TR
THE LEFT REAR WNIDOW FALLS DOWN AT ANYTIME. MY CHILDREN COULD FALL OUT THE WINDOW. *TR
THIS IS THE 2ND WINDOW TO FALL INTO THE DOOR CAVITY. PASSENGER FRONT AND DRIVERS REAR. FIRST REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY, SECOND I HAD TO PAY THE DEDUCTIBLE ON AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THIS LAST TIME THE TEMP. WAS 10 DEGREES OUTSIDE. HOPING OTHERS DON'T FALL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. *TR
I OWN A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. PROBLEM WITH THE REGULATORS ON THE WINDOWS. THEY ARE DEFECTIVE AND CHRYSLER JEEP NEEDS TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. WINDOWS FALL DOWN AND THEN THE REGULATOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE FIRST TWO (ONE HAPPENED IN MARCH 2009, THE OTHER WINDOW IN MAY 2009) WERE COVERED BY WARRANTY. THE THIRD CAME DOWN NOVEMBER 09 AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. CHRYSLER IS INDICATING I'M GOING TO HAVE TO PAY A "CO-PAY" IF THEY'RE GOING TO COVER ANY COST OF THE REPAIR. CHRYSLER KNOWS THIS IS A DEFECT, I HAVE RESEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND SEVERAL INSTANCES OF THE SAME TYPES OF PROBLEMS OCCURRING. CHRYSLER INDICATED TO ME SINCE A "MANUFACTURE PRODUCT RECALL" HAS NOT OCCURRED, THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PROBLEM. WHAT A LOAD OF XX!!! *TR
THE WINDOW REGULATORS ON THE JEEP LIBERTY KEEP GOING OUT. CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO HAVE THE WINDOW DOWN TILL FIXED MAKING IT EASY TO BE STOLEN, OR DAMAGED BY THE WEATHER. SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IN 2006 THIS HAS OCCURRED 4 TIMES, I HAVE READ THAT IS COMMON WITH THE JEEP LIBERTY AND SOME PEOPLE HAVE REPLACED THEM 8 TIMES. MY HUSBAND HAS REPLACED THE PART PURCHASED FROM THE DEALER AT $75.00, BUT NOW HE WAS TOLD THAT NOT ONLY IS THE REGULATOR TO BE PURCHASED BUT A NEW WINDOW ALSO. *TR
REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW FELL DOWN INTO DOOR WHILE DRIVING. THIS OCCURRED WHEN I USED THE POWER WINDOW SWITCH TO LOWER WINDOW SLIGHTLY. 5 YEAR OLD NEPHEW IN REAR SEAT SATURATED BY RAIN. UNABLE TO PULL OVER RIGHT AWAY DUE SINCE I WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 80. THIS IS THE 5TH TIME A WINDOW REGULATOR IS THIS VEHICLE, 2006 JEEP LIBERTY, HAS FAILED IN THE PAST 3 YEARS. *TR

KEY STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND UNABLE TO REMOVE. HAD TO REMOVE GEAR SHIFT CONSOLE AND PUSH IN A METAL PIECE SO THAT CAR COMPUTER WOULD REGISTER THAT THE CAR WAS IN PARK. *TR
ROLLED THE PASSENGER WINDOW DOWN AND IT JUST FELL DOWN. NOW ALL I HEAR WHEN I TRY TO ROLL THE WINDOW UP IS A GRINDING NOISE. FOUND OUT THAT IT IS THE WINDOW REGULATOR. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY DOWN THE FREEWAY WITH WINDOWS UP AND DOORS LOCKED. I HEARD A LOUD "POP" FROM BEHIND. THEN, THE LEFT REAR PASSENGER WINDOW BEGAN TO SLIDE DOWN. THIS WAS A WINDY, RAINY DAY. THE DISTRACTIONS CREATED BY THE "POP", THE RAIN BLOWING IN THE OPEN WINDOW, AND THE POTENTIAL FOR ITEMS INSIDE THE VEHICLE TO BLOW OUT CREATED A SERIES OF SAFETY CONCERNS. I HAVE SINCE DISCOVERED THAT THE WINDOW REGULATOR PROBLEM IS RAMPANT WITH THIS PARTICULAR MODEL OF VEHICLE AND THAT OTHERS HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. *TR
