OUR 2008 JEEP PATRIOT 4 X 4 HAS AT TIMES CUT OFF COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING. WHEN WE WERE GETTING READY TO TAKE IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC, WE HAD AN EVEN SCARIER THING HAPPEN. BOTH REAR WHEELS ARE RUBBING WHEEL WELLS WHICH MEANS SOMETHING HAS RUSTED THROUGH IN THE SUB FRAME OR CONTROL ARMS. WE ARE 25 MILES FROM OUR MECHANIC SO NOW VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE TOWED INTO TOWN TO EVEN BE CHECKED OUT. WE NEED TO FIND OUT IF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR RUST AND CORROSION WILL COVER OUR VEHICLE. THERE ARE CURRENTLY 280,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE WHICH HAS BEEN HEAVILY DRIVEN IN A "SALT BELT" STATE OF MARYLAND FOR WORK DUTIES.
RUSTED SUBFRAME
ROTTED SUBFRAME. THIS IS UNSAFE! WE PURCHASED THIS CAR FOR MY 16 YEAR OLD AND THE SUBFRAME IS RUSTED THROUGH AND CRACKED! WHY IS THE YEAR AFTER RECALLED AND NOT THIS YEAR?
WE RECENTLY PURCHASED 2008 JEEP PATRIOT AND WAS TOLD BY A MECHANIC THAT THE SUBFRAME IS RUSTED THROUGH. WE WERE TOLD THAT IT WAS MANUFACTURE DEFECT OF THE AC DRAIN RUNS ON OR THROUGH THE SUBFRAME WHICH ACCELERATES THE RUSTING PROCESS. THERE WAS A 10 YEAR 150,000 MILES EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THIS PART WHICH HAS EXPIRED BUT WE WERE UNAWARE OF THIS AS IT WAS BEFORE WE BOUGHT THE JEEP. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE THAT WAS ONLY THIS PAST FEBRUARY (FOR THE 10 YEARS) BUT WE STILL ONLY HAVE 122,000 MILES ON THE JEEP. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP AND THEY WILL NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY, WE WERE GIVE A QUOTE OF $942.76 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY ALSO TOLD US WE COULD CALL JEEP CARES AT 1-800-992-1997 AND THEY ALSO SAID THEY CAN'T HELP US. WE ARE WAITING FOR A SUPERVISOR TO CALL US BACK FROM JEEP CARES BUT THAT HASN'T HAPPEN EITHER. CLEARLY IN READING THE FORUMS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. WE BOUGHT THIS JEEP FOR OUR 16 YEAR OLD SON AND SAFETY IS A MAJOR CONCERN FOR US. WE WANT JEEP TO WORK WITH US IS COVERING THE COST OF THIS SAFETY ISSUE. PLEASE HELP....
AFTER FUELING TANK CAR WILL STALL AND OR SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING . LOSS OF POWER AND STEERING WILL DO THIS 2 TO 3 TIMES DRIVING AFTER FUELING THEN WILL HESITATE WHILE DRIVING HAPPENS AFTER EVERY FILL . LASTS 1 TO 2 DAYS. JUST GOT THIS CAR USED FOUND ONLINE HAPPENS OFTEN POSS DUE TO FAULTY TANK ROLLOVER VALVE
AFTER FUELING THE JEEP IT STALLS WHEN THE NEXT IDLE OR TWO OCCURS. FOR EXAMPLE, AFTER FUELING, THE JEEP IS DRIVEN AND STALLS AT THE FIRST STOP LIGHT. SOMETIMES IT OCCURS WHEN TRYING TO PULL AWAY FROM THE GAS STATION. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AS THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP AND YOU HAVE TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND RESTART IT IN TRAFFIC. IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN FUELING THE TANK TO FULL. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC FROM THE GAS STATION. IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME THE TANK IS FILLED UP.
MY 2008 JEEP PATRIOT KEEPS STALLING AND IS GREAT MECHANICAL CONDITION .THE CAR KEEPS STALLING WHILE IN PARK AND DRIVING WITHOUT WARNING WHICH IS A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION.HAVE MECHANIC TRYING TO FIGURE IT OUT AND HE CAN'T .SEEN OTHER PEOPLE WITH SAME PROBLEMS BUT NO ANSWERS. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THIS ISSUE.
