Auto dealer fraud 8/3 2024 dealership sold me a title washed lemon with major safety hazards Defective unrepairable components Discovered later after purchase P0885 limp mode Fire hazard the vehicle may catch on fire when parked Went back to the dealership that I purchased from for a P0885 on December 4 2024 Returned Back to me march 18 2025 with a blown motor I asked the tow truck driver to be a witness to me firing up the vehicle for documentation Rey Prado of Prado towing located in Delaware he can verify my account Of events will give statement Dealership breached a bonded contract from a November 2021 purchase a 2004 ford f 250 super duty pick up truck vin# [XXX] and placed the title on the loan for the 2006 Kia Sedona without my prior knowledge the vehicle was purchased August 8 2024 with the cosign on August 21 2024 the dealer and staff purposely held the the buyer’s and purchasing agreement to pack the loan , the purchase agreement was finally given to me December 13 2024 after months of delay from the owners and staff . Owner finally told me on a march 17 2025 phone call he kept my title as a vested interest after I paid it off full in our contract agreement 8 months after the contract was signed the dealership operated in a Criminal Civil Rico fashion with me and is and has been extremely uncooperative with since I have been demanding all the original contracts for both vehicles , on February 20 while reviewing documentation that I was told was my title release forms I noticed a difference in dates they had me sign and date at the bottom 12/13/24 but the top of of the document it had a date of 12/2/2024 I didn’t realize this at first because they had me so confused about the van deal the truck title it seemed very systematic and intentional like they were purposely trying to confuse me about both contracts and my title it’s been a nightmare since then Please please please some one help my my mind and body are suffering because of this INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The contact owns a 2006 Kia Sedona LX. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V088000 (Electrical System, Service Brakes, Hydraulic) and stated that while powered off, he observed smoke emanating from the engine compartment. The contact stated that when the hood was opened, fire erupted from the engine compartment. The contact extinguished the fire. No police report or fire report was made available. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that an unknown part needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000.
Driver's airbag deployed prematurely. What should I do?

Intermittently not starting. Not cranking. Battery has been checked. Alternator is ok. We've left it with our mechanic for a week and he was unable to replicate the issue. It's happening a couple times a month. We wait about 20 minutes then the Kia starts up. Yes the van is available for inspection. My safety was at risk as the van not starting in below freezing Temps. No it has not been inspected by manufacturer. No warning lamps before or during issue. Issue has been going on over 3 months.

The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. The contact stated that the brake lights failed to operate as needed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. I obtained this vehicle from a relative in Ohio. They tried twice to have the recall repaired and twice they showed for an appointment to find out parts were not available. I bought and brought the car to Florida. I started the same process here with Daytona Kia {(386) 252-7000}. I have had 2 appointments. The first on 8/31/2021 I cancelled having called the day before to be told the part was not in. As I was not communicated with despite being told I would be called, I initiated another effort in October. After being assured the part was in I made an appointment for November 20, 2021. That Saturday morning I sat in their waiting room for 1 1/2 hours just to be finally told the part was not in and they would inform me when it was. Parts still backordered.
