PLEASE REFER TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V524000. THIS IS HAPPENING TO MY JEEP. AT TIMES IT WOULD DO A QUICK "CHUG". OTHER TIMES IT HAS STALLED. AFTER ABOUT 25 MINUTES, I WOULD BE ABLE TO START THE JEEP. THIS BEGAN LAST NOVEMBER. THE MOST RECENT STALL WAS AUGUST 20, 2018.
DRIVER HEATED SEAT MODULE OVERHEATS AT TIMES CAUSING A BURNING SMELL IF IN USE.
BOTH TIMES MY PROBLEM OCCURRED I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 70-75 MPH AND THE SWAY CONTROL AND CHECK ENGINE LAMP WOULD BOTH ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WOULD GO INTO POWER DERATE MODE AND YOU COULDN'T ACCELERATE. HOOKED A DIAGNOSTIC CODE READER TO THE VEHICLE AND FOUND CHRYSLER TROUBLE CODES P0369, P2638, AND C121C. HAD TO DO WITH CAMSHAFT SENSOR, AND TRANSMISSION TORQUE REQUEST BEING DENIED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY PROBLEM. I HAVE FOUND MULTIPLE PEOPLE ON ONLINE JEEP FORUMS THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE OCCUR. THE DEALERSHIP JUST HAD ME GO AND PICK UP MY VEHICLE EXACTLY AS IT WAS WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN. HOPING TO FIND OUT IF ANYBODY HAD THIS ISSUE AND ACTUALLY GOT IT FIXED. HAD THIS ISSUE OCCUR TWICE. ONE TIME WAS THE DAY THAT I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE 7/28/2018 AND THE SECOND WAS ON MY WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 7/31/2018.
MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN BROKEN INTO MORE THAN 5 TIMES IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS AND I HAVE ALL THESE PEOPLE FOLLOWING ME AROUND ON EVERY LOCATION I AM WHILE SERVING MY MAIL ROUTE...I SPENT OVER 2500 ON SENSORS AND WIRING BUT MY VEHICLE CONTINUES TO FLASH CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS AND CHIMES CONSTANTLY WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. I AM VERY CONCERNED THE COMPUTER SYSTEM HAS BEEN COMPROMISED SEVERAL DIFFERENT OCCASIONS AND I HAVE WENT TOO 2 DIFFERENT JEEP DEALERSHIPS AND BOTH ARE PULLING DIFFERENT CODES ON THE EXACT SAME DAY.THE CODES WERE RESET I DROVE 25 MILES TO THE NEXT DEALERSHIP WHEN ALL SORTS OF LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING AND THE ENGINE LOST POWER. I GOT TO THE NEXT DEALERSHIP THAT PULLED CODES AND SAID NOTHING WAS HAPPENING. I EVEN HAD A PERSON CONTACT ME FROM ONE OF THE DEALERSHIPS TELLING ME TO COME IN FOR A SERVICE PART THAT I HAD NOT CONFIRMED TO BE ORDERED . MY FEAR FOR MY SAFETY IS OF HIGH CONCERN IF SOMEONE IS DELIBERATELY TRYING TO SABOTAGE MY VEHICLE.
MY JEEP WRANGLER IS STALLING AND ONCE I GET IT RESTARTED THE TRANSMISSION WILL JERK WHEN SHIFTING. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO MY LOCAL JEEP DEALER AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS NOT COMING ON SO THEY CAN'T DIAGNOSE IT. THIS TYPICALLY HAPPENS WHEN IN REVERSE OR WHEN COMING TO A STOP IN DRIVE. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN TRAFFIC. I AM AFRAID THIS WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THE REASON I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS IN TRAFFIC AT A STOPLIGHT AND IT STALLED ON ME 5 TIMES BEFORE I COULD GET IT TO KEEP RUNNING. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHEN SITTING STILL AND IDOLING. I LOVE MY JEEP AND HAVE WANTED ONE SINCE I WAS A KID. I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOT ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I FOUND ONLINE WHERE 2017-18 MODELS WERE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. MY WRANGLER IS A 2013 SPORT UNLIMITED. I THINK YOU SHOULD CONSIDER LOOKING INTO EXPANDING THIS RECALL TO INCLUDE OLDER YEARS. I AM ASKING FOR YOUR HELP TO FIX THIS ISSUE IN MY JEEP. PLEASE ADVISE MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP OF HOW TO FIND AND FIX THE ISSUE. PLEASE HELP BEFORE AN ACCIDENT IS CAUSED BY THIS PROBLEM.
