AFTER FILLING UP MY GAS TANK THIS MORNING, MY CAR SPUTTERED AND STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION IMMEDIATELY AFTER I LEFT GAS STATION. I WAS YIELDING TO TURN LEFT TO ENTER THE NORTHBOUND LANES OF I-69. I HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE FOR QUITE AWHILE NOW AND MY MECHANIC HASN'T BEEN ABLE TO FIND AN ISSUE SINCE IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN I FILL UP THE GAS TANK. I DECIDED THIS MORNING TO LOOK FOR OTHER JEEP OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND FOUND A FORUM THAT DATES BACK TO OVER 3 YEARS AGO WITH PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. APPARENTLY, THEIR FINDINGS HAVE LED TO THE GAS TANK NEEDING TO BE REPLACED IN PART TO A FAULTY PART THAT SITS ON/IN THE GAS TANK. IN THE PAST, I'VE HAD TO TIME TRAFFIC LIGHTS IN ORDER TO MAKE IT THROUGH WITHOUT STALLING BUT OBVIOUSLY THAT DIDN'T WORK TODAY. TYPICALLY, THIS IS ONLY AN ISSUE WHEN I'M DRIVING AT SLOWER SPEEDS OR IN STOP/GO TRAFFIC. ALSO, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP AND IS VERY HARD TO TURN TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC. OFTEN TIMES, THE JEEP DOESN'T START RIGHT AWAY. YOU HAVE TO REV THE ENGINE AND THEN PUT IN DRIVE QUICKLY AND TAKE OFF OR IT STALLS AGAIN. IN THE FORUM, SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE TRIED TO REPLACE PARTS FOR QUICK FIXES WITHOUT ANY SUCCESS. THIS SHOULD OBVIOUSLY BE SOMETHING THE CAR MAKERS SHOULD FIX WITHOUT PASSING THE COST ALONG TO THE OWNER.
AFTER FILLING UP GAS THE CAR TURNS OFF ENGINE THEN START IT UP AND TURNS OFF WHILE DRIVING. VERY DANGEROUS THERE HAS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS???!!! PLEASE I AM NOT SAFE DRIVING THIS. I JUST BOUGHT THIS JEEP A QEEK AGO. THIS HAPPENED 2X ALREADY.
AFTER FUELING THE JEEP IT STALLS WHEN THE NEXT IDLE OR TWO OCCURS. FOR EXAMPLE, AFTER FUELING, THE JEEP IS DRIVEN AND STALLS AT THE FIRST STOP LIGHT. SOMETIMES IT OCCURS WHEN TRYING TO PULL AWAY FROM THE GAS STATION. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AS THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP AND YOU HAVE TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND RESTART IT IN TRAFFIC. IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN FUELING THE TANK TO FULL. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC FROM THE GAS STATION. IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME THE TANK IS FILLED UP.
AFTER FILLING UP THE GAS TANK THE VEHICLE JERKS WILDLY, SEVERAL TIMES THE VEHICLE HAS SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY AND ALMOST CAUSED A WRECK, I AM TERRIFIED I'LL END UP CAUSING AN ACCIDENT OR POSSIBLY KILLING SOMEONE. THE ISSUE MY MECHANIC SAID IS IN THE VAPOR/FUEL SEPARATOR VALVE THAT GOES TO THE CHARCOAL BOX.
AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WITHIN A MILE WHEN IDLING. IT DOES IT AT RED LIGHTS AND AT LOW SPEEDS.
TERRIBLE CRUNCHY SOUND. THE JEEP DOES NOT FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE. LOUD CRUNCH AND CRACKING SOUNDS WHEN CAR IS BARELY EVEN MOVING AND I TRY TO TURN EITHER DIRECTION. A MECHANIC SAID THE CROSSMEMBER IS RUSTED THROUGH. (HE SAID THE JEEP NEEDED TO CO TO THE JUNK YARD)
FRONT END CROSS MEMBER COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT AND AXLE NUTS AND LUG NUTS FROZEN IN PLACE. M JUST TOTAL RUST IN FRONT END RESULTING IN FRAILER TO BE DERIVABLE. I WAS ON THE ROAD AND THE FRONT END WOBBLED AND I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED HOME
AFTER REFUELING THE PATRIOT I DROVE APPROXIMATELY 1/4 MILE AND THE VEHICLE BUCKED, SHUDDERED AND SHUT OFF. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED IN PLACE AND SINCE THERE WAS NO VACUUM PRESSURE THE BREAKS WE'RE NOT VERY EFFECTIVE. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER PUTTING IT IN NUETRAL WHILE ON THE ENTRANCE RAMP TO AN INTERSTATE. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAD HAPPENED AND UNTIL NOW I DID NOT KNOW THEY INCIDENTS WERE CONNECTED. THE FIRST TIME IT OCCURRED I HAD JUST REFUELED AND WAS PULLING UP AT A STOP LIGHT AND IT TURNED OFF WHILE I WAS STOPPING FOR THE LIGHT.
