This is a common flaw with the abs brake system on many Chrysler Fiat vehicles and Chrysler fiat is doing NOtHING. My Jeep ABS computer module went bad . No damage, no off roading. Driving on highway and all the brake/abs/stability control lights lit up on my dash. The abs showed code “c2200” bad abs module and must replace. However Chrysler stopped making these …in back order for years. You have to either get a junk yard part or send your computer away to be Refurbished. How can Chrysler be allowed to not have a critical safety part in stock…and not cover this in a lifetime warranty. ?? I’ve never had any other vehicle where the abs computer goes bad . This is insane. And dealer can’t locate the part in the USA because Chrysler doesn’t have them.
ABS Module Yes As I was driving and going to turn left into a shopping center and stepped on the break, I had none, I did almost crash. It happened all of a sudden out of nowhere no lights, no icons lit. The problem has been confirmed by a dealer stating that this is a nationwide issue that’s currently going on that the parts are back ordered because there is nothing in production right now for the part. The vehicle is not drivable.
The vehicle requires an ABS module. I have been waiting for over 4 months for part availability. According to dealer they dont have any ETA on availability and have been told it may not be something they ever go back to producing. My state requires safety inspection which it will not pass due to this issue. Seems to me that someone needs to be responsible to make a part for these issues.
The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler equipped with Powerstop Brake Hoses, Part Number: (N/A). The contact stated that after installing the brake hoses to the rear driver’s and passenger’s side brake assemblies, there was smoke coming from the rear driver's side brake rotors while operating the vehicle due to brake fluid leaking from the hose. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The contact was informed of the NHTSA Campaign Number: 24E053000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was not provided.
ABS brakes not working on my Jeep. Was told by dealer that it needs a new ABS module, but nobody has the part. How can I drive my vehicle when my ABS brakes are not working and you don't provide the part to fix it? The one dealer in Texas that has the part jacked up the price for it. That is price gouging, which is against the law. Chrysler is and will be responsible for any accident cause due to this issue.
On my 2008 jeep wrangler the driver’s rear drum hard brake line bursted completely and almost split in half, leaking fluid. The hard brake line follows the frame rail, and this breakage occurred at the 90° bend above the transmission cross support. My safety, my passengers safety, as well as others on the road were at risk when the brake failure occurred. While operating the vehicle on a decline, brake pedal began to sink to the floor and the “brake” e-brake warning indicator began flashing and dinging. There were no prior indications of the issue. Thankfully I was able to slow down my vehicle by shifting down and using my e-brake. Had vehicle towed and Private mechanic inspected and performed repairs, mopar/Chrysler no longes makes this part and a custom bent hard line had to be created. Attempted to contact Chrysler 3 times regarding the safety issue this posed, they referred me to the dealer 1st call. I spoke with a mechanic at my local dealer whom agreed with me that the hard line had no reason to break given the location of the damage and that it’s a non-wear item. The Mechanic suggested i call back the 1-800 number to continue with reporting my safety concerns to the manufacturers as there was nothing he could do at the dealership. 2nd call, the new representative also told me to call the dealer and when i asked for a supervisor to report my safety concerns, she hung up on me. The third call the rep said the exact same thing, however he sated a supervisor would call me back. I haven’t received a call back for a week.
BRAKE LINE STARTED TO LEAK
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, AN ABNORMAL SOUND WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT WAS INVOLVED IN A LOW SPEED VEHICLE COLLISION. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS OPERABLE AND DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY DAMAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CONWAY HEATON NEW DODGE JEEP FORD CHRYSLER RAM (810 N 3RD ST, BARDSTOWN, KY) WHERE IT WAS AWAITING DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 141,000.
ALL 4 BRAKE LINES CORRODED. ONE BLEW AND THE OTHER 3 HAD BULGES. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. I HAD PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO PUT VEHICLE IN GEAR. BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND SMOKE CAME FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE LINES WERE CORRODED DIRECTLY BEHIND WHERE A PREVIOUS RECALL K13 HAD BEEN DONE TO FIX THE FENDER LINER ISSUE ABOUT THE LINER RUBBING A HOLE IN THE BRAKE LINE. ALL 4 LINES CORRODED IN THE SAME SPOT. THE FENDER LINER HELD MOISTURE AND ALLOWED THE LINES TO CORRODE.
