TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT ALL FOUR WINDOWS DROPPED DOWN INSIDE THE DOOR PANELS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR WINDOW WAS REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE REAR AND FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR WINDOWS WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
RAIRDON JEEP DEALERSHIP HAS HAD OVER A MONTH TO INSTALL TRAILER HITCH FOR THE RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES AND AFTER CALLING THEM THREE TIMES THEY SAID I AM NUMBER 40 ON THEIR LIST AND THEY HAVE HAD ONLY TEN HITCHES DELIVERED TO THEM SINCE THE RECALL. *TR
SINCE RECEIVING THE RECALL NOTIFICATION, I HAVE CONTACTED JEEP SEAVIEW SEVERAL TIMES TO GET THE POTENTIAL PROBLEM RESOLVED AND I AM BEING TOLD THAT ONLY LIMITED QUANTITIES HAVE BEEN SENT TO THE DEALERSHIP. I FIND THIS UNACCEPTABLE. IF THERE IS A RECALL THAT IS A PLANNED EVENT, SHOULDN'T THERE BE ENOUGH PARTS TO REPLACE DEFECTIVE ONES? AFTER RECEIVING THE WARNING LETTER CONCERNING THE RECALL ON MY VEHICLE I DID GET A RESPONSE FROM CHRYSLER. WHICH READ (THE PARTS REQUIRED TO REMEDY THE SITUATION WERE NOT AVAILABLE). AND THEY WILL SEND ME A FOLLOW UP NOTICE WHEN TO BRING MY CAR IN FOR REPAIR. AFTER QUITE A LONG TIME I GET NOTICES FROM THEM TELLING ME TO COME IN AND PURCHASE A NEW CAR. THAT MAY HELP THEM SOLVE THE PROBLEM BUT IT DOES NOT HELP ME BECAUSE I CANNOT ALWAYS AFFORD TO USE NEW CAR PURCHASE TO SOLVE MY PROBLEMS. *TR

I AM WRITING ABOUT THE WINDOW REGULATORS IN A 2007 JEEP LIBERTY. SEVERAL YEARS BACK, THERE WAS A RECALL, AND WITHIN THE TIME FRAME OF THAT RECALL, WE HAD 3 WINDOW REGULATORS GO BAD AND GET FIXED. WE JUST HAD THE 4TH WINDOW SLIDE DOWN AND NOW JEEP IS SAYING THE WARRANTY IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT AND THEY WILL NOT FIX IT. IT SHOULDN'T MATTER WHEN THE PROBLEM HAPPENED, A PROBLEM IS A PROBLEM AND IT SHOULDN'T HAVE TO HAPPEN WITHIN A CERTAIN TIME FRAME TO GET IT FIXED. *TR

I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL N46/NHTSA 13V-252 FROM THE NT AND MVSACT IN WHICH MY CHRYSLER DEALER WOULD INSTALL ON MY VEHICLE, AT NOT CHARGE TO ME, AN ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER TRAILER HITCH. TO DO SO, THE INSTRUCTIONS INDICATE THAT I WOULD RECEIVE A FOLLOW UP NOTE. SUCH NOTE NEVER ARRIVED, PREVENTING MY DEALER FROM TAKING FURTHER STEPS (THEY SAID THEY NEED THAT SECOND MAIL). I AM CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY. PLEASE ADVISE. *TR
PASSENGER WINDOW FELL INTO DOOR WHEN PASSENGER EXITED VEHICLE AND CLOSED DOOR. CAR WAS NOT TURNED ON AT THE TIME. CAR IS AT JEEP DEALERSHIP IN BATAVIA, OH FOR REPAIR. THIS IS THE 7TH TIME I HAVE HAD A WINDOW REGULATOR/ LIFT PLATE FAIL. SEVENTH!! CHRYSLER ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY IN 2010 FOR SELECT MODELS OF JEEP LIBERTY VEHICLES THAT EXPIRED IN MARCH 2014. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CHRYSLER. MY WINDOW ISSUES HAVE NOT BEEN RESOLVED! I AM EXHAUSTED FROM NOT ONLY FIGHTING WITH CHRYSLER ABOUT THESE DEFECTIVE PARTS, BUT ALSO FROM THE INCONVENIENCE OF HAVING THESE WINDOWS FAIL. I HAVE DRIVEN FOR HOURS IN THE RAIN WITH A WINDOW OPEN AND I HAVE DRIVEN FOR HOURS AT SUBZERO TEMPS ON AN EXPRESSWAY IN A BLIZZARD WITH A WINDOW OPEN. AND I HAVE HAD TO DRIVE AROUND WITH PLASTIC TAPED TO MY WINDOW (LOOKS HORRENDOUS) AND RISK HAVING PERSONAL AFFECTS STOLEN DUE TO MY INABILITY TO SECURE MY VEHICLE. I EXPECT TIRES AND BRAKES TO WEAR AND HOSE AND BELTS TO FAIL OVER TIME. I DO NOT EXPECT TO PAY TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR A VEHICLE THAT HAS FAULTY WINDOWS!! AFTER CLOSING THE FUEL CAP, THE FUEL CAP WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,151.
