BRAKES NEEDED REPLACED LEFT SIDE ONLY AT 30,000 MILES,1ROTOR AND PADS,RIGHT SIDE VERY GOOD CONDITION
WHEN VEHICLE OPERATES IN MOUNTAINOUS HIGHWAYS REQUIRING 3000-3500 RPM FOR CONTINUOUS LONG GRADE, OR A SERIES OF SMALLER GRADES WHICH HEAT THE TRANSMISSION. THE COMPUTER IS AUTOMATICALLY PROGRAMED TO SHUT DOWN THE VEHICLE . THIS OCCURS WITHOUT REGARDS TRAFFIC, ROAD CONDITIONS OR SAFETY. WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE LAST YEAR AND HAVE RECORDED 55 SEPARATE OCCASIONS OF SUCH OPERATING HAZARDS. THIS ACTIVITY LEAVES THE STRANDED VEHICLE AT THE EDGE OF THE ROADWAY FOR PROLONGED PERIODS OF TIME AS TRAFFIC FLIES BY AT EXCESS OF 65 MPH OR HIGHER. THE STRANDED VEHICLE REPRESENTS A HAZARD TO BOTH THE OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE AS WELL AS THE VEHICLES IN TRANSIT NEARBY. THESE STOPS FOR THE VEHICLE CAN BE AS LONG AS THIRTY MINUTES FOR COOL DOWN. THE DANGERS POSED BY THIS ACTIVITY ARE GREATLY ENHANCED WHEN THIS OCCURS AT NIGHT. TRAFFIC STOPPED WITH LIGHTS AT ROADS EDGE ARE OFTEN CONFUSED WITH A MOVING VEHICLE AND DRIVERS PLOW INTO THE REAR OF THE STRANDED VEHICLE UNKNOWING IT IS AT A DEAD STOP. THESE COMPUTER GENERATED STOPS ARE INHERENTLY DANGEROUS. THE MANUFACTURER IS AWARE AN UNABLE TO MAKE THE DRIVE LINE MODIFICATIONS THAT WOULD ELIMINATE THE DANGERS POSED BY THIS DEFECT IN ENGINEERING. IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS NOT MADE AWARE TO THE MANUFACTURER IN TESTING TRIALS OF THESE PARTICULAR VEHICLES. PLEASE HELP US WITH THIS LEMON!!!
ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, THE TRANSMISSION WILL OVERHEAT, INDICATED BY A HIGH PITCH WINE AND THEN A WARNING LIGHT WHILE AT FREEWAY SPEED. ON MY VEHICLE IT DOES NOT SEEM TO MATTER WHAT THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE IS. THIS THEN INVOLVES ME SITTING AT THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY, WHICH IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. DEALERS DO NOT OR WILL NOT SAY THERE IS A PROBLEM AFTER CHECKING THE DIAGNOSTICS, WHEN IT IS PLAINLY EVIDENT BASED ON A WEALTH OF INTERNET SITES TIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION, PARTICULARLY IN A JEEP PATRIOT. THIS ISSUE IS HAPPENING WITH MORE FREQUENT OCCURRENCES AS TIME GOES ON. MY ISSUES STARTED AT 2500 MILES, I AM AT 86,500 NOW. I CAN SAY THAT THE ISSUE HAS NEVER STARTED WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS, ONLY HAPPENS AT 60+ WITH AS LOW AS 2500 RPM INDICATED ON THE TACHOMETER.

UPON FURTHER INSPECTION OF THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE CARPET WAS DAMP AND MOLD WAS ON THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEATS AS WELL AS THE REAR SEATS AND FLOORBOARDS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED APPROXIMATELY ELEVEN MONTHS AGO FOR THE WEATHERSTRIPPING AT COLUMBIA CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM FIAT (106 S JAMES CAMPBELL BLVD, COLUMBIA, TN 38401 (931) 548-0109) UNDER WARRANTY. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY COULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE WEATHERSTRIPPING WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AGAIN BECAUSE IT WAS A MAINTENANCE FAILURE. THE CONTACT ALSO INQUIRED ABOUT PART AVAILABILITY FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V668000 (SEAT BELTS, AIR BAGS) AS HE PREVIOUSLY FILED A COMPLAINT AND WAS STILL WAITING FOR PARTS. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT OWNERS WOULD RECEIVE A SECOND NOTICE WHEN REMEDY PARTS BECOME AVAILABLE IN AUGUST OF 2017. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 38,000.