WHILE DRIVING MY STOCK 08 JKU RUBICON WHEN I WENT TO STOP BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I ROLLED INTO AN INTERSECTION. I AM SO LUCKY I DID NOT DIE OR KILL SOMEONE ELSE. I GOT IT HOME TO FIND THAT MY TIRES HAD WORN A HOLE IN MY BRAKE LINES ON DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT. I CONTACT DEALERSHIP WHO BASICALLY TELL ME IT ISN'T COVERED AND THAT THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF ANY ISSUE'S WITH TIRE RUB ON BRAKE LINES. I CONTACTED FCA THEY CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP WHO NOW BASICLY TOLD ME TO BRING IN ASAP. TODAY I AM CONTACT BY DEALERSHIP THAT IS COVERED BUT AFTER IT FAILS.
PASSENGER SIDE FRONT BRAKE LINE WORN AND ERODED FROM TIRE ON RIGHT TURNS.
ANTI LOCK BRAKE MODULE FAILED. BRAKE PEDAL WOULD PULSE ON DRY PAVEMENT EVEN AT SPEEDS UNDER 5 MILES AN HOUR BUT WOULD FAIL TO BRING VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP. PROBLEM BEGAN AS INTERMITTENT THEN WOULD RANDOMLY GO FROM PULSING BUT STILL STOPPING THE VEHICLE TO EVENTUALLY THE PEDAL GOING TO THE FLOOR WITH NO PULSING AND NO BRAKES WHATSOEVER. ALSO, NO BRAKE WARNING LIGHT OR ANTILOCK BRAKE LIGHT. I KEPT THE MODULE AND WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO SEND IT TO YOU FOR EVALUATION. SINCE I HAVE REPLACED THE MODULE (LAST FALL) I HAVE HAD NO FURTHER ISSUES.
I WAS ON AN ON-RAMP ENTERING A HIGHWAY. WHEN I TRIED TO SLOW DOWN TO MERGE WITH TRAFFIC, MY BRAKES DID NOT WORK. THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND WOULD NOT STOP OR EVEN SLOW DOWN THE JEEP. I COULD NOT STOP AT ALL MY JEEP AND RAN INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I INSPECTED MY JEEP AND FOUND THAT THE RIGHT FRONT BRAKE LINE HAD COME APART. THE INTERNAL FITTING WAS RUSTED AND THE RUBBER COATING APPEARED TO BE DAMAGED/BURNED. THIS IS FACTORY BRAKES, NO MODIFICATIONS HAVE EVER BEEN MADE TO ANY PART OF THIS JEEP. THE DEALERSHIP MECHANIC INITALLY TOLD ME THAT THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE WAS ON THE VERGE OF COMING APART ALSO, THEN REFUSED TO SPEAK TO ME AFTERWARDS. I HAVE A BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY WHICH SPECIFICALLY LISTS ALL OF THESE PARTS AS COVERED. CHRYSLER THEN CONFISCATED MY VEHICLE, REFUSED TO MAKE ANY REPAIRS CLAIMING THEY ARE "INSPECTING IT FOR SAFETY" FOR THE NEXT FIVE BUSINESS DAYS. I DO NOT CONSENT TO THEM TAKING MY VEHICLE FOR THIS PERIOD OF TIME. THEY REFUSED TO PROVIDE ME WITH A RENTAL CAR DURING THIS FIVE BUSINESS DAYS OF THEIR SO-CALLED SAFETY INSPECTION. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING WITH MY JEEP AND WHY THEY WON'T RETURN IT TO ME. CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS BEEN HORRIBLE AND NO ONE WILL GIVE ME ANY INFORMATION ABOUT MY JEEP OR WHAT'S GOING ON WITH IT OTHER THAN IT'S BEEN "UPGRADED" TO A DIFFERENT LEVEL OF MANAGEMENT. I BELIEVE THEY ARE ATTEMPTING TO COVER UP A FACTORY/MANUFACTURING CAUSED DEFECT DUE TO THE WAY THEY ARE HANDLING THIS SITUATION AND THE REFUSAL TO DISCUSS THE JEEP WITH ME.
