NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2015 Jeep Wrangler. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
The radiator is poorly built and leaks, I have had mine replace several times by the dealership This is dangerous because it causes overheating in the engine which can cause hose to bust and engine to seize up . The oil filter house is engineered incorrect and all of them have been breaking causing oil to leak which again, ruins other components in the engine because of loss of oil. Its dangerous because the oil that leaks down through the outer portion of the engine, through to the sides and leaks over the bottom of the transmission onto the ground which is: 1. Environmental hazard- oil leaking causes water pollution, soil contamination, harm to animals and plants 2. Leaking oil is a FIRE HAZARD and safety issues for other vehicles causing slippery conditions for other vehicles 3. Causes engine damage and eventually failure I urge you to obtain the records of all the repairs jeep dealers did both under warranty and past the warranty dates. Your team will see what an issue this is and the 10000000s of Jeep Wranglers that have had these unsafe problems with the OIL Filter Housing and Radiator issues during and after the warranty. Jeep / Chrysler have created a deceptive way for revenue by allowing Jeep dealers to charge the customers for faulty engineering so they can gain profits in repairs that is the Manufacturer's own fault thereby gouging Jeep Wrangler owners.
The ABS module in Jeep vehicles have been going out for a while now. The parts have not been made to repair this issue since at least 2023. It has been in an engineering review and just gets pushed back month after month. My module went out last year and the parts can not be fount to repair this issue. With the module not working, the cruise control does not work, traction control does not work, and most importantly, the ABS system does not work. What can be done about this due to safety concerns?
Check engine light came on for misfire in Cylinder 4. Jeep lost power when on the road
My clock spring on my jeep stopped working. I know when I looked online there is a recall on 2015 jeep wrangler clock spring being bad. My horn, steering controls, and air bags aren’t working correctly. If it’s recalled it should be fixed free of charge.
The traction control light and ABS dash lights will come on and the vehicle will jerk and bog down while driving. It is very dangerous and needs to be fixed. I looked on jeep forum to see if I could see what's going on with it and there were a bunch of jeeps that have the same problem.
Apparently this recall is from 2019 and I just got a call which I thought was spam advising of this dangerous recall.
I have just replaced the Engine oil filter housing on my 2015 jeep wrangler unlimited rubicon for the fourth time the first three replacements were at East hills jeep on Long Island n.y the fourth repair was at Willis ave repair and diagnostic in Albertson N.Y at a cost of $859.33. Ongoing problem with thousands of other jeeps owners reporting the same issue. during the course of these breakdowns, I’ve had to have my vehicle towed to the repair place twice as the oil had drained out of the vehicle causing fatigue and overheating to the engine. I currently has 95,000 miles on my jeep witch is well taken care of and serviced at the East hills jeep dealership. My concern is future damage to my engine due to the extreme temperatures caused by the lack of oil and overheating due to this defect. How is it that the manufacturer is not held responsible for an obvious defect in a crucial engine component causing multiple replacements to thousands of similar vehicles.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at 40 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The check engine warning light was flashing. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the oil pressure sensor circuit had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to two other local dealers, Marino Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (5133 W Irving Park Rd, Chicago, IL 60641) and Dodge Parts Overstock Parts (2875 Mall Hill Dr, Lakeland, FL 33810), where it was diagnosed the oil pressure sensor circuit had failed and needed to be replaced. The oil pressure sensor circuit was replaced, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 107,272.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. While the contact's wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. Additionally, the contact stated the vehicle failed to exceed 20 MPH. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with ABS module failure. The contact was informed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed that the parts were on backorder. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 25,400.
Repetitive intermittent failure of ABS and Traction control related to fault code of Right Rear speed sensor. This item has been worked 9 previous times by Chrysler / Jeep and is being delivered for additional work on [XXX]. This issue causes loss of ABS, traction control regardless of road or driving conditions for up to 8 continuous hours. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Cranked my vehicle from a cold start and it started running very rough. Had a mechanic put a code scanner on it and it read cylinder #2 misfire. I have been told this is very problematic with the 3.6 pentastar engine and a costly repair. If this is a factory defect I would like to be informed about any and all considerations to which I am entitled to. Thank you very much.
