NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2014 Jeep Patriot. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
The passenger headrest with the active restraint system popped open yesterday 7/27/22. This vehicle has not been in any accidents or any reason for it to open. When investigating, the plastic piece that holds the latch was broken. The safety concern is if it happens on the driver side while the driver is actually driving the car, it can cause injury to the driver as well as potential for car accidents to happen.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the driver’s side air bag warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the driver’s side air bag was faulty and needed to be replaced. No further information was available. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 108,000.
Passenger head rest popped out hitting passenger while car was parked, active head rest deployed without cause or warning.
While traveling at approximately 45 mph the engine light came on my jeep decreased on speed and it wouldn’t go any faster than 30 mph. The engine started shaking/jerking then the engine light flashed on and off very quickly. Was able to Pull to the side of the road car completely stalled out just as I put it in park. This incident also occurred 2 weeks after having the catalytic converter replaced due to emissions recall and it was jerking. I had to have emit towed
Engine stalled when I was driving
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that while the vehicle was in for routine maintenance, he was informed that the subframe was rusted. The contact called the local dealer but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no additional assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 63,045.
My jeep has revved up and lunged forward scream times over the past 4 months. I’ll have my foot on the brake and it’s trying to lunge forward. Today the engine light came on and it wouldn’t go any faster than 30mph and it was jerking. I had to have emit towed.
The Electronic Throttle Body has failed 3 times in 3 years. Each time it caused issued with the traction control, stability control, and precrash systems and others that require torque management, causing us to pull and making it unsafe to drive. . 2014 Jeep Patriot bought: 1/10/2015 | Electronic Throttle Body Assembly (Chrysler) first replaced/purchased: $385 1/19/2021 | Warranty replacement: August 2021 | purchased replacement (Techsmart/Standard Motor Products): $494.88 4/14/2022
The driver headrest inadvertently deployed - looks like the plastic clip inside broke
As my wife was heading to a doctor's appointment the electronic throttle body failed while she was on a busy highway during rush hour. The car had 51,524 miles on it. This is the second time that this part has failed. The first time was a little less than 40,000 miles. When this fails the vehicle loses power and becomes a rear-end collision hazard. I also own a 2016 Jeep Patriot and its throttle body failed at a little less than 40,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that the fuel tank failed to accept fuel when refueling. The contact mentioned that the fuel pump clicked off when attempting to refuel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was confirmed that the turn-over valve failed however the year vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 12V142000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000.
Active head rest deployed while the car was sitting unattended and unoccupied in my work parking lot. Came out of work to drive home and found my driver's side head rest had deployed. No signs that the car was hit. No warning signs previous to this. Scary to think it could've happened while I was driving, especially after reading stories of people facing concussions. Taking it to a dealer tomorrow but otherwise no inspections yet.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that while driving at 40 MPH, the vehicle started shaking uncontrollably in the front end, causing the steering wheel to vibrate uncontrollably. The contact also heard abnormal sounds coming from the vehicle. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and determined that the vehicle was not under recall or warranty. The failure mileage was unknown.
Vehicle occasionally makes a clicking sound in the dash by steering column. Only lasts few seconds. Happens when you either use key fob to unlock door (not even in vehicle yet) or when you start vehicle. Vehicle is usually not running when this happens. Also, several times my headlights came on for no reason the past few weeks draining the battery. Keys were hanging up in house when it happened!
My patriot keeps shutting down on and off while driving. It is really unsafe, I did some research and there are multiple complaints since 2014 from other people about the same problem. The steering wheel won't even move when this happened. I believe this is a manufacturing issue and I am reporting it. I had taken my car to the mechanic over and over again and they do not know why this is happening.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 MPH, the passenger’s side headrest air bag exploded without warning striking the contact’s son on the back of the head. There was no injury sustained. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.
I believe the roll over safety valve inside the gas tank is faulty, and have noticed many others having the same issue in forums. The vehicle will not accept fuel, and acts as if it is full. Sometimes if you hit the bottom of the fuel tank with a rubber mallet, the valve will unstick and accept fuel again for a short while.