ELECTRONIC THROTTLE ISSUE. VEHICLE EXHIBITED UNEXPECTED AND UNCONTROLLED ACCELERATION.
MY 2014 PATRIOT IS A 5 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION WITH A 2.4 L ENGINE. IT HAS JUST UNDER 54000 MILES AND HAS RECENTLY (WITHIN THE PAST FEW MONTHS) STARTED STALLING WHILE DRIVING. LUCKILY NOT SUPER SERIOUSLY TO THE POINT OF LOSING ALL POWER AND BEING STRANDED, BUT IT'S GETTING WORSE. THOUGHT I WAS IMAGINING IT DUE TO NO SENSOR OR WARNING LIGHTS, THEN ONE DAY FOR A SPLIT SECOND THE ETC LIGHT FLASHED. IT'S NEVER FLASHED SINCE AND THE CAR WOULD NEVER DO ANYTHING WHEN MY BOYFRIEND DROVE IT. LAST WEEK WHILE STOPPED, WAITING TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN ON DRY PAVEMENT MY TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT FLASHED. FINALLY LAST WEEK AS WELL MY BOYFRIEND FELT IT STARTED TEMPORARILY WHILE HE WAS DRIVING, ON THE FREEWAY. NOW IT HAS STARTED NOT STARTING. ALL ELECTRICAL WILL WORK, BUT ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AS FAR AS ENGINE. IT HAD ONLY DONE THAT COUPLE TIMES, NOW, TODAY IT DID IT FOUR TIMES IN 4 HOURS. THE FIFTH TIME IT STARTED TO TURN OVER, THEN DIED MID-TURNOVER AND WOULDN'T START AGAIN. IT SAYS THERE WAS ORIGINALLY A RECALL ON THIS AND A COUPLE OTHER YEARS PATRIOT, COMPASS AND SOME OTHER CHRYSLER MODELS. NOT SURE IF MINE WAS FIXED OR NOT NOW DUE TO THE PROBLEM ARISING AT THIS POINT IN TIME. I'VE ONLY HAD THE JEEP SINCE MAY 2015. CONTACTED THE DEALER AND I'LL BE TAKING IT IN HOPEFULLY NEXT WEEK BUT I HAVE A DEDUCTIBLE. 'IF' MY BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY COVERS IT, I'LL HAVE RENTAL COVERAGE WHICH IS BETTER THAN SOME OTHER PEOPLE'S STORIES I'VE READ. IS THERE ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCING MORE RECENT ISSUES? TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP PATRIOT. WHILE THE CONTACT'S BOYFRIEND WAS BACKING UP THE VEHICLE IN A PARKING LOT AT 20 MPH, HE CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT'S BOYFRIEND SUSTAINED HEAD AND LEFT SHOULDER INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE CONTACT'S BOYFRIEND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V668000 (SEAT BELTS, AIR BAGS). IN SEPTEMBER OF 2016 JEEP DISCOVERED A SERIOUS, POSSIBLY FATAL RISK POTENTIAL ASSOCIATED WITH A SENSOR INVOLVED IN RESTRAINING SEAT BELTS AND DEPLOYING AIR BAGS "UNDER CERTAIN IMPACT CONDITIONS". AS AN OWNER, I WAS NOT APPRISED OF THIS RISK UNTIL JUNE 20, 2017. THEN, WHEN I INQUIRED ABOUT THE AVAILABILITY OF A REPAIR TO CORRECT THIS LEMON I WAS "INFORMED", "ADVISED" THERE WAS NO REPAIR AVAILABLE AND SUCH REPAIR(S) MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR SIX MONTHS. I WAS GIVEN A VAGUE ESTIMATE, AND VAGUE "ASSURANCE" I WOULD BE APPRISED OF REPAIR AVAILABILITY WHEN READY. I ASKED, "SHOULD I BEE DRIVING THIS FLAW?" THEY HAD NO SPECIFIC GUIDANCE. SERIOUSLY? ACCORDINFLY, I AM INVOKING "LEMON LAW" AND DEMANDING FULL LIQUIDATION OF MY EXISTING AUTO LOAN AT JEEP'S EXPENSE. IF