2006 JEEP LIBERTY. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO A RECALL FOLLOW-UP NOTICE THAT WAS TO BE SENT, WHICH CONSUMER HAS NOT RECEIVED. *SMD RECALL 13V252000. *JB
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT FLASHING WHILE DRIVING. LIGHT TURNS OFF WHEN ENGINE IS TURNED OFF, AND STAYS ON WHEN ENGINE IS TURNED ON. *TR
WHEN DRIVING I WOULD STOP SOMEWHERE GET BACK IN TO THE JEEP GO TO TURN THE JEEP ON AND NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN. IT WOULDN'T TURN OVER. MECHANIC SAID TO PUMP THE GAS. SOMETIMES IT WOULD START SOMETIMES IT WOULDN'T. KEY WOULD GET STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND YOU HAD A HARD TIME PULLING IT OUT. TOOK IT IN TO THE MECHANIC FOR A DAY AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT, NO CODES. DRIVE AGAIN JEEP WOULD DO THE SAME THING. THEN WHEN FAR FROM HOME GOT INTO JEEP TO GO HOME AND IT WOULDN'T TURN OVER, WOULDN'T START, COULDN'T JUMP IT, BUT THE BATTERY AND ALL ELECTRICAL WORKED. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE MECHANIC. AFTER 2 DAYS THEY FOUND IT TO BE A BROKEN PIN INSIDE THE IGNITION. A PLASTIC PIECE WRAPPED AROUND A METAL PIECE BROKE. $800 LATER AFTER TOWING,PARTS AND LABOR. THIS IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT OR JUST PLAIN CHEAP PARTS. LIBERTY'S SHOULD BE RECALLED TOO. *TR
THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW FAILED TO GO UP AFTER I HAD LOWERED IT A LITTLE BIT. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS WINDOW HAS HAD THIS ISSUE AND WILL BE THE FIFTH TIME I HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE SINCE OWNING THE VEHICLE SINCE 2006. WHEN I CONTACTED THE DODGE / JEEP / CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP ABOUT THIS ISSUE, THEY TOLD ME THE WARRANTY WAS NO LONGER VALID, IN OTHER WORDS IT EXPIRED IN MARCH OF 2014 AND I WOULD NOW BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING FOR ANY WORK NEEDED TO BE DONE TO REPAIR THIS WINDOW ISSUE. THIS DEALERSHIP DOES HAVE MY PRIOR RECORDS ON FILE IN THEIR COMPUTER SYSTEM OF THE 4 PREVIOUS TIMES I'VE BEEN THERE TO HAVE THIS ISSUE REPAIRED AS WELL. *TR
KEY WILL NOT RELEASE FROM IGNITION ON STEERING COLUMN DUE TO RESTRICTED (DEGRADED RANGE OF MOTION FROM A SUBASSEMBLY WITH WEAKENED SPRING) MOVEMENT OF AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTER INTERLOCK CABLE. VEHICLE CAN NOT BE PUT IN PARK (SHIFTER FREELY MOVES THROUGH P R N D 3 2) AND KEY WILL NOT MAKE THE LAST LITTLE TURN BEFORE RELEASE. SEEMS TO BE AN EXTREMELY COMMON OCCURRENCE AMONG OWNERS, BASED ON CURSORY ONLINE RESEARCH. REQUIRES REPLACEMENT OF ENTIRE CENTER CONSOLE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY WITH AN "UPGRADED/IMPROVED" MOPAR PART TO FIX THE KNOWN HIGH FAILURE SUBASSEMBLY (BUT NOT AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE SEPARATELY). TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE LOW COOLANT WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT REPLENISHED THE COOLANT RESERVOIR BUT IT AUTOMATICALLY EVAPORATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT COMPLETELY STOPPED AND A VEHICLE HIT ME GOING AT A SPED OF 30 MPH, AND PUSHED ME INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED, HOWEVER I HAVE TERRIBLE WHIPLASH. