AS I WAS BACKING OUT OF DRIVEWAY THE CAR DIED ON THE ROAD. *TR
I HAVE HAD MY 2014 JEEP PATRIOT IN TO BE SERVICED 2 TIMES AND THEY TELL ME NOTHING IS WRONG BUT THE PASSENGER DEFOGGER DOES NOT WORK WELL AND THERE IS ALWAYS FOG ON THE SIDE OF THE FRONT WINDOW AND THE FRONT OF THE SIDE PASSENGER WINDOW CAUSING POOR VISIBILITY. THIS IS BASICALLY WHEN IT IS COLD OUTSIDE AND I NEED THE DEFROSTEVEN AFTER THE CAR WARMS UP THIS IS STILL A PROBLEM IN COLD WEATHER. IS ANYONE ELSE COMPLAINING OF THIS I WONDER. I LOVE MY JEEP. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP PATRIOT. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE RPM NEEDLE FLUCTUATED BETWEEN SIX AND SEVEN. THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD SOUND AND THE GEAR WOULD NOT WORK PROPERLY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOUR OR FIVE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 34.
I PURCHASED A 0 MILES, NEW 2013 JEEP PATRIOT OFF THE LOT. AFTER 4 MONTHS, THE TRANSMISSION WAS MAKING A LOUD NOISE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE HOME. THEY KEPT IT 6 WEEKS AND PUT IN A NEW TRANSMISSION. TWO MONTHS LATER, THE ARM THAT CONNECTS THE STEERING TO THE FRONT WHEELS BROKE OFF WHEN I WAS DRIVING. I WAS GOING SLOW, AS I WAS CLOSE TO HOME, SO LUCKILY I WAS NOT HURT. IT HAD TO BE TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER. IN BETWEEN THESE TWO INCIDENTS I WAS PULLED FOR SPEEDING. I HAVE NEVER HAD A SPEEDING TICKET IN 20 YEARS OF DRIVING. I HAD THE CAR TESTED AND THE SPEEDOMETER WAS READING 8 MILES SLOWER THAN IT WAS ACTUALLY DRIVING. I REFUSED TO TAKE THE JEEP HOME. THE DEALER DID NOT WANT TO NEGOTIATE BUT I WAS SCARED TO DRIVE IT. WE AGREE ON ME TAKING A 2014 MODEL AND THEY RAISED MY PAYMENT BY ALMOST $70. A MONTH. 7 MONTHS AFTER TAKING HOME THE 2014 MODEL, THE CAR STARTED MAKING A LOUD NOISE. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THE TRANSMISSION WAS ALMOST GONE AND IT WAS TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. THEY KEPT THE CAR 8 WEEKS TO REPAIR THE TRANSMISSION. IT HAS JUST BEEN RETURNED TO ME. I AM WORRIED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY WHEN THEY ARE IN THE CAR. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY CAR, I SLOWED DOWN TO TURN INTO A PARKING LOT..AS I WAS TURNING, THE CAR CUT OFF..THERE WAS NO WARNING OR NOISES. JUST DEAD..I WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT WITH NO PROBLEMS. .LATER THAT DAY I WAS PULLING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT AND IT CUT OFF AGAIN. IT IS STILL COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER A FULL DAY THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE MY PROBLEM AND NO SERVICE LIGHTS WERE ON SO THEY GAVE ME MY CAR BACK. TOLD TO WAIT TILL A LIGHT COMES ON. I HAVE GIVEN IT 1 WEEK WITH IT CUTTING OFF SEVERAL TIMES. AND YET NO ENGINE LIGHT IS ON..I AM SO SCARED TO DRIVE MY CAR ESPECIALLY AFTER SOMEONE ALMOST HIT ME WHEN IT STALLED. LASTLY, WHILE DRIVING MY CAR, I WAS TURNING AT A MAJOR INTERSECTION AND IT STALLED AGAIN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. NEXT UP, DEALERSHIP TOMORROW MORNING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP PATRIOT. WHILE IDLING AT A STOP LIGHT, THE VEHICLE JERKED FORWARD AND IN REVERSE. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE HAD STEAM COMING FROM THE HOOD, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL ODOR, AND THE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE HAD OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY THREE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 25,069.