WHILE DRIVING TO MY DAUGHTER'S SCHOOL ON 08/08, I HEARD A LOUD POP WHILE TURNING ONTO A MAJOR SECONDARY ROAD. THE FRONT END ON PASSENGER SIDE DROPPED ON THE TIRE AND I LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE (THE STEERING WHEEL GOT SHAKY AND WOBBLY) AND I WAS FIGHTING TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHICH ALMOST COST ME TO FLIP OVER. I WAS ABLE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP IN THE MEDIUM. IN ACCESSING THE DAMAGE, MY FRONT TIRE IS PARTIALLY FLAT, MY FRONT END BUMPER IS LAYING HEAVILY ON THE WHEEL ON THE RIGHT SIDE WHICH IS CAUSING THE TRUCK TO LEAN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO MY HOME WHERE THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER ASSESS THE BALL JOINT ON THE RIGHT SIDE HAD DISMANTLED. I'M AWARE THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS YEAR BUT FROM THE PREVIOUS YEARS, THERE HAS BEEN RECALLS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM EXPERIENCED BY OTHER JEEP DRIVERS. I IMPLORE YOU TO INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE I ALMOST LOST MY LIFE ON YESTERDAY AND COULD HAD POSSIBLY HURT OTHERS IN THE PROCESS. I QUITE SURE CHRYSLER INC HAS BEEN RECEIVING COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS BUT HAS FAILED TO HELP CONSUMERS. BECAUSE OF THIS, I'M WITHOUT A VEHICLE AND HAVE TO FIND OTHER MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS JEEP WROTE THAT I WOULD RECEIVE A TRAILER HITCH TO ENHANCE SAFETY FROM REAR END COLLISIONS, TO PREVENT THE GAS TANK FROM BLOWING UP. WHEN I TOOL THE LIBERTY IN FOR THE RECALL, ALL THEY PUT ON WAS THE HOLDER FOR THE BALL HITCH. THEY DID NOT PUT ON THE TRAILER HITCH ITSELF. THEY PROVIDED A POORLY COPIED LETTER WHICH INCLUDED THIS PARAGRAPH: "DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TOW WITH THE CAMPAIGN-INSTALLED TRAILER HITCH ASSEMBLY. YOUR VEHICLE WAS NOT EQUIPPED WITH A CHRYSLER OEM TRAILER TOW PACKAGE AND THIS CAMPAIGN-HITCH ASSEMBLY DOES NOT INCLUDE THE NECESSARY WIRING HARNESSES AND/OR OTHER HEAVY DUTY COMPONENTS FOR TOWING." I BELIEVE THIS IS A SLAP IN THE FACE BY CHRYSLER TO ITS CUSTOMERS AND THE NHTSB, SAYING, "YOU CAN MAKE ME DO X, AND WE WILL AGREE, BUT THEN WE WON'T DO X, WE'LL DO X MINUS A AND B". IF IT ISN'T STRONG ENOUGH FOR A SIMPLE TOW, HOW IS IT GOING TO PROTECT ME IN A COLLISION? AND HOW IS PROMISING A TRAILER HITCH, BUT INSTALLING ONLY THE WEAKEST PART OF A TRAILER HITCH, COMPLY WITH THEIR EARLIER WRITTEN PROMISES? I HAVE VOICED THESE CONCERNS TO THE LOCAL DEALER AND TO THEIR CORPORATE OFFICE MANAGING THE RECALL, AND THEY HAVE BEEN DISMISSIVE OF MY QUESTIONS...UPDATED 11/17/14 *BF *TR *JS

I RECEIVED THE FIRST RECALL AUGUST, 2014. I RECEIVED MANY OTHERS SINCE THEN. CALLED THE LOCAL JEEP DEALER AND WAS TOLD I WAS ON A WAITING LIST. I CALLED FEB., 2015- WAS TOLD 3-4 WEEKS. RECEIVED SAFETY RECALL FROM CHRYSLER RECENTLY INDICATING IF I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS GETTING THE VEHICLE IN TO BE FIXED AND THAT I MAY QUALIFY FOR $100 VISA PREPAID CARD, DUE TO THE WAIT TIME. I AM STILL NOT SCHEDULED TO HAVE FUEL TANK FIXED.

