The contact owns a 2013 Kia Soul. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was restarted however, several functions remained inoperable. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic and was diagnosed but not repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V120000 (Engine, Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was informed of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 231,000.
I had a serious issue with my steering yesterday. When I tried to parallel park my car yesterday, I turned the steering wheel both left and right to try and park and then I heard loud clunking noises in both directions until my steering wheel gave to the point where it could turn all the way around without turning the wheels at all. It's my understanding that others with my same year of Kia soul are reporting the same and starting in 2014, there was a safety recall. 2013 should be included in the recall because had I been driving, I could have been in a very serious accident.
I believe my catalytic converter. My engine light came on and I took it to AutoZone and they put it on the tester and they said it was my catalytic converter.

A fire report was filed. The vehicle was towed away from the scene. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure. My 2013 Kia Soul has been stalling while idle or at red lights. In addition, sometimes it is difficult to start and I have to attempt several times. Lately, once I do start the vehicle and begin to drive, it’s as if the vehicle doesn’t know which gear to maintain. As a result, the car will attempt to “cut off” driving and l literally will have to pull over immediately in attempt to not be hit or run off the road, as the car is practically in neutral by its own choice. Also, the “emergency brake” light is on, even though the emergency brake is not being used.

The contact stated she was able to restart the vehicle after two attempts however, she heard abnormal knocking sounds coming from the engine. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who informed the contact that the vehicle could not be diagnosed nor repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V120000 (Engine, Engine and Engine Cooling) as it was out of warranty. The vehicle was towed to the residence of the contact's boyfriend. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the recall repair for NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V120000 (Engine, Engine and Engine Cooling) could not be completed on the vehicle because the vehicle did not have an extended warranty. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was 87,450.
1) wiring harness is malfunctioning causing bulbs to prematurely blow. I’m constantly having to replace turn signal bulbs, headlight bulbs, taillight bulbs and break light bulbs. 2) I’ve read many accounts online that this is a common occurrence in the 2013 Kia Soul. 3) this put drivers behind me at risk when my tail lights/break lights fail. Since they are behind me, I have no idea that they have failed because there’s NO warning lights that alert me to the issue. 4) I have left MULTIPLE MESSAGES at MULTIPLE LOCATIONS and PHONE NUMBERS for Kia and their service departments, for over a month and NOBODY HAS returned my phone calls.
Spontaneous paint loss down to the bare metal. Yesterday I noticed a large fist-sized paint loss on top of my car above the drivers side. There is no damage to the area just the paint loss out of nowhere. I also noticed a couple of tiny paint losses somewhat near the large loss, which are about 1/2 the size of a peppercorn. I'm confident they will get larger.
I am the second owner of a 2013 Kia Soul that was purchased from Century 3 Kia, in Dec of 2015 with approximately 33,000 miles on it. It now has approximately 99,900 miles on it. During the summer of last year, I began to have problems with the car overheating, stalling, and hearing knocking in the engine. My car was burning oil pretty bad (kept having to change the oil) and it smelled like something was burning in my engine so I took it to the dealership where I purchased it. I was afraid it would catch on fire. They ran a diagnostic on it and said that it was the catalytic converter and quoted me a price of around $3,000 to fix it. I asked if there were any recalls for this issue and they said no. About a week later I took it to my mechanic, after doing a diagnostic check he confirmed that the catalytic converter was defective, and he said that my engine sounded pretty bad as well. He told me that he believed there was a recall on my car and advised me to contact Kia and ask about it. I called Kia and they told me there were no open recalls on my vehicle so I decided to get the least expensive issue taken care of first and had the catalytic converter replaced in July 2021. I became ill shortly after that so the car sat unused for several months. I became ill again with Covid in late November and was hospitalized for two weeks, the car sat unused for several more months. In March of 2022, I tried to drive it around the block but had to turn around because the car was very unstable. I towed it back to my mechanic, who told me it was the engine. My Kia Soul has a 1.6L DOHC GDI GAMMA engine, I noticed that it was the same as the ones that were part of the 2019 recall. I had the same issues with my car as those reported by others. I took very good care of my car and kept up with servicing it. My car should have been included in the recall, it had a faulty catalytic converter which caused my engine to fail. Now I'm forced to pay expenses for a car that I can't drive.
2013 Kia Soul. Consumer writes in regards to NHTSA safety recall 19V120. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND PISTONS WERE DAMAGED. THE CYLINDERS MISFIRED AND OIL ENTERED THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with the engine needing to be replaced due to metal shavings being found in the oil pan. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact then took the vehicle to a local dealer where it was diagnosed with the engine needing to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was relating the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 19V120000 (Engine, Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and informed the contact that they would call him back. The failure mileage was approximately 134,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Kia Soul. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, there was a knocking sound heard. The vehicle was shaking while accelerating and there was a lag before the vehicle accelerate and then stalled. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed that the crankshaft sensor was faulty. The crankshaft sensor was replaced. The failure recurred after the vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and diagnosed with engine failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that they would not cover the cost for the engine replacement and they had already initiated a product improvement campaign by installing the knock sensor detection to the vehicle. The failure mileage was 190,000.
While driving my car stalled on me. I pulled over to the side of the road and tried to restart the car it finally restarted i drove it to the nearest gas station. It did not over heat but it was smoking. The check engine light came on. I key it sit for awhile then restarted it and was able to drive it home. It was sluggish and would smoke but it was not over heating. I did the car about 2 miles down the road the car started smoking and then caught on fire
I was driving my car when the inside filled with smoke, I stopped the car in the middle of a busy street and got out and within 20 seconds all the glass blew and my car was completely engulfed in flames. The car was a total loss and kia is not cooperating, they don't even act like they care that their customer almost died and lost everything.
STEERING WHEEL MAKES CLICKING SOUND WHEN STEERING AND ALSO WHILE VEHICLE IS NOT.IN MOTION. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH, I BELIEVE IT IS THE STEERING COUPLER WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE DUE TO THE CHANCE OF STEERING WHEEL LOCKING UP WHILE DRIVING. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS SINCE MANY OTHER PEOPLE ONLINE ARE REPORTING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE, BUT I AM SCARED OF DRIVING MY CAR IF IT IS NOT FIXED RIGHT AWAY. THIS IS A HAZARDOUS PROBLEM AND IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.