HAVE HAD MY JEEP FOR 6 YEARS ITS ALWAYS STALLING I TOOK IT TO JEEP CHRYSLER DODGE, FIRESTONE NOBODY CAN FIGURE OUT WHATS WRONG; IT ACTUALLY TURNS ITSELF OFF AND NOBODY KNOWS WHY. THIS IS DANGEROUS THIS CAR NEEDS A RECALL. I HAVE READ THAT 2012 MODELS DO THIS SAME THING BUT THIS ONE DOES IT TOO.ALSO THE SUNROOF LEAKS AS WELL AND THE RAINWATER GOES INTO THE LIGHTS. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND A JEEP TO ANYBODY EVER AGAIN, THESE CARS ARE NOT SAFE AND NO ONE CARES ABOUT THIS PROBLEM.I HAVE PAID TO GET IT LOOKED AT BUT THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT, I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT PROBABLY NEEDS A SYSTEM UPDATE THERE IS NOTHING WRONG BUT YET MY CAR TURNS ITSELF OFF ALL THE TIME GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT SPEEDS 65 MILES AN HOUR THE ENGINE STALLS AND SHUTS OFF THE SUNROOF HAS LEAKED AND POURED INSIDE THE JEEP SINCE THE DAY I HAD IT IT'S A VERY DANGEROUS VEHICLE IT NEEDS TO PLEASE BE INVESTIGATED
EVERYTIME WIFE FILLS THE FUEL TANK, THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF. 80% OF THE TIME IT HAPPENS IN THE INTERSECTION LEAVING THE FUEL STATION. SHE HAS ALMOST BEEN IN NUMEROUS ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. SHE LOOSES POWER STEERING AS THE PUMP IS NO LONGER RUNNING BECAUSE THE ENGINE HAS SHUT DOWN. JEEP DEALER SAYS THIS IS A COMMON SAFETY PROBLEM, AND THAT THE FUEL TANK IS THE CULPRIT. THE OVERFLOW VALVE ON THE FUEL TANK IS FAULTY. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS WITH OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME SAFETY ISSUE. THIS NEED TO BE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED.
AFTER FILLING UP GAS AT HALF A TANK THE CAR STALLS TRYING TO SHUT OFF AFTER DRIVING A SHORT DISTANCE SO THERE'S NO POWER TO STEER OR BRAKE SAFELY IN TRAFFIC. AT STOPS, THE CAR WILL SHUT OFF.
REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILED. THE ENTIRE DIFFERENTIAL WAS REPLACED BY JEEP THROUGH UNLIMITED POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. PROBLEM SOLVED. -THE FRAME AND BODY BEGUN TO RUST. THE PROBLEM STARTED TO APPEAR WHEN THE CAR WAS LESS THAN 5 YEARS OLD. THE PROBLEM WAS BROUGHT UP TO JEEP. JEEP DECLINED TO FIX OR ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. -ENGINE STALLS EVERY 11 SECONDS. FAULTY CODE SHOWS: P2107: THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL MODULE PROCESSOR. THE THROTTLE MODULE WAS REPLACED TWICE. PROBLEM PERSISTS. THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING. VERY UNSAFE DUE TO LOSS OF STEERING. CURRENTLY, THE CAR IS NOT DRIVABLE - PROBLEM NOT FIXED. REQUEST RESEARCH HELP. *TR

THE TRACTION CONTROL WILL COME ON AND IT'S AN ABLE TO BE TURNED OFF AFTER IT LOCKS UP AND STALLS AND SHUTS OFF WHILE YOU'RE DRIVING IT ANY SPEED IT DOESN'T RESTART
OVER THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS I AM UNABLE TO PUT GAS AND IT IT SHUTS OFF THE PUMP AND USUALLY IT DOESN'T START AFTERWARDS BUT I WILL BE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT SPEED OF 65 70 MILES PER HOUR THE VEHICLE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT WILL COME ON THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CONTINUES TO FLASH STANDING IN THE ENGINE LOCKS UP IN THE CAR STALLS AND DIES AND WILL NOT RESTART VERY DANGEROUS AND VERY SCARY
ON JULY 13, 2016, I TOOK MY JEEP IN TO OUR LOCAL DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE. WHEN PICKING UP MY JEEP, I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE WRITER THAT THEY DISCOVERED THE K FRAME (CROSSOVER IN FRONT OF VEHICLE) WAS RUSTED THROUGH AND WOULD VERY SOON NEED TO BE REPLACED. IF IT WAS NOT REPLACED, IT WOULD BE A SAFETY HAZARD! I AM AWARE THAT CHRYSLER EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THE 2007 JEEP PATRIOT TO 10 YEARS FOR THIS SAME EXACT PROBLEM. THE 2007 AND 2008 MODELS USE THE SAME FRAME AND DESIGN. THEY DID NOT EXTEND THE COVERAGE FOR THE 2008 MODEL. THIS IS A DEFECTIVE DESIGN CAUSING A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY RISK. I HAVE APPROXIMATELY 105,000 MILES ON MY JEEP.
FRONT CROSS MEMBER ROTTED OUT AND FAILED STATE INSPECTION. THIS CROSS MEMBER IS WHAT RACK AND PINION AND CONTROL ARMS BOLT TOO.. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP PATRIOT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL JERKED TO THE LEFT. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE MADE AN ABNORMAL NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN.
SUBFRAME IS RUSTED OUT DUE TO LOCATION OF A/C DRAIN. IF IT BREAKS STEERING CONTROL WILL BE LOST. THIS WAS FOUND DURING ROUTINE INSPECTION. 2007 AND EARLIER MODELS HAVE BEEN RECALLED