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS A MECHANIC AND NOTICED THE SHIFTING CABLE WAS LOOSE AND PUSHED IT BACK IN WHICH ALLOWED HIM TO TAKE THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. OUR JEEP LIBERTY FAILED INSPECTION DUE TO A FAILED CLOCK SPRING. THIS PART IS BACKORDERED WITH AN EXPECTED DELIVERY TIME FRAME OF MORE THAN 7 MONTHS. SINCE THIS WAS A SAFETY INSPECTION FAILURE, THIS VEHICLE IS NON-DRIVABLE. WE WERE FORCED TO SCRAP THE LIBERTY AND PURCHASE ANOTHER VEHICLE (FORD). WE RECEIVED ABSOLUTELY NO HELP FROM THE DEALERSHIP, OR FROM CHRYSLER CORPORATE. MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING AND A TRUCK IN FRONT OF HER STOPPED QUICKLY CAUSING MY DAUGHTER TO SLAM ON BRAKES TO AVOID A COLLISION BUT ENDED UP REAR ENDING THE TRUCK. HER AIRBAG DEPLOYED AND HER JEEP HAD TO BE TOWED FROM THE SITE. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP SINCE 4/28/14 AND WAS REPAIRED EXCEPT FOR THE CLOCK SPRING WHICH IS NECESSARY FOR THE NEW AIRBAG. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS PART IS NO LONGER PRODUCED OR MANUFACTURED BY ANY VENDOR IN THE COUNTRY. THEREFORE, OUR JEEP CANNOT BE RELEASED TO US WHICH HAS CAUSED A HARDSHIP ON OUR FAMILY AS WELL AS A HARDSHIP FOR THE SHOP MANAGER AS HE CANNOT BE PAID UNTIL THE CAR IS RELEASED. BECAUSE OF THIS I BELIEVE THAT ANYONE DRIVING A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY IN THE COUNTRY IS POSSIBLY AT RISK DUE TO THIS DEVICE NOT BEING READILY AVAILABLE IN THE PROPER SUPPLY CHANNELS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED CONSTANTLY. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS LEAKING. I FILLED UP AT 2 DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS ABOUT 300 MILES APART AND THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED. I SET THE AUTOMATIC STOP AND THE PUMP AUTOMATICALLY SHUTS OFF. I GO TO REMOVE THE HANDLE ABOUT 2-3 SECONDS LATER AND GAS COMES SPEWING OUT ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE JEEP AND ONTO THE GROUND. THERE SEEMS TO BE A REOCCURRING PROBLEM WITH THOUSANDS OF LIBERTY OWNERS. MANY PEOPLE I HAVE TALKED TO TELL ME THAT THERE IS NO PERMANENT FIX FOR THIS AND I HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT. I HAVE OWNED ABOUT 10 DIFFERENT VEHICLES IN MY TIME AND NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THEM EVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. I WILL NOT STAND FOR THE "THERE IS NO PERMANENT FIX" BS ANYMORE. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW BY CHRYSLER INC AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AS THE OWNERS ARE AT RISK OF INJURY AND THE GAS STATIONS ARE AT RISK OF FIRE AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC ARE AT RISK AS WELL. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE BY CHRYSLER, IF NOT I WILL REPORT THEM TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. *TR