The contact owns a 2006 Kia Sedona. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked in a parking lot, the vehicle erupted in flames without warning. Fire marshals were called and extinguished the fire. No one was injured and a report was taken. The contact mentioned a possible smoke inhalation from the smoke. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The manufacturer was informed of failure and was awaiting a response. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
Driving slowly out of parking lot a loud bang was heard. Scraping noise was heard from under van, drove about 25 yards then stopped at side of road. Left rear wheel was crooked and under van the left rear lower control arm was broken in half and was dragging on ground, left rear wheel was off ground. No one was injured, no other damage to this vehicle or others. This vehicle was previously serviced on Kia Service Campaign SC102, unknown date. Would have been serious accident if this occurred at highway speeds. Both lower control arms have been replaced, parts saved for inspection. Pictures attached. Kia was notified of this, case #[XXX]. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RACK & PINION STEERING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED WITH A NEW RACK & PINION HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE RACK AND PINION. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT A KIA DEALER RACK & PINION WAS TESTED AND FAILED, AND WAS UNABLE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT SIX MONTHS AGO, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, THE RACK AND PINION WAS REPLACED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 112,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
BOUGHT A VAN THE NEXT DAY MY BREAKS WERE METAL ON METAL. I FOUND OUT IT WAS FLOODED. THE SECOND DAY THE KEY STUCK IN THE IGNITION, THE MIDDLE SEATS GOT STUCK AND WILL NOT FOLD UP. THE DEALER SAID THEIR MECHANIC WENT ALL OVER THE VAN AND SAID IT WAS IN GOOD CONDITION. THE CALIPERS ARE IN VERY BAD SHAPE. HE SAID THEY NEED REPLACED SOON.*DT*JB
WCS ERROR . AIRBAG SYSTEM ISSUE .KIA RECALLED 2015 BUT DOESNT BOTHER ON EARLIER CARS.SOMETIMES CAR DOESNT START MANY HAVE THIS ISSUES IT HAS TO DO WITH IMMOBILIZER WIRES .AND BRAKES WITH ROTORS ARE BAD EVERY 2 YEARS BREAKS AND ROTORS GET KILLED .MY CAR HAS ONLY 56856 MLS
VAN HAS JUST OVER 115XXX MILES ON IT. HAVE NOTICED THAT TRANSMISSION HAS A WHIP OR SLIP FEEL WHEN YOU TAKE FOOT OFF GAS PEDAL AND THEN REAPPLY FOOT TO GAS PEDAL. TOOK TO MY MECHANIC AND HE STATED THAT TRANSMISSION IS SHOWING WEAR. WANTED TO REPORT DUE TO POTENTIAL RECALL IN THE FUTURE.
PASSENGER SIDE RR CONTROL ARM RUSTED THROUGH WHICH CAUSED IT TO BEND AND CAUSED RR TIRE TO FOLD INWARD. HAD TO REPLACE RR CONTROL ARM, RR COIL SPRING AND SHOCKS ON BOTH SIDES WHICH WAS AFFECTED BY RUSTED CONTROL ARM. I BROUGHT IT IN TO REPAIR SHOP WHEN I NOTICED A LOUD THUMP WHEN GOING OVER A BUMP. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL.
LEFT REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM HAD RUSTED AND BROKE WHILE BACKING UP IN A PARKING LOT.
I WENT TO THE DEALER KIA ORISMAN ON JUNE 22 IN THE MORNING. YOU WILL INFORM ME THAT YOU HAVE TO MAKE AN ORDER FOR PART. I CALLED AFTER A WEEK AND THE PART HAD NOT ARRIVED. IT'S BEEN TWO WEEKS AND YOU STILL WON'T CALL ME. I WANT TO SELL MY CAR AND I CAN'T.
POWER STEERING PUMP HAS HAD TO BE REPLACED 4 TIMES IN PAST 4 YEARS. NEEDS REPLACEMENT ABOUT EVERY YEAR BIT LAST 2 WERE 6 MINTHS APART. SOMETHING IS CAUSING FRICTION AND RUINING PUMPS. MAKES FLUID INSTANTLY POUR OUT AND CAR IS UNCONTROLLABLE. SO DANGEROUS

PAINT ISSUES WITH VEHICLE. PAINT CLEAR COAT PEELS OFF. NOTICED ON MANY KIA SEDONAS SAND JUST HAD TO HAVE VAN REPAINTED DUE TO CLEAR COAT ISSUE.