The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine had misfired and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but declined the repair due to software update not being updated prior to the failure. THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN MARCH 2020 AND IN JANUARY 2021 STARTED EXPERIENCING STALLING AND SMOKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE AS HAVING BAD GAS. IN FEBRUARY 2021, THE CAR HAD THE SAME ISSUE, STALLED WHILE DRIVING, AND WAS ALSO SMOKING. AFTER TWO WEEKS OF SITTING AT THE DEALERSHIP AND AWAITING THE DIAGNOSIS, THE SERVICE MANAGER AT SOUTHSIDE KIA REPORTED THAT THE ENGINE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AND IT WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $7700. UPON RESEARCH, KIA HAS RECALLED OVER 300K VEHICLES DUE TO ENGINE STALL AND THE RISK OF CATCHING FIRE. THESE ARE THE SAME ISSUES THAT MY MOM'S CAR IS HAVING, HOWEVER, THE DEALER WILL NOT ENTERTAIN OR PAY THE COST AND RATHER ATTEMPT TO SELL HER ANOTHER CAR. I AM STILL AWAITING THE DOCUMENTED ESTIMATE. I HAVE ONLY SPOKEN TO THE SERVICE ADVISOR ON THE PHONE. MY CONCERN IS THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE ENGINE TROUBLE IN JANUARY 2021 AND POTENTIALLY IN MARCH OF 2020 WHEN THEY SOLD THE VEHICLE TO HER. THIS APPEARS TO BE DISHONEST AND THAT KIA'S STAFF TOOK ADVANTAGE OF A SENIOR CITIZEN. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION WHILE STALLING AND SMOKING.
The first issue is that the oil light does not come on properly. It would only flicker on occasionally when the oil level began to get low. This is scary to think about not being warned that your car is out of oil and continuing to drive, when the engine could seize. The real issue is that the car is consuming oil. I am going through a quart a week just to keep up. I drive 500-600 miles a week. Kia will tell you that adding oil in-between oil changes is normal. There is nothing normal about having to give it this much. The car is not smoking and the car is not leaking. I had it checked by my mechanic, and they replaced the PCV valve. They said this was a long shot, and the next step would be to replace the engine. The valve replacement did little to help the consumption of oil. I know there are other cars in Kia's offering that have leaked oil into the pistons, I am thinking this could be one of them.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KIA OF ALLIANCE (2010 W. STATE ST, ALLIANCE, OH 44601) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS AND IGNITION WIRES HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT RELATED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V120000 (ENGINE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,954.

THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING AND THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CAR WOULD CRANK AFTER SITTING FOR A MOMENT AND THEN THE CAR WOULD STALL AGAIN WHILE DRIVING. THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS BEING THAT THIS WAS IN TRAFFIC. IN FEBRUARY, THE CAR WAS STALLING AND WHEN TOWED TO THE DEALER THEY DIAGNOSED AS HAVING BAD GAS AND TO RUN THE GAS OUT OF THE TANK. THE ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON AT THIS TIME. THE CHARGE WAS $168.00 TO DIAGNOSE. THE SAME PROBLEM IS OCCURRING A MONTH LATER AND THE DEALERSHIP RESPONDED THAT IN ORDER TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM IT WILL COST $420. THIS APPEARS TO BE AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT JUST TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND DOES NOT INCLUDE ANY REPAIRS. BEING THAT THE ENGINE IS STALLING THIS AND THE SERIOUSNESS OF THIS, I WOULD LIKE TO BRING THIS TO THIS AGENCY'S ATTENTION. I AM A SENIOR CITIZEN AND WOULD HATE TO THINK THAT THE DEALERSHIP IS TRYING TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF A WOMAN WHO IS A SENIOR CITIZEN. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION ON SURFACE STREETS BUT ALSO ON THE HIGHWAY AT ONE POINT.

UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V120000 (ENGINE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF FAILURE AND TOLD THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 175,000.
Catalytic Converter is failing causing engine and exhaust noise as well as performance issues. Diagnostic code appears when computer diagnostics ran. There is recall for this issue for my year, make, and model, but when I search by vin it states there are no recalls for this vehicle.
DRIVING HOME A FEW WEEKS AGO MY KIA STALLED ON THE INTERSTATE, STOPPING ME IN IN HEAVY TRAFFIC WITH OUT WARNING. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT SAFELY OFF THE ROAD AFTER IT STARTED BACK UP. WHEN IT STARTED IT STARTED BLOWING ALL KINDS OF WHITE SMOKE, RAN REALLY ROUGH, ALL THE DASH LIGHTS CAME ON, AND I NOTICED THE ENGINE WAS NOW KNOCKING. THE NEXT MORNING I GOT IT TOWED TO KIA DEALER WHERE THEY DID SOME WORK UNDER RECALL SC176 WHICH WAS A FAILED COMPUTER WHICH OVER HEATED THE EXHAUST CONVERTER WHICH RESULTED IN INTERNAL ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO BACK PRESSURE AND COMBUSTION. MY ENGINE NOW HAS A FAILED ENGINE CONNECTING ROD. KIA DID THE BASIC RECALL WORK BUT NOW IS REFUSING TO REPLACE THE ENGINE UNDER THEIR OWN RECALL. AS IT STATES RIGHT IN THE RECALL. IF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER IS DAMAGED, SUBSTRATE PARTICLES CAN ENTER THE ENGINE COMBUSTION CHAMBER AND CAUSE ABNORMAL ENGINE COMBUSTION. CONTINUOUS ABNORMAL ENGINE COMBUSTION CAN RESULT IN DAMAGE TO ONE OR MORE OF THE ENGINE'S PISTONS WHICH CAN CAUSE PISTON ROD BREAKAGE, POTENTIALLY PUNCTURING THE ENGINE BLOCK ALLOWING ENGINE OIL TO ESCAPE. ENGINE OIL THAT CONTACTS A HOT EXHAUST SURFACE MAY RESULT IN A FIRE. IN ADDITION, THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WILL ALSO BE REPLACED IF IT HAS BEEN DAMAGED. DEPENDING ON THE EXTENT OF ANY DAMAGE, THE ENGINE MAY ALSO BE REPLACED. THIS CAR I HAVE OWNED SINCE BRAND NEW 1 PERSON OWNER AND WAS RUNNING PERFECT UP UNTIL THIS EVENT. THE ENGINE FAILED DUE TO THE ISSUES OF THE RECALL AND NOW THEY REFUSE TO REPLACE THE ENGINE THAT IT IS CLEARLY LISTED DIN BLACK AND WHITE ON THEIR OWN RECALL INFORMATION.
THE ACCELERATION DROPS OUT AT ANY GIVEN POINT IN TIME. IT IDLES ROUGH. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF REGARDLESS OF ISSUES OCCURRING. PEDAL TO THE FLOOR I CAN'T GET MORE THAN 1400 RPMS AND ABOUT 7 MPH. THE DEALERSHIP HAS HAD MY CAR SEVERAL TIMES UNABLE TO FIND AN ISSUE AND THE ENGINE HAS BEEN REPLACED SINCE IT BLEW UP A YEAR AND A HALF OR SO AGO. EVERYTHING I'VE READ SEEMS LIKE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTOR IS FAILING

