TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP PATRIOT. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO RE-ENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL. WITHOUT WARNING, THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED UP A HILL. THE CONTACT HAD TO FORCEFULLY DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DEACTIVATED THE CRUISE CONTROL AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 137,000.
WHILE DRIVING IN THE CITY AT ABOUT 30 MPH MY ETC LIGHT COMES ON AND CAR STARTS TO SLOW AND WILL NOT LET ME ACCELERATE. ALSO AS SOON AS I STOP AND START TO GO MY CAR MOVES VERY SLOWLY ABOUT 10MPH AND SOMETIMES THE ETC LIGHT AND STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT WILL COME ON AND MY CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE OVER 15/20MPH AT ALL UNTIL I STOP AND TRY TO GO AGAIN. SOMETIMES IT'S SO BAD THAT I HAVE TO STOP AND SHUT OFF MY CAR AND START IT AGAIN FOR IT TO FIX ITSELF. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY WHEN GOING ACROSS THE ROAD OR TURNING WHEN OTHER CARS ARE COMING. NEVER MIND HOW DANG IT IS IF IT IS TO HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY, WHICH I HAVE AVOIDED SINCE I DON'T FEEL LIKE DYING ANYTIME SOON. EVERYTHING I READ ON THE INTERNET IS SAYING THAT IT'S BEEN HAPPENING TO MANY PEOPLE THAT HAVE 2014 JEEP PATRIOTS. THIS IS HONESTLY SOMETHING THAT IS GOING TO GET SOMEONE SERIOUSLY HURT AND AT NO FAULT OF THEIR OWN. I'VE ALSO READ ABOUT A RECALL ON AN ENGINE PART FROM 2013 IN THE 2014 PATRIOTS WITH A 2.4L ENGINE AND I AM JUST WONDERING WHY WHEN I LOOK UP RECALLS FOR MY CAR THAT SPECIFIC ONE DOES NOT SHOW UP. IF SOMETHING IS WRONG AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED OWNERS SHOULD BE NOTIFIED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT.
TAKATA RECALL THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THIS HAPPENED 3 MONTHS APART. TODAY I WAS GOING 45 MPH DRIVING FOR 3 MINUTES AND MY TRACK LIGHT, BATTERY LIGHT, AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I LOST PRESSURE IN THE ACCELERATION AND COULD ONLY MOVE 20 MPH. I PULLED OVER TO TURN MY CAR OFF AND BACK ON, THEN IT WORKED LIKE NOTHING WAS WRONG. THIS ALSO HAS HAPPENED 3 MONTHS AGO ON THE BYPASS GOING 70 MPH AND I HAD CHILDREN IN THE CAR. I THOUGHT WE WERE GOING TO DIE. SO WE PULLED OFF THE ROAD TO LET IT COOL DOWN AND ALL THE LIGHTS WENT AWAY AND RAN AS IF NOTHING WAS WRONG. VERY SCARY.
WHEN DRIVING ON HIGHWAYS AND CITY STREETS THE WHOLE DASHBOARD LIGHTS UP WITH ALL THE WARNING SYMBOLS. EVERYTHING IN THE DASHBOARD INCLUDING THE SPEEDOMOTER RESETS TO ZERO LIGHTS UP AND THEN GOES OFF AND ON FOR A COUPLE OF MILES. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE CAR SYSTEM IS TRYING TO CLICK ON AND OFF OR READJUST. I THEN AM NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE ABOVE 40MPH WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAYS, CITY STREETS AND TURNING. THE TRACTION LIGHT IS ON ALTHOUGH I DO NOT MANUALLY HAVE IT ON AND SPUTTERS WHEN TURNING ON CITY STREETS AND GRINDS GEARS AND GETS STUCK NOT ALLOWING ME TO ACCELERATE ABOVE 20MPH. AFTER RECEIVING A DIAGNOSTICS FROM A JEEP DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THAT THE ABOVE STATED ISSUES COULD BE RELATED TO THE THROTTLE BODY SYSTEM. THE ISSUES ARE STILL OCCURING AFTER MULPTILE MECHANIC CHECKS.
