Took vehicle to dealership and they identified the Thermostat to be faulty and needing replaced. on March 27, 2025, NHTSA issued a Technical Service Bulletin (09-006-25) and a Rapid Service Update (25-047) to Dealerships advising them of the issues nationwide with faulty Thermostats. I would like to request this be a recalled item for 2022-2024 Jeep Wagoneers to replace the faulty thermostats. There is nothing safe about driving a vehicle that shuts down on the road while driving and leaving people stranded on busy roads and highways, especially when they know it is an ongoing issue.
The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Wagoneer. The contact stated that while approaching a stop with his foot on the brake pedal, the vehicle shut off once slowed down to 1-3 MPH. As a result of the failure, the contact was forced to restart the vehicle, with the power steering and check engine warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) was reset, and the software was updated. Despite the repair, the contact stated that the failure returned immediately while driving the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained with the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 150.
With less than 500 miles on the vehicle, while stopped at a stoplight, the vehicle automatically shifted from drive to park and had to be restarted in order to accelerate forward. Check engine light also came on. When stopped at the same light again moments later, the same thing occurred. These events happened within a couple minutes of each other. Vehicle would not accelerate until restarted. Took vehicle to get serviced, the next day within minutes after leaving the dealership and servicing, the check engine light came on after accelerating at a stop light with the same engine error codes.
Vehicle is one week old from dealership with 382 miles on odometer at time of incident. Driving under normal conditions. Paved city street in dry weather. Vehicle lost engine power and showed the error message on gauge cluster “shift into p”. Accelerator would not work till stopped vehicle in the middle of the road and shifted to park and back to drive gear.
Vibrations in steering and seating despite multiple balancing attempts and new tires
While sitting at the gas station in park, my feet were on the floor not touching the brake or gas pedal, the wagoneer shifted itself into drive and started driving forward and collided with the parking barrier in front of me.
Brand new with 20 miles on the car, drove 120 miles home from the dealership and did not drive hard or aggressively. The car was pouring oil and needed to be towed to the nearest dealer for a blown crank shaft seal.