3 DAYS AFTER MY 10 YEAR DRIVETRAIN INSPECTION,I DROVE FROM CLEVELAND OHH TO RENO NEVADA. THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEATED APPROX. 10 TIMES REQUIRING ME TO PULL OFF IINTERSTATE-80 AND WAIT FOR IT TO COOL. TRUCKS OCCASIONALLY WEAVE INTO THE BERM WHERE I WAS PARKED CAUSING ALOT OF WORRY. TO KEEP FROM OVERHEATING I HAD TO KEEP THE RPMS UNDER 2500. THIS LIMITED MY TOP SPEED ON LEVEL GRADE TO APPROX. 65 MPH IN 80 MPH SPEED LIMIT AND UNDER 50 MPH GOING UPHILL. NEEDLESS TO SAY A LOT OF TRUCKS CAME FLYING UP BEHIND ME TO PASS. THE JEEP DEALERSHIP IN RENO DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS OVER FILLED ( 65ML AT 100DEGREES VS. SPEC OF 25-35 ML.).THE DEALER THAT DID THE INSPECTION IN CLEVELAND BEFORE THE TRIP SAID THEY DID NOT OVERFILL IT.. THE TRANSMISSION HAS OVERHEATED ONLY 3 TIMES IN THE PREVIOUS TEN YEARS. JEEP IS REFUSING TO COMPENSATE ME FOR THE $200 DIAGNOSTIC FEE AND $122 FOR A CAR RENTAL WHILE IT WAS KEPT OVERNITE AT THE RENO DEALERSHIP. MY REGULAR MECHANIC DOES NOT DO TRANSMISSIONS...SAYS THEY ARE TRICKY. SO THE ONLY WAY IT GOT OVERFILLED WAS BY JEEP AT ASSEMBLY. THERE HAS ALWAYS BEEN A HIGH PITCH WHRRR WHEN IT GETS HOT. THE 2300 MILE DRIVE HOME (AFTER IT WAS DRAINED TO THE PROPER LEVEL) WAS UNEVENTFUL. I TRIED TO OVERHEAT IT BUT IT DID NOT. THERE WAS NO WHRRRING..
THE FORWARD 'K' FRAME THAT SUPPORTS THE ENGINE AND LOWER SUSPENSION HAS TO A POINT THAT IT IS NO LONGER SAFE. I CAN USE A SMALL HAMMER AND KNOCK HOLES IN IT. I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS, BUT WHEN I STARTED LOOKING AROUND IT APPEARS THAT MANY OTHER HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. IT APPEARS THAT THIS WAS COVERED IN A 2007 RECALL, BUT NOT THE 2008. I REPORTED THIS THE DAY I FOUND IT WHILE DOING MAINTENANCE ON MY SON-IN-LAW'S JEEP.
MY 2008 JEEP PATRIOT WAS PARKED ON MY DRIVEWAY (NO TREES AROUND TO CAUSE A CLOG) FOR A MONTH, WHILE ON VACATION. WHEN I CAME BACK, THE TRUNK AND THE BACK SEAT FLOORS WERE FULL OF MOLD DUE TO WATER LEAKING THRU THE BACK DOME LIGHT. THEN AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I LEARNED THAT THE LEAKING DOME LIGHT IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THE 2007 AND 2008 JEEP PATRIOTS. UNFORTUNATELY FOR ME IT HAS BECOME A BIGGER PROBLEM THAN JUST A LEAK BECAUSE MY JEEP IS NOW FULL OF MOLD AND CANNOT NOT BE DRIVEN FOR THE MEANTIME AS IT IS A HAZARD FOR MY CHILDREN HEALTH.
TIPM NEEDS REPLACED. RIGHT SIGNAL LIGHT DIDN'T WORK PROPERLY, AC DOESN'T BLOW COLD AIR. I HAD THE AC CHECKED, IT'S FINE. IT'S THE TIPM. AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON CONSTANT. THE SYSTEM IS SHUT OFF. ALL THIS B/C OF THE TIPM. IT STARTED TO ACT UP WHILE IN MOTION.