I'VE HAD 2 NEW 2014 JEEP PATRIOTS, AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL HAS FAILED ON BOTH WHILE HIGHWAY DRIVING AT 65MPH, LEAVING CARS WITH NO ENGINE POWER OR POWER STEERING. SOMEBODY WILL DIE ONE DAY IN THIS CAR. I JUNKED THE FIRST ONE AFTER REPAIRING THE ETC, AND NOW IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN ON THE 2ND ONE. PLEASE GOOGLE THE SUBJECT AND SEE THOUSANDS OF OTHERS W/SAME ISSUE. JEEP REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE DEALERSHIP LEVEL, AND WILL NOT REPAIR OR REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PART. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN TWICE ON 2 NEW 015 PATRIOTS PURCHASED FROM THE SAME DEALER IN MARIETTA, GA. THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY DEFECTIVE IN THESE ETCS, AND I AM LUCKY MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER WERE ABLE TO NEGOTIATE THEMSELVES OFF THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT GETTING MAIMED OR KILLED. JEEP NEEDS TO BE BROUGHT TO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT, AND RECALL ON THIS VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE.
TAMARA RECALL TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN MY 2014 JEEP PATRIOT THROTTLE BODY WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING AND ALMOST CAUSED A CRASH I LOOKED UP ON THE JEEP FORUM AND THEIR IS THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME YEAR AND MAKE WITH THE SAME ISSUES ALOT OF THEM CAUSED RECKS FROM THROTTLE BODY ISSUES, WHAT HAPPEN WAS I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND CAME TO A STOP SIGN AND THEN MY ETC LIGHT AND CHECK ENGEINE LIGHT CAME ON BLINKING AND THEN WITH MY FOOT COMPLETLY ON THE BREAK AND I JUST GOT NEW BREAKS DONE A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO , MY JEEP STARTED TO REV AND THE RPMS WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE RED AND MY JEEP WAS OFF BUCKING AND WENT STRAIGHT AHEAD WHILE MY FOOT IS STILL ON THE BREAK I WAS COMPLETELY NOT IN CONTROL OF MY JEEP AND I WAS HEADING RIGHT INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE I SLAMMED ON MY HORN AND PUT MY HAZARDS ON AND THE OTHER PERSON SLAMMED ON THEIR BREAKS, I WAS ABLE TO COAST OFF THE ROAD BECAUSE IT WPULDNT GO OVER 20 MPH AFTER THAT AND TURN MY JEEP OFF AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK AND SENT IT TO THE SHOP , AND THEY CALLED ME SAYING IT WAS THROTTLE CONTROL BODY WENT OUT AND SAYING ITS GOING TO BE LIKE 600 DOLLARS TO FIX. IT WAS THE MOST SCARIEST AND DANGEROUS THING I'VE EVER SEEN HAPPEN WITH VEHICLES. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY SEEMED LIKE THEY UNDERSTOOD THIS HAS BEEN A PROMBLEM AND THEY JUST DID NOT CARE THE BELOW PICTURES ARE JUST SOME OF THE PEOPLE THAT WENT THRU THE SAME THING ITS CALLED JEEP FORUM. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP PATRIOT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND DECELERATED TO APPROXIMATELY 1 MPH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LIGHTNING BOLT WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000.
THROTTLE BODY HOUSING FAILURE: WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ON AN INTERSTATE WITH SPEED LIMIT OF 60MPH, VEHICLE WOULD DECELERATE FROM 50MPH DOWN TO 20MPH AND WOULD NOT SPEED UP REGARDLESS OF HOW I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL. THE ESC, ETC, AND MIL INDICATORS BEGAN TO FLASH AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SPEED ABOVE 20-30MPH. I HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A LOCAL DODGE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE AS NEEDING A REPLACEMENT THROTTLE BODY HOUSING AT A COST OF $880 FOR THAT REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT OF A LEAKING COOLANT / RADIATOR HOSE.