WE WERE DRIVING NORTH AND CAME UPON AN INTERSECTION WHERE WE PUT OUR TURN SIGNAL ON, AND SLOWED DOWN AND STOPPED, ABOUT TO TURN WEST. THE LIGHT TURNED RED, AND WE SLOWLY DROVE WEST ONTO THE CROSSING STREET. ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT WAS DRIVING SOUTH PROCEEDED THROUGH THE RED LIGHT, AT ABOUT 45 MPH, AND HIT THE 2014 JEEP PATRIOT BROADSIDE, PASSENGER SIDE. THE JEEP WAS PUSHED AND SPUN 90 DEGREES FROM THE IMPACT OF THE COLLISION, WE WERE TOSSED AROUND VIOLENTLY IN OUR SEATS, WITH THE PASSENGER OBTAINING CONTUSIONS AND ABRASIONS TO HER ARM CLOSEST TO THE IMPACT SITE. SHE HAD ALSO BANGED HER HEAD AGAINST THE WINDOW AND STRAINED HER NECK FROM THE IMPACT, ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE OF THE JEEP. AND FINALLY, HAD STRAINED THE MUSCLES IN HER LOWER BACK FROM GETTING THRUST AT THE DIRECTION OF THE IMPACT SITE. THE DRIVER HAD SUFFERED AN IMPACT ABRASION TO HIS LEFT ARM, LEAVING AN IMPRINT OF THE SEAT BELT MATERIAL INTO HIS SKIN. HE HAD ALSO SUFFERED MUSCLE STRAINS AND LOWER BACK STRAINS FROM THE FORCE OF THE IMPACT. AGAIN, WHILE BEING HIT FROM A VEHICLE GOING 45 MPH, AND LEAVING DAMAGE THAT HAD LITERALLY STARTED TO FOLD THE VEHICLE AT THE MIDPOINT, AND COLLAPSED THE WHEEL AND AXLE, NOT A SINGLE AIRBAG HAD DEPLOYED IN THIS VEHICLE. I WAS AT A STOP SIGN WAITING FOR TRAFFIC TO CLEAR AND WHEN IT WAS CLEAR I PROCEEDED TO TURN OUT ON THE OTHER ROAD BY PRESSING THE GAS PEDDLE BUT THE JEEP ACTED AS IF I WAS NOT PRESSING ON THE GAS AT ALL. IT SEEMS AS IF IT WAS IN NEUTRAL FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN AFTER THAT IT PICKED UP SPEED BUT I ALMOST GOT HIT BY THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC. *TR
PURCHASED A 2014 JEEP PATRIOT (USED) ON 03/15/2014 WAS GOING TO WORK AT 5AM. ALL OF A SUDDEN WAS IN 2 LANE JEEP STARTED LOOSING POWER, SKIPPING BAD,IT DID NOT WONT TO RUN!!! FINALLY GOT IT OUT OF THE ROAD. THIS WAS IN AUGUST OF 2015. CALLED MY HUSBAND HE CAME WE GOT IT BACK HOME. POLICE STOPPED TO SEE IF I WAS OK NOW I CALLED THE JEEP RECALL PLACE AND GAVE THEM MY VIN NUMBER SAID NO RECALLS . SO NOW THE JEEP WILL NOT START WHEN I TURN THE IGNITION ON! HAVE TO DO IT SEVERAL TIMES TO GET IT TO CRANK!!! WE LIVE UP ON MOUNTAIN NOW IT STARTED AGAIN THE SAME THING!!!! HESITATES GOING UP THE MOUNTAIN AND ALSO ON STRAIGHT FLAT ROAD!!! SO WHAT AM I SUPPOSE TO DO???? IT SCARES ME THINKING I AM GOING TO GET STRANDED ON SIDE OF ROAD ANYTIME, ESPECIALLY AT 5 IN THE MORNINGS!!!! STILL DOING THE SAME THING!!! THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL AND HAD TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO THE PARK POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT NO FURTHER INFORMATION WAS AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,500.