MY VEHICLE STALLS EVERY TIME AFTER A GAS FILL UP AND HAS BEEN HAPPENING EVERY SINGLE TIME FOR ABOUT A YEAR. THE WHEEL LOCKS AND THE CAR CUTS OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS PROBLEM AND HAPPENS 100% OF THE TIME AFTER I PUT GAS IN MY CAR. I DID RESEARCH AND IT IS CLEAR THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM (SEE ATTACHED LINK) AND THERE IS NO SOLUTION FOR IT EXCEPT FOR A NEW TANK. I DO NOT THINK IT'S RIGHT TO NOT RECALL THIS. IT IS EXPENSIVE AND NOT ALL OF US CAN AFFORD TO FIX IT OR BUY A NEW CAR THUS PUTTING OUR LIVES AND INNOCENT DRIVERS' LIVES IN DANGER. PLEASE RECALL THIS. ENGINE STALLS AFTER FUELING TANK. DURING ACCELERATION OUT OF GAS STATION, CAR JERKS AS IT SEEMS THE AIR/FUEL RATIO IS MESSED UP. CAR STALLS WHEN SITTING AT LIGHT OR WITHIN A COUPLE MILES FROM THE STATION AT IDLE SPEED. I'VE RESORTED TO SHIFTING NEUTRAL AND REVVING ENGINE HIGHER TO COUNTERACT THE STALL. ONE INSTANCE WAS KNOCKING/ATTEMPTING TO STALL SHORTLY AFTER PULLING FROM GAS STATION, THEN OPERATED FINE ON HIGHWAY, BUT WHEN EXITING THE JEEP STALLED AND LOST ALL POWER TO THE SYSTEM (POWER STEERING AND BRAKE BOOSTER). WAITED A MINUTE AT LIGHT, THEN RESTARTED AND RAN FINE. DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THERE LIKELY IS A PROBLEM WITH THE VALVE TO THE VAPOR CANISTER AND IT SOUNDS LIKE THERE IS LIQUID FUEL GETTING IN. HE HAD A PROMPT ANSWER FOR ME, SO IT SEEMS AS IF HE'S ANSWERED THE QUESTION BEFORE WITH OTHER OWNERS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP PATRIOT 4X4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A STATE INSPECTION SITE, BUT FAILED DUE TO SEVERE RUST OF THE SUBFRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JIM SHORKEY NORTH HILLS CHRYSLER JEEP (7670 MCKNIGHT RD, PITTSBURGH, PA 15237) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SEVERELY RUSTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 136,000.
AFTER FILLING UP THE GAS TANK THE VEHICLE JERKS WILDLY, SEVERAL TIMES THE VEHICLE HAS SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY AND ALMOST CAUSED A WRECK, I AM TERRIFIED I'LL END UP CAUSING AN ACCIDENT OR POSSIBLY KILLING SOMEONE. THE ISSUE MY MECHANIC SAID IS IN THE VAPOR/FUEL SEPARATOR VALVE THAT GOES TO THE CHARCOAL BOX.
ANYTIME I FILL MY GAS TANK COMPLETELY, THE ENGINE STALLS WHILE I AM DRIVING, WITHIN LESS THAN A MILE FROM THE GAS STATION. STEERING WHEEL LOCKS AND I HAVE TO TURN OFF THE CAR, WAIT 10-20 SECONDS, THEN RESTART THE CAR IN ORDER TO CONTINUE DRIVING.
I WENT TO GET MY TIRE ALIGNMENT AND I WAS TOLD THE SUB FRAME IS SEVERELY RUSTED. COMMON UNSAFE ISSUE WITH JEEP. RECALLS ON 2007 BUT NOTHING ON THE 2008. COST WILL BE ABOUT $900+.
I PURCHASED THIS USED JEEP PATRIOT ON MAY 24, 2017. I BECAME AWARE OF THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM ON FIRST ATTEMPT LEAVE ON VACATION. I HAD BEEN DRIVING NONSTOP 45 MILES ON INCLINED ROADWAYS WHEN THE LIGHT FOR "TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING". HAD TO IMMEDIATELY TURN AROUND TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE SOLUTION WAS CHANGE FLUID CHARGE OF $437.00 WHILE ON VACATION THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. WENT BACK INTO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID A FILTER WAS BENT AND REPLACED IN AUGUST 2017. SINCE THEN ANYTIME DRIVE ON VERY STEEP AND INCLINED HIGHWAYS NONSTOP THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT COMES ON. MY LAST DRIVE ON MAY 19, THE HIGHWAY IS VERY MOUNTAINOUS, STEEP. AFTER FIRST CURVY MILES OF TRIP I NOTICE THE LIGHT. I PULLED OVER TO WAIT FOR CAR COOL OFF. TRYING TO GET TO MY DR.APPT HAD TO PULLOVER TWO MORE TIMES. LAST TIME THE CAR STALL. AFTER A COUPLE OF HOURS IT MOVED.