MY 2014 JEEP PATRIOT JUST EXPERIENCED TRANSMISSION FAILURE. IT HAS 91,000 MILES ON IT, BUT HAS BEEN PROPERLY MAINTENANCED. THE INPUT SHAFT BEARING STARTED MAKING GRINDING AND WHINING NOISES WHEN THE CLUTCH WAS LET OUT WHILE PARKED AND DRIVING. SOON HAD TROUBLES SHIFTING AND MY TRANSMISSION NOT WANTING TO GO INTO GEAR. I LOOKED ON THE INTERNET FOR A REMEDY AND NOTICED THOUSAND OF COMPLAINTS RELATED TO THIS SAME ISSUE INVOLVING MOST JEEP VEHICLES. ONE VEHICLE ONLY HAD 31,000 MILES WHEN THEIR TRANSMISSION FAILED. MY VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE AUTOMOTIVE SHOP. THEY STATED THAT I HAVE 3 OPTIONS WHICH INCLUDE REBUILD MY CURRENT TRANSMISSION (WHICH MAY BE A TOTAL LOSS) , BUY A USED TRAMSMISSION ( NO GUARANTEE OF WHEN ANOTHER FAILURE WILL OCCUR), OR BUY A NEW TRANSMISSION FROM THE DEALERSHIP (NO GUARANTEE OF WHEN FAILURE WILL OCCUR). THE AUTOMOTIVE SHOP STATED THAT THERE IS A PARTS SHORTAGE DUE TO THIS ISSUE AND MAY NOT BE ABLE TO OBTAIN THE PARTS TO REBUILD THE TRANSMISSION AND ALSO LACK OF USED TRANSMISSIONS DUE TO THE SAME ISSUE. I JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE 1 YEAR AGO AND WILL HAVE TO PAY THOUSANDS TO FIX IT DUE TO A KNOWN PROBLEM IN THE AUTOMOTIVE COMMUNITY WITHOUT ANY GUARANTEE OF WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. THE OWNER OF MY LOCAL AUTOMOTIVE SHOP TOLD ME TO SELL IT BECAUSE OF THE KNOWN TRANSMISSION FAILURE. I SAVED MONEY TO BUY THIS JEEP WITH CASH AND DO NOT HAVE THE FUNDS TO CONTINUALLY REPLACE TRANSMISSIONS IN IT. BIG PROBLEM FOR JEEP AND QUALITY OF THEIR PRODUCTS. BIGGER PROBLEM FOR THE OWNERS THAT ARE PAYING THOUSANDS TO FIX THEIR VEHICLES. THEIR TRANSMISSIOMS SHOULD BE RECALLED DUE TO NOT MODEL SPECIFIC. ALL JEEP MODELS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. I CANNOT BELIEVE THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE ALREADY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RENTSCHLER CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (255 N WALNUT ST, SLATINGTON, PA 18080, (610) 767-1171) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY AT THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
VEHICLE SPUTTERS WHEN ACCELERATING AS IF LOSING OIL PRESSURE. IT'S SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH TO NOT WANT TO TURN OR PULLOUT INTO TRAFFIC UNLESS THERE IS A LARGE AND SAFE DISTANCE BETWEEN OTHER VEHICLES FROM FEAR OF STALLING OR JUST NOT ACCELERATING FAST ENOUGH.
WAS NEVER PROPERLY NOTIFIED ABOUT THE RECALL. IT WAS POSTED SEPT. 13, 2016. IT IS NOW SEPT. 16, 2018

I HAVE TAKEN IT TO MECHANIC AND THEY SAY THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. IVE HAD THAT REPLACED SBOUT 2 YRS AGO...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP PATRIOT. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH AT NIGHT, THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT BELT MALFUNCTIONED. UPON COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, THE SEAT BELT GRADUALLY TIGHTENED AROUND THE CHILD. THE CONTACT MADE MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO LOOSEN THE SEAT BELT AND HAD TO CUT IT TO REMOVE THE CHILD FROM THE RESTRAINT SYSTEM. A DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,872.
LOSS OF POWER UPON ACCELERATION. DIAGNOSTIC REVEALED DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY AND ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR REQUIRING REPLACEMENT. MECHANIC SAYS IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2014 JEEP PATRIOT AND THAT THEY HAVE REPLACED MANY ON THIS VEHICLE
WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE AND IN MOTION, THE ENGINE WOULD DECELERATE AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL AND ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL INDICATORS WOULD APPEAR ON DASH. THIS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES AND IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN TRAVELLING ON THE INTERSTATE OR STATE HIGHWAYS. CHECKING NUMEROUS WEBSITES, IT APPEARS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH JEEPS AND THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED WITH THIS MAKE/MODEL AND MANUFACTURER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP PATRIOT. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE SLIP INDICATOR, CHECK ENGINE, AND THROTTLE CONTROL INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER; HOWEVER, AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC CAME TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE, RESET THE VEHICLE, AND CHANGED THE OIL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED A WEEK LATER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V552000 (ENGINE). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
MY 2014 JEEP PATRIOT WILL NOT ACCELERATE AND HAS HESITATION AFTER ACCELERATION AT A STOP SIGNAL OR SIGN. I USE "PREMIUM" GAS, THINKING THAT REGULAR GAS WAS THE ISSUE. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN 2 SEPARATE ACCIDENTS, ONE RECENT SITUATION ON 8/13/2018 WHEN MY PATRIOT "HESITATED" AFTER TURNING ONTO A ROAD WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC. MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE CAUSING THE PERSON BEHIND ME TO "HARD BRAKE" TO NOT HIT ME, AS WELL AS THE DRIVER BEHIND HIM. I HAVE ONLY HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR 4 MONTHS AND DO NOT FEEL THIS IS A SAFE VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY DRIVING IN CITY TRAFFIC.