THE DRIVER SUFFERED LACERATIONS TO THE LEG, CHEST AND BACK AREA. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT NO INFORMATION WAS AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,800.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT SPOKE TO A DEALER THAT INFORMED THAR THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE BUT THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT HER ONCE THE PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHILE BRAKING AT 35 MPH, THE REAR DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELTS FAILED TO TIGHTEN AND RESTRAIN THE OCCUPANTS. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE REPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 900. VIN TOOL CONFIRMED PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
ELECTRIC LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHT TURN ON AND THE ENGINE IS ROUGH IDLING. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE OR BRAKE. THE BRAKE PEDAL BECOME PRESSURIZED AND WILL NOT RESPOND OR DEPRESS.
THIS CAR I PURCHASED HAS MANUAL DOOR LOCKS. MY WIFE HAS GREAT DIFFICULTY UNLOCKING THE REAR DOORS AND FOR MY MOTHER IN LAW IT IS IMPOSSIBLE. THE CAR WAS ORDERED SO I WAS UNAWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THE YOUNG, ELDERLY, AND THOSE PHYSICALLY IMPAIRED WOULD FIND IT IMPOSSIBLE TO UNLOCK THE REAR DOORS. PERSONNEL AT THE DEALERSHIP AGREE WITH MY ASSESSMENT AND I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK THREE TIMES AND WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT FIX IT. I AM REPORTING THIS INFORMATION BECAUSE I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF HOW MANY INCIDENTS ARE THE SAME. MY JEEP PATRIOT DOES NOT HANDLE WELL ON GROOVED CONCRETE ROADWAYS. IT SWAYS, QUITE A LOT AND FEELS LIKE I WILL LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE FIRST INCIDENT OF THIS WAS ON HWY 287 NORTH OF LONGMONT, CO. UNFORTUNATELY, THE DEALER SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN IN ANY OTHER VEHICLE I HAVE OWNED IN THE PAST 30 YEARS. I HAVE HAD OTHER INCIDENTS SINCE THE FIRST, JUST YESTERDAY. IT IS VERY HARD TO GO ANYWHERE THAT I AM NOT FAMILIAR OR WHEN ITS DARK, I DON'T KNOW WHEN I WILL ENCOUNTER THIS TYPE OF ROADWAY. YESTERDAY, I RECEIVED A CALL FROM HIM STATING THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR! THE DEALER REPLACED THE OIL SENSOR AND THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY SHUTS OFF AND LOCKS BRAKES WHILE DRIVING (35-40 MPH). VERY DANGEROUS EXPERIENCE DUE TO LOOSING CONTROL OF VEHICLE WHILE TRAVELING. *TR
OVER PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS, VEHICLE HAD ISSUES OF START/NO START. BEING FRUSTRATED, I TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER ON 7/3/17. DEALER REPLACED THE TIPM SAME DAY. ON JULY 4TH VEHICLE STILL EXPERIENCE START/NO START. RETURNED THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER ON 7/6/17 AND I AM AWAITING RESULTS FROM DEALER REGARDING THE ISSUE. WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER CHRYSLER IS HAVING ISSUES WITH THE TIPM AND EXCESSIVE HEAT ON ENGINE SEEMS TO PLAY A MAJOR FACTOR IN THE FAILURE OF THE TIPM.