2013 JEEP WRANGLER HAD 72,000 HIGHWAY MILES, NEVER TOWED OR BEAT ON JEEP. WHILE DRIVING AT 70MPH ON HIGHWAY CAR SUDDENLY SWERVED VIOLENTLY TO RIGHT AND LEFT MULTIPLE TIMES, ALMOST FLIPPED OVER. HAD IT TOWED TO BELLE TIRE AND FOUND RIGHT REAR AXEL WENT OUT, AFFECTED CALIPERS AND BRAKES ALL HAD TO BE REPLACED. I WAS LESS THAN 2 MONTHS OUT OF POWERTRAIN, CALLED THEY WONT REIMBURSE SINCE IT WAS NOT REPAIRED AT JEEP DEALER. THE CAR ABS/TRACKTION CONTROL LIGHTS WENT ON, HARDLY WENT FORWARD DUE TO BRAKES LOCKED UP AND SMELLED LIKE IT WAS BURNING, ACTUAL RIGHT REAR RIM TOO HOT TO TOUCH, WOULDN'T EVEN MOVE IN GEAR UNLESS GASSED IT. NEVER HAD A WARNING, REAR BRAKES HAD JUST BEEN REPLACED TWO MONTHS EARLIER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. AFTER APPROXIMATELY FIVE MINUTES, THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND DROVE NORMALLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED OFTEN. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TOWED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOB CALDWELL JEEP CHRYSLER RAM (1888 MORSE RD, COLUMBUS, OH 43229, (614) 739-8871) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW PUMP WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE FAILURE THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. THE VIN WAS INVALID.
TAKARA RECALL. MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT 16 W LANCASTER AVE SHILLINGTON PA 19607. I HAD IT PARKED IN THE BACK PARKING LOT. THE OWNER OF THE STORE CALLED ME TO INFORM ME THAT MY DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. HE HEARD IT FROM INSIDE THE STORE AND WENT OUTSIDE IMMEDIATELY TO INVESTIGATE. HE DIDNT SEE ANYONE LEAVE THE PARKING LOT AND THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE. IT WAS RAINING VERY HARD THAT DAY BUT I FEEL THAT SHOULDNT HAVE CAUSED MY AIRBAG TO DEPLOY. WHEN THE INCIDENT HAPPENED I CALLED THE FCA RECALL NUMBER AT 1-833-585-0144 AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION. THEY HAD AN INSPECTOR CALL ME BACK AND I DROPPED MY CAR OFF AT SAVAGE 61 IN READING PA TO HAVE HIM INSPECT MY JEEP. I WAS GIVEN CASE #[XXX] AND WAS TOLD THE DEALER AUTHORIZED REPAIR TO MY AIRBAG/STEERING WHEEL. SINCE THEN I'VE BEEN TRYING TO HAVE THEM FIX MY AIRBAG. ON 3/14 I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN TO TRY AND RESOLVE AND THEY TOLD ME I'D BE PUT ON A WAITING LIST. THE RECALL WAS FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. BUT MY DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG IS THE ONE THAT DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON IT JUST WENT OFF. SINCE THIS HAS HAPPENED I'VE BEEN TRYING WITHOUT SUCCESS TO HAVE SOMEONE FIX MY JEEP. I CANT GET IT INSPECTED UNTIL MY STEERING WHEEL IS REPLACED AND IT'S MY DAILY DRIVER. I REALLY NEED SOMEONE TO HELP ME GET THIS RESOLVED ASAP SO I CAN HAVE MY JEEP INSPECTED. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. TWICE MY VEHICLE'S ENGINE HAS SIMPLY TURNED OFF WHILE DRIVING. BOTH TIMES WERE AT LOW SPEEDS. THE FIRST TIME I WAS IN REVERSE IN A PARKING GARAGE. THE ENGINE SIMPLY STOPPED. ALL THE LIGHTS STILL REMAINED ON. I THOUGHT I MUST HAVE PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL BY MISTAKE, BUT HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR 3 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER DONEE THAT BEFORE.. TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND WENT ON MY WAY. THERE WERE NO INDICATOR LIGHTS ON BEFORE OR AFTER THIS INCIDENT. THE NEXT DAY I WAS TURNING AT AN INTERSECTION AND THE CAR ENGINE AGAIN COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS AT ALL TO SHOW THE VEHICLE HAD AN ISSUE. AND THERE WAS NO WAY THIS WAS A MISTAKE ON MY END. THEN THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER. I WAS STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF A TRAFFIC INTERSECTION. IT WAS NOT ON A MAIN ROAD, BUT STILL ON AN ACTIVE ROAD, WHERE IN THE SPAN OF 5 MINUTES 50 CARS MUST HAVE DRIVEN BY. IT WAS DARK OUT AND I AM LUCKY THERE WAS GOOD LIGHTING IN THE AREA. SOMEONE HELPED ME TO PUSH THE CAR OUT OF THE INTERSECTION. ALL THE LIGHTS CONTINUED TO WORK. AFTER 20 MINUTES, THE CAR STARTED AGAIN. I BROUGHT THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP TODAY. THEY TESTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND NO CODES OR ERRORS THAT POPPED UP. THEY HAD NO IDEA WHAT TO RECOMMEND. BUT NOW I AM FEARFUL TO DRIVE MY CAR LESS I FIND MYSELF IN AN EVEN MORE PRECARIOUS SITUATION THAN BEFORE. THE FACT THAT THIS ISSUE IS UNIDENTIFIABLE IS UNACCEPTABLE. TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT STAYS ON. UNABLE TO TURN OFF. EVERYTHING IS POINTING TO THE CLOCKSPRING RECALL. BUT MY JEEP HAS NOT GOTTEN ANY LETTER OR NOTIFICATION ABOUT THE RECALL THAT IS CURRENTLY OUT. PLEASE ADD MY VIN TO THE RECALL LIST SO I CAN TAKE IT TO THE DEALER ASAP
A TICKING NOISE. VALVES TICKING. I WAS TOLD.THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS WITH JEEP.WRANGLERS.
DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE, CHECK ENGINE SOON LIGHT, AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COME ON, VEHICLE LOSES POWER, DECELERATES ON ITS OWN. CRUISE CONTROL STOPS WORKING. HAVE TO ALMOST FLOOR GAS PEDAL TO KEEP POWER GOING TO VEHICLE. VEHICLE THEN RANDOMLY HAS SMALL BURST OF ACCELERATION ON ITS OWN. OCCURED WHILE DRIVING DOWN I-10. OCCURS RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING, WITHOUT WARNING. ALMOST CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT BETWEEN MYSELF AND A SEMI, WHILE MY KIDS WERE IN THE VEHICLE.
WHEN YOU PULL ONTO THE ROAD IT STARTS TO HIT THE BRAKES AND WHEN YOU TRY TO HIT THE GAS IT STILL HITS THE GAS THEN THE ABS COMES ON THAN THE ANTI SLIP COMES ON AND THAN THE OTHER ONE COMES ON LIKE YOU ARE GOING DOWN THE HILL COMES ON. IT KEEPS UP HITTING MY BRAKES THAN FOR A LITTLE WHILE IT LETS UP OFF MY BRAKES BUT THE LIGHTS STAY ON.
THE HOOD WOULD FLUTTER AT SPEEDS OF 70 MPH OR MORE, NORMALLY ON INTERSTATE DRIVING. SEEMED WORSE WHEN HIGH WINDS (WEATHER) WERE PRESENT. WHEN MY HOOD WAS DAMAGED BY HAIL IN MAY 2018, I CHANGED THE ORIGINAL HOOD LATCHES ALSO TO AN AFTERMARKET PRODUCT THAT NO LONGER ALLOWS THE HOOD TO FLUTTER AT THESE SPEEDS. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENED FROM THE TIME I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE (01/2014) UNTIL LATCHES WERE CHANGED TO AFTERMARKET PRODUCT (05/2018).