ON THIS DATE I WAS DRIVING DOWN HWY 97 AT 60MPH. THE RIGHT SIDE REAR WINDOW FELL DOWN. THIS IS THE 3RD WINDOW OUT OF 4 THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO. THE DEALER, DAMSKOV AUTO IN OMAK, WA. FIXED THE LEFT REAR FOR FREE. WHEN THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW FELL, THEY SAID IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. NOW MY 3RD ONE WAS JUST INSPECTED AND AN ESTIMATE GIVEN ($391) TO REPAIR IT ALSO. WITH 2 CAR SEATS IN THE REAR, THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT JEEP REFUSES TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR. IVE NOTIFIED JEEP 3 TIMES AND THEY STILL REFUSE TO REPAIR THIS.THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS JEEP FOR THE WINDOWS, HOWEVER THEY SAY NOT THIS EXACT PART THAT KEEPS BREAKING. PLEASE HELP ME. 2007 JEEP LIBERTY. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO REAR STRUCTURE REINFORCEMENT RECALL NOTICE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HE RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE FIVE MONTHS AGO. WHEN SHE CALLED THE DEALER, SHE WAS INFORMED THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE, AND THEY WOULD NOT PUT HER ON A LIST.
THE UPPER MOUNTING NUT FOR THE RIGHT REAR PASSENGER SEAT BEAT SHOULDER LOOP IS PRONE TO SHEAR OFF THE MOUNTING PLATE THE NUT IS WELDED TO INSIDE THE C-PILLAR. THIS CAN HAPPEN ANYTIME THE UPPER SEAT BELT LOOP IS SERVICED. I HAD THIS HAPPEN TO MY VEHICLE WHEN INSTALLING THE MOPAR TRAILER TOW WIRE HARNESS. THE INSTALL OF THE WIRE HARNESS CALLS FOR THE REMOVAL OF THE RIGHT REAR INTERNAL TRIM PANEL AND THE UPPER RIGHT REAR PASSENGER SEAT BELT MOUNT. TO REMOVAL THE UPPER SEAT BELT BOLT I HAD USED A T47 BIT SOCKET ON 3/8" RATCHET HANDLE. WHILE REMOVING THE SEAT BELT BOLT, THE BOLT STARTED TO SPIN FREELY AND NOT BE ABLE TO BE REMOVED. I HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC FOR ADVICE AND THEY SAID TAKE IT TO A BODY SHOP. ABRA AUTO BODY IN MADISON, WI HAD PLACED A CAMERA INSIDE THE RIGHT REAR C-PILLER TO FIND THE REASON FOR THE BOLT SPINNING FREELY. ABRA HAD FOUND THAT THE INTERNAL SEAT BELT NUT HAD BROKEN FREE FROM WELDS THAT HOLD THE NUT TO THE RIGHT REAR C-PILLAR. THAT FACT THAT I WAS ABLE TO HAVE THIS SEAT BELT BOLT NUT BREAK FROM ITS WELDS WITH JUST SMALL HAND TOOLS CONCERNS ME THAT THE ENTIRE JEEP LIBERTY FLEET IS PRONE TO REAR PASSENGER SEAT BELT MOUNT POINT FAILURES DURING A CRASH. *TR

WE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE APPROXIMATELY 4 MONTHS AGO FOR THE LIBERTY. THE STATED OUR VEHICLE HAS A SMALL CHANCE OF EXPERIENCING A FUEL TANK LEAK DURING REAR END COLLISIONS. THE DEALER IS SUPPOSE TO INSTALL AN (OME) TRAILER HITCH. WE CALLED THE DEALER OVER A MONTH AGO AND THE PART IS NOT AVAILABLE. IF CHRYSLER KNOWS OF A HAZARD AND ISSUES A RECALL THEY SHOULD HAVE THE PART AVAILABLE. WE THINK THAT OVER 4 MONTHS IS A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME TO WAIT TO HAVE PART AVAILABLE. *TR
WINDOW WOULD NOT GO BACK UP. THE DEALER TOLD ME IT WAS THE WINDOW REGULATOR CABLE, IT BROKE, AND THE WINDOW REGULATOR WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACE, BUT IT NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. IT IS TAPED UP UNTIL I CAN A AFFORD THE REPLACEMENT $450 + LABOR. UNREAL. IT SHOULD BE COVERED. ITS THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED AND I HOPE THE LAST FOR ME. *TR