THEY DO NOT OBLIGE, I SHALL SEEK CIVIL SUIT DAMAGES BY JURY TRIAL FOR ADDED EMOTIONAL PAIN AND SUFFERING COUPLED WITH THEIR FAILURE TO FULLY-DISCLOSE POTENTIAL FATAL FLAW FOR OVER SIX MONTHS TO JEEP OWNERS. IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL S61/NHTSA 16V-668 NOTICE WAS RECEIVED FROM FCA ON 11/15/2016. AS OF 6/16/2017, THE RECALL STATUS IS: INCOMPLETE BUT REPAIR PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. IT DOES NOT SEEM REASONABLE THAT AN IMPORTANT SAFETY DEFECT HAS GONE SO LONG WITHOUT A FIX BY THE COMPANY. FIRST - OIL IS CHANGED ON TIME AND SPARK PLUGS WITH COILS WERE REPLACED. MAINTENANCE IS DONE ON THE CAR. APPROXIMATELY AT AROUND 58K MILES, THE CAR BEGAN TO "SKIP" WHEN ACCELERATING WHEN IT REACHES OVER 20 MPH AND REACHING BETWEEN 3-4 RPM. THIS WAS A RANDOM OCCURRENCE. TODAY AT 60K MILES, THE CAR ON CRUISE CONTROL, ON A SMALL INCLINE IN THE ROAD, CAME TO AN ALMOST COMPLETE STOP (FROM 65 MPH) AND THEN ACCELERATED AS IF I STOMPED ON THE GAS - REACHING ALMOST 5 RPM BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO CANCEL THE CRUISE CONTROL. THE LIGHTS FLASHED BRIEFLY ON THE DASH BOARD BUT NO ERROR MESSAGES REMAINED LIGHT. I CALLED A REPUTABLE REPAIR GUY AND WITHOUT ERROR LIGHTS THERE ISN'T MUCH ANYONE CAN TELL YOU. THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER THREADS ABOUT THIS ISSUE BUT NOTHING BEING DONE BY CHRYSLER DUE TO THE LIMITED NUMBER OF ACCIDENTS. MY INCIDENT TODAY OCCURRED DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AND I COULD VERY WELL HAVE BEEN REAR-ENDED OR REAR-ENDED SOMEONE ELSE. WILL BE CONTACTING THE DEALERSHIP FIRST THING IN THE MORNING BUT AM VERY CONCERNED AS I WORK OVER 20 MINUTES AWAY FROM MY HOME. ALSO VERIFIED NO RECALLS BY CALLING 1-800-247-9753 FOR THIS ISSUE.

SOMEONE IN A 3/4 TON WORK VAN RAN THROUGH A STOP LIGHT AND PLOWED IN TO THE RIGHT PASSENGER FRONT / SIDE OF MY JEEP WHILE I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN WE WERE ON THE CITY STREETS.. THE IMPACT WAS SO GREAT THAT WHILE MAKING THE LEFT TURN AND BEING HIT SO HARD MY WIFE AND I WENT THROUGH A PIZZA SHOP HEAD ON. NONE OF THE 8 AIR BAGS IN MY JEEP WENT OFF. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE JEEPS AIR BAGS FOR WHICH I DID GET A HOLD OF THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE RECALL IS STILL OPEN AND NO THEY DO NOT HAVE A FIX AT THIS TIME. NOW READING THE JEEPS FACTORY USER GUIDE THE AIR BAGS SHOULD HAVE GONE OFF. THE JEEP DOES HAVE SEAT-MOUNTED SIDE AIR BAGS AND FROM READING THE FACTORY USER GUIDE IT STATES THAT THIS VEHICLE MAY BE EQUIPPED WITH SUPPLEMENTAL SEAT-MOUNTED SIDE AIR BAGS TO PROVIDE ENHANCED PROTECTION TO HELP PROTECT AN OCCUPANT DURING A SIDE IMPACT. IF THE AIR BAGS WOULD HAVE GONE OFF MY WIFE WOULDN'T HAVE GOT SO HURT. SHE NOW HAS A RIGHT CERVICAL STRAIN, LUMBAR CONTUSION, AND A RIGHT CLAVICLE FRACTURE. ALSO WITH THE HEAD ON COLLISION INTO THE BUILDING THE FRONT AIR BAGS SHOULD HAVE GONE OFF THEY DID NOT.