2 WEEKS AGO MY FRONT PASSENGER BRAKE CALIPER SEIZED WHILE DRIVING. IT SMOKED AND WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS I LOST THE ABILITY TO STEER SAFELY. I HAD TO REPLACE THE CALIPER, PADS AND RESURFACE THE ROTOR. YESTERDAY MY REAR DRIVER-SIDE CALIPER FAILED WHILE DRIVING LOCALLY. I ONLY HAVE 38K MILES ON THIS JEEP AND DO NOT DRIVE OFF-ROAD. JEEP IS PRISTINE, WELL MAINTAINED AND USED SPARINGLY. SEARCHING NHTSA DATABASE I SAW SEVERAL SIMILAR REPORTS AND ALL REPORTED PROBLEMS INVOLVED 2008 JEEP WRANGLER, HOWEVER NO RECALL OR TSB?!? HOW MANY REPORTS DOES NHTSA NEED TO CONNECT THE DOTS HERE? I'M SO THANKFUL MY DAUGHTER WASN'T DRIVING, AS SHE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO RECOVER THE VEHICLE DURING THE FIRST INCIDENT. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 37 YEARS & NEVER HAD A VEHICLE HAVE A SINGLE CALIPER FAILURE AND NOW IT'S HAPPENED TWICE WITHIN TWO WEEKS ON THE SAME VEHICLE. THERE ARE LESS THAN 3K MILES DRIVEN ON THESE BRAKE PADS. *TR
WHILE PARKING MY JEEP IN A PARKING GARAGE, THE FRONT BRAKE LINE SNAPPED DURING A TURN. THE BROKEN LINE OCCURRED WHERE IT CONNECTS TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE FROM THE ENGINE. I LOST ALL ABILITY TO BRAKE AND LOST ALL BRAKE FLUID. ONLY EMERGENCY BRAKE WOULD WORK. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO DEALER FOR COSTLY REPAIR TO INCLUDE REPLACING FRONT BRAKE PADS BECAUSE BRAKE FLUID RUINED THEM. VERY LUCKY I WAS IN A PARKING GARAGE AND NOT ON A MAJOR ROAD DRIVING AT HIGHER SPEED. *TR

THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS BRAKE FLUID LEAKING FROM UNDER THE PASSENGER'S SIDE OF THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO STATED THE BRAKE HOSE WAS WORN FROM RUBBING AGAINST THE SHOCKS AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE BRAKES HAD ALSO FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THIS FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
DURING STATE VEHICLE INSPECTION LOCAL GARAGE DISCOVERED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE BRAKE LINE HAD BEEN WORN THROUGH FROM THE FRONT TIRE RUBBING ON IT WHEN WHEELS TURNED TO THE LEFT. GARAGE SUGGESTED CHECKING WITH JEEP DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF A RECALL WAS IN AFFECT. TOOK VEHICLE TO JEEP DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED AND SERVICE MANAGER SAID NO RECALL WAS IN AFFECT HOWEVER JEEP HAD PUBLISHED A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS ISSUE AND RE-DESIGNED THE BRAKE LINES AFFECTED. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THE ISSUE WAS FROM ROAD MOISTURE/DEBRIS SEEPING THROUGH THE RUBBER BOOTS COVERING THE BRAKE LINE FITTINGS WHICH CAUSED EXCESS CORROSION TO BUILD WITHIN THE RUBBER BOOTS TRIGGERING THE BOOTS TO "SWELL" CAUSING THE CONTACT WITH THE TIRE. THERE WAS AN INFERENCE MADE BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THE VEHICLE'S TIRES MAY HAVE ATTRIBUTED TO THIS FROM THEIR TREAD DESIGN HOWEVER THE TIRE SIZE MATCHES THE MANUFACTURER SPECS ON THE LABEL INSIDE THE DOOR JAM. APPEARS TO BE A FAULTY DESIGN OF THE ORIGINAL MANUFACTURER BRAKE LINES. *TR
WHEN I ARRIVED HOME AND WAS IN THE CAR IN MY DRIVEWAY, I SET THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. SOMETHING SNAPPED, AFTER WHICH THE BRAKE CLEARLY CEASED TO FUNCTION (I COULD NOT SET IT). WHILE PARKED ON A SLIGHT INCLINE THE HAND BRAKE WAS SET. THE VEHICLE STARTED TO ROLL FORWARD, I PUT THE VEHICLE IN GEAR AND RESET THE HAND BRAKE MORE FIRMLY ONLY TO HEAR A SNAP AND THE HANDLE HAD ZERO RESISTANCE. THE SPRING BROKE INTERNALLY. I HAD THE VEHICLE IN GEAR AND ENGINE OFF SO IT DID NOT ROLL FORWARD ANY MORE, BUT LOOKING ONLINE HAVE DISCOVERED THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND IF THE HAND BRAKE IS NEED MAY EASILY FAIL - IT DID NOT TAKE A HARD PULL TO BREAK THE SPRING. MY CONCERN IS THE USE IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION OR VERY STEEP INCLINES WHERE THE HAND BRAKE MAY BE REQUIRED. *TR