The ABS Module malfunctions and causes breaks to not work properly. Called dealership and was told to call at later date because the part is being redesigned due to failure. No recall has been sent to owners. Have had to replace break sensors more than two times and not able to drive vehicle until new ABS part available for $1,800. Have had issues with breaks locking up while trying to drive in past and dealership had to repair the ABS modular. This is a safety issue needs to be researched. Prior vehicle with same issue were recalled. JUNE 17, 2022 — Chrysler ABS module repairs are necessary based on a recall of more than 270,000 model year 2018-2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs.
I have been waiting on a part that been on back order for months- ABS module anti lock braking system in my 2015 Jeep Wrangler- I'm not the only 1 waiting for this part to come off back order been since Feb 2024 I've been waiting its Oct 2024 - They need to recall it if they cant take off back order very dangerous to drive
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the ABS, brake, and traction control warning lights illuminated. Additionally, the cruise control function was inoperable. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the dealer, who determined that the ABS module needed to be replaced; however, the part was on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.
An ABS warning light and brake warning light illuminated on the dash. Vehicle traction control and ABS systems are inoperable as a result of the fault. I have attempted to purchase a replacement ABS module to correct the failure for over a year now. Several dealerships have cancelled my order after it has gone unfulfilled. The most recent order was placed on 7/30/24 The part has been on order through the dealership and the release date continues to be pushed back. Part Number is 68259556AD
ABS module needs replacing which can lead to accidents and care unexpectedly going into lump mode. Part is impossible to get as Jeep as not produced in years and on permanent backorder. This is a safety hazard for myself and my family. Jeep refuses to issue a recall or offer a fix.
ABS module failure. ABS system deactivated. Lights on dash. Replacement module not available.
ABS Control module failed (code C2200). Loss of anti-lock brakes and traction control. Confirmed failure by dealer. Part (Mopar 68259556AD) is on "national back-order" with no other replacement options. Failure occurred middle January 2024, with dealer confirmation January 22nd, 2024. As of May 28th, 2024, the part is still on "back-order" (4 months in this case) rendering the Jeep unsafe to drive in the city.
Ticking noise in engine from lifters and faulty pin. Potential failure for cams.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The component that failed is the oil filter housing/assembly. It was changed out by the Pep Boys I do not have it on hand but upon research it appears that this is a known issue on the 3.6 and the 3.2 Chrysler Pentastar engines. Mopar made this part out of entirely plastic and it is now failing on a ton of vehicles. The replacement parts are all made out of metal/aluminum. Safety: this not only put myself at a safety risk but also puts other motorists on the road at risk. Not to mention the environmental safety that this can cause. The plastic part contains the oil filter for the engine. After time it warps and fails causing cracks and seal leaks that allows oil to drain out of the engine, onto the transmission manifold and all over the ground/road. There is no warning for this, one day you will walk out and find your vehicle bleeding all of its oil all over the pavement. This could happen to anyone at any time. I would hate to be on a motorcycle driving behind a Chrysler engine when their engine decides to fall apart and slick up the expressway with motor oil. Jeep/Chrysler knows that this is happening, they know it’s a problem because the replacement part is made of metal instead of plastic, and they refuse to do anything about this even under warranty. This is a part that is NEVER supposed to go bad on any cars, this is NOT a wear and tear part. I would like to see them held accountable for their (lack of) actions.
FAILURE OF COMBINED OIL FILTER / COOLER HOUSING RESULTING IN ABRUPT LOSS OF ENGINE OIL AND RESULTING IN SMALL FIRE FOLLOWING EXHAUST SYSTEM SATURATION FROM LEAKING OIL
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the traction control, Lane Keep Assist, emergency brake, and driver assistant steering systems warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the cruise control was inoperable while the warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the Traction Control Failure warning light illuminated without the vehicle being driven. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the wheel speed sensor and brake module had failed. The wheel sensor was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, Garber Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (3408 US-17, Green Cove Springs, FL 32043); and was diagnosed with brake module failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 145,000.