TAKATA RECALL. MY CAR HAS AROUND 35,000 MILES ON IT. THE PAST FEW DAYS IN THE MORNING, WHEN I START MY CAR, IT STARTS BUT THEN HESITATES. IT WILL HESITATE FOR AROUND 20 SECONDS. THE CAR WAS IN PARK, IN A DRIVEWAY OF A HOUSE. I THINK IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR HAS BEEN OFF FOR A PERIOD OF TIME.
THE VEHICLE STARTS TO REV UP REALLY HIGH AND THEN BEGINS TO PUT ALONE TURN IT OFF THE LIGHT GOES OUT THE FIVE MINUTES INTO DRIVING AND COMES BACK ON AND ALMOST CUTS OFF IN MID TRAFFIC
WHILE DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED OR IDLING AT A STOP SIGN THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. WHEN THIS HAPPENS I MUST PUT MY CAR IN PARK, SHUT THE CAR COMPLETELY OFF, THEN RESTART, SOMETIMES THIS HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIMES IN ONE DAY. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE ON CITY STREET, HIGHWAYS, WHILE TURNING AND WHILE STOPPED, IT HAS BECOME UNSAFE AND UNRELIABLE TO DRIVE. I AM STILL UNAWARE OF WHAT THE ISSUE IS AND HAVE REPLACED SEVERAL COMPONENTS ON THE VEHICLE THAT I THINK COULD HAVE BEEN LINKED: BATTERY, THROTTLE BODY, SPARK PLUGS, CAM SENSORS, RUNNER VALVE, AND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. NONE OF THESE REPLACEMENTS HAS FIXED THIS ISSUE. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE WITH JEEP (N52) AND WHEN I CALLED TO TELL THEM MY VEHICLE IS HAVING THIS ISSUE THEY JUST TOLD ME THEY WOULD MAKE A NOTE, AND THEY COULD NOT AUTHORIZE A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. I ASKED THEM IF I TOOK IT INTO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP TO GET A DIAGNOSTIC AND THEY FOUND THIS TO BE THE ISSUE COULD THEY ISSUE THEY RECALL THEN THEY TOLD ME NO AND IT WOULD HAVE TO COME OUT OF MY OWN EXPENSES.
TOTAL CONTROL POWER MODULE (TIPM) FAILURE. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD JEEP PATRIOTS LIGHTS STARTED FLICKERING, THE MOST OF THE DASH LIGHTS CAME ON. WHEN PULLING OVER THE VEHICLE STALLED AND LOST ASSISTED BRAKING AND POWER STEERING. ONCE STOPPED TURNED THE KEY OFF AND REGAINED COMPOSURE. AFTER IT SAT FOR A FEW SECOND THE JEEP STARTED RIGHT BACK UP AND WAS FINE. TOOK THE JEEP TO A LOCAL STORE TO HAVE THE STARTING AND CHARGING SYSTEM CHECKED AND WAS TOLD THAT EVERYTHING WAS OPERATING WITHIN NORMAL PARAMETERS. SINCE THEN WE HAVE HAD MULTIPLE REPEAT OCCURRENCES AND NOW THE JEEP HAS TO BE JUMP STARTED IF YOU WANT IT TO RUN. THE JEEP WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A BAD TIPM TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER UNIT. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND THUS MY VEHICLE IS NOW PARKED. THIS IS THE FIRST JEEP THAT I HAVE OWNED BUT DO NOT THINK THEIR WILL BE ANOTHER BEINGS THAT DODGE IS NOT WANTING TO CLAIM RESPONSIBILITY AND CORRECT THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP PATRIOT. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO HESITATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V552000 (ENGINE). THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINTS (AHR) WERE TRIGGERED IN JULY 2018 WITHOUT MY CAR SUFFERING AN IMPACT. IN BOTH CASES, THE CAR WAS PARKED LIKE USUAL AT MY HOUSE OVERNIGHT AND I FOUND THE HEADRESTS TRIGGERED IN THE MORNING. I HAVE NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENTS, THERE IS NO IMPACT DAMAGE, AND THE CAR WAS NOT IN MOTION WHEN THEY TRIGGERED. I WAS UNABLE TO RESET THEM PER THE MANUAL, SO I BROUGHT IT TO MY JEEP DEALERSHIP ON AUGUST 8TH AND MY SERVICE REP SAID HE HAD ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHAT WAS WRONG. HE LATER CALLED TO QUOTE ME ABOUT $1,400 TO REPLACE BOTH HEADRESTS AND HE TOLD ME I WOULD