AFTER THE ENGINE COMPLETELY FAILED, THE OIL AND CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS BOTH APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INFORMED HIM THAT A ROD PIERCED THROUGH THE ENGINE BLOCK. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE AND WAS REPLACED WITH ANOTHER ENGINE BY THE SAME MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT LINKED HIS FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V120000 (ENGINE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,250.
A COMPLAINT TO KIA CONSUMER AFFAIRS ADDRESSING CONCERNS AND ISSUES WITH MY 2013 KIA SOUL IN DECEMBER 2020. THE COMPLAINT WAS REGARDED TO EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION, LOW GAS MILEAGE,VEHICLE STALLING AND SHUTTING DOWN COMPLETELY WHILE IN MOTION IN THE HIGHWAY AND FAULTY ENGINE PARTS. I INITIATED A 2ND COMPLAINT ABOUT SAME ISSUES IN JANUARY 2021. PRIOR TO ALL THIS IN 2019 KIA HAD A RECALL FOR ECU IN WHICH I STRONGLY THINK IS THE ONSET BEGINNING HOW ISSUES I CURRENTLY HAVE HAVE RESONATED INTO CURRENT ISSUES LEADING UP TILL (PRESENT). THIS YEAR 2021, I CALLED KIA CONSUMER ADDRESSING ISSUES BUT REP. STATED, THERE WERE NO ENGINE CAMPAIGNS OR RECALLS ISSUED AT THIS TIME AND INSISTED I CALL THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE. I CALLED THE KIA DEALERSHIP EXPLAINING TO THE SERVICE REP. AN INCIDENT HAD OCCURRED AS I'M DRIVING TO WORK WHILE IN MOTION IN ONGOING TRAFFIC UP A HIGHWAY MY CAR BEGIN TO STALL LIKE IN LIMP MODE AND LOSING POWERTRAIN IN THE ENGINE AND SHUT OFF COMPLETELY. WHILE THIS HAPPENED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED AS THE BATTERY LIGHT, OIL LIGHT AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WERE ON ALL AT THE SAME TIME. I TRIED TO START THE VEHICLE BUT WOULD NOT START. I CALLED FOR 911 ASSISTANCE FOR IMMEDIATE HELP DUE TO CAR SHUTTING OFF ON ME IN ONGOING TRAFFIC. THE STATE AGENT DID NOT COME IN TIME, SO DOT HAPPENED TO DRIVE PASSED AND SLOWED DOWN AND COME BACK TO HELP PUSH MY VEHICLE TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY TO SAFETY. EVENTUALLY, 911 AGENT CAME AND I EXPLAINED EVERYTHING TO HIM AS I CALLED FOR ROADSIDE ASST. TO COME AND TOW MY CAR TO THE NEAREST AUTO SHOP. I PHONE THE KIA DEALERSHIP THE SAME DAY OF THIS INCIDENT AND EXPLAINED EVERYTHING, KIA REP. SAID THAT'S BECAUSE YOU SHOW A RECALL OPEN ON YOUR VEHICLE AND NEED TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIRS. ECU KNOCK SENSOR WAS TOLD BY SERVICE MGR. THIS WAS THE REASON CAR SHUT DOWN ON ME. DISAPPOINTED WITH KIA