AFTER FILLING MY TANK, EVERYTIME I LEAVE THE GAS STATION THE ENGINE SPUTTERS AND WILL STALL. LUCKILY I'M ABLE TO SOMETIMES GET OVER ON TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BEFORE BEING IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. DURING THE WINTER MONTHS WHEN IT IS COLD OUTSIDE, I AM ONLY ABLE TO PUT IN A FEW CENTS AT A TIME. IT CAN TAKE OVER 20 MINUTES TO SLOWLY FILL UP THE GAS TANK. MAX IT WILL FILL IS A FEW CENTS AT A TIME BEFORE YOU HAVE TO RELEASE THE HANDLE AND THEN PRESS IT EVER SO LIGHTLY TO FILL UP THE NEXT PART. THE ENGINE WILL OFTEN SPUTTER AS IT FEELS LIKE IT IS GOING TO QUIT RUNNING AS I'M DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY OR INTERSTATE SIMILAR TO WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOU FILL UP YOUR TANK. THE VA THE ONLY TIME THE JEEP IS STATIONARY IS WHEN I'M FILLING IT UP OR AFTER IT DIES AFTER A FUEL PHILIP. THE VEHICLE IS ALWAYS IN MOTION EITHER IN THE CITY HIGHWAY CITY ROAD WHEN IT KILLS AFTER FILLING UP. WHEN IT SPUTTERS AND PILLS AFTER FILLING UP YOU ARE UNABLE TO USE YOUR WHEEL AS IT LOCKS UP, VERY DANGEROUS. MY LIFE AND MY FAMILY'S LIFE IS AT RISK.
TIPM problems causing problems with wipers, blinkers. Sometimes can't turn wipers on or off. Passenger side blinkers fast blink. Changed all bulbs but didn't fix. When lights are turned on passenger blinkers fail to work.
AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WITHIN A MILE WHEN IDLING. IT DOES IT AT RED LIGHTS AND AT LOW SPEEDS.
EVERYTIME RIGHT AFTER I FILL UP MY 2008 JEEP PATRIOT (CAR IS SHUT OFF WHILE FUELING) THE JEEP EITHER BUCKS ME BACK AND FORTH LIKE IT'S A MANUAL GETTING STUCK BETWEEN GEARS FOR ABOUT 1 MINUTE (IT'S AN AUTOMATIC) OR IT STALLS AND DIES (CAR SHUTS OFF). SO FAR WHEN THE JEEP DIES IT HAS TURNED BACK ON.. THIS HAPPENS NORMALLY UNDER A HALF MILE AFTER THE JEEP HAS BEEN FILLED UP WITH GAS TO THE FILL MARK. THE CAR IS IN MOTION WHEN THIS OCCURS AND IT USUALLY OCCURS ON CITY STREETS SEEING AS MOST GAS STATIONS ARE IN TOWN, BUT THIS HAS OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS AT A STATION LOCATED RIGHT OFF OF THE HIGHWAY.
TERRIBLE CRUNCHY SOUND. THE JEEP DOES NOT FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE. LOUD CRUNCH AND CRACKING SOUNDS WHEN CAR IS BARELY EVEN MOVING AND I TRY TO TURN EITHER DIRECTION. A MECHANIC SAID THE CROSSMEMBER IS RUSTED THROUGH. (HE SAID THE JEEP NEEDED TO CO TO THE JUNK YARD)
IN AUGUST 2017, THE VEHICLE UNDERWENT MAINTENANCE WITH NO REPORTED PROBLEMS OR CONCERNS. IN MAY 2018, DRIVING FELT UNSTABLE. NEW TIRES WERE NEEDED, SO AN APPOINTMENT WAS MADE ALONG WITH AN ALIGNMENT TO COVER BASES. THE MECHANIC CALLED AND REPORTED THAT TIRES COULD NOT SAFELY BE PUT ON, DUE TO CORROSION ALONG THE CAR'S SUBFRAME (AKA CROSSMEMBER); THE MECHANIC DEMONSTRATED BY SHOWING HOW EASILY PERFORATION OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO A DEALERSHIP; WHILE THE SUBFRAME WAS COVERED BY WARRANTY, THE CORROSION WAS SEVERE ENOUGH THAT BALDING TIRES COULD NOT BE REPLACED WITHOUT EXTENSIVE PARTS REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE IS PRIMARILY DRIVEN FROM ONE GARAGE TO ANOTHER, IN VARIOUS CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY BEEN ON SEVERAL DIRT ROADS ROUGHLY TWO YEARS AGO, BUT MAJORITY OF DRIVING WAS ON HIGHWAYS. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED USED IN 2016. SPECIFIC OCCURRENCE AND ONSET OF CORROSION TO SUBFRAME NOT KNOWN.