AS I HAD JUST EXITED THE FLORIDA'S TURNPIKE NORTH BOUND AT KENDALL DRIVE IN MIAMI AND ATTEMPTED TO ENTER THE TOWN AND COUNTRY MALL AT ABOUT 20 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE BALL JOINT OF MY 2006 CRD 4X4 JEEP LIBERTY CAME APART CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LOCK THE FRONT WHEEL AS THE STEERING ARM WITH PART OF THE BALL JOINT ENTER AND LANDED INSIDE THE RIM AND THE TIRE, PERFORATING IT AND PREVENTING THE TIRE FROM TURNING CAUSING THE JEEP TO ALMOST BUCK LIKE A HORSE SENDING US HEAD FIRST TOWARDS THE WINDSHIELD. THANKFULLY, IT DID NOT HAPPEN 45 SECONDS EARLIER WHEN MY FAMILY AND I WERE ON THE EXPRESS WAY DRIVING 65 MPH...IT WOULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC! THIS EQUIPMENT/PART FAILURE IS KNOWN AS RECALL F-23 BY CHRYSLER/JEEP AND THEY ARE WELL AWARE OF IT!! I WAS NEVER AWARE OF SUCH RECALL !! CHRYSLER/JEEP, AFTER ONE MONTH AT THEIR DEALER CONTINUE TO REFUSE TO FIX THE COLLATERAL DAMAGE ON THE VEHICLE (RIM, ETC) CREATED BY THEIR DEFECTIVE PART!! USING AS AN EXCUSE THAT THE FACTORY WARRANTY IS OVER WHEN IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THAT. CHRYSLER SENT AN "INDEPENDENT" INSPECTOR TO VIEW THE VEHICLE. THIS "INDEPENDENT" INSPECTOR'S BILL IS PAID BY CHRYSLER. THIS EQUIPMENT FAILURE IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!! AND COULD BE FATAL!!! PLEASE HELP!! AT THIS TIME I ONLY WANT MY JEEP FIXED PROPERLY, AND THAT CHRYSLER HONORS THE TRADITIONAL JEEP QUALITY AND COMMITMENT TO THEIR CUSTOMERS!! THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE LOWER BALL JOINTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND MADE THE CONTACT AWARE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 06V288000 (SUSPENSION). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 141,000. WHILE DRIVING ALONG THE INTERSTATE AT 65MPH THE PASSENGER SIDE BACK WINDOW MADE A POP SOUND AND FELL INTO THE DOOR, MAKING A LOUD BANG. AMAZED THE WINDOW DID NOT BREAK. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME A WINDOW HAS FAILED IN THIS VEHICLE. THE DRIVER'S SIDE WAS REPLACED TWO YEARS AGO AND THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT SOUNDS LIKE IT IS ABOUT TO GO AT ANY TIME. IT IS MAKING WHINING NOISES WHEN ACTIVATED AND MOVES VERY SLOW. *TT

AFTER CONTACTING THE DEALER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WERE NOT AVAILABLE AND NO ESTIMATED TIME FOR RECEIVING THE PARTS COULD BE GIVEN. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
WE PURCHASED A USED 2006 JEEP LIBERTY LAST YEAR. LAST NIGHT WE WENT TO DRIVE IT UP THE ROAD AND THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE DISENGAGED FROM THE STEERING KNUCKLE AND THE BALL JOINT DISCONNECTED. LUCKILY ENOUGH WE WEREN'T DRIVING VERY FAST OTHERWISE IT COULD HAVE CAUSED INJURY CONSIDERING THE TIRE IS NOW ALMOST AT A 90 DEGREE ANGLE AND WE CAN'T MOVE THE CAR. I UNDERSTAND THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS IS 8 YEARS AFTER THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE DATE, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF I CAN GET A MANUFACTURER REPAIR DONE FREE OF CHARGE, AND WOULD RATHER HAVE IT DONE AT A DEALER KNOWING THEY WOULD HAVE THE CORRECT PARTS. NORMALLY MY 1 YEAR OLD IS IN THE CAR, LUCKILY HE WASN'T LAST NIGHT, BUT WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF I AM ENTITLED TO REPAIRS. *TR

THE CONTACT DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 87,500.