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER FRED BEANS KIA OF LANGHORNE (1801 LINCOLN HWY, LANGHORNE, PA 19047, (267)436-4961) AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V120000 (ENGINE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE CONTACT STATED THE RECALL REPAIR WAS COMPLETED HOWEVER, THE FOLLOWING DAY THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 129,000.
Problems with our 2013 Kia Soul! started [XXX] @ 78,388 miles. We took the car to Kia Country in Manteca for an oil change, when leaving the dealership white plumes of smoke where coming out of the exhaust. Took the car back to the dealership who told us not to worry about it, drive it on the freeway to burn it off. Returned to the dealership 4-7-21 @ 80,414 miles smoke is still coming out of the exhaust, Kia performed an oil consumption test, we were told to come back in a couple of months or 3,500 miles to check on the vehicle. 6-4-21 @ 81,737 miles took the car back for inspection, engine oil checked out ok, they couldn't find any issues. [XXX] @ 91,239 miles took the car to Kia Dublin, blue smoke was coming out of exhaust and car won't start. Tech performed tests they recommended to drive the car and wait for a check engine light to be active. They can't open a tech line if there is nothing wrong with the car and they can't duplicate the concern. [XXX] @ 124,770 miles took the car back to Kia Dublin, the car is shutting off at stop lights or at idle, won't go over 40 miles an hour. After being at the dealership for 4 days, spoke to Will on 4-16-25 states the engine needs to be replaced due to the connecting rods and pistons creating an engine failure, there is also an oil leak. There is a recall for the smaller 1.6L engine but not for our 2.0L engine, even though the issues are exactly the same. Will recommended calling Kia Customer Care for help. I called Kia Customer Care 4-17-25 and was given a case number. I have been dealing with both Kia Customer Care and Kia Dublin for over 5 weeks and no one wants to own up to selling us a defective engine or give us a replacement. I have called almost everyday and I am given a different story, meanwhile the car sits on the lot at the dealership. My daughter is without a car and we are struggling to get her to work, we have not been offered a loaner car, as the car has not been approved for an engine replacement. CAR HAS BEEN STALLING RANDOMLY WHEN COMING TO A STOP, THEN DIFFICULT TO RE-ACCELERATE. THIS OCCURS AFTER DRIVING FOR A WHILE, NOT RIGHT AFTER STARTUP. FIRST OCCURRENCE WAS IN DECEMBER 2020, THEN SEVERAL TIMES AFTER THAT, MOST RECENTLY FEBRUARY 24 2021. CAR WAS BROUGHT TO BOTH PERSONAL MECHANIC SEVERAL TIMES THEN TO DEALERSHIP. BOTH WERE UNABLE TO RECREATE PROBLEM DESCRIBED. SEVERAL POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS WERE TRIED, NEW SPARK PLUGS, RESETTING COMPUTER CODES, ETC. CAR HANDLED WELL BRIEFLY, THEN PROBLEM RESURFACED.
I HAVE A 2013 KIA SOUL, I HAVE BEEN PAYING MY LOAN ON THIS CAR SINCE 2016. I TAKE CARE OF IT AND ROUTINELY DO OIL CHANGES ON IT AND UP KEEP. OVER THE COURSE OF THE PAST FOUR MONTHS I NOTICED MY CAR ACTING UP, I HAD TAKEN IT TO SHOPS AND NONE COULD FIND A PROBLEM. MY CAR WAS NOT STARTING UP, I WOULD HAVE TO JIGGLE MY WHEEL TO MIRACULOUSLY GET THE VEHICLE TO START. THEN ONCE IT STARTED IT WOULDN'T ACCELERATE AND WOULD SLOWLY GO INTO NEUTRAL. PROGRESSIVELY IT GOT WORSE, MY CAR WOULD TURN OFF IF I WAS PARKED OR AT A STOP SIGN OR WHEN GOING 20MPH OR LESS. ON 12/24/2020 AS I WAS DRIVING MY CAR ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY I SAW SMOKE COMING FROM MY CAR. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN AS I RESTARTED IT, THERE WAS A LOUD CLANGING AND THE CAR WAS JUMPING. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED IT OFF AND GOT IT TOWED. I AM AT A LOSS AND COMPLETELY AT RISK WITH THIS VEHICLE PLEASE HELP.
ENGINE BEGAN MAKING TICKING NOISES WHILE STATIONARY AND WHILE DRIVING AND ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK IT TO DEALER; DEALER CHANGED OIL & FILTER AND SAID PROBLEM WAS BAD OIL FILTER CAUSING LOW OIL PRESSURE. ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN A FEW WEEKS LATER. RETURNED TO DEALER; TECHNICIAN HAS FOUND METAL SHAVINGS IN THE OIL AND EXPECTS COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE IN THE FUTURE.