ON THIS DAY WHILE DRIVING ON 95 SOUTH TO FRANKLIN MILLS MALL FROM UPPER DARBY WE NOTICED AN ELECTRICAL BURNING SMELL. ONCE I WAS AT THE MALL PARKING LOT LOOKING FOR A PARKING SPACE MY SON INDICATES THAT THERE IS SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER HOOD ON PASSENGER SIDE. I PUT CAR IN PARK IN FRONT OF THE J C PENNEY STORE MY SON JUMPS OUT AND ATTEMPTS TO OPEN THE HOOD. BUT IT DOESN'T OPEN. HE THEN SAYS GET OUT IT IS ON FIRE. WE ALL GET OUT AND WHEN WE MOVE SAFELY AWAY FROM CAR WE CAN SEE FIRE UNDER THE CAR WITH WIRES HANGING DOWN TO THE GROUND. MY SON IS A VOLUNTEER FIRE FIGHTER SO HE RAN INTO THE STORE TO GET AN EXTINGUISHER. HE SPRAYS THE HOOD I GUESS IN AN ATTEMPT TO COOL CAR DOWN. THEN AGAIN, BEFORE THE FIRE TRUCKS ARRIVE, HE HAD GONE INTO STORE AGAIN TO GET ANOTHER EXTINGUISHER. THIS TIME HE GETS ON THE GROUND AN EXTINGUISHER TOWARD THE FIRE THAT WAS INTENSIVELY SPREADING UNDER THE CAR. FIRE FIGHTERS COME AND EVENTUALLY HAD TO PRY THE HOOD OPEN AND SMOKE AND FLAMES BILLOW OUT UNTIL THE MANAGED TO PUT OUT FIRE. NO WARNINGS HOWEVER I DID NOTICE THAT ELECTRICAL BURN SMELL ONCE TWO DAYS PRIOR TO INCIDENT. SO NOW MY INSURANCE DETERMINE IT A TOTAL LOSS. THEY PAID $17,000 TO MY CREDITOR BUT I'M STUCK WITH A $6000 BALANCE AND NO CAR TO DRIVE. I WONDER IF I CAN SUE MANUFACTURER IN SMALL CLAIMS COURT FOR @ $10,000 OR SO? *TR
WHEN MAKING A TURN AT A STOP LIGHT OR MERGING INTO TRAFFIC AT A LOW SPEED, ENGINE DIES BUT WILL RESTART AFTER IT'S PUT BACK INTO PARK & RESTARTED. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVEN TIMES & ONE TIME WHEN NOT TURNING & USUALLY WHEN YOU ARE TURNING INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND HAS BEEN IN FOR REPAIRS EACH TIME. SERVICE CAN'T DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. VEHICLE DOES NOT GIVE ANY INDICATION THAT ENGINE WILL DIE. TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON IF IT DIES WHILE TURNING BUT IF NOT TURNING, VEHICLE ENGINE SIMPLY SHUTS OFF, AS IF IGNITION HAS BEEN TURNED OFF BUT VEHICLE HAS TO BE IN PARK AS OPPOSED TO BEING IN DRIVE WHEN ENGINE DIES. THE ENGINE IS QUIET & YOU CAN'T TELL IT'S DIED & YOU HAVE NO STEERING CONTROL. I'VE ALMOST BEEN IN THREE ACCIDENTS, ONE WITH A TRUCK-TRAILER WAITING TO TURN BUT STOPPING ABOUT A FOOT AWAY FROM BEHIND ME. MY MOM WAS IN A HIGH SCHOOL PARKING LOT AFTER A GAME & ALMOST ROLLED INTO SOME HIGH SCHOOL KIDS & THEIR PARENTS B/C SHE DIDN'T REALIZE SHE WAS ROLLING BACKWARDS UNTIL MY BROTHER PULLED THE E-BRAKE. THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASE FROM TOLD ME THAT CHRYSLER DEEMS IT A LEMON. I OPENED A CASE WITH CHRYSLER, THEY WASTED MY TIME & FINALLY TOLD ME THAT NCDSUSA.ORG DEEMS IT A LEMON. I WASTE MORE TIME TO OPEN A CASE WITH NCDSUSA.ORG & SEND THEM MY REPAIR ORDERS & THEY GO THROUGH THE TRIAL & TELL ME THAT THEY DO NOT DEEM IT A LEMON BUT THAT SINCE THE DEALERSHIP HAS SAID IT'S IN WORKING ORDER THAT MY CASE IS DECLINED. MFG AND DEALER INDICATE