MY JEEP LIBERTY HAS A SAFETY RECALL (N46/NHTSA 13V-252) RELATIVE TO THE FUEL TANK LEAKING. A NUMBER OF MONTHS AGO, I VISITED MY LOCAL DEALER, IN ORDER TO FIND OUT WHEN THE REPAIRS WOULD BE MADE. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS TO MAKE THE FIX, AND THAT THEY WILL CALL ME, THAT I SHOULDN'T CALL THEM. I HAVE HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AS NHTSA ID # 10615513. MY WINDOW WENT DOWN AND WOULDN'T GO BACK UP. WHEN I ORIGINALLY PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE, I HAD TAKEN IT BACK FOR A PROBLEM W/THAT WINDOW, BUT THEY SAID THEY FOUND NO PROBLEM. I ENDED UP HAVING TO GO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR AN ENTIRE NEW WINDOW SYSTEM, SO I COULD GET THE WINDOW TO ROLL UP. 2007 JEEP LIBERTY - POWER WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURE: JUNE 3 - 2014 - THE RIGHT FRONT POWER WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED AND BECAME INOPERABLE. ON JULY 10, 2014, THE RIGHT REAR POWER WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED, AND THE WINDOW ROLLED DOWN ON ITS OWN WHILE MY DAUGHTER WAS OPERATING THE VEHICLE AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THE WINDOW BECAME INOPERABLE AND COULD NOT BE ROLLED BACK UP. IN THE SERVICE TECH'S REPORT, THE WINDOW REGULATOR "CAME APART." CHRYSLER-JEEP HAD EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THIS PART TO SEVEN YEARS FROM SERVICE DATE THROUGH MARCH 7, 2014 OR ONE MILLION MILES, WHICHEVER CAME FIRST. THEREFORE THEY REFUSE TO COVER THE REPAIR COST UNDER WARRANTY. I AM SENDING THIS REPORT BECAUSE I BELIEVE THESE TWO INCIDENTS HAVE IDENTIFIED AN IMPORTANT SAFETY ISSUE. BECAUSE THE FAILURE CAUSES THE WINDOW TO ROLL DOWN ON ITS OWN AND BECOME INOPERABLE, IF IT DOES SO AT HIGHWAY SPEED OR IN INCLEMENT CONDITIONS THIS COULD PRESENT A SAFETY HAZARD. IN APRIL 2014 HAD TRAILER HITCH INSTALLED BY PRIVATE COMPANY THEN SUBSEQUENTLY SENT INVOICE FOR HITCH TO CHRYSLER REQUESTING REIMBURSEMENT FOR HITCH AND INSTALLATION. ON FRIDAY, MAY 16, 2014 RECEIVED CALL FROM CHRYSLER REPRESENTATIVE STATING THAT THE HITCH INSTALLED DID NOT QUALIFY FOR REIMBURSEMENT. PER REPRESENTATIVE THE HITCH HAD TO BE AN OMG VS. THE HITCH INSTALLED BY PRIVATE PROFESSIONALS. VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH CHRYSLER AND APPEARS THEY HAVE NO DESIRE TO MINIMIZE POTENTIAL DANGERS IN THEIR VEHICLES EVEN WHEN A PURCHASER TAKES THE INITIATIVE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. *JS

ON 7/2/2013 I BOUGHT TWO TIRES:GOODYEAR P235/65R17 103H AMAX AT SAM'S CLUB, AND OTHER TWO ON 4/16/2013.AFTER DRIVING LESS THAT 5,000 MILES ON THESE TIRES, COMING ON I95 AT NIGHT AT A SPEED OF 65 MILES MY TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON AND TWO MINUTES LATER MY CRV JEEP LIBERTY 2007 STARTED TO ZIGZAG. AFTER GAINING CONTROL OF THE CAR I STOP TO THE RIGHT OF THE HWY AND TO MY DISBELIEF MY RIGHT REAR TIRE HAD DETREAD COMPLETELY. I FEEL MY LIFE WAS SPARED, THAT IS THE REASON FOR MY COMPLAINT.