FRONT END CROSS MEMBER COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT AND AXLE NUTS AND LUG NUTS FROZEN IN PLACE. M JUST TOTAL RUST IN FRONT END RESULTING IN FRAILER TO BE DERIVABLE. I WAS ON THE ROAD AND THE FRONT END WOBBLED AND I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED HOME
MY 2008 JEEP PATRIOT HESITATES, SPUTTERS, AND STALLS A FEW MINUTE AFTER I FILL IT UP. IF I DON'T FILL IT ALL THE WAY, IT DOES NOT STALL (AND I NEVER TOP-OFF WHEN FILLING). I HAVE STARTED THE PRACTICE OF ONLY FILLING 3/4 OR PULLING OVER IN THE GAS STATION TO LET THE CAR STALL AT IDLE BEFORE PROCEEDING. WHEN I FIRST NOTICED THE ISSUE A FEW MONTHS AGO, IT STALLED ON ME IN TRAFFIC AFTER LEAVING THE FUELING STATION. THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS. MY MECHANIC AT THE DEALER TOLD ME TODAY HE BELIEVES THERE IS A BAD LIQUID/VAPOR VALVE ON THE GAS TANK CAUSING GAS TO ENTER AN EXHAUST LINE LEADING TO THE CARBON CANISTER, AND THAT A FULL GAS TANK REPLACEMENT IS NEEDED TO REPLACE THIS BAD VALVE. HE ALSO OFFERED, THAT I COULD JUST CONTINUE TO ONLY FILL THE TANK 3/4 AND SHOULD BE FINE. AT $2,000 TO REPLACED THE TANK, I MAY NEED TO CONSIDER HAVING THIS WORK DONE BY A NON-CHRYSLER SHOP? I FOUND THIS DISCUSSION ONLINE TODAY, AND EVERYONE IS HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AS ME (WITH SOME HAVING DETAILED ACCOUNTS OF MAKING CLAIMS WITH THE NHTSA). PLEASE TAKE FIVE MINUTES TO REVIEW. THIS SEEMS LIKE A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE, AND I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING IT! I BELIEVE I HAVE TAKE GREAT CARE OF MY JEEP, BUT NEVER ANTICIPATED THIS ISSUE, AND THERE IS NO INDICATION FROM A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT THIS PROBLEM IS BEING MONITORED BY THE SYSTEM. I THINK I ALSO OBSERVED THE STEERING WHEEL LOCK WHEN THIS OCCURRED, OR AT LEAST BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO OPERATE. MY JEEP HAS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION.
AFTER REFUELING MY PATRIOT, THE CAR WILL SPUTTER, LURCH, AND OCCASIONALLY STALL. THE SYMPTOMS ONLY OCCUR AFTER REFUELING WITHIN THE FIRST FEW MILES AND THEN BECOMES A NONISSUE UNTIL I REFUEL AGAIN. I HADN'T HAD ANY ISSUE OVER THE PAST COUPLE REFUELINGS AND THIS EVENING (3/6/2018) THE PROBLEM RESURFACED AS I ENTERED TRAFFIC AND MY CAR STALLED AND STEERING LOST. I ENDED UP STRADDLING THE CENTER TURN LANE WITH A PORTION OF THE CAR HANGING IN THE LEFT LANE OF BOTH TRAFFIC DIRECTIONS. I WAS ABLE TO FINALLY GET IT RESTARTED AND REPOSITIONED SO IT NO LONGER WAS AN OBSTACLE. AFTER ENTERING TRAFFIC AGAIN, IT STALLED ONE MORE TIME WITHIN A MILE AND THEN OPERATED WITHOUT INCIDENT. THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED ON AND OFF OVER 8 MONTHS BUT HAD NOT PREVIOUSLY RESULTED IN HAZARDOUS ROAD CONDITIONS FOR MYSELF AND OTHERS. IN REVIEWING FORUMS FOR CHRYSLER/JEEP OWNERS, THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE WITH FCA VEHICLES.