THERE IS AN OPEN RECALL ON MY VEHICLE, NHTSA RECALL NUMBER 20V088 KIA RECALL NUMBER SC186. THIS RECALL HAS BEEN OPEN SINCE APRIL 8, OVER A MONTH NOW, AND HAS A CHANCE OF THE VEHICLE CATCHING FIRE SO IT MUST BE PARKED AWAY FROM MY HOUSE. ON A PREVIOUS RECALL OF CHEVROLET, WHICH JUST HAD A CHANCE OF THE KEY COMING LOSE FROM THE IGNITION, A DIFFERENT VEHICLE WAS PROVIDED WHILE THE RECALL WAS BEING REMEDIED. I FEEL THAT THIS RECALL IS MORE SEVERE THAN THAT ONE AND AFTER A MONTH ITS A HUGE INCONVENIENCE TO HAVE TO PARK MY CAR IN THE STREET AWAY FROM MY HOUSE. *TR
MY 2006 KIA SEDONA MINIVAN HAS AN INTERMITTENT FAILURE CAUSING IT NOT TO START. ALL ELECTRICAL WORKS EXCEPT THE ENGINE & STARTER. TURN THE KEY TO START & IT DOES NOT TURN OVER. THE AUTOMOTIVE MECHANICAL TERM USED TO DESCRIBE THIS CONDITION IS "NO CRANK". THE STARTER & ENGINE REMAIN OFF. AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS IT STARTS AFTER 5-30 MINUTES. WE HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS & THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE &/OR REPAIR THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE IS SO WIDE SPREAD THAT THERE IS A YOUTUBE WEBSITE DESCRIBING THE PROBLEM & OFFERING A SOLUTION WITH OVER 96,000 VIEWS. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIPS REFUSE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM UNLESS THEY CAN DUPLICATE THE MALFUNCTION AT THE TIME OF THE SERVICE VISIT. MOTORISTS ARE HAVING TO ENDURE REPEATED BREAKDOWNS WITHOUT REMEDY. THERE IS NO KNOWN PROCEDURE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM USING EMERGENCY SERVICE WHEN THE EVENT OCCURS. HYUNDAI ALSO HAS THE IDENTICAL ISSUE IN THEIR MINI VANS AS WELL. BOTH MODELS ARE BUILT AS A JOINT VENTURE BETWEEN KIA & HYUNDAI. PLEASE REQUIRE THEM TO ISSUE A RECALL TO CORRECT THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM. ON FRIDAY, APRIL 17TH, 2020, [XXX] RECEIVED THE SAFETY RECALL INTERIM NOTICE FOR HIS 2006 KIA SEDONA STATING THAT THE ENGINE IS AT RISK FOR FIRE WHEN VEHICLE IS OFF. THE LETTER STATES TO PARK THE VEHICLE UNTIL REPAIRED AND SAYS THAT THE RISK OF FIRE IS DUE TO MOISTURE IN AN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM OF THE ENGINE THAT CAN SHORT OUT EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS SHUT OFF. WE HAVE PLEADED WITH KIA FINDLAY AND THE KIA CONSUMER CENTER TO AT LEAST CHECK FOR MOISTURE IN THE UNIT OF CONCERN, BUT WERE TURNED AWAY. WE ALSO REQUESTED A LOANER VEHICLE IN THE INTERIM AND AGAIN, THEY REFUSED AND SAID THEY CANNOT HELP UNLESS THE ENGINE CATCHES FIRE. WE ARE AFRAID TO HAVE THE VEHICLE HERE AND WOULD LIKE A LOANER UNTIL IT'S REPAIRED, RATHER THAN RISK A CATASTROPHE. RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM KIA DATED 4/8/20 STATING HYDRAULIC ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT, WHICH CONTROLS ESC, TSC AND ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM, REMAINS ENERGIZED WHEN VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND AN ELECTRICAL SHORT CIRCUIT INCREASES THE RISK OF ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE EVEN WHEN CAR IS TURNED OFF. THE PARTS ARE NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE TO FIX THIS. IN THE MEANTIME, I AM TO PARK MY VEHICLE OUTDOORS AWAY FROM OTHER VEHICLES AND STRUCTURES. I CALLED MY LOCAL KIA DEALERSHIP TO INQUIRE IF THEY KNEW WHEN THE REPAIR WOULD BE AVAILABLE AND THEY DID NOT EVEN KNOW OF ITS EXISTENCE. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID KIA BLOWS THINGS OUT OF PROPORTION AND SCARES PEOPLE AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHEN AND IF THE REPAIR PARTS WILL BE IN. THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE RESPONSE. KIA NEEDS TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE DEALERSHIPS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THEY NEED TO FIX IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO AVOID INJURY TO CONSUMERS. I AM LEFT WITH A VAN THAT HAS THE RISK OF CATCHING ON FIRE. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT A FUTURE RECALL NOTICE HAD NOT BEEN RELEASED DUE TO PARTS FOR A REMEDY NOT YET BEING AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 228,000.