The "gate" light will come on and off and so will the all the lights in the vehicle and it will do it off and on. I am not paying to fix it. I never had a problem with it before and I've had this Jeep for almost a year. I was in a hit and run in August and my Jeep didn't do this until I got it back about a week afterwards.
On 7/15, my sensor showed I needed a usual oil change. I have had no prior issues with my oil. I drove it to my brothers and there was a loud knocking sound, and my dad checked the dipstick showing zero oil in my engine. I took it down the street about 2 miles, and the engine was stalling the whole way. The engine completely failed. It wouldn’t take oil, it was completely failed. As of 11/2013, I did some research and my particular model of the vehicle has an open recall that apparently doesn’t affect my VIN, however, the recall 13v552000/N52 states that abrasive debri in the balance shaft bearing causes loss of engine oil pressure, causing the engine to stall and or fail. I’m at a loss, and it’s been open as of 11/2013.
Customer Report: Initial report from customer to GSA Field Service Rep on May 18, 2021. Active head restraint deployed not due to accident. Per customer: "One employee was injured and filed a workers comp due to the head restraint inadvertently deploying." Note: Stellantis and its Special Investigations unit are involved. Consumer stated manufacture has been contacted.
WAS DRIVING 55 ON HIGHWAY AND JEEP STARTED SPUTTERING AND JUMPING. THEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THROTTLE BODY SENSOR LIGHT CAME ON. LIMPED IT HOME WITH FLASHERS ON AT 30 MPH. IT WOULD NOT GO ANY FASTER.
I HAVE A 2014 2.4L JEEP PATRIOT. I FIRST NOTICED THE PROBLEM WHEN I WAS DRIVING AT 60 MPH, THEN SUDDENLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO LOSE SPEED. THE ENGINE FELT LIKE IT WAS RUNNING OUT OF POWER AND I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. THE ENGINE BEGAN TO STALL AND WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO GO OVER 20 MPH. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED TO GET WORSE. WHILE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, THE ENGINE WOULD IDLE VERY HEAVILY. WHEN I WENT TO PROCEED, THE ENGINE WOULD STALL. MY FOOT WOULD BE PRESSING DOWN ON THE GAS PEDAL BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T ACCELERATE. THEN AFTER ABOUT TWO MINUTES WITH THE GAS PEDAL DOWN TO THE FLOOR, THE VEHICLE'S RPMS WOULD JUMP TO 4-5 AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. ANOTHER ISSUE IS WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD BE IN A PARKED POSITION AND THEN PROCEEDED TO BE REVERSED, AS I WAS TURNING THE WHEEL TO BACK UP THE ENGINE STARTED SPUTTERING AND STALLED OUT. I HAD TO COMPLETELY TURN THE KEY OFF THEN BACK ON TO ALLOW ME TO CONTINUE TO REVERSE. I'VE TAKEN IT TO SO MANY SHOPS THAT CAN'T GIVE ME ANSWERS. THE PROBLEM IS CONSISTENT WITH THE NHS RECALL- 13V552000
2014 JEEP PATRIOT. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO ENGINE BALANCE SHAFT MODULE. *LD THE CONSUMER REFERENCED RECALL N52/13V-552. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE WOULD STALL WHILE DRIVING DUE TO LOSS OF ENGINE OIL PRESSURE. *JS
DRIVER STOOD OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE WITH IT RUNNING AND IN PARKED POSITION. A CHILD IN THE BACK SEAT GRABBED THE GEAR SHIFTER AND WAS ABLE TO SHIFT VEHICLE INTO THE DRIVE POSITION CAUSING A MINOR COLLISION.