I DRIVE A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY (4 DOOR). BOTH WINDOWS ON BOTH BACKSEAT PASSENGER DOORS FELL INTO THE DOORS ON MORE THAN TWO OCCASIONS IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS. THE GLASS WINDOWS FALL INTO THE DOORS AND WILL NOT COME BACK UP. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY AND I HAVE 3 BROKEN WINDOW REGULATORS THAT HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO REPEATEDLY BREAK ON THE LIBERTY'S WITH NORMAL USE. JEEP DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THIS AS A DEFECT AND EXPECTS THEIR CUSTOMERS TO CONTINUALLY REPAIR THEM. ON TOP OF THIS, JEEP RECENTLY UPGRADED THE WINDOW REGULATORS, SO THAT WHEN YOU GO TO REPLACE THEM, THEY NO LONGER FIT THE EXISTING WINDOW AND YOU MUST REPLACE THE WINDOW AS WELL. THIS HAS CAUSE A GREAT AMOUNT OF ECONOMIC STRESS FOR MYSELF AND MANY OTHER JEEP OWNERS WHO ARE FORCED TO KEEP HANDING OVER MONEY TO JEEP FOR A PART THAT THEY KNOW IS DEFECTIVE. *TR
2006 JEEP LIBERTY - FAULTY WINDOW REGULATOR AND CHRYSLER/JEEP'S RELUCTANCE TO RECTIFY THIS WELL-DOCUMENTED PROBLEM AT THEIR COST. *TR
RECURRING WINDOW REGULATORS BREAKING IN JEEP LIBERTY'S. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A USED 2006 JEEP LIBERTY WHICH WAS PURCHASED IN 2008. HE STATED THAT WHEN ADDING GASOLINE, THE FUEL PUMP WOULD NOT SHUT-OFF AND THE GASOLINE FUEL WOULD OVERFLOW FROM TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE "FLAPPER" HAD FAILED. THERE WERE NO REPAIRS MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE ALSO NO RECALL CAMPAIGNS FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 75,000. 06/28/10*JB
I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH EVERY WINDOW ON MY CAR NOT ROLLING UP. I HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES TO HAVE THEM FIX THEM. NOW I AM OUT OF THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY, BUT AM ON THE "PLATINUM" WARRANTY AND THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME YESTERDAY THAT IT WOULD BE $200.00 TO FIX THE REAR WINDOW. THIS IS A TOTAL RIPOFF. IS THERE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT I CAN JOIN TO MAKE THEM FIX MY CAR? IT'S RIDICULOUS TO PAY $400.00/MONTH AND HAVE A PIECE OF CRAP CAR THAT I CAN NOT ROLL MY WINDOWS UP OR DOWN. *TR
THE WINDOWS ON MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY SPORT CONSTANTLY BREAK AND THUS THE WINDOW IS FORCED ALL THE WAY DOWN AND I THEN HAVE TO DRIVE WITH IT OPEN OR TAPE A PLASTIC BAG TO KEEP THE RAIN OUT UNTIL I CAN GET TO THE DEALERSHIP. IN THE PAST 3 YEARS SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE CAR, I HAVE HAD TO BRING IN MY CAR ON 8 SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. EACH DOOR WINDOW HAS BROKEN TWICE. I FEEL AS THOUGH THE SAFETY OF MY CAR IN IS JEOPARDY WHEN THE WINDOW IS FULLY DOWN AND DO NOT FEEL SAFE NOT BEING ABLE TO PUT IT UP WHEN DRIVING, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT. THIS MODEL'S WINDOWS AND REGULATORS SHOULD BE RECALLED. HAVING TO PAY FOR THE WINDOWS AND MISSING WORK TO HAVE THEM REPLACED IS UNACCEPTABLE. THANK YOU. *TR
THE WINDOWS IN MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY KEEP FALLING DOWN INSIDE THE DOOR. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN TO THREE OF THE FOUR WINDOWS. ONE WINDOW I HAVE HAD IN THE REPAIR SHOP THREE TIMES (DEALERSHIP) TO FIX THE SAME PROBLEM. THE LAST TIME THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED, BUT NOW I CAN'T OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE, WHICH TO ME SEEMS LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE. MY WIFE AND I WERE DRIVING BACK FROM A TRIP IN THE MIDDLE OF A HEAVY RAIN STORM WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE WINDOW FELL DOWN INSIDE THE DOOR. IT STARTED HAILING WHICH WAS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE FOR OUR CHILDREN RIDING IN THE BACK SEAT. I AM JUST THANKFUL THAT WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT DID NOT HAPPEN. THE DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD ME THAT THE PROBLEM OCCURS BECAUSE OF A BAD MOTOR INSIDE THE DOOR PANEL. THE CHEAPEST I HAVE FOUND TO FIX THIS PROBLEM IS $300 PER WINDOW. THIS IS RIDICULOUS WHEN THE PROBLEM KEEPS OCCURING!