At 134,000 miles the engine developed a loud ticking. My garage reported that rocker arms, cam shafts and heads needed rrplacement. They recommended that Jeep dealer should be performing the work so that I might have a parts warranty. The dealer reported back that the work would be extensive and recommended engine replacement with a $13,000 estimate.
Faulty oil cooler. 2 different mechanics reported this as a common problem with 2015 jeep wrangler. Due to the way this model was made, the oil cooler is too close to the hot engine making it faulty. As well as the parts around it all have to be replaced. I've been told not to drive the vehicle due to fire hazard. The estimates I've been given are $1400 and up. I've also read many complaints about this same issue, same vehicle, same year, on several different web sites.
I’ve heard many complaints that the oil filter housing on the 2014 jeeps and up have had cracking problems
FAULTY OIL FILTER HOUSING-KNOWN TO MANUFACTURE , causing vehicle to SHUT DOWN, oil sensors not working, shut down on main hwy, potential fire hazard with oil all over vehicle under carriage and in valley top of motor . THIS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM that no-one wants to address i'm on my 3rd housing and all oem mopar parts( PLASTIC)at tune 1200+, PLEASE INVESTIGATE MAKE THEM STOP USING PLASTIC PARTS AND REPLACE WITH METAL , plastic cracks with heat, flawed design by manufacture , leaving vehicle stuck in traffic high chance of harm to other drivers on road
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle unexpectedly stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic; however, the contact was unsure about the diagnostic result. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Repeated failure of right / rear wheel speed sensor. This failure causes immediate loss of automated traction control and ABS system. This item has been worked at 2 separate dealerships for a total of 7 occurrences. Each failure results in warning lamps at instance of failure and retained OBD code. Each occurrence this component has been replaced.
Vehicle engine light flashing while vehicle is on. Vehicle shaking, odometor and other gauges are sporadically flashing and shutting off while driving.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the brake light, ABS, and traction control warning lights illuminated. The contact called an independent mobile mechanic to the residence who diagnosed the vehicle with a defective control module. The contact reached out to the manufacturer and was informed that the parts needed to repair the vehicle was on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 93,700.
MY ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED AND MADE IT WHERE I CANNOT SET MY CRUISE CONTROL AND THE PART THAT IS REQUIRED TO FIX HAS BEEN ON NATION WIDE BACKORDER SINCE SEPTEMBER 30 OF 2023 THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A SAFETY PART TO BE THAT HARD TO REPLACE AND IF THAT MANY ARE ON BACKORDER IT SHOULD BE RECALLED . THE CK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD GO ON AND OFF FOR A FEW MONTHES
The rear axel continues to blow out the bearings on both sides which ruins the brakes and calibers. 4 times this has happened and I have not been off roads. This is all on the highway. The certified technician said the rear axels need to be replaced. Jeep manufacturer said it is known as a common problem with Jeep so why am I having to pay for it. I want new axels and Jeep should cover it. Plus the electric door locks do not work and it is not a fuse. Jeep said it is a computer error on Jeep but won’t cover it.
My Jeep has a left cylinder head failure at 78k miles. Jeep forums are full of discussions regarding this issue. The dealer says there is no reason for the failure and that they have seen this before. Jeep says my warranty is expired so I am out of luck. This is my third Jeep and the first time I have had any issue mechanically. This failure is not from normal wear and tear. It's very frustrating that no recall on this obviously faulty engine part exists.
I have experience a complete loss of control of the vehicle on both highways and streets that are bumpy due to dips, potholes, rough conditions due to the road. I received a misfire on cylinder 4 code P0304 and was told my vehicle isn’t covered for any recalls, but see that this is a common issue in 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2017 models. I want to know if any recalls or lawsuits are going on because my dealership informed me there aren’t any and it would take a week to even be able to diagnose the issue.
1. driving speeds of 60+ mph my hood lifts up. pull over to double check hood latches- take to CAWOOD in PORT HURON sold jeep. (A) don't worry it a JEEP don't WORRY it is latched. WHY NO HELP CRYSLER JEEP!