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ENTER TRAFFIC FROM OUR DRIVEWAY UPON ACCELERATION THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK AND A LOUD "THUD" WAS HEARD WITHIN THE VEHICLE. MY WIFE WHO WAS DRIVING ATTEMPTED TO BACK THE VEHICLE INTO OUR DRIVEWAY BUT WAS UNABLE AS THE VEHICLE WAS UNRESPONSIVE. WHEN I GOT TO THE VEHICLE AND INSPECTED IT, I NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER TIRE WAS TIPPED OUTWARD, SO I INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE LOWER CONTROL ARM HAD SNAPPED AND WENT THROUGH THE TRANSAXLE RENDERING THE VEHICLE INOPERABLE. WHEN LOOKING AT OUR VEHICLE PAPERWORK WE REALIZED THAT THIS PARTICULAR PART WAS REPLACED DUE TO A RECALL IN 2016. WE CONTACTED THE DEALER WHO INFORMED US THAT WE WOULD NEED TO TAKE UP THE COMPLAINT WITH KIA DIRECTLY. WE DID SO AND WERE INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO ACTIVE RECALLS ON THIS REPLACEMENT PART AND THAT THEY ONLY WARRANTIED THESE REPLACEMENTS FOR 12 MONTHS. WE WANTED TO ALERT YOU TO THIS ISSUE AS I FEEL THAT THIS KIND OF DAMAGE SHOULD NOT OCCUR TO A 3-YEAR-OLD REPLACEMENT PART ON A VEHICLE THAT ONLY GETS DRIVEN TO TAKE THE KIDS TO AND FROM SCHOOL DAILY.

DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN FRONT CONTROL ARM MOUNT AT SUBFRAME BROKE, CAUSING STEERING AND SUSPENSION TO MALFUNCTION ALMOST CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL AND ACCIDENT. LUCKILY, NOBODY WAS IN THE ONCOMING LANE, OR I WOULD HAVE HIT HEAD ON WITH ANOTHER CAR AND AUTO BECAME HARD TO STEER/CONTROL UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO BRAKE DOWN TO LOWER SPEED. KIA HAS KNOWN RECALL FOR LOWER CONTROL ARMS RUSTING, BUT NOTHING PER DEALER FOR SUBFRAME RUSTING/BREAKING. THIS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED.
ON MY CRUISE CONTROL WHEN I SET TO CERTAIN SPEED, IT WILL SPEED UP, I HAD IT SET TO 65 MPH AND IT SPED UP BY ITSELF TO 85 BEFORE I COULD GET IT TO GO OFF. I HAD TO SLAM ON THE BREAK TO GET IT TO GO OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. NOW THE CAR WILL NOT START ALL THE LIGHTS WILL COME ON, BUT CAR WILL NOT DO ANYTHING. CHECKED FUSES ALL GOOD, GROUND WIRE WAS TAKEN LOOSE AND PAINT GRINDER OFF AND PUT BACK ON, STILL WON'T START. IT STARTED NOT STARTING EVERY NOW AND THEN AND NOW IT WON'T START AT ALL. I READ WHERE THIS IS HAPPENING TO SEVERAL KIA SPECIFICALLY 2006 .