THAT ALL JEEP PATRIOTS HAVE TRANSMISSION METERING/SENSORING SYSTEM THAT FAILS AND THAT THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX THE THE DEFECTIVE COMPONENTS. THEY SAY THEY'RE NOT ISSUING A SAFETY RECALL BECAUSE THERE HAVEN'T BEEN ENOUGH CRASHES OR FATALITIES. WHEN THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT GOES ON, THE VEHICLE WILL SLOW DOWN SWIFTLY (EX 70MPH TO 20MPH OR FULL STOP) AND THIS IMPACTS VEHICLE SAFETY - PUTTING SAFETY AND LIVES OF THOUSANDS OF JEEP DRIVERS AT RISK, ALONG WITH PASSENGER AND THEIR FAMILIES. ALL MFG AND DEALER TRY TO DO IS COLLECT DIAGNOSTIC TESTING FEE FOR VEHICLE DEFECTS THEY'RE AWARE OF AND HAVE NO FIX FOR. BASICALLY, THEY'RE WILLING TO COLLECT MONEY AND LET PEOPLE CRASH OR DIE. WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, GLANCED AT THE PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR AND NOTICED GREY SMOKE COMING FROM THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE WITHIN A FEW SECONDS THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON. I STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT BEFORE A SAFE PULL OVER SPOT WAS AVAILABLE. ONCE LIGHT CHANGED TO GREEN, VEHICLE WOULD BARLEY MOVE EVEN WITH INCREASED THROTTLE PRESSURE. I REALLY HATE THAT I HAVE SO MANY ISSUES WITH THE CONSOLE ELECTRICAL IN MY CAR. MOSTLY RADIO/AUX/CHARGER/STARTER. SINCE ABOUT A WEEK AFTER I GOT THE CAR, AND OF CORSE AFTER 3 DAYS ITS NOT RETURNABLE. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, WHEN THE VEHICLE SHIFTED FROM DRIVE TO 4TH GEAR WITHOUT BEING TOUCHED.THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE HAS AN OPTION TO MANUALLY SHIFT THROUGH THE SEVEN GEARS BY BUMPING THE SHIFTER SIDEWAYS. BUT NOTHING HAD CAME IN CONTACT WITH THE SHIFTER WHEN IT HAPPENED. IT HAS SINCE THIS FIRST INCIDENT, SHIFTED INTO LOWER GEARS MULTIPLE TIMES AND LEAVING THE RPMS NEAR OR IN RED LINES. THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT BACK INTO NORMAL DRIVING IS TO PULL THE SHIFTER UP INTO NEUTRAL AND BACK DOWN INTO DRIVE. IT WILL ALSO DE-ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE QUICKLY WHEN YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND PUT IT ON THE BRAKE TO SHIFT BACK INTO NORMAL DRIVING. *TR

I WAS DRIVING MY JEEP ON THE THRUWAY AND IT SEEMED TO SOUND REALLY LOUD, LIKE A MOTORCYCLE, THE JEEP WAS NOT RUNNING RIGHT, COULD NOT ACCELERATE NORMALLY, AND I COULD SMELL A FUNNY SMELL. AFTER A WHILE THE NOISE STARTED TO DROP, BUT IT WAS STILL NOTICEABLY LOUDER THAN BEFORE. I WAS NOT SURE WHAT WAS GOING ON AND I TOLD MY DAD ABOUT IT AFTER I GOT HOME. HE WENT OUTSIDE TO CHECK IT OUT AND NOTICED THE EXHAUST SYSTEM HAD FLIPPED AND THE TAIL PIPE WAS LODGED UP IN THE BUMPER, THE PLASTIC WAS MELTED, A HOLE WAS BURNT IN THE BUMBER, AND PART OF THE FRAME WAS MELTED TOO. WE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO GET IT FIXED SINCE THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY (BEFORE THE FIRST OIL