PROBABLY WANT TO SKIP REPLACING THEM; TO KEEP THEM AS-IS TO AVOID THE COSTS. AT NO TIME WAS IT EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THIS WAS A SAFETY FEATURE WITH A BROKEN PIECE. WHEN I SEARCHED ONLINE FOR REPLACEMENT HEADRESTS, I WAS ABLE TO LEARN THAT THIS IS A SAFETY FEATURE THAT MALFUNCTIONED AND HAS AFFECTED OTHER DRIVERS. THIS MALFUNCTION POSES A RISK TO DRIVERS IF IT HAPPENS WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION (I WAS LUCKY). A SMALL PIECE IN THE HEADREST IS ALSO BREAKING, PREVENTING THE RESTRAINTS FROM BEING RESET AND COSTING OWNERS THE HIGH PRICE OF REPLACING THE HEADRESTS. I, LIKE MANY, AM NO LONGER COVERED UNDER WARRANTY FOR THIS LARGE COST, WHICH SHOULD BE COVERED BY JEEP GIVEN ITS SERIOUSNESS AND FREQUENCY. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. MY BIGGEST CONCERN IS THAT MY JEEP DEALERSHIP ACTUALLY SUGGESTED THAT I KEEP MY HEADRESTS AS THEY ARE, ALLOWING ME TO CONTINUE DRIVING WITH THIS SAFETY RESTRAINT ACTIVATED, WHICH CAN DO MORE HARM SHOULD I BE IN AN ACCIDENT. THEY ALSO FAILED TO EXPLAIN OR PROPERLY EDUCATE ME ABOUT THE AHR'S AND THE REASON THEY COULD NOT BE RESET. THEIR OMISSION OF THESE FACTS COUPLED WITH THE SAFETY CONCERNS REGARDING THIS SAFETY FEATURE MALFUNCTION CAN PUT OTHER DRIVERS AT RISK.
MY CAR IS 5 YEARS OLD. DURING HIGHWAY DRIVES (1-2 HOURS), THE ENGINE STALLS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY AND IS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN SPEED. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE.
I HAVE A 2014 JEEP PATRIOT WITH ABOUT 33,474 MILES WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURRED. I WAS DRIVING GOING HOME IN A BUSY STREET IN LOS ANGELES WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT (MIL) AND ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC) (SEE PHOTOS) LIGHT SHOWED UP ON THE DASHBOARD AND I STOPPED BECAUSE THE TRAFFIC LIGHT TURNED RED. I HAD 3 PASSENGERS WITH ME AND THEY WERE TRYING TO GOOGLE WHAT THE DASHBOARD LIGHT MEANS. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I STARTED TO DRIVE BUT THE ENGINE WAS STALLING, AS IF IT DOESN'T WANT TO DRIVE, NO POWER. SO I PARKED AT THE CURB, TURNED OFF THE IGNITION AND WAITED FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN TURNED THE IGNITION ON AGAIN. THE ESC DISAPPEARED FROM THE DASHBOARD BUT THE MIL REMAINED LIT UP. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME AND THE NEXT DAY, TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC. MY MECHANIC REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AND IT'S WORKING FINE NOW. I NOTICED THE DIFFERENCE IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THE VEHICLE BEFORE AND AFTER THE THROTTLE WAS CHANGED. I AM REPORTING THIS TO YOU BECAUSE I HAVE HEARD NEWS AND GOT A LETTER FROM A LAW FIRM INFORMING ME OF A NUMBER OF MECHANICAL DEFECTS REPORTED ABOUT THE VEHICLE. AT THIS POINT, I AM TOO LATE TO BRING IT TO A JEEP DEALER FOR REPAIR BECAUSE THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY DOING 65 AND THE JERKED HARD AND THE POWER OF THE CAR DROPED DOWN TO ABOUT 20 MPH ALMOST CAUSING ME TO GET INTO A CRASH WITH CARS BEHIND ME A RED LIGHING BOLT LITE UP ON THE DASH AS THIS WAS HAPPENING AND AT THAT SAME TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IF I PRESSED ON THE GAS NOTHING BUT RPM WENT UP AND THE CAR WOULD NOT GO OVER 20 MPH THE LIGHTS STOPPED AND THE CAR WENT BACK TO NORMAL BARELY MAKING IT HOME SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN IT'S THE ETC LIGHT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND ESC STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT ALL COME ON AND YOU LOSE POWER TO ACELRATE.