I WAS SITTING IN MY CAR GETTING READY TO LEAVE A PARKING SPACE I BACKED OUT AND THEN I HEARD A POP I DIDN'T KNOW WHERE IT CAME FROM I LOOKED AROUND THE VEHICLE I DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING ONCE I GOT BACK INTO THE VEHICLE I NOTICED THAT MY HEADREST HAD POPPED OUT I WAS NOT HIT BY ANYTHING IT JUST POPPED OUT
BRAKES NEEDED REPLACED LEFT REAR ONLY AFTER 12,000 MILES,1ROTOR WAS SEVERELY CHEWED UP AND PADS,RIGHT SIDE VERY GOOD CONDITION. EVERY BUMP CAUSE PAD TO RUB AND STICK TO ROTOR.
The active head restraint on the passenger side spontaneously deployed while parked. There was no impact leading up to this event. The head restraint appears to have failed due to a faulty plastic clip that split in half. The head restraint is at the height of my passenger's head and, if they had been seated in the chair, the deployed headrest would have hit them at the base of the skull or delivered a blow to the left or right cheekbone and eye. I took the vehicle to my nearest Jeep dealership (Rhythm Jeep in Madison, TN) and they confirmed that the clip holding the release pin in place spontaneously failed. They documented the damage and ordered a new headrest which has not yet been fulfilled (a 9-month wait so far). There were no warning signals or any other indication that the head restraint would fail. Our concern is that the driver's side head restraint will also fail and cause the driver to crash the vehicle or suffer head and neck injury.
PASSENGER SEAT ACTIVE HEAD HEADREST (AHR) DEPLOYED ON ITS OWN WITHOUT ANY ACCIDENT. PLASTIC 'PIN' THAT HOLDS SPRINGS SNAPPED OFF. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, UNOCCUPIED AND PARKED IN DRIVEWAY WHEN DEPLOYED. SOUND COULD BE HEARD OUTSIDE CAR ALERTING ME TO THE DEPLOYMENT.
WHILE DRIVING IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY, SINCE THEN AND GOING FORWARD IT THROWS SAME LIGHTS ON CLUSTER EACH 1/4 MILE!!! MY VEHICLE THROWS A FEW WARNING LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER(E.T.C.AKA ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL, TRACTION CONTROL, AND CHECK ENGINE.) THE VEHICLE STARTS TO SPUTTER AND COMPLETELY COMES TO A STALL. I PULL OVER AS SAFE AS I CAN AND TURN ENGINE OFF THEN BACK ON ONLY TO SEE NO LIGHTS EXCEPT CHECK ENGINE. TRIED TO DRIVE HOME REMAINING SHORT DISTANCE ONLY TO GET SAME LIGHTS THROWN ON INSTRUMENT CLUSTER THEN SPUTTERS AND STALLS OUT.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR HAD A ROUGHY START JUST THREE WEEKS AGO AND I WAS TOLD I HAD A BAD ALTERNATOR MY CAR STOPPED WHEN I WAS DRIVING. THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN THREE WEEKS LATER AND I WAS TOLD MY 2014 JEEP PATRIOT HAD A BAD THROTTLE BODY AND AGAIN MY VEHICLE STOPPED AS IT WAS IN MOTION IN TRAFFIC. THE FIRST TIME IT STOPPED I WAS ON A CITY STREET THE SECOND TIME I HADN'T EVEN CLEARED MY DRIVEWAY IT STOPPED IN THE STREET AND I WAS ABLE TO START IT AGAIN I PARKED IT IN MY DRIVEWAY AND THEN HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP
THE ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT (AHR) IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT SELF-DEPLOYED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED (ENGINE WAS OFF) IN THE DRIVEWAY -NO COLLISION OR EXTERNAL ACTION INVOLVED. THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WAS UNOCCUPIED WHEN THE AHR WAS ACTIVATED. IT APPEARED THAT TWO PLASTIC TABS POSSIBLY USED TO SECURE THE DEVICE IN POSITION HAD SHEARED OFF. AS A RESULT, THE AHR COULD NOT BE PLACED BACK IN ITS ORIGINAL POSITION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2014 JEEP PATRIOT. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN HER DRIVEWAY WITH THE KEY IN THE IGNITION SWITCH AND THE VEHICLE ON AND IT WAS NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING FORWARD INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT WAS NOT IN THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT IMMEDIATELY REACH FOR THE VEHICLE DOOR HANDLE THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY ACCELERATED AND PROCEEDED TO MOVE FORWARD DOWN, THE VEHICLE HIT A FENCE, WENT DOWN A HILL, AND THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP WHEN IT CRASHED INTO THE A TREE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO GO INTO THE PASSENGER DOOR AND TURNED THE VEHICLE ENGINE OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACTS INSURANCE LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 138,486. *BF