WHILE ROTATING THE TIRES, I NOTICED THAT THE LEFT LOWER CONTROL ARM WAS ALMOST COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH.
AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON, TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO HAVE IT RESET BUT IT WONT GO AWAY TOOK TO GET A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND THEY KEEP SAYING THAT THEY CANT PINPOINT THE PROBLEM, TRYING TO CHARGE ME $1500-2000 TO FIND AND FIX..
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 KIA SEDONA. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT, THE LOWER CONTROL ARM FRACTURED DUE TO CORROSION. THE VEHICLE STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS CORROSION CAUSED BY LIQUID ROAD SALT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT FELT THAT HER STATE WAS WAS BEING EXCLUDED FROM THE RECALL FOR THE CORROSION OF THE CONTROL ARMS WHEN NEARBY STATES WERE INCLUDED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000. *AS THE CONSUMER REQUESTED TO BE ADDED TO THE RECALL LIST AND BE REIMBURSED FOR THE REPAIRS. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 KIA SEDONA. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES TO ALLOW THE ENGINE TO COOL OFF. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT IT WOULD NOT START. THE CONTACT BEGAN TO NOTICE MORE SMOKE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE AND SMELLED A BURNING PLASTIC ODOR. THE CONTACT REMOVED HERSELF AND HER KIDS FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CHILD'S SCHOOL MAINTENANCE MAN ASSISTED THE CONTACT AND ASKED HER TO OPEN THE VEHICLE'S HOOD. AS THE HOOD WAS OPENED, FLAMES BEGAN TO EMIT FROM THE VEHICLE. THE MAINTENANCE PERSON CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR ASSISTANCE. THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED AND A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT'S INSURANCE COMPANY HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DESTROYED. A VIN SEARCH CONFIRMED THAT THERE WERE NO ACTIVE RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 175,000.
THE BACK FRAME OF MY 2006 KIA SEDONA IS ALL CORRODED. CANNOT DRIVE THE CAR ANY MORE. I BOUGHT THE CAR IN NOV-2006 AND IN DECEMBER 2011 I HAD TO CHANGE THE FRONT FRAME DUE TO CORROSION. IN MARCH 2014, I HAD TO CHANGE THE FRONT SUSPENSION DUE TO CORROSION AND NOW THE BACK FRAME IS ALL CORRODED. I WOULD LIKE THAT SOMEONE REALLY CHECK ON KIIA'S MATERIALS. IS INCREDIBLY THAT AFTER 5 YEARS I HAD TO CHANGE THE FRONT FRAME. AND UP TODAY'S DAY. I HAVE THE SAME CORROSION ISSUE. I LEAVE IN NEW JERSEY AND I KNOW THAT IN THE WINTER, THERE IS LOTS OF SALT ON THE STREETS BUT I HAVE NEVER SEEN A PROBLEM LIKE THIS ON ANY OTHER BRAND. THIS ISSUE GOES DIRECTLY TO THE SAFETY OF THE CAR.
FUSES KEEP BURNING OUT. AND CAUSE CAR TO STOP OR TURN OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. I WENT TO TEST MY ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY AND BOTH WERE GOOD. I WAS DRIVING ON 29 NORTH HEADED TOWARD LYNCHBURG. VA AND DRIVING 70MPH AND THE RADIO TURNED OFF LIGHTS TURNED OFF AND I QUICKLY PULLED OVER. TURNED OFF THE VAN, WAITED A COUPLE OF MINUTES TRIED TO TURN IT ON AND IT WOULDN'T TURN ON. AFTER WAITING FOR A TOW TRUCK (ALMOST 2 HOURS) WE GOT HOMETESTED THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR. AUTO ADVANCE TOLD ME BOTH WERE GOOD. EVERY FUSE IN THE FUSE BOX WAS BURNED OUT. A WIRE UNDER THE ALTERNATOR WAS BURNED OUT.