THE NOISE IS COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN AREA. STEERING DOES NOT FEEL STABLE. THERE IS A 2014 KIA SOUL RECALL THAT SEEMS TO BE FOR SAME PROBLEM. THE STEERING COLUMN WOULD POP AND MAKE NOISES WHILE DRIVING . THE STEERING WAS VERY LOOSE AND EVERY TIME YOU HIT A BUMP THE STEERING WHEEL WILL WOBBLE EXTREMELY BAD ALMOST UNCONTROLLABLY. THE STEERING COUPLER WAS BAD . COULD NOT GO OVER 55 MPH CAUSE IT WOULD CAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL TO WOBBLE BAD .

BOUGHT THIS CAR FOR MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER. ROD BROKE, PUNCTURED THE ENGINE BLOCK, WHICH CAUSED THE OIL LEAKED OUT AND IT CAUGHT FIRE WITH MY DAUGHTER AND HER FRIENDS IN THE CAR.
RECALL #176: ACCORDING TO THE RECALL, THERE CAN BE PISTON DAMAGE FROM THE OVERHEATING AND MISFIRING AS RESULT OF A BAD ECU. I RECENTLY HAD THIS RECALL REPAIR COMPLETED BUT THE DEALER IS UNWILLING TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE POSSIBLE ENGINE DAMAGE AND CHECK DEEPER. CURRENTLY, I AM BURNING ABOUT 1 QUART OF OIL EVERY 200 MILES. OBVIOUSLY, THIS IS A PROBLEM. MY CONTENTION IS THAT THE CAUSE MAY BE FROM PISTON DAMAGE ORIGINATING FROM THE ORIGINAL RECALL AND I AM CURRENTLY STILL AT RISK OF SEVERE DAMAGE AND/OR DANGER. I DO NOT KNOW THE NEXT STEPS IN GETTING THE DEALER TO INVESTIGATE THE CAUSE OF INCREASED OIL CONSUMPTION.
AFTER SC176 RECALL REPAIR THE VEHICLE STILL DID NOT RUN CORRECTLY. AFTER ESCALATING FOR A VP, KIA REPLACED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. I ASKED FOR THE PARTS BUT KIA SAID THE PARTS WERE THEIRS.THE ENGINE SEEMED TO BE RUNNING CORRECTLY BUT FAILED IN NOV. 2020. I WENT ABOUT A MILE WITH THE CAR AFTER IT WAS SITTING FOR 2 DAYS AND THE CHECK ENGINE CAME ON AND BLINKED AND ENGINE RAN ROUGH. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE KIA REPAIR. KIA SAID I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE, WITH PARTS AND LABOR WOULD BE 6K TO INSTALL. I TALKED WITH 2 MECHANICS BESIDES KIA AND BOTH SAID THAT THE CAR AGE AND MILES IT SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED AND THAT IT HAD TO BE AN OVER HEATING ISSUE BUT IT NEVER OVERHEATED. I FOLLOWED MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE FOR MOST OF THE LIFE OF THE CAR.

AT 97000 MILES THE ENGINE BEGAN A TICKING NOISE. ALL FUEL AND OIL LEVELS WERE APPROPRIATE. LESS THAN 2 WEEKS AFTER THAT NOISE BEGAN BEFORE I COULD GET INTO A SERVICE APPOINTMENT, I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, THE TICKING GOT LOUDER THEN MADE A POOF NOISE AND THE CAR DIED. NO INTERNAL OR EXTERNAL LIGHTS, NOTHING. I COASTED TO THE SHOULDER. I HAD IT TOWED TO A SHOP WHERE THEY STATED THAT A ROD HAD COME APART AND THE ENGINE NOW HAD A HOLE IN THE SIDE AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED.

WENT ABOUT MY BUSINESS IN ANOTHER CAR, CAME HOME ABOUT 1 HOUR LATER, GOT INTO CAR AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP AND HAS BEEN FINE SINCE. I HAVE GONE ONLINE AND HAVE SEEN THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM, BUT THERE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE ANYTHING THAT THE DEALER CAN DO. THEY REPLACE DIFFERENT PARTS, BUT IT OCCURS AGAIN. LOTS ON MONEY BEING SPENT AND NO RESULTS TO BE HAD. VERY FRUSTRATING . THIS HAS HAPPEN ABOUT 15 TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR, BUT IT DOES START IF YOU WAIT AWHILE. AT LEAST MY HAS, BUT I NOTE THAT OTHERS HAVE NOT.