I BROUGHT MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE. I WAS TOLD I NEEDED NEW BALL JOINTS. I HAD THEM REPLACED IN 2007 THROUGH A CHRYSLER/JEEP RECALL. NOW, LESS THAN 2 YEARS LATER, I HAVE TO HAVE THEM REPLACED AGAIN AT MY EXPENSE. *TR
JEEP LIBERTY RENEGADE 2006 - BROKEN WINDOW REGULATOR 3X IN 3 YEAR. I BOUGHT THIS JEEP BRAND NEW AND EACH YEAR, THE WINDOW COMES OFF THE TRACK--IN 3/07, 8/08, AND NOW 10/09. *TR
THE IGNITION KEY WAS STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND THE BRAKE PARK INTERLOCK MECHANISM WAS NOT WORKING. I WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE SHIFTER THROUGH IT'S ENTIRE RANGE WITHOUT PRESSING THE LOCK BUTTON ON THE SHIFTER KNOB. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD SINCE WITHOUT THESE SAFETY MECHANISMS OPERATING CORRECTLY THE SHIFTER CAN BE ACCIDENTALLY KNOCKED ONTO DRIVE. THE WEAK LINK IS A PLASTIC PUSH ROD IN THE SHIFTER MECHANISM THAT IS NOT STRONG ENOUGH FOR THE JOB. MANY CHRYSLER SHIFTERS WILL FAIL IN THIS MANNER. *TR
THE WINDOW REGULATORS FOR MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY HAVE FAILED. THIS IS A MAJOR COMPLAINT WITH THE 2006 JEEP LIBERTY AND THIS SHOULD BE SUBJECT TO A RECALL. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. JEEP NEEDS TO MAKE THIS RIGHT. THE WINDOW REGULATORS FOR THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR WINDOW STOPPED WORKING IN 2009, AND THE WINDOW REGULATOR IN THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT WINDOW STOPPED WORKING IN 2012. *TR
THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW CAME OFF TRACK AND SLID DOWN INTO THE DOOR, WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. *TR
LEFT REAR WINDOW FELL DOWN WHILE THE CAR WAS PARKED. THIS DOOR IS SELDOM USED AND THE WINDOW HAD NOT BEEN ACTIVATED SINCE I PURCHASED IT IN 2006. CHRYSLER SERVICE DEPT. STATED THE REGULATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. BECAUSE IT WAS "ONLY" 1200 MILES OUT OF WARRANTY, CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE WOULD COVER ALL BUT $100 OF THE COST. INTERNET SEARCH REVEALED MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS OF THIS ISSUE. *KB
THREE WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURES OVER A 1 YEAR SPAN. DEFECTIVE OEM PARTS. MANUFACTURE AWARE OF DEFECTIVE PARTS AND NEW UPGRADED PARTS AVAILABLE BUT AT THE EXPENSE OF VEHICLE OWNERS. REPAIR EXPENSE FOR EACH WINDOW IS $250.00. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND 2002-2006 MODELS ALL HAVE THESE PROBLEMS WITH ALL 4 WINDOW REGULATORS HAVING TO BE REPLACED. THIS SHOULD BE AT THE COST OF THE MANUFACTURER NOT THE OWNER. A RECALL ON THESE WINDOW REGULATORS SHOULD BE ISSUED. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY IT HAS NOT ALREADY BEEN DONE!! *TR
POWER WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURE. WINDOW WILL NOT GO UP OR DOWN. HAVE SEEN MANY, MANY COMPLAINTS OF THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. MAKES DRIVING IN RAIN IMPOSSIBLE, AND CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WHEN THE WINDOW WOULD NOT GO UP ON THE INTERSTATE. *TR
WHEN EVER JEEP IS FUELED UP , FUEL GUSHES OUT OF FILLER NECK WHEN NOZZLE SHUTS OFF ,SLOW OR FAST, IT MAKES A MESS ON JEEP AND ON THE GROUND. BIG FIRE HAZARD.