CHANGE) BUT THEY REFUSED CLAIMING THAT THE CAR WAS HIT, ALTHOUGH NO SIGN OF IMPACT CAN BE FOUND. WE CALLED CHRYSLER AND AFTER A FEW MONTHS OF GOING BACK TO THE DEALERS TO HAVE PICTURES TAKEN AND DISCUSSIONS THEY REFUSED TO FIX THE JEEP TOO. I KNOW, THIS IS AN ISSUE ON THE PATRIOT ESPECIALLY SINCE I FOUND A FEW IDENTICAL COMPLAINTS (SOMETHING ABOUT TOLERANCE STACK UP RESULTING IN A SHORTED EXHAUST SYSTEM), AND SINCE IT IS SO CLOSE TO THE GAS TANK, I AM VERY LUCKY THE VEHICLE DID NOT CATCH ON FIRE BEFORE RESETTING THE EXHAUST SYSTEM INTO POSITION. I AM NOT SURE WHAT TO DO NEXT! I AM 100% SURE I SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS REPAIR. *TR

I TOOK JEEP TO DEALER ON 12-6 2013 THEY SAID WHAT DO I THINK SHOULD BE DONE TO FIGURE OUT WHY IT SHOOK. DID SOME SEARCHING ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS WAS NOT CAUSED BY A ROCK OR FOREIGN OBJECT - IT HAPPENED RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY EYES. I PURCHASED THIS 2014 PATRIOT FOUR WEEKS AGO WITH, I HAVE NOT EVEN MADE A FIRST PAYMENT. YESTERDAY WHILE DRIVING IN A PARKING LOT MY JEEP LOST ALL POWER. I WAS SHIFTED INTO DRIVE AND WOULD HIT THE GAS PEDAL AND NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN. THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING THAT IS WAS GOING TO STALL, NO INDICATOR LIGHTS EVER TURNED ON. I PLACED THE JEEP IN PARK AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. TURNED IT BACK ON, IT WAS NOT IMMEDIATE THERE WAS SOME LAG ON THE START AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP TODAY TO BE INSPECTED AFTER A FEW HOURS THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. I HAVE INVESTIGATED FURTHER AND FOUND THAT THE 2011/2012 MODELS HAVE BEEN INVESTIGATED FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM IN THE PAST. THIS IS A TERRIFYING AND DANGEROUS OCCURRENCE THAT MUST BE RESOLVED. I AM NOW FEARFUL THAT THIS WILL REOCCUR IN MUCH MORE CONGESTED OR HIGH SPEED CONDITIONS. *TR
BRAKE FAILURE AND CAR ACCELERATES DURING PERIODS OF BRAKE FAILURE. A WEEK AFTER TAKING DELIVERY OF THIS NEW CAR WITH AROUND 470 MILES ON THE ODE METER, IT WAS NOTICED THAT DURING PERIODS OF GENTLE BRAKING, THE BRAKES APPEARED TO FAIL AND THE CAR WOULD ACCELERATED DURING THE SHORT PERIODS THE BRAKES WOULD FAIL. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE WAS NOTICED AT AROUND 30 MPH IN STEADY URBAN TRAFFIC. THE BRAKES APPEARED TO FAIL AGAIN ABOUT 10 MIN LATER IN SIMILAR TRAFFIC. DURING THESE 2 FAILURES THE BRAKES APPEARED TO FAIL FOR AROUND A QUARTER OF A SECOND. ABOUT 1/2 AN HOUR LATER, IN STEADY FREEWAY TRAFFIC OF 55 TO 60 MPH AT AROUND 3.30 PM, GENTLE BRAKING WAS NEEDED AND THE BRAKES FAILED AND THE CAR ACCELERATED FOR ABOUT A PERIOD OF ONE TO ONE AND A HALF SECONDS. I WAS VERY CLOSE TO RAMMING THE CAR IN FRONT. DURING THE PERIODS OF FAILURE, THE BRAKE PEDAL REMAINS FIRM AND SOLID, IT IS AS IF THE BRAKES ARE ELECTRONICALLY SWITCHED OFF AND THEN ELECTRONICALLY SWITCHED