AFTER RUNNING MY VAN FOR A BIT I SHUT IT OFF AND WHEN I COME BACK OUT TO START IT IT WON'T START SO I LOOKED IT UP BEFORE AND I WAS TOLD TO REMOVE MY MEMORY FUSE AND RETURN IT BACK SO I DID THAT FOR A FEW MONTHS NOW I HAVE TO RELEASE THE ALTERNATOR FUSE FOR A BIT AND WAIT LIKE 5 MINS AND THEN PUSH IT BACK IN AND THEN VAN WILL START. BUT LATELY IT'S GETTING WHERE IT DOESN'T WORK AT ALL REMOVEING ANY OF THE FUSES . IF I LET THE VAN SET A FEW DAYS THEN TRY TO START IT THEN IT WILL START BUT IT WILL DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN AND LEAVES ME SITTING WHERE EVER IM AT WITH IT WITH NO WAY OF GETTING IT STARTED .. I'VE HAD GARAGES TELL ME IT IN MY FUSE PANEL OR WIRES IN THE FUSE BOX UNDER DASH BUT CANT GET NOONE TO TOUCH IT . IT'S A REALLY NICE VAN BESIDE THIS ISSUE I WOULD REALLY LIKE IT FIXED WITHOUT COSTING ME AN ARM OR LEG IN LABOR AND COST . I'VE HAD SOME TELL ME ITS A FACTORY ISSUE CAUSE I'VE TALK TO PPL THAT HAVE THE SAME VAN AND THEY HAVE ISSUE ALSO . THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL MONTHS LATER. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 132,000.
REAR CONTROL ARMS CORROSION. STATIONARY
ON THE MORNING OF THE INCIDENT I DROVE TO WORK (APPROX 25 MILES) AT SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH WITH NO INCIDENT. AFTER PARKING I ENTERED MY WORKPLACE. DURING LUNCH I GOT IN THE VEHICE AND BEGAN TO TRAVEL TO A NEARBY REASTAURANT. I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH WHEN THE VHEICLE'S HOOD BECAME UNLATCHED AND OPENED. THE HOOD OPENED WITH SUCH FORCE THAT THE HOOD LIFT STRUT SUPPORTS BROKE, ALLOWING THE HOOD TO OPEN, OVER EXTEND, OBSTRUCT MY VISION, AND STRIKE THE WINDSHIELD. UPON STRIKING THE WINDSHIELD THE GLASS SHATTERED. I SLOWLY PULLED TO A NEARBY PARKING LOT, TOOK A PICTURE WITH MY PHONE,AND CLOSED THE HOOD. I LATER CALLED KIA CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-333-4542 AND REPORTED THE INCIDENT. I WAS GIVEN A CASE NUMBER OF 13015302. I WAS ADVISED TO PROCEED TO AN AUTHORIZED KIA DEALEARSHIP AND BE SEEN FOR NHTSA RECALL NUMBER 16V-389. IF THE LATCH WAS FAULTY, I WAS TOLD THAT KIA WOULD COVER THE COSTS OF REPAIRS. WHEN THE DEALERSHIP WAS CALLED, I WAS ASSURED THAT THERE WERE NOT RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE, WHEN TO THE CONTRARY, I WAS SENT A RECALL DOCUMENT SC134 FROM KIA CASE WORKER, BILLY WELLS. I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. I DROPPED THE VEHICLE OFF FOR THE APPOINTMENT. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 4 HRS THE LOCAL KIA DEALERSHIP SERVICED THE VEHICLE AND PRODUCED PAPER WORK STATING THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH THE EQUIPMENT.
THE CLEAR COAT IS PEALING FROM THE HOOD AND REAR OF VEHICLE. I HAVE SEEN THIS ON MANY OF THESE GOLD COLORED KIA SEDONA'S INCLUDING MINE THUS I THOUGHT I SHOULD REPORT.