IN RESPONSE TO ALL THE COMPLAINTS OF ABS LIGHT AND BRAKES FEELING LIKE THEY WON'T WORK. I HAD THIS PROBLEM AND WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP A LOT OVER THE LAST 2 YEARS. IT TURNED OUT TO BE A BURNT WIRE! I HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS (WHICH IS A LONG TIME FOR THIS CAR)!. PLEASE TELL YOUR MECHANIC TO CHECK THE BRAKE SENSOR (ABS SENSOR) WIRES!! *KB

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH THE CONTACT NOTICED THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW DROPPED INTO THE DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR HAD FRACTURED AND AS A RESULT IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED THREE DIFFERENT TIMES. THE WINDOW REGULATOR WAS REPLACED IN THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TWICE AND ONCE IN THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
I HAVE A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY 4X4 THE REAR WINDOW PASSENGER SIDE HAS STOPPED WORKING, OR SHOULD I SAY IT JUST FELL MAKING A LOUD BOOM WHEN IT CAME CRASHING DOWN, I'M JUST GLAD I DIDN'T HAVE KIDS IN THE BACK SEAT WHEN IT FELL, IT COULD HAVE BROKE AND REALLY HURT SOME ONE. THE LIBERTY ONLY HAS 46,000. MILES ON IT THE WINDOWS HAS NOT BEEN USED AT ALL SINCE I HAVE HAD IT. I HAVE BEEN DOING RESEARCH ON THE PROBLEM AND THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND IT APPEARS THAT JEEP DOES NOT OFFER A WARRANTY OR A RECALL. LUCKILY, THIS LAST TIME, I WAS ABLE TO CATCH THE WINDOW BEFORE IT'S GREAT FALL OF DEATH INTO THE DOOR AND NOW IT IS ELECTRICAL TAPED UP TO MY DOOR JAM. WHICH IS INCONVENIENT AND UNSAFE. UNTIL I GET IT FIXED, (OR DECIDE TO DROP ANOTHER MEANINGLESS $300+++ DOLLARS TO FIX A REPETITIVE PROBLEM) MY VEHICLE IS UNSAFE AND THERE SHOULD NOT BE A WORRY ON MY PART WHETHER OR NOT ROLLING DOWN MY WINDOWS AT ANY TIME WILL CAUSE THIS PROBLEM REPEATEDLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS NOT THE FIRST TIME THE WINDOWS MALFUNCTIONED. HE WAS ALSO FAMILIAR WITH NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE WINDOW FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000.

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE WINDOW REGULATORS ARE DEFECTIVE AND WHEN THEY ARE REPLACED THERE IS NO GUARANTEED THAT IT WILL NOT FAIL AGAIN. REPORT 19324618 WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY TOLD HER TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THEY ALSO STATED THAT SHE MIGHT RECEIVE A GOODWILL ALLOWANCE TO HELP WITH THE REPAIR. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,500. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 69,700.
THIS IS TO REPORT A FAULTY PART ON THE WINDOW REGULATOR. THREE TIMES MINE HAS FAILED. TWICE THE LEFT REAR WINDOW HAS FALLEN INTO THE DOOR DUE TO A REGULATOR WHICH WAS FAULTY AND ON THE THIRD OCCASION IS WAS THE RIGHT REAR WINDOW THAT FELL. LUCKY FOR ME, I WAS STOPPED WHEN MY WINDOWS DROPPED. WHEN THE PART FAILS, THE GLASS JUST FALLS DOWN INTO THE DOOR. THE COST TO REPAIR IS $750. AT THE DEALER BECAUSE YOU MUST REPLACE THE WHOLE REGULATOR, YOU CANNOT REPLACE JUST THE FIFTY CENT PART. THE ALTERNATIVE WHICH MOST PEOPLE DO IS TO TAPE THE WINDOW GLASS UP WHICH OBSCURES THE VISION AND IS A SAFETY HAZARD. THIS IS A CHRONIC PROBLEM THAT JEEP HAS KNOWN ABOUT FOR YEARS. IMAGINE A MOTHER DRIVING WITH A CHILD IN THE REAR CAR SEAT IN A HEAVY RAINSTORM AND PASSES A TRACTOR TRAILER AT NORMAL SPEEDS. THE WINDOW FAILS AND FALLS. YOU THEN HAVE HEAVY RAIN AND DEBRIS COMING INTO THE REAR WINDOW. THE MOTHER PANICS AS SHE IS CONCERNED ABOUT WHAT IS HAPPENING TO HER CHILD AND VEERS INTO THE TRACTOR TRAILER. THESE VEHICLES NEED TO BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY. THE FAULTY PLASTIC SLIDES NEED TO BE REDESIGNED AND REPLACED WITH A METAL SLIDE WITH NEOPRENE GUIDES. I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM - A SIMPLE INTERNET SEARCH WILL YIELD HUNDREDS OF OTHER INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE ENCOUNTERED THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE SAVED THE PARTS FROM MY DOOR IF YOU WISH TO INSPECT THEM.