ONE MORNING I TRIED TO TURN ON MY VEHICLE AND IT WOULD NOT START. GOT A FRIEND TO COME OUT TO TRY AND JUMP START IT AND AFTER ABOUT 30 MIN IT WAS SUCCESSFUL. TWO DAYS LATER I HAD THE SAME ISSUE. TRIED TO JUMP THE CAR AGAIN WITH NO SUCCESS. REPLACED THE BATTERY BUT DID NOT HELP. ALL THE ELECTRICAL COMPONEMTS INSIDE THE CAR (RADIO,LIGHTS,ECT) WERE STILL FUNCTIONAL BUT ENGINE WOULD NOT START OR EVEN MAKE A SOUND LIKE IT WAS ATTEMPTING TO START. JEEP WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE COULD NOT FIGURE OUT THE ISSUE AFTER 1.5 WEEKS OF TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. I THEN TOWED IT TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP AND HE STATED THAT HE DIDNT KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. HE REMOVED THE PLASTIC COVERINGS OVER THE ENGINE AND STATED THEY ARE JUST FOR LOOKS AND DONT NEED TO BE THERE AND CLEANED SOME WIRES NEAR THE DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL WELL AND THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO START. LATER WHILE DRIVING MY JEEP STARTED TO ACT STRANGE. RANDOMLY ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH BOARD WOULD TURN ON, THE GUAGES WENT ALL THE WAY TO ZERO THEN BACK UP TO NORMAL THE RADIO WOULD SHUT OFF AND TURN BACK ON AND THE CAR WOULD FEEL LIKE IT WAS ABOUT TO STALL. LATER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED EXCEPT THIS TIME THE LIGHTS STAYED ON ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING BUT COULD NOT ACCELERATE MY VEHICLE AND POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I THEN WOULD HAVE TO PULL MY JEEP TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TURN IT OFF LET IT SET FOR A LITTLE THEN IT WOULD START BACK UP FINE. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 5 TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF A COUPLE WEEKS. WHEN IT WASNT HAPPENING AND I WAS DRIVING THE JEEP AROUND NORMALLY THE CHECK BATTERY LIGHT WOULD ALWAYS TURN ON AFTER ABOUT 5 TO 10 MIN AFTER DRIVIMG THE VEHICLE. OCCASIONALLY THE CHECK OIL LIGHT WILL ALSO TURN ON. I HAVE STILL FOUMD MP SOLUTION TO THESE PROBLEMS AMD IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. IT MAKES IT VERY UNSAFE TO DROVE ESPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY AND IN CONGESTED AREAS DUE TO VEHICLE RANDOMLY NOT WORKING.

THE CAR HAS FEWER THAN 50,000 MILES ON IT. THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED PER THE DEALERS DIAGNOSTICS. AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY IN A 35 MPH FRONT END CRASH WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT MADE A LEFT HAND TURN IN FRONT OF MY JEEP PATRIOT.
AFTER DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY FOR ABOUT 2-3 HOURS, THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEATS AND THE CAR SPEED IS FORCED DOWN TO ABOUT 35-40 MPH. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN VEHICLES ARE TRAVELING BEHIND ME AND THE CAR IS EFFECTIVELY SLAMMING ON THE BRAKES. WHILE THE VEHICLE MAY BE OPERATING AS DESIGNED WHEN THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEATS, IT SHOULDN'T OVERHEAT AFTER 2-3 HOURS OF HIGHWAY DRIVING.