BOTH PASSENGER AND DRIVER HEAD REST BUST OPEN WHILE DRIVING - ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT
I have a 2014 2.4L JEEP PATRIOT. I first noticed the problem when I was driving at 75 MPH between Mertzon Texas and Barnhart Texas, where there is no cell service unless you are on top of a hill. Then suddenly the check engine and the oil light came on and the vehicle began to lose speed no matter how much I pushed the gas peddle. The engine felt like it was running out of power and i was unable to accelerate, the engine began to stall and would not allow me to go over 15mph. The problem continued to get worse, while I pulled over and stopped, the engine would idle very heavily and sound rough. When I tried to proceed, the engine would stall, and my foot would be presing down on the gas pedalbut the car would not accelerate. Then after about a minute or the with the gas pedal down to the floor, the vehicle's rpms would jump and the it would go. But it continued the same pattern for about 15 miles, then it just died and would not start again for a few hours, but the issue was still the same, it would start but not move. Another issue is when the vehicle would be in park position and I would try to go in reverse, the engine would sound like it went into reverse, but it would not move, it would stall out and die. I have taken it to so many shops and they can not give an answer, they just say that the motor is blown. The problem is consistent with the NHS Recal-13V552000, so why does it still say that my vin in not affected when actually it is, but nothing is being done.
THE DRIVER SEAT HEADREST DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING OR CAUSE. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY OVERNIGHT, NO CAR OR OBJECT HIT THE CAR. WHEN I GOT IN THE CAR AND PUT IT IN REVERSE I NOTICED THE HEADREST HAD BEEN DEPLOYED. IT WAS POSSIBLE IT HAPPENED OVER NIGHT OR AS THE CAR WAS STATIONARY AND PUT IN REVERSE. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND IS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM ONLINE. THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS AND THIS WILL APPARENTLY COST ME $800 OR MORE TO REPAIR, OR I CAN DRIVE AROUND WITH NO HEAD REST.
ENGINE STALLED, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON CAR RANDOMLY ACCELERATED AND DECELERATED SIMILAR TO PREVIOUS POSTS ABOUT THE ISSUES ON 2014 JEEP PATRIOT
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Patriot with Champion Spark plugs (Part Number: 318) installed in the vehicle. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 mph, there was a loud sound coming from the engine before the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer to be diagnosed. the contact was informed that the spark plug had imploded and damaged the engine. The contact indicated that the spark plugs were installed approximately 9 month prior to the failure. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.
SITTING AT A RED LIGHT, VEHICLE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON FOLLOWED BY THE THROTTLE WARNING LIGHT. VEHICLE LOST POWER AND ENGINE FELT LIKE IT WOULD STALL. VEHICLE WOULD ONLY DRIVE AT VERY LOW SPEED TO GET TO SAFETY. AFTER RESTARTING, ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON, VEHICLE WAS DRIVABLE BUT SOON FAILED AGAIN WITHIN A FEW MILES AND THE THROTTLE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT MAY COME ON AS WELL. WAS TOO CONCERNED WITH GETTING TO SAFETY TO KNOW FOR SURE.