ON AGAIN. DURING THE PERIODS OF FAILURES, THE APPLICATION OF ADDITIONAL PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL DOES NOT STOP THE CAR ACCELERATING. THE FASTER THE SPEED, THE LONGER THE PERIOD THAT THE BRAKES APPEAR TO FAIL. IT WAS A PRETTY SCARY EXPERIENCE. THE BOTTOM LINE IS, WHEN YOU APPLY THE BRAKES IN ANY CAR, THE DRIVER NEEDS TO HAVE THE CONFIDENCE THAT THE CAR WILL SLOW DOWN AND STOP SAFELY, THE LAST THING A CAR SHOULD DO, IS ACCELERATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PRESSED, IT TOTALLY DESTROYS THE SAFE BRAKING 3 SECOND RULE. THE MANUFACTURE HAS DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE IS THE PROBLEM AND IT COULD TAKE UP TO A YEAR TO REWRITE THE SOFTWARE. THIS, IN MY OPINION, IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE AND ALL 2014 JEEP PATRIOT AND COMPASS WITH 6 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS SHOULD BE TAKE OFF THE ROAD. NHTSA ARE WELCOME TO A TEST DRIVE, THESE BRAKE FAILURE/ACCELERATION ISSUES OCCUR EVERY TIME THE CAR IS DRIVEN. *TR

I BACK UP, PUT THE VEHICLE IN 4X4 LOW AND IF ANY WHEEL SLIPS, IT WOULD STOP AT 2,000 RPM AGAIN. ALL I CAN DO IS BACK DOWN A DANGEROUS ROAD AND TRY TO FIND A SPOT WHERE I CAN TURN AROUND. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES, BEEN TO 2 DEALERS IN 2 STATES 4 TIMES. THE VEHICLE STRANDED ME ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS DOING THE SAME THING IN DANGEROUS AREA WITH CLIFFS OR STEEP DROP OFFS TO RIVERS AND ROCK OUT CROPS ON ONE SIDE. CHRYSLER HQ SAID THEY WILL NOT WORK ON MY VEHICLE ANYMORE AND THAT THE TRUCK IS PERFORMING AS DESIGNED! DESIGNED TO STRAND SOMEONE ON A WELL TRAVELED MINING ROAD THE OTHER PICKUPS CAN GET TO WITHOUT 4X4? I BOUGHT THIS 4X4 WITH THE OFF ROAD TRAIL RATED PACKAGE BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT THE SELLING DEALER SAID I NEEDED FOR MINING. IT HAS NOT BEEN OFF ROAD. I CAN'T EVEN GET TO WHERE I WORK AND THIS VEHICLE HAS EVEN FAILED ON VERY SMALL HILLS WITH DEALERSHIP PERSONNEL IN THE VEHICLE. ANOTHER DEALER TEST DROVE IT, FAILED AND WOULDN'T GO OVER 2,300 RPM. THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. THEY DUPLICATED THE PROBLEM IN 4X4 DRIVE, 4X4 LOW, WITH AND WITHOUT TRACTION CONTROL. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT PULL ITS OWN WEIGHT AND NO WHEELS ARE EVEN SPINNING. VERY DANGEROUS DESIGN AND CAN'T EVEN GET TO MY JOB! WHEN I HAVE TO BACK DOWN BECAUSE IT WILL NOT GO FORWARD I HAVE TO MAKE SURE IT'S A PLACE PERPENDICULAR TO THE SLOPE OF THE INCLINE OR YOU ARE STUCK DIAGONAL TO THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE WILL NOT GO FORWARD AND THERE IS NO MORE ROOM TO BACK UP WITHOUT GOING OFF A CLIFF, FALLING INTO A RIVER OR SLIDING INTO A CANYON. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AROUND A CORNER WHICH I DRIVE AROUND AT LEAST 2 TIMES A DAY, MIDWAY THRU THE TURN MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND WOULD NOT LET ME TURN IT ...
