TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2002 KIA SEDONA EX. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE PRECEDING VEHICLE. ALL THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE POLICE ARRIVED AT THE SCENE, BUT A REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO AN IMPOUND LOT. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE NECK, LOWER BACK, LEFT SHOULDER, AND CHEST, WHICH DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
BEFORE THE INCIDENT THERE WERE ISSUES WITH THE REAR CAPTAIN CHAIRS SEAT BELT LATCH WHEN TRYING TO BUCKLE THEM. I HAVE THREE SMALL CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 3 YEARS OF AGE AND IT IS VERY IMPORTANT AND CRUCIAL THAT SEAT BELTS ARE IN WORKING ORDER WITHOUT ISSUES FOR THE SAFETY OF THEIR WELL BEING. BEFORE THE INCIDENT THE SEATS THEMSELVES IN THE REAR ROWS HAD ISSUES LATCHING AS WELL WHEN BEING INSTALLED. ON AUGUST 18, 2015 MYSELF AND THREE SMALL CHILDREN WERE IN A SEVERE HIGH IMPACT ACCIDENT AND NONE OF THE AIRBAGS HAD GONE OFF LIKE THEY NEVER EXISTED. MY KIDS AND I SUFFER FROM SEAT BELT ABRASIONS AND I SUFFER FROM BRUISING IN MULTIPLE PLACES FROM MY HEAD DOWN, SHOULDER PAIN AND BACK ISSUES. POLICE, PARAMEDIC'S, COLLISION CENTER, WITNESSES, AND MY INSURANCE COMPANY WERE ALL NOTIFIED OR HAD NOTIFIED ABOUT THE AIRBAGS. APPARENTLY, MY SEAT WHICH WAS THE DRIVER SEAT WAS ALSO COMPLETELY SNAPPED OFF AS WELL. UPDATED 08/26/15*BF
THE AIRBAGS SYMBOL HAS BEEN REMAINING ON. IT WAS TAKEN TO MANY DIFFERENT SHOPS BUT THEY SAY THAT IT HAS TO DO WITH THE AIRBAGS PROBLEM. THERE IS NOTHING THAT THESE MECHANICS CAN DO. SO I WAS TOLD TO REPORT THIS ISSUE TO KIA.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 KIA SEDONA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH AND CRASHED INTO THE REAR ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUFFERED HEAD, NECK AND BACK INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AT THE SCENE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. DRIVING HOME AND A DEER JUMPED OUT IN FRONT OF MY VAN AND I HIT THE DEER AND TOTALED MY VAN BAD WHERE THE AIR BAGS SHOULD OF WENT OFF BUT IT DIDN'T NOW THERE'S A LIGHT ON THE DASH THAT LOOKS LIKE A GUY SITTING IN A SEAT WITH A BELT ON AND AN AIR BAG IN FRONT OF IT.

AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATING INTERMITTENTLY - TOOK TO DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSTIC IN 2010. KIA DEALERSHIP IN TURNERSVILLE SAID THAT LIGHT ILLUMINATING WAS NORMAL AND NO ISSUE. I RECENTLY HAD TIMING CHAIN REPLACED BY SAME DEALERSHIP - DIFFERENT TECH. THIS TIME THEY SAID THAT THE LIGHT MEANT THE AIRBAGS WOULD NOT DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT! THEY SAID REPAIRS WOULD NOT BE COVERED! THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO INSPECTED THE AIR BAGS AND STATED THE PRETENSIONER WIRING HARNESS WAS INSTALLED INCORRECTLY. THE DEALER INFORMED HER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,900.
MY 2002 KIA SEDONA EX HAS A FAULT WITH THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT OCCUPANCY SENSOR. IT MAKES THE AIRBAG LIGHT COME ON BUT WORST OF ALL IN A HEAD ON COLLISION THE AIRBAGS WILL MOST LIKELY NOT DEPLOY. *TR