CHRYSLER CASE NUMBER [XXX] JEEP LIBERTYOWNER [XXX]: BROUGHT JEEP VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP (BEDARD BROTHERS MA.) IN MARCH OF THIS YEAR. VEHICLE FAILED INSPECTION (SAFETY/AIRBAG). DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A CLOCK SPRING REPLACEMENT. CHRYSLER IS UNABLE TO REPLACE THIS PART (WAITING @1 YEAR). UNABLE TO PERFORM REPAIR TO VEHICLE BECAUSE CLOCK SPRING PART IS UNAVAILABLE - CAN'T BE FOUND ANYWHERE - CHRYSLER PROCUREMENT FAILURE. CAR IS UN-DRIVABLE. THIS VEHICLE IS ONE OF FOUR HUNDRED ACROSS THE COUNTRY WAITING FOR THIS PART. RECEIVED ABSOLUTELY NO ASSISTANCE FROM CHRYSLER OR DEALERSHIP. HAD TO SCRAP CAR. LOST A LOT OF MONEY. RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL IN DECEMBER OF 2013 . CONTACTED LOCAL DEALER AND WAS TOLD PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE SHIFT ASSEMBLY FOR THESE MODEL OF JEEPS FAILS TO OPERATE CORRECTLY. THE CABLE WILL NOT SET IN THE PROPER POSITION WHEN SHIFTED BACK INTO PARK, DISABLING THE OWNER'S ABILITY TO REMOVE THEIR KEY FROM THE IGNITION. THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO REMOVE THE COVER COVERING THE SHIFT ASSEMBLY AND FORCEFULLY PUSH THE CABLE INTO PLACE TO RELEASE THE KEY. IN ADDITION TO THIS, THE SHIFT HANDLE CAN BE BUMPED AND SHIFTED INTO GEARS, OR INTO REVERSE OR PARK, WITHOUT THE BRAKE BEING PUSHED AS WOULD NORMALLY OPERATE THE ASSEMBLY. THIS CAUSES THE RISK OF ACCIDENTALLY BUMPING THE VEHICLE INTO A GEAR THAT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND RISK THE DRIVER'S LIFE. *TR

I WAS SITTING IN A PARKING LOT AND MY BACK PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW FELL DOWN. I DIDN'T HIT ANY OF THE BUTTONS, IT JUST FELL. I TOOK IT TO GET LOOKED AT AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE WINDOW REGULATOR WENT BAD AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND I BELIEVE IT IS CRAZY THAT THIS PART ISN'T APART OF THE RECALL. THE PLACE DIDN'T HAVE ANY IN STOCK (SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM PROBABLY BECAUSE IT HAS HAPPENED SO MANY TIMES TO COUNTLESS CUSTOMERS), SO BASICALLY I WAS CHARGED 110$ FOR THEM TO LOOK AT AND TELL ME WHAT IS WRONG WHILE ME KNOWING IT WAS EITHER THAT OR THE LIFT PLATE. I PULLED UP TO A STOP AT AN INTERSECTION. THE PASSENGER LOWERED THE PASSENGER FRONT-SIDE WINDOW USING THE ELECTRICAL BUTTON. THE WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR AND DID NOT COME BACK UP WHEN THE PASSENGER TRIED TO RAISE IT AGAIN. THIS IS THE THIRD WINDOW THIS HAS HAPPENED TO. EACH TIME THE DIAGNOSIS WAS A BROKEN WINDOW REGULATOR. *TR
CAR WAS DISABLED DUE TO DEFECTIVE TAB INSIDE STEERING COLUMN. VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. BATTERY FINE. STARTER FINE. MECHANIC FOUND IT TO BE AN NON-SERVICEABLE PART WITHIN THE STEERING COLUMN. ENTIRE COLUMN HAS TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE TO EITHER WAIT FOR A NEW COLUMN TO SHIP AND PAY A TOTAL OF $920 PARTS AND LABOR AND TAX. OR BUY A USED ONE AND TOTAL COST IS $475. THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PART THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED. THIS PART CANNOT BE MAINTAINED AND IS NOT SUBJECT TO NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. CAR STARTS ACCEPTING GAS THEN YOU CAN HEAR IT GURGLE BACK UP WHILE IT SHUTS OFF THE PUMP. IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW FAR IN OR OUT THE HOSE NOZZLE IS EITHER. IT IS TAKING FOREVER TO GET GAS INTO MY CAR MOST OF IT ENDS UP SPILLING OUT OVER THE TOP OF THE GAS DOOR. PARKED CAR IN MY GARAGE STARTED TO USE THE CAR AGAIN AFTER BRINGING IT IN TO DEALER FOR TWO RECALLS TO BE DONE SPENDING OVER 500 DOLLARS CHANGING ALL THE FLUIDS BUYING A BRAD NEW BATTERY DROVE CAR EVERY DAY SINCE AUGUST 21,2015 CAR HAS 358 MILES AT THIS DATE AUGUST 28 2015 THE BACK RIGHT WINDOWS MECHANISM DOESN'T WORK JUST LIKE THE PREVIEUS TIME. CAR ITS LIKE BRAND NEW AND THE TWO REAR WINDOWS HAVE STOPPED WORKING. CAN YOU LET ME KNOW IF OTHER PEOPLE HAD THIS PROBLEM. THANKS