DRIVING MY NRKMAL ROUTE TO TAKE MY SON TO HIS SUMMER PROGRAM.(CITY STREET, 24MPH SPEED LIMIT) ON ARRIVAL, ONLY DRIVING 3 MILES FROM MY HOME, MY RPMS WERE WELL OVER 2000 AT A STOP LIGHT. THE CAR BEGAN STO SHAKE. THE ENGINE LIGHT, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT, AND STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT COME ON. I PULLED OVER THE THE NEAREST GAS STATION. TURNED CAR OFF AND BACK IN AGAIN. RPMS OVER 2500. THEY DIED DOWN AFTER 2 MIN. ALL LIGHTS STILL FLASHING. GOT IT TO SOMEWHERE YO HAVE CODES READ. "HIGH AIRFLOW VACUUM LEAK". NURSED IT HOME,.COULD NOT GO OVER 20MP. ANYTHING OVER 20MPH THE CAR SHOOK VIOLENTLY. RPMS WERE OVER 2000. ALL OF THIS DRIVING WAS KN CITY STREETS WITH SPEED LIMITS NOT GOING OVER 35MPH. WE TRIED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY TODAY. STILL HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. JEEP ON NEUTRAL (MANUAL TRANNY) RPMS OVER 2000 STILL.

I DRIVE ON THE INTERSTATE ALMOST DAILY AND THIS ISSUE IS VERY DANGEROUS.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 65,000.
SAFETY HEADREST FAILURE. AHR (ACTIVE HEADREST RESTRAINT) FAILURE. WAS DRIVING AT 25MPH, PASSENGER HEADREST EXPLODED CAUSING LOUD NOISE AND DISTRACTED MY DRIVING. PULLED OVER TO INSPECT MY VEHICLE AND FOUND THE PASSENGER HEADREST WAS DEPLOYED. THIS IS A SAFETY FEATURE THAT IS INTENDED TO ENGAGE DURING A COLLISION. I WAS NEVER INVOLVED IN A COLLISION IN THIS VEHICLE. JEEP HAS BEEN CONTACTED REGARDING THIS ISSUE WITH LITTLE RESOLUTION. VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 40,000 MILES, BASIC SAFETY EQUIPMENT SHOULD NOT BE FAILING AT THIS POINT.

NOW, A FEW MONTHS LATER AND LESS THAN 150 MILES DRIVEN, I HAD MY VEHICLE COMPLETELY LOSE ALL POWER AS I WAS DRIVING 45 MPH IN HEAVY CITY TRAFFIC. I AM PETRIFIED TO DRIVE THIS DEATH TRAP

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,660.
I HAVE SPENT OVER $1500 ON REPAIR OF AN ELECTRICAL THROTTLE BODY AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND I STILL HAVE ENGINE STALLING AND NOT BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE CARS SLOWS ON ITS OWN I CAN'T DRIVE MORE THAN 20MPH
MY 2014 JEEP PATRIOT WILL NOT ACCELERATE WITHOUT HAVING HESITATION. THE VEHICLE HAS 64,000 MILES ON IT. WHEN YOU PRESS ON THE GAS WHETHER YOU ARE MOVING OR STOPPED, IT ALMOST STALLS AND THEN HAS TO RESET IT SELF TO GO ABOVE 30MPH. THE ETC LIGHT COMES ON AND THEN DISAPPEARS. THIS HAS HAPPENED ALL WEEK. SEEING HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE ON THIS SITE AND OTHERS, THERE SHOULD DEFINITELY BE A RECALL. THIS IS A DANGEROUS AND SCARY SITUATION FOR A VEHICLE THAT IS NOT EVEN 5 YEARS OLD TO SLOW AND/OR STOP WHILE YOU ARE TRYING TO ACCELERATE.