THE K FRAME IS ROTTED OUT, THEY SAID THERE WAS A RECALL BUT WHEN I TOOK IT UP I CAN'T FIND ONE.
EVERY TIME I FILL UP THE FUEL TANK AT A GAS STATION AND THEN DRIVE OFF, THE CAR - AFTER BEING IN MOTION WILL UNEXPECTEDLY STALL. IT'S USUALLY ABOUT 20-30 SECONDS AFTER DRIVING AWAY FROM THE GAS STATION THAT THE ENGINE STALLS. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT A STOPLIGHT, ENTERING A BUSY HIGHWAY AND ALSO JUST WAITING IN THE GAS STATION PARKING LOT. THIS IS DANGEROUS!
TAKADA RECALL VEHICLE SHUTTING DOWN WHILE IN REVERSE WHILE DROPPING MY DAUGHTER OFF. ALL DASH LIGHTS WERE ON AND RADIO STILL PLAYING. NEXT DAY, CAR SHUT OFF IN DRIVE WHILE SITTING AT A BUSY INTERSECTION. BOTH TIMES PLACE VEHICLE IN PARK AND RESTARTED. VERY UNSAFE WITH CHILDREN.
AFTER REFUELING THE PATRIOT I DROVE APPROXIMATELY 1/4 MILE AND THE VEHICLE BUCKED, SHUDDERED AND SHUT OFF. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED IN PLACE AND SINCE THERE WAS NO VACUUM PRESSURE THE BREAKS WE'RE NOT VERY EFFECTIVE. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER PUTTING IT IN NUETRAL WHILE ON THE ENTRANCE RAMP TO AN INTERSTATE. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAD HAPPENED AND UNTIL NOW I DID NOT KNOW THEY INCIDENTS WERE CONNECTED. THE FIRST TIME IT OCCURRED I HAD JUST REFUELED AND WAS PULLING UP AT A STOP LIGHT AND IT TURNED OFF WHILE I WAS STOPPING FOR THE LIGHT.
MY AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN TURNING ON AND OFF FOR OVER A YEAR. I HAD IT CHECKED OUT WHEN IT FIRST CAME ON AND THEY WANTED OVER $600 TO FIX THE CLOCK SPRING. DUE TO NOT HAVING FUNDS TO FIX IT, IT'S STILL UNDERGOING. THE LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF ALL THROUGHOUT THE COURSE OF DRIVING. I HAVE READ SEVERAL REVIEWS OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES FOR YEARS NOW SO WHY HASN'T IT BEEN RECALLED YET.
MY AIRBAG HAS BEEN ON FOR ABOUT A MONTH NOW AND I CALLED THE JEEP DEALERSHIP CLOSEST TO ME AND THEY SAID THAT MINE SPECIFICALLY IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. WE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO BE PAYING HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS WHEN MORE THAN ONE MODEL IS AFFECTED AND I HAVE NOT GOTTEN IT FIXED YET DUE TO NOT HAVING THE FUNDS. IT GOES ON AND OFF THROUGHOUT THE DRIVE. IT WILL ALWAYS COME ON WHEN I START THE JEEP AND THEN SOMETIMES IT FLASHES ON AND OFF AND THEN GOES OFF FOR A MILE AND COMES BACK ON.THE CODE COMING UP ON OUR READER IS A BAD SPRING.