THE MUFFLER MELTED THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE. IT ALMOST CAUGHT FIRE AFTER 2 HOURS ON THE ROAD WITH NO INDICATION. WE MANAGED TO PUSH MUFFLER DOWN AND IT STOPPED MELTING THE PLASTIC. WE STOPPED FOR GAS AND SAW THE DAMAGE. I DID NOT NOTICE THE MUFFLER WAS STUCK IN THE UPWARD POSITION BEFORE THE TRIP SO IT WAS NOT A CONCERN UNTIL WE STOPPED. WE WERE ON INTERSTATE 25 SOUTHBOUND RIGHT OUT OF ALBUQUERQUE, NM.
THE PASSENGER HEAD REST POPPED PUT WHILE BEING PARKED IN THE DRIVE WAY. IVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ON LINE AND NO RECALLS FOR IT. BUT APPEARS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE PLASTIC PIN BREAKING INSIDE OF THE HEAD REST AND IT DEPLOYING WITH OUT ANY IMPACT. NO ONE WAS SITTING THERE THANKFULLY OTHERWISE THEY WOULDA GOT WHACKED BY IT.
I HAVE TO PROTEST TO CALL STABILITY CONTROL TO BE SAFE DEVICE. IN OVER 120 000 MILES ON THE TIERS I REPLACED IF REMEMBER RIGHT: 6 SETS OF BREAKS SETS, 5 NEW NEW ROTORS, 2 CALIPERS BREAKS ASSEMBLE, FRONT HOUSE BREAKS LINE. DRIVING ON THE STRAIGHT HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ENGAGE THE BREAKS AT RANDOM. SOME TIME MAKING ME SEE SICK. I REMEMBER DRIVING 60 MILES AN HOUR THE BRAKES ENGAGE NEARLY PUSHED ME IN TO ANOTHER CAR. RECENTLY TRAVEL TO MOUTON REGAIN. THE BREAKS SLOWING ME DOWN. FOR NO KNOW CAUSE. I NOTICED DANGER PATER TOO. WHEN I MAKE A TURN IN THE WINDING ROAD, THE CAR IS GETTING EXTREMELY DANGERS. THE CAR BRAKING DOWN WHEN I INTEND TO ACCELERATE. THIS COLLISION OF INTEREST RESULTING IN: MY TRANSMISSION IS DOWN STEPS GOOD, THE RPM GO TO EXTREME. FIRST FROM 1,500 RACE TO 2000 THEN 3000 THEN 5000 SLOWING DOWN THE CAR. WHEN FINELY BREAKS ARE RELEASED IT KICK LIKE A MULE TRYING TO FORCE ME OF THE ROUTE. DON'T KNOW WAY ANY ONE NEED THAT TIP OF TRACTION CONTROL?. THIS IS MY SECOND VEHICLE IN THE ROW, THAT HAVE COMPUTER PROBLEM TO. RANDOM ACTION ON IN AND OUT COMPONENTS. THE LAST ONE DODGE ACCLAIM FORCED TO TRADE IN BECAUSE COMPUTER REPLACEMENT DID NOT SOLVED PROBLEM, I TESTED ABS BREAKS ON SLOW SPEED. IT WAS ONLY A TEST 10 MILES AN HOUR. I END UP I DITCH. IT WAS A WINTER SNOW. ONLY A TEST, MINER DAMAGE TO PLASTIC FENDER. IS IT PASSABLE TO RETURN TO REGULAR BREAKS, THAT WORK. THE ENGINE CONTROL UNIT PROHIBIT THAT ACTION SANCTION BY STATE INSPECTION. ( NO INSPECTION CAN BE PASS WHEN WARNING LIGHT IS ON). CAN ANY WAY I CAN GET REPLACEMENT FOR: GENERIC COMPUTER? GENERIC BREAKS SYSTEM? MAYBE I CAN GET WAIVE FOR INSTALLATION OF THAT SYSTEM? I AM A INDUSTRIAL MECHANIC BY TRADE AND PASSION. CAN EASY WIRED ANY COMPONENTS I NEED. [XXX]. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
IMPOSSIBLE TO FILL GAS TANK BECAUSE TANK INPUT TUBE IS BLOCKED. CAN FILL ON A DROP BY DROP BASIS, BUT TAKES ALMOST HALF AN HOUR.
