TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP PATRIOT. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO DECREASE THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED HOWEVER, THE WHEELS TO LOCKED UP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SPUN OUT OF CONTROL AND STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND DRIVEN TO THE RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. NEITHER A DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000.
I HAVE HAD THE WHEEL SPEED SENSORS AND OTHER ASSOCIATED PARTS AS TO WHY MY ABS LIGHT IS ON AND ALL THAT'S LEFT IS THE ABS MODULE. I KNOW OTHER PATRIOT OWNERS THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND IT AFFECTS THE DRIVING ON MY VEHICLE. SEEMS LIKE MY BRAKES AREN'T WORKING QUITE RIGHT WHEN I DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL.
THIS PAST MONTH OF DECEMBER '17 MY 08 JEEP PATRIOT 4X4 WITH ONLY 70,000 MILEAGE HAD 3 REPAIRS USING DEALER PARTS ONLY. [XXX] E-MAIL [XXX] PHONE [XXX] 1. REPLACED FUEL TANK. COULD NOT PUMP GAS INTO IT DUE TO VENTING ISSUE. REPLACED WITH DEALER TANK. VENT HOSES WOULD NOT ALLOW AIR PASSAGE. $800 2. REPLACED ABS EPS SYSTEM. $1,300 3. REPLACED ALTERNATOR. $400 NO RECALL ALTHOUGH SIGNIFICANT SIMILAR PROBLEMS NOTED ON LINE WITH JEEP PRODUCT. PLEASE HELP! HAD TO COMPLETE REPAIRS TO AVOID BEING STRANDED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ABS MODULE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,300.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2008 JEEP PATRIOT LIMITED DOWN THE STREET AND HIT A POT HOLE AND WITH IN SECONDS IT SOUNDED LIKE A FLAT TIRE. I PULLED INTO THE CLOSEST PARKING LOT AND GOT OUT THERE WAS NO FLAT TRIED TO DRIVE IT AND THE PARKING BRAKE WAS LOCKED I TOOK THE BRAKES APART AND THE PARKING BRAKE ON THE ONE SIDE COMPLETELY FELL OUT IN MY HANDS. THE BRAKE CLIPS RIPPED OUT OF THE DUST COVER AND THE ADJUSTER FELL INTO TO THE DRUM AND LOCKED THE BRAKES UP. LUCKILY I WAS ONLY DOING 30 WHEN IT HAPPENS AND SLOWED DOWN OTHER WISE IF I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY I COULD ONLY IMAGINE WHAT WOULD OF HAPPENED.
MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION IN A 45 MPH ZONE WHEN, TWICE TODAY, THE BRAKES ON MY 2008 JEEP PATRIOT SANK TO THE FLOOR AND BRAKING WAS SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED. I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TO PUMP THE BRAKES TO GET THEM TO REGAIN PRESSURE AFTER LETTING OFF THE PEDAL; BRAKES WORKED ON SECOND ATTEMPT. LATER DOWN THE ROAD THE FAILURE OCCURRED A SECOND TIME. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO PUMP THE BRAKES TO BUILD PRESSURE, IT WAS UNNECESSARY ... THE BRAKES WORKED ON SECOND ATTEMPT. MY VEHICLE DID NOT DISPLAY ANY WARNING INDICATORS AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE; NEITHER THE BRAKE LIKE, ABS LIGHT, OR ANY OTHER LAMP ON THE DASH WAS ILLUMINATED WHEN THE BRAKES FAILED. USUALLY IN THE RAIN, MY PATRIOT SUFFERS FROM A STUTTERING AND STALLING ISSUE THAT IS REPORTED BY MANY JEEP PATRIOT OWNERS, AND HAS NOT BEEN SOLVED DUE TO THE IRREGULARITY OF THE PROBLEM. A DIRECT CAUSE FOR THE ISSUE IS UNKNOWN AND CANNOT BE IDENTIFIED BY THE DEALERSHIP OR MY REGULAR MECHANIC.
THE FIRST TIME I HAD THE JEEP IN FOR REPAIR 4 TIMES MAKING A NOISE IN THE BACK BRAKES THAT WAS FRIDAY THE 6/20/2014 AND AGAIN TODAY WITH NOISE IN THE FRONT BRAKES THEY TOLD ME AT MONRO MUFFLER HERE IN HERKIMER NEWYORK 13350 THAT THERE ISN'T ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES IN THE FRONT BUT THEY STILL ARE RUBBING AFTER LEAVING THERE I WENT TO A STORE A LITTLE DOWN THE ROAD AND THE ENGINE LIGHT COME ON THEY TELL ME IT ONLY THE GAS CAP I JUST GOT THIS CAR 6/13/20014 THE CAR SALES WAS HERE IN HERKIMER KAMART PARKING LOT VISION IS THE NAME OF THE CAR DEALER MY TOTAL FOR THIS CAR IS $12,697.92 I WANT THEM TO TAKE THIS CAR BACK I DON'T WANT IT PLEASE DO SOMETHING FOR ME THANK YOU *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP PATRIOT 4X4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKES FAILED WHILE APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION TRAVELING 25 MPH. THE BRAKES DID NOT RESPOND CAUSING THE CONTACT TO ENTER THE INTERSECTION AND CRASH INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO DEFECTS FOUND WITHIN THE BRAKING SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 38,637.
2008 JEEP PATRIOT 5 SPEED MANUALS ARE HAVING CLUTCH RELATED ISSUES CAUSED MY CLUTCH MASTER OR SLAVE CYLNDER FAILURES. THE VEHICLE SUDDNELY STOPS OR NOT ABLE TO CHANGE GEAR WHILE DRIVING. I WAS LUCKY THAT I HAD THAT HAPPEN WHILE I WAS IN MY PARKING. THE CLUTCH RESERVOR IS SHARED WITH BRAKE AND CLUTCH. THERE ARE SO MANY 2008 PATRIOT OWNERS WHO ARE HAVING SAME PROBLEMS. IN ADDITION, WHEN EITHER CLUTCH OR BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER FAILS, BRAKE FAILS TOO. I HAD TWO ACCIDENTES EARLIER WHEN BRAKES DIDN'T WORK. I TOOK MY 2008 PATROT TO DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONSIDER AS WEAR-TEAR ITEM, BUT IS IS NOT. THE CLUTCH PLATE IS WEAR-TEAR NOT A CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER. CHRYSLER JEEP DEALERS ARE CHEATING CONSUMERS BY NOT HONORING LIFETIME POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. PLEASE READ THIS JEEP PATRIOT FORUM TO FIND SO MANY LIKE ME HAVING SAME ISSUES.