THE SEATBELT/AIRBAG LIGHT WENT ON AT 27000 MILES. ONE DEALER SAID IT WAS THE WIRING UNDER THE SEAT AND ANOTHER SAID IT WAS THE SEATBELT. MY MUNICIPAL MECHANIC LOOKED UP RECALL INFORMATION ON THE ISSUE AND IT SEEMS AS THOUGH MY VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED. ANY 2013 JEEP WRANGLER SPORT MADE BEFORE 7/1/2013 HAS A FAULTY SEATBELT. THIS IS CONCERNING AND I AM SCARED TO HAVE ANYONE RIDE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I AM ATTACHING THE PRODEMAND REPORT. PLEASE CONTACT ME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THE LIGHT WENT ON WHEN I STARTED THE CAR,
NUMEROUS EVENTS OF SUDDEN STALLING OF VEHICLE AT HIGH SPEED IN DRIVE, AT LOW SPEED IN DRIVE AND REVERSE; CREATING A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION INVOLVING NEAR-MISS REAR END COLLISIONS. CAN TAKE UP TO 15 MINUTES TO RESTART ENGINE. ENGINE SOMETIMES APPEARS TO RESTART WITH A TICKING SOUND, HAS NO POWER AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CAN'T BE SHIFTED INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE. OTHER TIMES, ENGINE STARTS AND TRANSMISSION CAN BE SHIFTED INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE, BUT GEARS DO NOT ENGAGE. NUMEROUS EVENTS, AS COMMON AS STALLING EVENTS, INVOLVING SUDDEN AND SOMETIMES VIOLENT SHOCKS TO THE DRIVETRAIN, WHICH HAPPEN AT ALL SPEEDS, USUALLY WHEN ACCELERATING. EVERYONE KNOWS THIS IS A TIPM ISSUE, WITH SERIOUS SAFETY IMPLICATIONS RELATED TO THE POTENTIAL FOR HIGH SPEED REAR END COLLISIONS BY FOLLOWING VEHICLES, THAT CHRYSLER AND THE NHTSA HAVE NOT TAKEN ADEQUATE ACTION TO REMEDY EXCEPT ON LIMITED AFFECTED VEHICLE TYPES. SUBSTANTIAL INFORMATION EXISTS ON THIS KNOWN ISSUE, INCLUDING INFORMATION AND DOCUMENTATION SUBMITTED TO CHRYSLER AND NHTSA. THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW, STARTED TO EXHIBIT THIS SERIES OF PROBLEMS AT THE BEGINNING OF 2018 AFTER 60,000+ MILES, AND HAS BEEN BACK AND FORTH TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES. THERE ARE NO RECORDED ERROR CODES ACCORDING TO THE DEALER. THE FUEL PUMP RELAY HAS BEEN REPLACED BY DEALER, SUPPOSEDLY, WHICH WAS THE LATEST UNSUCCESSFUL ATTEMPT AT SOLVING THE PROBLEM? PRIOR TO THAT WORK WAS PERFORMED ON THE TRANSMISSION, SUPPOSEDLY, WHICH ALSO DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM? PRIOR TO THE CURRENT SYMPTOMS, TWO UNEXPLAINED DEAD BATTERY EVENTS OCCURRED. NOW, READILY FOUND INFORMATION SHOWS A LINK WITH TIPM AND FUEL PUMP RELAY FAILURES THAT ALLOW THE FUEL PUMP TO RUN AND DRAIN THE BATTERY AFTER TURNING OFF THE IGNITION. HOW MANY MORE REPORTS TO NHTSA WILL IT TAKE TO RESPONSIBLY ADDRESS THIS VERY SERIOUS POTENTIAL REAR COLLISION SAFETY ISSUE RELATED TO THE TIPM?
I WAS ON A HIGHWAY DOING 45 MPH. THE SPEED LIMIT IS 55 SO I PROCEEDED TO PASS WHEN IT CLEARED ONLY TO HAVE THE GAS PEDAL STICK. I REACHED SPEEDS OVER 90 MPH BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO GET THE EDGE OF MY SHOE UNDER THE PEDAL TO GET IT UNSTUCK. I WAS EXTREMELY LUCKY NO OTHER VEHICLE WAS IN FRONT OF THE ONE I PASSED. THIS COULD HAVE EASILY COST ME MY LIFE AND POSSIBLY OTHERS AS WELL.
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES VIOLENTLY LEFT TO RIGHT, AND YOU ARE FORCED TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP. IN CHECKING THE INTERNET, AND SPEAKING TO A TECHNICIAN, THIS IS A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM CALLED THE "DEATH WOBBLE". I AM UNCLEAR HOW SOMETHING AS DANGEROUS AS THIS CAN BECOME "ACCEPTABLE" IN TERMS OF JEEP PERFORMANCE. WHILE I PUT AN INCIDENT DATE OF 3/16 ON THE FORM, THIS VEHICLE BEHAVIOR HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES.