THE DASH LIGHTS OF A LIGHTING BOLT AND TRACTION CONTROL COME ON. THE JEEP STARTS LURCHING AND SPUTTERING. THE MAX SPEED GOES TO ABOUT 25 MILES PER HOURS. THIS HAS HAPPENED 5 TIMES AND THE DEALERS CAN'T TELL ME WHAT'S WRONG, NO CODES APPEAR. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE AND I AM PAYING FOR A VEHICLE THAT CAN'T BE DRIVEN.
Rollover valve in fuel tank sticks, causing gas pump to constantly shut off when filling tank. It is a known issue to Jeep/Chrysler, but they will not issue recall for the Jeep Patriot.
I AM WRITING IN REGARDS TO AN ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING WITH MY JEEP PATRIOT THAT UPON FURTHER RESEARCH SEEMS TO BE PLAGUING MANY PATRIOT OWNERS AS WELL WITH NO SOLUTION. RANDOMLY MY VEHICLE WOULD LOSE ACCELERATION AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT WOULD LIGHT. WHEN THIS WOULD HAPPEN I WOULD LOSE THE POWER TO ACCELERATE AND WOULD HAVE TO PULL OVER AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. ONCE RESTARTED THE PROBLEM WOULD NO LONGER BE THERE AS IF IT DIDN'T HAPPEN. SOMETIMES THE 4WD AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT WOULD IGNITE DURING THESE EPISODES. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSTICS, BUT NOTHING POPPED ON THEIR END AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE ONLY WAY FOR THEM TO KNOW WHAT IS WRONG IS IF IT HAPPENS WHEN THEY HAVE IT. BEING THERE CAN BE A WEEK OR MORE BETWEEN EPISODES THIS ISN'T FEASIBLE. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND FIXED BY THE MANUFACTURER BEING IT'S DANGEROUS FOR THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS. JUST TWO WEEKS AGO MY VEHICLE HAD THIS EPISODE OCCUR WHILE CROSSING AN INTERSECTION. THANKFULLY I MANAGED TO MAKE IT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION WITHOUT INCIDENT BUT BEING A PREGNANT MOTHER DRIVING HER TODDLER AROUND THIS SITUATION COULD OF COST US OUR LIVES. TONIGHT MY CAR DID THE SAME AND I NEARLY GOT HIT BECAUSE I LOST ACCELERATION SUDDENLY ON A 55MPH ROAD. THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A SAFE PLACE BUT NOW MY VEHICLE IS NO LONGER DRIVABLE AND WILL HAVE TO BE TOWED TO BE FIXED. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 72000 MILES ON IT .

IT APPEARS TO BE THE THROTTLE BODY. LOOKING AROUND THE INTERNET, IT IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE. RIDICULOUS AT JUST 15,983 MILES

I WAS STATIONARY AT THE TRAFFIC LIGHT AND AS I BEGAN TO TAKE OFF THE CAR WOULD NOT GO OVER 5 OR 10 MILES/HR AND I WOULD HAVE TO IMMEDIATELY RESTART. ONCE I HAVE RESTARTED MY VEHICLE IT WILL START AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED. I WAS ALMOST REAR-ENDED BY SEMI TRUCK ON THE FREEWAY AND SEVERAL OTHER SEVERAL TIMES WITH KIDS AND OTHERS FAMILY MEMBERS IN MY VEHICLE. THIS IS VERY HAZARDOUS TO NOT ONLY MY SELF, BUT ANYONE ON THE ROAD WHILE I AM DRIVING. I HAVE TAKEN MY AUTOMOBILE TO THE SHOP ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY CAN NOT DUPLICATE IT ON DEMAND. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS SITUATION AND I ONLY PRAY THAT SOMEONE WITH A MORE AUTHORITY WILL TAKE A STANCE AND GET THIS PROBLEM RESOLVED. MEANWHILE, I AM HAVING TO SPEND UNNECESSARY MONEY ON RENTAL CARS, WHILE PAYING A CAR NOTE. THIS IS UNHEARD OF AND I AM PRAYING THAT A LIFE WILL NOT BE LOST DUE TO THIS PROBLEM NOT BEING RESOLVED!