ABS, Traction Control, and Brake lights have been on for more than a year. I have taken it to Jeep Dealership here in Jacksonville, FL and they have continually tried to order the part from Jeep, but are told that the part is. not available at this time. I called Jeep directly and have been told "Part STOCK is under QUARANTINE pending quality / engineering review and inspection. Working to obtain timing on resolve to predict allocation and shipment to DLR to fulfill No firm ETA to provide at this time. Pending response from SPLR / PKG Working to improve." Which is not really an answer. My ABS does not work, and my car cannot be put into cruise control mode without this part being replaced. I feel that my car is not safe without ABS and traction control functioning properly. Part in question is: 68259556AD Module
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The contact stated that the failure had occurred several times while driving on a busy freeway. The failure also occurred while the vehicle was idling at a red light. After the failure, the vehicle was restarted and operated normally. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable duplicate a failure or determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contacted stated that after retrieving the vehicle the failure persisted. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 113,000.
I had a 2015 2 dr Jeep Wrangler Willy's edition. In march 2023, after sitting cold in the driveway for 10+ hours, it spontaneously combusted. It was very obviously an electrical fire based on the smell alone. It appeared that the most damage was in the area of the battery and fuse box. Vehicle was completely totaled and I found many reports online of similar issues, including many wranglers that were completely totaled after the fire. There is no official acknowledgement of this recurring issue. The fire caught so fast, if I had not been parked in the driveway faced away from the house, I might not have a home either. Insurance did not do an investigation into the cause of the fire.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed passenger’s side air bag sensor. The contact was informed that the passenger’s side air bag sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.
Horn on steering wheel doesn’t work. This could cause a safety concern when trying to avoid a car accident. The following steering wheel controls don’t work; Horn, radio controls, average fuel economy. Cruise control button is the only functioning button on the steering wheel.
Buttons on steering wheel does not work also the horn does not work also. I believe it's the clockspring which is a recall for some jeeps but not mine. Which affects the horn and airbag.
While driving we had a huge oil leak, with out the oil indicator light turning on. The Pentastar oil filter housing was cracked leaking oil all over the engine and leaving a burning smell. Same exact thing happened in 2022 to our jeep grand cherokee. There needs to be a recall by Jeep, this is a known defect and safety hazard !! Why no recall???
My ABS Modules Code C2200 and cruise control does not function. Chrysler states they are not replacing the malfunctioning part nor will they make a new part to purchase.
Oil filter housing assembly failed
It went into severe vibration and vibration of steering. It was uncontrollable. It happened in my first highway trip since I purchased the vehicle. The vehicle had to be towed 100 miles. Cost of this was $5697.97. After I paid $30,000+. to Autonation in Spring Texas. Car was released to me with no inspection sticker. Electrical issues were looked at by the dealership and said there is nothing wrong. Can not see at night and turning signals work on and off. Defective roof seals that are leaking into the seatbelt tensioners. When I pull seatbelts to buckle they are wet. The tensioners are sitting in water when it rains.
My truck was making a loud clicking noise and kind or rattle. I took the vehicle in to be serviced. I was told that I needed to have all lifters, rockers and cams replaced. That these items being worn out is a known issue with Jeep Wranglers but there has not been a recall for this issue. The dealership replaced those items the camshaft exhaust, camshaft intake, arm valve, tappet valve lash, gasket cylinder and gasket intake. As stated by the dealership having to replace the lifters, rockers and cams is a known issue. Most people just trade the truck in. I would like to know if this is a known issue why has there not been a recall for this? Also because of the cams this caused the cylinder misfire in the engine.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the vehicle stalled temporarily. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving; however, the failure reoccurred while driving. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 141,200.
abs module failing causing brake pedal to shake and harden up to where you cant press brake pedal down and doesnt come to complete stop right away abs kicks in while driving or at times when abs should not engage causing vehicle to not stop properly. called dealership to replace and statement given that the abs module is under investigation of engineering and can not be sold
ABS Module failure C2200 code
I have had the oil filter housing crack two times costing over 1 grand each time to have replaced by a shop. The lifters and rockers have gone out on each side of engine now with not even 91k miles on vehicle. Drivers side had 62,000 miles and then the passenger side had 91,000 miles on it. Maintenance has been done on time and not over due.