REPLACED ALTERNATOR. $400 NO RECALL ALTHOUGH SIGNIFICANT SIMILAR PROBLEMS NOTED ON LINE WITH JEEP PRODUCT. PLEASE HELP! HAD TO COMPLETE REPAIRS TO AVOID BEING STRANDED. 2008 JEEP PATRIOT STALLS SHORTLY AFTER FILLING UP THE FUEL TANK. BOUGHT IT USED, AND ON THE FIRST FILL UP, GOT ABOUT .5 MILES BEFORE ENGINE STALLED. ON MY SECOND FILL UP, ON DECEMBER 29, 2017, IT STALLED AGAIN AFTER FILLING THE FUEL TANK AND DRIVING IN MODERATE TRAFFIC. AGAIN AT APPROXIMATELY .5 MILES. THIS WAS MORE SERIOUS AS IT WAS IN TRAFFIC AND COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT. THIS WAS MORE A CONCERN FOR ME AS MY FAMILY WAS IN THE VEHICLE AS WELL.
OUR JEEP PATRIOT THIS PAST YEAR HAD BEEN STALLING AFTER GETTING GAS. THIS HAPPENS NOW AFTER EVERY TIME WE GET GAS. IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW MUCH 1/4, 1/2, OR FULL TANK. WHAT MAKES THIS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, IS THAT IS STALLS AT ANY TIME, PARKED OR DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. WITH NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AS A WARNING, MY DAUGHTER PUT GAS IN APPROXIMATELY A MONTH AGO AND AFTER AN HOUR DRIVING, IT STALLED ON A BUSY STREET TRAVELING AT 55 MPH, WHICH INTERRUPTED THE STEERING AS IT DECELERATED ON A HIGHWAY. AFTER TOWING TO A LOCAL FIRESTONE AUTO CENTER WE WERE INFORMED THAT THERE WERE TOO MANY DIAGNOSTIC CODES FIRING OFF TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. SINCE THEN MY HUSBAND GASSED UP THE PATRIOT AND IT STALLED AT A BUSY INTERSECTION JUST PULLING OUT OF THE STATION. HE MANAGED TO DRIVE ON BACK ROADS AVOIDING TRAFFIC WHERE IT HAD REPEATEDLY STALLED. HE THEN RAN THE PATRIOT FOR AN HOUR IN MY DRIVEWAY WHERE IT STALLED ANOTHER 10 TIMES IN AN HOUR. HE CONTINUED TO RUN THE PATRIOT ANOTHER HOUR TILL THE STALLING STOPPED. I AM NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO GETTING GAS AGAIN, HOWEVER I HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS PROCEDURE TO PREVENT A FAMILY MEMBER FROM GETTING INVOLVED IN A FATAL ACCIDENT.
AFTER FUELING UP JEEP, AND DRIVE FOR LESS THAN A MILE JEEP SHUTS OFF I HAVE TO STOP AND RESTART THE JEEP. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FUEL UP THE JEEP, WENT TO DEALERSHIP AND PAID TO HAVE FUEL INJECTION CLEANED AFTER A TWO DAYS FUELED THE JEEP PROBLEM CONTINUES.
GAS TANK: HE PROBLEM IS FROM THE FUEL TANK ROLLOVER VALVE. YOU CAN ONLY PUMP $5-10 WORTH OF GAS. KEEPS STOPPING AND DOESN'T ALLOW YOU TO CONTINUOUSLY PUMP FUEL INTO THE TANK

WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR A YEARLY SAFETY INSPECTION, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE TECHNICIAN THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO CORROSION ON THE REAR SUBFRAME. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO CHARLIE'S MOTOR MALL (465 WESTERN AVE, AUGUSTA, ME 04330, PHONE NUMBER: (207) 622-7327) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS CORRODED AND NEEDED ADDITIONAL PARTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY, BUT NOT THE INSTALLED PART. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 194,491.