ON 2/11/11 MY KIA SEDONA AIRBAG LIGHT WENT ON AND STAYED ON. UPON EXTENSIVE RESEARCH, I'VE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE ON THE SAME ISSUE. ON 2/28/11, I HAD THE AIRBAG MODULE SENSOR REPLACED BY A PRIVATE MECHANIC. TWO WEEKS AFTER BEING REPLACED, THE AIRBAG LIGHT WENT ON AGAIN AND STAYED ON. I HAVE REPAIRED/REPLACED THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OF PARTS ON THIS KIA, MAKING IT THE MOST EXPENSIVE VEHICLE I'VE EVER OWNED IN THE PAST 32 YEARS. I WAS TOLD THAT WITH THE AIRBAG LIGHT ALWAYS ON, THAT IN AN ACCIDENT MY AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY. I HAVE 84,000 MILES ON THIS VAN. THE ONLY WARRANTY REMAINING FROM KIA IS THEIR 100,000/10 YR POWER TRAIN, WHICH BASICALLY COVERS NOTHING. WITH ALL THE COMPLAINTS ON THIS MOST EXTREME SAFETY ISSUE, AND THE FACT THAT KIA TOUTS THIS VEHICLE AS A 5 STAR SAFETY RATING, THEY SHOULD BE "FORCED" TO RECALL THIS APPARENT MANUFACTURING DEFECT. ASIDE FROM BRAKES, AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT IS THE SECOND MOST IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE PROTECTING ITS' DRIVER AND PASSENGERS. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS VAN AND HAVE KEPT IT WELL MAINTAINED. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 45 MPH, HE HEARD A LOUD NOISE FROM THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND THE SEAT BELT TIGHTENED CUTTING OFF HIS CIRCULATION. THE CONTACT HAD TO MOVE THE SEAT BACK TO GET AND UNLOCK THE SEAT BELT. A FEW MINUTES LATER, THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO GET THE PASSENGER SIDE UNLOCKED. THE FAILURE LEFT THE CONTACT INJURED ACROSS THE CHEST AND WAIST. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 50,000.
I HAD A FEW OCCASIONS WHERE THE MIDDLE ROW SEATBELTS LOCKED UP AND IT TOOK AWHILE FOR THEM TO UNLOCK SO I COULD BUCKLE MY CHILDREN IN. OVER A WEEK AGO ONE LOCKED UP AND WE COULDN'T GET IT TO UNLOCK. I HAD TO TAKE MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND IT TURNED OUT I NEEDED TO HAVE THREE (BOTH MIDDLE ROW ONE REAR ROW) SEATBELT REPLACED. ALL NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 KIA SEDONA. WHEN THE CONTACT STARTED THE VEHICLE, THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT BEGAN SMOKING. THE SEAT BELT THEN CAUGHT FIRE WHEN IT CAME IN CONTACT WITH THE WIRES ATTACHED TO THE SEAT BELT CONNECTOR AND A PIECE OF HARD PLASTIC AROUND THE BOTTOM OF THE SEAT (SEAT GUARD). THE CONTACT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. KIA STATED THAT A RECALL REPAIR HAD BEEN PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE IN APRIL OF 2006 AND THAT SHE WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY CURRENT REPAIRS. THE SEAT BELT AREA OF THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED BY THE DEALER OR A MECHANIC. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR HANDLE FAILED AND A NEW ONE HAD BEEN ORDERED BEFORE THE FIRE OCCURRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 77,600.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 KIA SEDONA. WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 25 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE THAT ATTACHES TO THE PASSENGER SIDE MIDDLE SEAT OF THE VEHICLE FRACTURED AND DETACHED AT THE SEAM. THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN INFORMED.
BACK IN 2003, THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON MY VAN CAME ON AND WOULD NOT GO AWAY. IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THE PROBLEM WAS A DEFECTIVE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT BUCKLE. THAT WAS REPLACED. NOW IN 2005 THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND WOULD NOT GO AWAY AGAIN. MY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED, SO I TRIED FINDING OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS MYSELF. IT WAS THE SAME PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT BUCKLE. THE PROBLEM WAS A BROKEN WIRE IN THE HARNESS TO THE SENSOR. THE CAUSE WAS A METAL CLIP THAT PINCHES THE HARNESS, AND WITH THE MOVEMENT OF PUTTING THE SEAT BELT ON AND OFF, EVENTUALLY LEADING TO THE WIRE BREAKAGE. THAT I FIXED MYSELF AND AIRBAG LIGHT WENT OUT. IN 2006, THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND WOULD NOT GO OUT. THE PROBLEM NOW IS THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT BUCKLE, ONCE AGAIN A BROKEN WIRE AT THE CLIP. ONCE AGAIN MY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED SO I AM GOING TO FIX IT MYSELF. THIS KIND OF PROBLEM CAN BE FIXED IF THE CLIPS ARE REMOVED, EXTENDING THE LIFE OF THE SENSING UNIT. I AM SURE THAT THERE ARE MANY OTHERS WITH THAT SAME PROBLEM. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THIS DEFECT FIXED. *JB

THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BELT CAME OFF THE SIDE WALL AND WAS NOT USABLE. I HAD THE DEALER RE-ATTACH IT AND ASKED IF THERE WAS A RECALL DUE TO THIS PROBLEM AND THEY SAID NO. *JB