AS I RESEARCH WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY JEEP IT HAS BEEN A HAPPENING FOR QUITE A BIT OF PEOPLE. NOBODY HAS BEEN ABLE TO FIND A SOLUTION FOR THIS ISSUE, WHAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING IS WHEN DRIVING MY 2013 JEEP WRANGLER AT ALL MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND I INSTANTLY LOSE POWER PLUS MY ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS TURN ON AND I END UP GOING INTO LIMP MODE. IT MOSTLY HAPPENING ON THE FREEWAY AND GOING UP HILLS, BUT HAS ALSO BEEN HAPPENING EVEN WHEN IT IS IN PARK. MY JEEP HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP WITH A TRUSTED MECHANIC FOR 3 MONTHS AND HE HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND THE ISSUE EITHER. ALL OF THE RESEARCH I HAVE DONE TONS OF PEOPLE HAS BEEN HAVING THIS ISSUE BUT SEEMS AS THOUGH NO ONE CAN FIND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM EITHER... I'M UNSURE OF WHAT TO DO NOW.
I BOUGHT THIS 2013 JEEP NOT EVEN TWO YEARS AGO AND I'VE SANK OVER 8,000 DOLLARS IN REPAIR INTO IT. THEIR SHOULD BE A TON OF RECALLS ON THESE JEEPS AROUND THE SAME YEAR. I'M A MAIL CARRIER AND MY FIRST ROUTE WAS ALL PAVED ROADS. THIS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH DELIVERING THE MAIL. THESE JEEPS ARE JUNK AND JEEP WON'T TAKE INITIATIVE FOR IT. THE TRACTION CONTROL AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAY ON. EVERY TIME IT'S BEEN FIXED IT'S BEEN CAM SHAFTS, ROCKER ARMS, CAM SHAFT SENSORS, STEERING SENSOR, CLOCK SPRING, AND WIRING HARNESS. IT SHOULDN'T HAVE TO BE FIXED THAT MANY FINES AND CONTINUE TO HAPPEN. THESE JEEPS SHOULD BE ABLE TO WITHSTAND MORE BEING MADE FOR POSTAL VEHICLES. EVERY CARRIER OR PERSON I KNOW WITH ONE HAS THE SAME EXACT ISSUE. WHEN THOSE LIGHTS COME ON THE JEEP LITERALLY LOSES ALL POWER, IT STILL RUNS BUT TICKS AND SOUNDS LIKE IT IS ABOUT TO BLOW UP. THE VEHICLE DOES IT WHILE SITTING AND DRIVING. IT'S GOT A CONSTANT TICK TOO. IT'S BEEN TO SURROUNDING DEALERSHIPS AND I GET TOLD THE SAME THING. I PAY 500 DOLLARS A MONTH FOR A PIECE OF CRAP. JEEP NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS. THEIR ARE LAW SUITS AGAINST THEM, AND I HAVE NO DOUBT THE CUSTOMERS WILL WIN. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. THIS IS AMERICA, WE WORK OUR BUTTS OFF TO PAY FOR SOMETHING JEEP IS RESPONSIBLE FOR, ITS NOT RIGHT.
OIL ADAPTER HOUSING IS LEAKING OIL. NOTICED WHEN I WAS GETTING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE.
OIL FILTER HOUSING, CRACKED RESULTING IN LOSS OF LARGE AMOUNTS OF OIL, ENGINE HAS 82,000 MILES AND OIL HAS BEEN CHANGED EVERY 3000-3500, USING MANF RECOMMENDED OIL AND FILTER. THIS IS NOT TRUE, HAVE FOR THE LAST 4 YEARS USED A TORQUE WRENCH TO THE MANF SPECIFICATIONS PRINTED ON THE OIL FILTER CAP. REVIEWING THIS ON THE INTERNET AND SEES TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM ON THE PENSTAR ENGINE WHICH CHANGED FROM BOTTOM MOUNT TO TOP MOUNT OIL FILTER. MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THE REPLACEMENT COVERED UNDER THE 100,000 MILE WARRANTY BUT THIS LOCAL DEALERSHIP STATES IT WAS USER ERROR AND REFUSES TO COVER. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THEY STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,521.