AFTER FILLING UP MY VEHICLE THE CAR STUDDERS AND STOP IN TRAFFIC. WHEN TRYING TO MOVE FORWARD BY PRESSING THE GAS IT WON'T MOVE UNTIL I TURN THE CAR COMPLETELY OFF. ONCE I RESTART THE VEHICLE IT MOVES AGAIN. THIS IS HAZARDOUS TO MY FAMILY AND SELF.
THE DASHBOARD STARTING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE ALL THE WAY OVER TO THE STEERING COLUMN CAUGHT FIRE AND MELTED THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD.I PARKED MY CAR AROUND 9PM AND WENT BACK OUT AROUND 11:30PM TO GET SOMETHING OUT AND FOUND MY DASHBOARD COMPLETELY MELTED. I WAS TOLD BY THE FIRE COMPANY THAT BECAUSE THE WINDOWS WERE ALL CLOSED TIGHTLY THE FIRE SMOTHERED ITSELF. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE BODY SHOP AND THEY CALLED AND TOLD ME IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. MY CAR WAS TOTALED.
PASSENGER FRONT ACTIVE RESTRAINT HEADREST DEPLOYED UNEXPECTEDLY WHEN PARKED IN DRIVEWAY. THIS WAS DUE TO A BROKEN PLASTIC PIN RETAINING PIECE IN HEADREST. DEFECTIVE HEADREST DEPLOYED CAUSING PASSENGER TO BE STRUCK IN BACK OF HEAD WHILE PARKED, NO ACCIDENT OCCURED.
I PULLED UP IN FRONT OF A STORE TO LOAD SOME THINGS INTO MY CAR. THE CAR WAS IN PARK AND LEFT RUNNING. IT ONLY TOOK A FEW MINUTES TO LOAD THE CAR. WHEN I RETURNED TO THE DRIVER'S SEAT, I NOTICED MY HEADREST HAD POPPED OPEN. I LOOKED IT UP ON MY PHONE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT (AHR) HAD BEEN ACTIVATED. DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS, I DROVE STRAIGHT HOME AND DIDN'T DRIVE THE VEHICLE AGAIN UNTIL I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON MONDAY NIGHT. THE INCIDENT HAPPENED ON SATURDAY. I AM THANKFUL THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN WHILE I WAS DRIVING - IT COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
THE CVT TRANSMISSION WILL MAKE A LOUD WHINE AND NOT GO OVER 40 MPH . USUAL HAPPENS AFTER ABOUT 30 MIN OF DRIVING AND WILL NOT SHOW ANY CODES. THIS HAPPENS DURING ACCELERATION AND YOU HAVE TO PULL OVER AND WAIT BEFORE IT WILL RESUME SOMEWHAT NORMAL OPERATION .
MY VEHICLE TEND TO JUMP GEARS AND TRANSMISSION IS RUNNING HARD AND WOULD NOT GET UP TO 40 MILES A HOUR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP PATRIOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HATCH FAILED TO OPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ACTUATOR FAILED AND THERE WAS NO BYPASS KEY SYSTEM. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,000.
I BOUGHT MY JEEP ON THURSDAY JANUARY 23RD 2020. WE WENT CAMPING OVER MEMORIAL DAY THE 25TH OF MAY 2020 ABOUT A WEEK LATER MY TIRE LITERALLY SHREDDED AND IT BENT MY RIM, AND CAUSED ME TO TAKE MY CAR IN AND THE TIRE SHOP SAID I NEED ALL 4 NEW TIRES. THE GUY AT THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME MY TIRES HAD LOTS OF TREAD LEFT AND THEY WOULD BE GOOD FOR AT LEAST ANOTHER YEAR MAYBE LONGER DEPENDING ON HOW MUCH I DROVE THE CAR!