HAVE HAD MY JEEP FOR 6 YEARS ITS ALWAYS STALLING I TOOK IT TO JEEP CHRYSLER DODGE, FIRESTONE NOBODY CAN FIGURE OUT WHATS WRONG; IT ACTUALLY TURNS ITSELF OFF AND NOBODY KNOWS WHY. FILLING GAS TANK TO TOP (FILL VALVE TURNS OFF AT PUMP) WILL CAUSE JEEP TO SPUTTER AND STALL WHEN DRIVING OUT OF THE GAS STATION. STALLING WILL MOST OFTEN HAPPEN WHEN ACCELERATING OUT OF THE GAS STATION LOT INTO TRAFFIC. CAR WON'T START AGAIN UNTIL TURNING THE KEY COMPLETELY TO THE OFF POSITION AND THEN STARTING AGAIN. AFTER THAT, CAR WILL OPERATE NORMALLY. IF THE GAS TANK IS NOT FILLED TILL THE GAS AUTOMATICALLY TURNS OFF, THE JEEP WILL RUN JUST FINE. IF LEFT RUNNING A BIT BEFORE ACCELERATING OUT, THEN SEEMS TO BE FINE. NEED TO BURN OFF SOME GAS FROM THE TOP. I'VE HAD THIS ISSUE BEFORE (5 YEARS AGO, 2012) AND SOLUTION WAS TO REPLACE THE GAS TANK. NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THAT WORKED FOR A BIT, BUT IT IS OCCURRING AGAIN. HAVE HAD IT DIAGNOSED WITH DEALERSHIP AS SAME PROBLEM WITH GAS TANK AND A VALVE ON THE TANK.
TURN CAR ON A.TURN LIGHTS ON DASH FLASHES 4 TIMES THEN NO DASH LIGHTS OR TAILGHTSALL OTHER GAUGES WORK
AFTER REFILLING THE GAS TANK THE CAR WILL JERK SUDDENLY AND OR STALL WHILE DRIVING. THE PROBLEM WILL STOP AFTER THE CAR DRIVES FOR A MILE OR SO. THIS WILL HAPPEN WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION OR HALTED (AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR BEFORE PULLING INTO TRAFFIC). IN PARTICULAR I HAVE BEEN PULLING INTO TRAFFIC AND HAD THE CAR NOT MOVE FORWARD OR SLOWLY ROLL FORWARD. I HAVE ALSO BEEN AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS, AND WHEN I PRESS THE ACCELERATOR THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE. THERE ARE NO WARNING LIGHTS BEFORE THE CAR STALLS/JERKS. AFTER THE CAR IS DRIVEN AROUND FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME THE STALLING AND JERKING DOES NOT OCCUR AGAIN. I HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR A YEAR AND AT FIRST DID NOT NOTICE ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE JERKING. HOWEVER, IT DID STALL SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THIS COMPLAINT.
I CAN ONLY PUMP SMALL AMOUNTS OF GAS INTO MY TANK BEFORE THE PUMP KICKS OFF AND I HAVE TO START AGAIN. ALSO, WHEN THE TANK IS AROUND 1/8 OR LESS FULL, THE JEEP RUNS VERY ROUGH AT ANY SPEED. WHEN OVER 1/4 TANK OF GAS, THE JEEP RUNS WELL.
IT WAS DRIVING FINE NOW MY JEEP DOESNT HAVE REVERSE AND IT ONLY GOES FORWARD BUT SLOWLY. MY JEEP ONLY HAS 40000 MILES ON IT, WHY HAS THE TRANSMISSION BROKEN SO FAST.

I START HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY AIRBAG IN MY JEEP LAST YEAR. I TOOK MY JEEP INTO MY LOCAL JEEP DEALER LAST YEAR. THE DEAL STATED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE AIRBAG. THE DEAL THAT I'M HAVING IS THAT SOMETIMES THE LIGHT WILL COME ON AND OFF WHILE I'M DRIVING. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND I SEE THAT THEIR IS A RECALL ON THIS NAME BRAND AIRBAG FOR THIS VEHICLE. I'M ASKING COULD YOU PLEASE ADD MY VEHICLE VIN NUMBER TO YOUR RECALL LIST THANK YOU.
ENTIRE SUBFRAME AND CROSSMEMBER RUSTED BEYOND REPAIR, NEEDS COMPLETE REPLACEMENT. I NOTICED AN ODD CLINKING SOUND WHEN DRIVING OVER EVEN THE SMALLEST OF BUMPS, OR WHEN TURNING. I TOOK IT IN TO HAVE THE BRAKES CHECKED AND WHEN THE MECHANIC LIFTED IT, I WAS TOLD THE ENTIRE UNDERSIDE WAS COVERED IN RUST! I HEARD OF THE CROSSMEMBER EXTENDED WARRANTY SO I TOOK IT TO MAC HAIK JEEP FOR A DIAGNOSIS, THEY TOLD ME 3 - 5K TO REPLACE ALL PARTS, THAT ONLY THE CROSSMEMBER WOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. THEY ADVISED ME TO BUY A NEW CAR.