TODAY WHEN TRYING TO LEAVE, I COULDN'T GET IT TO TURN OVER...AFTER ABOUT HALF AN HOUR AND MY BATTERY ALMOST DYING I DISCONNECTED THE NEGATIVE CONNECTION TO BATTERY AND IT FIRED UP AFTER RECONNECTING. THEY REPLACED A VALVE BODY FOR THE TRANSMISSION. THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY REPLACED A ROCKER ARM AND MULTIPLE OTHER PARTS AND STILL IT HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. ON SEPTEMBER 29, 2017, IT STALLED WHILE IN MOTION AT 30 MPH ON A CITY STREET. MY DAUGHTER WAS ALONE WHILE DRIVING IT AND SAT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD FOR 15 MINUTES BEFORE IT WOULD RESTART. WE HAVE TALKED WITH A MECHANIC THAT DOES NOT WORK FOR THE DEALERSHIP AND HE DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE. WHEN OIL LEVEL DROPS TO ABOUT 3 QUARTS LOW, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE JEEP GOES INTO LIMP MODE. THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED VALVE TAPPETS, THE LEFT CAMSHAFT AND THE LEFT CYLINDER HEAD UNDER MY CHRYSLER "MAXCARE" LIFETIME WARRANTY, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. JEEP CUSTOMER CARE IS NOW TELLING ME THE REPAIR MAY NO LONGER BE COVERED BY MY LIFETIME SERVICE CONTRACT (REFERENCE JEEP CUSTOMER CARE CASE NUMBER 32175924). THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER WHEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS FROM OVERHEATING AND/OR OIL LOSS IS A SAFETY ISSUE.

WHICH CAN BE CHALLENGING WHEN YOUR IN THE LEFT HAND LANE OF A FOUR LANE INTERSTATE GOING 65MPH. THIS CAUSED A TRACTOR TRAILOR TO JACK KNIFE AND SLIDE DOWN THE INTERSTATE... LUCKILY, I AND THE FEW OTHERS ON THE ROAD AT THE TIME SURVIVED. AFTER TAKING MY VEHICLE IN FOR THE FIFTH TIME FOR THE SAME PROBLEM I STARTED RESEARCHING MYSELF. I WAS SHOCKED TO FIND IT APPEARS TO BE AN EPIDEMIC PROBLEM WITH THE 12-14 JEEPS WITH THE NEW PENTASTAR ENGINES. IT ALSO APPEARS THAT NO FCA/JEEP DEALERSHIP IN THE COUNTRY HAS FIGURED IT OUT. IF THOSE WERE THE FIRST WITH THE NEW MOTOR, IT STANDS TO REASON IF IT DOESN'T APPEAR THERE IS A FIX, THAT IT WILL CONTINUE. AND I CAN TELL YOU FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, PEOPLE ARE GOING TO DIE FROM THIS SAFETY ISSUE. THIS TYPICALLY HAPPENS WHEN DOWN SHIFTING TO GET POWER, OR WHEN SHIFTING INTO GEAR AFTER BACKING OUT OF A PARKING STALL. THE THROTTLE IS LOST COMPLETELY AND THE POWER STEERING AS WELL. YOU CAN TRY TO CRANK THE VEHICLE, BUT IT WILL NOT START UNTIL AFTER ABOUT FIVE TO TEN MINUTES. IT WILL THEN START UP AND DRIVE LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED. NO CODES ARE SHOWN AND DEALERSHIPS HAVE NO WAY TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM UNLESS THEY CAN REPLICATE IT. THAT WOULD BE THE BEGINNING ANYWAY. SOME SERIOUS EFFORT NEEDS TO BE PUT INTO THIS, AGAIN, IT DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE BEING ADDRESSED, AND IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE AS THE JEEPS FROM 2012 ON GET OLDER AND GET TO THE 60K RANGE.

VEHICLE FIRST STARTED HAVING ISSUES MOVING INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE A COUPLE OF TIMES. VEHICLE THEN STARTED STALLING AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS. VEHICLE FINALLY STARTED LOSING POWER INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING/ACCELERATING CAUSING IT TO JERK SIGNIFICANTLY WHILE DRIVING. IT MOSTLY HAPPENS AT LOWER GEARS WHILE ACCELERATING FROM STOP.
AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON, CRUISE CONTROL (AS WELL AS ALL OTHER CONTROLS MOUNTED ON THE STEERING WHEEL) ARE INOPERABLE.
